Trinny Woodall struggled to grieve when her ex-husband Johnny Ellichoff took his own life

OHMYGOSSIP — Trinny Woodall “didn’t grieve for many, many years” when her former husband took his own life.
The 60-year-old star was married to Johnny Ellichoff – with whom she has 20-year-old daughter Lyla – from 1999 until 2009 but he died in 2014 and she had to utilise her “inner strength” for the sake of all of those around her.
Speaking on the ‘Great Company Podcast’, she told host Jamie Laing: “Death is terrible and final but [taking your own life] is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. It’s like that tsunami that comes and it kind of pulls the guts out of you.
“But, also, I have got inner strength. I needed to be the one who would look after everyone.
“When you are faced with the worst thing you think could happen, there was this feeling I had ‘Nothing worse can happen now’ so I should just take the greatest risk.
“Emotionally, I couldn’t have lost more than to lose my daughter’s father for her, so it makes you stronger.
“He left a bit of a mess so I didn’t grieve for many, many years, because I was dealing with this fallout, I was a bit angry as well. It was only quite a few years later that I missed him.”
The former ‘What Not To Wear’ host also outlined her desire to throw a dinner to mark a decade without Johnny – who also had Zak, 30, from a previous relationship – and how Lyla would refuse to come to other celebrations to honour Johnny’s life in times gone by.
Trinny said: “I want to do a dinner this year. There was a few years she didn’t want to go to those dinners. Her brother did.”

Corrie legend Samia Longchambon reveals how TikTok has earned her ‘street cred’ with her daughter

OHMYGOSSIP — Samia Longchambon has earned some “street cred” with her daughter because of TikTok.
The 42-year-old actress – who has Freya, 15, from her first marriage to Matthew Smith and Yves, eight, with ‘Dancing on Ice’ pro Sylvain Longchambon – has played hairdresser Maria Connor on ‘Coronation Street’ for nearly 25 years but it is only now that her character’s son Liam Connor Jr. (Charlie Wrenshall) has gone viral on TikTok amid a bullying storyline that she has become “cool-ish” to her children.
She told Inside Soap: “It’s given me some street cred with my daughter Freya for the first time ever! She’s 15 now and her friends are coming up to her in school wanting to talk about it. It went viral on TikTok because Charlie’s quite cool with the teenagers, and now Freya thinks I’m cool-ish! My son [Yves] will be nine in September, so he’s totally aware of the show too.”
The character of Maria has been through a number of storylines throughout the years and reflected that she is now “happy” with where her alter-ego has ended up even though it is not really where she initially assumed she would go.
She said: “When I joined the show, she was a kennel maid, and the description for my audition was ‘a female version of Tyrone!’ So, she’s definitely not turned out the way that I thought! Alan [Halsall] and I used to have matching outfits, and she would definitely not be matching her outfit to Tyrone’s now! I’m happy with how Maria’s turned out with the unit she has with Gary (Mikey North) and Liam – it’s nice to have a solid Corrie family.

The Chase star Jenny Ryan warns others to be ‘on their guard’ as she becomes the victim of a robbery

OHMYGOSSIP — Jenny Ryan lost “irreplaceable jewellery” when she became the victim of a robbery.
The 42-year-old quizzer – who is best known as one of the regulars on the ITV1 game show ‘The Chase’ – received a visit from a man posing as a plumber earlier this year and after finding that he had stolen her phone and other items of high sentimental value, has warned others to be “on their guard” to avoid such a situation.
Speaking on Wednesday’s (31.07.24) edition of ‘Good Morning Britain’ on ITV1, she explained: “Unfortunately, a couple of months ago, I got a knock on my door and it was a workman who said there was a leak in the flat upstairs and he needed come in and take some photos. He didn’t just take photos, he took my phone and jewellery which is irreplaceable.
“It was made for me as a gift from my mum and stepdad.
“It was just a moment of losing concentration and probably being too polite, not wanting to say ‘No, let me see your ID, wait there…’ I just wanted it to be over but by that time he was in my house, had shut himself in my bedroom and was rifling through my stuff.
“I just think people should be on their guard of anything that seems out of the ordinary.
“If your hackles are up, then don’t be afraid to be impolite, just say no and it probably wont happen to you – hopefully.”
Meanwhile, away from quizzing on the teatime favourite, Jenny has launched a second career as a singer having already competed on ‘The X Factor: Celebrity’ in 2019 and played Dorothy in a version of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ with her co-stars for Comic Relief before that.
Now the TV star, is heading out on her ‘Out Of the Box’ tour across theatres in the UK but thinks it will be “a bit of a challenge” to get fans to change their perceptions of her as the tough Vixen character from the game show.
She said: “We took the show to Edinburgh Fringe last year really on sort of a whim.
“It’s a big risk to take something like this, as presenters know, after a stern role and you try something new. It’s a bit of a challenge for people to change their expectations and perceptions of you.”

