The Traitors bosses ‘want famous couple for celebrity spin off’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Traitors’ bosses are looking to sign a famous couple for the celebrity spin-off.
The BBC is working on a star-studded version of the backstabbing game show based on bluff and treachery – which is hosted by Claudia Winkleman – and producers are keen to land a celeb pairing to channel the likes of mother-and-son duo Diane and Ross from the most recent civilian series.
As reported by The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column, bosses could be looking at the likes of father-and-son Harry and Jamie Redknapp, mother-and-son Judy and Andy Murray, or husband-and-wife Vernon Kay and Tess Daly.
A source said: “Although the famous couple won’t have any secrecy around the fact they are linked, it will still create huge amounts of suspicion and paranoia and really test allegiances.
Will family ties prevent them from stabbing their relative or partner in the back? Would it warp the normal dynamic between the Traitors when it comes time to ‘murder’ their loved ones?
“And if they do turn on their partner, will it strain the relationship?”
Producers have seen evidence that these kind of pairings – such as couple Tom and Alex in the first UK series – can have viewers hooked, while having Tess appear on a show hosted by her ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ co-star Claudia would be a bonus.
The insider added: “Bosses know the intrigue will make for great telly, as they’ve seen how it stirs things up in previous series.
“Signing up Tess would be compulsive viewing as obviously she and Claudia are good friends from co-hosting Strictly Come Dancing.”
The celebrity series will be filmed at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands early next year, with planning in the early stages.
The BBC confirmed the spin-off last month, with a third and fourth non-celebrity season also in the pipeline.

Anya Taylor-Joy desperate to play Elsa in live action Frozen

OHMYGOSSIP — Anya Taylor-Joy would love to play Elsa in a live action version of ‘Frozen’.
The 28-year-old actress is a huge Disney fan and even auditioned for a role in ‘Maleficent’ early in her career, and she would love to star in a new version of the 2013 animated classic, which features now-iconic songs like ‘Let It Go’.
Asked for her dream Disney role, she told Vogue Hong Kong: “I think ‘Frozen’ would be pretty great. It would be very fun to shoot ice out of your hand. Also, you’d just be the favourite at every kid’s birthday party.
“All of my siblings have children now, so I would love for them to be able to say ‘my auntie is Elsa.’ That would be pretty sick.”
In February 2023, it was revealed a third animated ‘Frozen’ movie is in the pipeline, while at this year’s D23 Expo, Disney Animation confirmed the film is set for a 2027 release.
Although not announced, a live action version would tick a box for Anya, who would love her big Disney debut to be a musical.
She explained: “I would love to do a musical because I’m a bit addicted to hard work.
“I like having an impossible mountain to climb. The idea of having to be able to sing, dance, and act at the same time would just really thrill me.”
She trained as a ballet dancer as a child, and that experience helped her grow as a person, form the “discipline that it instills in you” to the “rhythm” of acting.
She added: “I see acting as a rhythm thing; I almost hear it as music, and that helps so much with stunt choreography because you’re in a dance with every other performer around you, so you don’t only know your own beats, you know everybody else’s beats in order to keep everyone safe.”

James Gunn and Chris Pratt talk about him joining DCU ‘all the time’

