Chris Pine leads cast members in talks for Star Trek 4

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg and more look set to return for a new ‘Star Trek’ movie.
The former is in talks to reprise his role as Captain James T. Kirk from JJ Abrams’ trilogy series.
Paramount Pictures made the announcement at Tuesday’s (15.02.22) Paramount Investors Day Presentation.
Zachary and Simon would reprise their roles as Spock and Scotty, respectively, while Zoe Saldana (Uhura), Karl Urban (Bones) and John Cho (Sulu) are also attached to the sequel.
The late Anton Yelchin, who played Chekov, sadly died before 2016’s ‘Star Trek Beyond’ hit cinemas, and it’s not known if his character will return with another actor.
Filming will commence later this year and JJ teased that they will take “‘Star Trek’ into areas that you’ve just never seen before.”
He said: “We are thrilled to say that we are hard at work on a new ‘Star Trek’ film that will be shooting by the end of the year that will be featuring our original cast and some new characters that I think are going to be really fun and exciting and help take ‘Star Trek’ into areas that you’ve just never seen before.

‘WandaVision’ helmer Matt Shakman is on board to direct.
A fourth film in the classic sci-fi franchise was already known to be in the pipeline.
In April 2021, Zachary said he believed the cast would be prepared to return for a sequel.
He said: “Honestly, I have no real idea what’s going on with ‘Star Trek’. (But) we all love each other and we all love that experience and I’m sure if it comes back around and we’re all available, I’m sure we’d be happy to jump back on board. No pun intended.”
There is currently no release date for the movie.

Katie McGlynn departs Hollyoaks after brief stint on the soap

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie McGlynn has left ‘Hollyoaks’.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star’s character Becky Quentin was written out of the Channel 4 soap, just months after she joined the cast in June last year.
The 28-year-old actress – who played Sinead Tinker on the rival ITV soap between 2013 and 2020 – admitted she relished the opportunity to take on a “gritty” storyline that has helped to “raise awareness of fake news and conspiracy”.
She began in a lengthy Instagram post: “Becky Quentin, over and out! @HollyoaksOfficial. It’s been an absolute pleasure playing Becky and getting my teeth into something so different and gritty!”
“As an actor, to be able to portray someone that has so much likeness to extremely current global issues from conspiracy theories to anti-vaxxers, coronavirus and sinophobia… I really hope the storyline has helped raise some important issues and helps people see how easy it is for someone to be sucked into this whole world of fake news and conspiracy!”
The former ‘Waterloo Road’ star teased that she has “exciting opportunties” to look forward to.
She continued: “Thank you to the entire cast and crew for being so unbelievably amazing and welcoming me with open arms! I will miss you all, but other exciting opportunities beckon…
“If anyone has been affected by the subjects covered throughout Becky’s time on Oaks, please visit: www.channel4.com/4viewers/help-support/hollyoaks-help-support #hollyoaks #becky #beckyquentin #sinophobia #conspiracytheory #conspiracy #fakenews #channel4.”
Several fans have suggested Katie could be set to reprise her role as Jodie ‘Scout’ Allen on ‘Waterloo Road’.
Meanwhile, Katie previously admitted landing the role of Georgina Clarke in ‘The Syndicate’ saved her career.
She said of the 2021 TV drama: “As soon as I left ‘Corrie’, I didn’t expect to get any work. I thought I’d give it a year. And I didn’t expect the pandemic.
“So when I got the call from my agent about ‘The Syndicate’, I couldn’t believe it was actually happening. I felt so grateful I could work. I counted my blessings.”

Jack Quaid added to Oppenheimer cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Quaid has joined the cast of ‘Oppenheimer’.
The ‘Scream’ star – the son of Hollywood stars Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan – is the latest addition to the all-star cast for Christopher Nolan’s new flick, which will be released in July 2023.
The movie will feature Cillian Murphy in the title role of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist in charge of the Manhattan Project that led to the invention of the atomic bomb.
Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek and Josh Hartnett are also starring in the movie.
The film is based on the award-winning book ‘American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer’ by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin.
Nolan will be producing the movie along with Emma Thomas and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven.
There has been no word on what character Jack will be playing as of yet, but he did take to social media to reveal his excitement to be starring in the film.
The 29-year-old actor tweeted: “Couldn’t be more excited and grateful to be a part of this INSANE project working alongside people I’ve been fanboying over for years. Can’t wait to get started! #Oppenheimer (sic)”
Meanwhile, Cillian recently confessed that playing Oppenheimer felt both “immense” and “terrifying” but explained that he would rather avoid taking on easy acting roles.
The 45-year-old star said: “It does feel immense and it feels terrifying but if I felt it was easy, I wouldn’t be interested. I do get nervous, anxious and insecure, but then you go, ‘F*** it. I’ve been doing it for 25 years and I have done it before. So just keep going.'”

