U2 snubbed 10m offer for ONE show

OHMYGOSSIP — U2 turned down $10 million for one show in the Caribbean.
The ‘One’ hitmakers are among a host of largely older established acts – including AC/DC, The Cure, Depeche Mode, and Bruce Springsteen – who are not interested in playing private concert for wealthy clients, and even a hefty pay cheque couldn’t get the band to agree to a one-off performance.
Jay Siegan, whose company specialises in organising private gigs by big names, told The Times newspaper: “We recently made an offer to U2 of $10 million to perform on an island in the Caribbean for a private client. They quickly declined.
“As a kid who grew up on their music, it’s a goal for me to get Depeche Mode or the Cure to do one for a client. So far that doesn’t look terribly possible — but goddammit, I’m going to keep trying.”
While Celine Dion – who is battling Stiff Person Syndrome – returned to public performance last month at the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony, shortly before then she had sang five tracks to a group of around 100 sales people in Las Vegas, who had arrived at a function at the Delano Hotel and were stunned by the choice of entertainment for their company mixer.
Jay said: “People were truly shocked. It’s such a rare thing to experience, the impact of having a massive global superstar in a tiny room.
“[The show was] intentionally brief to leave the audience wowed. To put it plainly, it was f***ing amazing.”
Young artists have been embracing performing at private parties as a way of making “serious money” at a time when the industry is struggling.
Jay said: “They are a very real way to bring in serious money for young artists who may struggle to monetise their careers in other ways.
“Artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX and Teddy Swims have all taken offers for exclusive private parties.”
And one favourite at corporate shows is rapper Flo Rida.
Booking Entertainment agency owner Steve Einzig said: “He’s really the best. We work with him a whole lot because you can fit him into lots of different types of demographics.”

Katy Perry reveals ‘weird’ bedtime ritual

OHMYGOSSIP — Katy Perry has a “weird” bedtime ritual.
The ‘Woman’s World’ singer – who has three-year-old daughter Daisy with fiance Orlando Bloom – is obsessed by her lint roller, but rather than just use the device to remove dust and debris from her clothes, she insists on rubbing it over her feet before she gets into bed at night.
Speaking to British Vogue’s ‘In the Bag’ video series, the 39-year-old star said: “I swear by my lint roller.
“I will lint roll the bottom of my feet before I get into bed. Is that weird? Do we all have weird things like that? I think we do. I just shared mine with the world.”
The former ‘American Idol’ judge also admitted that, these days, a lot of the space in her bag is given over to her daughter’s essentials.
She said: “[I] always have a snack, always have water for her. Always have, like, a little toy or something that she can play with.”
Katy also “swears by” a Solawave red light therapy wand – but she “stole” the “handy” gadget from her 47-year-old partner.
She said: “When I’m not wearing make-up, I do some skin prep. Okay, I swear by this little guy. It’s called the Solawave.
“I stole this from Orlando’s [Golden] Globes gift basket.
“It’s just this little pen, and it’s so handy, dandy.
“Turn it on. And it’s red light therapy. And I just go up, up, up. I’m doing work, I’m taking calls. Red light therapy just helps create more collagen, I think, and bring your skin back to life. Health is wealth.”
The ‘Teenage Dream’ singer credited the ‘Lord of the Rings’ actor for being the reason why she carries around so many different vitamins and health supplements.
She said: “Orlando is very healthy, like annoyingly healthy.”

