Peaky Blinders star Jack Parr has joined Emmerdale

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Parr is to join the cast of ‘Emmerdale.’
The ‘Peaky Blinders’ actor – who starred as Dougie Bill in the final series of the hit gangster series – has reportedly signed up to play the “dramatic” role of Jordan in the Yorkshire-based soap, with his scenes slated to air in the coming weeks.
A source told The Sun Newspaper’s TV Biz Column: “Jordan will arrive in the village in a shocking way and end up pitting neighbour against neighbour. It’s going to be a dramatic storyline and take on a serious issue.”
Jack later seemed to confirm the news by posting a screenshot of the original report to his Twitter page and received a slew of congratulatory messages in response.
Meanwhile, former ‘Emmerdale’ actor Jon-Paul Bell – who stars alongside Jack as Sgt. John Burgin in upcoming thriller series ‘Masters of the Air’ – made his debut in fellow ITV soap ‘Coronation Street’ on Easter Monday (18.04.22), taking on the role of unethical paralegal Ben Chancellor after being summoned by established character Imran Habeeb to assist in his ongoing custody battle against Abi Franklin.
Jack previously opened up about how his acting career started by accident and was inspired to take up a career in performing when a film was shot near his home and ended up quitting his degree to pursue acting roles.
He said: “I was just about to head to Leeds to do a degree in Sports Science. It was the summer in between college and university so I was enjoying myself and relaxing. Out of nowhere a huge budget movie came and filmed on an estate I lived right next to in the middle of nowhere. The word buzzed around the villages and so me and a couple of mates went down to our local village hall where they were based and asked if they needed extras. They did and assigned us to be German Soldiers for around 5 days. I had an absolute blast, met loads of people, saw how movies worked. I wanted to be back on a movie set so bad I couldn’t handle it. I ended up quitting Sports Science and pursuing a career in acting.”

Heartstopper’s Kit Connor ‘honoured’ to represent bisexuality in new TV role

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Heartstopper’ star Kit Connor is ” honoured” to be representing bisexuality in his new role.
The 18-year-old actor plays bisexual school boy Nicholas Nelson the upcoming Netflix drama – which is adapted from Alice Oseman’s novel of the same name – and believes “bisexuality has never been explored to this extent.”
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, he said: “I think male bisexuality is even less represented [than female or non-binary]. And I think that’s really special, going into great detail about his journey as a character and his mental struggle.
“It’s not just that confusion of ‘oh, maybe I like a boy? Maybe this isn’t what I thought it was’ and then there’s that layer of ‘oh, do I like boys? Do I like girls? How do I feel?’. There’s just that added layer of mental turmoil and confusion and conflict.
The series follows the story of two lovestruck teenage boys who have to navigate through boarding school as they struggle with their sexuality.
Kit added: “In terms of a story, it creates a really layered complex character and the journey that he goes through. You’ve got sort of similar things going on through shows like ‘Sex Education’, but never really to this extent. It’s a real honour to be able to play Nick because it’s such an under represented kind of character, really.”
Writer Alice was also keen to explore the concept of bisexuality in her work as she claimed that there was “little” representation of the sexual preference in the arts.
She said: “I think even back when I was writing the comics, I was very aware that there was little bisexual representation anywhere, really, I guess.” ’Heartstopper’ celebrates all kinds of different queer experiences, and I like to show a variety of experiences and people who are different. So yeah, it was something that I’ve always been thinking about.”
The first series of ‘Heartstopper’ is set to premiere on Netflix this Friday (22.04.22).

