Kim Kardashian invited to appear on ‘Love Island: All Stars’ by ITV bosses

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV bosses have invited Kim Kardashian to appear on ‘Love Island: All Stars’.
The reality star, 43, who divorced her scandal-mired ex Kanye West, 47, in 2022, got the invite after she uploaded six raunchy selfies of herself on social media with the caption: “A bombshell just entered the villa.”
Not only was Kim then flooded with comments from her millions of followers saying they would love to see her enter the ITV2 show, but chiefs at the corporation also sent her a message.
The official Love Island account said: “‘All Stars’ is back in January 2025 if you fancy it Kim.
And the ‘US Love Island’ account added in a post for her online: “We’d couple up with you any day.”
‘Love Island: All Stars’ has only featured previous contestants but producers seem keen on making an exception for Kim.
Famous faces who have also said they are ‘Love Island’ fan include Adele, 36, Stormzy, 31, and 34-year-old Margot Robbie, who had a birthday party themed around the show when she hit 30.
The first series of ‘Love Island: All Stars’ – a spin-off of the dating game show ‘Love Island’ featuring former contestants from previous series – started broadcasting on 15 January, with the launch episode airing across both ITV and ITV2 for the first time in the show’s history.
‘Love Island’ presenter Maya Jama, 29, returned to present the series, with narrator Iain Stirling, 36, also coming back to do his voiceovers.
The series is the shortest in the show’s history, ending after 36 days on 19 February.
It was won by Molly Smith, 29, and Tom Clare, 24, who were previously contestants on the sixth and ninth series respectively.

Jon Voight worked on acting technique early in career by going on date with different girl every week

OHMYGOSSIP — Jon Voight worked on his acting technique early in his career by going on a date with a different girl every week.
The 85-year-old Hollywood veteran, who won a new generation of fans playing grizzled ex-convict Mickey Donovan in ‘Ray Donovan’, said he didn’t try to “score” with the girls, but used the encounters to sharpen his listening and talking skills for his TV and movie roles.
He told Variety: “I think they appreciated me because I wasn’t trying to score. “I’d listen and try to talk about what they wanted to talk about. I think it made me a better actor.”
Jon also said he honed his craft by reading theatre critic Kenneth Tynan’s book ‘He That Plays the King’ and making copies of all the writer’s reviews of Laurence Olivier’s performances in the hope he would once get glowing feedback for his work.
He added: “I knew it might take years or decades, or I might not even get there, but that was what I wanted to aim for.”
Jon broke into acting after telling his father he was moving to New York City after graduation to pursue a career in showbiz.
The Variety profile on Jon – who last year fronted a series for Amazon on Biblical stories – said his dad worried about how he would make a living before his breakout role opposite Dustin Hoffman in ‘Midnight Cowboy’.
Jon also used the Variety interview to say he believes his daughter Angelina Jolie, 49, has been “exposed to propaganda”.
He made the remark over the actress’ views on the Israel-Hamas war – which he said have been influenced by “anti-Semitic people”.
Jon added: “She has been exposed to propaganda. She’s been influenced by anti-Semitic people.
“Angie has a connection to the UN, and she’s enjoyed speaking out for refugees. But these people are not refugees.”
Jon was referring to Angelina’s former position as a special envoy of the UN High Commission for Refugees.
Pro-Israel Jon’s outburst comes weeks after he said he was proud of his daughter, and his granddaughter Vivienne, 16, after the musical the pair produced, ‘The Outsiders’, won four gongs at the 2024 Tony Awards – including Best Musical.
He told TMZ at the time of their victory: “I’m very proud of Vivienne. I’m really proud of Angie because she really tries to encourage each of the kids to be what they want to be.
“I’m sure Angie contributed with the actors and Angie’s a great director.”

