Rebecca Hall needs to push herself

OHMYGOSSIP — Rebecca Hall “doesn’t particularly enjoy” acting if she’s not constantly busy.
The 39-year-old actress was attracted to the lead role in new thriller ‘Resurrection’ because the project seemed to offer an “insurmountable” challenge and she admitted the “crazy person” inside of her couldn’t resist being pushed to her limits.
She told Deadline: “You know I think I have a slightly self-flagellating instinct when it comes to acting.
“I don’t particular enjoy it unless there’s a lot to do.
“This was one of those scripts where there just was an enormous journey to go on, and the mountain seemed almost insurmountable. That was a challenge the crazy person in me couldn’t resist.”
Meanwhile, writer-and-director Andrew Semans admitted it was a “no-brainer” to approach Rebecca to play single mother Margaret – whose life is ripped open by a blast from the past – in the film.
He said: “It was a no-brainer going to Rebecca since I was such a huge fan, such an admirer of her work.”
The actress’ comments echo remarks she’s previously made about being a “sucker” for wanting to “run a marathon” in her movies.
Reflecting on her psychological horror ‘The Night House’, she said: “It was exhausting. It’s insane. It was really physically incredibly demanding. And that’s before you even get to the bit where I’m acting with an invisible nothing.
“It was very demanding. I like that. I’m a sucker for wanting to run a marathon when I do acting. I do think it was nice, but definitely challenging, and the bits with the invisible whatever were sort of unparalleled ridiculousness in my acting career.”
Meanwhile, Rebecca previously confessed that she always dreamed of starring in an “extreme comedy”.
She explained: “I’m a big believer in trying to do a lot of different genres and different types of things as an actor.
“I think it makes you stronger as an actor. I have really, for a long time, wanted to do some quite extreme comedy, not just more like drama-comedy.”

Dolph Lundgren says Clint Eastwood is a ‘big inspiration’

OHMYGOSSIP — Dolph Lundgren has hailed Clint Eastwood as one of his “biggest inspirations.”
The 64-year-old actor – who shot to fame playing He-Man in the 1980s as well as ‘Rocky VI’ and ‘Red Scorpion’ and made his directorial debut with the 2004 film ‘The Defender’ – admires the 91-year-old actor-turned-filmmaker for making some of his best work in his later career.
He said: “I look at people Clint Eastwood who is a tough guy. People underestimate him not realising he’s an artist but he’s made some of the greatest movies ever after the age of 60. When he did ‘Unforgiven’, people started to realise he was a really terrific director.”
Dolph went on to quip that he was unsure if he can “last as long” as Eastwood but called him an “inspiration” for managing a successful transition from one side of the camera to the other.
Speaking to HeyUGuys, he explained: “I think one of my biggest inspirations is Clint Eastwood because he’s the guy who made that transition from acting to directing and from action to drama. That’s a tough transition to make. And he’s still going on at 91! I don’t know if I can last that long but if I can do a tenth of what he’s done then I’ll be very happy!”
The action star “feels really good” now but “personal problems” hindered his enjoyment at the peak of his career in the 1980s.
He said: “I enjoy [my career] more now than when I was in the middle of it because I went through a lot of – as we all do – personal problems, business problems, too much alcohol. But I went through all that as actors do. I managed to pull out of it and somehow I ended up feeling really good about my career. I have a lot of options now. I wanted that stuff to happen when I was 35 but it just wasn’t meant to be.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Foden has been voted off ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The 36-year-old sports star has lost in a skate-off against Ria Hebden, after finding himself at the foot of the leaderboard.
After his exit was announced, Ben – who was voted out by all of the ‘Dancing on Ice’ judges – said: “I thought there would be someone on the show that couldn’t skate. Turns out it was me. Literally everyone was so good.”
Despite his early exit, Ben relished his time on the ITV show alongside his professional partner Robin Johnstone.
The rugby player – who is the first celebrity to leave the series – described his partner as “incredible”.
He said: “I really have enjoyed it – this woman is incredible and it’s the people who make this experience.”
Ben previously admitted that he feared looking like an “idiot” on the ice.
The former England international revealed he was concerned about making a fool of himself in front of the British public.
He told MailOnline: “What I’m more worried about, someone’s just gonna look at me and be like, ‘What an idiot, why’s he signed up to do this show, he can’t even stand on his feet!'”
Ben also confessed that his skillset isn’t well-suited to ice skating, admitting he’s “not flexible” at all.
Speaking about the challenge, he said: “I’m really not flexible. I don’t bend well at the knee. All the habits you’re not supposed to have as an ice skater, I have them all!”

