John Carpenter thinks the Halloween franchise could continue after Halloween Ends

OHMYGOSSIP — John Carpenter wouldn’t be surprised to see the ‘Halloween’ franchise continue after ‘Halloween Ends’.
The final chapter of David Gordon Green’s trilogy, which is set to mark Jamie Lee Curtis’ final appearance as Laurie Strode, will be released later this year but Carpenter thinks there will be a desire for even more films if it proves to be a hit with audiences.
John, who directed the original 1978 horror classic, told a panel at Pennsylvania’s Steel City Convention: “I didn’t expect there to be a sequel (to ‘Halloween’). The movie business is ruled by money.
“(The first) ‘Halloween’ made so much money, here they came again, the same guys saying, ‘Hey John, let’s do another one.’
“I guarantee you if ‘Halloween Ends’ makes a lot of money, guess what? Just guess what.”
The ‘Halloween’ franchise has now spanned 13 films but John confessed that he is only interested in those he has been involved in as a producer or composer.
The 74-year-old filmmaker said: “I don’t care about the ‘Halloween’ sequels. I made the first one as a director, and that’s the only one I care about except for the paycheck I get for the others.
“I hate to be that kind of a guy, but that’s the truth.”
‘Halloween Ends’ – which will be released in October – has been billed as a final battle to the death between Laurie Strode and serial killer Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney), who Carpenter describes as “a force of evil”.
John said: “He’s just a force of nature, he has no character. He’s pure evil. And you cannot kill him, really.
“Although, wait until you see ‘Halloween Ends’. Wait until you see it.”

Jodie Whittaker to pay tribute to former Time Lords

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Whittaker is set to pay tribute to previous Time Lords by wearing their outfits in her final episode of ‘Doctor Who’.
The 40-year-old actress will bow out of the series during the upcoming BBC centenary episode in October and she is set to honour former Doctor Who actors in her final outing.
A source told the Mirror: “Getting Jodie – and some others – to wear some of the best-loved items from the Doctors’ wardrobes over the decades, seems a fitting and perfect way to mark the BBC’s 100 year anniversary.”
Meanwhile, it was previously revealed that Ncuti Gatwa will begin filming for ‘Doctor Who’ in November.
The ‘Sex Education’ star was unveiled as the Fourteenth Doctor by returning showrunner Russell T. Davies in May and The Hollywood Reporter claims that he will get the keys to the TARDIS by the end of this year.
Ncuti’s first full series as the Doctor is unlikely to air until 2024.
The decision to cast Gatwa as the Time Lord has been praised as “sensational” by Matt Smith – who portrayed the Eleventh Doctor.
The 39-year-old star said: “I think it’s the most sensational bit of casting.
“What an actor – he’s brilliant in ‘Sex Education’.
“I think he’s got something ‘other’ that that part really needs.”
Smith added: “I think it’s an inspired piece of casting, and along with Russell [T. Davies, showrunner], who’s such a great leader of that show.
“I don’t know if you’ve seen him in ‘Sex Education’, there’s a warmth and wit and a real depth to his talent that I think … honestly, I think it’s an inspired bit of casting and I’m really, really excited for the show.”

