OHMYGOSSIP — Gino D’Acampo is set to return with brand new cooking show ‘Like Mama Used to Make’
The ITV Chef will be heading to Italy for the six part series that will celebrate the countries matriarchs and explore how they shaped the Italian cuisine.
Gino will be going back to his roots where he will immerse himself in culture as he travels around Naples, Florence and Bologna to explore and sample regional dishes.
Synopsis reads: “Starting in his place of birth, Torre Del Greco in Napoli, where he learnt to cook in the kitchens of his Nonna Flora and Mamma Alba, Gino is going back to his roots to celebrate all the women whose kitchens have fuelled Italy through their incredible food.
“With recipes including Pasta al Genovese, Steak Fiorentine and Tortellini, Gino will have his work cut out to keep up with the women running the kitchens which he visits.”
Gino, 45 said: ”From learning to make pizza at the fingertips of my Nonna Flora, to stirring simmering pots of ragu in my mamma’s kitchen.
“From the first meatballs I rolled with my aunty Clara to the Spaghetti Vongole that I make for my own family. My journey as a chef is all thanks to two generations of women, who without their passion for the food that they fed their families, I would not be where I am.”
Nicola Lloyd, Factual Entertainment commissioner at ITV, said: “This show will see Gino immersed in the culture that fired his passion for cooking, inviting viewers to join him as he celebrates the women who nurture and continue the traditions that make Italian food the centre of family life with all the warmth, humour and wisdom that brings.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack James Ryan feels lucky to be alive after a battle with testicular cancer.
The 26-year-old actor – who is best known for his role as Jacob Hay on ITV soap opera ‘Coronation Street’ – was just 19 when he was diagnosed with the condition, and had surgery to remove his left testicle followed by a course of chemotherapy.
He told The Daily Mirror newspaper: “I was really lucky. The doctors thought I’d literally found the lump within the week that it grew.
“That was why I didn’t need a lot of treatment afterwards. From finding the lump to being on the operating table took just two weeks. They moved so quickly.”
Jack had been at drama school at the time of his health scare and was because he was able to return to his studies just four months after the diagnosis and feels “grateful” he was given a second chance at life.
He added: “Every day I get on set I think: ‘Wow, this could have been so different’.
“I don’t take anything for granted anymore. I did before, but I don’t now – I know how lucky I am.
“When I was diagnosed with cancer, I did think there was a possibility I might not make it. But I did and I’m living my dream. I’m just so glad that things turned out well and I’m grateful that I’m here. I’m loving every second of it.”
During his first stint on ‘Coronation Street’, drug dealer Jacob groomed established character Simon Barlow to become part of his gang, on behalf of drug lord Harvey Gaskell – who was played by former ‘Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps’ star Will Mellor, before returning to the cobbles full-time to strike up a relationship with Faye Windass.

OHMYGOSSIP — Yasmin Finney has joined the cast of ‘Doctor Who’.
The ‘Heartstopper’ actress is overjoyed to have joined the sci-fi show for its 60th anniversary next year and will be playing a character named Rose opposite new Timelord Ncuti Gatwa.
She said: “If anyone would have told eight-year-old Yasmin that one day she’d be part of this iconic show, I would have never in a million years believed them.
“This show has a place in so many people’s hearts, so to be seen as a trans actress by the legend himself Russell, has not only made my year, it’s made my life. I cannot wait to begin this journey and for you all to see how Rose blossoms. Get Ready.”
Producer Russell T. Davies teased Yasmin’s character will be as vital to the show as Billie Piper’s Rose Tyler was when she appeared on the show alongside Doctors Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant.
He said: “Life on Doctor Who gets brighter and wilder, how can there be another Rose?.
“You’ll find out in 2023, but it’s an absolute joy to welcome Yasmin to the Doctor Who set. We all fell in love with her in Heartstopper, one of those shows which changes the world — and now Yasmin can change the Whoniverse!”
Meanwhile, Ncuti recently revealed he was “deeply honoured” to be chosen as Jodie Whittaker’s replacement as the Doctor after being confirmed for the role.
