Romesh Ranganathan to front new series The Misinvestigations of Romesh Ranganathan

OHMYGOSSIP — Romesh Ranganathan is to front new series ‘The Misinvestigations of Romesh Ranganathan’.
The former ‘A League of Their Own’ star will follow up on his hit, ‘The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan’, with a new BBC Two show that will examine the lives and deaths of some of the most important pop culture figures, such as Tupac Shakur, Sid Vicious and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen, and music legend Jimi Hendrix.
The 46-year-old comedian said: “We wanted a spin-off for ‘Misadventures’, and after we discussed Misinterpretations, Miscalculations and Misunderstandings, we finally settled on Misinvestigations.
“It’s been really interesting to look into these high-profile deaths and I am very excited for people to see the show. Unless of course people don’t like it, in which case I will release a statement explaining how I never really believed in the project.”
Romesh will be joined by criminal psychologist, writer and podcaster Dr Julia Shaw on the three-part series, which will air next month as he interviews other experts across disciplines.
This news comes after the star recently revealed his celebrity status had prompted his hometown Crawley to name a rubbish bin after him.
He recently told the ‘Perfect Day with Jessica Knappett’ podcast: “They emailed me saying, ‘Here are the names we’ve settled on but we don’t want you to be annoyed so can you tell us which you prefer?’
“I don’t know what your rights are when a bin van is named after you.”
The ‘Weakest Link’ host – who has three sons, Theo, Alex and Charlie, with his wife Leesa – quipped they might dispose of it if his star was ever in “decline”.
He continued: “Obviously I’m going to decline in popularity and work rate and I wonder if I’m going to get another email going, ‘Romesh it’s time . . . just to let you know we’re retiring Romesh Recyclenathan’.”

‘I’m very happy!’ Lisa Riley pens ‘long’ Emmerdale deal

OHMYGOSSIP — Lisa Riley has signed a new “long” ‘Emmerdale’ deal.
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star – who has played Mandy Dingle on and off for nearly three decades – isn’t planning to say goodbye to the fictional Yorkshire village, as her character prepares to walk down the aisle and marry Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) for a second time, over a quarter of a century after they first said “I do”.
The 48-year-old actress told Woman’s Weekly magazine: “I’ve just signed a new long contract and I’m very happy. Paddy and Mandy bring such joy to the show – you can rely on the fact that they’re going to bring you that sprinkle of fun and I love that.
“It’s 25 years since they married the first time and I’d like to think that I’ll still be in the show in another 25 years – I absolutely love it.”
Lisa – who got engaged to her boyfriend AI of ten years in 2018 – admitted art probably won’t imitate life in terms of the real-life couple tying the knot.
The star doesn’t want to waste lots of money on “one day”, and she wouldn’t “be able to cope” having a wedding without her late mother Cath, who passed away in 2012 following a battle with breast cancer.
She said: “Al and I got engaged and I wear my engagement ring every day. We made that vow to each other that we’re together forever and that’s enough.
“If we had £20,000, we wouldn’t spend it on a wedding. It’s one day.
“It doesn’t make a difference. If we had that sort of money, we could go and see the world together and be even more in love than ever before?
“Mentally, I wouldn’t be able to cope with the fact that my mum wouldn’t be sitting there on my special day. She was my rock, my stability, my everything – I wouldn’t be in ‘Emmerdale’ if it wasn’t for her support.”