Hunter Schafer doesn’t like being called a ‘scream queen’

OHMYGOSSIP — Hunter Schafer isn’t comfortable with the ‘scream queen’ tag.
The 25-year-old star makes her horror movie debut in ‘Cuckoo’ but thinks that the label should be reserved for those who have plenty of experience in the genre.
In an interview with IndieWire, Hunter said: “Honestly, I mean, just from like a terminology perspective, I feel like a scream queen title is for people who have done multiple horror movies and this is my first horror movie.
“I don’t know if I feel very deserving of it yet. It’s very sweet, the intention, and obviously, it’s a fun word to say, but I would not call myself that cool.”
‘Cuckoo’ will be released next month after premiering at the Berlin International Film Festival back in February and Hunter hasn’t been studying the reviews of the picture in the intervening period.
The ‘Euphoria’ star said: “Honestly, it’s kind of nice that I’ve had this much distance from it now. I don’t know, I only do projects that I really believe in.
“You have to be careful sometimes reading critiques and reviews and whatever. I don’t really care what anybody thinks at the end of the day, too, because I had such an amazing time making this movie, and I love the movie. That’s my experience with it, and it doesn’t matter.
“Of course, I hope it does well at everything and that people do find meaning and do have a good time watching it, but at the end of the day, I got what I wanted out of it.”
Hunter plays budding musician Gretchen in the picture and was able to acquire some new skills during the production.
She joked: “That was no improv. I learned bass guitar for this role. Simon Waskow wrote the music and the song for the movie, and I got lots of time to rehearse it, practice it, and whatever.”

Tim Blake Nelson lauds the Marvel Cinematic Universe for saving cinema

OHMYGOSSIP — Tim Blake Nelson has hailed the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for “keeping cinema alive”.
The 60-year-old actor will make his return as Samuel Sterns/Leader in the upcoming movie ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ and hit back at critics such as Martin Scorsese – who branded the superhero blockbusters as “theme parks” and “not cinema”.
Speaking to TheWrap at San Diego Comic-Con, Tim said: “Marvel has become this phenomenon that’s unprecedented in the history of cinema.
“These scores of movies with characters moving in and out of one another’s storylines, coming together, going back apart, fighting against one another in a single universe; it’s never happened before in movies.
“When people attack these movies as, ‘Well, it’s not real cinema’ or, ‘It’s the death of cinema’, I actually think it’s keeping cinema alive, and I really mean that.”
The forthcoming flick marks Tim’s first MCU appearance since he featured in 2008’s ‘The Incredible Hulk’ and he confessed that he had “given up” on making a return to superhero tentpole.
The ‘Minority Report’ star said: “I have to say that I had given up on coming back as well, and not without a tremendous amount of despair.
“But I’m glad it took this long because the character I (play) actually, I think demands my own life experiences over the past 18 years. Because there’s a real depth and rage and pathos to this guy, and I needed 18 more years of life experience to try and pull that off.”
Tim added that he reprised the part on the basis that his alter ego would transform into the villainous Leader.
He told Entertainment Weekly: “I had only one request, which was that we realise the character practically and they were willing to do that.
“Of course, if they’d said no, I still would have done it. But I wanted to really have the look and the weight of the character and look in the mirror and see the deformation of the character and have the other actors experience that.”