Giovanni Pernice ‘rejects any claim’ he was ‘threatening or abusive’ to Amanda Abbington on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’

OHMYGOSSIP — Giovanni Pernice “rejects any claim” he was “threatening or abusive” towards Amanda Abbington during their ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ rehearsals.
The professional dancer, 33, who left the BBC ballroom show over the allegations, added he had never threatened the actress, 50, after she said in a round of Press interviews she had been subjected to “humiliating behaviour” of a “sexual nature” while making the series – while stressing she was not claiming to have been a victim of sexual harassment.
In a statement issued to ITV, Giovanni’s lawyers said about the ongoing BBC probe into the claims: “We would urge people to wait for the review’s conclusion and not to pay heed to very serious and defamatory allegations that have no evidence in support of them.
“Giovanni rejects any claim of threatening or abusive behaviour, and having provided the BBC with his evidence, is confident that the review will prove this.”
The lawyers added Giovanni was “cooperating fully” with the BBC’s review and added “all parties” have been “asked to respect this process and to not speak to the media before it concludes”.
They concluded: “As part of the evidence-led review, the BBC has shared the allegations it has been able to substantiate with us. They do not resemble Amanda’s latest allegations, given to ITV, in any shape or form.”
‘Sherlock’ actress Amanda had told Channel 4 there are 50 hours of rehearsal room footage exposing the alleged toxic atmosphere behind the scenes of ‘Strictly’ – which she said was being “blocked” during the BBC’s investigation.
She added on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ show she had texted a ‘Strictly’ producer in her first week of rehearsals about Giovanni to say: “This is awful. He hates me.”

‘The Archers’ actress Ysanne Churchman dead aged 99

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Archers’ actress Ysanne Churchman has died aged 99.
Best known for voicing Grace Archer in the BBC’s long-running Radio 4 rural drama in the 1950s, she passed away peacefully at home 4 July, a statement from the broadcaster on behalf of the family said on Friday (26.07.24.)
Ysanne – who also starred in a string of BBC TV shows – is considered an icon of the show as, on 22 September, 1955, 20 million listeners tuned in to ‘The Archers’ to hear her Grace character die in her husband’s arms after she tried to rescue a horse from a barn fire.
Her character’s death coincided with the launch of rival broadcaster ITV – sparking speculation BBC killed off her character to overshadow the opening night.
Current editor of ‘The Archers’ Jeremy Howe said: “We are saddened by the death of Ysanne Churchman, whose role as the inimitable Grace Archer captured the nation.
“She will be much missed by all at ‘The Archers’ and our hearts are with her friends and family.
“In the 1950s, Ysanne was at the heart of one of Ambridge’s most shocking storylines, with listeners so distraught at her character’s death they subsequently jammed BBC switchboards.
“Ysanne was a wonderful actress and off air she campaigned tirelessly for equal pay for women in the industry.
“She will be much missed by all at ‘The Archers’ and our hearts are with her friends and family.”
Following Grace’s dramatic exit from ‘The Archers’, Ysanne kept working for the BBC in radio and TV.
She reappeared in the radio show in various roles until the 1980s but not as Grace – and also voiced the character of Alpha Centauri in ‘Doctor Who’ in the early 1970s.
Her TV highlights included the role of Mrs Atterbow in Dennis Potter’s 1993 drama ‘Lipstick on Your Collar’.
She married Tony Pilgrim, a senior BBC engineer, in 1951 and the pair celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary in 2011.
He died in January 2015 after 63 years of marriage and Ysanne retired in 1993, but continued to do occasional voice-over and television appearances.

