Sabrina Carpenter hails ‘pop icon’ Christina Aguilera

OHMYGOSSIP — Sabrina Carpenter believes Christina Aguilera is a pop “icon”.
The 25-year-old singer was a huge fan of Christina, 43, during her younger years, and the ‘Candyman’ hitmaker inspired Sabrina to pursue a career in the music business.
Speaking to Paper magazine, Sabrina shared: “I love Christina. That was one of my very first idols and icons.
“I was 11 years old and you couldn’t get her name out of my mouth. She’s very special to me. Those songs raised me.”
Sabrina has received lots of advice throughout her career, but she always wanted to be seen as a “multi-genre” artist.
The ‘Espresso’ hitmaker said: “I’ll put it this way: when I was younger, I was told by a lot of grown men that I needed to pick a genre, stay in that genre, be that genre and do one thing. And there wasn’t even a genre that excited me at the time.
“It was their idea of what I should be. I was like 12 or 13. I know that sounds insane, but that was put into my head. So I think secretly my entire life, the goal was to be able to create something that felt multi-genre but also so distinctly myself.
“Sonically, all the songs are different, but the lyrical perspective is all Sabrina. It’s all me and it’s all stories in my life. That’s the throughline.”
Sabrina also hopes that her upcoming album, ‘Short n’ Sweet’, will satisfy everyone’s wishes.
She explained: “If your favourite song is ‘Espresso’, then you’ll have another song that you love. And if your favourite song is ‘Please’ Please Please’, you’ll have another song that you love. And if you hate both of those songs, then listen to a different album.
“I’m grateful for the people for tuning in, whether it be ten years ago, five years ago, yesterday or tomorrow, in two years.
“There’s definitely some people that are still not tuned in. I plan on tuning them in.”

She said on the ‘Give Them Lala’ podcast: “They all have a really special place in my heart.
“I had a really fun time with Ariana when I first was on the show. Katie, my friendship with her [during] season ten, I thought that that friendship was really on point.
“When I think back, I’m like, ‘Wow, even though it was a hard time in my life, that friendship really got me through a tough time in my life.’”
Despite this, Lala acknowledged that she’s drifted apart from Katie over recent times.
She said: “Katie and I were very close.
“I don’t think now we have anything in common and that’s OK.
“I don’t even know what we would talk about [now]. We’re just in such different places and I think that friendship was meant to be the way it was for the time being.”
Lala believes her friendship with Katie simply “ran its course”.
The reality TV star added: “I have nothing but fond memories of the friendship I had with Ariana and Doute. But people change and move on.”
Meanwhile, Lala previously accused Ariana of behaving like a diva on ‘Vanderpump Rules’.

Lisa Vanderpump hits back at Rachel Leviss

OHMYGOSSIP — Lisa Vanderpump has rubbished Rachel Leviss’ recent criticism of ‘Vanderpump Rules’.
The 63-year-old star has hit back the former cast member after Rachel suggested that Vanderpump Rules’ should pay for her therapy.
Lisa told Us Weekly: “She said that, but I think she has had a therapist on hand the whole time through filming.”
Lisa also insisted that Bravo, the TV network that broadcasts the show, is already aware of the pressures that the cast members face.
She said: “I think Bravo [is] very cognizant of that – of being there even when you’re filming, saying somebody’s available for you to talk to. So, I don’t quite understand what that means.”
Rachel recently claimed that she found it “hard” to watch the last season of ‘Vanderpump Rules’.
The 29-year-old beauty quit the reality show after her affair with Tom Sandoval was made public, and Rachel admitted that she struggled to hear her former co-stars talking about her on the last season.
Asked if she would ever return to ‘Vanderpump Rules’, Rachel told Us Weekly: “It would take all-expenses paid therapy. I would need a therapist on call and therapy sessions after every single filming session!
“I just don’t know if I see a path forward because it’s not a healthy dynamic. I’m trying to protect my mental health and I’m trying to live an authentic life.
“It was a hard thing to watch the show this past season and have them talk about me constantly. I was not there to defend myself and that was hard.”
Despite this, Rachel remains open to the idea of appearing on another TV show at some stage.
She said: “I could see myself doing a competition show. I think that’s the extent of it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sabrina Carpenter insists “there’s more” to her than just hit songs.

