EastEnders’ Jo Joyner stars in new psychological thriller

OHMYGOSSIP — Jo Joyner has signed up to star in a new psychological thriller.
The 45-year-old actress is best known for playing the roles of Tanya Branning in the BBC soap opera ‘EastEnders’ and Mandy Carter in Channel 4 school drama ‘Ackley Bridge’ but has reportedly taken on the part of a woman whose life is turned upside down in upcoming series ‘Under My Skin.’
A source told The Daily Star newspaper: “Jo is playing a woman who has the perfect family life on paper, with a loving husband and two beautiful version. But like any other family, there are cracks in their perfect veneer.”
Little else is known about the upcoming drama series but the firner ‘Waterloo Road’ actress is said to be featuring alongside ‘Hollyoaks’ star Rachel Shenton – who played Mitzeee Minniver on the Channel 4 soap – and it will be filmed in Malta before airing on Channel 5 next year.
The news comes shortly after it was revealed that the broadcaster is also set to air a new drama titled ‘Heat’, which will star ‘EastEnders’ actor Danny Dyer , who announced earlier this year that he had quit his role as Mick Carter after nine years.
He said: “I can’t wait to get amongst this beautiful piece of work in Australia. I’ve always been intrigued
about working there. It’s my first gig since ‘EastEnders’. ‘Heat’ has a powerful, dark script and strong Australian cast and crew. Let’s have it!”
The show is set during Australian bushfire season, with two families heading to a secluded property for a summer holiday, only for secrets and lies to begin to unravel.
Channel 5 began to launch original drama series back in 2019 with ‘Cold Call’ – which starred ex-‘Corrie’ actress Sally Lindsay as a woman who falls victim to a scam phone call – and earlier this year received acclaim for ‘The Teacher’, which saw Sheridan Smith star as a secondary school teacher caught up in a sex crime allegation.

Nick Knowles is making a ‘greater effort’ with his youngest son after missing out with older kids

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Knowles is making a “greater effort” with his youngest son after “missing out” with his older kids.
The 60-year-old TV star is dad to eight-year-old Eddie with ex-wife Jessica Moor but also has three grown-up children from previous relationships and explained that balancing work and family is the “most difficult” thing to find.
He said: “It’s the most difficult thing in modern life to weigh up the amount you work to improve their lifestyles versus missing your children grow up. I’m not sure I got that right with my older children, I was probably away too much. So I’m making a greater effort now with my eight-year-old.”
The ‘DIY: SOS’ presenter – who is now in a relationship with Katie Dadzie – went on to explain that although he has been away filming since August, he enjoyed regular Zoom calls with the little one before adding that his elder children are all “doing well” but admitted that none of them want to follow in his footsteps.
He told The Daily Mirror newspaper: “I’ve been away filming since August, but all the time I was away we had Zoom calls, saying hi, telling him where I was, sending pictures, him sending me messages as well, and seeing him as soon as I could, even though I’ve only had a few days back between each trip. Having said that, my older children are all doing great and are very happy. None of them want to go into TV, which is very sensible of them. Having an eight-year-old son at the age of 60 is the most wonderful thing in the world. It keeps you young, makes you see the world through new eyes. Nicola Roberts confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicola Roberts is the fifth celebrity contestant to be confirmed for the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Christmas special.
The Girls Aloud star, 37, has joined ‘Gavin and Stacey’ actor Larry Lamb, former ‘Coronation Street’ actress Alexandra Mardell, podcaster Rosie Ramsey and DJ Rickie Haywood-Williams in the line up for this year’s festive edition of the BBC ballroom competition.
She said: “It’s so interesting, I was in a meeting that morning and I woke up that day and thought ‘I want to do something really fun. What do adults do these days for fun that doesn’t involve partying?’ and I left the meeting and the call came in! I’m going to be doing the Waltz but I’ve never done ballroom dancing. It’s very technical which I’ve struggled with a little bit and I have to say I have newfound respect for all the celebrities that do this season in, season out. It doesn’t translate on a Saturday doing their dance. You don’t see the pain. And even in their VTs, the emotional side of it, the pressure that you put on yourself, the hours.
The former ‘Masked Singer’ contestant went on to reveal that she will be paired with Giovanni Pernice – who finished in 12th place with Richie Anderson in this year’s edition of the regular series – and even though she has “struggled” with learning ballroom, the professional has been a “great teacher.”
Speaking on ‘ The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show’ on Radio 2, she said: “You’re having to dance with someone who is a professional and it’s a lot but I’m with Giovanni. He’s a great teacher, he’s very persistent, I’ve struggled to maintain the position so for me it’s like my process. To be honest, I don’t like the learning process, I have never liked it. I need time to just let it marinate and I need time to sleep on it. But he doesn’t work that way! There’s been no tears but Wednesday’s rehearsals I might have been saying explosive things in my mind just to silently vent!”
Each of the couples will perform a Christmas inspired routine for judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas, and
the voting audience.
There are now only six celebrities still left in this year’s series of ‘Strictly’ – Fleur East, Hamza Yassin, Helen Skelton, Kym Marsh, Molly
Rainford and Will Mellor.
Comedian Ellie Taylor became the most recent star sent home when she and Johannes Radebe ended up in the bottom two on last week’s episode.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Christmas special will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Christmas Day.

