AJ Bunker’s hospital dash

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’s Andrea ‘AJ’ Bunker became “seriously ill” after returning from a holiday to Sri Lanka.
The 30-year-old reality TV star – who competed on the ITV2 show in 2021 – revealed that she was rushed to urgent care after suddenly becoming unwell.
She wrote on Instagram: “Sorry for being so quiet. I became really ill when I got back from Sri Lanka, to the point where I had to go to urgent care.
“Since then I’ve been focusing on getting 100 per cent better, while catching up with my family/friends. I’m finally feeling better and will be back to posting.”
Meanwhile, AJ revealed in August that she had split from her boyfriend after finding out he was a secret gay porn star.
She said: “We met at an event and he told me he was a model and had a football coaching company.
“I was actually chatting to someone before this but called things off because I was getting to know this guy. He seemed like an absolute dream. He told me he had a car, a dog, a lovely neighbour down the road who he’d go and visit, and he said he had his own place.
“He told me he wrote songs for Sony too and he seemed like the perfect guy and it was too good to be true.”
AJ explained that a friend tipped her off about his secret life, adding: “It was extreme porn. It was all with men and I could see as clear as day that it was him.
“I was absolutely mortified and I didn’t think it could get any worse and then I discovered that. He’d even asked one of my gay friends to send him photos.
“I want people to be aware and know that sometimes people aren’t always who they say they are.”

Adam Thomas’ on-set family drama

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Thomas has admitted working with family is not always easy.
The former ‘Emmerdale’ star is currently starring on ‘Waterloo Road’ as Donte Charles alongside his son Teddy Thomas, seven, (Donte’s son Tommy) and his niece Scarlett Thomas, 13, (Donte’s daughter Izzy) but Adam admitted it has not all been plain sailing.
He told Digital Spy: “Working with Scarlett and Teddy has definitely been a handful.
“At first, I was so happy they were working on set with me, but I think it was, like, day two and they were having a fight on set. Teddy was crying, and I was like: ‘Oh my god, what have I got myself into here?'”
However, despite the drama, Adam, 34, is thrilled to be working with Scarlett – whose parents are his brother Ryan Thomas and Ryan’s ex, Tina O’Brien – and Teddy, who he has with wife Caroline Thomas.
He said: “Scarlett’s just incredible and I get to sort of teach her and guide her in the right way. was a little bit nervous on day one, and now she feels at home.
“Just watching them grow on set. […] It’s been an amazing experience for us all.”
However, he admitted Scarlett has picked up some bad habits from him.
He explained: “I was like: ‘Scarlett, have you learnt your lines?’ And she was like: ‘Well no, I’ll just learn it now.’ ‘Well, what do you mean you’ll just learn it now?’ And she was like: ‘Well, you do.’ [I told her]: ‘Don’t do what I do’.
“But no, she’s been amazing and I don’t think she needs any advice from me. I mean, she’s got her dad who’s been there and done it, and her mum as well. So between the three of us, we’ve definitely helped her a little bit.”

Millie Gibson ‘destined for really big things’ after Doctor Who casting

OHMYGOSSIP — Iain MacLeod says Millie Gibson is “destined for really big things” after being cast in the new series of ‘Doctor Who’.
Millie, 18, who played Kelly Neelan in ‘Coronation Street’ from 2019 to 2022, has been cast as Ncuti Gatwa’s companion in the BBC series and ‘Corrie’ boss MacLeod believes Millie has a big future ahead.
He told Digital Spy: “I’m thrilled for her. I was aware some time ago that she was in the running for it. I’m pretty sure she wasn’t supposed to tell me but she did! I kept waiting for a BBC lawyer to say sign this so you don’t reveal it to anyone.
“So I knew for a little while but anyone who’s watched her on the telly knows she is a fantastically talented young woman and thoroughly deserves it.
“I know Russell T Davies is a ‘Corrie’ fan so I wonder if that helped her slightly because he would have been familiar with her work, I’m sure.”
“It’s brilliant for her and she’ll be brilliant in that role, she is destined for really big things.”
Meanwhile, Millie recently revealed her parents called her “crazy” after she quit ‘Coronation Street’.
Speaking on the ‘Conversation Street’ podcast, Millie shared: “They thought I was crazy! They were like, ‘Why on earth?’
“It’s such a secure position. I was like, ‘Of course, but that’s what the thing is I don’t need to be secure at the minute.’ I need to spread my wings and see what can happen. And nothing could but I would have regretted it if I hadn’t tried, so I need to try.”
Millie felt the time was right to leave the cobbles, as she’d already accomplished everything she could with the character.
Despite this, the actress admitted that it was still a “hard decision”.
She said: “Obviously ‘Corrie’ is the most incredible job you could ever think of getting, especially at my age. But you get to a point that you feel … I got the most out of it, the most out of the character, I’d explored so much with Kelly.
“I just thought whilst I’m still young I’d go and see what the rest of the world had to offer. It was a hard decision, for sure.”

