OHMYGOSSIP — Greg Davies has “smashed up” his flat a number of times when trying to write comedy scenes.
The ‘Inbetweeners’ star – who has written sitcoms such as ‘Man Down’ and ‘The Cleaner’ – finds it tough to put his thoughts down on the page at times, admitting he finds it particularly hard to structure a script.
He said: “I’ve smashed up my flat on numerous occasions – smashed things I care about.
“It’s important for young writers to hear that because when you feel like you’re losing your mind – that’s normal. It’s a madness, writing. I’ve yet to meet someone who likes writing.
“There has to be some order to a script. You have to be incredibly disciplined and my mind ping-pongs all over the place.”
Greg – who previously worked as a teacher – now pens shows with writer and actor Stephen Morrison, and admits it is great to have someone he can “offload to”.
He said: “I now know that I can’t be on my own … it’s dangerous. I always have to have someone I know I can offload to.
“He’s brilliant, too, but having him in the room calms me down and stops me breaking stuff.”
The star still gets surprised when “proper actors”, such as Helena Bonham Carter – who starred in ‘The Cleaner’ – appear in his shows and act out his writing.
And despite admitting he whinges about being in comedy at times, he “loves it all” and is annoyed that he didn’t try to take the plunge earlier in his career.
Speaking at the BBC Comedy Festival in Newcastle, he added: “I was a teacher and miserable as sin until I was 33. Now I love it all.
“I’m a whinging p*** about it sometimes, but deep down I can’t believe I get to do it and the only reason I get to do it was because I started doing it.
“Stop p****** about and do it. I’m angry with myself for not having the courage to do it or having the nerve to ask how to do it earlier.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Adele Roberts wants to marry her partner Kate Holderness after the support she’s given during her cancer battle.
The 43-year-old BBC Radio 1 DJ – who revealed in October she was undergoing treatment for stomach cancer and went on to have a tumour removed – hopes to tie the knot with her girlfriend, whom she described as her “strength”.
Appearing on BBC Radio 5 Live, she told Naga Munchetty: “We’ve just got stronger and closer and it’s made me realise what an incredible human she is.
“She’s been my strength and without her I don’t think I’d be this upbeat. I think it would have really got to me mentally … but every morning I see Kate I just feel blessed to wake up to her every single day.
“She’s pretty much become my carer. She’s gone above and beyond what a relationship should be and she’s been everything to me. She’s helped me dress my stoma. She’s cared for me. She’s been my nurse. She’s been my mentor. She really loves me.
“I’m going to have to marry her. I think I look up to her now. I always knew she was very special. And I knew she was a good person. But now … she is somebody that I look to for inspiration.”
Adele has been undergoing chemotherapy and is also using a stoma bag, which is attached to her abdomen to collect her faeces.
The star admitted she almost blamed herself when she was diagnosed, and she has focused on “moving forward” over the past few months.
She added: “When I first got diagnosed, my initial thought was, ‘Am I going to die?’ and my second thought was, ‘Is it my fault?’.
“I think since the day I got diagnosed, I have been on this treadmill, just trying to move forward, not look backwards…”

OHMYGOSSIP — Gordon Ramsay is set to give up swearing in the kitchen.
The ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ star is famous for his notorious foul mouth in his TV cookery shows, but fellow chef Angela Hartnett claims she has held “frank conversations” with the celebrity chef about things moving in a new direction.
The protégée of Ramsay, who appeared on the ITV cooking show and owns one Michelin star fine dining restaurant Murano, said people would be surprised at how “calm and quiet” kitchens are now.
The 53-year-old star – a judge on BBC One programme ‘Best Home Cook’, alongside Dame Mary Berry and Chris Bavin – told the ‘Out To Lunch’ podcast: “There will always be a bit of tension in the kitchens, in that there’s a sense of urgency, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.
“There’s that adrenaline, and I can snap, but you don’t have to be nasty. You don’t have to be a bully, that’s for sure.
“I probably have said that to Ramsay before. We have had frank conversations about things like that.
“Even he knows life’s not like that anymore for God’s sake. It’s not worth it. It’s not healthy.”
Since joining TikTok in January 2020, ‘Kitchen Nightmares’ star Gordon has amassed more than 30 million followers after his savage roasts of other people’s foods went viral.
In one video, he screamed: “Man, what are you doing to that hotdog?!” after a man is seen pouring molten cheese over it.