Amanda Barrie believes she’d have been fired from Coronation Street if she came out

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Barrie believes she’d have been sacked from ‘Coronation Street’ if she’d spoken publicly about her sexuality.
The 86-year-old actress – who portrayed Alma Baldwin from 1981 to 1982 before returning in 1988 until she was killed off in 2001 – “spend a fortune” trying to keep stories about her relationships with women under wraps because she believed some of her co-stars would have refused to work with her if she’d directly addressed speculation about her personal life.
Speaking on the ‘Coronation Street’ podcast, she said: “Every week I would come up to the office. They’d go, ‘You’re coming out.’ ‘Am I?’
‘Yeah, they’ve got this thing on you.’
“I spent a fortune on solicitors because believe me if that had happened to me at that time they would not have kept me in ‘Coronation Street’ and I will stand by that.
“Not because of them [the producers] but because of people, who shall be nameless, who would’ve said, ‘I’m not working with her.’ ”
And Amanda thinks she was “ahead of the game” because of the range of gay characters and storylines on the show now.
She added: “Now, I fall about, I said, ‘Bloody hell, are they opening a gay club in Coronation Street now?’
“What’s going on? How many are they? They’re all coming out. Why didn’t they come out when I was there? I good have had so many hooks if they’d come out.
“I was ahead of the game.”
The veteran actress may have left the soap more than 20 years ago, but she’s still a big fan.
She said: “I watch it religiously. I’ll just catch up with the family.”
And Amanda treasures a very rare souvenir she has from the show – one of the famous cobbles.
She explained: “I was always wanting a bit of Coronation Street memorabilia.
“When Bill Roache had his trial that was in London I went to get a car late at night after we’d been filming, they’d taken me down in a car, and Vinnie the prop man said, ‘There’s a present for you. It’s under a tea cloth in the car.’
“And I got into the car and it was a cobble. It was because they’d been putting a ramp in for disabled people and went they put them back they couldn’t fit it in so there was one spare cobble and I’ve got it. I don’t know how many people have got cobbles from ‘Coronation Street’ but I’ve got one and I can actually tell you exactly where it came from, from outside the corner shop.”

Dame Emma Thompson: Being nude at 62 is ‘challenging’

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Emma Thompson found it “extremely challenging” to go “entirely nude” in her new movie.
The 62-year-old actress plays a teacher who hires a male escort (Daryl McCormack) in the hope of having her first orgasm in ‘Good Luck to You, Leo Grande’ and although she wouldn’t have been comfortable with stripping off earlier in her career, she admitted being in her 60s made it more difficult to do the full-frontal scene because audiences aren’t used to seeing older “untreated” bodies on the screen.
Speaking during a virtual Cinema Cafe discussion at the Sundance Film Festival, she said: “It’s very challenging to be nude at 62,
“I don’t think I could’ve done it before the age that I am, And yet, of course, the age that I am makes it extremely challenging because we aren’t used to seeing untreated bodies on the screen.”
The veteran actress believes there are still “dreadful demands” placed upon women to maintain perfect figures.
She said: “Nothing has changed in the dreadful demands made upon women in the real-world world but also in acting. This thing of having to be thin is still the same as it ever was, and actually in some ways I think it’s worse now.”
To prepare for the nude scene, not only did Emma and Daryl strip off, but their director Sophie Hyde also disrobed, and the trio also spent a lot of time reflecting on their bodies.
Emma said: “Sophie, Daryl, and I rehearsed entirely nude and talked about our bodies, talked about our relationship with our bodies, drew them, discussed the things that we find difficult about, things we like about them, described one another’s bodies.”

