Love Island bosses take mental health ‘extremely seriously’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ bosses take mental health issues “extremely seriously”.
A spokesperson for the hit TV show made the statement after Jacques O’Neill quit ‘Love Island’ following a bust-up with Adam Collard over partner Paige Thorne, and he subsequently admitted that he “couldn’t cope” in the villa.
ITV insisted that it has “rigorous and extensive checks in place” to asses contestants’ physical and mental health before they enter the villa.
Speaking to Sky News, the spokesperson added: “This is something we take extremely seriously.”
Jacques, 23, recently confessed that he needed to quit the show for his own wellbeing.
He said: “Doing ‘Love Island’ was the worst decision of my life.”
The TV star – who has been diagnosed with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) – also believes he hit rock bottom during his time in the villa.
He said: “I was ready to break down.
“I was feeling so mentally drained, I just wanted to go home and get myself right.
“It broke me and I was already broken. I was crying my eyes out. I couldn’t cope.
“I was literally feeling awful. It was the worst I’d ever felt in my life.”
At one stage, Jacques feared “things could go horribly wrong”.
He continued: “At home you can remove yourself from situations, but in there you had to deal with every situation, and in that moment I took my microphone off, and walked straight through the front doors because I just wanted to get out of that place.”
‘Love Island’ previously came under fire for not doing more to help protect the mental health of contestants.
But earlier this year, ITV announced that the latest group of contestants would receive training on how to avoid micro-aggressions.
Islanders also watched a video featuring contestants from previous series discussing their own experiences of fame.
‘Love Island’ airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
The dating reality show can be seen in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.

Adam Scott joins Madame Web cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Scott has joined the cast of ‘Madame Web’.
The 49-year-old actor has been tapped to star in Sony Pictures’ Marvel movie based on the comic book character of the same name.
Adam joins Dakota Johnson – who will play the lead role – in the flick with Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts and Tahar Rahim also forming the cast. Scott’s part in the film is yet to be revealed.
S.J. Clarkson is directing the movie from a screenplay by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.
In the comics, Madame Web is depicted as an elderly woman connected to a life-support system that resembles a spider’s web. Due to her age and health, Madame Web never actively fought any villains.
Insiders have stressed that the project could become something else and the character has been compared to the superhero Doctor Strange – who is played by Benedict Cumberbatch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Dakota recently explained how she wanted to bring elements of “heart” from the smaller projects she has featured in to the superhero blockbuster.
The 32-year-old star said: “I guess having experience on all tiers of films I can bring maybe some stuff from the little movies to the big movies that I want to see in them, you know? I really love seeing large-scale films that still have heart in them.”
The ‘Fifty Shades’ star revealed that crew members from her films ‘Am I OK?’ and ‘Cha Cha Real Smooth’ will be involved in the movie.
Dakota said: “People from ‘Cha Cha (Real Smooth)’ and some from ‘Am I Okay?’ are coming on to ‘Madame Web’ with me. It’s cool. It’s fun to be able to start creating a real team of people that make movies.”

Leighton Meester and Adam Brody cast in The River Wild reimagining

OHMYGOSSIP — Leighton Meester, Adam Brody and Taran Killam are to star in a reimagining of ‘The River Wild’.
The original 1994 movie was directed by Curtis Hanson and told the story of a family forced to combat a pair of violent criminals on a whitewater rafting trip. Meryl Streep, Kevin Bacon and John C. Reilly all starred.
The new project is being helmed by Ben Ketai and follows siblings (Killam and Meester) – who love but distrust each other as they set off on a rafting trip with a small group including a childhood friend (Brody), who is more dangerous than he seems.
Ogden Gavanski is producing the flick that has been written by Ketai and Mike Nguyen Le.
The film is set to debut on non-theatrical platforms across the world in 2023 from Universal 1440 Entertainment – a production arm of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group.
Glenn Ross, the General Manager and Executive Vice President at Universal 1440 Entertainment, said: “We are excited to announce a thrilling new ‘The River Wild’ story, with fresh characters and a story that brings the universe to new audiences and fans of the original.
“The production features a talented cast, and we think movie lovers will be excited by director Ben Ketai’s modern take on the popular classic film.”
Leighton will appear alongside her husband Adam in the movie and he recalled how she limited the amount of time that he was allowed to spend on Twitter ahead of the US Presidential election in 2020.
He said: “I was on Twitter so much up until the election and I enjoy it, I really do, but it’s very addicting.
“I found myself, as most people, just so p***** off for most of this year and was really happy for about 48 hours after the election and then 48 hours after [that], I was so p***** again. So my wife put a 30-minute time limit on Twitter and my life has changed.”