Huw Edwards would have been fired, says BBC

OHMYGOSSIP — Huw Edwards would have been fired by the BBC if he was charged with making indecent images of children while employed by the broadcaster.
The 62-year-old newsreader pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children during an appearance at Westminster Magistrates Court in London, and the BBC has now confirmed that it would have acted “immediately to dismiss him” if Edwards was charged over his “abhorrent behaviour”.
A BBC spokesperson said: “The BBC is shocked to hear the details which have emerged in court today. There can be no place for such abhorrent behaviour and our thoughts are with all those affected.
“The police have confirmed that the charges are not connected to the original complaint raised with the BBC in the summer of 2023, nevertheless in the interests of transparency we think it important to set out some points about events of the last year.”
The BBC confirmed that it was aware of Edwards’ arrest in November 2023. However, the broadcaster noted that Edwards – who admitted to committing the three offences between December 2020 and August 2021 – “was no longer an employee of the BBC” by the time he was charged.
The spokesperson explained: “In November 2023, whilst Mr Edwards was suspended, the BBC as his employer at the time was made aware in confidence that he had been arrested on suspicion of serious offences and released on bail whilst the police continued their investigation.
“At the time, no charges had been brought against Mr Edwards and the BBC had also been made aware of significant risk to his health.
“Today we have learnt of the conclusion of the police process in the details as presented to the court. If at any point during the period Mr Edwards was employed by the BBC he had been charged, the BBC had determined it would act immediately to dismiss him.
“In the end, at the point of charge he was no longer an employee of the BBC.
“During this period, in the usual way, the BBC has kept its corporate management of these issues separate from its independent editorial functions.
“We want to reiterate our shock at Mr Edwards’ actions and our thoughts remain with all those affected.”

Matt Damon wants ‘Rounders’ sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Damon wants to make a ‘Rounders’ sequel.
The 53-year-old actor starred in the 1998 cult classic with Edward Norton as two friends who need to win at high-stakes poker in order to quickly pay off a large debt, and he revealed both he and his co-star are keen to make a follow-up film to explore how the world surrounding the game has changed in recent years.
Speaking on ‘The Rich Eisen Show’ about the projects he wants to make via his and Ben Affleck’s production company Actors Equity, he said: “The one we’ve been talking about for years, and we’re trying to, and I just saw Edward Norton a few weeks ago, like all of us want to do it is a second ‘Rounders’ movie.
“So much has happened in the poker world in the last 25 years, it would be fun to catch up with those guys.”
Matt revealed the film’s original writers, David Levien and Brian Koppelman, had an idea for a sequel in the pipeline a decade ago, but it would need updating now.
He added: “They had a whole movie ready to go then, but now there’s been a whole another change in the poker world since then, so I haven’t talked to them about what it would be, but I know… what they had 10 years ago was fantastic, and I’m sure they could augment and roll with the times and update it to where we are today and make something great.”
However, the ‘Instigators’ actor admitted there are rights issues at play that could prevent the film from happening.
He said: “You’ve got to figure out the chain of title and who owns it, and everybody’s got their hand in the pot.
“So we’ve got to figure out a way to make a deal that makes sense for everybody, particularly the people who are going to make the movie because at Artists Equity, that’s who we care about, are the cast and crew. We’re trying to figure that out because I think we’d all like to do that.”
While ‘Rounders’ didn’t perform well at the box office on release, Matt thinks there’s an appetite for a sequel.
He said: “That’s one of those movies that, it came out and didn’t do well.
“When it came out, it kind of bombed, and then it got discovered by people later. When that happens, people feel a sense of ownership, like, ‘Hey, that’s my movie. I was a champion of that movie even when no one else was.’
“So it feels like there’s a lot of good will behind it. But we gotta figure out if we can make it happen.”