He said: “There aren’t quite the words to describe how I’m feeling.
“A mix of deeply honoured, beyond excited and of course a little bit scared.
“This role and show means so much to so many around the world, including myself, and each one of my incredibly talented predecessors has handled that unique responsibility and privilege with the utmost care.
“I will endeavour my upmost to do the same.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Thomas is set to sign up for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The former ‘Emmerdale’ star – who portrayed Adam Barton in the ITV soap from 2009 to 2018 – is said to already be honing his dance moves ahead of the series later this year.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Adam has got what it takes to win and is already practising his moves. And he’s got a big female fanbase.
“This has been a little while in the making but it’s happening this year.”
Adam – who has son Teddy, seven, and three-year-old daughter Elsie-Rose with his dance teacher wife Caroline Thomas – recently re-joined ‘Waterloo Road’ ahead of the show’s comeback.
The star – the brother of ex-‘Coronation Street’ actor Ryan Thomas and former ‘Love Island’ star Scott Thomas – shot to fame on the BBC school drama portraying Donte Charles from 2006 to 2009.
It was recently revealed Adam’s real-life son Teddy has also joined ‘Waterloo Road’ as his on-screen son, Tommy Charles.
A source said: “Adam could not be more thrilled to be acting alongside Teddy for the first time.
“Teddy auditioned for the part initially but was beaten to the role by another kid.
“However the boy who did get the part has had to pull out of the show, meaning Teddy got the call up.”
A representative for ‘Waterloo Road’ said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances there has been a last minute casting change to the role of Tommy Charles.
“The part will now be played by Teddy Thomas.”
Adam will also star opposite his real-life niece, Scarlett Thomas – Ryan’s daughter with his ex, ‘Coronation Street’ star Tina O’Brien – who will portray his on-screen daughter in the show.

OHMYGOSSIP — Rio Ferdinand is reportedly working on a documentary series about race, mental health and sexuality in football.
The former Manchester United and England star – who now works for BT Sport as a pundit – is said to be working on the new project for Amazon, while the three programmes could be released later in 2022.
As reported by The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column, Rio will interview a number of high profile figures in football for the three documentaries.
A source said: “This is quite a prestige project for Rio and he has spent the best part of a year working with the documentary makers to produce some in-depth television.
“Rio obviously has experience of race within football, but the other two areas he has less experience of.
“But they’re both areas he really wants to understand through making these shows.”
Circle Circle Films are behind the programmes, having previously worked on Amazon’s ‘Rooney’ documentary about Rio’s former Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney.
Meanwhile, the 42-year-old star is no stranger to working on TV projects like this, having previously fronted a string of programmes for the BBC.
In 2017, he helmed ‘Rio Ferdinand: Being Mum And Dad’, which was focused on him adjusting after his wife Rebecca died from breast cancer in 2015.
He also worked on 2020’s ‘Rio And Kate: Becoming A Stepfamily’, looking at how he and his children adapted to a major change in their lives when he married second wife Kate.
Rio and Kate welcomed son Cree into the world in December 2020 and the former footballer – who also has Lorenz, 15, Tate, 13, and Tia, 10, with late wife Rebecca – previously admitted he’s thankful coronavirus restrictions meant he wasn’t out of the house as much as he usually is so has been around the tot all the time.
He said: “He’s great. We’re all delighted and happy. Having a lockdown baby means that you’re there a lot more as a parent. You can’t go out and work as you would do before, which has been great. He’s been a great addition to our family.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sky have confirmed ‘Fantasy Football League’ is returning after 18 years – with new hosts Matt Lucas and Elis James.
The comedians are to front a new version of the programme, which was created and fronted by David Baddiel and Frank Skinner on BBC Two from 1994 to 2004, for a new 16-episode series on Sky Max and NOW.
Matt said: “I loved watching ‘Fantasy Football League’ with Frank, David and Statto and am chuffed to bits to be a part of this new incarnation. I now make a living eating cake and watching football.