Spider-Man: No Way Home becomes sixth highest-grossing movie

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ has become the sixth highest-grossing film of all time.
The Marvel blockbuster – which saw Andrew Garfield, 38, and Tobey Maguire, 46, return as the web-slinging superhero alongside their 25-year-old successor Tom Holland – took $1.69 billion (£1.25 billion) at the global box office, Deadline reports.
Released in cinemas just last month, the flick has superseded ‘Jurassic World’ ($1.67 billion) and ‘The Lion King’ ($1.662 billion).
The motion picture became the first film to make $1 billion since 2019’s ‘Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker’.
Spidey fans will be pleased to know a sequel is in “active” development.
On his conversations with Sony boss Amy Pascal, Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed: “Amy and I and Disney [Marve’s parent company] and Sony are talking about – yes, we’re actively beginning to develop where the story heads next, which I only say outright because I don’t want fans to go through any separation trauma like what happened after ‘Far From Home’.
“That will not be occurring this time.”
Feige was referring to a dispute with Sony following the release of 2019’s ‘Far From Home’ over the financing of Spider-Man.
Pascal added: “I love working with Kevin. We have a great partnership, along with Tom Rothman, who runs Sony and has been instrumental, a great leader with great ideas. I hope it lasts forever.”
Meanwhile, Garfield recently admitted it was “very fun” lying about his role in ‘No Way Home’.
He confessed: “It was like this massive game of Werewolf that I was playing with journalists and with people guessing, and it was very fun.
“There were moments where I was like, ‘God, I hate lying.’ I don’t like to lie and I’m not a good liar, but I kept framing it as a game.
“And I kept imagining myself purely as a fan of that character, which is not hard to do… I placed myself in that position of, well, what would I want to know? Would I want to be toyed with? Would I want to be lied to?
“Would I want to be kept on my toes guessing? Would I want to discover it when I went to the theater? Would I want to be guessing, guessing, guessing?”
Fans were delighted to see three generations of the character united on the big screen, and many are even calling for Garfield to return and complete his own standalone trilogy, having starred in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’.
He recently said: “I mean, yes, definitely open to something if it felt right. Peter and Spider-Man, those characters are all about service, to the greater good and the many.
“He’s a working-class boy from Queens that knows struggle and loss and is deeply empathetic.
“I would try to borrow Peter Parker’s ethical framework in that, if there was an opportunity to step back in and tell more of that story, I would have to feel very sure and certain in myself.”

Tyler Gillett wants to director another Scream movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Tyler Gillett hopes to make another ‘Scream’ film.
The director teamed up with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin behind the camera on the latest movie in the horror franchise and explained that the crew have more ideas to bring to the table.
Tyler told Collider: “I think I can say that we both love ideas and I think we want to pursue both things. We have a bunch of really fun, original things that we’re working on.
“We certainly know that Guy (Bisick) and Jamie (Vanderbilt) have amazing ideas about where ‘Scream’ could go after this last one. We just want to be involved in all of it.”
The filmmaker continued: “We just want to be involved in all of it. I think once you’ve had an experience with people that really changes you, not only creatively, but fills your heart up and fulfils you, really, in ways that I think we all never thought we would be fulfilled, you just want to replicate that as many times as possible.”
Tyler admits that following in the footsteps of the legendary Wes Craven by helming a ‘Scream’ movie was a “unique challenge” and believes he achieved a career goal with the project.
He said: “This was a unique challenge and I think it scratched an itch we don’t know we had, and I think it’ll continue to itch. So hopefully there’s more.”
Tyler and Matt previously helmed the poorly received horror film ‘Devil’s Due’ and the former says that the experience taught the pair a lot.
He explained: “Just to have had that experience as a movie fan is just incredible. And then to have it not be embraced with open arms, as you kindly put it, I think it toughened us in a lot of ways.”

The ‘Spider-Man’ actress also revealed how she likes parts to feel like “therapy” between the character and herself.
Kirsten said: “Whenever I do a role, I feel like I’m doing therapy between me and the character I’m playing.
“Rose is very people-pleasing, not wanting to upset her husband about what’s happening. So she turns to alcohol to help her just be in the home, and not worry terribly about her son. But that isolation spins her out, so it was about finding what that is for me.”