OHMYGOSSIP — James Gunn says he and Chris Pratt are always talking about him joining the DCU.
The 45-year-old actor stars as Peter Quill / Star-Lord in Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ franchise and Gunn, who helmed the films, is now the co-chairman of the rival supehero studio and is keen to get Pratt to join him.
A Threads user asked Gunn, 58, if there is any truth in the “rumour” that they’ve had talks about it, to which the filmmaker replied: “He’s a close friend. We talk about that all the time.”
Pratt has suggested he could have the opportunity to do something at DC and continue playing Star Lord for Marvel.
He told ComicBook.com: “Well, it probably make more sense that I would be Star Lord again.
“But anything is possible, and especially with James over at DC. Maybe there’s something that would be right over there. Maybe both. How about both? Let’s do both. I think it’s 100 per cent both.”
Pratt’s co-star Dave Bautista recently revealed he “became kind of obsessed” with the idea of playing Lex Luthor in a Superman movie.
The 55-year-old Marvel actor played Drax the Destroyer in the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movies, but he’d love the DC role as Superman’s arch-nemesis.
When ScreenRant asked the actor which DC characters he’d be open to portraying, he said: “For forever, it was Bane. When I was younger, I wanted to play Bane; it was like a dream role for me. And I got to a point in my career where I just felt like I was just too old to play Bane. I think the physicality of it, at this point in my career and my life, I just wouldn’t be able to do the character justice.
“And then I saw somewhere online that someone posted something of me playing Lex Luthor; an older Lex Luthor. I kind of became obsessed with that idea.”
Sadly for Bautista, Gunn opted to cast ‘X-Men’ star Nicholas Hoult as the villain in ‘Superman’, but the actor has emphasised he’s still interested in joining the superhero cinematic universe.
He continued: “Obviously, they moved on from that idea, so at this point, I’m struggling to find my place in the DC universe. But I’d really be up for anything.”
While he is keen on debuting in the DC franchise, the ‘My Spy: The Eternal City’ star insisted he was happy to say goodbye to his Marvel role due to the painful makeup process.
Talking about Drax with GQ, he said “I’m so grateful for Drax. I love him.
“But there’s a relief [that it’s over]. It wasn’t all pleasant. It was hard playing that role. The makeup process was beating me down.”
The ‘Dune’ actor admitted he was “keen to do more dramatic stuff” while looking back at his “silly performance” as the hero.
He added: “I just don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy – it’s a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff.”

Brenda Edwards reveals key reason she’d never do I’m A Celebrity after cancer battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Brenda Edwards “couldn’t do” ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ after changing her diet due to her cancer battle.
The ‘Loose Women’ star was diagnosed with cancer aged 46 in 2016 and underwent chemotherapy, a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery before making big lifestyle changes in the food she eats.

“I couldn’t do the jungle though, I only eat green things now, remember!”
Her treatment and recovery gave Brenda a “second chance at life”, and that was reflected in the way she has lived ever since.
She explained: “I cut out sugar – I used to have a lot of sugar in my coffee, I don’t even want to admit it, but I had six sugars.
“Then I started to do some research. My [late son Jamal] would too and he would read something and send it to me.
“I stopped eating processed foods, I started growing my own veg because I did research into pesticides, and I had a diet of spinach, because if it’s good for Popeye, it’s good for me!”
After losing her own parents at a young age, Brenda – whose son Jamal died aged 31 in 2022 – was determined to overcome her battle with cancer for the sake of her kids.
She said: “I’ve had a lot of tragedy in my life and you kind of learn to be resilient.
“Because both of my parents died when I was so young, so I was determined not to let my children be orphaned.
“I always said that I wanted to get passed the age that my parents were, because they were very young – 27 and 25 – so it just wasn’t an option for me. Cancer knocked on the wrong door.”

Janette Manrara admits planning Aljaz Skarjanec’s Strictly return around their family is ‘difficult’

