OHMYGOSSIP — The new ‘EastEnders’ set will finally appear on TV screens this week.
The Elstree set has taken five years to complete and has been hampered by a series of issues over recent times, including the COVID-19 pandemic and spiralling costs.
The old set was built in 1984 and was originally only supposed to have been used for two years.
But the new set – which features all of the iconic ‘EastEnders’ landmarks, including the Arches and Walford East station – opened in January and will appear on TV for the first time this week, according to MailOnline.
The BBC has claimed that the new set “enables improved HD for our audiences and enhanced filming options”.
By contrast, Martin Kemp recently claimed that the old set was “chilling”.
The actor – who played the part of Steve Owen on the soap – recalled being extremely cold and uncomfortable during his time on ‘EastEnders’.
He explained on ‘The One Show’: “I remember really well we were told to chew on a piece of ice. [It was] to get rid of the steam coming out of your mouth [on camera] … the old set was chilling!”
Production manager Rona MckEndrick shared a similar sentiment, admitting that the old set was no longer fit for purpose.
She conceded that the time has come for the show to relocate to a more modern and more comfortable location.
Speaking about the decision to improve the set, Rona shared: “The old one was really not fit for purpose anymore. It was made of wood and plastic!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Cole wanted to “do [his] own thing” with ‘The Ipcress File’.
The 33-year-old actor was determined to try something new and give a different take on his character in the ITV drama series.
He shared: “I saw it as a fantastic opportunity.
“It was just a fantastic opportunity to do something different and I try to avoid as much of Michael Caine’s stuff from before and do my own thing with it.”
The 88-year-old actor played British spy Harry Palmer in the 1965 film, which was based on Len Deighton’s novel ‘The IPCRESS File’.
Joe read the book and watched the movie before he played the part – but he was determined to bring something new to the role.
He told Digital Spy during a webinar about the show’s release: “I had a look at the book. I watched one of the films, but then I quickly realised that I just didn’t want to … I wanted to put my own spin on it and didn’t want to be kind of [copying him],
“When I watched the movie, I started worrying that I was going to start trying to do a Michael Caine impersonation without actually realising I was doing it, because he is so iconic, and because he has such a presence and personality on screen.”
Meanwhile, Joe previously admitted to “getting into trouble” during his younger years, and his off-screen issues nearly derailed his career.
The actor – who is best known for playing John Shelby in ‘Peaky Blinders’ – recalled: “I wasn’t focusing on what I should have been focusing on.
“When you’re a teenager, you’re figuring out your place in the world, and for me, it was in my head that if I didn’t go to university, I was some sort of failure, and that I wouldn’t amount to very much in this life.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Stef Reid hailed Andy Buchanan as an “incredible human” after leaving ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The 37-year-old Paralympian became the seventh celebrity to leave the ITV show over the weekend, after she found herself in the skate-off against Kye Whyte, and Stef has now taken to social media to heap praise on her professional partner.
Alongside a photo of them together, Stef wrote on Twitter: “I will miss this so much! Thank you to everyone for their support and encouragement! And thank you most of all to this incredible human! @AndyBuchananTV #dancingonice (sic)”
Stef also thanked Andy for his support shortly after her exit was confirmed.
She told him at the time: “I can’t thank you enough.”
Despite this, the sport star relished her time on the show.
She shared: “I’ve loved every moment. It’s not something that I ever thought I’d be able to do.”
Prior to that, Stef revealed she felt grateful for the opportunity to appear on ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The Paralympian lost her right foot in a boating accident at the age of 16, and despite having her right leg amputated below the knee, it hasn’t stopped her from following her dreams.
Stef – who appeared on ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ in 2018 – previously said: “It’s been amazing. I’m so fortunate that my whole life, I have had access and funds … prosthetic technology is amazing.
“I mean, I have woken up every day and always felt like I could do anything I wanted to do because I have legs to do it. I have a walking leg, a running leg, a high-heel leg, I have a skating leg.
“I know that’s not everyone’s scenario around the world. That, I feel really grateful for.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Loose Women’ panel enjoy “messy” nights out together.
Jane Moore loves socialising with her fellow panellists, and insists they get along great, despite their on-screen disagreements.
The 59-year-old journalist – who helped launch the show in 1999, before rejoining the panel in 2013 – shared: “A lot of the time, it’s organic. Someone might say, ‘What are you doing now? Let’s go out,’ and then it becomes a really messy evening.
“Or we might be really sensible and just go for a quick drink. But we’ve had some really fun nights out.”
Recently, “torrential rain” almost spoiled their plans for a big night out.
Jane explained that some of her glamorous-looking co-hosts had their plans derailed by the bad weather.
She said: “Christine [Lampard] came and she arrived looking pristine, as did Frankie Bridge – and then it was torrential rain.”
However, the panellists are always determined to have a great time together.
She told OK!: “We had a great one recently on a cinema boat around Paddington Basin.”
A host of big names have appeared on the panel over the years, and Jane revealed she’d love to see Victoria Beckham join them one day.
The veteran journalist has known the former Spice Girl for years and she’s a huge fan of Victoria, 47.
She said: “I’ve met her many times and she’s a real woman’s woman.”
Meanwhile, Frankie Bridge previously admitted to being “nervous” when she first joined the show.
The former pop star had heard rumours about various feuds, but she’s not seen any evidence of it.
She shared: “My friends asked me about [the rumoured rows]. I genuinely don’t experience it or see it. When I first went on the show, I was nervous because I’ve read about all these feuds.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Hammond has broken down in tears over her weight battle.
The 47-year-old TV star – who shares the Friday presenting slot of ‘This Morning’ with Dermot O’Leary in place of regular hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby – was moved when a viewer had called in on Friday’s (04.03.2022) episode during the ‘Dear Deidre’ segment to ask for advice on her teenager daughter’s eating disorder.
Speaking live on ‘This Morning’, Alison said: “Can I just say something? Obviously, I’ve had – I’m getting upset – I’ve had obesity my whole life. And what it is, is your regulation system is out of whack. So obviously, you can’t control wanting to eat all the time!”
The former ‘Big Brother’ star started to cry when she explained that obesity is a “disease”, adding that she feels “looked down upon” by others as she was comforted by co-host Dermot, 48, and agony aunt Deidre Sanders., 76.
Alison explained: “I think what a lot of people don’t realise, is obesity is a disease. You can’t help wanting to eat all the time. Sorry, I get – sorry. Because I think people look down at people just because they’re so big and they can’t actually help it if they’ve got a disease. When you’re in it, it’s difficult. You want to eat and you want all the bad things and you know you don’t look right. Sorry, it touched me.”
Former Sun columnist Deidre then stepped in and asked what advice she would give to the caller’s teenage daughter and Alison called for the NHS to recognise that obesity is a disorder which needs as much attention as anorexia.
She said: “She needs help, I think. NHS needs to see it as a disease. People help people who are anorexic but they don’t help people who are overweight and that’s why so many people turn to surgery and that, we don’t know what to do. It’s really affected me.
It’s so hard. People don’t realise.”

