Billy Ray Cyrus accusing estranged wife Firerose of abuse

OHMYGOSSIP — Billy Ray Cyrus is accusing his estranged wife Firerose of abuse.
The ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ country singer, 62, filed for divorce in May from the musician, 37, after nearly seven months of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct as reason for the split.
New court documents filed in Tennessee on Monday (24.06.24) have now shown Billy Ray claims he was “physically”, verbally and emotionally abused by his ex – who was born Johanna Rose Hodges.
He also uses the filing to deny “mind boggling” allegations it was him who was abusive to Firerose.
The papers state: “While the Plaintiff would acknowledge that he was certainly vocal, frustrated and angry with the Defendant in May 2024, it is the plaintiff who, in fact, has been abused.
“Not only verbally and emotionally by the Defendant, but PHYSICALLY abused by Defendant.”
In an affidavit, Billy Ray’s manager Scott Adkins says he witnessed the abuse toward the singer.
Billy Ray’s filing coms after Firerose filed legal papers on 14 July saying Billy Ray filed for divorce in May one day before she was set to undergo a preventative double mastectomy.
Firerose says in her complaint she was diagnosed as a carrier of the BRCA1 gene mutation in early 2020 and her doctors “highly recommended” she undergo the procedure and a breast reconstruction in March, with the singer scheduling her first surgery for 24 May.
Billy Ray claims Firerose has known about being a carrier for the BRCA1 gene mutation, which means she has an increased likelihood of developing breast cancer, for four years, but he was not made aware of it until after their marriage.
A representative for Firerose told People the only people backing Billy Ray’s “false claims” are “on his payroll”, making their “credibility questionable”.
They added the “audacity to question a BRCA-positive women’s decision to undergo a preventative surgery” shows the “cruel manipulation” to which Firerose was subjected by Billy Ray.
Firerose claims the singer also “continuously launched verbal assaults” at her while threatening to kick her out of their home and file for divorce.
In her complaint, she states the performer placed her into “an emotional and psychological prison”.
She adds she was “ambushed” with divorce papers on 23 May, less than a day before she was set to undergo her mastectomy.
On 13 June, Billy Ray filed an emergency motion seeking a temporary restraining order that would stop his ex from accessing his personal and business credit cards and account – alleging she spent nearly $100,000 of his income on “unauthorised” purchases after they split.
Firerose said there was “no emergency” and that she has had access to his credit card for the past two years.

Matthew Perry’s drug death ‘could spark charges of multiple people’

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew Perry’s drug death may result in “multiple people” being charged.
The ‘Friends’ star was found dead aged 54 in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home in October 2023, with an autopsy revealing he had been killed by “acute effects of ketamine”.
A police source has now told People several people could – and should – be charged in connection to the actor’s shock passing after his years of battling drink and drugs addictions that left him on the verge of death before he sought help in rehab.
The outlet reported: “A law enforcement investigative source (says the) investigation into Matthew Perry’s ketamine death is ‘nearing its conclusion’ and police believe ‘multiple people’ should be charged.”
It added: “The source says the US Attorney’s Office will make the ultimate decision on whether or not to press charges.”
It was reported in May local police and federal agents were trying to identify where the actor – who spent years battling drink and drug addictions – bought the drug.
TMZ reported at the time: “Law enforcement sources tell us there is an ongoing investigation into where Matthew got the ketamine that ended up playing a part in his death – and the main questions are who provided the drug, and under what circumstances.”
Its report went on: ‘Our sources say both local police and the DEA have been looking into this matter for months, but it’s unclear where exactly investigators are in the probe.
“We do know they’ve already interviewed some key people in Hollywood.
“While our sources could not provide names they told us investigators have approached and spoken to people who are known to have a history of drug use or abuse.
“We’re told those people are not necessarily the actual source of ketamine, but they could have information leading to the source.
“So far, no arrests have been made.”
The LA County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed in December Matthew’s death was drug related.
Drowning, coronary artery disease and buprenorphine effects were also listed as other contributing factors in his passing.
At the time, a medical expert speculated to Page Six the actor had “likely” obtained ketamine illegally for “recreational use”.
Even though Matthew was undergoing ketamine treatment for anxiety and depression at the time of his passing, his autopsy report noted “the ketamine in his system at death could not be from that infusion therapy”.
Matthew’s ‘Friends’ co-stars have continued to honour him since his death, with his on-screen lover Courteney Cox, 60, telling ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ she thinks he still “visits” her – adding: “I sense Matthew’s around for sure.”

