BBC to air Detectorists and Motherland Christmas specials

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Detectorists’ is to return for a new special episode.
The BBC comedy – which stars Mackenzie Crook and Toby Jones as metal detecting enthusiasts Andy and Lance, who are part of the The Danebury Metal Detecting Club (DMDC) – will be back for a 75-minute episode, which will air on BBC Two and iPlayer, five years after the end of the third series.
The show’s return will see the DMDC in trouble, with developers sniffing around their scout hall HQ.
But Lance looks set to save the day after securing 10 actress of prime, undetected land, only for him to break protocol, which threatens his friendship with Andy.
Mackenzie, who also executive produced the festive special, recently said: “It was 2017 when we were last in Danebury and I miss my old friends in the DMDC [Danebury Metal Detecting Club].
“I’ve had a story percolating for a while and I thought it was worth getting Lance, Andy and the rest of the band back together for.
“The affection expressed for ‘Detectorists’ over the years has been incredible and I hope fans of the show will enjoy this new, extended episode.”
What’s more, BBC Two sitcom ‘Motherland’ – written by Sharon Horgan – is heading to BBC One for a festive special, ‘Motherland: Last Christmas’.
Anna Maxwell Martin will reprise her role as busy mum Julia, who has a full house for Christmas, including her divorcee dad pal Kevin (Paul Ready).
Liz (Diane Morgan) also turns up to Julia’s when her ex cancels following a massive Christmas Eve bender, letting her down on his first ever offer to host.

Everything Everywhere All At Once wins big at Gotham Awards

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ was the big winner at this year’s Gotham Awards.
The comedy-drama film – which stars Michelle Yeoh and Jamie Lee Curtis – scooped the Best Feature accolade at the ceremony, which took place at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on Monday evening (28.11.22), and Ke Huy Quan won the Outstanding Supporting Performance prize.
Quan – who returned to acting in 2021 after a 20-year hiatus – said in his acceptance speech: “Wow, this is incredible. This time last year, all I was hoping for was just a job. And just when I think that it can’t get any better, it does. What an incredible honour.
“Thank you to Jamie Lee Curtis for helping me find my confidence when I needed it the most. I feel so lucky to be a part of this family.
“Oftentimes it is in independent films where actors who otherwise wouldn’t get a chance, find their opportunities. I was that actor.
“For the very first time in a very very long time, I was given a second chance, and for that I owe them everything.”
Michelle Williams and Adam Sandler won the Performer Tribute awards.
Sandler read out a speech written for him by his daughters, Sadie, 16, and Sunny, 14.
He read: “Dear well-dressed dignitaries, highly educated hipsters and various other plus-ones of the Gotham Awards, thank you for giving our daddy, Mr. Adam Sandler, this prestigious lifetime, all-time, primetime G.O.A.T. achievement tribute award.
“While daddy is with you tonight, we’re doing everything we’re not allowed to do when daddy is home, like eat his Yodels or try on his Spanx or, dare we say, laugh out loud at Ben Stiller movies.
“The last time daddy caught us chuckling away at the ‘Meet the Parents’ trilogy, he immediately stormed into the room he calls ‘The Screaming Room’, which we just call ‘the shower,’ and bellowed out the phrase, ‘Only the Sandman makes people laugh. F*** every other comedian.’
Williams paid tribute to Mary Beth Peil, who played her ‘Dawson’s Creek’ character Jen Lindley’s grandmother, Evelyn ‘Grams’ Ryan.
She said: “I was an emancipated minor when we met, I was 16 years old and totally alone. Mary Beth Peil was the very first artist that I had ever met in my life.
“I wasn’t an artist, a mother, or even a high school graduate … honestly I was barely even a Michelle, I had just gotten people to stop calling me Shelly, but now I was Mary Beth’s girl, and that made me somebody.
“I wouldn’t have known how to handle being Steven Spielberg’s mother without having been Mary Beth’s granddaughter, so thank you Mary Beth and thank you Gotham Awards.”