The former ‘Hollyoaks’ star thinks that “building other women up” is vital in the build up to International Women’s Day.
While promoting the new Lovehoney Lingerie on her Instagram, the 40-year-old influencer said: “Never underestimate the power of a woman on a mission.
Building other women up and supporting each other is the most incredible thing, just watch us soar.”
Sarah has joined up with the sex toy brand to become one of the 50 women on Lovehoney’s Wall of Female Empowerment, which has been created to mark the worldwide celebration of women on March 8th.
Fans gushed about the picture – which shows Sarah sporting the brand’s Boudoir Belle cherry push-up basque set – with one saying ‘Wowza’ and another commenting: “One beautiful woman.”
For Sarah, she feels empowered by “inspiring other people” and combatted censorship by “living in [her] truth and owning [her] power” after she left the Channel 4 soap to continue posting sexy snaps on her OnlyFans page.
Earlier this year, Sarah was given the ultimatum of either quitting OnlyFans or giving up her long-running role as Mandy Richardson and opted to keep posting on the subscription-based app.

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia and Alex Bowen are keeping their baby’s sex a “secret”.
The 28-year-old reality TV star and her husband Alex Bowen, 30 – who met on ITV2 dating show ‘Love Island’ in 2016 – are expecting their first child together, but the pair have decided not to find out if they are going to have a boy or a girl because the moment is one of the few “genuine surprises” in life.
Olivia said: “We’re keeping the sex a secret. It’s a nice surprise.
“We just feel that there aren’t many genuine surprises in life so to leave that right to the last minute will be really exciting.”
The couple are so grateful to be expecting, particularly as they were only trying for a couple of months before finding out they were pregnant.
She added to new! magazine: “We were actually only trying for a couple of months, so we are so grateful, so lucky to be able to conceive that quickly.
“I’m still internally screaming about having a baby. It will be such a change in our lives.”
Last month, Olivia admitted dealing with her anxiety during her pregnancy had been difficult.
She said: “My anxiety comes and goes. I think it’s hard because you do get the hormones, and you’re trying to work out what’s real and what’s not.

The Russian professional ballroom dancer – who migrated from his home country to the UK back in 2011 and has since married ‘Countdown’ star Rachel Riley – took to social media yesterday (03.03.2022) to encourage solidarity by telling fans to unite and make a difference through art.
Pasha wrote on Instagram: “The current situation in Ukraine hits too close to home for the both of us as Russian nationals.
“Our passport may say one thing but our hearts are with our family, friends and everyone still in Ukraine that are fighting for freedom and lives.
“It only feels right that our show – ‘Rise Up With the Arts’, along with 3 charities that we are already supporting, will now focus on donating funds raised to the Save The Children charity that helps children and young people affected by this terrible conflict.
“They say it takes a village to rise a child but this time it will take the whole world to make the change happen and end this madness. Let’s make art not war!”
Pasha, 42, – who created his new show alongside dance partner Anya Garnis in the wake of the pandemic after theatres closed down for months on end – has focused on raising money for the Save The Children charity in hopes of helping the people of Ukraine.
The pair were applauded for their efforts which were hailed a “beautiful gesture” to help raise money for the people of Ukraine amid the humanitarian crisis.
One person wrote: “I know many of your people don’t want this war either. It’s so sad and this is an amazing gesture! It shows the Ukrainian people, that not everyone who is Russian wants this either. This is a truly beautiful gesture.”
Another commented: “Beautiful words Pasha it is. Its truly sad and heartbreaking and you and no one else want this,”
A third added: “Sending so much love to the Russians who are every bit as devastated as I am that this has been done. There is no argument with Russians. We know this unjustifiable attack is not in your name. Perfectly said Pasha. Take care.”