Jesse Eisenberg: I’d be shocked if I wound up in another DC movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Jesse Eisenberg is “not a comic book fan” and would be “shocked” if he appeared in another DC movie.
The 38-year-old actor played Lex Luthor in the 2016 DC superhero film ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, and while he’s insisted the genre is not important to him, he wouldn’t rule out a return to the franchises.
He told Deadline: “I’d be shocked if I wound up in a DC movie, but it would be a pleasant shock.
“Listen, I’m not a comic book fan. To me, it was not playing a role that I’d envisioned since childhood. To me, it was a chance to play this great character that this great writer wrote, and I loved doing that. So, to play it is a joy, and to not play it isn’t something that I’m going to be ashamed to tell my kids about, because that is not an important genre in my life, even though I loved doing that movie.”
Meanwhile, Eisenberg revealed this week he’s set to write and direct ‘A Real Pain’ and star in the film alongside Kieran Culkin.
The ‘Zombieland’ star is poised to head to Poland in March 2023 to shoot the film about “two estranged cousins who travel to Poland after their grandmother dies to see where she came from and end up joining a Holocaust tour.”
They will be played by Eisenberg, 38, and ‘Succession’ star Kieran, 39.
Eisenberg is once again teaming up with Dave McCary, Emma Stone and Ali Herting’s production firm Fruit Tree on the movie, after his directional debut ‘When You Finish Saving The World’ was released under the banner.
The ‘Now You See Me’ star says the movie asks if “modern pain is valid against the backdrop of real historical trauma.”
In an interview with ScreenDaily.com, Eisenberg said of the two characters: “They have a funny, fraught relationship; it’s a bittersweet story, as we realise maybe we don’t fully belong together, but against the backdrop of this incredibly dramatic history.
“I’m trying to ask the question is modern pain valid against the backdrop of real historical trauma? I think I’m speaking to the experience of people [in their 30s] who go back and it’s foreign to them – and now suddenly real.”
Eisenberg is hoping to work with as many team members from the crew of his first film as he can, along with locals.
He added: “Luckily I’m shooting in a country that has an amazing film tradition.”
The ‘Social Network’ star previously opened up about coming from a “secular suburban Jewish household” himself, while his ancestors were Polish.
He said: “I grew up in a secular suburban Jewish household where we only observed the religion on very specific times like a funeral or a Bar Mitzvah.”

Jenna Coleman won’t rule out Doctor Who return

OHMYGOSSIP — Jenna Coleman hasn’t ruled out a return to ‘Doctor Who’.
The 36-year-old actress – who played Clara Oswald – the companion to the Eleventh (Matt Smith) and Twelfth (Peter Capaldi) Doctors – in the BBC series, revealed she would love to reprise her role.
Jenna told Best magazine: “It could happen in the future, who knows? I think, at least for a good while, Clara is probably broken down somewhere in time and space, trying to understand how to work a TARDIS!
“I took away so much from my time working with Peter, Matt and the rest of the cast and crew on something so loved and revered. It was such a special time in my life.”
Jenna first appeared in the series in 2012 and left the show in 2017.
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Jenna is set to star in new Prime Video drama ‘Wilderness’.
The actress will take on the role of Liv in the psychological thriller which has been adapted from BE Jones’s book of the same name.
The story will follow Liv as she embarks on a road trip across the US with her husband Will, played by Oliver Jackson-Cohen, after finding out he had an affair.
A scorned Liv decides to take revenge on her cheating husband after Will suggests the British couple go on a road trip in the wilderness to work on their marriage. ‘Wilderness’ is a twisted love story where a dream holiday quickly becomes a living nightmare.
She said: “We will be exploring the boundaries of a relationship tested in unimaginable ways.”
Producer Marnie Dickens added: “Our heroine Liv says the things you wish you had the guts to, does the things you can only fantasise about and lives by her increasingly outrageous set of rules.”

Jason Momoa to produce biopic about Hawaiian swimming legend

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Momoa is to produce a documentary about a legendary Hawaiian swimmer.
The ‘Aquaman’ star has once again teamed up with producer Peter Safran – who he worked with on the 2018 superhero film and the forthcoming sequel ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ – for a movie about Duke Kahanamoku, who is widely credited for making surfing more popular as a sport.
Momoa – who is also from Hawaii – and Sarfan have joined forces with producers Susan Miller Carlson and Eric Carlson on the project, and Chris Kekaniokalani Bright is writing the script.
Sarfan told Variety: “Duke’s story is one that has fascinated me for years.
“To now have the opportunity to tell it with the respect that it deserves, in collaboration with Jason, Chris and the Carlsons, is truly a gift.”
Eric added: “We are all proud to be working with Malama Pono to tell the incredible true story of Duke Kahanamoku, one of America’s most overlooked heroes.”
Momoa is no stranger to the life of Kahanamoku, after he narrated a PBS documentary, ‘Waterman – Duke: Ambassador of Aloha’, about the star in May.
Kahanamoku – who passed away in 1968 aged 77 after suffering a heart attack – won five Olympic medals for swimming across the 1912, 1920 and 1924 Games.
He went on to become the sheriff of Honolulu – where Momoa was born in – for nearly 30 years until the early 1960s.
According to producers, the film will “explore this iconic and gentle man as the legendary swimmer, trailblazer and the undisputed father of modern-day surfing”.
They added: “Duke lived a life of compassion and inclusion as he embraced the true meaning of ‘Aloha.’ ”

He also said they had been “all over” the best private doctors in London “like a rash” without any resolution.
Talking about how he has dedicated his latest cookbook to the mum of his five children, Jamie said: “She’s had bad Covid and long Covid, so she’s been really affected by it, sadly.
“She’s OK, but still not what she wants to be. It’s been two years. She finds it deeply scary.