Fleur East says Strictly has been ’emotionally challenging’

OHMYGOSSIP — Fleur East has admitted her experience on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ has been “emotionally challenging”.
The former pop star has been among the famous faces competing in the 2022 series of the hit BBC reality TV show and she’s admitted learning a new dance every week has taken a toll on her physically – but she wasn’t prepared for the emotional upheaval which hit her every time one of her fellow contestants was eliminated from the line-up.
Speaking to Jackie Brambles on her Greatest Hits Radio show, Fleur explained: “I usually get up at 4:30am for my Hits Radio Breakfast Show and I finish there about 11 before I train all day. Watching ‘Strictly’ at home, it looks easier than it feels – it’s been a lot more physically and emotionally challenging than I thought!”
Fleur said the dance-offs have been taking a toll on her emotionally and she cries every time someone goes home, adding: “The amount of times I’ve cried when people have left the competition… you get so close to everybody and it’s so unpredictable. It’s one thing you have to get used to because you never know who’s going to be in the bottom two.”
She went on to add of her daces: “Physically every week my body resets because we’re learning a new dance so the things that were aching me last week, aren’t aching me this week, it changes every single time!”
The singer went on to reveal she’s hoping to release new music next year. She’s played some of her new tracks to her dance partner Vito Coppola and even recruited him to star in one of her videos.
Fleur added: “There’s a lot more music coming from me! I’ve been really inspired this year and I’ve written some new songs and played them to Vito in rehearsals and got his approval. And I’ve booked him for my next music video so he’s all ready for that!’”

Emily Atack’s aunt joins Coronation Street

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Robbins has reportedly joined the cast of ‘Coronation Street.’
The 51-year-old actress – who is the aunt of ‘Celebrity Juice’ star Emily Atack – is said to have landed a role as Christine, the mother of established character Daisy Midgeley, on the ITV1 soap opera, and in insider teased that her arrival will “really shake things up” on the cobbles.
The source said: “Christine’s arrival will shake things up. It’s a great part and one Amy could not turn down. Being able to star in ‘Coronation Street’ is a huge deal for any actor or actress in the industry.”
Christine – who is the sister of Emily’s mum Kate Robbins – is mostly known for her role as Dr. Jill Weatherill in period medical drama series ‘The Royal’ but has also made appearances on soaps such as ‘Emmerdale’ and ‘Hollyoaks.’
However, even though she will only appear on ‘Corrie’ for a short time, the insider went on to explain that there is a “good chance” she will return depending upon how the storyline develops.
The insider told The Sun newspaper: “Though her character will initially only appear for a couple of months, there’s a good chance she may return as the mother-and-daughter story develops.”
Last year, Emily’s mother Kate – who came to prominence in the 1980s with top 10 hit ‘More Than In Love’ – enjoyed a stint on ‘Corrie’ rival ‘EastEnders’ as music agent Jen Glover and spoke of how “surreal” it was to be joining the BBC flagship.
She said: “I am so excited to be joining EastEnders as Jen, we had a ball filming the scenes. It was surreal to be sat in The Queen Vic for my first scenes with some of the legends of Albert Square. Working alongside the team was a dream and I can’t wait to see the scenes on screen.