Safiyya Vorajee: I took one look at Azaylia and knew it was the day she would die

OHMYGOSSIP — Safiyya Vorajee “took one look” at daughter Azaylia and knew it was her final day.
The 34-year-old influencer welcomed Azaylia back in August 2020 with her reality star ex Ashley Cain, 31, but the tot was diagnosed acute myeloid leukaemia at just eight weeks old and – despite two rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant – passed away in April 2021 at aged eight months.
In an extract from her new book ‘Loving And Losing You obtained by The Sun newspaper’, Safiyya wrote: “It was April 24, 2021, and I took one look at Azaylia and knew that this was the day. She was pale and had a vulnerable look about her. Her breathing had become very slow and shallow. When her breaths finally stopped coming, Ashley and I lay either side of her on the bed, wrapping our arms around her gently. ‘We love you,’ we told her. ‘We love you, Azaylia.”
Safiyya went on to explain that just as their daughter due to “ring the bell” – a symbol in the NHS that a patient has been declared cancer-free – a doctor came to break the news that the leukaemia had returned.
The family launched an appeal to raise funds for pioneering treatment in Singapore and while they vert quickly raised over £1.5 million via a GoFundMe page, the couple were dealt a further blow when the cancer spread and rendered the treatment useless.
She continued: “Within three hours we raised a million pounds. That money meant we were able to arrange for the treatment in Singapore. But while I was organising the trip, we had another devastating blow — Azaylia’s cancer had spiked out of control and the Singapore treatment could no longer help her. A CT and ultrasound scan had shown that Azaylia had tumours in her brain, her kidneys, her liver and her spleen.”
Just two weeks later, Azaylia had passed away from the disease and Safiyya has claimed that since then, she and her footballer ex – who separated less than a year after the tragedy – are now in a “different kind of survival mode” but have used the money that would have gone on the baby’s treatment to set up The Azaylia Foundation to help other families.
She wrote: “We were in a different kind of survival mode now. When I finally pulled myself out of bed, I could barely get showered and dressed. We didn’t know what to do or how to cope, and we stayed in the house together, existing as best we could.”
“Our aim was not only to help individual children reach their life-saving goals, but to invest in cancer research and innovative treatments to revolutionise care and treatment options for children fighting cancer in the UK.”

Chris Tarrant admits spending first decade of TV career drunk

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Tarrant spent the first 10 years of TV career drunk.
The 71-year-old TV star landed his breakthrough presenting role on ‘ATV Today’ but confessed in his new memoir ‘It’s Not a Proper Job’ that he started boozing on the first day of work after he was “shown the ropes” by late reporter John Swallow.
The former ‘Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?’ host explained how his new boss had taken him to the local pub as soon as he started first thing in the morning.
Chris wrote: “On the day I began, I met a lovely guy called John Swallow. His idea of showing me the ropes was to go to The Crown pub.
“It was just after half 10 and my new boss was pouring pints down my neck.
“This became the normal pattern for most of the next 10 years. We would take what we always referred to as the ‘livener’, then start our day.
“We would almost certainly have a couple more at lunchtime and then there was the Green Room – open during transmission.”
Back in 2018, the ‘Tiswas’ presenter was slapped with a 12-month driving ban and fined £6,000 after he was caught drink driving following a lunchtime pub visit.
The TV presenter admitted to getting behind the wheel of his Mercedes after drinking at the Bladebone Inn to drive to his home in Berkshire just over a mile away.
It was reported that he has been there since 12:30pm downing brandy and port to a point that he could no longer walk straight and stumbled on his way out.
Reflecting on his actions at the time, he told The Mirror back in 2019: “I was silly and I have learned my lesson.
“It’s the small things I miss. I can’t just pop down the shops, and we are right in the sticks.”