Renee Zellweger was terrified of singing in Chicago

OHMYGOSSIP — Renee Zellweger was “very afraid” of singing in ‘Chicago’.
The Oscar-winning actress starred in the 2002 musical film alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones but director Rob Marshall has recalled how she was frightened of showcasing her vocals on the big screen.
Marshall told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview to mark 20 years since the film’s release: “I’d found out that Renee had been a cheerleader in school, so I thought maybe she could dance.
“She came to New York, and (producer) John DeLuca and I worked with her on dancing and could see right away that she could move.”
Rob added: “Singing was a different thing. She was very afraid to sing for me. We went to dinner, and I said to her, ‘Do you know any songs?’ She started singing ‘Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend’ for me in the restaurant because she was so shy about singing formally. I could tell immediately she could sing.”
Marshall claims that the ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ star was the perfect actress to play the role of Roxie Hart as she had the ability to cover all aspects of the part.
The 62-year-old director said: “Renee was exactly the actor I was looking for because I wanted to find a vulnerable Roxie. Someone who could play the fragile part of her, but then also be a good enough actress to turn the table and become the strong killer that she becomes, and it needed that full range.”

James Cameron compares Avatar sequels to ‘episodic television’

OHMYGOSSIP — James Cameron has likened the ‘Avatar’ sequels to “episodic television”.
The 68-year-old director has helmed the long-awaited blockbuster ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ and confirmed that a number of sequels are planned for the coming years to make sure that the sci-fi franchise stays fresh in the memories of audiences.
Speaking to TheWrap, James said: “We know exactly what we’re doing. We know what these movies are gonna be. We just have to go through the process of getting them done. So ideally two years from now, (‘Avatar 3’) comes out, ideally maybe three years after that (‘Avatar 4’) comes out, and then ideally maybe a couple years after that (‘Avatar 5’) comes out.”
The ‘Titanic’ filmmaker continued: “If they’re gonna invest in these characters, if they’re gonna invest in this world, we want to give it to them at a regular cadence. That was the game plan.
“(The collective films are) really one big story, but it’s like episodic television. Each one has its own proximal resolution. The character problems continue across the cut.”
James admits that he does “mourn some of the stories” that he has not been able to put on the big screen as he has devoted years to the ‘Avatar’ series.
Asked if he feels bad that he never got to tell the other stories, Cameron told Empire magazine: “Two thoughts in answer to your question: the first is that the world of Avatar is so sprawling that I can tell most of the stories I want to tell within it and try many of the stylistic techniques that I hope to explore.
“And secondly, yes… our time as artists is finite. I will always mourn some of the stories that I don’t get to make. But I feel a great satisfaction when other directors want to explore some of my ideas, like Kathryn Bigelow did with ‘Strange Days’, and Robert Rodriguez did when I passed him the baton on ‘Alita: Battle Angel’. I look forward to more collaborations in the future with directors I admire.”