A Quiet Place Part III in the works

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘A Quiet Place Part III’ is officially in the works.
The director John Krasinski confirmed that a third movie in the horror franchise is in development during a Paramount investor day on Tuesday (15.02.22).
The movie is targeting a 2025 release but no director or writer has been announced, although John would appear to be the natural choice after directing both previous films.
The original ‘A Quiet Place’ flick was released in 2018 and proved to be critically and commercially popular. The sequel came out last year and performed strongly at the cinema as one of the first major movies to be released following the coronavirus shutdown.
A spinoff from ‘Pig’ director Michael Sarnoski is set for 2023 and is based on an idea by Krasinski.
The franchise takes place in a world in which planet Earth has been invaded by aliens who are blind and rely on sound in order to track their prey. John starred alongside his wife Emily Blunt in the first installment and had a cameo in the sequel. Their children in the films are played by Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds.
John previously claimed that he put his marriage “on the line” while making the sequel due to the outrageous stunts he was asking Emily to perform.
The 42-year-old star said: “Emily’s [stunt] is so real. I think I put my marriage on the line when I put her in the car. That’s true.
“Like when I was explaining to her on set all the things that were going to happen and I said, ‘You’re going to hit this stunt man, that car is going to come three feet from you and then this bus is actually going to clock at 40 miles an hour,’ her face fell and she went, ‘But not really.’ And I went, ‘No, no, the bus is coming at you at 40 miles.’ That’s a real bus, and that bus hits that car and all that is totally real.”

Gemma Collins clashes with mum over ignorant self-harm comments

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins was at loggerheads with her mum over comments made about her self-harm.
The 41-year-old TV personality opened up about her self-harm in upcoming Channel 4 documentary ‘Gemma Collins: Self-Harm and Me’ and questioned her mother’s approach to her struggles.
Ina teaser for the doc, the former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star told her mum: “I obviously needed some sort of help or support at that time.”
Joan responded: “Which you would have got if you just spoke about it, when you done it, we didn’t want to bring attention to it.”
Gemma called her parents out for their approach and turning a blind eye to what was going on, which Joan justified by being too busy.
Gemma said: “But what’s more important, life being busy or your daughter cutting themselves?”
In the one-hour documentary, Gemma speaks about her troubled past with therapist Mandy Saligari as well as her fiancé, Rami Hawash and meets other people that went through a similar experience to her.
Her mum continued: “You seemed okay; you were always supported. The problem is obviously with you, it wouldn’t have been from home life or… you had everything. You was happy.
“I don’t even know why you did do it. I just thought at the time were you copying someone off the TV.”
The ‘Diva Forever’ star seemed frustrated at her mum’ attitude towards her struggles and reminded her that those who self-harm often “hide it” from their loved ones.
She said: “Well self-harming people hide it. It’s hard for you to deal with I know
“You can laugh because it’s probably your way of coping with it, and it’s fine. I get it, I get it, I understand.”
‘Gemma Collins: Self Harm and Me’ airs tonight (16.02.2022) on Channel 4.

Ainsley Harriott faced racism while working in upscale restaurants in London

OHMYGOSSIP — Ainsley Harriott says he was prevented from getting jobs in posh restaurants before of racist attitudes.
The former ‘Ready Steady Cook’ presenter claimed he always ended up knowing when he wasn’t going to get role because he was black.
The 64-year-old television chef told BBC Radio 4’s ‘The Food Programme’ that “it got to the stage where in five minutes I knew ‘I ain’t gonna get this gig’ due to his skin colour.
The ‘Ainsley’s Good Mood Food’ host boasted having all the necessary skills for the role but still faced barriers.
Ainsley said: “And I was qualified for it, I was certainly up for it, hungry and that’s what you want – someone who is hungry, not just taking it because the money is right.”
Ainsley – who was awarded with an MBE in 2020 and has sold over 2 million cookbooks- was “shocked” to be on the receiving end of bigotry and feels it does nothing to create a well-oiled machine.
He said: “I was a bit shocked if I’m being honest with you, because when you work in a happy environment, you create a happy environment, especially when it’s your chef, your guys and your team, you don’t feel that neglect.”
The veteran food broadcaster – who began his restaurant career in the 70s – found it “really good” when people were upfront with their racism, as opposed to pretending it was something else.
He said: “It was really good that they were able just to tell me straight as opposed to putting a load of nonsense in there or just say “You’re not quite what were looking for.”’
After developing a passion for cooking at five-years-old, he was inspired later in life by meeting Clifford Walker, a fellow Black chef at a French restaurant.
Ainsley said: I’d seen a few Asian cooks but I’d never seen a black chef like that, laughing and joking, and for me that was everything.
“I thought ‘This is where I wanted to work.”’
However, he fell in love with cooking because of the ability to make “people happy”.
Ainsley said: “I started cooking at five, I loved the reaction that my mum got, my dad sometimes too, when they cooked and I saw people’s faces and I thought “This is great, what an easy way to make people happy.”