Nia DaCosta will direct The Water Dancer

OHMYGOSSIP — Nia DaCosta is to direct ‘The Water Dancer’.
The 32-year-old filmmaker has been tapped to helm the adaptation of Ta-Nehisi Coates’ best-selling novel.
The movie is backed by MGM and will be produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B and Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Films production company.
‘The Water Dancer’ is set in the pre-Civil War South. It follows Hiram Walker, a man born into slavery who loses his mother as a child and slowly loses all memory of her.
Hiram almost drowns when he crashes a carriage into a river but is saved by a mysterious power he didn’t realise he had and struggles to understand.
Winfrey had named ‘The Water Dancer’ as her first Oprah’s Book Club selection in partnership with Apple.
Nia directed the horror remake ‘Candyman’ last year and has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as she is helming ‘The Marvels’ – the upcoming sequel to the blockbuster ‘Captain Marvel’.
DaCosta also directed the 2018 film ‘Little Woods’ – which starred Tessa Thompson and Lily James.
‘The Marvels’ star Brie Larson praised Nia’s work and suggested that fans can expect a wild ride with her movie.
The ‘Kong: Skull Island’ actress said: “I feel it’s like, I wish I could talk about. I can talk about my feelings around it. I can say that… I can’t say enough about how incredible our director, Nia DaCosta, is and what an honour it was to work with her, what an immense talent she is, how much I just feel like she’s the future.
“And I could also say that, when I read the script for the first time, I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I was like, this is bonkers.”

Liam Neeson willing to return to Star Wars

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Neeson is open to a ‘Star Wars’ return.
The 69-year-old star portrayed Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn in the ‘Star Wars’ prequel trilogy and explained that he would be happy to reprise the part – as long as it was on the big screen rather than in a television spin-off series.
Speaking to ComicBook.com, Liam said: “Oh, I think so, yeah, yeah, yeah, I think so… if it was a film. Yeah, I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to TV, I must admit, I just like the big screen, you know?
“Qui-Gon, I can’t believe it’s 24 years since we made ‘Star Wars: The Phantom Menace’, I just cannot believe where the time has gone. It was a terrific experience, shooting that film in London.”
Liam has also featured in the ‘Batman’ franchise and previously suggested that he would no longer appear in the fantasy genre and would only join franchises if they provided him with a new experience.
Asked if another major fantasy series would appeal to him, the ‘Taken’ star explained: “I’ll be honest with you, no. I’m not really a huge fan of the genre.
“I think it’s Hollywood with all the bells and whistles and the technical achievements and stuff – which I admire – but I have no desire to go into the gym for three hours every day to pump myself up to squeeze into a Velcro suit with a cape.”
Speaking in 2020, Neeson continued: “I admire the actors and I know some of the actors who do it – and do it fantastically. It’s just not my genre, it really isn’t.
“The first ‘Star Wars’, I was in that, that was 22 years ago, and I enjoyed that, because it was novel and that was new. I was acting to tennis balls, which were ultimately going to be little fuzzy creatures and stuff. That was interesting, acting-wise, to try and make that seem real, but that was the last. It’s quite exhausting.”

Robert Pattinson ‘couldn’t remove his Batman costume’

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Pattinson couldn’t take off his costume on the set of ‘The Batman’.
The 35-year-old actor stars as the iconic character in Matt Reeves’ blockbuster, and the filmmaker was such a “perfectionist” that Robert couldn’t remove his costume.
The Hollywood star told SFX magazine: “I guess in some big movies, people can kind of phone it in. On this, there’s a legacy of really, really good movies – there’s never really been a dud, so everyone brings their A game.
“Also the way Matt directs as well, he’s such a perfectionist. But you’re never really off the set from the second you arrive in the morning. It’s not like you can go back to a trailer or anything. Especially me … I couldn’t even get out of the costume!”
The ‘Tenet’ star screen-tested in Val Kilmer’s 1995 ‘Batman Forever’ costume, and he had to be “drained of liquid” as the thick costume made him sweat so much.
Matt previously spilled: “Rob did his first [screen test] by himself and he literally was wearing, I believe, Val Kilmer’s Batsuit.
“Which, by the way, the moment [Pattinson] put it on, that was kind of a crazy moment.”
The ‘Twilight’ star believes it was a combination of the latex-like suit and being “incredibly nervous” that made him sweat so much.
Robert said: “It was crazy. But I remember putting it on and thinking, ‘This is impossible. This is going to be absolutely impossible.
“I mean, wearing a kind of two-inch-thick rubber suit, or latex suit, and being incredibly nervous and full of adrenaline the whole time.
“I remember we did like two takes and people were just saying, ‘What can we do about the sweat?’ They were like, ‘Nothing! Nothing that can be done.’ I had to be drained of liquid.”