Will Smith can understand why audiences may snub Emancipation

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Smith can understand if audiences do not want to watch ‘Emancipation’ following his Oscars slap.
The 54-year-old actor stars in Antoine Fuqua’s slavery biopic in what marks his first major project since he slapped the comedian Chris Rock at the Academy Awards earlier this year and is aware that his actions may cloud judgements of the movie.
Will told journalist Kevin McCarthy: “I completely understand – if someone is not ready, I would absolutely respect that and allow them their space to not be ready.
“My deepest concern is my team – Antoine has done what I think is the greatest work of his entire career.”
The ‘Men in Black’ actor hopes that the cast and crew of ‘Emancipation’ are not punished for his actions at the Oscars.
He said: “The people on this team have done some of their best work of their entire careers, and my deepest hope is that my actions don’t penalise my team.
“At this point, that’s what I’m working for. I’m hoping that the material – the power of the film, the timeliness of the story – I’m hoping that the good that can be done would open people’s hearts at a minimum to see and recognise and support the incredible artists in and around this film.”
Fuqua recently suggested that Will’s controversy should not overshadow the film’s important plot.
The director said: “The film to me is bigger than that moment. Four hundred years of slavery is bigger than one moment.
“My hope is that people will see it that way and watch the movie and be swept away with the great performance by Will and all the real hard work that the whole crew did.”

Kevin Spacey cast in indie film Control

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Spacey has been cast in the indie film ‘Control’.
The disgraced actor, who is set to appear in court in the UK over multiple charges of sexual assault next summer, will feature in a voice-only role in the thriller as the main antagonist.
The film is written and directed by Gene Fallaize and follows the British home secretary (Lauren Metcalfe) as she drives home one night while engaging in a secret love affair with the Prime Minister (Mark Hampton).
Meanwhile, another man – played by Spacey – knows her secret and has been badly affected by it. He seeks revenge by plotting to remotely hijack her fully self-driving car, forcing her on a rampage through the streets of London using the car she’s trapped in as a deadly weapon.
Adam Southwick and Emily Hasseldine are to produce ‘Control’ for Cupsogue Pictures in association with CineNorth Studios.
Filming is underway and will continue into early 2023 at Camberwell Studios and on location in London.
It was recently revealed that Kevin is facing seven more criminal charges over alleged sexual assaults against a man during the 2000s.
The fresh charges were announced by the Crown Prosecution Service earlier this month with the alleged assaults taking place between 2001 and 2004.
Rosemary Ainslie, Head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said: “The CPS has authorised additional criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 63, for a number of alleged sexual assaults against one man between 2001 and 2004.
“The CPS has also authorised one charge of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent. The authority to charge follows a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in its investigation.”

Encanto taken to ‘whole new level’ with Hollywood Bowl concert

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Encanto’ has been taken to a “whole new level” with a Hollywood Bowl concert.
The 2021 animated Disney movie – which tells the story of an extraordinary family who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia and features hit songs such as ‘Dos Oruguitas’ and ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’ – was performed with a full orchestra at the LA amphitheatre earlier this month ahead of a Disney+ release, using projection mapping, screen visuals and broadcast graphics created by NorthHouse.
In a statement, Creative Director and Founder of NorthHouse, Tom Bairstow said: “I could instantly tell this was gonna be such an epic show for both the live audience and the audience watching from home on Disney+. We wanted to take this to a whole new level and bring several layers of visuals, graphics, and VFX to the performance. We also wanted to bring another layer of visuals to the show for the broadcast audience and worked with All of it Now who created the augmented reality visuals.”
NorthHouse – who was the team behind the projection for Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations earlier this year at Buckingham Palace – collaborated with ‘All of it Now’, who provided augmented reality for the project, and also teamed up with production company Fulwell73 as well as director Chris Howe and Tom added that the entire team wanted to give the smash hit Disney musical the “homecoming it deserves.”
He said: “I came out to L.A. for meetings and workshops with the Fulwell73 and Disney teams. A few weeks later, we presented our initial designs and it was incredible to feel such excitement from the whole team, including Byron and Jared the film’s directors. They were so excited about creating the homecoming this film finally deserves. Staying true to the film’s Colombian culture and aesthetic whilst breaking out into more explorative aesthetics in many other moments. It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Disney, Fulwell73 and an all-star creative team on this show.
“We can’t wait for everyone to see just how awesome this show truly is. The response in the bowl was absolutely incredible. So many kids and adults’ faces were lit up with sheer joy, plus, I’m getting maximum points with my two boys, for working with Disney on one of their favourite films!”
Conductor Anthony Parnther led the live full orchestra performing the film’s score live-to-picture, along with the cast and special guest artists performing the songs live.
Encanto at the Hollywood Bowl, a Disney+ original special, will stream on Disney+ starting December 28th.

