Pete Wicks shares traumatic childhood story

OHMYGOSSIP — Pete Wicks saved his mother when he was just 12, after she tried to take her own life.
The 36-year-old ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star opened up about the devastating incident which took place over 20 years ago as he called his beloved mother Tracy “the strongest woman I know”.
Writing in his memoir ‘Never Enough: My Words Unfiltered’, Pete said: “I saw her sitting at the table, which had been covered in blood. I saw the blood dripping first. She was holding a knife in her other hand.
“Immediately, I ran over to her to take the knife from her hand. Before that, she had seemed almost possessed – it was like my mum had gone and someone (or something) else had taken over her body.
“But when I came over to her, it’s like she woke up. She looked up at me with eyes full of tears. ‘I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry’.
“I told her it was okay as I panicked trying to work out what to do. I called Nan. I could barely get the words out to describe what had happened. I think I basically just said, ‘Mum… knife… blood’.”
Pete’s nan told him to hang up and call for an ambulance and he wrote: “I took her instructions, calling the ambulance, and then I got to work trying to look after Mum, who by that point was sitting on the floor and bleeding very badly.
“I grabbed towels to try to stop the bleeding. I poured the wine down the sink. It’s hard to pinpoint how I felt in that moment, because I think it was just pure shock. I didn’t cry – I just went into crisis mode.”
Tracy, raised Pete as a single mum after she split from his dad when Pete was 11 and he admitted he blamed himself for her attempt.
He said: “I didn’t say it, but I believed it was my fault. I had been with Mum before it happened. I had agreed to go upstairs. I had stayed upstairs even though I could hear her wailing. If it was anyone’s fault, it was mine.
“Looking back, I know that my responsibility was probably overwhelming in that moment. I was the child, and I needed to be looked after.
‘Instead, I had to look after my parent and suppress all the fear, panic, loneliness and self-blame that was beginning to grow inside me.”

Kelly Brook and her husband Jeremy Parisi’s sex hotel mistake

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelly Brook and her husband Jeremy Parisi accidentally checked into a Brazilian sex hotel during ‘Celebrity Race Across The World’.
The 44-year-old model and her 39-year-old spouse took part in the latest series of the BBC reality TV show, competing against other celebrity pairs to race from Belém, Brazil to Frutillar, Chile but they found themselves in some very unusual places during their trip.
Despite their surroundings, Kelly told The Mirror: “Having a shower was much more important than us having sex.”
Kelly revealed she was excited for the public to get to know Jeremy through the show.
She said: “Jeremy is very quiet, shy and private which is the opposite of me. He is such a beautiful person and so sweet.
“I knew I could push his buttons on the show and he’d still be classy. Last week, a group of women screamed, ran across to mob him and elbowed me out of the way which was so funny. I think he secretly likes it.”
While the show was not all plain sailing for Kelly and Jeremy, she would do it again in a heartbeat.
She said: “I wanted to be young and adventurous again. It was a lot harder than we expected but we’d give anything to be back there now. It was so epic.
“I am really happy about how we finished the race – still married.”
In the series, Kelly and Jeremy compete against TV host Jeff Brazier and son Freddie; Radio 2’s Scott Mills and husband Sam and ‘Ted Lasso’ star Kola Bokinni and cousin Mary Ellen Moriarty.

Georgia Toffolo’s engagement wish

OHMYGOSSIP — Georgia Toffolo wants an engagement ring for her 30th birthday.
The former ‘Made In Chelsea’ star reaches the milestone age next month and is hoping her boyfriend, BrewDog co-founder James Watt, 42, will surprise her with a diamond ring and a proposal.
She told MailOnline: “I always want jewellery – a lovely piece of jewellery would be nice. Darling, I am always in the market for a diamond ring.
“‘It would be the ultimate 30th birthday present. You never know, I can hope and pray and I was praying yesterday so hopefully it’s not too far off.”
Meanwhile, Georgia – also known as Toff – recently admitted her TV career has been a complete “surprise” to her.
While she shot to fame in 2014 when she became a cast member on reality series ‘Made in Chelsea’, Georgia now regularly features on the small screen with presenting roles on shows like ‘This Morning’ but admitted she had initially planned to take a different route entirely.
She told Metro newspaper’s Sixty Seconds column: “My whole career has been very unexpected. I thought I was going to train to be a solicitor and then I wanted to be a barrister. So this has really taken me by surprise. I think the highlight for me has got to be my books.”
The ‘Meet Me…’ author now has more than one million followers on Instagram and described the platform as a “real responsibility” as she described “going out of [her] way” to have open and honest conversations with followers.
She said: “It’s a real responsibility. I go out of my way to have conversations on there that are real and honest. Social media for me has been a gift but for some, it can take a toll. I’m big on talking about skin positivity because I’ve struggled for 15 years with quite severe acne.”
In 2017, she took part in and won that year’s edition of ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ and said that she has only watched the most recent series on and off because she becomes “envious” of the celebrities in camp.
She said: “I dipped in and out as it’s really weird when you watch it because you’re slightly envious you’re not there. It was the best thing I’ve ever done. What I would give to have that calm solitude again – three and a half weeks with no phone or contact with anyone. I love proving to everyone that I’m stronger than I look and different to what they perceive.”