Big Brother set for return?

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Big Brother’ is set for a return next year.
Five years after Channel 5 axed the reality TV show, ITV2 is set to bring it back in autumn 2023.
A source told The Sun’s Bizarre TV column: “ITV is the home of big appointment telly. They know better than anyone how to put on big live events.
“They think putting it on ITV2 will open it up to a new audience and legion of younger fans.
“They are really keen on getting the deal done on ‘Big Brother’, and hope to have something firm to announce soon.
“The talks are still at an early, and delicate, stage and the next few weeks will be key.
“It needs the full treatment and they’re confident they are the ones who can return it to its legendary former glory.
“It has millions of fans and is one of the most iconic TV shows of its generation.”
ITV bosses are considering broadcasting the show in the autumn, after the summer season of ‘Love Island’ has aired.
Rylan Clark, 33, is said to be in contention to host the revamped show.
‘Big Brother’ first ran from 2000 to 2010 on Channel 4, before Channel 5 relaunched it in 2011.

Josh Brolin discusses losing Batman role to Ben Affleck

OHMYGOSSIP — Josh Brolin lost out on the role of Batman to Ben Affleck.
The 54-year-old actor revealed he had initially been in discussions to play the Caped Crusader for director Zack Snyder before the filmmaker ultimately chose Affleck for the role in 2016’s ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’.
Speaking on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast, Josh explained: “That was interesting to me. That was [Snyder’s] decision — that wasn’t my decision. That was his decision.
“It would have been the older, more raspy, for lack of a better word. Honestly, that would have been a fun deal, and maybe I’ll do it when I’m 80.”
And Josh revealed he was attracted to the role because he wanted to take a risk.
He said: “Something that is set up to not work at all, or to work flyingly — I like those odds. I like playing with those odds. I’m like, ‘Am I the guy who’s gonna make it all fail?’”
After Affleck, 49, was cast as Batman in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), he went on to play the comic-book character in four movies; ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and ‘Suicide Squad’ in 2016, ‘Justice League’ in 2017 and ‘The Flash’, which is set for release in 2023.
However, despite signing on to direct, produce, co-write, and star in solo movie ‘The Batman’, he later dropped out, with Matt Reeves taking over directing duties and casting Robert Pattinson in the titular role.

Holly Willoughby’s family fears

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby says she could not cope if her marriage broke down.
The 41-year-old TV presenter has been happily married to TV producer Dan Baldwin since 2007 and says he and their three children are her world.
She told The Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine: “If my career tanked tomorrow I know I’d be fine.
“But if something happened with my marriage or my family, that would be the end of my world.”
Holly and Dan recently enjoyed two and a half weeks in northern Italy away from their children, as they worked together on ‘Freeze The Fear’, which Holly hosted and Dan worked on as an executive producer.
She explained: “That was pretty special. Dan and I met through work, we’re in the same business, and apart from loving him I have a lot of respect for him and we work really well together.
“Then we had this time without the kids. We’d sit on the balcony of our hotel room drinking Aperol Spritz and eating pizza.
“It was the longest I’ve ever gone without seeing my children because even when I filmed ‘I’m A Celebrity’ they all flew to Australia after a week to be with me.”
However, Holly admitted not seeing her children for weeks was tough.
She explained: “I was working a week in Italy then flying to London on a Saturday night to film ‘Dancing On Ice’ on a Sunday. I couldn’t go home because of Covid regulations, I had to stick to just two places of filming.
“So Saturday nights, on my own, I cried a lot. Never in front of the kids, but we did a lot of Zooms.
“My mum was with the kids. They were having a wonderful time.”