James Wan admits The Conjuring 4 could be final film in horror franchise

OHMYGOSSIP — James Wan has admitted ‘The Conjuring 4’ could be the last film in the franchise.
The fourth movie in the horror series was announced in October with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick once again writing the script after previously working on ‘The Conjuring 2’ and 2021’s ‘The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It’.
Speaking to Collider, Wan said: “Yeah, we are working on it right now. With the ‘Conjuring’ films, we are very precious about [them].
“And so we kind of want to just take our time to make sure we get it right and to make sure the emotion of the Warren stories that we want to tell, and moving into, and potentially wrapping up, we just want to make sure that it’s the right thing, the right story that we’re telling.”
The 45-year-old filmmaker was asked if “wrapping up” meant the upcoming film would be the last.
He teased: “We never know. You never know. We’ll see.”
The movie will see Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return as Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the franchise’s main films always taken from the couple’s real life case files.
As well as the three ‘Conjuring’ movies already released, the series also includes a number of spin-offs, with 2014’s ‘Annabelle’, its 2017 prequel ‘Annabelle: Creation’ and 2019’s ‘Annabelle Comes Home’.
The franchise spread out with 2018’s ‘The Nun’ and ‘The Curse of La Llorona’ the following year.
Meanwhile, ‘The Nun 2’ is set to be released in September 2023, with Taissa Farmiga – whose sister Vera plays Lorraine – returning as Sister Irene.

Brad Pitt and Adam Sandler ‘teaming up for Netflix film’

OHMYGOSSIP — Brad Pitt and Adam Sandler are to team up for a new movie.
Netflix are said to have greenlit the film, which will be directed by Noah Baumbach.
Sources have told The New York Post newspaper that the project is in early development.
In September, Pitt revealed he and Sandra Bullock came up with an idea for a film that never saw the light of day.
The Hollywood pair – who have appeared alongside each other in ‘The Lost City’ and ‘Bullet Train’ this year – had another motion picture in mind in which they would play quibbling QVC sales people, who argue on-air amid their divorce.
The ‘Fight Club’ star was asked to share his beauty secrets with British Vogue, but didn’t wish to, and so the journalist asked how his regimen has changed over time without being “too QVC”.
He said: “I wouldn’t know how to do that unless it was a comedy.”
Then Brad, 58, said: “Actually, Sandy [Sandra Bullock] and I did once try to develop a whole idea of a husband and wife team, who were QVC’s most successful salespeople, but we’re getting a divorce, we hate each other, and we’re taking it out on air as we sell things … That’s as far as we got.”
Brad recently said he wishes to continue working with “old friend” Sandra.
He said: “Sandy is an old friend. She’s a diehard person I could call for favours over the years and I have done many many times and she’s always there.
“Her timing was great, she was a great person to have in my ear in a situation like what which is actually kind of intimate. It just worked out really well and she had her film and I got to do a little bit of hers. I think we’ll continue to do the same.”

Gordon Ramsay admits Next Level Chef challenges are a ‘nightmare’

OHMYGOSSIP — Gordon Ramsay admits the challenges on his new show are “a f****** nightmare”.
The 56-year-old star is returning with ‘Next Level Chef’ on ITV, which will task hopefuls with inventing dishes from a random set of ingredients in a bid to win £100,000 and a 12-month mentorship.
Gordon said: “I’d find this a f****** nightmare. I got taught by some of the best chefs on the planet. And if you didn’t master what they gave you to do, you were out.
“’Next Level Chef’ is about seeing how they pivot quickly across 45 minutes with ingredients they may have never cooked before.”
The competitors will range from home cooks and professional chefs to social media stars, and Gordon – who is co-hosting the show with former ‘Top Chef’ competitor Nyesha Arrington – admitted the latter group were the most innovative.
He explained: “The most imaginative cooking was from the social media chefs, because they have no boundaries. They are so creative.
“Their level of concentration on one plate – that’s what they do. It was incredible to see. They are very individual. They’re not team players.
“They’re just cooking down a lens, whether it’s on TikTok or Instagram or any platform on social media. And they’re just creating one plate. That’s rare.”
Meanwhile, Gordon admitted while some “top chefs” can take a snobby approach when it comes to social media stars coming into the culinary world, he thinks the show can change the perception.
He added: “The new inclusion of social media stars is something that a lot of top chefs are very sniffy about.
“I welcome them with open arms, because they’re some of the most talented, gifted chefs on the planet today.
‘Next Level Chef’ starts on January 11 on ITV1.

