Apprentice to return with 2 extra candidates

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Apprentice’ is to return next year – with an additional two candidates.
The BBC business show will feature 18 wannabes vying for Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment, in a “bigger than ever” series.
A show insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Bosses feel The Apprentice will be bigger than ever this year and believe viewers are in for a treat.
“There are so many exciting challenges planned that it made sense to increase the numbers.”
The 75-year-old businessman will be flanked by Karren Brady and former ‘Apprentice’ winner Tim Campbell in the boardroom.
Claude Littner – who had to pull out of being Lord Sugar’s aide earlier this year following a cycling accident, but returned for the show’s interviews stage – will be back for two episodes.
The first episode of the new series will see the 18 candidates head to Antigua, where they will sell excursions to tourists.
Earlier this year, the show returned after a break due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Harpreet Kaur won the series and landed the six-figure prize.
After her victory over Kathryn Burn, the 30-year-old entrepreneur said: “I absolutely loved that it was an all-female final because I love empowering women.
“I hope that I can inspire many women that you need to follow your dreams, go and smash your goals, go and get them.
“But I also do feel that we need to sort of delete these titles out there in business, it doesn’t matter if you’re male or female.
“If you can set your eyes on something, and you’re going to make a success of yourself, go for it. It doesn’t really matter what gender you are.
“And I think, again, through the process, that’s what Lord Sugar is about, I don’t think it matters if you’re male or female, if he recognises that someone’s worth an investment, he will do that.”

Christine Hamilton: Matt Hancock shouldn’t be on I’m A Celebrity

OHMYGOSSIP — Christine Hamilton has hit out at “horrendous” Matt Hancock following his ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ debut, and insisted he “shouldn’t be there”.
The 72-year-old media personality – who finished third on the first-ever series of the ITV show in 2002 – doesn’t agree with the former Health Secretary taking part in the ITV show, and says she didn’t feel sorry for him when he was dumped on by creepy-crawlies in last night’s (09.11.22) Bushtucker Trial.
She said: “I didn’t have any sympathy for him doing that tunnel trial. I just thought, ‘You shouldn’t be there, you shouldn’t be there. I don’t care. I’m not interested how you do it, you should not be there.’
“What I found reassuring was the campmates’ reaction to him coming in.”
Christine also hit out at Matt for “upsetting” some of his fellow campmates by being in the jungle, and insisted he is “extremely lucky” to have headed into camp with fellow latecomer Seann Walsh.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, she added: “I think Matt is extremely lucky that he’s got Seann with him, because he’s a sort of shield and the, ‘We’re in this together, we’re the latecomers, but we can support each other.’
“But he [Matt] is absolutely horrendous. And if he thinks he’s doing himself any good … words almost fail me.
“He’s already upsetting so many of them. They just can’t quite believe he’s actually there.”
Earlier this week, Christine – who is married to former Conservative MP Neil Hamilton – slammed Matt as “shameless” ahead of his ‘I’m A Celebrity’ stint.
She said: “He’s doing it for self-promotion. He’s got a book coming out. His ministerial career has hit the buffers. What he seems to forget is he’s still a very well-paid member of parliament, paid for by the taxpayer to look after his constituents.
“The idea that he can swan off to the jungle for a month – he’s not going into the camp for a week or so, so he’ll be living in five-star, apparently, luxury while he’s being paid by us, the taxpayer, to represent his constituents.
“I think it’s shameless, it’s appalling.”

Peter Kay filmed comeback advert on a phone

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Kay filmed his comeback advert on a mobile phone.
The 49-year-old star confirmed this week he is to hit the road again, after not performing a live tour since 2010, in an ad – which appeared during a break on the returning ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ – and he’s now told how he saved some money by getting a pal to shoot the commercial on a phone, and he had another gadget in his shorts to record his voice.
He said: “I put an iPhone down my shorts and put it on Voice Memo so I recorded my sound.
“Tesco spent £12 million on their Christmas advert, but I’ve done it in 10 minutes on two iPhones.”
In the ad, the comedian delivers a roll of carpet to his mum and he is heckled for his love of garlic bread by a couple of fans.
The star revealed it only took 20 minutes to shoot.
He added to BBC Radio 2: “It was hilarious. We were back home in 20 minutes.”
The ‘Phoenix Nights’ star will begin his tour on 2 December at the Manchester AO Arena before visiting arenas in Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield, Belfast, Newcastle, Glasgow, and Dublin, before wrapping up in August.
Peter explained that because of the cost-of-living crisis, he has managed to keep ticket prices the same as they were when he last went on tour more than a decade ago.
In a statement, he said: “It’s good to get back to what I love doing best, stand-up comedy, and if there’s ever a time people need a laugh it’s now.
“And with the cost of living at an all-time high, ticket prices are starting from £35 – the same price they were on my previous tour in 2010.”
A poster for the upcoming tour described a ticket as an “ideal Christmas gift” and jokes that Peter – who has been married to Susan Gargan and has 18-year-old son Charlie as well as two other children with her – is “better late than never” with his return to stand-up comedy.