The 31-year-old reality star ended her whirlwind romance with marketing manager Jack Padgett last summer before getting together with Lorri Haines earlier this year and has “never thought about” marriage until now.

After police launched a manhunt, Collins was arrested and sentenced to 20 years behind bars with no chance of parole and remains behind bars at Category A HMP Woodhill in Milton Keynes, Bucks.

OHMYGOSSIP — Nikita Kuzmin is “incredibly scared” about the safety of his grandmother, who is in Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional was born and raised in the country, and he has told how he fears for his gran, who has been trying to reassure him on calls by pretending gun shots and explosions in the background are films on her TV.
He said: “Luckily, we still have a connection to her, so we are video calling her all the time.
“She’s actually trying to protect us from being scared. Every time we can hear gun shots or explosions in the background, she’s always telling us that it’s a movie that she’s put on TV and only afterwards, a couple of hours later, she’s confessing that actually it’s a real bomb, real gun shots – it’s incredibly scary.”
Nikita – who partnered TikTok star Tilly Ramsay in last year’s series of the BBC Latin and ballroom show – has pleaded with the UK government to “help” Ukraine.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, he said: “Please help us cover the sky … we need help!”
In a message to UK hospitals, he said: “Please help the Ukrainian children in need, call the embassy.”
And his message to the people of the UK was: “Don’t stay silent.”
The 24-year-old pro dancer’s pleas come after he took to social media earlier this week to thank fans for their donations to the Ukrainian people.
He wrote on Instagram: “Thanks to so many of you who donated! This is why we have a platform like this.
“To help and spread awareness about what’s really going on. Please keep donating if you have the chance.
“Keep sharing information about the severity of the INVASION so we can get more help.
“Don’t stay silent – talk, discuss, post, donate, give accommodation, help with transport.
“This is not only Ukraine’s fight. This is the whole world. It’s a fight for peace, for freedom. (sic)”
He also said: “The whole world knows the truth. The world hears. The whole world supports us and we feel it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlett Moffatt is gearing up to front new BBC One show ‘Driving School’.
The former ‘Gogglebox’ star turned TV presenter will be getting behind the wheel in the docusoap series to inspire the nation to ditch their L-plates, and it’s thought the Queen of the Jungle is the ideal choice to front the show after she failed her test 13 times.
Scarlett, 31, is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column as saying: “I’m over the moon to be part of such an exciting series on BBC One,
“Having failed my driving test 13 times I know exactly how these learners feel and how much strain it puts on the person teaching you – no one will get in a car with me anymore!
“I hope that my new show will give us all the confidence to finally rip up those L-plates and hit the road.”
It comes after BBC show ‘Driving School’ aired in 1997, and followed a group of learner drivers around Bristol and South Wales. Maureen Rees became a household name after starring in the show, after failing her test five times and spending more than £5,000 on lessons.
She eventually passed on her seventh attempt after giving up on manual motors and switching to an automatic car.
Scarlett’s version of the new 10-part series will follow around drivers who have been unable to get any professional lessons due to the Covid-19 restrictions, and so they are relying on being taught by their friends and family instead.
They will take part in an intensive driving course, and then aim to pass their test in five days.

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Compston says there is “definitely scope” for another ‘Line of Duty’ series.
The 37-year-old actor – who plays DI Steve Arnott on the BBC show – admitted he “thinks” there could be another series, but he and his co-stars are waiting to see if creator Jed Mercurio is up for it.
He said: “We think so. I mean, look, I’m delighted with the response, in terms of people are now really intrigued to see if there is another one, but there’s nothing changed for us in terms of where we’re at after we finish a series.
“We always take, like, a year between at least … before we … the dust settles and Jed figures out whether there’s a story to tell.
“So I’m delighted that people are so excited and so desperate to find out but, as I say, this is what we’ve done after every series so we’ll just wait and see what he thinks.”
Martin admits it “wouldn’t be nice to go out” on the last series because shooting took place amid the coronavirus pandemic, when the stars had to socially distance and they weren’t able to go for nights out in between filming days.
Speaking on ‘The Chris Moyles Show’ on Radio X, he added: “Look, there’s no way to … it’s not an excuse to kind of go and do a show just because you want a night out or whatever, but it’s such a sociable show in terms of us, pals, and going out with crew and all that stuff.
“And we filmed the last one during COVID and all that, and it was a tough shoot and kind of miserable, because we were one of the first jobs back and it was literally on set, nowhere near anybody, and then back to your flat.
“We couldn’t even mix with each other. So I think for us, it wouldn’t be nice to go out that way, we’d like to do one more with everybody and have it … but again that’s no reason to go …”