“I’m always extremely flattered to be grouped in with the other women and girls who I’ve idolised and looked up to who came from that, but I feel very distant from it.”
Sabrina released her debut album, ‘Eyes Wide Open’, back in 2015. But the pop star feels she’s entered a new phase of her career.
The ‘Please Please Please’ hitmaker shared: “For the people who love those early records and listen to them, I love you for that.

Julianne Hough has had a ‘few’ supernatural encounters

OHMYGOSSIP — Julianne Hough has had a “few” supernatural experiences.
The dancer and actress, 36, opened up about her spooky run-ins while addressing the fallout from her “energy work session” in 2020 that saw her body being worked on – which fans said looked like an exorcism after footage of the practice went viral online.
‘Dancing With the Stars’ champion Julianne has now said on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s ‘Off the Vine’ podcast: “I’ve had a few of those supernatural experiences and had a lot of people be like, ‘Oh, she’s lost the plot.’:
She added she vividly remembered social media users claiming she had “demons and an exorcist coming out of her bum” when footage of Dr John Amaral working with her at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, spread online.
Julianne added: “Of course, that was almost five years ago and now it’s so much more accessible.
“People understand what’s happening. Energy is everything.”
In her viral “energy session” broadcast on Facebook, Julianne’s body was seen flailing and she let out seemingly involuntary screams as Dr Amaral floated his hand above her body.
She told viewers of the clip it had left her feeling “liberated on the inside”, adding: “I can speak my truth clearly, stand in my power and not feel overtaken by emotion, my mind and I feel free inside myself to just be.

Zoë Kravitz’s new movie slapped with trigger warning

OHMYGOSSIP — Zoë Kravitz’s new movie has been slapped with a trigger warning.
The 35-year-old ‘Batman’ actress features in Amazon MGM Studios’ ‘Blink Twice’, billed as a “psychological thriller about the abuse of power” – and on its release on Wednesday (21.08.24) the alert was posted on the social media accounts for the movie.
It said: “We are proud to finally share ‘Blink Twice’ with audiences in theatres worldwide this week.
“While this is a fictionalised movie, it contains mature themes and depictions of violence – including sexual violence.
“This may be upsetting or triggering for some viewers. For resources that offer support, visit BlinkTwiceResources.com.”
The post comes after the recently released domestic violence drama ‘It Ends With Us’ was slammed by some for not giving audiences an advance warning about its content.
Starring Blake Lively, 36, and directed by her co-star Justin Baldoni, 40, it did include the message in its end credits: “If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, help is available. Visit: www.nomore.org for information and support.”
Bridgette Stumpf, founder and executive director of Network for Victim Recovery of DC, was among its critics – and recently wrote in an essay for The Hollywood Reporter ‘It End With Us’ “ultimately fails the survivors it is supposed to advocate for”.
She said it was guilty of “glossing over its domestic violence content in the film’s marketing”, and by “not providing any content warnings prior to the start of the film”.
Bridgette hit out: “When watching the film in a packed theatre with a colleague on opening night, our first reaction as the film ended was disappointment that no resources were immediately offered for survivors as soon as credits rolled.
“Later, there was an end credits message, though it came after many had left.”