Cailee Spaeny studied Sigourney Weaver to prepare for Alien: Romulus role

OHMYGOSSIP — Cailee Spaeny had Sigourney Weaver’s performance as Ripley “on repeat” to prepare for her role in ‘Alien: Romulus’.
The 26-year-old star plays protagonist Rain Carradine in the new installment in the long-running sci-fi franchise and did her best to learn from her predecessor’s iconic portrayal of the protagonist in the original picture.
Cailee told Total Film magazine: “I had her performance playing on repeat for months. I was sort of hoping that something would seep in.”
However, the ‘Priscilla’ star emphasised that she was never “intimidated” by her leading lady status as a result of Sigourney’s work.
Cailee said: “But I never felt intimated. That role wasn’t written for a woman, so there was real freedom.
“And because Sigourney injected all of herself into it, that then opens up any other female who’s entering this franchise into not ever feeling that weird weight or pressure of playing a female lead.”
The new film – scheduled for release next month – takes place between the events of the 1979 movie ‘Alien’ and its 1982 sequel ‘Aliens’ and Cailee is pleased to pay homage to the defining flicks in the series.
She said: “It was so much fun to, timeline-wise, place our story between one and two.
“As a fan, you’re able to connect the dots. So hopefully people can watch ‘Alien’, and then ‘Alien: Romulus’, and then ‘Aliens’. And that will be a satisfying thing.”
Cailee also detailed how director Fede Alvarez, who has previously helmed ‘Evil Dead’ and ‘Don’t Breathe’, couldn’t resist the chance to put an element of horror into the movie.
She said: “He doesn’t know how to not put that spin on it.
“That is just his instinct. He’s waiting to do something strange and twisted. And you know he’s got it when you’re right on the edge of going, ‘Should we do this?’ That’s when you know, ‘OK, Fede is in his sweet spot.'”

Roland Emmerich: ‘James Cameron is very overbearing’

OHMYGOSSIP — Roland Emmerich found James Cameron “very overbearing” when they attempted to collaborate.
Emmerich, 68, had been interested in directing the remake of the 1966 film ‘Fantastic Voyage’ that Cameron, 69, is producing but admitted he dropped out of the project because he found Cameron too difficult to deal with.
Speaking during Collider’s Directors on Directing event at San Diego Comic-Con, he said: “James Cameron is very overbearing, and so I, at one point, just gave up. Because it’s like, ‘Is it your movie or my movie?’
“We were in very beginning stages. Because I said, ‘Gosh, why is he so overbearing?’ I have to say, I do my stuff, and when I can’t do my stuff, I’m totally not interested. As simple as that. So when somebody else wants to say something to me and is more powerful than me, I drop out.”
The 1966 sci-fi movie ‘Fantastic Voyage’ starred Stephen Boyd and Raquel Welch and told the story of a submarine crew who were shrunk down to enter the body of a scientist who suffered a brain injury.
Speaking in April about the movie, James told Variety: “We’ve been developing it for a number of years, and we plan to go ahead with it very soon. Raquel Welch is not available, but we think we can make a pretty good movie.
“Science fiction allows us to imagine futures that can emerge from our present day. When ‘Star Wars’ came along, science fiction seemed to suddenly become very upbeat, [all about] entertainment and adventure. But the history has always been about warning, about the misuse of technology and the misuse of science.”

James Woods urged to ‘remain invisible’ during Oppenheimer promotion

OHMYGOSSIP — James Woods claims he was warned not to promote ‘Oppenheimer’, due to his conservative views.
The 77-year-old actor is an executive producer on the Oscar-winning film but alleged he was “gently” discouraged from taking part in any publicity for the movie due to his X feed, where he has supported Donald Trump in the past.
Speaking on Megyn Kelly’s SiriusXM show, he said: “When ‘Oppenheimer’ came out, there was a discussion about my Twitter, and it was gently suggested that I basically remain invisible — which was painful.
“On the other hand, I’m a pragmatic person and I thought: A lot of people put their effort into this, so I’m just going to be an invisible pariah because the people who are going to be voting for Oscars — which is very important to films, to get Oscars because it does help with the financial reward and historical archive in which it will rest forever. I don’t want to deprive those people.
“I don’t want some nutcase to come out of the woodwork and fabricate some ridiculous story about me, I’ve had a million of them and they’re all lies. I don’t want that to happen and have the clickbait story be, ‘James Woods is the executive producer of Oppenheimer, we’re not going to watch that movie!’ So I stepped back and basically took one for the team. You wouldn’t even know — I was not even invited to the Producers Guild of America awards. I’m a producer on the picture! And I was not invited to go to the Producers Guild of America awards. Which was fine.”
However, James did receive a shoutout at the Oscars from friend and producer Chuck Roven, who thanked him for bringing the book ‘American Prometheus’ – on which the film is based – to his attention.
Speaking previously to The Hollywood Reporter, Roven said: “With Oppenheimer, it was kind of a serendipitous thing. I had been approached by J. David Wargo and James Woods. I never knew Wargo, but James introduced me to him because they were friendly. And Wargo had the underlying rights to [Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin’s] book, ‘American Prometheus’.”