“I must be the luckiest man in the world. I also get to share the sofa with Elis, who is not only hilarious but the biggest football geek I’ve ever met. See you next season.”
Elis admits it is a “dream come true” to be co-hosting the programme.
He added: “I couldn’t be more delighted to be bringing back ‘Fantasy Football League’, although Matt’s Arsenal obsession means writing meetings are often derailed by long, wistful chats about Ray Parlour.
“To be presenting a show I used to tape off the telly is a dream come true.
“The ambition is to make a show that’s as loved as the original, and fill it with references to Swansea City without making it unwatchable.”
The programme saw celebrities compete against one another as “managers” of their very own fantasy football dream team.
Guests included the likes of ‘Game of Thrones’ star Sean Bean – who is a big fan of Sheffield United – and TV presenter Dani Behr, who previously dated Manchester United star Ryan Giggs.
Angus Loughran also appeared as the show’s resident statistician, known as Statto.
He wore a dressing gown and pyjamas and provided the guests with facts and figures about their teams.
The set was decorated to look like someone’s living room, with Frank and David sat on one sofa, while their celebrity guests sat on another as they discussed football as well their dream teams.

The former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star took to Instagram to express her love for her newborn baby boy and admitted she and her long-term partner Paul Knightley are in a “baby bubble”, and admitted as a result she will be back on the photo-sharing site “soon”.
She wrote: “My whole world
No words can describe how in love we are with you baby boy. I honestly can’t explain my feelings right now. Mummy loves you more than you could ever imagine.
Currently in our baby bubble, be back soon (sic)”
Sam – who has son Paul Jr, six, and daughter Rosie, four, with her significant other Paul – was inundated with messages of congratulations from her pals and co-stars.
Lydia Bright posted: “The most beautiful baby [heart emoji] and watching Rosie holding your hand in labour”
Ferne McCann wrote: “Oh my goodness. Thus video is everything. This is so so special. He is so gorgeous. I cannot wait to smell cuddle and kiss him (sic)”
Sam took to Instagram in November to reveal the pair were expecting their third child.
Posting an adorable black and white photo of herself with Paul and their two children kissing her bump, she captioned the snap: “Soon to be a family of 5
“We have a spring baby on the way
“We’re so happy and feeling blessed (sic)”
Sam also revealed that she and Paul would not be finding out the gender of the tot, adding: “PS keeping this little one a surprise.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dan Walker bowed out of ‘BBC Breakfast’ in an emotional final show today (17.05.22), which saw his former co-host Louise Minchin make a one-off return.
The 45-year-old TV presenter spent the last 30 minutes of his final show looking back at his best moments, and as he signed off from the programme in a heartfelt speech, Dan thanked the ‘BBC Breakfast’ team and the viewers for their huge support over the years.
Dan – who has quit ‘BBC Breakfast’ after six years to take on a role as the Channel 5 News anchor – said: “I’ve had so many incredible moments working on this programme and wonderful moments this role has given me. There aren’t many jobs where you get a chance to give a voice to people who don’t have a voice, and to tell other people’s stories.
“It’s been a real privilege to sit here and present this programme.
“The other thing I want to say is thank you for tuning in. Thank you for all the comments, the kind messages, and the many lovely words over the years. And thank you for the support in loads of different things, including the dancing.
“I think it’s safe to say that I, and all of us, we never take any of that for granted, the fact people watch this programme and enjoy this programme, and feel it’s a part of their lives.
“I also wanted to thank the team on ‘BBC Breakfast’. Everybody has been up most of the night making this programme, as they do every day, and you are all, genuinely, some of the best people I’ve ever worked with in my career.
“Thank you for all the support and the help and the love and the hard work as well.
“At a time when trust and truth have never been more important, it’s great to work with a team who do everything to make sure that what we do and what we say is fair and accurate. That is so important.”
Dan also had a message for his successor, admitting he hopes whoever it is they will “care” about the show and its viewers.
He added: “I’ve no idea who is going to sit here in the future, who this job is going to go to.