Ryan Coogler reveals plans after directing Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Coogler wants to focus on being a “husband and a dad” following the release of ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.’
The 36-year-old director- who tied the knot with Zinzi Evans in 2016 and has two children with her – was at the helm of the 2018 MCU film ‘Black Panther’ and its sequel ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ but explained that while he wants to “work for a long time” and “loves” his job he is only going to think about his next project when he has time off from promoting the hotly-anticipated superhero movie.
He said: “I’m a husband and a dad now, so I’m trying to live a long time, you know what I’m saying? I hope to work a long time. And I love making movies, it fills me with a sense of joy that I hope every human can find in their life. I hope can maintain that joy and make more things of various sizes. But truth be told, right now I’m just focusing on this and getting this done because it’s still a lot of work to do before this comes out to the world. And once that’s over, I’m going to sit and think about what’s next.’
Meanwhile, Ryan added that the Marvel film – which stars the likes of Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, and Michael B. Jordan – was so “big” that it left the team looking for areas where they could make cuts to reach an eventual run time of just over two-and-a-half hours.
He told Collider: “This movie was big, it had a lot of moving parts. The editors delivered an assembly that was very long, as per usual, so we were really looking for what to cut. That gave us some really great insight in terms of that. In terms of making trims, and what things could go wholesale, what things felt like they lost them a bit. We try to show those cuts early with limited music, because music oftentimes has the ability to make things that are longer feel shorter, and we didn’t want to hide anything in those versions. So it was helpful in terms of making the film more concise.”
‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ is set for release in cinemas on Friday 11 November.

Bonnie Hunt was ‘flattered’ to get the chance to reprise her Zootopia role

OHMYGOSSIP — Bonnie Hunt was “flattered” to get the chance to reprise her Zootopia role.
The 61-year-old actress voiced the minor character of rabbit Bonnie Hopps – the mother of lead character Judy Hopps – in the 2016 animated Disney movie and explained that she and co-star Don Lake found it a “gift” to be asked to bring their parts to life in a bigger way for TV spinoff ‘Zootopia +.’
She said: “Well, it’s so flattering and such a gift, you know? We just love working with talented people. Don and I have worked together for years in all different forms of entertainment, in theater, television, film, radio, and now in voice work together. It’s nice that they are focusing on the parents, these ancillary characters in the film. It was a compliment because we loved working together with them. We have so much fun whenever we are recording because we wall want to make each other laugh or impress each other, that’s what it’s all about. So that’s the best. It was a gift.”
Don – who voices the part of Stu Hopps, the father of Judy in the movie, – added that he “lived for the moments of improvisation between himself and Bonnie which made the directors laugh.
In the joint interview, he told ScreenRant: “And to get to improvise like that and to come up with things in the moment. And then getting to hear [Directors] Trent [Correy] and Josie [Trinidad] laughing, and seeing the people you know in the booths laughing. You live for that, you live for it.”
‘Cheaper By the Dozen’ star Bonnie then added that it was “artistically awesome” to see their work brought to life on screen after the animation had been done.
She said: “And then seeing it brought to life in animation when you get to see it. It’s like ‘Boy, they used that!’ Seeing how they brought it to life. It’s so visually pleasing and artistically awesome.”
‘Zootipia+’ is now available to stream on Disney+.

Tim Allen reveals one regret about The Santa Clause movies

OHMYGOSSIP — Tim Allen regrets not working alongside Martin Short on ‘The Santa Clause 3’.
The 69-year-old actor starred in the title role of the festive film franchise and explained that the series became “infected by its own success” as the budget increased with each movie but is still bemused by the fact he and Martin Short – who played Jack Frost in- were not seen on screen together in ‘The Santa Clause 3.’
He said: “What happened was that we became infected by our own success. [1994’s ‘The Santa Clause’] was huge, but we had about $11 for special effects. [2002’s ‘The Santa Clause 2’] was an extension of that but now we could put lights in the window because we had more production money. By number three, all we had was money. The story kind of just got bigger and bigger. And the fact that Marty Short and I never did a scene together that was funny, I’m still going huh. That’s the funniest human being I’ve ever been around, other than me, and we never got a shot to do a real big scene together.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Christmas with the Kranks’ star has returned to his role as Old St. Nick in ‘The Santa Clauses’ and had “totally forgotten” what it felt like to step into character until he walked on set.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “As I walked on set for the first time in the full regalia, everybody got very quiet, both adults and kids. When I show up dressed in the full suit and everything else, there’s big smiles on people’s faces. Little kids are quiet. I had totally forgotten that. It does feel like Santa’s in the room.”
‘The Santa Clauses’ is set to stream on Disney+ from November 16.