Emma Roberts thinks fame is ‘really scary’

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Roberts finds fame “really scary”.
The ‘Adult World’ actress, 33, who made her acting debut aged nine in 2001’s ‘Blow’ alongside Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz, said she has seen the effects of being in the spotlight on her aunt Julia Roberts and says it leaves her petrified of the concept.
She told the ‘Table for Two’ podcast with Bruce Bozzi: “(I) saw very up close what (being famous) really looks like (with Julia.)
“It’s obviously fun and it’s great but there is a part of it that’s really scary.
“(For me), fame has never been the goal, because fame at a certain level is kind of scary… when you’ve seen fame like that up close and you see what that really does to people (and) their families.”
Emma, who is the daughter of Julia’s actor older brother Eric Roberts, 68, has been open over the years about her relationship with her aunt, and how she never felt any pressure to match the level of her career.
She told Tatler in 2022: “I never aspired to be (Julia.) I love her so much, I love her work, but I’m just doing my own thing.”
Emma added about how she has mixed roles in mainstream and indie movies with surprise parts on TV: “My favourite parts have been ones that people don’t expect – when Ryan Murphy cast me in ‘American Horror Story’, for example. “People saw me as this nice, teen girl and I couldn’t get older, edgier roles at the time.
“(Ryan) gave me that opportunity, and I’d love to do that for others.”
Emma also tackled criticism of Hollywood’s growing number of “nepo baby” actors during her podcast appearance, saying about how she thinks it focuses more on females: “Everybody loves the kind of overnight success story. And so if you’re kind of not the girl from the middle of nowhere that broke into Hollywood, there’s kind of an eye roll of like, ‘Well, your dad was this…’.
“And I always joke like, ‘Why is no one calling out George Clooney for being a nepo baby? Rosemary Clooney was an icon’.
“I feel like young girls get it harder with the nepo baby thing.
“Like, I don’t really see people calling out sons of famous actors… not that they should be called out.”

Celine Dion ‘offered the chance to perform at Paris Olympics’

OHMYGOSSIP — Celine Dion has been offered the chance to perform at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics.
The 56-year-old singer is eager to return to performing live, despite being diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome – a progressive neurological disorder that affects her muscles – and Celine has been offered the opportunity to perform at the upcoming Olympic Games.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Celine has made no secret of her desire to make it back to the stage, and Paris would be the perfect opportunity for her to do that.
“Unlike other offers which are full shows, making an appearance at the opening ceremony would see Celine performing just one song.”
Celine is excited by the possibility of performing at the opening ceremony. However, it’s not yet clear whether it will happen.
The insider explained: “The formal offer to perform was made earlier this year, and Celine is working around the clock to make it happen.
“She’s made huge leaps and is getting stronger every day, but she’s not out of the woods yet.
“Everyone has their fingers crossed it is able to happen. It will be quite the moment.”
Meanwhile, Celine previously revealed that she hopes to “raise awareness” of stiff-person syndrome through a new feature-length documentary.
The award-winning star has opened up about her struggles in ‘I Am: Celine Dion’.
She said: “This last couple of years has been such a challenge for me, the journey from discovering my condition to learning how to live with and manage it, but not to let it define me.
“As the road to resuming my performing career continues, I have realised how much I have missed it, of being able to see my fans.
“During this absence, I decided I wanted to document this part of my life, to try to raise awareness of this little-known condition, to help others who share this diagnosis.”