Jamie says in the dedication of his latest recipe book ‘One: Simple One-Pan Wonders’: “If ever I wrote a book that was perfect for you, it’s this one.”
He added the message is “an opportunity to say, ‘Thank you. Love you’.”
Nearly two million Britons are thought to be suffering long Covid, according to the latest data available from the Office for National Statistics.

In 2020, Jools revealed she has suffered five miscarriages.
Two happened before she gave birth to River in 2016, and three afterwards, including one during lockdown.

The couple have shared other stories of the ups and downs of family life during lockdown, with Jamie once describing home schooling as a “blend of misery… and misery”.

James Bond films ‘will be on screens until at least 2037 in new Warner Bros deal’

OHMYGOSSIP — James Bond films will reportedly be on screens until at least 2037.
Makers of the movie franchise, which started on screens in 1962, are said to have signed a new deal to continue the series with Warner Bros. in a deal which will take the spy to his 75th birthday.
Whilst this may come as good news to fans, bosses are still yet to confirm who will be cast as the infamous the MI6 agent after Idris Elba ‘walked away from 007 talks.’
A source told the Sunday Mirror: “Bond is sure to still be in rude health at 75. There will be no hanging up the tux and martini.”
The insider added it was “great news for fans” as it will allow the franchise to continue far past its latest film ‘No Time To Die’ with Daniel Craig.
It comes as Idris Elba, 49, is said to have walked away from the chance of being the next 007 after Daniel, following years of talks.
The ‘Luther’ actor was one of the frontrunners for role, but is now said to be keen to pursue other roles.
He has even reportedly put forward a list of proposed actors’ names he thinks would be perfect for the part to the franchise’s veteran producer Barbara Broccoli.
A source told The Sun: “Fans and Barbara wanted Idris but he wants to create something for himself.
“However, he’s put forward names to play 007. He’s ‘informally’ in the decision-making process as he’s been in talks with producers for so long.”
Idris had said when asked if he would consider taking the part: “No, I’m not going to be James Bond… I’m probably the most famous Bond actor in the world, and I haven’t even played the role.
“Enough is enough. I can’t talk about it anymore.”

Idris Elba hopes Beast boosts the revival of cinemas

OHMYGOSSIP — Idris Elba wants his new movie ‘Beast’ to continue the revival of cinemas.
The 49-year-old actor stars in the new survival thriller as Dr. Nate Samuels, a father who is forced to protect his daughters from a ferocious lion on a trip to South Africa, and he hopes that flick provides a similar big-screen experience to that of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ as the film industry bounces back from the coronavirus pandemic.
Discussing the movie heading exclusively to cinema, Idris told ComicBook.com: “Man, this is great, I feel great.
“I mean, I just feel like we saw what audiences felt like going to watch ‘Maverick’, you know what I mean? And I feel like, not to compare, but we want to take the audience there, too.
“‘Maverick’ did, and ‘Beast’ is definitely gonna do that and I think that’s good, we want to continue the trend of moviegoing again, you know what I mean? Like it’s a special environment to see films, right?”
The movie was shot last year in South Africa to capture the environment where a lion attack would be possible, but Idris actually had to battle cold weather during the film.
The ‘Luther’ star said: “It was their winter, so it was freezing. South Africa was a big character in the film.”
No actual lions were used during the making of ‘Beast’ but Idris was determined to make the movie as “realistic” as possible.
The star explained: “I mean, obviously no lions in this, but we really had to pay attention.
“This is a fantastical story, lions don’t attack human beings in this way, but we wanted to make it realistic. I was really keen to make a film that just plucked audiences from wherever they’re sitting and threw them into this family’s predicament. So it was interesting, it was really hard work as well.”