Steven Spielberg: Filmmakers thrown under the bus by the pandemic

OHMYGOSSIP — Steven Spielberg thinks that filmmakers were “thrown under the bus” by the pandemic.
The legendary director, 75, explained that while the COVID-19 crisis allowed streaming platforms to thrive when cinemas were closed during lockdown, moviemakers had some of their work “relegated” to services such as HBO Max.
He said: “The pandemic created an opportunity for streaming platforms to raise their subscriptions to record-breaking levels and also throw some of my best filmmaker friends under the bus as their movies were unceremoniously not given theatrical releases. They were paid off and the films were suddenly relegated to, in this case, HBO Max. The case I’m talking about.”
The ‘Jaws’ director went on to explain that the pandemic was a catalyst for change and while the older generation of moviegoers may have initially been “relieved” that they did not have to make the trip to the cinema, they may now “miss” being in a social situation.
He told The New York Times: “I think older audiences were relieved that they didn’t have to step on sticky popcorn. But I really believe those same older audiences, once they got into the theatre, the magic of being in a social situation with a bunch of strangers is a tonic.”
In 2020, studio giant Warner Bros. announced that all of its releases for 2021 would be made available on the streaming platform in order to “guarantee” as much market appeal as possible.
Toby Emmerich, Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman said at the time: “It allows us to do a global release and a national release in what we think is going to be a checkerboarded theatrical marketplace for the bulk of 2021. We think where theatres are open, and consumers can go, that a lot of people will choose to go to the theatre, especially for big movies. It is to guarantee as many movies as we could for the year for the global theatrical marketplace.”

Lindsay Lohan: I missed being on movie sets

OHMYGOSSIP — Lindsay Lohan “missed” being on a movie set.
The 36-year-old actress enjoyed massive success in the early 2000s with starring roles in comedies such as ‘Freaky Friday’ and ‘Mean Girls’ but has taken a break from acting in recent years and explained it was “refreshingly exciting” to return to movies with festive romcom ‘Falling for Christmas.’
She said: “It’s a great movie. I wanted to make this movie because I missed being on set and I really miss bringing characters to life, and this was just the perfect script full of love and family and romance and joy all in one. I wanted to get to the point where I was craving being on set. It felt really refreshingly exciting.”
The ‘Just My Luck’ star went on to add that ‘Falling For Christmas’ – in which she plays the role of a spoiled hotel heiress who loses her memory in a skiing accident – has a “great message” which she loved being able to bring to the screen.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning America’, she added: “And it has a great message, which is that you don’t really need all of the material things in life. It’s good to just focus on the simple things, and I really love that.”
As part of the film’s soundtrack, Lindsay has recorded a version of ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ and explained that she was “nervous” about performing the song because she hoped fans of ‘Mean Girls’ – which features a memorable scene in which she performs the Christmas classic in a high school talent show alongside Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried – would enjoy it just as much.
She said: “I was [nervous] because I haven’t recorded in a long time and felt the pressure of doing it in a way that people who had seen ‘Mean Girls’ would like it the same. With ‘Mean Girls’, we had the dance behind it and I had all the other girls with me. This was just my voice. So, it was nerve-racking. But the outcome was incredible. I’m really, really happy.”
‘Falling For Christmas’ is available to stream on Netflix now.

Lupita Nyong’o: Wakanda Forever plot was ‘informed’ by the death of Chadwick Boseman

OHMYGOSSIP — The plot of ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ was “informed” by the death of Chadwick Boseman, according to Lupita Nyong’o.
The 39-year-old actress starred opposite the late Chadwick – who died in in 2020 at the age of 43 following a battle with colon cancer – in the 2018 MCU movie ‘Black Panther’ and explained that the “unexpected” loss of her co-star created a question for director Ryan Coogler to answer in the sequel.
She said: “Well, Chadwick’s life and his death informed the story of this film. When we lost him, none of us were expecting it and Ryan really had to contend with how to move forward. He ended up really embracing that question and making it the central question of this narrative. How do you move forward when you are faced with such great tragedy, with such deep loss?”
The Oscar-winning star – who features in the Marvel film alongside the likes of Michael B. Jordan and Angela Bassett – went on to add that real-life grief is reflected in the new movie and hopes that fans will be “heartened” by the story that has been created following the tragedy.
She told ScreenRant: “We see characters who are dealing with the loss in very different ways and, in so doing, we explore all the different stages of grief and how cyclical it can be. We hopefully learn and identify with the characters, but at the same time, there was a desire for each one of us to pay tribute to a life that had touched us so deeply. I think fans are going to be heartened by that because you can feel him, but it’s not a weight on the story. It’s actually the platform, the springboard from which the story takes place, and ultimately, we are looking for hope and providing it.”
‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ is set for release on Friday 11 November.