OHMYGOSSIP — Janette Manrara admits it’s been “difficult” planning for Aljaz Skorjanec’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ return.
The loved up couple – who welcomed daughter Lyra into the world in July 2023 – have been trying to get their life in order as Aljaz prepares to return to the BBC Latin and ballroom competition after first stepping away in 2022, while they have no immediate family nearby with her loved ones in Miami, and her husband’s in Slovenia.
She told OK! magazine: “It’s very difficult. We have no one to help, so it’s all about future planning as much as possible. It’s a massive juggle.
“Right now, Aljaz and I are trying to figure out how we’re going to make it work with him being back on ‘Strictly’ full time.
“His schedule is basically seven days a week and the hours are here, there and everywhere.”
Janette – who was a pro on the show from 2013 to 2021 – understands the challenges of the programme even without doing it as a parent.
She added: “I know how hard it is doing ‘Strictly’, let alone doing it when you’re a parent.
“Lyra goes to nursery a couple of days a week, but planning childcare when Aljaz and I are both working and she is not in nursery can be very complicated; especially when we have no family around to help.”
And she explained that their daughter’s happiness and comfort is their priority.
She said: “I’m planning every inch of our lives for the next few months.
“The most important thing is that she is comfortable and happy. I don’t want her to miss mummy or daddy too much in the midst of the madness.”
Meanwhile, Janette admitted seeing her husband back in rehearsals has given her a reminder of why she fell for him in the first place.
She gushed: “Now that he’s gone back on ‘Strictly’ we’re not dancing together.
“So he sends me videos of rehearsals and what they’re doing. And I’m like, ‘I fancy you all over again!’ ”

“Behind the scenes, big names have already expressed their interest in taking part from the moment it was revealed the new version of ‘The Traitors’ was being made.
“So Ricky will be in good company around the Traitors table, but whether he takes part will probably depend on his hugely busy diary.”

Tim Burton explains absence of Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

OHMYGOSSIP — Tim Burton didn’t want to “tick any boxes” by re-casting Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis in the ‘Beetlejuice’ sequel.
The pair played ghost couple Adam and Barbara Maitland from the original 1988 flick, but the filmmaker didn’t feel their presence was necessary for the story he wanted to tell in ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’, which focuses on the Deetz family.
He told PEOPLE: “I think the thing was for me I didn’t want to just tick any boxes.
“So even though they were such an amazing integral part of the first one, I was focusing on something else.”
Adam and Barbara summoned the titular trickster ghoul, who is played by Michael Keaton, after they drowned in a river and became ghosts.
They get Beetlejuice to scare away the new family that moved into their home.
Charlie and Delia Deetz can’t see them, but their death-obsessed daughter Lydia can.
Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara have reprised their roles as Lydia and Delia, while Jenna Ortega plays the former’s daughter Astrid Deetz.
Burton added: “A sequel like this, it really had to do with the time.
“That was my hook into it, the three generations of mother, daughter, granddaughter. And that [would] be the nucleus of it. I couldn’t have made this personally back in 1989 or whatever.”
Time has moved on with Lydia now a mother herself, and Winona recently admitted she initially struggled to see Lydia move beyond her gothic phase to become a parent.
She told Slash Film: “I think certainly, I never pictured Lydia either having children or in any type of relationship.
“I just always thought she was just probably in her own world as she got older. Just sort of in the attic and happy, but alone.”
The ‘Stranger Things’ actress added that as soon as she started working with Jenna and Justin Theroux – who plays Lydia’s husband Rory – on the project, she was able to get a better grasp of this new version of the character.
She explained: “I think once we got there and once Jenna and I bonded and once Justin came on board … I mean, I think everyone who’s as old as I am now, we’ve all been in those things where you’re just like, ‘What was I thinking, in terms of the relationship I have?’
“But I don’t know with young Lydia, I don’t think she would ever have expected to be in front of a camera.”