Shayne Ward and Sarah Hadland sign up for Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Shayne Ward and Sarah Hadland are the latest stars to sign up for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actor – who shot to fame when he won the second series of ‘The X Factor’ in 2005 – and the ‘Miranda’ actress were revealed on ‘Lorraine’ to be the eighth and ninth contestants confirmed for the upcoming series.
Shayne said: “I’m buzzing to see all of the sparkles and magic that is ‘Strictly’ in real life.
“I’m no stranger to live TV, but dancing Latin and Ballroom in front of millions is a whole new level.
“No promises on my dancing ability, but I will give it my best shot!”
Shayne admitted he will draw on his ‘X Factor’ experiences to “block” the live audience out on the programme.
He said on ‘Lorraine’: “I’m used to being in front of a live audience. People remember me from 2005 ‘X Factor’, so I know what it takes to be in front of a live audience and also try to block them out and imagine they’re not there.
“It’ll just be me and whoever I’m partnered up with, which I’m super excited about.”
Sarah revealed she was yet to tell her mum about signing up for the programme, and she can’t wait to be a part of the show’s 20th anniversary celebrations.
She said: “I cannot believe I am part of ‘Strictly’!
“I feel particularly excited to be part of such an iconic show in its 20th year.
“I’m so ready for the glitz, glam and glitter and hopefully I can make everyone watching at home proud!”
Other stars confirmed for the show include ‘TOWIE’ star Pete Wicks, former ‘Love Island’ star Tasha Ghouri, JLS singer J.B. Gill, and singers Wynne Evans and Toyah Willcox.
Comedian Chris McCausland, and Morning Live’s Dr Punam Krishan will also take part in the programme this year.

Scott Mills: Celebrity Race Across the World will be marriage test

OHMYGOSSIP — Scott Mills has admitted ‘Celebrity Race Across The World’ will be a “test” for his marriage.
The Radio 2 broadcaster and his now-husband Sam Vaughan filmed the show before they got married last month, and the 51-year-old DJ admitted the star-studded version of the BBC show will be like a “holiday test”, but “times a thousand”.
He said: “Before we get married, everyone says the holiday test is you know you could be with somebody if you go on holiday with them.
“This is like that times a thousand. Not that I have any doubts that Sam is the one for me, but there will be times in this, I imagine, when it will get stressful. And I think I’m expecting it, I don’t know, but I’m expecting it to be big highs and probably big lows.
“So, if we can get through this, we can get through anything basically.
“I have no doubt that we will but that’s part of the reason why I wanted to do it. I also really just want to throw my phone away for a bit.
“I wouldn’t be able to get to do this again.”
Sam is excited about joining Scott on the epic trip, after the radio star has taken on several charity challenges over the years, as well as making the move from Radio 1 to Radio 2.
He added: “In the time we’ve been together, obviously, he’s done a 24-hour treadmill challenge for Children in Need, that he didn’t think he’d be able to do.
“A big change was going from Radio 1 to Radio 2, that was a massive change.
“And then the panto. So for me, I see Scott putting himself out there, challenging himself.
“So, it’s nice to be able to do that with him. And also, you know, together we can do that and I can be part of that journey. I’m always there at the end congratulating him.”
Scott and Sam will go up against broadcaster Jeff Brazier and his son Freddie, model Kelly Brook and her husband Jeremy Parisi, and actor Kola Bokinni – who is best known for playing Richmond AFC captain Isaac McAdoo in ‘Ted Lasso’ – and his cousin Mary Ellen in the show.
The pairings will embark on a globetrotting race across South America, as they attempt to be the fastest to travel from Brazil to Chile, on a limited budget and without stepping on a plane.

Brad Pitt and George Clooney’s Wolfs to get a sequel ahead of release

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Wolfs’ has been confirmed for a sequel – before it has even been released.
The Apple Original Films action-comedy – which stars George Clooney, 63, and Brad Pitt, 60 – is due to premiere at the 81st Venice Film Festival later this month, and it has now been confirmed the project’s 43-year-old creator Jon Watts has signed a deal with the studio to write, direct and produce a follow-up flick.
The company also revealed the picture will get a limited theatrical run in the US on 20 September, before debuting globally on Apple TV+ a week later.
In a statement, Apple Original Films head of features Matt Dentler said: “‘Wolfs’ is the kind of big event movie that makes Apple TV+ such an exceptional home for the best in entertainment.
“With George and Brad’s remarkable and engaging chemistry under Jon Watts’ extraordinary direction, ‘Wolfs’ blends all the great elements of comedy, action, and drama into a hugely entertaining movie that will leave audiences ready for what’s next.
“Releasing the movie to theaters before making it widely available to Apple TV+ customers brings the best of both worlds to audiences, and we’re excited to see fans embrace the movie as we start working with Jon on the sequel.”
While Watts is returning for the next entry in the series, it has not been confirmed whether the two actors will be reprising their roles for the follow-up film.
In the movie, a professional fixer (Clooney) is hired to cover up a high-profile crime, before a second cleaner (Pitt) arrives at the scene, forcing the two lone wolves to work together.
As the night progresses, chaos ensues for the fixers in a way neither expected.
The pictures also stars Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, Poorna Jagannathan, Richard Kind and Zlatko Buric, and is produced in partnership with Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment and Clooney’s Smokehouse Pictures.