Ralf Little tipped for Strictly

OHMYGOSSIP — Ralf Little has been tipped to take part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The former ‘Death In Paradise’ star has been given odds of 4/7 by the bookies to take to the dancefloor on the upcoming series of the BBC One dance show, according to The Sun.
Ralf, 44, shocked fans when he quit ‘Death In Paradise’ earlier this year after four years playing DI Neville Parker but he is moving on with a new TV series with ‘Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps’ co-star Will Mellor.
The pair will face a series of challenges on each episode of ‘Will And Ralf Should Know Better’ as they navigate life in their forties.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “A lot has changed for Will and Ralf since Two Pints — they were 25 and 21 when they met.
“But they have stayed great pals throughout and that really comes across in the intimate, frank conversations they have along the way.
“They’ve got their joint podcast, but it will be nostalgic for ‘Two Pints’ fans to see them on telly.
“It will also re-introduce the fellas to those who now know Ralf better as ‘Death In Paradise’s DI Neville Parker, and Will from ‘Strictly’ and as ‘Corrie’s Harvey Gaskell.”
Ralf, 44, is “thrilled” to be working with his old pal.
He said: “I am thrilled to be working with Will again as it’s always so much fun.
“This time we get to explore how we should be living in the modern world while educating ourselves, and having a laugh at the same time.”

Amanda Abbington’s parents discuss Giovanni Pernice controversy

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Abbington’s parents feel “sorry” for Giovanni Pernice.
The 50-year-old actress has alleged that the 33-year-old professional dancer was abusive to her during training for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and her parents John and Patsy have admitted they spend all day worrying about the controversy.
John told Mail+: “I’d feel sorry for him if Amanda wasn’t the one involved in this. Like other dancers on ‘Strictly’ he was put in a situation where he was expected to train people when he’d not been taught how to train.
“They were let out of dance school at a young age. Giovanni started at ‘Strictly’ at 21 or 22. How on earth can you train people when you’ve not been trained to do that?”
Patsy added: “We just want it dealt with.”
John went on: “As soon as I wake up in the mornings and when I go to bed at night I am worrying about it. It’s the after effects I worry about too. Will she be able to carry on with her career?”
Patsy said: “She has apologised to us because of what we’re going through. It’s been hard.”
Meanwhile, Giovanni “rejects any claim” he was “threatening or abusive” towards Amanda during their ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ rehearsals.
He added he had never threatened the actress after she said in a round of press interviews she had been subjected to “humiliating behaviour” of a “sexual nature” while making the series – while stressing she was not claiming to have been a victim of sexual harassment.
In a statement issued to ITV, Giovanni’s lawyers said about the ongoing BBC probe into the claims: “We would urge people to wait for the review’s conclusion and not to pay heed to very serious and defamatory allegations that have no evidence in support of them.