Barry Keoghan signs up for Peaky Blinders film

OHMYGOSSIP — Barry Keoghan will star in the ‘Peaky Blinders’ movie.
The ‘Banshees of Inisherin’ actor has signed up to appear in director Tom Harper’s upcoming Netflix film, a spin-off from the hit TV show which followed Birmingham gang leader Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy).
Barry’s role is being kept under wraps for the time being, as plot details for the film have also not been disclosed, though creator Stephen Knight previously said it would be set during World War II.
The ‘Saltburn’ star’s casting comes in the wake of ‘Dune’ actress Rebecca Ferguson also signing up for the movie.
Production on the film is set to begin later this year.
In the wake of the movie announcement, Cillian told Deadline: “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me… It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of ‘Peaky Blinders’. This is one for the fans.”
Director Tom added: “When I first directed ‘Peaky Blinders’ over 10 years ago, we didn’t know what the series would become, but we did know that there was something in the alchemy of the cast and the writing that felt explosive.
“‘Peaky’ has always been a story about family – and so it’s incredibly exciting to be reuniting with Steve and Cillian to bring the movie to audiences across the world on Netflix.”
Stephen teased the film will be “full-on”.
He said: “I’m genuinely thrilled that this movie is about to happen. It will be an explosive chapter in the ‘Peaky Blinders’ story. No holds barred. Full-on ‘Peaky Blinders’ at war.”
Cillian had often expressed interest in returning as Tommy Shelby on the big screen but was only prepared to do so if the story was of sufficient quality.
The ‘Oppenheimer’ actor told Rolling Stone UK last year: “If there’s more story there, I’d love to do it.
“But it has to be right. Steve Knight wrote 36 hours of television, and we left on such a high. I’m really proud of that last series. So, it would have to feel legitimate and justified to do more.”

‘I wasn’t thrilled about all the guns’: Sigourney Weaver was initially disappointed by Aliens

OHMYGOSSIP — Sigourney Weaver was initially upset when she read the script for ‘Aliens’ due to its focus on guns.
The 74-year-old actress was happy to return as Ellen Ripley for its 1986 sequel after the success of the original 1979 movie ‘Alien’, though has now admitted she “wasn’t thrilled” to learn that James Cameron’s blockbuster would be more action-centric than the original.
She told Variety: “[Cameron] was just so open to any thoughts that I might have, and I just felt his instincts were amazing. The one thing, of course, I wasn’t thrilled about was all the guns.
“I read very quickly because I’m trying to experience the story and I had left out reading a lot of the stage directions, which had a lot of guns in them.”
The ‘Ghostbusters’ star reflected on her displeasure when the 70-year-old filmmaker brought the firearms onto the ‘Aliens’ set.
She explained: “I said, ‘What are those for?’ and he said,’Well, what do you mean?’
“I said, ‘Well, I’m for gun control and I’m really not going to be picking up a gun and doing anything with it.’
“He said, ‘Well, you haven’t read the script.’ I said, ‘I have, but I haven’t read all those paragraphs about guns.’”
Weaver revealed the ‘Avatar’ director had taken her “out into the back field and had [her] shoot off a couple hundred rounds of this machine gun”, which the Hollywood star conceded was “unfortunately very addictive”.
Afterwards, Cameron laid out Ripley’s character arc to the actress and explained the heroine’s reliance on weaponry was intrinsically linked to her survival – a detail that Sigourney admitted “wasn’t [her] first choice”.
She said: “I think, of course, she needs to defend herself, but also I understood why he wanted to use guns.
“It wasn’t my first choice.”
Weaver would go on to portray Ripley again in ‘Alien 3’ and ‘Alien: Resurrection’, though parted ways with the franchise after the 1997 movie.
However, the actress recently revealed she hasn’t completely closed the door to playing the character again in a future installment in the sci-fi series.
Speaking to Deadline, she said: “I feel like she’s never far away from me, but on the other hand I have yet to read a script that said ‘you have got to do this.’
“So for me, she is in this other dimension, safe from the Alien for the time being. I don’t really think about it, but you know, it’s not completely impossible, and certainly a lot of good filmmakers are inspired by the material.”