Pete Wicks set for Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Pete Wicks has signed up for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The former ‘Only Way is Essex’ star – who has also appeared on the likes of ‘Celebs Go Dating’, ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’ and ‘The Real Full Monty’ – is said to be excited after agreeing to take part in this year’s competition, despite his lack of experience on the dancefloor.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Pete has joined the ‘Strictly’ line up and is excited to get started.
“He isn’t much of a dancer but that’s what the BBC loved about him. They wanted the show to feel more like it did in the beginning.
“Pete is also going to attract younger viewers who have followed his career since ‘TOWIE’.”
The news comes just a day after it was revealed Nick Knowles is also set to take part in the show.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Nick has always loved ‘Strictly’ and he is so excited.
“He’s got a great personality, is incredibly driven and competitive and is up for giving anything a crack. He’s going on the show to entertain and to win. He’ll give it his best shot.”‘EastEnders’ actor Jamie Borthwick, 30 – who has played Jay Brown on the soap for the past 18 years – has also reportedly signed up for the show after wowing ‘Strictly’ bosses during last year’s Christmas special.
A source previously said: “Although an ‘EastEnders’ actor is on ‘Strictly’ every year, this is the first time a performer on the festive special has gone directly into the competition.
“Producers and viewers were blown away by Jamie’s dancing.
“It’s not clear yet whether he will take a break from the soap or if he’ll juggle dance rehearsals with doing scenes for the soap.”
And Jamie isn’t the only star who’s Christmas appearance has led to an offer for the full series, as Danny Cipriani is also said to be in negotiations.
A source previously said: “Danny proved he had the moves in the one-off special and ‘Strictly’ would love to have him back.
“It was an experience he enjoyed and Danny’s family and friends have been pushing him to say yes.
“Danny’s got ‘Bear Hunt’ on Netflix out next year so he’s free and able to take part. He’s coming back to the UK for a face-to-face meeting.”

Zara McDermott ‘danced with a broken bone during Strictly’

OHMYGOSSIP — Zara McDermott reportedly broke a bone in her leg during rehearsals for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The former ‘Love Island’ star joined the BBC talent show last year and recently hit headlines after her dancer partner Graziano Di Prima was accused of mistreating her during training – and now it has emerged Zara was reportedly battling a painful injury and didn’t seek hospital treatment until after she was eliminated.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Zara had started getting injured in the build-up to the Halloween dance then something went on the morning, meaning she danced with a fractured leg all that week …
“She started developing a really bad, niggly pain in her left leg at training. The pain got worse and by the last few weeks, she was in agony, popping painkillers before, during and after sessions.
“She made Graziano aware of her discomfort but he was pretty adamant they needed to crack on.”
The publication reports Zara was diagnosed with severe ligament damage plus a stress fracture on her left tibia, but she didn’t reveal the injury to BBC bosses at the time.
She’s believed to have opened up about her fractured leg during discussions as part of the BBC’s inquiry into ‘Strictly’ following allegations made by a number of contestants, including Amanda Abbington, about their treatment on the show.
The insider added to The Sun: “[Zara] wasn’t seen to by medics on site, and production weren’t aware of the extent of her injury.
“By the time of her last dance, she was in a lot of pain and limping through the moves. It was only after she left the show, and the pain became agonising, that she was referred to hospital and a hairline stress fracture was discovered in her tibia alongside ligament damage.
“Zara didn’t want to make a fuss, so didn’t alert anyone at the BBC until two weeks ago.”
Graziano was recently axed from the show and shared his “regrets” in a candid post on Instagram, writing: “I deeply regret the events that led to my departure from ‘Strictly’.
“My intense passion and determination to win might have affected my training regime. Respecting the BBC HR process, I understand it’s best for the show that I step away.
“While there are aspects of this story involving external influences that I can’t discuss at this time, I remain committed to being strong for my family and friends.
“I wish the Strictly family and the BBC nothing but success in the future. I also want to thank everyone who has supported my career, both professionally and personally. When the time is right, I will share my story.”
Zara also posted about her experience on the show, writing: “When I was invited to be a contestant on the show it really was a childhood dream come true.
“I fully understood the level of commitment and hard work that ‘Strictly’ was going to be and I dedicated everything to it.
“I am a resilient person and I was fully prepared to put in whatever it took. And so much of my ‘Strictly’ experience was everything I could have dreamt of … “However, my experience inside the training room was very different.Reports have been made about my treatment on the show and there were witnesses to some events, as well as videos of particular incidents which are incredibly distressing to watch.
“I have wrestled with the fear of opening up – I was scared about public backlash, I was scared about my future, I was scared of victim shaming. But after a lot of conversations with those I love, I’ve gained the strength to face these fears, and when I was asked to speak to the BBC, I spoke candidly about my time on the show.
“The culture within our society makes it difficult for people to speak up, especially in a world where social media opinions and voices are so loud. “This is something I’ve seen through working with countless women on my documentaries.”