Kym Marsh gets down and dirty between the sheets in new stage role

OHMYGOSSIP — Kym Marsh gets hot and steamy on stage in ‘Fatal Attraction’.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress, who appeared as Michelle Connor on the ITV soap alongside Oliver Farnworth, took to the stage with her former co-star in a new role which saw her getting down and dirty between the sheets.
Kym, 45, plays Alex Forrest in the play, who is the mistress of married lover Oliver’s characters Dan Gallagher.
When Dan ends up having a weekend affair with woman who refuses to let it end, she becomes obsessed. Her obsession leads to fury and manipulation and a plot for revenge against the man that scorned her.
The play – which was written by James Deardon, is based on the 1987 motion picture of the same name that stars Michael Douglas and Glenn Close – debuted at the Royal Theatre in Brighton this week.
Kim admitted that she was terrified of getting naked on stage with Oliver, 39 having to perform raunchy sex scenes in front of an audience.
Kym, who had been preparing for the role by hitting the gym ahead of the live show, told The Sunday Mirror’s Notebook: “Oh I’m terrified, absolutely terrified. I’ve been fortunate enough to have been in the acting game for a long time now and this is something I’ve never actually done – it’s going to be a challenge in itself.
“But I think once I’ve done it once it will be done. And it’s not real! It’s just another side to the part I’m playing.”
She added to The Sun: “Nobody needs to see this body right now. I’m 45, I’ve had four children and I’ve not had an easy year with my fitness — it had to go on the back burner.
“There is one particularly racy scene, and I must admit that’s a bit daunting. I’ve never had to do intimate scenes like that, so this is all a very new thing for me.
“I just need to feel confident doing it, so I’m working hard at the gym to try to get in shape.”

Penny Lancaster says effects of menopause left her with anxiety

OHMYGOSSIP — Penny Lancaster has revealed her battle with menopause left her with crippling anxiety.
The TV personality, 50, – who joined ITV’s ‘Loose Women’ panel in 2014 – was in tears as she broke down last year on the show as she spoke about the detrimental effects menopause has had on her mental health.
Penny who sought help from a doctor following her symptoms said that she was experiencing crippling anxiety and uncontrollable tears.
She told viewers: “I had a few tears with her [the doctor], trying to explain what I’ve been going through in the last few months and she said, ‘You’ve got to get to the point where you say to yourself, ‘I see you’.
“You’d feel guilty for being upset, and then you go for coffee with a friend and they say, ‘How are you, everything good?’
“And then you burst into tears and you don’t know why you’re crying.”
The doctor had prescribed the former model with anti-depressants. Even though they did help she felt that they did not solve the underlying problem and acted like a “form of plaster that covered it up” instead.
Penny – Who shares two children with husband Rod Stewart, 77 – began taking Hormone Replacement Therapy tablets, after speaking to an expert that appeared on ‘Loose Women’. These tablets allowed Penny to come off anti-depressants completely.
However despite minimizing the other symptoms, she still suffered with anxiety.
She told Hello! Back in October, that those suffering should seek help from their loved ones.
The mum-of-two recalled one incident where she lost control of her emotions and had a meltdown.
Penny said: “I was calling the boys [son Alastair, 15, and Aiden, 10] down for dinner, and getting impatient.
“When they eventually came into the kitchen, rowing, I screamed and threw a plate of dinner across the room and burst into tears.
“Rod was worried for me. We’re honest and talk openly about everything, but I didn’t know how to explain why I was feeling the way I did.”
Penny, who was freaked out at first has learnt to embrace the menopause and accept it being a new stage in her life.
She added: “I’ve got to say goodbye to the old Penny and say hello to the new one.’ I felt it was all shutting down around me.
“But as you get older you embrace each stage of your life with more maturity, and give yourself a bit of a break.”