Hugh Jackman ‘got very choked up’ over career-defining Deadpool and Wolverine line

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Jackman became overcome with emotion after reading one of his lines in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’.
The 55-year-old actor has played the mutant superhero on-and-off for 24 years, though he didn’t get the chance to wear Wolverine’s iconic yellow and blue suit until his recent outing in Marvel’s blockbuster.
Now, director Shawn Levy, 56, has revealed the actor “got very choked up” with emotion after reading a career-defining line he said to the villain Cassandra Nova, who is played by Emma Corrin, 28.
The filmmaker told Entertainment Weekly: “One other one that’s less comedic but really defined so much in the movie: We were shooting the scene where Wolverine is having compassion for Cassandra Nova.
“The scripted line was, ‘I’m wearing the suit, that means I’m an X-Man.’
“While we were filming the take, I remembered what Deadpool had said in the diner. So I called out during the take to Hugh from behind the camera. Hugh got very choked up and repeated a line after me, and that ended up defining the tone of that scene.”
While the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie did have its fair share of emotional moments, the flick leaned heavily on the comedic aspects of Deadpool, with Ryan Reynolds, 47, improvising plenty of quips on and off the set.
Levy explained: “I don’t know that there is a scene that didn’t benefit from inspiration sometimes on the shooting day, sometimes in the edit room, sometimes in the scoring stage.
“Off the very top of my head, certainly Deadpool turning to Wolverine and saying, ‘Welcome to the MCU. By the way, you’re joining at a bit of a low point.’ That was Ryan’s inspiration.
“Similarly, his speech to the Deadpool Corps. about miss after miss after miss: ‘Let’s just take the L and move on.’
“And then Ryan improvising his Nicepool in response to his improvisation, ‘I think it’s been steadily uphill since ‘Endgame’. Those are two of probably a thousand inspired adds.”

Footballers’ Wives fans are stunned when they spot Laila Rouass shopping in supermarket Iceland

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Footballers’ Wives’ fans are often stunned when they see Laila Rouass shopping in supermarket Iceland – because they think she should be buying goods in Waitrose instead.
The ‘EastEnders’ actress portrayed Amber Gates in the ITV drama from 2004 to 2006, and the 53-year-old star admitted supporters still often call her by her character name, despite her last appearing in the show nearly 20 years ago, and fans are particularly shocked if they see her picking up bargains rather than splashing the cash.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’, she said: “When you’re in [supermarket] Iceland everyone goes, ‘What are you doing in Iceland? You should be in Waitrose. What are you shopping in here for?’
“I’ll always be Amber Gates.”
Laila has told how she would often ring up the producers and say she couldn’t do certain ‘Footballers’ Wives’ scenes, because they were “completely outrageous”.
She said: “You would get the scripts and I’d be phoning up the producers going, ‘We can’t do this. This is outrageous.’
“And they were like, ‘That’s why we’re doing it.’
“Me and Ben Richards would be constantly doing take after take, because we just couldn’t stop laughing.
“Some of the things were just crazy.”
However, the star “absolutely loved” her time on the programme, which ran from 2002 to 2006 and starred the likes of Zoe Lucker, Gary Lucy, Susie Amy, ‘Coronation Street’ actor Ben Price and Laila’s ‘EastEnders’ co-star Gillian Taylforth.
She added: “It was completely outrageous. And it was so much fun. The characters were absolutely mental.
“I was a complete bunny boiler and I absolutely loved it.
“You could go anywhere, you could go as far as you wanted with the characters.
“In ‘Footballers’ Wives’ land it worked – everyone believed it.”