Adam Henson undergoes hip operation

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Henson has undergone a hip operation.
The ‘Countryfile’ presenter has gone under the knife to have damaged surfaces of the bones inside his hip joint removed and replaced, and it has made him feel for those who have gone through “an awful lot worse”.
Speaking in a pre-recorded clip which aired on ‘Countryfile’, he said: “It’s now been pretty much 12 hours since I had my hip resurfacing operation.
“The feeling in my legs and waist have all come back now, pretty much my right leg, which is the leg I had done, is still a bit tingly and a bit weird.
“I’ve never really had surgery quite like this before, it does make me feel for all those people that have gone through things an awful lot worse.”
The 56-year-old star – who runs the Cotswold Farm Park in Gloucestershire, which his father started – admitted he is fortunate to have a “strong team” who can do the work in his absence, as he recovers from his operation.
He added: “I’m very lucky to have a strong team on the farm who can do all the work. In three or four weeks’ time, hopefully, I’ll be back out and about.
“It’s made me think and reflect, how do farmers get over injury or illness?”
Adam recently admitted he made a royal faux pas during a lunch with the late Queen Elizabeth – who passed away in September aged 96 – at Buckingham Palace.
He explained: “What I didn’t know, and what hadn’t been explained, is when you sit down with the royals, if they turn to the right or the left they have that conversation with that person, usually for one course. Then they will turn the other way.
“Whichever way the queen turns, everyone else turns the opposite and then everyone is having a conversation with everyone. And so to start off with she was speaking to the person to my right and I went through the whole course not speaking to her at all.
“I just didn’t know the etiquette so I wasn’t quite sure if she was ever going to talk to me. So then when we got to the next course I blurted out a question to her.
“She said, ‘Adam, like you, I love my farm animals, and I love my dogs and I love the countryside.’ And I think that came from the heart.
“We then had a very easy, comfortable conversation about all the things that I love, and she seemed to love too.
“We talked about the dogs, we talked about the farms and the cattle. I had recently bought a Highland Bull from Balmoral and she said to me, ‘How’s Archie, the bull?’ -I was just astounded, really.”

Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee in shock at Martin Scorsese revelation

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Derry Girls’ Creator Lisa McGee has joked she nearly “dropped dead” at discovering Martin Scorsese is a big fan of the show.
The Oscar-winning director – who’s behind big motion pictures such as ‘Goodfellas’, ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ and ‘Taxi Driver’ – let it slip that he has watched the Channel 4 sitcom.
The Irish screenwriter, 42, took to Twitter to share a clip of Scorsese talking about the show at the Economic Club of Chicago’s annual black-tie dinner.
In the footage, the 80-year-old filmmaker says: “I watched, the other night, Derry Girls? Those nuns!”
Lisa captioned the clip: “Excuse me while I drop dead and actually die a death.”
Siobhan McSweeney, who plays Sister Michael in the series, also shared her disbelief.
She tweeted: “Good morning. I’m ded (sic)”
Comedian Dara O Briain wrote: “And that’s it, you win. Shut it down, people, we have a winner.”
Author David Nicholls added: “Oh my God! The dream. Congratulations, Lisa!”
The teen sitcom, which aired for three seasons from 2018 to 2022, follows the life of four Catholic school girls during the mid 90s, as they attend Our Lady Immaculate College run by a set of nuns in Derry.
It was inspired by Lisa’s own experience growing up in Northern Ireland during the final years of The Troubles.
The show, which is now available on Netflix, grew in popularity over the three series and was praised for offering new perspective of The Troubles, a period of violent conflict in Northern Ireland that lasted from late 1960s to 1998.