June Brown was allowed to break rules on EastEnders set

OHMYGOSSIP — June Brown was allowed to break the rules by smoking on the set of ‘EastEnders’, according to her former co-star Katie Jarvis.
The veteran actress – who died in in 2022 at the age of 95 – played Dot Cotton on the BBC soap for more than three decades before leaving in 2020 and Katie has now revealed June was given special treatment and was the only castmember allowed to light up at work.
She told The Sun newspaper: “I always remember, June sat down, and she was just smoking and smoking … Yeah she was the only one that was allowed! … “She’d always be working as an actress daily. She put her cigarette down, went on the set, and she’s reading these pages of dialogue …
“She knew all of her lines never got them wrong, and obviously, she was always allowed to walk around smoking!”
After June’s death, she was remembered on the show as they screened a funeral for her character Dot and the actress’ real life children were among those seen mourning the loss onscreen.
It was revealed that June didn’t want her character to be killed off while she was still alive so ‘EastEnders’ bosses spoke to her family after her death and were given the greenlight to show Dot’s funeral in the soap.
‘EastEnders’ executive producer Chris Kershaw told The Sun newspaper: “She did of course know that when she did leave us, it was the right thing to do. “After some time, we couldn’t put it off much longer. We spoke to June’s family who knew it was what she would have wanted.”
After June’s death, a spokeswoman for the BBC soap paid a glowing tribute to the actress saying: “There are not enough words to describe how much June was loved and adored by everyone at ‘EastEnders’, her loving warmth, wit and great humour will never be forgotten.
“June created one of the most iconic characters in Dot Cotton, not just in soap but in British television, and having appeared in 2,884 episodes, June’s remarkable performances created some of ‘EastEnders’ finest moments.
“We send all our love and deepest sympathies to June’s family and friends. A very bright light has gone out at ‘EastEnders’ today but we shall all be raising a sweet sherry in June’s memory.
“Rest in peace, our dearest June. You will never be forgotten.”

Jeremy Allen White praises ‘lovely and supportive’ Bruce Springsteen ahead of biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Allen White has praised Bruce Springsteen for being “lovely and supportive” as he prepares to play The Boss in an upcoming biopic.
The 33-year-old actor – who was crowned Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto in ‘The Bear’ at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday (15.09.24) – is keeping tight-lipped about ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’, the film about the making of the rock icon’s 1982 album ‘Nebraska’, but said Springsteen has been on hand to offer his advice from the get-go.
Speaking to Deadline at the ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles, California, on Sunday (15.09.24), he said: “I’m so excited to start this thing.
“We’re going to start pretty soon. You know, I don’t want to talk about it too much. It feels wrong before getting there and starting the thing.”
He continued: “But I can say I’ve got a really beautiful team of people helping me and Bruce has been really lovely and supportive and available, which has made this whole process an extra joy. His support and Jon Landau, his management support, who has a large role in the film as well. So I feel really lucky.”
Jeremy has been training with a top vocal team and watching endless YouTube videos to prepare for his performance.
He recently told GQ magazine: “I’m really lucky that there’s sort of a team of folks now in place to help young actors portray rock stars. I’ve got a really talented group of people helping me train vocally, musically, to get ready for this thing.”
The actor has also been spending hours watching old clips of Springsteen’s performances and interviews in a bid to nail the portrayal.
He said: “There’s just so much footage. It’s really great to go down a YouTube rabbit hole and find him at all these different periods in his life and be able to listen to his speaking voice as well as his singing voice.
“That’s kind of been the deal, just listening to him a lot and watching him a lot. It’s been really fun preparing.”
‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’ is being directed for 20th Century Studios by Scott Cooper from Warren Zarnes’ 2023 book of the same name.
The record was Springsteen’s sixth studio album and one of his most acclaimed works. The songs focused on blue-collar narratives and featured the musician performing all the instrumentals alone.
It was ranked at 150 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2020.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach shaved beard to play The Thing