Josh Hartnett shares Matt Damon’s golden rule for movie roles

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Damon shared his golden rule for movie roles with Josh Hartnett while they were working on ‘Oppenheimer’ together.
Hartnett, 46, joined the cast of Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-winning film playing nuclear physicist Ernest Lawrence with Damon, 53, portraying General Leslie Groves, director of the Manhattan Project , and Hartnett has revealed his co-star gave him some “unhelpful” advice by advising him never to gain weight for roles after the age of 40.
During an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, Hartnett explained: “He gave me a lot of good advice. One in particular – one thing that was just so unhelpful: He told me not to gain the weight I’d already gained for the role.
“I gained about 30 pounds for the role, and he was like, ‘You’re never gonna get that off again, man’.”
The actor added that Damon told him: “Don’t gain weight over 40”.
Hartnett went on: “He’s like, ‘You’re gonna spend the rest of your life trying to get that weight off and it’s never gonna come off because your body’s gonna want to get that weight back on.
“You’re just gonna keep growing back out to that size, and you’re going to try and get it off, but it’s just gonna go back. And he kept telling me, like, over the course of the production.
“I was like, ‘Thanks, Matt. Thanks for telling me this now. I’ve already gained it’.” He then joked: “And now I don’t eat anymore”.
Damon has previously opened up about how changing his weight for roles made him sick. He shed pounds to play a troubled war veteran in 1996 movie ‘Courage Under Fire’ and the diet left him struggling.
During an appearance on ‘The One Show’, he explained: “I went too far. I got sick and I wouldn’t do that again because it was just too much. At the same time, it helped the performance. I didn’t have to act at all; I was a wreck.
“I was getting dizzy spells and hot flashes. I didn’t say anything to anyone for a while because I was afraid I might be really ill.”

Chris Hemsworth’s kids told him to accept Transformers One role

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Hemsworth’s children made him accept his role in ‘Transformers One’.
The 40-year-old actor voices Orion Pax aka Optimus Prime in the upcoming animated origin story, and when he was first offered the job, the ‘Thor’ star turned to his and Elsa Pataky’s three kids, India, 12, and 10-year-old twins Sasha and Tristan, who he described as his “consultants”.
Admitting they “played a big part” in his accepting the role, he recalled to People magazine: “I had gone to my kids and said, ‘What do you think?’ And they said, ‘You have to do it.’ ”
The trio all joined their dad in the voiceover booth and he enjoyed having them encourage him in his work.
He said: “They were in the background as I was recording a lot of these lines. They were kind of yelling suggestions or trying to distract me. It was cool.”
Meanwhile, a crossover project between the ‘Transformers’ and ‘G.I. Joe’ universe is in the early stages of development and while “nothing official” has been decided, Chris confirmed he’d be interested in being part of the proposed animated adventure.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “Look, I love the entire world and what that universe has to offer and the sort of potential to where you can take it creatively and the different characters you can explore.
“There were sort of conversations and there were a few ideas presented and we’re, you know, in discussions about it.
“So we’ll see what happens. But it all comes down to who the filmmaker is and if there’s a great script.
“[Producer] Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who has been sort of at the helm of these films for so many years, is a dear friend of mine and I’ve spoken a lot to him about it. So yeah, it’d be great if something comes together.”

Christine and Paddy have now amicably settled their divorce, with a source telling The Sun: “They managed to settle the divorce out of court and have kept everything amicable.
“They have separate bedrooms and a house in Cheshire big enough for them all, so there is no need to move yet.