Alan Halsall wished Ricky Hatton a happy Father’s Day in Coronation Street quip

OHMYGOSSIP — Alan Halsall jokingly sent former professional boxer Ricky Hatton a “Happy Father’s Day” message.
The ‘Coronation Street’ star texted the legendary fighter to wish him all the best, after he started dating Alan’s on-screen mother Claire Sweeney, who portrays Cassie Plummer in the ITV1 soap.
The 41-year-old actor told the Manchester Evening News newspaper: “Obviously Claire’s got her own relationship going on in real life which I know is very public, so I don’t mind saying it but I did text Ricky Hatton the other day saying, ‘Happy Father’s Day!’ ”
Alan – who has played Tyrone Dobbs in the ITV1 soap since 1998 and has 10-year-old daughter Sienna-Mae with his ex Lucy-Jo Hudson, 41 – acknowledged how hard it can be coming onto the cobbles, but he admitted former ‘Brookside’ star Claire has “just settled in”.
He said: “It can be a difficult thing coming into ‘Coronation Street’.
“Everybody knows Claire from previous work and stuff like that but she has come and settled in and aside from me looking slightly older than her sometimes, she’s just settled in.”
Last month, Ricky gushed it was “amazing” to find love with Claire, 53, after they both competed on ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The 45-year-old TV personality told Prince Casino: “I didn’t go on ‘Dancing on’ Ice to find romance, I just went in hoping I wouldn’t break my f*****g neck.
“I’ve known Claire for a while. I’ve met her at a few functions and at different events over the years. Every time we’ve spoken we’ve hit it off and got on with each other.
“We ended up both training in Altrincham, Claire’s on ‘Coronation Street’ and she’s from Liverpool, so we used to train at the same time together.
“We got on straight away while we were training for the ice skating. And then when we travelled down to London where the show actually took place we got on even better.”
The ex ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’ star thought he had “half a chance” with Claire – who has 10-year-old son Jaxon with her ex Daniel Reilly – because they had always got on well.
Ricky said: “I always knew when I turned up and saw she was going on the ice that she was single and I knew I was single.
“I knew how we had got on so well every time we met each other. I probably thought I had half a chance.
“It’s amazing [to find] someone you’ve probably known for 25 years. I’ve been in relationships and she’s been in relationships. I’ve had my kids and she’s had her kids. And then 25 years later we found each other. It’s quite a nice story.”

Ryan Reynolds ‘has no idea’ if he’ll return as Deadpool

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Reynolds “has no idea” if he’ll play Deadpool again after ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’.
The 47-year-old actor is currently celebrating the success of his newly-released blockbuster – which has become the biggest R-rated movie in Hollywood history – though the superhero star has now revealed he isn’t sure whether this will be his last outing as the ‘Merc with a Mouth’ because director Shawn Levy made the film as “a complete experience” that doesn’t set up future installments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Speaking to Collider, Reynolds said: “I would say Shawn made it pretty clear, and I think in the most loving way because, talk about the greatest uptown problem any human beings could have is a studio like that saying, ‘What’s next?’ or, ‘How can we make something else?’
“But this movie was made as a complete experience. It wasn’t meant to be a commercial for another movie. It wasn’t meant to be any of that stuff. I get a great deal of joy making a movie like that.
“But honestly, right at this moment, I have no idea if I’ll ever wear that Deadpool suit again. I hope I do, but I don’t know. Right now’s the time to just kind of hang it up for a bit and see what happens next.”
‘The Adam Project’ filmmaker added he was happy neither Marvel or Disney pressured him to include set-up for future projects in the MCU and instead allowed him to create “one really satisfying self-contained story”.
He explained: “A lot of people have asked me, ‘Were you pressured to service the next movie, or to set up something in’ Avengers?’’
“Really, to their credit, neither Disney or Marvel ever asked us to service anything beyond one really satisfying self-contained story. And we made exactly that with their support. So as far as the future, [only] time will tell.”