OHMYGOSSIP — Joanna Scanlan was once so ill she feared she had AIDS.
The 60-year-old actress – who plays Ma Larkin in ‘The Darling Buds of May’ reboot ‘The Larkins’ – has reflected on her health struggles, going back to her late 20s when she was battling chronic fatigue syndrome and dealing with a stressful job.
Speaking on the ‘My Time Capsule’ podcast, she said: “It was just a complete neurological issue, like, ‘I can’t carry on’.
“I had this collapse, and kind of stopped work for a year. I felt very very mentally unwell. I had fantasies almost that … I thought I had AIDS.
“One part of me was certain I had AIDS, and the other part knew it was a manifestation of some kind of … let’s call it sexual guilt.”
Joanna went onto land a breakthrough role as Terri Coverley in political comedy ‘The Thick of It’, and starred in all four series from 2005 to 2012.
She can now be seen as Ma in ‘The Larkins’, and she’ll be reprising her role alongside Bradley Walsh (Pop Larkin) in a second series of the ITV comedy.
After just one series portraying Mariette Charlton – who was played by Catherine Zeta-Jones in the original show – Sabrina Bartlett will be replaced by Joelle Rae as the eldest Larkin daughter.
A new family, the Jerebohms, are set to be introduced and soon come to blows with the Larkins.
‘Taskmaster’ star Morgana Robinson is set to play the mother, Pinkie, while ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ actor Hector Bateman-Harden will portray her son Gilbert and Lucy Allix is her daughter Blanche.
Just like the 2021 series, season two will also be a six-parter, and Andy De Emmony will direct once again with filming set to take place this summer.

The musical adventure will feature the world’s favourite pups and will return with 17 dates in the UK, starting in Aberdeen on July 26.

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Keegan is set to star in new BBC period drama ‘Ten Pound Poms’.
The ‘Our Girl’ actress is said to have flown to Australia to shoot the new six-part series, which will tell the story of a group of British migrants who swap post-war Britain for Australia in the mid-1950s.
A friend of Michelle’s told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “Michelle has always had one big dream, which is appearing in a period drama and ‘Ten Pound Poms’ will let her dip her toe in those past times.”
The project will see Michelle once again team up with writer Danny Brocklehurst, who worked with the star on ‘Ordinary Lies’ – her first TV drama after she departed ‘Coronation Street’ in 2014 – and Sky comedy ‘Brassic’, in which she plays Erin Croft.
Danny has told how the show asks questions about “success and failure, identity, parenthood and belonging”.
He explained: “It is a big, bold character piece about what it means to start again, to be an outsider in a new land. It asks questions about success and failure, identity, parenthood and belonging.
“The assisted migration programme is a little-known part of British and Australian history but offers endless stories about the people who travelled to the other side of the world in search of a better life.”
From 1945 to 1972 more than a million UK migrants relocated to Australia to help populate the country, through a scheme devised by the Australian and British governments, and they became known as the Ten Pound Poms.