Claudia Winkleman: Life changed for the better when I said yes more

OHMYGOSSIP — Claudia Winkleman says her life changed for the better when she started to say “yes” more.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ co-host turned 50 years old in January, and after hitting the milestone the star realised she wanted to work more and be “less risk-averse”.
She said: “I turned 50 and thought I’d start saying yes to things.
“I mean, it’s 50, and we’re only here for two minutes, so I felt like I wanted to work a bit more and be less risk-averse.
“I love it, I love being 50. Everything’s falling apart physically, it is like my skin is completely made of crepe paper now, who knew?”
Claudia is concerned nobody will like her new BBC psychological reality show ‘The Traitors’ – which begins on Tuesday night (29.11.22) at 9.30pm – but admits she became “really obsessed” with the programme.
She added to The Sun newspaper: “I’ve always just really liked playing bridge, and a heavy tog duvet. And at 50 you can do all of that and you don’t have to make any excuses. You’re no longer the odd one out.
“But then my eldest left home for university and I was asked to do this show and I just thought, ‘I just can’t say no’.
“I got in way too deep on that show. I’m really obsessed, but also worried nobody’s going to like it. It’s like giving birth again.”
In May, it was confirmed Claudia would be heading to the Scottish Highlands to present ‘The Traitors’, a new show based on a Dutch format which will see players complete physical and mental missions for a chance to win up to £120,000.
In the show, she will choose a small number of contestants to become ‘The Traitors’, who will “murder” a teammate every night but face eviction if caught out the next day.
In a statement, Claudia said: “I’m obsessed by psychological games and I couldn’t stop watching the Dutch version of the show. The fact that the BBC version is set in a castle in Scotland and the producers want me to wear tweed meant I was all in.”
At the end of the game the cash prize will only be won if the remaining contestants are all on team Faithful, but if a Traitor has managed to reach the final of the game, they alone will win the cash and the others will leave with nothing.

Owen Warner: Babatunde Aleshe and Boy George helped me out of low place in jungle

OHMYGOSSIP — Owen Warner has told how Boy George and Babatunde Aleshe helped him get out of a “low place” on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ actor almost ended up “in a bit of a pit” on the ITV show, but he felt able to talk about his feelings when he heard his campmate Babatunde saying similar things to George in the jungle.
He said: “To be told you have got to stay in one place, you can only eat a certain amount of food and you can’t talk to anyone but the people around you – it hits you.
“If you are in a low place and you don’t share that with people and you don’t tell people that you are feeling that way, so that they can help you, you could end up in a bit of a pit – and that is what I almost did.
“It was only when I heard Baba talking to George saying that he had been feeling like that, I was like, ‘Mate, I have been feeling like that as well.’
“The fact that he had spoken to George helped me and I hadn’t even spoken about how I felt.
“But I knew that he was going through that as well and instantly I was up and it was like: ‘Right, sound, I am not on my own.’ That moment alone, that taught me so much.”
Despite having low moments, Owen – who lost 15lbs during his time in camp – had an “amazing” time in the jungle, but he hadn’t thought about how much he might miss food and his family before he took part in the show.
He added to The Sun newspaper: “It was amazing there but it was very, very, hard. I went into it with a mentality that I am going to breeze it.
“I thought, ‘I am an athletic geezer, I can do the challenges,’ I didn’t think about the food that much, I didn’t think about the missing the family aspect.”