Laura Whitmore confirms she’s spoken to BBC about ‘inappropriate’ Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Whitmore has spoken to the BBC about Giovanni Pernice’s “inappropriate behaviour”.
The 39-year-old presenter took part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2016 and has previously admitted dancing with the professional left her “extremely uncomfortable”, but while she has not made an official complaint about his alleged conduct, she confirmed she has been speaking to the show’s inquiry into alleged abusive training methods.
Laura has spoken out to offer support to Amanda Abbington, who has alleged the dancer was abusive when they trained together for the last series before she quit the show, and admitted she isn’t the only former contestant sharing their experiences.
She said in a statement shared to Instagram: “I was trying not to comment on recent press speculation until the BBC review is complete but feel there is a lot of misinformation in the press and I want to help and show support by setting the record straight.
“I was asked to speak to the BBC along with six people that I know of (who deserve anonymity as they don’t want to be dragged through the press), about inappropriate behaviour they experienced similar to mine with the same individual.”
The former ‘Love Island’ host revealed she had initially “raised concerns” while competing on the show and initially thought she was the only one to have had a negative experience, so hopes the complaints are listened to.
She added: “I initially raised concerns back in 2016. I thought my experience was specific to me but I’ve since learned 1 was wrong. The aim of this is to show a pattern of behaviour that I believe needs to stop.
“My evidence is to support other people’s experience. It’s a shame it takes this for someone to be heard. I am not looking for anything just an acceptance that what happened to me in the rehearsal rooms during my time on BBC Strictly was wrong and that it won’t happen to anyone else again.
“Because I have not made an official complaint, and am providing evidence of my experience to support the investigation, not all the communication will be passed on to all parties involved. ”
Laura also hit out at the cruel trolling Amanda has experienced since speaking out.
She added: “Victim blaming must stop or we will never get better. I’ve tried to speak up in the correct way. I know the BBC and all outlets continue to do their best to be better, but for that to happen we must speak up.”
The ‘Survival of the Fittest’ host has previously admitted she felt “broken” after her ‘Strictly’ experience.
She said: “I was placed with a dance partner I was extremely uncomfortable with and in the end I felt broken, I cried every day”.
The BBC have not commented on her statement.
Giovanni has denied any wrongdoing.

“To be able to host this magical evening with my best friend and TV wife Amanda Holden is the icing on the cake for me.

“It’s going to be such a fun night.”
This year’s ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ winner Sydnie Christmas is already confirmed to be performing at the show, and Amanda is very “proud”.

Harrison Ford reflects on MCU legacy left by William Hurt

OHMYGOSSIP — Harrison Ford is “delighted” to follow the late William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The 82-year-old star will appear in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ as the US president and has reflected on the legacy left by the veteran actor, who played the character in five films, beginning with 2008’s ‘The Incredible Hulk’ and ending with 2021’s ‘Black Widow’, before he passed away in 2022.
He told People magazine: “He laid a very firm foundation for the character, I respect him enormously in the work that he did in his lifetime.
“God bless his soul. I’m delighted to be able to stand on his shoulders and continue playing the character.”
The ‘Star Wars’ actor admitted it “feels good” to be joining the MCU.
He added: “Feels good, feels officially good. I’d been watching really good actors having a really good time working in the Marvel universe and I’m delighted to now be one of them.
“They’re good actors, I’m not saying I’m a great actor, I’m just saying.”
Harrison joined the movie’s lead Anthony Mackie on stage during Marvel’s presentation at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday (27.07.24), where his co-star introduced him as ‘Mr. President’ and also confirmed the ‘Indiana Jones’ star will appear as a red version of the Hulk in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’.
Harrison said on stage: “I am delighted and I am proud to become a member of the Marvel Universe.
“I have been watching fantastic actors having a good time… and I wanted a piece of the action. Fantastic! Marvelous, even.”
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige explained the film will prove a more “grounded” entry into the MCU, and Anthony couldn’t be happier with his co-stars, which also include Tim Blake Nelson, Danny Ramirez and Giancarlo Esposito.
He said: “I never realised how heavy the shield was, and my costume is pretty heavy.
“I couldn’t have a better group of people…to help me with that responsibility.”
Directed by Julius Onah, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ will be released in February 2025.