Kristen Stewart was shocked by the success of Twilight

OHMYGOSSIP — Kristen Stewart never thought a ‘Twilight’ sequel would get made.
The 32-year-old actress shot to global stardom as Bella Swan in the money-spinning film franchise, but she admits she never expected the first film to take off in the way that it did.
She said on the ‘Jess Cagle Podcast’: “I always want to remind people that [the first ‘Twilight’ movie was technically an indie] without diminishing it, or being like ‘it was nothing!’
“We just did not know. And it was kind of like an oddball, slightly marginal teen movie. I didn’t think everyone was going to take to that. I didn’t think we were going to make a sequel.”
Despite the success of the ‘Twilight’ films, Kristen still loves appearing in “smaller” projects.
She explained: “After all the ‘Twilight’ stuff – I’d already been doing sort of sideways, smaller, Sundance-y movies for a long time, and that’s definitely where I love to be. I kept doing that in between and after.
“So it seems like a choice to find some distance [from ‘Twilight’] or some newness. But ‘Twilight’ was the movie that was just out of completely nowhere, I couldn’t believe that. I think I got very lucky.”
Kristen previously admitted that the ‘Twilight’ franchise feels “incredibly far away”.
The actress starred in the movies between 2009 and 2012, and Kristen recently discovered that the films are now available on Netflix.
She said: “I saw that it’s on Netflix, and I was like, ‘Oh, it’s on Netflix,’ like it was on there while I was looking through.
“Dude, it’s weird because it feels incredibly far away and also still not that far away from me and my time in this film. I don’t know, like, on one hand you’re like, ‘Oh, I’m old, my God, I did this five minutes ago, now it’s like ten-year anniversary.’ I’m like, wow, I have to go to my high school anniversary already.”

Amanda Holden won’t tone down racy outfits

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Holden will never tone down her racy outfits.
The 51-year-old ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge vowed to be wilder than ever after turning 50 and revealed she splashed out on sexy outfits such as thigh-high boots and latex dresses to celebrate her milestone birthday last year.
She told The Sun newspaper: “When I hit 50 I invested in a pair of thigh-high boots and I thought, ‘This is how I’m going to live the second half of my life’.
“On my birthday I also did a photoshoot where I was half naked on top of a birthday cake.
“I was never going to suddenly get out the twinset and pearls, unless I wore the twinset and pearls with a miniskirt and those thigh boots.”
And she doesn’t care if other don’t approve of her daring outfits.
She said: “I would never listen to anybody who’s going to try to tell me how to behave or how I should dress.
“I’d say bog off to any man or woman — or they — that say that about me.
“And I don’t know anyone who is not enjoying a ‘full marriage’ within my group of friends, let’s just say that. I don’t get it — I feel very sad for people who think like that, because life should be enjoyable.
“I feel like I’m grabbing life by the balls more than I ever did before.”

Sarah Jayne Dunn rules out acting return

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Jayne Dunn has no plans to return to acting.
The 40-year-old actress was forced to leave Channel 4 soap ‘Hollyoaks’ last year after she refused to quit adult subscription website OnlyFans and Sarah Jayne won’t return to acting unless she receives an “extremely serious” financial offer.
A source told MailOnline: “She’s earning a lot of money from it, she’s earning enough so that she doesn’t have to do any other work. If an opportunity came up like another acting job or something like that, she doesn’t have to do it.
“It would have to be an amazing opportunity that she’d love to do or financially, it would have to be extremely serious because she doesn’t need the income from that stuff any more.
“When she launched OnlyFans, she went into the top 2% pretty much straight away, and she’s maintained that throughout. The interest in her is still just as high as it was when she launched.”
However, Sarah Jayne hasn’t ruled out taking part in a reality TV show such as ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The insider said: “She can basically pick and choose what she does. If something came in, for example her favourite TV show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, of course she’ll do that because she loves the show.
“But if it was other stuff, it’s not really worth it, it’s not going to be enough for her financially for her to not do OnlyFans. She doesn’t need to do anything else really.”

