Sir Ben Kingsley thinks there is something ‘pure’ about his MCU character

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Ben Kingsley thinks there is something “pure” about his MCU character.
The 78-year-old actor has starred as jester Trevor Slattery in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies Iron Man 3′ and ‘ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ and joked that while he hasn’t actually told his character that he will be returning to the comic book franchise for a third in upcoming series ‘Wonder Man’, it is the “child” in him that resonates with the audience.
“Well I haven’t actually broken the news to Trev that he is about to embark on his third incarnation but if I could find him in a pub in Liverpool, I should tell him, gently and quietly in a corner ‘Trev, we’re on. Let me speculate on why [there is a love for the MCU
]. Like ‘Dhali’, there is something of the child in Trev and there is something pure in Trev and perhaps that touches the unconscious in the audience. That’s probably a ludicrous answer, but I had a go!”
Meanwhile, the ‘Gandhi’ star is now taking on the title role of painter Salvador Dalí in ‘Daliland’ and explained that the scenes in which he portrayed the late art legend dying as one of the most “extraordinary days” in his 50-year career.

Mike Myers has said ‘maybe’ to a fourth Austin Powers film

OHMYGOSSIP — Mike Myers refuses to rule out a fourth ‘Austin Powers’ movie.
The 59-year-old actor starred as both the titular comedic parody of suave spy James Bond and his arch-nemesis Dr. Evil in three movies – ‘Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery’ in 1997, ‘Austin Powers: The Spy Who S****ed Me’ in 1999, and ‘Austin Powers in Goldmember’ in 2002 – and he’s always said he would be up for reprising the roles again, but he has no idea if it will ever happen.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, he responded when asked if there will be another flick in the series: “I don’t know.
“I’m gonna put a big, firm, written maybe on that.”
Asked the same question in May, he said: “I can neither confirm nor deny the existence or non-existence of such a project, should it exist or not exist.”
When it was suggested his comment felt “like a confirmation”, he told SiriusXM’s Jess Cagle: “It was a non-confirmed, confirmation confirmation.”
Myers – who also wrote and produced the trilogy – spoke about the possibility of a fourth ‘Austin Powers’ movie in November 2018, admitting it was “looking good”.
He said at the time: “Well you’re gonna see Dr. Evil soon, somewhere in the culture. But the movie, you know I’ve had three kids under the age of seven. They take a long time to write, they always have. Jay [Roach]’s been super crazy. He’s doing a fantastic movie right now that he’s working on. But … it’s looking good.”
Myers also previously claimed he would love to make a fourth movie in the franchise, as he explained the franchise was created as a “tribute” to his father, who passed away in 1991.
He said: “After my dad died in 1991, I was taking stock of his influence on me as a person and his influence on me with comedy in general. So Austin Powers was a tribute to my father, who [introduced me to] James Bond, Peter Sellers, The Beatles, The Goodies, Peter Cook and Dudley Moore.
“I would love to do another, but you just have to see. I was devastated by my father’s death. But to have that turn into something that makes people happy is unbelievably satisfying. It’s that kind of stuff you never get used to or get tired of.”

Everything was white bread, processed meats. No water, never drank water. She lived to 100, so maybe we’re all getting it wrong.”

He comes in and gets introduced to everyone, as happens with every guest, and he remembers everyone’s name. Clearly, that is some sort of mental trick, but it’s a very impressive one. That means people backstage love him.”

Akiva Goldsman is writing the screenplay for the sequel and is producing the film through his Weed Road Pictures, alongside J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella for Bad Robot.

Speaking to talk show host Stephen Colbert, the 58-year-old actor said: “I would love to play John Constantine again from the Constantine movie.”
The presenter clarified: “Are you saying right now that you are willing to play John Constantine on national television right now… that no one will make that movie?”
Keanu replied: “I’ve tried. I’ve tried, Stephen. I would love to.”
Lawrence made his directorial debut on the original film and has stated his wish to make a sequel.
He said: “I think we all wanted to do it. It was successful enough. We wanted to make a responsible, R-rated movie.
“By responsible, I mean we’d make a movie that wouldn’t cost quite as much as the original, which we thought was going to be PG-13.
“We worked on the sequel for a while. It was tricky to come up with where to take it.”