Anne Robinson: I should have waited to reveal my facelift on TV

OHMYGOSSIP — Anne Robinson regrets unveiling her facelift on TV too early.
The 78-year-old TV presenter was trolled online after going under the knife while hosting hit BBC game show ‘The Weakest Link’ from 2000 to 2012.
Anne, who was 60 at the time, confessed her plastic surgery regret was not allowing it to rest and going back on TV shortly after.
She said: “When you have cosmetic surgery it is a bit like taking a leg of lamb out of the oven. You have to let it rest for a bit.
“I went on television quite quickly afterwards and it was a famous headline which said ‘This face is the Weakest Link’ as it was quite blown up.”
But Anne was glad she didn’t deny the plastic surgery rumours in 2004.
She added: “I think you are only as sick as your secrets. It is very hard to be pretending you have not had a facelift.
“When I was first on television there were quite a few presenters who were the same age as me and now they are all younger. It seems easier to just be open about it.”
Last year, Anne joined Channel 4’s ‘Countdown’ as the new host but stepped down in July after a year.
Speaking to Angela Scanlon on TV show ‘Ask Me Anything’, she said: “I tried to be nice on ‘Countdown’.
“I loved it but nothing was ever going to be as wonderful as ‘The Weakest Link’ or being a newspaper journalist. I probably made a mistake thinking I could replicate it on another game show.
“[‘Countdown’] is a brilliant show but it does not really require a smart-a*** presenter.
“Viewers see one show a day but I used to do five Countdowns a day. That is quite a lot to get through.”

Home Alone voted UK’s favourite Christmas film of all time

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Home Alone’ has been voted as the UK’s favourite Christmas movie of all time.
The 1990 movie took 19 per cent of the vote in a nationwide study carried out by Showcase Cinemas ahead of the festive period and beat out competition from Will Ferrell’s classic comedy ‘Elf’ (14 per cent) and ‘Love Actually’ (13 per cent).
In a closely fought race to be named the UK’s favourite film character from a Christmas movie, Will Ferrell’s performance as Buddy the Elf saw him land top spot with one in five choosing the elf as their character of choice.
Macaulay Culkin’s performance as Kevin McCallister (17 per cent) in ‘Home Alone’ landed in second place while ‘Die Hard’ action hero John McClane (15 per cent) rounded out the top three.
In terms of actors playing Santa Claus, the late Richard Attenborough’s portrayal in the 1994 remake of ‘Miracle on 34th Street’ was chosen as Britain’s favourite – taking over a quarter of the vote (26 per cent).
Kurt Russell (20 per cent) finished in second place after playing Santa in the 2018 film ‘The Christmas Chronicles’ while Tom Hanks (18 per cent) was third after voicing Father Christmas in animated flick ‘The Polar Express’.
In the survey’s most controversial finding, more than one in five participants claim that ‘Die Hard’ is not a Christmas film.
To celebrate the Christmas period, Showcase Cinemas will be screening a range of festive favourites at cinemas across the UK.
A Showcase Cinemas spokesperson said: “Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year when it comes to the cinema. There are so many iconic films and moments from festive films throughout the years and ‘Home Alone’ is a deserving winner in our nationwide poll.
“Our survey revealed that watching Christmas movies is one of the UK’s favourite things at this time of year, so we’re delighted to be screening a few festive flashbacks on our screens across the country.
“Whether its family favourites such as ‘The Polar Express’ or the evergreen ‘Die Hard’, guests can come along and get in the Christmas spirit with a classic film screening in the lead up to the big day.”

Rian Johnson hopes to make third Knives Out film soon

OHMYGOSSIP — Rian Johnson is hoping to make a third ‘Knives Out’ film “as quickly as possible”.
Producer Ram Bergman has worked with the filmmaker on both movies in the murder mystery franchise and suggested that a third movie is a priority but will be a “tough challenge”.
Ram told ComicBook.com: “Well, it’s a good question. The first one, (Johnson) had the idea for years in his head, but he only put pen to paper like late January and by the end of October we were filming it, which is super fast.
“This movie, he really did not have an idea. He just stopped thinking and we were… From the moment he started really writing it, like, nine months later, a year later, we were filming.
“So, the good thing, he is very motivated to go do the next one as quickly as possible. But, you know, we’ll see how fast he is but this is gonna be a challenge. It’s gonna be a bigger challenge. So we’ll see how long it’s gonna take.”
Rian confessed that he is yet to start writing the third film and needs to work out both a plot and a setting for Daniel Craig’s sleuth Benoit Blanc to crack his next case.
The 48-year-old director said: “Oh God, I mean, I have to, I still have to start writing ‘Knives Out 3’.
“I gotta figure out what the next Benoit Blanc mystery is, what it’s called, where it’s set. So, I got a lot of work to do. So, TBD, I don’t wanna give myself a deadline yet cause I definitely won’t meet it.”