“But I hope they care about the programme, care about the people they work with, and care about the viewers as well.”
Earlier in the episode, Louise – who quit her role as co-host of ‘BBC Breakfast’ in 2021 after appearing on the show for more than 20 years – made a surprise return to the programme’s iconic red sofa to wish her former co-host well.
She said: “It’s very emotional to be here and I know that lots of people watching will be very, very sad that you’re leaving because you have touched the hearts of the nation over the last six years.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kay Mellor has died aged 71.
The ‘Fat Friends’ and ‘The Syndicate’ creator – whose daughter is former ‘Emmerdale’ star Gaynor Faye – passed away on Sunday (15.05.22), her TV production company, Rollem Productions, have confirmed.
A Rollem Productions spokesman said: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely and sudden passing of our beloved friend, mentor and colleague Kay Mellor on Sunday 15 May 2022.
“We have lost a phenomenal talent and a true luminary. We ask that you please respect the privacy of the family and friends at this time.”
As well as Noughties ITV drama ‘Fat Friends’ – which helped to launch the career of James Corden, and featured ‘Gavin and Stacey’ stars Ruth Jones and Alison Steadman, as well as Gaynor – Kay was also known for writing ITV drama series ‘Band of Gold’, and BBC One women’s football series ‘Playing the Field’.
Kay also worked on ‘Coronation Street’, and the screenwriter received an OBE in 2010.
BBC’s chief content officer, Charlotte Moore, is among those who have paid tribute to ‘Children’s Ward’ creator.
She said: “Kay was an outstanding writer and the creative force behind many of the nation’s best-loved television dramas.
“She wrote with such heart, humanity, humour and passion with strong female characters often taking centre stage.
“She will be missed and our thoughts are with her friends and family at this difficult time.”
Sunetra Sarker – who appeared in ‘Playing the Field’ – wrote on Twitter: “Devastated to hear of the passing of one of Britains finest female writers. I admired respected #KayMellor immensely. I remember how comfortable she made me feel when I worked with her, so clever and witty. From the iconic Band of Gold to present day she truly championed women (sic)”
Kay’s daughter Gaynor has also starred in ‘Corrie’ and ‘The Syndicate’, among other shows.

OHMYGOSSIP — Alex Scott is “thrilled” to be back for the second series of ‘The Tournament’.
The former footballer “can’t wait” to return to the daytime game show that sees contestants compete in the “ultimate knockout quiz”, in which eight contestants are knocked out one by one until the champion reveals themselves.
The 37-year-old football pundit said about the renewal of the BBC One series: “I’m thrilled to be hosting a second series of the ‘The Tournament’ for BBC Daytime. I can’t wait to welcome players from all over the UK to join me on the Tournament Run, and to see who has what it takes to become champion in TV’s ultimate knockout quiz.”
QITV – the production company behind the game show, and hits such as ‘QI’ – are “delighted” to be returning for a follow-up season.
Sarah Lloyd, the managing director, said: “We’re delighted to be back on BBC Daytime with the brilliant Alex Scott at the helm of ‘The Tournament’, ensuring that this unique and highly entertaining knockout quiz has all the drama and tension of a penalty shoot-out.”
The show – which is filmed in Glasgow and expected to air later in 2022 – is executive produced by Simon Urwin and its Commissioning Editors are Alex McLeod and Neil McCallum for the BBC.
The former Arsenal WFC right-back recently reflected on her career, and hit out at haters who say she is “ticking a box” in her job as a pundit and presenter because she is black and female.
She said: “I pinch myself when I look at the things I’ve been working on. For all the people who say I’m ticking a box because I’m black and female, there are more people who have stopped me in the street to tell me to keep going and that what I’m doing is great. That gives me the energy to keep going.
“When I was presenting and Christian Eriksen collapsed during the Euros, that was all about being real and honest in that moment. I remember getting stick for saying I’d just texted my mum to tell her I loved her, but that moment had been such a huge reminder to reach out to your loved ones.”