Robert Downey Jr returning to Avengers – but not as Iron Man

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Downey Jr. is returning for the next ‘Avengers’ movies – but not as Iron Man.
The 59-year-old actor – who played the snarky hero from the eponymous 2008 flick until the character’s gut-wrenching death in 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’ – was unveiled as the villainous Victor Von Doom aka Dr. Doom in the upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ at Comic Con on Saturday (27.07.24).
The presentation saw Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirm Anthony and Joe Russo would be returning to the franchise to direct ‘Doomsday’, and they explained the film would lead towards an adaptation of the popular comic-book ‘Secret Wars’, but not before the return of a familiar face.
As over 20 people in olive green robes and masks assembled on the stage, Joe Russo teased: “If we’re going to bring Victor Von Doom to the screen — he is one of the more complex characters in all of comics … this is potentially one of the more entertaining characters in all of fiction.
“If we’re going to do this … then we are going to need the greatest actor in the world.
“As proof of the unimaginable possibilities of the Marvel Universe, we give you the one person who could play Victor von Doom…”
Downey, in a brighter green outfit, then stepped forward and removed his headgear to screams from the crowd.
He quipped: “New mask, same task.
“What did I tell ya? I like playing complicated characters.”
Meanwhile, the Russo brothers admitted they were excited to come back for ‘Secret Wars’, which they previously described as their dream project.
After a montage of highlights from their previous work with Marvel showed on screen, Anthony said: “That four-movie run was incredible.
“And it left us really spent, with all of our emotions on the floor. In the time since, through a very special story, Joe and I have come to potentially see a road forward with you all.”
Joe added: “It’s the biggest story that Marvel Comics ever told, it’s the first comic book run that I read as a kid that made me fall in love with comics. It’s the reason why Ant and I are standing up here. And I think you all the know the name of it.”
The ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ title then flashed on the big screen.
The movies will be written by Stephen McFeely and mark a change for the fifth film in the franchise.
Two years ago, the next installment was announced as ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ and would have starred Jonathan Majors as time-travelling villain Kang, but after the actor was found guilty of harassment and assault in December, the studio cut ties with him, requiring an overhaul of the movie.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is due out in May 2026, and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ will follow a year later.

‘There’s so much in the world’: Eli Roth hopes Borderlands launches a movie franchise

OHMYGOSSIP — Eli Roth is hopeful that ‘Borderlands’ could be the start of a film franchise.
The 52-year-old director has helmed the new movie based on the hit video game of the same name and is convinced that there is scope for more stories to be told should the project be successful when it hits cinemas next month.
Speaking to SFX magazine, Eli said: “With multiple ‘Borderlands’ games, there’s so much in the world – it was very difficult to narrow it down just for this story. It took seven years to come up with a draft that everyone was happy with.
“So my feeling is, any time you start talking about the universe, you can get into trouble because you’re not focusing on the movie you’re making.
“But I do believe that there’s so much there that, if the fans like it, and it sells, we would love to continue. They absolutely would continue.”
The decision to cast Cate Blanchett and Kevin Hart as bounty hunters Lilith and Roland respectively has been met with some disgruntlement by gamers and Roth is aware that his project won’t impress everybody.
The ‘Death Wish’ director said: “My obligation is to the movie and to make the best movie possible.
“The trouble is, you’re never going to recreate the experience of the game unless you’re playing the game. My job is to adapt the story into the best movie story.
“Trust me, I’m well aware that people get p***** off. All you can do to satisfy them is definitely have those Easter eggs and those things from the game that are for those fans.”
Roth continued: “We’re making a movie for mainstream audiences. If you’re a ‘Borderlands’ player, you’re going to have fun with the movie, and you’re going to go, ‘They did a great job.’
“If you’ve never played the game before, and you see the movie, you’re going to say, ‘That was so much fun. I want to play the game.’
“The idea is to make a movie that appeals to everybody, but the only way you can do that is by making a great movie.”

Laila Rouass lands EastEnders role

OHMYGOSSIP — Laila Rouass is to make a guest appearance in ‘EastEnders’.
The former ‘Holby City’ actress will star as Ayesha, who arrives in Albert Square following an invitation from evil Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) and it will quickly emerge she knew the villain and his wife Suki (Balvinder Sopal) a long time ago, but they haven’t been in touch for many years.
Laila, 53, hailed her role as a “dream come true” and admitted she is particularly excited to work with her old friend Navin.