OHMYGOSSIP — Ebon Moss-Bachrach had to shave off his famous beard to play The Thing in ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’.
‘The Bear’ actor is stepping into the superhero world to star in the new Marvel movie alongside Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby and he’s revealed his facial fuzz had to go because it was getting in the way of the motion capture process.
Showing off his new clean-shaven look at the 2024 Emmy Awards on Sunday night (15.09.24), Ebon, 47, told Variety: “I’m doing a lot of motion capture on [‘The Fantastic Four’]. So for maximum-data facial capture, I have to be clean-shaven.”
Ebon has been busy shooting the film for around six weeks but he has yet to see himself transformed into the rocky-skinned character.
He added: “They got so many amazing animators working on it, literally hundreds of people working on it. We’ve been shooting for about six weeks, and I haven’t been able to see anything yet, I don’t know exactly what the lead time is. I’m very excited to see something.”
The film has been shooting in the UK and Ebon had to fly back to the US to attend the Emmys in Los Angeles – and he revealed his castmates gave him a card and a bunch of flowers as a good luck token.
He added: “It’s really kind. [There was a] sweet card, [and I] teared up a little bit.”
It ended up being a huge night for Ebon at the glitzy ceremony in LA as he won the award for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as restaurant manager Richie Jerimovich in ‘The Bear’ – marking the second year in a row he’s taken home an Emmy for the role.
During his speech, Ebon said: “I’m so grateful for this show and to work with these beautiful people; Chris [Storer, creator], thank you so much, I love you so much.

Shirley Ballas hopes Strictly has long future amid bullying scandal

OHMYGOSSIP — Shirley Ballas says you need a “great sense of humour” and stealth “work ethic” to compete on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The head judge of the BBC One Latin and ballroom show – which returned to screens on Saturday (14.09.24) – has spoken out on how challenging the programme is for the celebrities, who have very little time to rehearse their routines before performing them in front of millions of viewers, amid the bullying scandal surrounding the long-running show.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, she said: “What people need to understand is that you have a short space of time to get this routine out in front of a live audience of 15 million. It’s not like we can have a cup of tea and a sandwich for four hours of practice. We need to dedicate our time for these short three months, be focused and put our best steps forward. The teacher will be there for you, but the teacher’s got a job to do. That teacher has to have you ready within a week with a brand new dance, and later on in the competition, possibly two dances if you’re going further.”
She warned: “You need a great sense of humour, then you have to come with a great work ethic and really be able to pay attention to the teacher. Any competition is never always about technical fundamentals, it’s about the joy that one can bring to a TV show like this. Whether it’s simple, whether it’s complicated, the audience will pick up on that soul. I hope everybody brings a dash of sparkle to our Strictly screens.”
‘Strictly’ was rocked by alleged misconduct claims, with Graziano Di Prima dropped from the show after allegedly being violent towards Zara McDermott, while Amanda Abbington and others have complained about Giovanni Pernice’s teaching methods.
However, Shirley is hopeful the show will continue to bring “joy” to viewers for many years to come.
She added: “I hope it runs forever and ever and ever, and that the next generation of people get to experience what I’ve experienced. Whether it be a professional or a celebrity or a new panel of judges, I hope they have the same joyous feeling I’ve been able to have in the last eight years.”

David Mitchell hates TV viewers fiddling with phones during whodunnits

OHMYGOSSIP — David Mitchell despises TV viewers who fiddle with their phones while shows are on.
The ‘Would I Lie to You?’ panellist, 50, has been a television stalwart since shooting to fame on ‘Peep Show’, and has now fumed programmes – especially murder mysteries – are designed to be watched without distractions such as second screens.
He was quoted in the Daily Express saying: “When I’m watching an Agatha Christie I don’t try to work out whodunit because I’m confident I’ll be told.
“If I’ve already worked it out, it will be less entertaining.
“It’s letting the information come to you rather than chasing it. Television is a passive medium. Stay still and watch it – put your f****** phone down.”
He added about his love of family friendly whodunnits: “I like a puzzle but I don’t love watching things that are horrific and gritty.
“But a key part of enjoying the episodes is not knowing what’s going to happen. “Some people don’t seem to mind knowing what will happen. I think that’s a bit mad.”
David also said he wishes more people were couch potatoes who don’t want to have multiple screens on the go at once.
He said: “People used to worry when I was a child about the fact that television was so passive.
“Now we dream of the return of the couch potato who is not simultaneously on their iPad.
“Don’t interact with it, don’t talk to anyone about it, watch it endlessly to the exclusion of all other activities.
“That’s all we ask from you, as the makers of television.”
David’s next role is a part in ‘Ludwig’, a comedy drama that starts on BBC One on 25 September, which sees him play a bogus police officer trying to solve the vanishing of his identical twin.