Laura Whitmore reveals why she quit Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Whitmore says she quit ‘Love Island’ because she couldn’t do things the way she wanted.
The 37-year-old TV presenter stepped down as host of the show after just three seasons and Laura admitted she struggled with remaining “impartial” when it came to the contestants.
She told Psychologies magazine: “There was only so much I can do as a host – I couldn’t support them or not support them. I couldn’t say anything.
“So you kind of have to go quiet, and that was hard for me because I like to be able to have those conversations.
“If I could [have done] things the way I wanted to, I’d probably still be doing it.”
Laura – who has a 20-month-old daughter with ‘Love Island’ voiceover star Iain Sterling – took over presenting duties from Caroline Flack in 2020 and revealed in August 2022 that she was leaving the show.
She wrote on Instagram: “Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of ‘Love Island’.
“There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed – some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.
“I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series. I hope I did you proud Caroline.”
Laura has been replaced on the ITV2 show by Maya Jama.

Mike Flanagan worries about burnout on set

OHMYGOSSIP — Mike Flanagan worries about suffering burnout when he is working on a movie.
The 44-year-old filmmaker is known for being at the helm of a slew of horror movies and television series since 2000 but admitted that even though he has eliminated alcohol and smoking from his life, he cannot give up work.
He said: “The answer is yes to both. I do worry about burnout. This year, I hit the ceiling of what I can handle. That happened this year. It is incredibly cathartic to work. I’ve eliminated a lot of addictions from my life, at this point, between booze and cigarettes, which is the one I really miss, but I cannot eliminate work. I’m such a workaholic. That’s the one vice that has survived unscathed and is now running amuck in the absence of any others.”
The ‘Doctor Sleep’ director went on to insist that he is “very lucky” to be able to work in the current climate and has “always felt” that his career can go at any time.
He told Collider: “First of all, I’m very lucky to be able to work, especially at a time when the world is in such shit shape, and people’s jobs and stability are constantly under threat.
“There’s a sense I’ve always had that I’m incredibly fortunate to be able to work and that I’d better hold on to it with everything I have because it can go away at any moment. That, for many years, kept it so that the projects overlapped. There’s also this fear that if you really shit the bed with a project and people see it, you don’t get another project. So, I like to have the next project already shooting before one comes out, so that if that one sucks, everybody won’t be able to stop me from making the one that’s already in prep.”

Rian Johnson starstruck by Angela Lansbury

OHMYGOSSIP — Rian Johnson says Angela Lansbury “couldn’t have been lovelier and more generous” when filming a cameo for ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’.
The late actress – who died in October 2022 aged 96 – makes her final film appearance in the Netflix movie and director Rian was thrilled she agreed to take part.
He told the New York Times: “She couldn’t have been lovelier and more generous.”
Angela’s cameo shows her playing the computer game ‘Among Us’ but Rian explained she was “not a gamer”.
He added: “And so she was very patient in letting me describe the rules of ‘Among Us’, up to a point. At which point she just said, ‘You know what? Just tell me what the lines are. I’ll trust you.”
Rian also managed to get Stephen Sondheim to film a cameo – before his death in November 2021 aged 91 – and he admitted to being star-struck by both.
He said: “I allowed myself to have that little awkward moment of saying to them what I’m sure every person who meets them says. But still, it felt really nice to tell them that I wouldn’t be here doing this if it weren’t for them.
“It’s sad, because as a fan, I wish they were still around and making stuff. I hope they would have enjoyed the little scene and gotten a laugh out of it.”
Explaining about working with Sondheim, he added: “I mentioned to him that we were trying to get Angela Lansbury. And he said, ‘Oh, Angie — I’m friends with her. Tell her I’m doing it. She’ll do it.’”
Actress Natasha Lyonne added: “It goes without saying that they were giant losses of two incredible lives well lived. I guess we’ll only know if I make it to 90, if I was actually worthy of being up there with them.”

