OHMYGOSSIP — Vic Reeves’ vile farts stopped filming on ‘Big Night Out’.
The 63-year-old star’c comedy partner Bob Mortimer gassed out the studio by letting rip with trouser trumps which had the odour of a “rotting corpse” as the duo – known as Reeves and Mortimer – filmed their Channel 4 series.
The smell was so bad for Bob that it caused a halt to filming.
Writing in his autobiography ‘And Away…’, he revealed: “Vic was performing at his desk with Morrissey the Consumer Monkey puppet (from ‘Big Night Out’), and as I knelt there listening to Vic speak, I began to notice that he was punctuating his words with little tommy squeakers from his a**e.
“Unfortunately, my nose was only about six inches from the source of the squeaks and I had no escape.
“Each individual squeak evoked a different aspect of a rotting corpse.”
Not only did Bob have to deal with his co-stars flatulence problems, he also had to deal with injuries caused by Vic – real name Jim Moir – when stunts went wrong.
He said: “On one occasion Jim had to attack me by ripping off the top of his desk and striking me with it.
“In preparation, one side of it was actually balsa wood, which the impact would be minimal.
“Jim unfortunately picked up the wrong side and smacked me over the head with a large piece of solid wood.
“I had a lump in my head the size of an angry plum for days.”
Mortimer has also revealed that he is going on tour with his friend and ‘Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing’ co-star Paul Whitehouse later in the year.
The show, ‘An Evening with Mortimer and Whitehouse’, will discuss everything from their passion for fishing to, life, death and falling over as middle aged men.
A preview for the tour says: “Bob and Paul invite you to join them for a chat about fishing, life, death and falling over,
“Will Bob ever stop winding? Will Paul ever stop whining?
“This is your chance to find out. You never know, you might just get an answer.”

OHMYGOSSIP — June Brown has paid tribute to the “charming” Leonard Fenton.
The actor – who was famous for his role as Dr. Harold Legg in ‘EastEnders’ – passed away at the age of 95 on Saturday (29.01.22) and has been fondly remembered by June, who played the legendary Dot Cotton in the BBC soap.
June said in a statement: “I first met Leonard as Dr. Legg when I joined the cast of ‘EastEnders’ as Dot, his hypochondriac patient, in 1985.
“He was a charming man in all ways, first as a person and then as an actor, extremely polite and kind. I enjoyed working with him enormously for many years and missed him when he retired.
“I was glad that I’d been with him for his last scene with Dot at his bedside and my thoughts are with his devoted family.”
Dr. Legg appeared in the first episode of the soap back in February 1985 and was writing out of the programme in emotional scenes in 2019 – as he returned to tell Dot that he was suffering from terminal cancer.
Natalie Cassidy, who plays Sonia Fowler in the programme, said: “I had the pleasure to work with Leonard. He was utterly charming and continuously joked with me and loved talking about his past. I feel honoured that our paths crossed.”
Fenton’s death was confirmed by his family on Monday (31.01.22) as they explained how they “feel incredibly lucky to have been able to be with him as his health worsened towards the end – a privilege denied to so many during these tough times”.
A statement released by his family read: “The family of the actor Leonard Fenton are heartbroken to announce his death at the age of 95 on Saturday January 29. Best known for his role as Dr Legg on ‘EastEnders’, Leonard’s acting career spanned more than 60 years.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jay Blades is up for appearing in this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, after taking part in the Christmas special.
The 51-year-old TV presenter appeared on the BBC’s festive show alongside professional dance partner Luba Mushtuk last month, scoring 34 points out of a possible 40, and he would do the full series, but is concerned he may not have time.
When asked on the BBC Radio 2 ‘Breakfast Show’ today (25.01.22) whether he would be up for appearing in the full series, he said: “I tell you what, it would be nice but the only thing is, there’s so much other filming that I’m looking to do so, ‘The Repair Shop’ is kind of like full on.
“We film like six days a week so it’d be hard to fit it in – yeah.
“I’m not saying no, yeah.”