Tom Brady hails son Jack ‘a blessing’ on his 17th birthday

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Brady has marked his son’s 17th birthday by hailing him as a “blessing”.
The retired NFL quarterback, 47, paid the tribute on Thursday (22.08.24) when his boy Jack – who he has with his 53-year-old actress ex Bridget Moynahan – marked the milestone.
He captioned a carousel of images of him with Jack, including a photo of them enjoying a golf game together: “Happy 17th birthday to the kindest, sweetest, most thoughtful 17-year-old, I know.
“You are truly a blessing in my life and I am so grateful to watch you mature into a young man.
“Your love of family, friends, school, athletics, hard work and dedication to everything you put your energy into are just some of your amazing qualities. I love spending every minute with you and I cherish our time together.
“Those are all my favourite things about you.
“My least favourite is that you can beat me in one-on-one now (eye-rolling and crying laughing face emojis.)
“I love you always and forever, happy birthday, dad.”
One birthday tribute image uploaded by Tom showed Jack smiling for a selfie with his famous father and spending time with his half-siblings Benjamin, 14, and 11-year-old Vivian, who Tom co-parents with his model ex-wife Gisele Bündchen, 44, from whom he split in 2022.
Tom and Bridget started dating in 2007, with the NFL star finding out early into their romance the actress was pregnant with his baby.
The devoted family man recently told how he regrets agreeing to his Netflix comedy roast as his children were “affected” by the gags.
Tom was targeted with a string of close-to-the-knuckle gags during the live special, which aired on 5 May from the Kia Forum, California, about his divorce from Brazilian supermodel Gisele.
Tom told ‘The Pivot’ podcast: “I loved when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way that affected my kids.
“It’s the hardest part about like, the bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way and then all of a sudden you realise, ‘I wouldn’t do that again,’ because of the way that affected actually the people that I care about the most in the world.
“So it makes you in some ways a better parent going through it because sometimes you’re naive you don’t know or you get a little like, ‘Oh s***!’”

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Wahlberg’s mother used to obsess over George Clooney.
‘The Departed’ star Mark, 53, opened up about his mum Alma Wahlberg’s fixation in an interview with Variety, and said it started after she met the ‘ER’ actor on the set of ‘The Perfect Storm’ in 1999.
He said: “My mom Alma Wahlberg came to the set and met George and got a picture, and she had it on her wall.
“I think she liked that picture more than she liked the picture of her own kids.”
Mark added his mum thought George, 63, was as big a fan of hers, saying: “(She was like), ‘Oh, he likes me a lot. He loves me a lot. He told me he wants to go out with me. I told him I couldn’t.’
“But yeah, she was convinced that he was, like, hitting on her.
“I said, ‘I don’t know about that, Mom.’”
Mark also joked about how he gave his blessing to his mum to pursue a relationship with George: “I said, ‘Well, f*** it, have a baby with him!’ I want a little brother. George can be my stepfather. It’s all good.’”
The pair clearly never got together and George is now settled with his human rights lawyer wife Amal Clooney, 46, who he married in 2014.
It is not known if Mark’s mum remarried following her 1982 divorce from the actor’s father Donald.
Mark also opened up about his fond memories of shooting ‘The Perfect Storm’ with George and its 81-year-old director Wolfgang Petersen, calling it “such an amazing experience”.
The actor revealed his dad visited him on set for the first time while filming ‘The Departed’, shot in 2006.
Mark added: “He came the day I was shooting with Jack Nicholson. He wanted to see Jack.
“My dad loved the cinema. He was not impressed with any of my other work until I started acting and then even with ‘The Departed’ he said, ‘Now you can call yourself an actor. I’m not impressed with the pay cheque, I’m impressed with the performance.’”
Mark is the youngest of Alma and Donald’s nine children, with his mum passing away in 2021 and his dad dying in 2008.
The actor announced his mum’s death with the note on Instagram: “My angel. Rest in peace.”

Michael Madsen ‘definitely not guilty’ of domestic violence

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Madsen’s lawyer has declared the actor is “definitely not guilty” of domestic violence.
The ‘Reservoir Dogs’ star, 66, was taken into custody in Malibu, California, on 17 August and arrested on a charge of misdemeanour domestic battery after an incident with his 64-year-old estranged wife DeAnna.