David Walliams apologises for making ‘disrespectful comments’ about Britain’s Got Talent contestants

OHMYGOSSIP — David Walliams has apologised for making “disrespectful comments” about ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ contestants.
The 51-year-old comedian – who has been a judge on the ITV show since 2012 – was heard making derogatory remarks about some contestants in a recording of an audition show at the London Palladium in January 2020.
According to a leaked transcript seen by the Guardian newspaper, he called one contestant a “****”.
Of another, he said: “She’s like the slightly boring girl you meet in the pub that thinks you want to f*** them, but you don’t.”
He reiterated: “She thinks you want to f*** her, but you don’t.”
The ‘Little Britain’ star then added: “I know, she’s just like, ‘Oh, f*** off!’ I was saying, she thinks you want to f*** her, but you don’t. It’s the last thing on your mind, but she’s like, ‘Yep, I bet you do!’ ‘No I don’t!’ ”
David has insisted the conversations were “never intended to be shared”, but said sorry.
He said in a statement: “I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in 2020. These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.”
A Thames spokesperson told the publication that they regarded David’s comments as private, but admit his comments were “inappropriate”.
They have reminded the star of the programme’s “expectations as to future professional conduct”.
There is no suggested that any other judge made offensive remarks about contestants.
A spokesperson for Simon Cowell and Syco Entertainment, the co-producer of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, said: “We were unaware of the alleged conversation until contacted by the Guardian, and whilst it is not suggested Simon heard the alleged remarks, we can confirm he did not. ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ is a family show and we do not condone the use of any such language.”

Roman Kemp to front mental health documentary sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Roman Kemp is set to host a sequel to his mental health documentary.
The 29-year-old TV and radio presenter was left devastated after he lost his close friend and radio producer Joe Lyons to suicide in August 2020, and last year the BBC commissioned a one-hour documentary titled ‘Our Silent Emergency’ with Roman at the helm, which focused on male mental health.
The follow-up documentary, titled ‘Roman Kemp: Our School Emergency’, is being filmed and is expected to air on BBC Three early next year.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Roman identifies this as a very important area to explore within the wider issue of depression.
“As part of that he will be looking at the impact of mental health on young people – including schoolchildren – who are affected.
“It is believed that the issues in question often start in the very early years and that’s the point at which it is best to start assessing them.”
In last year’s documentary, Roman delved deep into his own mental health journey, in which he has battled severe depression from the age of 15 and has overcome suicidal thoughts.
In an emotional scene, Roman revealed to his mum, singer Shirlie Holliman – who shot to fame in the 1980s as one half of duo Pepsi and Shirlie, and was also a Wham! backing vocalist – about once coming close to ending his own life.
He said: “It’s really hard and it’s hard for me to tell you this…
“I thought about going to the train station and jumping in front of a train. I’m sorry I never told you that.”

Matt Hancock to face his third Bushtucker Trial

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Hancock is set to face his third Bushtucker Trial since joining ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’.
The 44-year-old politician – who was the UK’s health secretary during the COVID-19 pandemic – will join pop star Boy George when they head to La Cucaracha Cafe on the next episode of the ITV show.
On Thursday, Matt took on the Tentacles of Terror trial and managed to collect 11 stars for himself and his campmates.
The controversial politician held his breath underwater and stuck his hand into a cage of lobsters, as he went in search of the stars.
But despite his impressive effort, Matt was still selected for the next Bushtucker Trial.
Elsewhere, Matt was also questioned by TV presenter Scarlette Douglas about his affair with Gina Coladangelo during the pandemic.
Matt breached social distancing rules during the affair and Scarlette described his behaviour in his ministerial office as a “slap in the face” for the public.
She said: “It was hard. A lot of people had difficult times. And then to see that people that had kind of set the rules had then broken them, I think was a big slap in the face for everyone.”
Scarlette also warned Matt that he might not be embraced by his campmates because of his past behaviour.
She explained: “There’s a lot of things that happened with you during the times, which does make it difficult because people are angry and upset – emotions are running high.
“We are not going to ever exclude anyone. We want to make sure that everyone’s a family, but if it does feel tough for the first few days, I’m sure you understand why.”