Despite Jay’s hugely respectable score of 34 points, he and Luba were beaten to the Glitterball Trophy by singer Anne-Marie and Graziano Di Prima, who scored a perfect 40.
While Jay is up for putting his dancing shoes on again, the star recently admitted he found training for the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Christmas special tougher than he expected.
He previously said: “I like new challenges, I never knew this would be this difficult. Learning dance routines means your brain has to function in a completely different way.
“When your brain gets it, hopefully your body catches up.”
Jay, who is best known for presenting ‘The Repair Shop’ and ‘Money for Nothing’, admits that when it comes to dancing formally he has two left feet.
He said: “I can do the dad dance, but I can’t dance formally!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sheridan Smith found presenting “nerve-wracking”.
The ‘Teacher’ star wants to focus more on acting now that COVID-19 social distancing measures have eased.
The 40-year-old actress said: “Acting will always be my passion. I did some presenting for a while and I was really grateful for those jobs because I did love them – especially ‘Pooch Perfect’ as I’m a mad dog lover.
“But I found the presenting quite nerve-wracking and I think I’ll probably do less of it now that we’re out of lockdown.”
In May 2020, the ‘Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps’ star labelled the BBC One doggie grooming show as her “dream job” and said it was “a match made in heaven”.
She said: “To combine my love of dogs with a brand new job presenting for the BBC was a match made in heaven! Everyone who knows me will understand that animals, and especially dogs are very special to me.
“I live at home with six dogs, so presenting a show dedicated to our four-legged best friends didn’t take much consideration! I’m used to being on set with lots of actors, this time I can’t wait to hang out all day with dozens of dogs. It is literally my dream job!”
The ‘Gavin and Stacey’ star has also gushed about Kelvin Fletcher, her 38-year-old co-star on new Channel 5 drama ‘Teacher’, in which she plays Jenna, a teacher accused of having a close relationship with a student.
She said: “I always thought he was a great actor.”
The two-time Olivier Award winner revealed Jenna and Kelvin’s character, Adam, a teaching colleague at the school, have “a really complex relationship”.
She is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column as saying: “He’s a really nice guy and Jenna has a really complex relationship with his character.
“She’s so lost, she’s craving love but in all the wrong places and he’s a married man.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Rylan Clark only stepped foot in his home gym once before his body transformation.
The 33-year-old TV and radio presenter embarked on a body transformation throughout 2021 after a “dodgy year”, in which he shrunk to nine-stone and realised he needed to do something about it.
Rylan – who split from his husband, former ‘Big Brother’ contestant Dan Neal in June 2021 after six years of marriage – told ‘The Hundamental Guide To Life’ podcast: “I had a bit of a dodgy year last year. Then the next thing I knew I was nine-stone and I was like, ‘Oh s***, this ain’t good’.
“So I was like, ‘I’ve got a gym and I’ve only ever been in there once for a Lucozade, so I might as well start using it.’
“I got a trainer and said, ‘Can you make me look a bit buff?’ And he said, ‘Yeah’.”
But the Radio 2 presenter has admitted he could do with another visit to the gym, because he has “lost it all since Christmas”.
Rylan, who participated in a Six Pack Revolution programme with founder Scott Harrison, was under strict instructions.
He was advised what to eat and drink and had to complete daily exercise regimes, documenting his progress.
The trainer, who worked with Rylan in his Essex home, had him take part in strenuous exercise, which Ryan credits for changing his life.
He previously said: “Fitness and taking care of my body is always something I’ve wanted to do but never felt I’d be able to. Since meeting Scott and following The Six Pack Revolution plan it really has changed my life.
“My attitude to exercise has done a complete U-turn and I am now much more aware of the nutritional benefits of food, which has resulted in me making more conscious decisions on what I’m consuming.
“Not only has my body transformed but my mental health has massively improved too, I’m literally a new man! I’ve always worried about taking this step but it really has improved me for the better.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Claire King thinks Strictly Come Dancing’s celebrity contestants must be having “sneaky lessons” during the series – because they’re “way too good”.