‘Mr Bates Vs The Post Office’ up for another TV award

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Mr Bates Vs The Post Office’ is up for another TV award.
The hit ITV1 drama starred Toby Young, 60, as Alan Bates – one of five sub-postmasters who led a campaign to expose the miscarriage of justice resulting from computer glitches that led the Post Office to wrongly accuse staff of theft, false accounting and fraud.
It has already won trophies at the Broadcasting Press Guild, RTS and TRIC awards and has now been nominated for a Sky Arts gong.
The show will be up against two other programmes in the TV category of the channel’s awards – BBC One’s ‘The Sixth Commandment’ and BBC Two documentary ‘Once Upon a Time in Northern Ireland’, with the winner to be announced on 17 September when the awards will air on Sky Arts and Freeview.
More than 900 Post Office managers were convicted between 1999 and 2015 after faulty accounting software Horizon falsely made it seem as if money was missing.
Actor Toby told PBS about why he took the part of Alan Bates: “In amongst all of the news that we hear daily, it felt like this particular scandal had been hiding in plain sight.
“I was aware that on occasion, I would hear ‘postmasters’ mentioned and truly, there is no other explanation for it, to my shame – I hadn’t understood the full severity of the story.
“I can only assume that it’s partly because when you hear ‘Post Office’, you take for granted what this institution does.
“There is a scene in this particular drama where there is effectively a bank robbery. I remember reading that particular scene and thinking ‘Of course!’.
“In these communities, there’s a lot of money in these deliberately inconspicuous buildings that have been there for my whole life, run by people who are often deliberately inconspicuous as well.
“They don’t draw attention to themselves and as a result, they are truly, completely trustworthy people.
“It is shocking, just how appalling this scandal is. When people watch the drama, if we have done our job, it will make them see a senselessness and vindictiveness to this scandal that makes you wonder how on earth it isn’t being spoken about more.”

Clare Balding proposed to by soldier boyfriend before she met wife

OHMYGOSSIP — Clare Balding was proposed to by a soldier boyfriend before she met her wife.
The 63-year-old BBC sports presenter, who is fronting coverage of the Paris Olympics, married her partner of 21 years – former Radio 4 broadcaster Alice Arnold, 62, in 2015 after they entered into a civil partnership in 2006.
Clare told the Daily Mirror about how she had “one very serious” boyfriend who was in the Army for “two or three years” before meeting Alice, who asked her to marry him before he went on a tour of duty.
She added: “I thought, ‘He’s only asking me because he thinks he’s in danger’.
“I meant to say yes at this point. And I knew I didn’t want to.
“And I said, ‘Look, that’s a lovely thing to say but ask me again when you come back’.
“When he came back, he didn’t ask me again, and I thought, ‘Thank God’.
“When I first fell in love with a woman, it was completely different.”
Clare has become a loud supporter of LGBT+ rights, but said it was not easy coming out to her family.
She said: “I think my mother was very concerned it would affect my work. I’d been to the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
“But until you own it, it’s not legitimate. That is why I say to people, ‘Don’t hide the thing that makes you happiest. Don’t hide your love’.
“Why would you do that? But luckily, the world has changed a lot.”
Clare and Alice appear together looking cosy on their sofa in their west London home on Channel 4’s ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’, and the host says their marriage works as they are like a sports team.
She added: “What are we like? Well, I would use a sporty term, I would say being a team. Trying to achieve the same goal.
“But I think we are amazingly open and honest with each other. And I do think that is easier sometimes when you’re two women or indeed two men. Not all the time… men and women do think differently.
“And I think sometimes that is challenging in relationships. I’m not saying that straight relationships never work. Of course they do. But there are challenges that are not challenges for us. It’s interesting.”