Georgia Kousoulou planning to get pregnant next year

OHMYGOSSIP — Georgia Kousoulou and Tommy Mallett are hoping to add to their brood next year.
The couple nearly split up over Tommy’s undiagnosed ADHD, which he finally got help for, and now they are stronger than ever and their wedding is back on, with the ‘TOWIE’ stars hoping to tie the knot abroad in 2024 or 2025.
Georgia, 31, admits she’d like to have her second child before she gets hitched.
Speaking to OK!, she said: “I would like another. I need to get a bit of a plan in action if I want to get married in 2024 or 2025. Ideally, I’d have the baby before that. I don’t want a massive gap [in age after Brody]. Please God, I’ll get pregnant within the next year. That would be great.”
And she’s hoping their 18-month-old son Brody will get a big sister, and even has their roles planned out for the couple’s big day.
She said: “I would love a girl. I keep saying, ‘My next baby is a girl.’ Everyone’s like, ‘You can’t say that.’ I’m like, ‘I can.’ You have to talk it into existence – ‘I know I’m going to have a girl, I know I’m having a girl.’ It’ll be really cute to have Brody as the little pageboy and her as a flower girl.”
And though she has set her heart on a Majorca wedding, Georgia won’t rule out a UK ceremony if a venue takes her fancy.
She said: “I don’t see myself getting married here [in the UK]. I think Majorca will be the place. We’ve got a house there and it’s stunning. I need to look at venues over here as well. I can’t 100 per cent rule out a UK wedding. I could see one and be like, ‘Wow!’ but I need that feeling. I’m going by my gut.”
The pair’s show ‘Georgia And Tommy: Baby Steps’ returns to ITVBe this week for a new series, and viewers will see Tommy get his ADHD diagnosis.
He said: “This is going to be a big series and it’s going to help a lot of people so I’m over the moon about it. When I first got the diagnosis I thought, ‘Well, I’m not just mad.'”
Georgia added: “I’m so happy we filmed it all. When we got offered the series, we were deep in it. We all thought we’d be talking about wedding stuff as we got offered a new series around that, but we had to be honest. We could have filmed this series like, ‘Here’s all our wedding stuff,’ but that would’ve been a lie. You’d see the cracks. When we agreed to do this series it was real life and I’m not here to show a perfect life. It’s our reality. Life is hard at times.”

Kim Woodburn believes Matt Hancock’s political career is done and dusted

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Woodburn believes Matt Hancock’s political career is “finished” after his ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ stint.
The former Health Secretary came third on the ITV reality show and surprised viewers with how well he did in the trials, despite his partaking in the celebrity competition being met with controversy over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
And the reality TV legend – who was a runner-up on the 2009 series – has no doubt the MP will earn lots of money from showbiz, but she doesn’t think he’ll have a political career to fall back on if work dries up.
Writing for Metro, she said: “I do think he’s going to be offered a lot of work on television and at speakers’ agencies. He’ll make a few bob for a few years. But I hope he can make it quite a good career, because politically, I think he’s finished.
“You do feel torn though because, surprisingly, as I say, he did well in the challenges and you’ve got to give him credit. He did every single star and never complained. He had some vile things to do, but it won’t make up for what he’s done. And I think he honestly thought he had a chance of winning.”
The cleaner insisted Hancock, 44, would never have been crowned King of the Jungle because of how “disgraceful” he has acted.
She said: “I said at the beginning and I say now, he had no hope of winning. I’m sorry, the public would never let him win because of what he’s done. He’s done the dirty on his public. He’s done the dirty on his family. No lovey, too much horrible history for him to have ever won that.
“Had he not had the history and had he not been sitting, I think he would have had a good chance of winning because he was darn good. But I’m afraid what he’s done to his constituents and what he’s done as a politician has been so disgraceful that there was no chance the public would forgive that, my love. There was no chance.”
Hancock was suspended by the Conservative party earlier this month after it was announced that he would be appearing on the programme.
Adulterous Hancock was forced to resign as Health Secretary in June 2021 for breaking his own social distancing guidelines after he was caught kissing aide and now-girlfriend Gina.
Former Lioness Jill Scott, 35, was crowned Queen of the Jungle.
‘Hollyoaks’ star Owen Warner, 23, came second.