Stranger Thing star David Harbour cried at the script for his new movie

OHMYGOSSIP — David Harbour “teared up” at the script for his new Christmas movie.
The 47-year-old actor – who is known for playing the role of Jim Hopper in the Netflix hit series ‘Stranger Things – is now starring in festive action-comedy ‘Violent Night’ as Santa Claus and explained that even though the movie was “really hard to get right”, it turned out to be “very special” in the end.
He said: “I thought that was really special, really unique. And when I read it in the script, it made me tear up at the end and I thought, “Wow, that’s special.” Because, a lot of scripts, it’s hard enough to get through them. This one I got through, and at the end in those scenes with him and her where he’s saying, “I better get going now,” it made me tear up and I was like, ‘Oh, this could be really special if we get it right.’ But I still, at that time, thought it was a big swing, and it was going to be real hard. We had to go to work real hard on it, and we did. But that was what made me want to do it, that it was so unique, and even though it was a big action movie, I got emotional at the end.”
The film – which sees mercenaries take a wealthy family hostage in their home but encounter resistance when St Nick arrives – required the ‘Black Widow’ star to learn to wrestle for its action scenes and he went on to explain that the training took “three or four hours” at a time.
He told Collider: ” We had a month of training in Winnipeg, and then we went home for Christmas, and then we came back in January, [and] had another month of prep to train. But for that month in December, I was already eating because I wanted him to be big, so I was eating a lot and I showed up at these training rehearsals with these guys. We were doing wrestling, mainly jui-jitsu and wrestling, and I don’t know if you’ve ever wrestled, I never had.
“You do this thing called pummeling in wrestling. Basically just grabbing a guy, and he grabs you, and you just do this for hours. And it is the most tiring and exhausting thing I have ever…. I’ve never been that tired in my life. We trained for about three or four hours a day, and then I would just go pass out and sleep like 16 hours and wake up in the morning and do it again. It was so exhausting. And these guys are so skilled, and they also make you look so good because they’re doing the reactions. So you’re just trying to keep up with their choreography. But they also were so sweet, they had endless energy and I was just exhausted.
But being able, at this age, to be paid to learn new disciplines and learn new things in life is such a gift.”
‘Violent Night’ is in cinemas now.

Tanya Bardsley: I think I’m premenopausal

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Real Housewives of Cheshire’ star Tanya Bardsley thinks she is premenopausal.
The media personality, 41, quit the series in 2019 after six years following a breakdown, and she was misdiagnosed with depression and anxiety for years before discovering she had attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in 2020.
Tanya has spoken about experiencing the negative side effects of ADHD medication and coming off them after fluctuating hormones, which she puts down to perimenopause, had a significant impact on her ADHD symptoms.
She said: “I’m not medicated now because I’m scared of the tablets.
“I haven’t found many women who have adapted to the ADHD medication very well. Women have lots of hormones and I don’t think they’ve made a tablet that’s right for me. And I think I’m premenopausal. I keep having mad sweats, my periods are messed up. Us women have it hard.”
Tanya – who is mum to Gabriella, 20, and shares Rocco, 13, Renz, nine, and Ralphi, six, with Burnley footballer Phil, 37 – was reunited with her ‘RHOC’ co-stars for a festive spin-off, ‘The Real Housewives Of Cheshire: Christmas Cruising’.
The star admits she has had to go “back to basics” during the recovery from her breakdown.
She added to new! magazine: “I’m getting there. I had to fully take everything out of my life and go back to basics. Phil put me in ‘Phil prison’ at first! I wasn’t allowed my phone because the breakdown was stress-related.
“I’m going to take my time and ease myself in. I’ll pop in now and again, but I’ve got to put being a mum first – which every mum knows can burn you out anyway, even with a normal brain.”
Since Tanya’s diagnosis, she’s become a spokesperson for sufferers of ADHD and opened up about her journey in a revealing and personal ITV documentary titled ‘Tanya Bardsley: Me and ADHD’.