Cate Blanchett: Borderlands is fun rather than art

OHMYGOSSIP — Cate Blanchett thinks ‘Borderlands’ is “fun, fun, fun” but acknowledges it probably won’t be remembered as a cinematic classic.
While early previews of the action-adventure movie – which is an adaptation of the video game franchise of the same name – haven’t been kind, the 55-year-old actress has insisted the flick is still an entertaining watch, even if it won’t be heralded as one of Hollywood’s biggest masterpieces.
She told USA Today: “People say, ‘Oh, that was a flop’ or ‘that was a hit.’ But sometimes the films we hold up as the greatest of all time were not financial or audience successes, yet they’ve become classics.
“I’m not saying ‘Borderlands’ is a classic! It’s fun, fun, fun, but it’s not ‘Citizen Kane!’”
The ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ star described the picture as its “own strange, weird thing” which had a “motley quality to it” due to the cast – which includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Gina Gershon, Kevin Hart and Ariana Greenblatt.
She said: “I mean, it’s not ‘The Grapes of Wrath’. It’s not ‘Blade Runner’. It’s its own strange, weird thing, and when you look at the casting, there’s a motley quality to it.
“We’re a very motley crew, in life and in art. I don’t think anyone would call ‘Borderlands’ art, but it’s fun.”
Looking at her co-stars, Blanchett described Curtis as an “exceptional” performer and joked that the ‘Showgirls’ actress added her usual “va-va-voom” to the movie.
She gushed: “Jamie’s just exceptional. And when Gina walked on set, it was like va-va-voom, as it always is with her.”
In order to prepare for her role, Blanchett purchased a PlayStation 5 and played the first ‘Borderlands’ game, which the ‘Tar’ star admitted she found “quite addictive”.
She said: “I thought, ‘This could be really interesting.’ In the game, there was always a nod and a wink; a deliberate B-grade mash-up of chunky sci-fi and spaghetti Western.”

Olivia Attwood’s mysterious phone call uncovered Bradley Dack’s cheating

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Attwood discovered Bradley Dack was cheating on her when she received a mysterious late-night phone call from another woman.
The ‘Love Island’ star was dating the footballer before she joined the cast of the hit ITV show but they broke up after she found out he’d been unfaithful with his ex-girlfriend – and now Olivia has revealed she discovered what he’d been up to back in 2017 when she got a strange call from an upset female.
She told The Sun newspaper: “This girl was really upset and said, ‘Hello’, and I asked, ‘Who’s this?’ She replied, ‘It’s Brad’s girlfriend’. I was like, ‘Whoa, whoa. And again, please’.
“Then we had a chat, and basically, [he] had been seeing her as well as me.”
The pair broke up and Olivia joined the cast of ‘Love Island’ – dating cast mate Chris Hughes before later going back to Bradley. The couple married in June 2023 and Olivia insists their relationship is now completely different to those dicey early days.
She added to the publication: “I feel like we had to break up and fall apart to grow up. And we both grew up a lot in those years. Obviously, at the time, I was absolutely furious but we weren’t in a serious, committed relationship.
“I mean, he did me dirty, let’s not get it twisted, but it wasn’t like we were in the relationship we are now. It’s such a cliche, but trust is earned.
“There’s not one thing anyone can do to win it back. It’s something you can build and grow, or you can damage it. I believe the time you spend together as a couple and every little thing you do throughout life builds that trust … That whole thing feels like another lifetime ago.”
The pair’s 2019 engagement and their 2023 wedding was documented in reality series ‘Olivia Meets Her Match’.