KJ Apa and Isabel May cast in DC’s Wonder Twins movie

OHMYGOSSIP — KJ Apa and Isabel May have been cast in DC’s ‘Wonder Twins’ movie.
The ‘Riverdale’ actor and the ‘1883’ actress will co-star in the upcoming HBO Max film, which is being written and directed by Adam Sztykiel.
KJ and Isabel will star as alien siblings Zan and Jayna, who were first introduced to the DC Universe in Hanna-Barbera’s 1970s ‘The All-New Super Friends Hour’, which saw them team up with Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman and Aquaman to fight for justice.
Zan’s superpower is turning into water while Jayne can transform into animals and they are known for their catchphrase “Wonder Twin power, activate!”
The characters became the butt of jokes but DC has attempted to make them more trendy by including them in episodes of ‘Teen Titans Go!’, ‘Smallville’ and ‘The Flash’.
A plot for the project is yet to be revealed but Adam has a long history with Warner Bros. after collaborating on the movies ‘Due Date’, ‘Spy Guys’ and ‘We’re the Millers’.
Adam has also been working on the movie ‘Black Adam’, which is slated for release this summer, and its star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has told fans that they can expect a “unique” film.
He wrote on Instagram: “Appreciate you guys so much for all the BLACK ADAM support – I think we’re making a movie and creating a universe that’s definitive, unique, bad a** and cool. (sic)”

Mads Mikkelsen: Harrison Ford is a monster of a man

OHMYGOSSIP — Mads Mikkelsen has described Harrison Ford as a “very nice, monster of a man”.
The 56-year-old Danish actor was blown away by how fit the Hollywood legend – who turns 80 in July – did while shooting ‘Indiana Jones 5’.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “Not just as an actor, but physically. I remember the first day we were shooting, it was a night shoot, then we stopped at 5am — and then he got on his mountain bike and went biking for 50 kilometres.
“Harrison is a monster of a man, a very nice monster.”
Elsewhere, Mads – whose role is not known at this time – said it felt like they were making a Steven Spielberg flick, even though he was replaced by James Mangold.
He explained: “It felt like a Spielberg film, though it’s obviously James making it with the same vision.”
Fans can expect a return to Indiana’s roots.
The ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore’ star added: “It just oozed that golden period of serials from the 1940s — and that’s in the fifth film as well.
“They’re going heavily back to the first and second film and getting that original feel, the original Indy, something dense and epic.”
Last summer, filming was delayed after Harrison suffered a shoulder injury.
Spielberg previously called himself “an idiot” for letting Harrison – who plays the titular character in the iconic action-adventure franchise – do his own stunts, and recalled one in 1981’s ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ in particular.
That stunt saw Harrison chased by a huge boulder and Spielberg admitted he was “lucky” to come out of the shoot unscathed.
He said: “There were five shots of the rock from five different angles — each one done separately, each one done twice — so Harrison had to race the rock 10 times.
“He won 10 times — and beat the odds.
“He was lucky — and I was an idiot for letting him try it.”

Nicolas Cage is keen to star in a musical

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicolas Cage wants to star in a musical.
The 58-year-old actor’s latest flick, ‘The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent’, sees him play a fictionalised version of himself in the new meta-action comedy blockbuster, but he’s revealed he’s “curious” to venture into the musical world.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Cage said: “Right now, I’m excited that the comedy is back on the menu. It hasn’t been there for, gosh, 15 years. That’s nice that I may have the opportunity to do more comedy.
“But I’ve never done a musical. That would be something that I would be curious about.”
However, the ‘Con Air’ star mainly just wants to keep making indie dramas.
He added: “I just want to continue on the roots of the indie drama. That’s my true passion, movies like ‘Pig’ or ‘Leaving Las Vegas’ or ‘Joe’. ‘Bringing Out the Dead’ — I saw that recently. I have to say that might be the best movie I ever made.”
Meanwhile, Nic recently revealed his dream role is Jules Verne’s Captain Nemo.
The ‘Moonstruck’ star fancies taking on the character because of their shared “love of the ocean”.
Taking part in a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) recently, he said: “I would like to play Jules Verne’s Captain Nemo because of the character’s love of the ocean I share that with him, or if any of the movie quotes that people holler at him in public annoy him.
“I don’t have a problem with any of the quotes, I’m glad they remember the movie.”