Lesley Manville embraced lighter role in Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris

OHMYGOSSIP — Lesley Manville enjoyed the “lighter” aspect of her role in ‘Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris’.
The 66-year-old actress stars in the new comedy-drama as Ada Harris, a tough English cleaning lady who becomes obsessed with acquiring a Dior dress and living a glamorous life after her husband is declared dead by the British army, and felt it was the ideal project for her after playing tougher roles.
Lesley told Variety: “It was a very nice contrasting character to play with some of the characters I’ve been playing who were, let’s just say in a kind of blanket way, not as nice as Ada. And I thought it’d be very good for me to be seen doing something that’s a little lighter. And that puts me at the forefront of what is hopefully going to be a major film.”
The Oscar-nominated star said: “All of those reasons, you kind of weigh up the creative potential of a part and what the package looks like. I’m not wishing to sound crude, but the package is an important part of it: the script, the director, who’s going to be on board, who’s going to be distributing it. All of those things are important.
“So it all kind of came together, and was a job that I really wanted to do.”
The movie is based on Paul Gallico’s novel ‘Mrs. ‘Arris Goes to Paris’ and Lesley suggested that she would be interested in featuring in more adaptations if this movie is well received.
She said: “Yeah, I think they would like to do some more of the books. I mean, ‘Mrs. Harris Goes to New York’, ‘Mrs. Harris becomes an MP’. But I think sensibly, they’re gonna say, ‘Well, let’s see how the first one does’. And go from there, which is very logical in film language.
“They’re not going to commit now to doing a film, if we don’t have you know, good reviews and good box office from this one. I mean, that’s just business, isn’t it? But of course I’d be interested.”

Chris Pratt: Harrison Ford scared me off from playing Indiana Jones

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Pratt was scared off from playing Indiana Jones by Harrison Ford.
There had been speculation that Chris could replace Harrison as the iconic character in the upcoming ‘Indiana Jones 5’ but the star shut down the rumours following Ford’s suggestion that the hero will die with him.
Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Chris said: “No, aren’t they doing ‘Indiana Jones’ with Harrison Ford? All I know is once I saw a quote from Harrison Ford and I don’t even know him but it was enough to scare me, that was like, ‘When I die, Indiana Jones dies’. And I’m like, am I gonna get haunted by the ghost of Harrison Ford one day when he dies if I play…?”
Pratt, 43, was referring to a 2019 interview with Ford where he suggested nobody could replace him as Indy.
The 80-year-old star said at the time: “Don’t you get it? I’m Indiana Jones. When I’m gone, he’s gone. It’s easy.”
Harrison is returning as Indy for the new flick – which sees James Mangold take over behind the camera from Steven Spielberg – his co-star Antonio Banderas says it was “so unbelievable” seeing the film icon in character.
The actor recalled: “The first day I arrived, I was in the makeup trailer, and I turned around and there he was in the full Indiana costume with the hat and the whip. Phoebe Waller-Bridge was there with him, too, and it was so cool.
“I still remember the first time I saw ‘Indiana Jones’ in a theatre and the crowd was crazy about it. I thought, ‘This is like going back to the old adventure (movies) in a completely different way.'”