James Cameron hopes Avatar re-release sparks cinema resurgence

OHMYGOSSIP — James Cameron hopes the re-release of ‘Avatar’ helps the “resurgence” of cinemas.
A remastered version of the 2009 sci-fi epic will be released in theatres later this month and James wants a new generation to be introduced to the wonders of the big screen.
In an interview with The New York Times newspaper, the 68-year-old director said: “Young film fans never had the opportunity to see it in a movie theatre. Even though they think they may have seen the film, they haven’t really seen it.
“And I was pleasantly surprised, not only at how well it holds up but how gorgeous it is in its remastered state.”
James is aware that movie viewing habits have changed in the wake of the pandemic and acknowledges that films have to be made with streaming and home access in mind.
The ‘Titanic’ filmmaker said: “We’ve got a turn of the world towards easy access in the home, and that has a lot to do with the rise of streaming in general, and the pandemic, where we literally had to risk our lives to go to the movie theatre.”
James did point out that audiences are “craving” the return of the cinematic experience after years of disruption due to the global health crisis – ahead of the release of the long-awaited sequel ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ in December.
He said: “People are craving that. It’s slowly building back. Partly it’s been because of a dearth of top titles that people would want to see in a theatre. But ‘Avatar’ is the poster child for that. This is the type of film that you have to see in a theatre.”

Letitia Wright: Black Panther sequel honours Chadwick Boseman

OHMYGOSSIP — Letitia Wright says ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ honours the late Chadwick Boseman “in a beautiful way”.
The 28-year-old actress reprises her role as Shuri in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) sequel and thinks Ryan Coogler’s blockbuster is the perfect tribute to Chadwick – who played the lead role in the original movie and died aged 43 in 2020 after a battle with colon cancer.
Speaking to The Playlist, Letitia said: “It was hard for me to imagine being on set without my brother. It was something I was battling for months.
“The confidence that Ryan felt that he heard Chadwick just give him that gentle push forward, to continue. And the way that Ryan would express that it was bigger than all of us, and Chad would have wanted us to continue.
“That really encouraged me. I have so much confidence. I love Ryan.”
The ‘Death on the Nile’ star added: “I can’t wait for you guys to see the film and how we honoured Chad in a beautiful way.”
Letitia explained how the cast and crew gave everything for the blockbuster in honour of Boseman’s memory.
She said: “We honoured him by committing ourselves to the story that he started, the legacy he started with this franchise, and we committed every day to working hard, no matter what circumstances we faced. And we faced a lot of circumstances. We poured everything into this movie.”
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has described the upcoming movie – that will be released in November – as a “tribute” to Boseman.
He said: “It’s a very important thing that ‘Wakanda Forever’ not only brings the same level of joy and inspiration that the first ‘Black Panther’ film did, but it also is a tribute to what he did, and what he brought not to just to us, but to the world.”

No scripts prepared for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral

OHMYGOSSIP — Sky News’ Dermot Murnaghan says they won’t prepare any scripts for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.
The 64-year-old broadcaster will treat the event as “a breaking news story” as millions of people tune into the mark the life of the late 96-year-old monarch on Monday (19.09.2022) at a service at Westminster Abbey attended by hundreds of people, including UK Prime Minister Liz Truss, US President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the First Lady of Ukraine Oleana Zelenska.
He told Metro.co.uk: “On the day, it’s a breaking news story. There are no scripts. If you can’t think of something to say, you really shouldn’t be in the job.
“What tells the story of something of this enormity is not some broadcaster like me rabbiting on, it’s pictures and the sounds on your screen. The story is the story. The story is not me, and it’s not what I’d say.”
Dermot recalled the “hairs standing on the back your neck moment” when the Queen’s body was taken from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall, where she lay in state and was seen by thousands of people, many of whom had queued for hours.
He added: “I was there on Wednesday when they had the procession, taking the Queen’s coffin from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall. That was a hairs standing on the back of your neck moment – and that was somber and relatively simple compared to what we’re going to see and what the world is going to see on the day of the Queen’s funeral.
“[They will see] Britain at its best; and I don’t just mean the marching, the music, and just how well [the ceremony] is organised. It’s the people as well, as they are going to turn out absolutely in their millions.”
The former ‘Eggheads’ host believes the day is “going to be the likes of which we’ve never seen before.”
Dermot admitted that he had been “heartened” by the UK’s response to the passing of Her Majesty after more than 70 years on the throne.
He said: “Hundreds of thousands of people have been queuing to see the Queen lying in state and some of them pretty much know they won’t get in. But that’s not the point – the point is that they’re there. And I get that, I think it’s really, really good.
“‘I’m really heartened by the way the British people are reacting. It’s not a tearing of clothes and a wailing [type grief]. It’s not like the death of Princess Diana; it wasn’t a shock. It’s quiet. It’s respectful. It’s reflective and, slightly in those queues, celebratory. It’s an event. And there’s nothing wrong with that.”