Dame Maggie Smith happy to be killed off in Downton Abbey

OHMYGOSSIP — It was “terribly easy” to convince Dame Maggie Smith that her ‘Downton Abbey’ character should be killed off.
Although fans were devastated to see Maggie’s acerbic alter-ego Violet Crawley, the Dowager Countess of Grantham, pass away from a terminal illness in the 2022 ‘Downton Abbey’ movie ‘A New Era’, Maggie was delighted with the decision.
Producer Gareth Neame told the Daily Mail newspaper: “This was a terribly easy one, because she used to find the whole thing so draining at times.
“Every year, when another series would come round, she’d say: ‘Oh can’t you just kill me off?’ So when we eventually did, I think part of her might have been quite relieved.”
And, Neame admitted it is no longer sustainable to make the ‘Downton Abbey’ TV series, because the actors all want to take on other roles.
He explained: “We’d spend a third to half a year in production. I knew that wasn’t going to be sustainable for ever. The actors wanted to do other things.”
Meanwhile, Maggie, 89, previously admitted she never found her work in ‘Downton’ or the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise “satisfying”.
She told ES Magazine: “I am deeply grateful for the work in ‘Potter’ and indeed ‘Downton’ but it wasn’t what you’d call satisfying. I didn’t really feel I was acting in those things.”
And, she also revealed she had never watched ‘Downton’.
When asked by US TV show ’60 Minutes’ if she was proud of the show, she said: “I was just pausing because I’ve never actually seen it. I don’t sit down and watch it. No, I’ve never watched it.
“I will look at it when it’s all over, maybe, because it’s frustrating – I always see things that I would like to do differently, and think ‘why in the name of God did I do that?'”

He told PEOPLE: “To get to create something with someone that you love is probably one of the most gratifying things other than having a kid with somebody, I think.
“It’s one of those … you truly are creating something from nothing and it’s just like creating a marriage or creating something where you’re like, everything that we are is going into this thing and you want to make it with people that you love.”
And, Zoe said working with Channing brought them closer together.
She explained: “I think going through something creative like this with anybody makes you closer and there’s so much trust there.
“Yeah, we got to work together and go through hard things together and support each other, and it was beautiful.”
Speaking at the film’s Los Angeles premiere, Zoe thanked Channing for letting her be a “psycho control freak” director.
Reading a note to the film’s crew, Zoe said: “From producing to performing to the pep talks to holding my head or my feet while I cried on the bathroom floor because I thought I f***** it all up, thank you for letting me be a complete ODC psycho control freak.
“Thank you for your patience. Making this film with you has been an awfully great adventure. Thank you for trusting me to female direct you. It’s really very cool to get to make a movie, but when you get to do it with the love of your life, it’s even cooler.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zoe also used her speech to thank the crew for all their hard work, saying: “Thank you for] the time it took to make this movie what we dreamed it could be. All of you worked harder than you were being paid to work.
“All of you lost sleep and probably sanity over this project. All of you received a number of weird fever-dream text messages from me at strange hours of the night. But none of you rolled your eyes and called me a bitch, at least to my face, when I said, ‘We’re not there yet.’
“All of you said, ‘Yes, let’s keep going, let’s get there,’ and we did.”
Zoe and Channing got engaged in October 2023 after two years of dating.

When asked if he will be performing at the event, Lenny replied: “I don’t think so. [I’ll] just be hanging out.”

Justin Baldoni tips Blake Lively to direct It Ends With Us sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Baldoni has tipped Blake Lively to direct a sequel to ‘It Ends With Us’.
The ‘Jane the Virgin’ actor co-stars with Blake in the big-screen adaptation of the Colleen Hoover novel, which he also directed, but he has no plans to take on a sequel.
He told Entertainment Tonight: “You’re gonna have to ask me in a little while. We’re gonna take a vacation after this.
“I think there are better people for that one. I think Blake Lively is ready to direct. That’s what I think.”
Meanwhile, author Hoover, previously insisted Blake, 36, and Justin, 40, were the perfect people to play florist Lily Bloom and her abusive partner, neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid, in the movie.
She wrote on Instagram: “Blake Lively, y’all. She’s my dream Lily. And then when I first met Justin Baldoni, who is directing the film for It Ends With Us, I immediately wanted him to be Ryle. I just thought that he had what it takes to play that character, and the good news is he’s gonna be Ryle.”
Meanwhile, Justin admitted he struggled with the hard-hitting storyline and had to take time out during the shoot.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “There were a lot of times where I would have to go privately into a room and just cry or shake it out and try to get him out of me and that energy out of me. Because it’s too real.
“There are too many people that are the real-life Lily Blooms of the world that have to deal with that every single day, and I wanted it to be as real as possible and yet it was very hard to shoot those scenes.”