Lady Gaga reveals inspiration for changing her singing voice in Joker: Folie A Deux

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga changed her singing voice for ‘Joker: Folie A Deux’ because she wanted her character’s performance to be distinctive from her own records and concerts.
The 38-year-old singer-actress portrays Lee, a version of Harley Quinn, in the DC Comics movie, starring opposite Joaquin Phoenix, who reprises his role as mentally ill Arthur Fleck aka The Joker.
Gaga’s Quinn, sees the character working as a music therapist in Arkham Asylum who meets Arthur and becomes fascinated with him and ultimately obsessed with the incarcerated criminal.
The pop star purposefully altered her performance in the film to ensure audiences could clearly understand she was “playing a character”.
In an interview with Empire magazine, she said: “People know me by my stage name, Lady Gaga, right? That’s me as that performer, but that is not what this movie is; I’m playing a character. So I worked a lot on the way that I sang to come from Lee and to not come from me as a performer.”
The ‘Poker Face’ hitmaker added she included “plenty of bum notes” in order to guarantee audiences wouldn’t just see Lady Gaga when they watched Lee in the movie.
She explained: “For me, there’s plenty of bum notes, actually, from Lee. I’m a trained singer, right? So even my breathing was different when I sang as Lee.
“When I breathe to sing onstage, I have this very controlled way to make sure that I’m on pitch, and it’s sustained at the right rhythm and amount of time, but Lee would never know how to do any of that.
“So it’s like removing the technicality of the whole thing, removing my perceived art form from it all and completely being inside of who she is.”
It isn’t just her singing voice that is different, as director Todd Phillips revealed Gaga made the role her own by altering aspects of the villain’s comic book characterisations, and compared her version of Harley Quinn to a Manson Family member.
Cult leader Charles Manson – who died in November 2017 aged 83 – radicalised his Manson Family members, many of whom were middle class American girls involved in the hippie movement, and instructed them to commit a series of murders and crimes in the late 1960s and ’70s, including taking the life of actress Sharon Tate.
Phillips, 53, said: “While there are some things that people would find familiar in her, it’s really Gaga’s own interpretation, and Scott [Silver, co-writer] and I’s interpretation.
“She became the way how Manson had girls that idolised him. The way that sometimes these [imprisoned murderers] have people that look up to them.
“There are things about Harley in the movie that were taken from the comic books, but we took it and moulded it to the way we wanted it to be.”

‘They hated it…’ Ryan Reynolds changed Deadpool and Wolverine’s title after online backlash

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Reynolds changed the title of ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ because Internet leakers “hated” the blockbuster’s original name.
The highly-anticipated Marvel movie sees the 47-year-old actor and Hugh Jackman, 55, reprise their respective superhero roles as the unlikely duo embark on a multiverse adventure, though Reynolds has now revealed he chose to change the movie’s in February once online sleuths went ballistic after learning the film was called ‘Deadpool and Friend’.
During an appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ – on which the movie stars filled in as guest co-hosts – Reynolds explained: “I’ve never told this story anywhere, but the movie was originally called ‘Deadpool and Friend’. I am actually not joking.
“On the eve of the Super Bowl, the Super Bowl is where we first launched the trailer for Deadpool — not Friend, but Wolverine — it leaked because of the internet.
“The title leaked. We looked at it and listened, and they hated that title. We were not feeling so good about that anymore.”
Although he was adamant to amend the flick’s name, Reynolds admitted it took a while to convince Marvel Studios to agree to the change.
He said: “We were like, ‘No, we’re changing the title, I will never call this movie ‘Deadpool and Friend’. And they did it, they did it. They really changed the title.”
Even before the film’s name leaked, Reynolds was determined to ensure more sensitive details about the movie didn’t make its way online before hitting cinemas, and so planned to film a fake “intentionally bad” flick known as ‘Alpha Cop’ to throw leakers off the scent.
He explained to Jackman during a stint on ‘Hot Ones’: “The original idea with this movie to shoot a fake movie called ‘Alpha Cop’ that was intentionally bad.
“I even had one of the posters made — it was about two guys who are sharing one brain and together they make the ultimate cop. And the poster says, ‘Alpha Cop: Two Cops, One Brain. All Balls.’
“It was meant to be kind of like horrible, so 10 people in America would go see this movie on opening weekend and five minutes into the movie, the Marvel logo would flip up and it would actually be ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’.”