They did not jump the queue, have VIP access or file past the Queen lying in state – but instead were there in a professional capacity as part of the world’s media to report on the event.

Rob Brydon: My worst ever heckle was a woman reading a book about genocide during my show

OHMYGOSSIP — Rob Brydon has revealed his worst ever heckle wasn’t someone shouting abuse at him but a woman “reading a book during my show”.
The 57-year-old comedian – who will be heading to Australia next year for his new tour ‘A Night of Songs and Laughter’ – was performing on stage in Inverness in front of a tough crowd as one member of the audience was clearly not amused. The Welsh-actor explained how out of all the hecklers she was the worst as she didn’t even engage in his show just had her head suck in a book engrossed in ‘A History of Genocide’.
He told Daily Star newspaper: “It was a woman sitting on her own reading a book during my show.”
Most recently the ‘Gavin and Stacey’ star was joined by fellow comedian Stewart Lee on his podcast who caused controversy after he slammed Ricky Gervais’ series ‘After Life’ as “one of the worst things ever made”.
The dark comedy Netflix series has received widespread acclaim since it debuted back in 2019 but Ricky felt “genuinely overwhelmed” by the reaction after waking up to thousands of tweets, Stewart Lee called his work “abysmal”.
Speaking on Rob Brydon’s podcast, Stewart, 54, said: “I think ‘The Office’ is brilliant. I think Ricky’s comedy-drama work is of diminishing returns to the point where it’s now abysmal.
“I think it must be very sad if you’re teaching drama or creative writing, how can you make a case for the things that make drama and creative writing good when After Life is a success?
“You know, ‘cause your kids could just go ‘But none of those things happen in this’ and yet millions of people watch it. I think it’s one of the worst things that’s ever been made by a human.”

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’s return Down Under ‘thrown into doubt’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’s return to Australia has been thrown into doubt.
The ITV show is poised to return Down Under after a two-year hiatus – but the show might still have to be moved elsewhere because a highly infectious disease, called Q Fever, is currently raging through Australia.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “‘I’m A Celebrity’s return to Oz was so important to ITV and was something fans of the show were hugely excited for. Another infectious disease is really the last thing ITV needs.”
The disease can cause serious health problems, like organ failure, and it can also be transmitted to humans who work with animals.
The recent spike in cases in thought to have been caused by the increase in wildlife moving nearer to residential areas.
However, ITV has pledged to follow all UK and Australian guidelines.
A spokesperson for the broadcaster said: “The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ production will adhere to all necessary UK and Australian government guidelines.”
The long-running show was filmed in the UK amid the COVID-19 pandemic. But hosts Ant and Dec previously confirmed their plans to return Down Under for the upcoming series.
Dec said: “If they let us in the country, we’ll be back in.”
Ant, 46, loved filming the show in Wales during the pandemic. However, he believes that ‘I’m a Celebrity’ – which launched in 2002 – belongs in the Australian jungle.
He shared: “We had two lovely years in Wales … we really enjoyed our time in Wales, but this show has to be in Australia – we have to go back.”
The new series has been brought forward because of the World Cup and is expected to begin in November.