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Whitehouse lives in fear Sir David Jason will turn up to watch his ‘Only Fools and Horses’ musical.
The comic, 64, who plays Grandad in the show, thinks the cast wouldn’t be able to perform if they heard the Del Boy star, 82, was in the audience.
And he is convinced fans would cause a “riot” if the actor was there, due to the show being filled with fanatics of writer John Sullivan’s BBC sitcom.
Whitehouse told ‘The Jason Manford Show’ podcast: “That’s not what you want, is it? Can you imagine if David Jason turned up?
“If David Jason turned up there would be a riot I think. I think the audience would go crazy.”
Whitehouse co-wrote the Theatre Royal Haymarket production with Jim Sullivan, son of the TV show’s late creator John, who died aged 64 in 2011 after a six-week battle with viral pneumonia.
He added: “I honestly think if he turned up we wouldn’t be able to do the show.”
Paul said the cast felt pressure when the late John Challis, who played Boycie on ‘Only Fools’, came to see the musical.
Challis, 79, died in his sleep from cancer in September 2021.
Whitehouse also joked the English language-only West End version does not go down well with some foreign visitors.
He joked: “You do see the odd person sitting in total silence and you think ‘German?’ – ‘What is this lovely, jubbly?’ ”
‘Only Fools’ has a huge following globally, especially in Serbia, where the Del Boy and Boycie characters are worshipped.
The musical was one of the most popular shows in London before the pandemic closed theatres in March 2020, and received a raft of five stars reviews when it opened.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant and Dec have confirmed ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ is set to return to Australia.
The Geordie duo – who have fronted the show since its launch in 2002 – revealed the plan is for the ITV show to head back Down Under later this year after the previous two series took place at Gwrych Castle in north Wales.
Speaking on Heart radio on Thursday morning (26.05.22), Ant McPartlin told hosts Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston: “The plan is we’re going back to Australia.
“It’s got to go back to hits spiritual home. Everyone wants to see a bit of sunshine at that time of year on the telly.”
The show was relocated during the pandemic due to strict COVID-19 travel restrictions between the UK and Australia.
In December last year, Ant and his co-star Dec Donnelly spoke about wanting to go back to Australia, and joked they can “torment” the campmates more Down Under.
Ant said: “I think we would like to return to Australia.
“We had a great time for two years in Wales – we were made to feel really welcome and at home – but its proper home is Australia, so we’d like to get back there for next year if we can.”
Dec added: “We can torment them more in Australia.
“It’s harder conditions outside and there are all sorts of creepy crawlies in the camp, so it’s harder in Australia, definitely.”
Meanwhile, there are plans for a spin-off ‘I’m A Celebrity’ all-stars series to be filmed in South Africa at the Kruger National Park later this year, with plans to air the show in 2023.
A source previously said: “Fans have been crying out for a Best Of series for years, and their prayers are being answered.
“The normal show will be filmed in Australia as planned, unless COVID makes it impossible again. The South African project is in no way a back-up, it’s a completely different series.
“It will see all of the iconic names who have made the show so popular over the years return to the campfire and battle it out to be crowned the Best Of champion.
“There are so many to choose from and they’re sounding out the most talked-about ones now.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Claudia Winkleman is to host a new psychological game show.
The 50-year-old star – who is known for fronting ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ alongside Tess Daly – will soon be heading to the Scottish Highlands to present ‘The Traitors’, a new show based on a Dutch format which will see players complete physical and mental missions for a chance to win up to £120,000.
However, Claudia will choose a small number of contestants to become ‘The Traitors’ – who unbeknownst to the others, who will be referred to as ‘The Faithful ‘- as they “murder” a teammate every night but face eviction if caught out the next day.
In a statement, Claudia said: “I’m obsessed by psychological games and I couldn’t stop watching the Dutch version of the show. The fact that the BBC version is set in a castle in Scotland and the producers want me to wear tweed meant I was all in.”
At the end of the game the cash prize will only be won if the remaining contestants are all on team Faithful, but if a Traitor has managed to reach the final of the game, they alone will win the cash and the others will leave with nothing.
While there is no air date for the series just yet, bosses claimed that Claudia is the “perfect” person to front such a “dramatic” game show.
Mike Cotton, deputy creative director of Studio Lambert, added: “The series is a nail-biting psychological adventure game and Claudia is a huge fan of the format and is the perfect puppet master to oversee this dramatic game set in the heart of the Scottish Highlands.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Kay is reportedly planning a return to stand-up in 2023.
The 48-year-old star is said to be poised for a comeback with a run of live shows – his first in 14 years – across the UK, after he had to cancel a 100-gig nationwide tour in 2018.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “He has lined up huge venues across the country including in Manchester, London and Birmingham and is hoping to announce it in September.
“Peter has not performed a live stand-up set on a big stage in well over a decade now but he could not be more ready to get back out there.”
The ‘Car Share’ creator – famed for his hit TV shows including ‘Phoenix Nights’ and ‘Max and Paddy’s Road To Nowhere’ – is set to perform at venues like Manchester AO Arena and The O2 in London.
Four years ago, he axed plans for a huge sell-out tour as he needed to step back and focus on his family.
He said in a statement at the time: “IDue to unforeseen family circumstances I deeply regret I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects.
“My sincerest apologies. This decision has not been taken lightly and I’m sure you’ll understand my family must always come first.”
In 2020, he was forced to postpone his much-anticipated Dance For Life comeback events due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Announcing the news, he said: “Obviously this is disappointing news but well and truly justified given the circumstances.
“We’ll get through this, together and then we’ll all have a great big dance for life. Stay safe and look after yourselves and the people around you.”
He appeared at the rescheduled events last month, and in 2021 he was part of two charity Q and A shows in Manchester for Laura Nuttall, who has brain cancer.

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer has reportedly quit ‘The Wall’.
The 44-year-old actor – who previously revealed he would be leaving his role as Mick Carter on ‘EastEnders’ – is now set to call time on another BBC project four years after penning an exclusive deal with the broadcaster.
Asked if he would be returning to the Beeb’s game show for another, he told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “No.”
The report added that the programme would continue without Danny, while the BBC didn’t confirm future plans but noted its roster of game shows still on air.
A spokesman said: “Whilst ‘The Wall’ is off air, fans can stream their favourite episodes on iPlayer plus there are plenty of other great quiz and game shows currently airing on Saturday nights on BBC One including ‘The Weakest Link’, ‘Celebrity Catchpoint’ and ‘Pointless Celebrities’ amongst others.”
Back in February, Danny handed in his notice to ‘EastEnders’ and confirmed plans to leave Albert Square.
Since then, he has lined up new roles fronting a new Netflix quiz show, and a travel project for Channel 4 alongside his daughter Dani.
Meanwhile, it was recently reported he has joined the cast of a four-part Channel 5 drama set to be filmed in Australia and broadcast in 2023.
At the time, a source revealed that upon being offered the role Danny spoke to co-star Charlie Brooks – who plays Janine Butcher on ‘EastEnders’ – as she had had a “great time” working on ‘Lie With Me’ for the broadcaster back in 2021.
The insider added that Channel 5 are “really looking forward” to working with him.
The source said: “Danny is a big name for Channel 5 and they are thrilled that he’s agreed to do the drama. The details are currently being finalised but he will be flying out to Australia later this year to film the four-part series. Everyone is looking forward to having him on board.
“It’s a great move by Channel 5 to have him fronting one of their dramas.”