Sienna told E! News: “Initially, it was a lot for her, and now she is in heaven.
On the bond the girls are building, the ‘Alfie’ star said: “Now that the baby can react, [she] is clearly in love with her big sister.”
Sienna has been busy promoting her latest film, ‘Horizon: An American Saga’, all over the world, and that teamed with having a baby means she is in need of lots of sleep.
Asked what her plans for the summer are, she replied: “Maybe a bit of sleep. I have a new baby.”
Meanwhile, Sienna revealed Marlowe was keen to make a cameo in the film, which also stars Kevin Costner and Sam Worthington, but she “chickened out”.
Sienna said: “But what’s so lovely about this set is anyone is welcome.”
The ‘American Sniper’ actress opening up about life with a newborn comes after Sienna previously admitted she felt self-conscious about becoming a mum again in her 40s.
She told Vogue magazine: “I’d love to get to a point where I didn’t feel the need to make a joke of my being older and having a baby … to show I’m in on the joke.”
The screen star bared her baby bump in a photoshoot for the magazine, and she said of the decision: “I was nervous about the idea of it … [But] I was like, I’ll have that photo for the rest of my baby’s life.
“It’s kind of fascinating to fight your own prejudice against yourself. I’m constantly doing that.”

Oprah Winfrey recalls feeling ‘shame’ amid weight struggles

OHMYGOSSIP — Oprah Winfrey once declined a party invite because she thought she was “too fat”.
The 70-year-old TV star embarked on a weight-loss journey in the late 1980s – but Oprah found that in spite of her best efforts, she quickly regained the weight that she had lost.
During an appearance on ‘The Jamie Kern Lima Show’, Oprah shared: “I didn’t have a morsel of food for five solid months in losing that weight on [the all-liquid diet] Optifast.
“Three days later, I was 5 lbs. heavier, and a week later I was 10 lbs. heavier.
“The week before Christmas, I remember Don Johnson – the Don Johnson, of ‘Miami Vice’ – was having a party and had invited me and some members of my show to come, and I wouldn’t go because I thought I was too fat to go.”
Oprah recalled feeling a sense of shame about her weight struggles.
She said: “I’d gone from 145 [lbs.] on the day of the show. I think I was 157 [lbs.] in the course of, like, a week and a half or two. And the shame started again.”
Despite this, Oprah previously confessed to being a “steadfast participant” in America’s diet culture.
The veteran TV star acknowledged that she’s played an influential role in shaping the conversation around diet and health in the US.
Oprah – who hosted her own TV talk-show for 25 years – said on a YouTube special earlier this year: “I want to acknowledge that I have been a steadfast participant in this diet culture.
“Through my platforms, through the magazine, through the talk show for 25 years and online, I’ve been a major contributor to it. I cannot tell you how many weight-loss shows and makeovers I have done and they have been a staple since I’ve been working in television.”

Christina Applegate’s daughter Sadie reveals health battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Christina Applegate is “so sorry” that her 13-year-old daughter, Sadie Grace LeNoble, has been diagnosed with the neurological condition Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome.
The 52-year-old actress and her teenage girl – whom she has with musician husband Martyn LeNoble – have opened up about her battle with the condition that causes abnormally large increases in heart rate upon sitting up or standing and is heightened in hot weather.
Sadie also has Misophonia, which causes decreased tolerance to specific sounds.
Speaking on the ‘MeSsy’ podcast with her parent, who has Multiple Sclerosis herself, Sadie said: “I have something called POTS.
“I have no clue what it actually is but it’s something to do with the autonomic nervous system and it affects my heart. When I stand up, I get really, really dizzy and my legs get really weak, and I feel like I’m going to pass out.”
On severe days, she can faint and even become unconscious.
She said: “That’s only on really bad days when it’s hot out.”
On how it impacts her ability to do physical activities, she said: “Last year, in sixth grade, I would go to the nurse multiple times a day for it because I always felt like I was going to pass out.
“In class, if I were to stand up then I would be like, ‘I have to go to the nurse. I can’t do this.’ Or I’ll be in PE, and I’ll be like, ‘I have to go to the nurse.’”
The school thought she was making up her symptoms just to get out of PE, because they didn’t know what she was suffering from.
Sadie said: “They were like, ‘You’re doing this to get out of class. It’s probably just anxiety. Go back to class.’ They wouldn’t do anything for it.”
She would do her sports classes and suffer big time for it, which also impacted her mental health.
She continued: “Them not doing anything about it definitely hurt me physically and emotionally.
“Because I was just like, ‘This is rude, and I feel sick and you’re telling me to go to PE and run laps around the football field. I can’t do that.’”
Her mom said: “She wears layers of clothes on 90-degree days and she hates PE — sorry school, not a big fan of PE or physical things.
“I was like, ‘Oh, I kind of felt that way too.’ I feel so horrible that we didn’t pay attention to it.”
Apologising to her daughter, Christina said: “I just didn’t see it at home, babe. At home you were fine. But it’s kind of like us.”
Christina said: “We get out in the world, and the stresses and the anxiety of the world bring upon our symptoms much worse than they would be if we were in the safety and the coolness of our own homes.”
She said: “And I’m so sorry Sadie Grace.”
Her daughter replied: “It’s OK.”
Sadie said her neurological issues make her have more empathy and understanding of her mom’s battle with autoimmune disease MS.
She added: “I feel like if I didn’t have this thing it would be a lot harder to understand what my mom’s going through.
“Like, when my mom’s like, ‘Oh, I’m kind of in pain right now. Oh, I’m having tremors.’ If I didn’t have this, I probably would be like, ‘I don’t really care. I don’t know what you’re talking about.’”