‘It’s my true dream to play her’: Emma Roberts responds to Britney Spears biopic speculation

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Roberts hopes she will be cast as Britney Spears in the upcoming biopic about the pop star.
The ‘American Horror Story’ actress, 33, is rumoured to be in the running to play the 42-year-old singer in the upcoming Universal film about Spears and Roberts has emphasised that it would be a dream come true if she landed the role as the ‘Toxic’ hitmaker.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan, she said: “I mean, it’s my true dream to play Britney Spears. It’s a rumor, but I hope maybe it’ll come true. I mean, I remember I locked myself in my room and listened to ‘In the Zone’ and said, ‘I cannot leave this room until I memorize every word.’”
The ‘Madame Web’ star then gushed about the ‘…Baby One More Time’ chart-topper and revealed she constantly sings Spears’ biggest tracks to her three-year-old son Rhodes, who she has with her former partner Garrett Hedlund.
She said: “I mean, I sing Britney to my son in the bath all the time. I’m always like, ‘God, he must think I’m so weird.’ That’s some millennial parenting.”
Roberts has been linked to the movie – which will adapt the singer’s memoir ‘The Woman in Me’ and is being directed by ‘Wicked’ filmmaker Jon M. Chu – after Britney’s former assistant Felicia Culotta, who was with the star from 1997 to 2007, told TMZ that the actress would be a good fit for the part.
Culotta also suggested that Drew Barrymore would be a good pick to play her in the movie, and pointed to Timothee Chalamet as an ideal candidate to take on the role of Justin Timberlake – who had dated the singer from 1999 to 2002.
While plot details about the picture are being kept under wraps, Spears is thought to have creative control over the script and casting.

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Fletcher has admitted he takes too long to decide on the acts he wants to mentor on ‘The Voice’.
The McFly singer, 39, is sitting on the show’s new panel with bandmate Danny Jones, 38, in its first “double chair” combo, and says he often dithers about turning around his red chair as he sees his fellow musician also looking like he wants to hold fire.
He told The Sun about working with his bandmate on the show: “I don’t know about us bickering, but you become a bit more hesitant.
“There might be someone and I’m like, ‘They’re amazing, we’re gonna turn’. “And I look to Danny, and he’s just still kind of sitting still.
“And I’m like, ‘Oh, maybe I’m wrong’.
“There’s so much that goes through your mind in the couple of minutes you have.”
Tom and Danny have spent two decades together and are on ‘The Voice’ panel with singers Sir Tom Jones, 84, Will.i.am, 49, and 42-year-old Leann Rimes.

‘The Inbetweeners’ showrunner constantly thinks about what the show’s characters would be up to as grown-ups

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Inbetweeners’ showrunner Damon Beesley constantly thinks about what the show’s four lead characters would be doing as grown-ups.
Damon, 53, who created the Channel 4 schoolboy comedy that ran from 2008 to 2010 and often works with his writing partner Iain Morris, 51, is said to be in talks to revive the much-loved show, and admitted he especially spends time pondering what jobs Simon, Jay, Will and Neil would be up to in adulthood or where their love lives have gone.
He told The Sun: “I often wonder where the boys would be now. Is Jay selling car stereos with Rio Ferdinand?
“Is Simon still working on Carly? Is Neil a cryptocurrency millionaire? Did Will become Prime Minister for a bit?
“We’d need to be convinced there was a strong enough idea but if there’s enough interest for a new adventure, you never know.”
‘The Inbetweeners’ starred Simon Bird, 40, as geeky Will McKenzie, Joe Thomas, also 40, as constantly lovelorn Simon Cooper, James Buckley, 37, as sex-obsessed Jay Cartwright and Blake Harrison, 39, as dimwit Neil Sutherland.
Actor Joe recently said all the main cast were keen to get back together a decade on from the last spin-off movie from the show, which came out in 2014.
He hinted another film is likelier than a new TV series, telling The Sun: “Yes, it’s happened in various forms. All of us feel it would be nice to do.”
Joe added he is still good friends with the cast, and added “some of the ideas” are “out there” for a revival including a stag do-themed story set in Las Vegas.
But he admitted: “Everybody’s anxiety would be, ‘Will it be as good?’ That is what we would be going in with.”
The comedy ran for three series and spawned two popular films in 2011 and 2014, with the movie sequel seeing the lads travel to Australia.