Hamza Yassin to land own nature show

OHMYGOSSIP — Hamza Yassin is to land his own nature show.
The 32-year-old wildlife cameraman has proven a hit with viewers on this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ so BBC bosses are keen to offer him his own mainstream series in order to take advantage of his popularity.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “He’s been nothing short of a sensation on Strictly this year, coming from being a virtual unknown to becoming a huge favourite among viewers and judges alike.
“That’s why he’s invariably been near the top of the scoreboard every week and has never been in the dance-off.
“But his popularity is as much to do with his personality and humility as anything else — and that’s what bosses are keen to develop further.”
The CBeebies star has previously worked on nature shows for the BBC and Channel 4 including ‘Animal Park’ and ‘Scotland: Escape to the Wilderness’, but ‘Strictly’ host Claudia Winkleman recently revealed she didn’t know who he was when he signed up for the Latin and ballroom contest.
Asked if she knows who all the celebrities on the show are, she said: “It doesn’t matter. I mean, I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t know Hamza. Hamza, by the way, I am going to steal.”
Asked if she really wants to have an affair with Hamza, she exclaimed: “No, of course not! No, no! It’s leaving a pan in the sink for somebody else to wash. It’s the same level. Not fine. Entitlement on any level is wrong.”
Hamza – who is partnered by Jowita Przystal on the show – recently revealed he has lost a lot of weight while training for the show.
He said: “I’ve lost a lot of weight already, around 6.5kg [1.02-stone], which is unheard of really.
“But if you’re training nine hours a day you kind of get that. It’s hard.
“Everything just aches and aches. With the foxtrot my knees ached, then it was my knees and my lower back for the jive, and this week it’s a hard dance.”
“These guys [the professional dancers] have been doing it for 12 to 15 years and we have to come to their standards in four days.
“We [the celebrities] are never going to get to their standards, but we still have to learn the basics and do a show and perform and deliver it on a Saturday.
“It’s kind of crazy, but I’m absolutely enjoying it.”

Samuel L Jackson weighs in on Quentin Tarantino’s Marvel comments

OHMYGOSSIP — Samuel L. Jackson has hit back at Quentin Tarantino, after the director took aim at the “Marvel-isation of Hollywood”.
The 73-year-old actor has played Nick Fury in 11 Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films, and he has challenged Tarantino’s comments that the main character in such superhero movies is “the star” rather than the actor.
Speaking on ‘The View’, he said: “It takes an actor to be those particular characters, and the sign of movie stardom has always been, what, a**** in seats? What are we talking about?
“That’s not a big controversy for me to know that apparently these actors are movie stars. Chadwick Boseman is Black Panther. You can’t refute that, and he’s a movie star.”
Last week, ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ director Tarantino lamented the fact there are “no real movie stars” anymore and blamed the fact that “franchise characters” in superhero movies are what become celebrated, not the talent of the actors bringing them to life.
He said: “Part of the Marvel-isation of Hollywood is… you have all these actors who have become famous playing these characters, but they’re not movie stars. Right? Captain America is the star. Or Thor is the star. I mean, I’m not the first person to say that. I think that’s been said a zillion times … but it’s like, you know, it’s these franchise characters that become a star.”
The 59-year-old filmmaker insisted he doesn’t “hate” Marvel films but admitted he is frustrated that the comic book genre has overshadowed any other movies being made in the modern age.
He said: “Look, I used to collect Marvel comics like crazy when I was a kid.
“There’s an aspect that if these movies were coming out when I was in my twenties, I would totally be f****** happy and totally love them.
“I mean, they wouldn’t be the only movies being made. They would be those movies amongst other movies. But, you know, I’m almost 60, so yeah. No, I’m not quite as excited about them.
“My only axe to grind against them is they’re the only things that seem to be made.
“And they’re the only things that seem to generate any kind of excitement amongst a fan base or even for the studio making them. That’s what they’re excited about.
“And so it’s just the fact that they are the entire representation of this era of movies right now. There’s not really much room for anything else. That’s my problem.”