Lauren Goodger is pregnant with her second child

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Goodger is pregnant with her second child.
The 35-year-old reality star – who has been in a relationship with Charles Drury, 24, since 2020 – fell pregnant just eight weeks after giving birth to their daughter Larose in July 2021 and suffered from “mum guilt” upon discovering the pregnancy because there will be such a close age gap between them.
She said: “We weren’t very careful and Charlie was really pleased, but being honest I was really in two minds about it. I was like, ‘I’m just getting myself back together – I’m going back to square one. Is this fair?’ You get real mum guilt, like, ‘What about Larose? She’s still a baby, she still needs me, I won’t be able to be there for her.”
The former ‘TOWIE’ star briefly split from Charles back in November 2021 and explained that “a lot went through [her] mind” but ultimately decided to go through with the pregnancy when he urged her not to have a termination.
Speaking to OK! magazine, she said: “A lot went through my mind which is why I’ve held out a bit longer until I’ve announced it. Charlie was like, ‘I really want this baby.’ And I said, ‘So do I.’ I made the decision to go ahead with it and I’m so glad I did. We had that little break [in November] and he came back and was like, ‘You’re not having a termination – I want this family.’ I knew deep down I was going to go ahead with it, but I was scared. I’ve got to think of Larose too. But if I had a big gap between children, I’d get myself sorted, Larose in a good routine and then I’m back to square one. I might as well do it now when I’m in new baby mode.”
The news comes just days after it was reported that Lauren had dumped Charles when he admitted to sleeping with Instagram model Amy Gilbert when they were on a break, leaving the relationship in a “really funny stage” and “up in the air”.
She said: “Last week I was like, ‘This isn’t happening right now.’ It’s a really funny stage – we’re doing our own thing. It’s been a rocky time and it’s been really hard for me. But I’ve got to focus on the pregnancy and the baby. I’m a very hands-on mum, it’s all on me, so it doesn’t feel much different. I’m here on my own with my mum and my baby. Charlie’s really hurt me so I don’t know what the future holds. At the minute it’s all up in the air. We need to get a co-parenting schedule together.”

Doctor Who bosses ‘considering a range of radical options’ to improve ratings

OHMYGOSSIP — Doctor Who bosses are “considering a range of radical options” to improve ratings following slump in viewing figures.
The BBC sci-fi favourite – which currently stars Jodie Whittaker as the titular Time Lord – pulled in an audience of 3.4million for the New Year’s special, the lowest ever since 2005.
A TV insider told The Sun: “The new team are considering a range of radical options in a bid to revive the flagging fortunes of a programme which is adored by millions around the world.”
The source went on to claim that this could see the BBC “put space” between Jodie’s exit from the role and the reveal of her successor, who is yet to be announced.
The source added: “That could see them take the decision to put space between Jodie’s time in the Tardis and that of her successor. Which means she may not be seen regenerating into the next doctor. She has already wrapped filming on this year’s special episodes, and a new Time Lord has yet to be revealed.”
Speculation over who will replace Jodie as the Time Lord has built since her exit from the show was announced, with Years & Years singer Olly Alexander and his ‘It’s a Sin’ co-star Omari Douglas hotly rumoured to be taking on the iconic role, but the BBC has remained tight-lipped on who the new star will be.
A spokeswoman for the show said: “There are lots of exciting plans in store but viewers are just going to have to wait and see.”

Coronation Street and Emmerdale set to move to new timeslots

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘Emmerdale’ are set to move to new timeslots.
The ITV soap operas will undergo a schedule shake-up from March 2022, which will see ‘Coronation Street’ ditch its split episode format and move to three hour-long instalments on a Monday, Wednesday and a Friday at 8pm whilst ‘Emmerdale’ will remain as a half-hour show but will be broadcast every week night at 7:30pm as opposed to its current slot of 7pm.
In a statement, ITV said: “The nation’s two most popular continuing dramas, Coronation Street and Emmerdale, are fundamental to the success of ITV, and we know that, as with all dramas, viewers increasingly watch them whenever, and however they choose. The new scheduling means that viewers can watch them live on TV in one go in a continuous soap fix, as well as on ITV Hub where they are regularly in the most watched shows every month.”
The new scheduling will put the soaps in a direct clash with BBC rival soap opera ‘EastEnders’, which airs four times a week at 7:30pm, 8pm and 8:30pm on varying nights.
Along with the announcement, John Whiston, ITV’s Managing Director of Continuing Drama promised fans of ‘Coronation Street’ that the new format would give the long-running soap a “brilliant new canvas” whist Yorkshire-based soap ‘Emmerdale’ will “do what it does best” in its new timeslot.
He said: “With ‘Coronation Street’ bursting at the seams with fantastic story and character, the new format gives the show a brilliant new canvas on which to shine. And ‘Emmerdale’ will do what it does best in this new time slot where viewers can continue to enjoy the dramatic goings on in the Dales.”