Holliday Grainger lands role in sci-fi film Mickey7

OHMYGOSSIP — Holliday Grainger has landed a leading role in the sci-fi film ‘Mickey7’.
The 34-year-old actress started shooting the movie – which will be directed by Oscar-winning ‘Parasite’ filmmaker Bong Joon-Ho – in London earlier this week.
‘The Capture’ actress will be starring opposite Robert Pattinson, Toni Colette and Mark Ruffalo in the flick.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “This is arguably Holliday’s biggest role to date. It will see her mix with the A-list of acting and will really elevate her stardom.
“She’s had big film roles before but she was chuffed to be asked to work with Bong, who is one of the most sought-after people in the industry right now.”
The film is based on the novel of the same name by Edward Ashton and Bong will write, direct and produce for his production company Offscreen.
Insiders have claimed that Bong’s past experience with adaptations could mean that the big-screen version may differ slightly from the novel.
The story follows Mickey7 – a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonise the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there is a mission that is too dangerous – even suicidal – the crew turns to Mickey.
After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.
Holliday previously revealed that she has become “more selective” about her roles as her acting career develops.
She said: “I’m getting more selective, the more I do. As an actor, you want to do a variety of things, but first and foremost, it’s the script, the quality of the script and the part.
“If the script is great and it’s a part that I believe and I believe the world, that’s rarer than you think. It’s always a project that I want to be involved in, if it’s a world that I believe. As an actor, when you’re put into a world that you believe, you’re given the freedom to do what you want with the character.”

Giovanni Pernice to be paired with Richie Anderson on Strictly?

OHMYGOSSIP — Giovanni Pernice is reportedly set to be part of a same-sex pairing in this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
Show bosses are believed to have paired Giovanni, 31 – who won last year’s series with Rose Ayling-Ellis, 27 – with presenter Richie Anderson, 34, when the show returns later this year and the pair have already been tipped to win the glitterball trophy.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Some of Gio’s fellow pros have raised eyebrows about chat of him getting Richie.
“The last two same sex couples have done really well and the feeling is that whoever gets Richie could go all the way and win it.
“Winning two on the bounce would be great for Gio — but not all of his colleagues feel the same way.”
Giovanni previously revealed he would love a male partner on the show, following 2021’s successful pairing of professional Johannes Radebe with chef John Waite.
He said: “If the production people come to me and say ‘listen Giovanni we’d love you to be partnered with a man’, I’d say ‘yes’.

“It would give me a chance to challenge myself with new routines, you have to think more about it.
“I love challenging myself.”
And insiders admitted Giovanni has even been thinking about how to choreograph a same-sex routine.

Gemma Owen and Luca Bish ‘pretty much move in’

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Owen and Luca Bish have “pretty much moved in with each other”.
The 19-year-old international dressage rider has been staying with the 23-year-old fishmonger while working in London since the pair came out of the ‘Love Island’ villa earlier this month, but Gemma – who is from Cheshire – admits they are looking at getting an apartment “up north”.
Asked if she is planning to move in with her boyfriend soon, she said: “I’m based quite a bit down in London with work so I’ve been staying with him. We’re pretty much moved in with each other … wherever we go, we’re following each other.
“I think he’s keen to look at an apartment up north, so we can have a base. So yeah, in the near future definitely.”
During her time on the ITV2 dating show, Gemma came under fire from Luca after fellow contestant Billy Brown flirted with her.
But Gemma – whose father is former England footballer Michael Owen – has denied speculation she knew the 23-year-old roofing company director before the series.
She said: “There was a rumour about me and Billy knowing each other before the show, or there was something more [between us] on the show that people didn’t get to see.
“I’d like to set straight that that is not true. I made it very clear to Billy that it was just a friendship thing and that my eyes were only for Luca.”
What’s more, Gemma insists she wants a “nice life” so she is not planning to “throw shade” at any of her fellow Islanders.
Speaking on Cosmopolitan UK’s YouTube channel, she added: “I’ve tried to keep out of this as much as possible.
“I’m not going to be throwing shade on anyone, and I hope no one’s got anything bad to say about me. I’m keeping out of all the drama, I just want a nice life!”

The reality TV millionaire – said to be worth £7.2 million – was shocked when she got caught in a tussle after giving the beggar the note.
Seconds after she gave the man the money, a fellow beggar snatched the cash from her hand and ran off.
Onlookers said Gemma, 41, screamed when the thief grabbed her hand to steal the note.
An eyewitness told The Sun On Sunday: “She wanted to do a good thing. She only had two £50 notes in cash.
“The homeless man had a sign saying he was hungry and needed food.
“She was shocked that this happened – she would have helped him too if he had just asked.”
Gemma is understood to have handed over the cash so the homeless man could buy food.
She was leaving the Mayfair Hotel in London to celebrate fiancé Rami Hawash’s 49th birthday when the incident happened.
It comes after the ex-TOWIE regular nearly ended up in hospital with a mystery illness earlier this month.