Holland Taylor, 81, and Sarah Paulson, 49, have no interest in getting married

OHMYGOSSIP — Holland Taylor and Sarah Paulson have no interest in getting married.
The 81-year-old actress has been in a relationship with ‘American Horror Story’ star, 49, since 2015 but admitted explained that they have never really discussed tying the knot because it doesn’t “seem to mean” much to them.
Speaking on SiriusXM Live, she told host Andy Cohen when asked about the possibility of marriage: “I don’t think so. We’ve never… no. We’ve never talked about it with any interest. It doesn’t seem to mean to us what it means to a lot of people. I mean, we have a big generational difference between us, which worries me for her sake. But you know…what can I do?”
The ‘Two and a Half Men’ star noted that the pair of them do have a “wonderful resonance” with each other although because they are at different stages of life with their 32-year age gap, she often has to think back a few decades to be able to understand what her significant other is going through.
She added: “We do have a wonderful resonance. We are very interested in the same kinds of things, and yet we share big differences. A lot of the things that she’s going through that are very emotional and important to her right now, I went through, you know, 40 years ago, 30 years ago.
“And she brings them up in my memory and I think, ‘Oh, of course this is hard. Of course, that’s hard,’ or ‘Of course that’s great. Of course, that’s important to her.”
Last year, Sarah admitted that she “couldn’t imagine” being without Holland and that she felt “very, very lucky” to have her in her life.
Speaking on the ‘Dear Chelsea’ podcast, she told Chelsea Handler: ” I can’t imagine not being with her. I just can’t. I just feel very, very lucky to be around someone so incredibly witty and funny and smart and, I think, incredibly sexy!”

He told People: “Wow. I mean, it’s just different. The whole thing is different. I’m certainly a lot more present and I just love it. I think I was more scared of it the first go around and a little bit more confused, and I was very distracted.
“And now, it’s all I really think about, and all I really care about, and all I want to be around. I’m happy to be in that situation.”
The ‘Blink Twice’ star added that his youngest child – whose name has not been disclosed publicly – is “just cute” and has an unstoppable “zest for life” at such a young age.
He said: “She’s just cute. My daughter’s five and she’s a real passionate, excited person. I mean, she skateboards, she ice skates, she climbs rock walls, she does aerobics, she plays tennis and she’s five. We can’t stop her.
“She just has a real zest and passion for life that’s very infectious and makes me very excited.”
Christian previously explained that he wants to “lead by example” for his children and that he was trying to encourage them to read.
He told Parade: “We lead, of course, hopefully, by example, and try to be the best examples we can be for them. I think it just helps all around. Lately, I’ve been reading the Nancy Drew books to my kids, and I just do what I can to encourage them to be little readers. We started going through three chapters of Nancy Drew every night, and they’re so into it. It’s about the idea of cliff-hangers in the stories, which is keeping them engaged. Their enthusiasm has really kind of got me very excited about it.”

Haley Joel Osment shares his memories of working with Bruce Willis: ‘He’s very close to my heart’

OHMYGOSSIP — Haley Joel Osment has “strong memories” of working with Bruce Willis.
The 36-year-old actor starred opposite Bruce – who retreated from the public eye after being diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) – in the 1999 thriller ‘The Sixth Sense’ and admitted that he keeps his co-star “very close” to his heart 25 years later.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “My memory of it is so strong. It was such a challenging role and another intense experience. I remember me and my dad going to a newsstand the weekend it came out to check the newspaper to see what the numbers were. So it’s a different time.
“Oh, Bruce is very close [to my heart]. It was so wonderful working with him and, I mean, I was so grateful to have had that experience and to meet this guy who was the epitome of a movie star and a really nice person.”
The ‘Blink Twice’ star became the second-youngest performer ever to receive an Academy nomination for a supporting role for his role in the 1999 thriller before briefly being considered for the title role in the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise but his younger sister Emily Osment – who is known for having starred opposite Miley Cyrus in the Disney Channel series ‘Hannah Montana’ – recently called for him to step behind the camera after working with him on the Netflix show ‘The Kominsky Method’ during the pandemic.
Emily, 32, told Us Weekly: “I worked all through COVID, which was terrifying. It was scary to be in a position where you don’t really know if you’re safe or not. And you have no choice but to pick up your mask and work and to have Haley there with me for that. Knowing where he’d been — you know, he’s my brother — it was comforting to have him there.
“He needs to write and direct. And he’ll hire me! Put that in your paper too. And it’ll be great. Haley and I’ve done a lot of voiceover stuff together as well.”