The 60-year-old actress – best known for her role as Kim Tate in ITV’s ‘Emmerdale’ – appeared in the fourth series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ back in 2006, and the ‘Bad Girls’ actress, who finished sixth in the dance competition alongside pro Brendan Cole, thinks the contestants’ dancing abilities have improved.
She said: “I looked forward to doing ‘Strictly’ as it was learning a new skill and I really fancied doing it. But because of my arthritis, it was such hard work and very painful.
“When I did it, people would come in with two left feet – now I think the celebs must go off for sneaky lessons as they’re way too good!”
Since ‘Strictly’, Claire appeared in ‘Celebrity Big Brother’, but she admits that apart from the ballroom competition she isn’t a huge fan of reality TV.
Talking about her ‘CBB’ experience, she added: “I’m going to be completely honest. I only went in there to pay for the divorce! In terms of enjoyment, it depends who you go in with. I didn’t know most of them, but I did get on really well with Gary Busey, so I was pleased when he won it.”
Claire was married to her on-screen step-son Peter Amory for 10 years, but she filed for divorce after discovering her husband was having an affair with their ‘Emmerdale’ co-star Samantha Giles.
Since her divorce, Claire has met a new partner, but he prefers to keep out of the public eye.
She added to OK! magazine: “He couldn’t give a damn about showbiz. He’s a very down-to-earth Yorkshireman and isn’t bothered.
“He’s not the type you could ask to join a photoshoot, he’d tell me to b***** off!
“I don’t mind that at all – it gives us some privacy.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Patrick Murray has had a cancerous tumour removed from his lung.
The 65-year-old actor – who is backing a new government drive to get aches and pains checked out – has revealed a doctor discovered a malignant tumour in his lung.
Patrick – who played Mickey Pearce in ‘Only Fools and Horses’ – wrote on Twitter: “Naturally I wanted to keep my own health problems private, but failing to fully endorse this ad would be selfish.
“Thanks to my ultrascan I have a fighting chance. It showed my organs needed further investigation and tumours were spotted. This led to a PET scan which covers a much larger area.
“To my wonderful surprise these lesions were not cancerous but the scan did find an early-stage cancerous tumour in my lung. This has since been removed.”
Patrick has encouraged anyone who is experiencing any health worries to seek professional help.
The actor said on the micro-blogging platform: “I am tweeting now, which wouldn’t be the case if I hadn’t had the ultrasound all those months ago.
“A lot of people put these symptoms down to age and the discomfort to simply having a weak stomach. Please don’t ignore it if it persists.
“As for me, and thanks to the NHS, I can now see the same beautiful horizon as you.”
Patrick revealed the news four months after John Challis – his former ‘Only Fools and Horses’ co-star – died of cancer, aged 79.
Sue Holderness – who played Marlene, his on-screen wife – described the actor as a “beloved friend”.
She said: “Marlene without Boycie – it’s unthinkable. John Challis was my partner on screen and stage for 36 years and my beloved friend. RIP darling John. I will miss you every day.”

OHMYGOSSIP — AJ Odudu has signed up as the new host of ‘The Bridge’.
The 33-year-old star – who had to miss the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ final and live tour due to injury – has landed a new role at the helm of Channel 4’s reality challenge show, which is returning for a second series.
As quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Biz TV column, she said: “From the ‘Strictly’ ballroom I have taken off on to my next, new adventure.
“It’s so exciting to front a show that promises to push the envelope.
“I know ‘The Bridge’ is going to be bold, full of excitement and with plenty of drama. Bring it on.”
AJ is has been filming alongside explorer Aldo Kane in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam with the show, which was initially narrated by James McAvoy for its debut series in November 2020.
The upcoming eight-part run will see 16 strangers split into two teams as they join forces over 12 days to build a bridge over 1,000 feet of water.
The goal is to get across the water to reach the £200,000 cash prize on top of Fortune Rock, and whoever gets there first will choose whether or not to split the winnings with their teammates.
Meanwhile, there will be plenty of physical and mental challengers to overcome along the way.
The first series was filmed in the UK due to COVID-19 restrictions, with 12 contestants and a prize of £100,000.