Olivia Attwood in talks to host Big Brother

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Attwood has been in talks to host ‘Big Brother’.
The former ‘Love Island’ star – who was forced to quit ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ after just 24 hours this week – was seen as a “natural fit” to present the revamped reality show when ITV2 bring it back next year and producers view the 31-year-old beauty as a “contender” for the job, though she faces stiff competition from a number of other famous women.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Olivia met with ITV2 bosses for talks to host Big Brother earlier in the Autumn. She was one of many presenters who have had meetings about the gig.
“It’s one of the most sought-after jobs in the industry right now so it will be a very competitive role to get, but she wanted to throw her hat in the ring and producers definitely see her as a contender.
“She’d be a natural fit the role – she’s sassy and fun, but also very straight-talking so she wouldn’t be shy of giving any housemates who misbehave a grilling when they are eliminated.
“Olivia has also become a real face of ITV2, not only with ‘Love Island’ but her successful documentaries, so it was no surprise bosses wanted to meet with her about the gig.”
Other names in the frame to host the show – which has previously been presented by Davina McCall, Brian Dowling, and Emma Willis – include Vick Hope, Emily Atack and Roman Kemp.
A source said: “Emily and Vick have emerged as the favourites.
“A huge list was drawn up with a number of big-name stars on it, including Davina.
“However there is a feeling bringing in a fresh face would be good for the reboot.”
ITV insisted they have yet to settle on a presenter.
A spokesperson said: “All suggestions surrounding the host are pure speculation.”

Gemma Collins reveals her cost of living fears

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins is using candles at home to help offset the rising cost of living.
The 41-year-old TV star is rumoured to be worth millions, but Gemma is still feeling the pinch of the cost of living crisis.
She shared: “I might be the GC but I am even in the cost of living crisis. I am literally turning all my lights off. It’s not a joke.”
Gemma is concerned about the potential impact of the ongoing crisis.
However, she’s also determined to enjoy Christmas, saying it’ll be a particularly “special” day this year.
The reality star told The Sun newspaper: “When I am watching the news and see people losing their houses and freezing cold. This is serious.
“I am really trying to do my bit this year. That is why Christmas is going to be so special because we are all sort of up against it and f*** presents.”
Meanwhile, Gemma recently revealed that she was left feeling “shocked and embarrassed” when her bank accounts were frozen.
The outspoken star revealed that her assets were cut off and she “cried on the phone” to the bank when she was trying to buy a property in 2020.
Gemma – who shot to fame on ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ – said: “This happened to me two years ago. The shock, the embarrassment, I couldn’t sleep, I felt sick, I felt like I was dodgy, like ‘am I a criminal?’
“You know what, the guy at the end of the phone, I was so distressed, I was crying on the phone, I was saying, ‘I’m going to lose my house, I’m going to lose my house.’ They are reading from a script, no emotion, telling you, ‘Go into the branch.'”

Ryan Coogler learned to swim for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Coogler learned to swim for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.
The 36-year-old filmmaker felt it was important he also got comfortable in the water after several cast members had to learn to free dive for the vast number of underwater scenes in the film, which are based around antagonist Namor (Tenoch Huerta), the ruler of deep-sea land Talokan.
Ryan told Variety: “A lot of us were raised to have fear of water. I had to figure out how to swim so I could direct this movie.
“It’s a lot of Black and Mesoamerican folks in water in this movie.”
Before making the film, Ryan’s swimming prowess was enough to know how to “stay alive” so he found it very rewarding to learn to swim more skilfully and even to free dive.
He said: “I remember it was a wild feeling, like I can’t believe I’m this deep in water. Then I started to work on the breath hold and got comfortable.”
The director is particularly “excited for people to see” what Angela Bassett and Letitia Wright learned to do “in the water” for their roles in the film.
He added: “I was just impressed by how much stunt work they all did, how everybody showed up ready to go, ready to learn how to free dive.”
Both Angela and co-star Lupita Nyong’o admitted they weren’t very strong swimmers before they started work on the sequel either.
Angela said: “You know, Black girls have this history with water and their hair.
“Some of us can’t swim all that well, because it’s going to mess up that press and curl. It’s a whole thing.”
Lupita added: “Before we started this film, I knew how to swim, but I wasn’t a confident swimmer. I didn’t need to swim in public, that’s for sure. That’s a lifelong skill that I now have.”
According to the outlet, both actresses trained to the point where they can now both hold their breath underwater for around two minutes.