Patsy Palmer confirms new EastEnders return

OHMYGOSSIP — Patsy Palmer is returning to ‘EastEnders’.
The 52-year-old actress – who made her debut as Bianca Jackson in 1993 and has enjoyed return stints of various lengths over the years – will be heading back to Albert Square later this year, lining her alter ego up for a reunion with dad David Wicks (Michael French), who is also returning to Walford.
Sharing a photo of Patsy in character, the soap’s official X account posted: “Albert Square is set to get a whole lot noisier in the coming months as Bianca Jackson returns to Walford once again, but unbeknownst to her, dad David Wicks is also hot on her tail… #EastEnders (sic)”
Bianca made her debut in Albert Square in 1993, with Patsy leaving the soap in 1999 before returning again in 2008 for a six-year stint. The actress reprised the role for Whitney’s planned wedding to Callum Highway (Tony Clay) in 2019 but a planned reappearance in 2020 was axed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She returned earlier this year, with Bianca the first to have suspicions about half-sister Sonia Fowler’s (Natalie Cassidy) partner Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman), though her warnings were ignored and he has spiralled out of control since her exit in June.
Meanwhile, last month Michael said he was “honoured” to be back for a short stint as David for the first time in a decade.
He said in a statement: “I feel honoured to be asked to reprise the role of David Wicks once again. It may only be a brief visit, but we know from his past that David never fails to create a lot of drama in a very short time.”
Soap bosses are delighted to have the “legendary” character back on screen in preparation for ‘EastEnders’ upcoming 40th anniversary.
Executive producer Chris Clenshaw said: “David Wicks is undoubtedly one of EastEnders’ most beloved rogues, and we are thrilled to welcome the talented Michael French back to the legendary role as we lead up to the show’s 40th anniversary.
“David’s character was never shy of drama during his previous stints, and I can assure you this return will be no different.”
Michael played David – who is the son of the late Pat Butcher (Pam St. Clement) and Pete Beale (Peter Dean) from 1993 to 1996 before returning in 2012 and again from 2013 to 2014.

Zoe Kravitz thanks Channing Tatum for letting her be a ‘control freak’ director

OHMYGOSSIP — Zoe Kravitz has thanked her fiance Channing Tatum for letting her be a “psycho control freak” director.
The couple is believed to have met when Channing signed up to star in movie ‘Blink Twice’ – which is directed by Zoe – and at the film’s Los Angeles premiere on Thursday night (09.08.24) Zoe thanked her leading man for helping her through the difficult process as she stepped behind the camera to direct for the first time.
Reading a note to the film’s crew, Zoe said: “From producing to performing to the pep talks to holding my head or my feet while I cried on the bathroom floor because I thought I f***** it all up, thank you for letting me be a complete ODC psycho control freak.
“Thank you for your patience. Making this film with you has been an awfully great adventure. Thank you for trusting me to female direct you. It’s really very cool to get to make a movie, but when you get to do it with the love of your life, it’s even cooler.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zoe also used her speech to thank the crew for all their hard work, saying: “Thank you for] the time it took to make this movie what we dreamed it could be. All of you worked harder than you were being paid to work.
“All of you lost sleep and probably sanity over this project. All of you received a number of weird fever-dream text messages from me at strange hours of the night. But none of you rolled your eyes and called me a bitch, at least to my face, when I said, ‘We’re not there yet.’
“All of you said, ‘Yes, let’s keep going, let’s get there,’ and we did.”
Zoe and Channing are believed to have become engaged in October 2023 after two years of dating after Zoe was seen showing off a massive ring on her left hand.
Her rocker dad Lenny later confirmed the news and revealed his daughter is planning to walk down the aisle in 2025.
Speaking on the ‘Zoe Ball and Friends’ podcast, Lenny explained: “They’re in love. We’re going to have a wedding next year.”
When asked if he will be performing at the event, Lenny replied: “I don’t think so. [I’ll] just be hanging out.”
During the podcast, Lenny expressed his admiration for ‘Magic Mike’ star Channing and insisted he’s become part of the family.
He said: “He’s a really great guy. He was raised well. So, you know, he’s got manners. He’s charming. He’s a soulful human being. And so, he’s become part of the family quite quickly.”