When the show was first announced in 2020, Warren Smith – executive producer at Workerbee – teased the challenges awaiting the strangers taking part.
He said: “After months of lockdown, a group of strangers have come together to tackle an intense challenge.
“We aim to find out whether they will work in harmony or will ruthless behaviour play a part in securing the £100,000 winnings?”

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Roberts has approached the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ team to ask if he can sign up for the show.
The ‘Homes Under The Hammer’ presenter took part in ITV’s ‘Strictly The Real Full Monty’ last month, which was inspired by the BBC One Latin and ballroom competition and saw famous faces strip off and perform choreography to raise awareness of cancer.
But the 58-year-old TV star has revealed he’s hoping to be a part of the 2022 lineup for the latter show after ‘Strictly The Real Full Monty’ turned out to be completely different to what he was expecting.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, he said: “I was actually asking the people at ‘Strictly’ if there’s any chance they might actually take a phone call from me this year!
“I’ve ended up doing ‘Strictly The Real Full Monty’ which wasn’t quite what I was anticipating.
“But, actually that’s been just incredible and is something I’m so proud to have done.”
However, he admitted taking part on the rival broadcaster’s documentary might have scuppered his chances.
He added: “I mean, hopefully it shows I can dance.
“Whether or not it’s a nail in the coffin for my chances on ‘Strictly’ I don’t know.
“It might be the opposite. Maybe they’ll go ‘Actually, you know what he’s a good sport, he gives it his all and actually he can dance.”
He concluded: “Who knows? Wouldn’t that be great?”
Martin took part in ‘The Real Full Monty’ in memory of his best friend and colleague Dave, who died after being diagnosed with bowel cancer.
He was joined on the show by the likes of Blue’s Duncan James, model Christine McGuinness and ‘EastEnders’ legend Laila Morse.
Martin was dreading taking his kit off in front of the nation.
He said previously: “I am dedicating my appearance on ‘Strictly The Real Full Monty’ to Dave, and I know he’d be laughing his socks off at the prospect.
“He’d also know what a huge thing this is for me. I’m not body confident. I was badly bullied for being fat as a child, and those insecurities are hard to dislodge. I’ve happily managed 35 years on TV without revealing any part of my private anatomy, so the idea of getting stark b****** naked in front of millions of TV viewers and a 3,000-strong audience fills me with utter horror.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘EastEnders’ star Derek Martin has accused the show’s bosses of “trying to turn it into ‘Hollyoaks'”.
The 88-year-old star insists there are “so many” younger actors in the BBC One soap nowadays, which he says is similar to the Channel 4 show, and he has called for there to be more humour in ‘EastEnders’.
He said: “‘Coronation Street’ still has strong families but ‘EastEnders’ seems to have lost that.
“I’ve nothing against youngsters. They’re the future.
“But it’s like the BBC is trying to turn ‘EastEnders’ into ‘Hollyoaks’ with so many youngsters, and everyone’s having affairs and beating people up.
“All that doesn’t go on in real life all the time.”
Derek has recalled the days of his character Charlie Slater sitting around chatting with Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) and Jim Branning (John Bardon) while drinking beer, and he believes there should be more light-hearted scenes like those in ‘EastEnders’ nowadays.
He added to The Sun newspaper: “You’ve got to have humour, especially in the depths of COVID, because there’s always something to laugh about in life.
“You used to have Charlie, Patrick Trueman and Jim Branning sitting at the allotments with a few beers, just talking about silly things.
“That’s what happens in real life. You need that on ‘EastEnders’.”
In July, actor Stephen Fry claimed ‘EastEnders’ wasn’t as “funny” as rival soap ‘Coronation Street’.
He said: “The joke about ‘EastEnders’ is, ‘It’s very true to life.’
“But actually where it fails so often, unlike ‘Coronation Street’, is that it isn’t as funny.
“People are, whatever their situation, usually joking.
“You look at a market in the East End of London or Huddersfield or Edinburgh, there’s usually people joking with each other.
“Even if it’s a cheap silly joke about the weather being lovely when it’s raining, you know, a very basic piece of sarcasm.”