Alfie Moon’s Ford Capri is up for auction

OHMYGOSSIP — Alfie Moon’s 1982 Ford Capri is being put up for auction.
The iconic soap character, played by Shane Richie, is poised to return to Albert Square later this year, and Alfie’s car is now set to go under the hammer.
Richard Greenhalgh, of Classic Car Auctions, said: “This 1982 Ford Capri 2.8 injection (ex-BBC ‘EastEnders’ car) is an early and rare four-speed combination, showing 62,300 miles.
“Its MOT history online goes back to 2006 but mileage unwarranted. It comes with a large history file. The car was purchased by our vendor in 2018 with its early four-speed gearbox, polished alloys, grey check interior, Jan Speed exhaust. It has been four years in its current ownership. MOT until July 2023 issued with no advisories.”
The vehicle featured in ‘EastEnders’ between 2010 and 2016, and it has a guide price of £12,000 to £15,000.
Meanwhile, the BBC announced Alfie’s return to ‘EastEnders’ earlier this month.
The broadcaster confirmed that Shane Richie will reprise his most iconic on-screen character, having first appeared on the soap in 2002.
Shane said at the time: “It’s an absolute honour and privilege to be asked back to my TV home of Albert Square. I’m looking forward to catching up with some old cast mates and meeting some new ones.
“The new exec producer Chris Clenshaw has been instrumental in wanting to bring Alfie Moon back with some wonderful storylines … and who am I to say no?! I can’t wait.”
Chris is similarly excited about Alfie’s return.
He explained: “Shane Richie created one of the most iconic, loveable and most memorable characters in soap, and to welcome him back to Walford is an absolute pleasure. A lot’s happened since Alfie’s been away from the Square but wherever his floral shirts go you can expect fun, frolics and, of course, the odd porky-pie. We’re over the moon to have him home.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lorraine Kelly has returned to work after recovering from COVID-19.
The 62-year-old TV presenter – who was replaced on her chat show last week by former ‘Countdown’ star Carol Vorderman – has thanked “science and the vaccine” for her speedy recovery.
During an on-air discussion with ‘Good Morning Britain’ hosts Ed Balls and Ranvir Singh, Lorraine said: “It was the dreaded COVID. It got me. I thought I’d escaped but it got me. But I’m fine. I’m absolutely fine and it’s good to be back.”
Ed then asked whether Lorraine might have caught the virus during her trip to the Wimbledon tennis tournament.
She replied: “No, do you know what, I don’t actually know what it was. It could have been somebody standing in the queue behind me in the supermarket, you just don’t know. This is the thing, you’ll never be able to find out.
“But I’m fine, thank goodness, and I’m here. Thank God for science and the vaccine.”
Lorraine previously took to Twitter to reveal that she’d tested positive for COVID.

Dame Maureen Lipman signs new Coronation Street contract

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Maureen Lipman has signed up for another year on ‘Coronation Street’.
The ‘Educating Rita’ star has praised her “exceptional” cast mates and insisted she “won’t hear a word against” the long-running ITV soap.
Maureen, 76 – who stars as Evelyn Plummer – told Reader’s Digest: “I won’t hear a word against it. It’s full of quite exceptional actors working with very little rehearsal, very little direction.
“Am I envious of some of my peers? Sometimes, yes. Do I have the right to be? Of course not. Would I like to be in ‘Sex Education’? Yes, of course. Am I sorry I’ve signed up with ‘Corrie’ for another year? No, I’m not.”
Last year, Maurren became the first dame of ‘Coronation Street’, after receiving the honour from the Prince Charles at Windsor Castle.
The veteran star became the first serving actor in the soap’s history to receive a damehood or a knighthood.
Speaking about her wardrobe worries ahead of the big day, Maureen – who joined ‘Coronation Street’ in 2018 – shared: “It’s been a long time coming because I heard about it in 2020 and then I couldn’t collect it. And so the coat you bought becomes like something you don’t want to wear.
“Then it becomes, ‘What the heck do I wear on my head?’, and then in the end I went to ‘Coronation Street’ and I said, ‘Have you got any fascinators in wardrobe?’, and they gave me seven.
“I travelled back from Manchester with seven hats and on Tuesday I had friends round and they said, ‘Wear that, no that, not that.’
“And I completely blew it this morning and changed my mind.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff tested positive for COVID-19 while filming ‘Top Gear’ in Thailand.
The 44-year-old former cricket star was set to enjoy a four-day jaunt in Thailand for a special episode – but his plans were derailed when he was struck down with the virus after 24 hours of filming.
A source said: “Freddie’s trip to Thailand with ‘Top Gear’ ended up as a disaster.”