Jenny Agutter thought Call the Midwife would only last six episodes

OHMYGOSSIP — Jenny Agutter thought ‘Call the Midwife’ would only last for six episodes.
The 70-year-old actress has starred as Sister Julienne on the BBC period drama series since its inception in 2012 and although it is set to return to screens for its 12th outing on New Year’s Day, she initially believed the show would have a much shorter run.
She said: “I was sat on a bus once when the woman next to me said, ‘I didn’t want to disturb you, but I have to say, I watch ‘Call The Midwife’ and I have a particular interest in it because I was a nun for seven years. ‘I thought, ‘Oh, my goodness, I’ve been a nun longer than her.’ I didn’t see this happening. I thought we’d do six episodes and that would be it.”
Meanwhile, ‘The Railway Children’ actress went on to add that when she reached her milestone birthday just five days before Christmas, she concluded that age “doesn’t really matter” after initially fretting over her 60th a decade earlier, noting that the death of her father has had an impact on the way she approaches life.
She told Good Housekeeping Magazine: “I’m not quite sure how I got here! When I turned 60, it seemed like this milestone that suddenly made a person much older and I thought, ‘is it enough of a reward to have a Freedom Pass?’ Actually, yes, it was! Now I’ve got to a point where I think, ‘Do you know what? Age really doesn’t count – it’s just a number.
“When my father was dying, it was very different to when I lost my mother many years earlier. I was much less concerned with making plans and more focused on just being with him – and that was a very good thing.
“Now, it’s about turning off the switch every so often. I’ll go, ‘Okay, you can’t plan this out completely. Just do what you have to do.”

King Charles ‘would support’ Zara Tindall on Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — King Charles “would support” Zara Tindall if she decided to sign up for ‘Strictly Come Dancing.’
The 41-year-old royal – who is the daughter of Anne, Princess Royal, and her ex-husband Mark Phillips and the niece of the King – could reportedly be interested in taking part in the BBC Latin and ballroom competition following her husband Mike Tindall’s success on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ earlier this year, with the full blessing of the monarch.
Royal insider Duncan Larcombe said: “Zara appearing on Strictly is not out of the realm of possibility. It would be a gamble, but I think if she were to say she wanted to do it, she’d have the full support of King Charles.”
The equestrian – who has children Mia, eight, Lena, four and 19-month-old Lucas with the ex-rugby star – is thought to have been asked to take part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in the past and reflected that Mike’s reaching the semi-finals of the ITV jungle survival show was a ” huge gamble” but that it “paid off” eventually.
He told OK! Magazine: “The invitation will already have arrived on Zara’s mat, probably for the umpteenth time, but it would be a very safe programme for her to take part in. Watch this space.
” Appearing in the jungle was a huge gamble for Mike, but it’s really paid off. With his raised profile, Mike will now be of more value to more organisations – organisations that might normally want to get a working royal on board – so I think we can expect to see a lot more of him and Zara over the coming year.”

Madison Beer’s acting dream

OHMYGOSSIP — Madison Beer wants to become an actress.
Although the 23-year-old singer is preparing to release her second album in 2023, she revealed she wants to branch out into acting also.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column, Madison explained: “I’m working on so many things right now but music is obviously the driving force of everything.
“I would love [acting]. I’ve definitely been trying to work on it and be more open to it.
“I’ve done a lot of acting lessons over the years. I would love to play a more serious role.
“I would love to be in a biopic of some kind. I’m pretty open to whatever but I do want to act.”
Meanwhile, Madison recently revealed that she’s become “a lot easier” on herself after facing fierce criticism on social media earlier in her career.
Madison explained: “My internal criticism I don’t think is as harsh as it used to be. I think I’m a lot easier on myself, I’ve developed a really beautiful relationship with myself that I feel really lucky to have.
“I’ve been on the internet now for over ten years and I’ve gotten hate consistently since I joined it when I was 12.
“So I think that I had to make a decision at one point, am I gonna leave social media entirely and stop participating because it’s not good for me?
“Am I gonna make that promise to myself that we’re not gonna get in holes of reading comments for hours and we’re not gonna engage with negativity?”
Madison admits that setting boundaries has transformed her life.
The singer – who released her debut single, ‘Melodies’, in 2013 – told the ‘Reign with Josh Smith’ podcast: “I’ve had to really set boundaries that are looking out for my own wellbeing, and I think for a long time I was putting others wellbeing over myself, my fans for example, I would be like, ‘Oh, I have to go on Twitter and I have to talk to everyone because they want me to.’
“I think for me, setting those boundaries of hey, not now. And that’s OK. And I’m allowed to shut off and not be present on social media.”