Matt Hancock ‘underestimated scale of the reaction’ to taking part in I’m A Celebrity

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Hancock’s girlfriend has admitted he “underestimated the scale of the reaction” to him taking part in ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The former Health Secretary was suspended by the Conservative Party after it was revealed he had signed up to appear on the ITV show, and his former aide and now lover Gina Coladangelo – who he was caught kissing amid the COVID pandemic, breaking his own social distancing guidance – hoped he would do well in the jungle because he is “made of tough stuff”.
Matt went on to finish third in the series, behind runner-up Owen Warner and winner Jill Scott.
Speaking on the upcoming ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! The Coming Out Show’ ahead of Matt’s jungle exit, Gina said: “I think it’s fair to say that Matt underestimated the scale of the reaction to him coming into the jungle. He’s made of tough stuff, this summer we trekked around Mont Blanc together in four days.”
Ahead of the finale, Gina admitted she was “pleasantly surprised” to see him in the final three.
She said: “I thought Matt was leaving the jungle everyday so I am pleasantly surprised he’s made it this far.”
After Matt was voted out of the show, Gina told him: “You look amazing, I love you so much. I’m so sorry it’s been this long. It’s going to be great from here on in.”
In the car back to the hotel in Australia, Matt asked her if he was “authentically me”.
Gina replied: “It took a few days I felt for you to relax.”
Matt added: “When I was being grilled in the early days, I felt like people were asking me on behalf of the British public. I knew going in it would be controversial but I also know millions of people have voted for me.”
Elsewhere on the show, winner Jill admitted it was never her aim to win the series.
She said: “The aim was never to be Queen of the jungle, just to complete the journey.
“I still can’t believe it, it’s going to take a while for it to sink in.”
‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! The Coming Out Show’ airs tomorrow (01.11.22) at 9.15pm on ITV1 and ITV Hub.

The 42-year-old DJ and presenter and the already announced Rosie Ramsey will be two of the six celebrity contestants to take to the dancefloor for the festive special next month, and the former KISS FM breakfast show co-host can’t wait to take part.

“But here I am ready to go for it, sequins n’ all.”
Rickie will be paired with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional dancer Luba Mushtuk on the festive show.

Anya Taylor-Joy to cosplay as Princess Peach while promoting ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Anya Taylor-Joy has promised to cosplay as Princess Peach at the premieres of ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’.
The 26-year-old star will voice the character in the animated big-screen adaptation based on the iconic Nintendo video game series and is planning to dress as her alter ego during the press tour for the film.
Speaking to MTV, Anya said: “I’m really excited to tour it because I would like to, you know, do the getups and actually be Peach. That would be really fun.
“I’ll be wearing my crown. Yes, and just, you know, have little mushroom folk all around me.”
Princess Peach features in the trailer for the new movie – which has been directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic and is slated for release in April 2023.
Anya told a Nintendo Direct presentation on Tuesday (29.11.22): “I hope that you enjoy the movie as much as I enjoyed working on it.”
Chris Pratt will voice Mario in the film and considers the project to be a fulfillment of a “lifelong dream” and is looking forward to working with Jack Black – who is to voice the villain Bowser.
The 43-year-old actor said: “Growing up, man, I spent hours of my life stomping Koopas in the original ‘Mario Bros.’ arcade game at my local laundromat… It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to play Mario.
“That dream, like all dreams, faces one critical challenge as in the film: I must face off against an utterly ruthless scene-stealer. Every great hero needs a diabolical enemy and I promise you I could not have been paired with a more King of the Koopas, Bowser, my friend, the great and hilarious, supremely talented Jack Black!”

Antonio Banders will have ‘cameo’ role in Indiana Jones 5

OHMYGOSSIP — Antonio Banderas will only have a “little” role in ‘Indiana Jones 5’.
The 62-year-old actor has been cast in an undisclosed part in the upcoming action-adventure but has confirmed that he will have a minor part in the movie as a friend of Harrison Ford’s protagonist.
In an interview with Collider, Antonio said: “My character is very little; it’s almost a cameo… He’s just a friend of Indiana’s character, and he’s looking for him because he needs something from his friend.
“But he just takes up very little time of the movie, but very happy to be part of a saga that is of the history of motion pictures, obviously.”
Antonio was able to spend some time with Harrison during the making of the film and was full of praise for the legendary actor.
The ‘Spy Kids’ actor said: “Just the fact that I step on the set, for me, was important. And I got to tell you: I had a great time with Harrison. He’s a gentleman on the set and outside of the set. I share some dinners with him and some time, and what a gentleman.”
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Ford is set to be de-aged in ‘Indiana Jones 5’, which is set in 1969.
The 80-year-old star is reprising his role as the archaeologist for the final time in the upcoming movie and will be de-aged using visual effects to appear as he did in the original trilogy.
The technology is only used during the movie’s opening scene, which takes place in a castle in 1944 and pits Indy against a group of Nazis.
Kathleen Kennedy, who is producing the movie for Lucasfilm, hopes that the technology isn’t the main focus for fans.
She said: “My hope is that, although it will be talked about in terms of technology, you just watch it and go, ‘Oh my God, they just found footage. This was a thing they shot 40 years ago.'”