“He did all the right things and drove himself to his hotel, where he stayed in his room until he tested negative.
“And luckily, his symptoms weren’t too bad. But for Freddie, this was the worst thing that could have happened.
“He was so excited about filming and ended up locked inside his hotel room.
“His absence will be mentioned when the show comes out later this year.”
Freddie’s co-hosts have also been reminding the former sports star about “what he was missing” on their adventure in Thailand.

“Freddie took it all in good humour but Paddy and Chris are going to be ribbing him about this for a long time to come.”

Love Island’s Adam Collard offers advice to ‘confused’ Davide Sanclimenti

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ star Adam Collard has offered Davide Sanclimenti some much-needed advice over the Italian’s crumbling romance with Ekin-Su Culculoglu.
The villa was rocked by drama during movie night as the contestants were played clips of each other’s antics – with Davide and Ekin-Su looking like their budding relationship was on the verge of collapse after they were shown footage of her Casa Amor exploits.
In Monday night’s episode of the ITV2, Davide admits he is “confused” about whether to continue with Ekin-Su, and Adam pulls him for a chat to tell him: “There’s a reason why you keep getting drawn together, why do you choose each other every recoupling, why are you flirting? Because it is good when you see you around the Villa, you and Ekin-Su, you do work and maybe she’s realised in Casa Amor how much you actually meant to her.”
It came after Davide tells the boys: “I’m very confused last night, she didn’t say a word,” referring to Ekin-Su’s flirtatious exchanges with George in the other villa.
He added: “She (didn’t try to talk to me), not last night. She knows that when I don’t want to speak that it’s better not to.”
However, a preview clip for the show revealed Ekin-Su is also fuming in the aftermath of movie night.
She’s seen saying: “I don’t feel any different this morning, I thought I’d sleep on it, and I woke up feeling, ‘You know what, f*** you’.
“Why should I go up to him like a little puppy when nobody has been questioning what he’s done in Casa. I’m done and I mean that.”
The quiz night also had ramifications for another couple – Luca Bish and Gemma Owen, whose relationship also seemed to hit rock bottom in the aftermath of movie night.
Luca was seen getting angry after seeing Gemma have a conversation with Billy in Casa Amor, with the fishmonger raging to the boys: “F*****g muggy. I got made out to be like a f****** p****.
“Just bring me a f*****g bird now. Trust me when I say, if she wants to play, I will f*****g explode. Mate, can’t be with someone like that. I’m sorry.”
‘Love Island’ airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.

Woody Harrelson to star in Sailing

OHMYGOSSIP — Woody Harrelson is in talks to star in musical comedy ‘Sailing’.
The 60-year-old actor is set to take on a leading role in Lionsgate’s upcoming yacht rock musical, which will follow a group of 1970s musicians discovering the soft rock music genre, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Chris D’Arienzo, creator of the Broadway musical ‘Rock of Ages’ has created the story, while Jeremy Plager, will develop and produce with MegaMix (Jonathan Levine and Gillian Bohrer) and Harrelson.
Lionsgate president of production Erin Westerman said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Jeremy, Jonathan, Gillian, Chris, and Woody, and we’re confident that it will not only have a phenomenal soundtrack, but it will also put you in a summertime mood.”
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Woody is to star in ‘The Entertainment System is Down’, which will see him reunite with director Ruben Ostlund following the pair’s collaboration on the movie ‘Triangle of Sadness’.
Speaking at a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival, following the premiere of ‘Triangle of Sadness’, Woody said: “Ruben is a maestro so my interest was to work with Ruben. I’m going to be in his next film whether he wants it or not.”
Ostlund has been developing the film for the past couple of years by collecting anecdotes from people across the world – but the actual script is still in an early stage.
‘The Entertainment System is Down’ will be a comedy with a sociological edge. The project is set onboard a long-haul flight and is inspired by Aldous Huxley’s dystopian novel ‘Brave New World’.
Ostlund also suggested what part Woody will be playing in the upcoming film.
The director said: “(Woody) is going to play a captain on an airplane.”
Ostlund has explained that the movie would be like an experimental lab looking at how people react to different “air rages” among passengers which he said are “more frequent when economy passengers board through business class”.
He told Variety: “In a world controlled by advanced entertainment systems, you have people stuck on a long flight with no screens to look at. I’m curious to see if people will start talking to each other or what will happen.”