Nicolas Cage had talks for Deadpool and Wolverine cameo

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicolas Cage almost appeared in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’.
The Marvel Studios blockbuster – which features Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in the title roles – features cameos from a string of stars reprising their past superhero alter egos, such as Wesley Snipes as Blade, Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, and it has now emerged there were discussions with the ‘Pig’ star about playing Johnny Blaze from ‘Ghost Rider’ again.
Asked if Nicolas potentially appearing was ever discussed, Ryan told Collider: “Yes.
“Came to a conversation for sure. Yeah, but no.”
The 47-year-old actor said nothing further to explain why the cameo didn’t happen.
Meanwhile, Wesley Snipes recently admitted he was hesitant about signing up for the film as he thought it “very unlikely” the movie could achieve what it was planning.
He told Entertainment Weekly: “It started with a text from Ryan Reynolds.
“I did not think it was possible. I didn’t think he would be able to pull it off. I didn’t think that Marvel was into it. Disney was into it. And also because they had Mahershala [Ali], you know, cast for the next upcoming version of it. So, it didn’t make sense to me.”
Meanwhile, director Shawn Levy recently revealed the production team was “looking at a 70-name menu of Marvel characters” – including Ben Affleck’s Daredevil.
He told Variety: “Early on, when we were looking at a 70-name menu of Marvel characters, Daredevil was on one of those lists, but never since those earliest of conversations, and never to the point of outreach or offers or anything like that.
“We made contact with everyone featured in the Fox tribute reel halfway through our end credits — and that’s dozens of actors who have been a part of that legacy.
“That was fun to build a love letter to those years, those characters, and all the actors who played them.”

Susie Dent wrote debut novel during Countdown breaks

OHMYGOSSIP — Susie Dent wrote her new novel during ‘Countdown’ breaks.
The 59-year-old lexicographer, etymologist, and media personality has been a regular on Channel 4’s ‘Countdown’ since 1992 but recently branched out with the release of her debut novel ‘Guilty by Definition’.
She told the Belfast Telegraphy: “I knew I couldn’t have a nine-to-five working routine, so I snatched any moments I could to write — on buses, trains, in between ‘Countdown’ episodes.
“For all that it was sometimes frustrating, it also kept my enthusiasm for writing very much alive.
“Writing the novel became an absolute joy and I loved approaching language and etymology in an entirely different way.
“But I’d be lying if I said it was easy. Writing fiction requires very different skills to non-fiction and I found the weaving together of the story’s intricate threads really challenging.
“But I love the parallels between word detection and crime solving: they share the same requirements of looking for clues, gathering evidence, fathoming human motivations. That was a hugely fun part of writing for me.”
Meanwhile, Susie says working on ‘Countdown’ is a “privilege” and she has no plans to leave despite her new career.
She said: “Almost all of us have watched it at some point, and so many of our audience and contestants tell us how they grew up playing it with their parents and grandparents.
“Being part of that history has been such a privilege. It’s given me over 30 years of joy and I hope there will be many more.”

Sadie Sink conquered fear of singing to star in O’Dessa

OHMYGOSSIP — Sadie Sink had to conquer a crippling fear of singing to star in ‘O’Dessa’.
The ‘Stranger Things’ actress played the title role in a Broadway production of ‘Annie’ when she was just 11 years old, but despite wowing audiences she started having panic attacks and vowed never to sing again once she left the show.
Sadie told Variety: “Singing became the worst thing ever. I was terrified by it … I didn’t want to sing ever again.”
However, she had to get over her fears when she was cast in new movie musical ‘O’Dessa’ because she was required to sing onscreen.
She said of the project: “There was this moment where I was just like, ‘Oh my God. I can’t believe I said yes to this. F***. What am I doing?’ …
“I would sing a song, and no one else would really know that I’m freaking out on the inside, but in my own head, it’s like, ‘Oh, that’s not my voice. That’s not how I can sing this song’ …
“There were some days where it was harder than others. But sometimes, it was like, ‘I feel completely fearless right now, and I’m singing in front of a lot of people!’”
Sadie went on to explain the trick to conquering her fear was all in her acting performance, adding: “She [the character] was singing; it wasn’t me … That, I feel comfortable with. But Sadie is not going to be singing anytime soon.”