Bridgerton author defends major character’s gender swap for Netflix series

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Bridgerton’ author Julia Quinn has defended the decision to “switch the gender” of Michaela Sterling.
The writer has reflected on the season three finale which sees Masali Baduza as Francesca Bridgerton’s (Hannah Dodd) love interest, who was originally named Michael in the books but has been changed for the Netflix adaption.
She wrote on Instagram: “Thank you to readers and fans for your feedback. I am grateful for your understanding and touched by your deep commitment to the characters of the ‘Bridgerton’ world.
“I ask that you grant me and the Shondaland team some faith as we move forward.
“I think we are going to end up with two stories, one on page and one on screen, and they will both be beautiful and moving.”
Julia noted that “many” fans have expressed “surprise, and for some, disappointment” in the change from her book ‘When He Was Wicked’.
She continued: “Anyone who has seen an interview with me from the past four years knows that I am deeply committed to the ‘Bridgerton’ world becoming more diverse and inclusive as the stories move from book to screen.
“But switching the gender of a major character is a huge change, and so when Jess Brownell first approached me with the idea of turning Michael into Michaela for the show, I needed more information before confessing my agreement.”
For Julia, it was vital that Francesca’s love “abiding love” for her husband John (Victor Alli) should still be featured.
She continued: “I trust Shondaland’s vision for ‘Bridgerton’, but I wanted to be sure that we could remain true to the spirit of the book and of the characters.
“Jess and I talked for a long time about it. More than once. I made it clear that it was extremely important to me that Francesca’s abiding love for John to be shown on screen.”
The author “had to fight” to have their love featured so prominently in her novel, which also sets the scene for her relationship with Michael.
She explained: “I felt that if I didn’t show how deeply she loved John, and how deeply Michael, his cousin, also loved him, then their feelings of guilt at falling in love with each other after John’s death made no sense.”

Asked about her overriding memories of that period in her life, Rachel replied: “If I’m really honest, the thing that comes to mind is anxiety. I was consumed with it.
“I was nervous all the time. Always worried. Feeling insecure. I just didn’t feel safe.”
S Club generated millions during their initial run of success.
Rachel and her bandmates only received a fraction of the money, but she’s now philosophical about the situation.
The brunette beauty explained: “It’s a tricky one. We were young, we were 100 miles an hour; here, there and everywhere, so you put your trust in accountants, lawyers.
“Looking back with what I know now … It was what it was. I don’t look at it in a negative way. We were very lucky to have the opportunity we had.”
Rachel has learned some important lessons through the course of her music career.
Asked if the group were paid enough for the work they did, Rachel replied: “I don’t want to go into that. I’m someone who looks at things cup half-full.
“People do things for a reason, and I want to learn and grow from every experience.”