Dustin Lance Black struggles to move on from film projects

OHMYGOSSIP — Dustin Lance Black can’t “just move on” from film projects.
The 48-year-old director – who won an Academy Award for writing the screenplay to ‘Milk’ back in 2009 and has gone on to be at the helm of several other acclaimed movies since – most recently directed religious drama series ‘Under the Banner of Heaven’ and admitted that heoften has to “put himself back together” after completing a project.
He said: ” There are parts of me that are broken because of the show, because of what I’ve learned, because of what I’ve had to ask, because of having to fight some of the pushback that’s come from people who are still very religious or in this faith. It’s hard.
“I don’t think I ever just move on. I think it’s gonna take time to put myself back together, but good. Isn’t that what we’re supposed to do? If it was easy, I’d probably make a lot more money and it wouldn’t take as long. This has not been an easy one. This has been challenging. I think it’s gonna take a little time to heal and I might not make something that comes out next year, but that’s okay. I don’t do that anyway. I take my time.”
Meanwhile, Dustin – who is married to superstar diver Tom Daley, 28, and has four-year-old Robert-Ray with him – revealed that he is working on a movie musical, but insisted it will not be a romantic comedy.
He told Collider: ” I am currently writing a musical that I’ve had to put aside for a little bit. But it’s not a musical rom-com. Music might be healing. We’ll see. I have to feel like we’re breaking something open that needs to be broken, or else I’d rather just stay in bed. That’s just how I’m built. I think I get it from my mom. My mom was curious, and my mom didn’t take s***from anybody. ”

Yazmin Oukhellou broke her own arm to escape horror car crash

OHMYGOSSIP — Yazmin Oukhellou broke her own arm to escape the devastating car crash that killed her boyfriend.
The ‘TOWIE’ star revealed she deliberately injured herself in order to free her arm and escape the Mercedes she was travelling in with boyfriend Jake McLean, 33, after it went over a cliff.
She told The Sun newspaper: “We were just tumbling for what seemed like forever. It felt like I was going round in a washing machine — just round and round.
“Then eventually it stopped and my right arm was jammed.
“The car was upside down. It had an open sunroof and my right arm was just stuck behind my back and under the folded back of the car roof.
“So I thought, ‘Right, I can either lay still and bleed to death, or snap my own arm to try to save us — I had no choice.
“So I somehow snapped my arm through pure adrenaline and panic. I climbed out of the car, and I was kind of holding my arm together with my left hand.
“I ran up to the top of the bank, I was screaming for help.”
Yazmin, 28, revealed she did not know at first that her boyfriend Jake had died in the crash.
She said: “In my head I told myself, ‘OK, he’s just unconscious, I’m alive so he must be alive’.
“I didn’t want to admit it to myself that he could be dead. I climbed back down and tried to check his pulse but I couldn’t feel anything and then the ambulance came.
“They were helping me. I was like, ‘Please can you just help him’ and they were like, ‘We just need to take him to another hospital.’
“I think they knew, but for me even now I still feel like it’s not real. I still feel like I’m just waiting to wake up from a nightmare and it’s just something that never happens.”
And Yazmin is still traumatised from the accident.
She said: “I am definitely going to need therapy for a while, and I’m going to try some in-patient treatment too. I know this will live with me forever, I need to take it slowly.”