The attorney added: “Michael has shown immense compassion and restraint during this period towards his estranged wife.
“He’s definitely not guilty of domestic violence.”
DeAnna also told The Hollywood Reporter: “Michael is struggling with his own personal issues. Myself and our children have been supporting him to the best of our ability. We would request privacy at this time.”
Arrest records show Michael was released on bail set at $20,000 and a representative for the actor said on 19 August the ‘Kill Bill’ star had returned home.

Matthew Perry’s suspected ‘ketamine queen’ dealer may have referred to him as Chandler Bing in coded drugs messages

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew Perry’s suspected ‘ketamine queen’ dealer may have referred to him as Chandler Bing in coded drugs messages.
Jasveen Sangha, 41, is one of five people who have been indicted over the death of Matthew – who shot to fame playing neurotic Chandler on NBC’s ‘Friends’ sitcom from 1994 to 2004 – was killed on 28 October, 2023, aged 54 from the “acute effects” of anaesthetic ketamine after getting into the hot-tub of his $6million mansion in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles.
Sangha – who has been nicknamed ‘LA’s ketamine queen’ is said in plea agreement documents signed by Matthew’s acquaintance Erik Fleming to have referred to Matthew “using a name of a well-known character that (Perry) portrayed in a television series”.
Fleming, 54, used his agreement with authorities to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine and one count of distribution of the horse tranquiliser resulting in death.
Sangha has yet to enter a plea in her case and Fleming’s agreement didn’t specify which name she allegedly used for Perry.
Matthew’s other noteable TV roles included parts in ‘The Odd Couple’, ‘Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip’ and ‘Go On’.
The three others arrested in connection with the actor’s death were his personal assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, 59 and two doctors, Mark Chavez, 54, and 42-year-old Salvador Plasencia.
Iwamasa pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death and admitted to injecting Perry with ketamine on the day he died.
Chavez has pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine after admitting to selling the drug to Plasencia.
Plasencia has – like Sangha – yet to cut a plea deal.
Matthew is thought to have paid the to doctors around $55,000 in cash in the weeks leading up to his death.
US Attorney Martin Estrada said about the duo when announcing the results of a long-running investigation into the actor’s passing: “These defendants cared more about profiting off of Mr Perry than caring for his well-being.
“Matthew Perry’s journey began with unscrupulous doctors who abused their position of trust because they saw him as a payday, to street dealers who gave him ketamine in unmarked vials.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Mindy Kaling has told Ben Affleck to “hang in there”.
The comic and actress, 45, was speaking at the 2024 Democratic National Convention and referenced the recent divorce filing made by the 52-year-old actor’s wife Jennifer Lopez, 55, while she was “giving a shout-out” to the “amazing delegation from my home state, Massachusetts”.
She said in her speech: “I love you, Massachusetts! Everyone is always hating on us, but they just don’t get it!”
“Go (Red) Sox! Go Jayson Tatum! Ben Affleck, hang in there!”
She also referenced Ben’s recent TV adverts for Dunkin’, adding: “Dunkin’ Donuts is the best coffee in the world!”
Ben’s wife Jennifer filed for divorce from him after more than two years of marriage on Tuesday (20.08.24.)
She lodged her submission for their split without a lawyer in Los Angeles County Superior Court, and listed 26 April, 2024 as their date of separation.
Marilyn Chinitz, a matrimonial partner at the Blank Rome LLP firm, told People about Jennifer’s decision to file without legal support: “I think that she most likely just wanted to get this done, (that) there was a lot of hesitation and hemming and hawing back and forth, and it’s a statement: ‘I’m moving forward, I’m filing and I’m doing it on my own.’”
The date of Jennifer’s filing coincided with the second anniversary of her and Ben’s wedding ceremony in Georgia in 2022.
A source added to People about her filing: “She was done waiting and the date she (filed on) speaks a tonne.”
Ben was spotted without his wedding ring on Tuesday as he walked around Los Angeles.
Another insider told People Jennifer is “very disappointed” and “sad”, but said Ben “hasn’t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage”.
They went on: “He hasn’t shown any commitment and interest in making their marriage work.
“It’s gotten to the point that she just needs to look out for herself.”