Lib Dems call for MPs to be banned from appearing in reality TV shows

OHMYGOSSIP — MPs could be banned from appearing in reality shows under a proposed new rule change, following Matt Hancock’s ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ stint.
The former Health Secretary was suspended by the Conservative Party after leaving his West Suffolk constituents to head to Australia, where he spent nearly three weeks in the jungle on the ITV show, but now the Liberal Democrats have called for a Westminster rule change.
The party have tabled an Early Day Motion, dubbed the “Bushtucker Bill”, to try to stop serving MPs taking part in such reality shows while Parliament is sitting.
Lib Dem MP Christine Jardine, who tabled the motion, is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: “This Bushtucker Bill is designed to stop MPs following in Matt Hancock’s shameful footsteps to the jungle.
“Hancock disgracefully deserted his constituents for the sake of his ego.
“In any other job he’d have been sacked for going AWOL.
“He spent days crawling through snakes instead of trawling through casework.
“He won food for campmates while his constituents wondered how they will feed their families this winter.
“People facing soaring bills deserve MPs who listen to their concerns and stand up for them, not use their position to appear in reality TV shows.”
Matt was rumoured to have been paid £400,000 for his time on ‘I’m A Celebrity’, on which he finished third, behind runner-up Owen Warner and winner Jill Scott.
The Early Day Motion, which was published this week, reads: “That this House believes that there should be a change to the House’s Code of Conduct to set a limit to the number of days members can spend being paid to take part in the recording of entertainment television programmes abroad while the House is sitting.”
Mr Hancock’s spokesman said: “Matt’s excellent team continues to deal with constituency matters, as they already do while he’s in Westminster.
“Matt has been working while he’s been in Australia and show producers agreed before he went on the show that he could communicate with his team if there was an urgent constituency matter.
“Matt will be making a donation to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk and causes supporting dyslexia – including the British Dyslexia Association, off the back of his appearance. He will, of course, declare the amount he receives from the show to Parliament to ensure complete transparency, as normal.”

Zoe Saldana feels ‘stuck’ in major franchises

OHMYGOSSIP — Zoe Saldana has felt “stuck” acting in big franchises.
The 44-year-old star – who has played major roles ‘Star Trek’ (Uhura), ‘Avatar’ (Neytiri) and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Gamora) over the past decade – admitted while she’s grateful to be in these movies, balancing her commitments to the franchises means she hasn’t been able to challenge herself as a performer as much as she’d hope.
She told Women’s Wear Daily magazine: “I feel that for the last 10 years of my life, I’ve been just stuck. I felt stuck doing these franchises.
“I’m very grateful for the opportunities that they provided, from collaborating with amazing directors and getting to meet cast members that I consider friends and getting to play a role that fans, especially children, love.
“But it also meant that I felt artistically stuck in my craft of not being able to expand or grow or challenge myself by playing different sorts of genres and different roles.”
Saldana has been keen to expand her talents “for a very long time”, and she’s getting the chance to do that more in the likes of Netflix drama ‘From Scratch’ and upcoming project ‘Lioness’.
Meanwhile, her current approach to work is like it was in her early career, which sees her “giving 120 percent and do the homework and go to bed early and focus on my work”.
She explained: “After ‘Avatar’, when you’re young and all of the time you have, the opportunity to travel and to go to lavish dinners and wear beautiful outfits and the nightlife became very attractive.
“It was a lot of working hard and a lot of [playing] hard that sometimes got in the way of me feeling fully, fully proud of the work I was doing — because I did the work.
“Now that I’m a little older and I would like to consider myself a little wiser, it’s going back to that [feeling] of having those healthy boundaries for myself of, ‘Go to bed early, really work. I know you’re tired. I know you really want to go out and go with your kids and just say, f*** my rehearsal and f*** my practice and f*** this session.’
“But I don’t. I still manage to focus on family life and also focus on my work. And I feel good.”