He wrote on Instagram: “Music really can be medicine.
2 years ago I felt like I had absolutely no idea who I was. A year ago I couldn’t step into a studio without falling into complete panic. So to be here right now with 12 beautiful finished songs feels like such a gift.

She told People: “I’m such a ninny when it comes to horror stuff. Not to evoke Pedro Pascal, ’cause I feel like my friendship with him … I don’t want it to get in the way of my talking about this movie, but he’s the person who is always trying to get me to go see scary movies.
“I remember [Pascal] talking about ‘Hereditary’ and being like, ‘You have to see this movie.’ And I was like, ‘There’s no f****** way I am going to see that movie.
“Everyone I know wants me to go see all the Conjuring movies ’cause I love Vera Farmiga, and it’s like… I just can’t do it.

Speaking on the ‘Green Light with Chris Long’ podcast, he said: “It’s funny because like, obviously, we lost to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl two years ago. Nobody for the first 11 years of my career cared that I went to Chiefs games and wore Chiefs gear.
“And then like after that, the next year they’re like, ‘Why are you wearing Chiefs gear?’ I’ve been doing this ever since my brother has been [in Kansas City].
“I think we’ve always, you know, tried to support each other when we can. When you’re both are playing, it’s hard to find the time.”

David Arquette speaks out on feud with Lala Kent

OHMYGOSSIP — David Arquette has “sorted” things with Lala Kent after their feud.
The 52-year-old actor previously branded ‘Vanderpump Rules’ star Lala, 33, as “not the friendliest” when they worked together on the film ‘Spree’ but she apologised to him and he has now explained that the air has been cleared.
He told TooFab: “It’s all sorted out. I’m not typically the type to be gossipy or share too much about that kind of stuff, so to have said that and then to have made her feel like … I understand that she didn’t mean it that way, I didn’t mean it either, to bring it up.”
The ‘Scream’ star went viral when he made the comments on an episode of ‘Watch What Happens Live’ in July, and Lala insisted at the time that she felt “intimidated” on set and apologised if her nerves had made her come across as having an “attitude”.
David – who is married to Christine McLarty and has sons Gus, 10, and eight-year-old Charlie with her as well as Coco, 20, with former ‘Friends’ star Courteney Cox – noted that the nature of gossiping is rife in the reality TV world and while he doesn’t really want to be a part of it himself, thinks he and his family could star in their own reality show.
“It’s a tricky world!. That whole world is all about stuff like that and people talking and this and that.
“In real life, it’s one of my least favorite things. I don’t want to be part of this! In real life, it’s one of my least favorite things. I don’t want to be part of this! Our family reality show would be silly, lots of animals.”

Johnny Knoxville and Naomi Nelson finalise divorce two years after filing

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny Knoxville and Naomi Nelson have finalised their divorce.
The 53-year-old reality star tied the knot with director Naiomi, 43, in 2010 but they called it quits in 2021 and now, according to documents obtained by TMZ on Friday (09.08.24), the pair have finally parted ways legally.
The outlet claimed that the couple – who have Rocko, 14, and 12-year-old Arlo together – have “have hashed out a written agreement about their property and marriage or domestic partnership rights” and have also come to an agreement when it comes to child custody, although the details were not made public.
The ‘Jackass’ star submitted documents in Los Angeles in 2022, which claimed he and Naomi had been separated since September 2021 and he was seeking joint legal and physical custody of their kids.
He cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce, and claims he has separate property to Naomi.
The ‘Bad Grandpa’ star also has a 28-year-old daughter, Madison Clapp, from his first marriage to Melanie Clapp, who he was married to from 1995 to 2008.
Shortly after filing for divorce, Johnny admitted that he has slowed down his old partying ways and though he still has “one too many” on occasion, it is not a regular occurrence because he would be a “fool” to still live like that.
He said: “I had to slow down. I was running hot. You’re a fool if you live like you did when you were 30 at 50. If you have the same ideas you had at 30 when you’re 50, you’re not growing as a person.
“Sometimes I still have one too many… And you know what? That’s fine! It’s fine, Mom! Just every now and then.”