Gemma, previously diagnosed with an under-active thyroid, told OK! magazine: “I have been so ill I cannot tell you. My workload has been a lot, but I’ve had a virus. I’ve been really, really, really unwell. I literally had to film up in Wales and I was very unwell.

Gerard Butler pays tribute to ‘brother in arms’ Darius Campbell Danesh

OHMYGOSSIP — Gerard Butler has been left “devastated” following the death of his “dear friend” Darius Campbell Danesh.
The ‘300’ star took to Instagram to share a lengthy tribute to his “brother in arms”, who died aged 41 after was found unresponsive in his apartment in Rochester, Minnesota, on August 11.
Gerard – who was pictured hanging out with his fellow Scot in Malibu in June – wrote: “I am devastated by the sudden passing of my dear friend Darius, a true brother in arms. My thoughts and love go to his wonderful mum and dad Avril and Booth and his two brilliant brothers Aria and Cyrus.
To those lucky enough to have met Darius for more than a few minutes, they were deeply moved by his infectious laugh and barely containable zest for life. He was always armed with a smile, a booming voice, and a genuinely warm embrace that few could resist-nor would they want to!!! He was an incredible talent, a singer whose voice touched your soul and an actor with great presence. But, most importantly, he had the heart of a lion. It was bigger and brighter than the sun and an energy so contagious he could light up a room in seconds.
“Our boy Darius was always constant and unwavering in his passion for life. But a bigger constant was his dream to inspire others to better themselves. He talked the talk but boy, did he walk the walk. He had such purity of thought, a deep wisdom and constant gratitude for people, for life, a compassion towards all. His hilarious self-deprecating sense of humor (he was funny as shit) allowed him to stay humble – something he valued deeply. Darius’ undying commitment to being of service to individuals- his family, his friends (none more so than me) and to the world at large made him the perfect friend- He led by example but he was also a teacher, as he pushed those he loved to be the best possible versions of themselves. (sic)”
Gerard admits his heart “aches heavily” following his pal’s passing, but he hopes there will be a “meaning” as to why Darius departed “so early”.
He added: “The universe unfolds in ways we may not agree with or even understand. Somewhere in there I believe there is, or will be, some meaning in why he left us so early. If it was nothing more than teaching us to live with that open heart, putting others first and never taking ourselves too seriously as we learn to traverse this wonky world we live in then, that might be enough. But something tells me there will be way more waves created by our boy Darius further down the line. My heart aches heavily. But going forward, I will beat my drum louder and celebrate life and its every beautiful moment because my brother showed me that was a pretty awesome way to go about it. (sic)
Gerard’s tributes come after Simon Cowell paid tribute to the “charismatic” star.
The music mogul was wowed by the singer on ‘Pop Idol’ in 2001 and offered him a record deal after he finished third on the show.
Simon said in a statement: “I first saw Darius on television over 20 years ago and I got to know him really well.
“He was charismatic, funny and just a great person to be with.
“His passing, for someone so young, is an absolute tragedy and my heart goes out to his family and friends.”
Darius turned down Simon’s deal and signed on with U2 producer Steve Lillywhite instead.
Despite rejecting the chance to team up with the ‘X Factor’ boss, Darius later described Simon as a “friend”.
Will Young won ‘Pop Idol’ in 2001, with Gareth Gates finishing second.
Gareth has also paid tribute to the late star, admitting he has been left “heartbroken” over his pal’s passing, and admitted Darius was like a “big brother” to him on the talent show.
He said in a statement: “I can’t quite believe the news of my dear friend Darius passing. I’m heartbroken.
“Darius took me under his wing during our time in ‘Pop Idol’, like a big brother; always looking out for me and for that I thank you my friend.”
Darius’ family confirmed this week that he had sadly passed away.
They said in a statement: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darius Campbell Danesh. Darius was found unresponsive in bed in his apartment room in Rochester, Minnesota, on August 11 and was pronounced dead in the afternoon by the local medical examiners’ office.”