Tom Holland almost lost teeth while filming Uncharted

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Holland nearly lost his teeth while filming ‘Uncharted’.
The 25-year-old actor plays Nathan Drake in the movie based on the video game series of the same name but said that a ring he had to wear around his neck did damage to his pearly whites during the movie’s fight scenes.
Tom is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column as saying: “We had to get a rubber one made because during the fight scenes it kept whacking me in the teeth.
“Honestly it really hurt. I had to say to the props master, ‘Can you make me a rubber one?’ I’d turn around and punch someone and it would bounce up and crack me right in the teeth. I’m lucky I’ve got teeth.”
The Spider-Man star also explained how he found it difficult playing the “cool guy” in ‘Uncharted’ as he is used to being offered roles as an “outsider”.
Tom told The Hollywood Reporter: “One of the most difficult things about this character was playing ‘the cool guy.’
“Historically, I’ve always sort of played the outsider who doesn’t particularly have many friends and isn’t the cool kid. So Nathan Drake is the complete opposite, and that was something that took me a while to get used to and feel comfortable doing.”
To prepare for the movie – which also stars Mark Wahlberg and Antonio Banderas – Tom trained as a bartender at Chiltern Firehouse in London as he was keen to pick up some “flair tricks” that he could show off when serving drinks in the flick.
He recalled: “I was mainly focused on just learning some really cool flair tricks. I wanted the flair bartenders out there to really understand that I put in the work and learned these cool tricks. So for me, it was mainly just flipping bottles, catching them and all that sort of stuff.”

The couple first got together in 2012 and have been engaged since the following year.
Ex-‘Holby City’ star Laila previously revealed how the duo first crossed paths when she was house-hunting and that their meeting came about by chance.
She said: “It happened by accident. I was shown around Ronnie’s house by his father, who told his son about meeting me.
“Ronnie called the estate agent, a friend of mine, and asked me out via her.
“When she said he was a snooker player, I said, ‘Yeah, but what does he do for a living?’ I’d never heard of him because sport doesn’t interest me at all, although Ronnie’s won me over to snooker.”
The pair never tied the knot despite being engaged for several years and Ronnie previously suggested that the pair were not in a rush to get married.
Speaking in 2019, the 46-year-old sports star said: “We’ve been engaged for a while now, so we know we want to be with each other, I’m sure we will get round to it.
“We’re very casual and laid-back about the whole thing anyway. When it happens, it will happen. I love her, I love her company, I admire her.

The ex ‘Great British Bake Off’ host will discuss a whole host of celebrities – including Sanjeev Bhaskar, Hugh Dennis and Kirstie Allsopp – on the new podcast, ‘My TV Years’, launching next week and produced by the magazine TV Choice.
The 53-year-old comedian told The Daily Star: “Telly plays such a central role in all our lives and that’s why I’m going to be discussing all of this, from reminiscing about old favourites to looking at current TV obsessions, with some of the nation’s favourite TV stars as they tell me about their TV years.”

Sue said: “We resigned, basically because it was not a kind show. They were pointing cameras in the bakers’ faces and making them cry and saying, ‘Tell us about your dead gran.’ So we had very stiff words about how we wanted to proceed. I think we can say that, now we’re out of it, can’t we?”
‘My Favourite Telly Years’ – in partnership with TVChoice – will be launched across streaming platforms from Wednesday 23 Feb, with a new episode released every week.

Denis Villeneuve confirms that Dune sequel will film this summer

OHMYGOSSIP — Denis Villeneuve has confirmed that ‘Dune: Part Two’ will film by the “end of summer”.
The sequel to the filmmaker’s sci-fi epic will be released in 2023, with stars Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson and Zendaya all reprising their roles, and says his experience on the first film has helped during the making of the movie.
Denis told Empire magazine: “I will say it is mostly designed. The thing that helps us right now is that it’s the first time I’ve revisited a universe. So I’m working with the same crew, everybody knows what to do, we know what it will look like.
“The movie will be more challenging, but we know where we are stepping. And the screenplay is written. So I feel confident. Frankly, the only big unknown for me right now is the pandemic.”
‘Dune’ has earned 10 Oscar nominations but some fans were disgruntled by the lack of focus on the villainous Baron Vladimir Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgard), which Denis claims was a result of adapting Frank Herbert’s novel across two films.
The 54-year-old director said: “When you adapt, you have to make bold choices in order for the things to come to life. In the second one, I want to have more flexibility, and it will be possible to go a little bit deeper into some of these details.”
Denis continued: “It’s like a chess game. Some new characters will be introduced in the second part and a decision I made very early on was that this first part would be more about Paul Atreides and the Bene Gesserit, and his experience of being in contact for the first time with a different culture.
“Second part, there will be much more Harkonnen stuff.”