Richard Osman reveals why he’d make an awful detective

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Osman has admitted he would be an awful detective as he can never tell who the killer is on TV whodunnits.
The former ‘Pointless’ presenter, 53, has seen his murder mystery novels become best-sellers – with the first of his ‘Thursday Murder Club’ book series currently being made into a movie by Steven Spielberg – but he has admitted writing them doesn’t mean he would be any good as a real-life detective.
He told the BBC: “My grandfather solved crimes for a living and my mum would watch any Sunday night crime drama, and within five minutes know ‘whodunnit’.
“I think I’m brilliant but I’m always wrong. My wife and I think we know who did it and then at the end we both don’t get it right.”
Richards’ grandfather was an army officer-turned policeman Thomas Wright, and the TV host is married to actress Ingrid Oliver, 47.
Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Richard’s first light-hearted thriller books is being made for Netflix, with a cast including Dame Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.
Richard is also working on a Penguin crime series called ‘We Solve Murders’, which features ex-police officer Steve pulled out of retirement to solve crime with his adrenaline-junkie daughter-in-law Amy.
He said about the characters: “Steve’s an ex-cop who just wants a quiet life, but he’s reluctantly dragged into this adventure by Amy, who’s got this energy and drive that pulls him along.
“I find the idea very moving. I wanted to bring together two people who wouldn’t naturally cross paths like Steve and Amy.
“They’re an unlikely pair, but their relationship is filled with love and respect.”
One of the comedic elements in Richard’s latest book involves the use of AI, with the killer hiding their identity by asking ChatGPT to write his emails in the style of an English gentleman.
Richard added: “I have finally found a good use for ChatGPT, because I don’t think there’s been one before.
“It can certainly help you write a letter to your electricity company, but I’m sure it definitely can’t write a book – it’s so flat.”

John Torode felt like he had ‘nine lives’ after surviving horse riding accident

OHMYGOSSIP — John Torode felt like he had “nine lives” after surviving his horse riding accident.
The ‘MasterChef’ judge, 59, was hurled off his saddle twice on Boxing Day 2016, leaving him hospitalised at St Mary’s in Paddington, central London, with pictures emerging from the time of him looking battered and bruised.
Speaking for the first time about pulling through after the incident, John told the Daily Mirror: “I felt like I had nine lives after I fell off.”
His actress, presenter and chef wife Lisa Faulker, 52, added to the newspaper: “He got thrown off twice. It was pretty awful.”
John told fans at the time he was recovering: “I really am OK but a massive thank you to St Mary’s and the NHS for everything.”
The TV host added he and Lisa – who he first met on ‘MasterChef’ when she won the 2010 celebrity version of the show – now enjoy quiet nights in and exercise.
He said: “From my point of view, you can’t give anything to anybody if you can’t look after yourself. We are both really aware of that.
“We both enjoy our yoga and our stretching and I love my bike riding.
“We both really like the sunshine and we go for a walk most mornings.
“We’re pretty grateful and feel quite honoured in doing what we’re doing.
“It sounds a bit corny, but you just have to look after yourself.
“I’m not getting any younger, and I don’t want to be shrivelled up and not able to do stuff.”
Lisa added about their healthy lifestyle: “My dog has really changed my life in that way and got me out. I think that’s amazing.
“The older you get, the more you need to keep moving.”
John and Lisa’s ‘Weekend Kitchen’ cookery show is making a comeback from 21 September, when it will air at 11.40am on ITV1 and ITVX.

Noel Fielding loves ‘not partying’ any longer

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Fielding loves “not partying”.
The comic, 51, was a regular on London’s party scene in the 1990s and 2000s, but has since settled down in the north of the city with his 43-year-old writer wife Lliana Bird – with whom he has two daughters – and says his continuing job as one of the hosts of ‘The Great British Bake Off’ now suits his quiet family life.
He told The Guardian: “When I got this job (‘Bake Off’), I’d just had my first child, I was painting a lot and had a different lifestyle.
“This show fitted that phase. You want to match your career to where you are in life.
“It’s mainstream, family-friendly and my kids love it, so it suits me.
“I love not partying – and I never thought I’d say that.”
Noel previously told The Guardian: “I took partying to its logical conclusion. “When you’ve been partying with Kate Moss and Courtney Love, you’ve gone as far as you can go.
“A few friends ended up in rehab. I was sick of partying anyway and lucky enough to have my family at the right time.
“It was like, ‘This is what I was looking for!’”
Noel added along with his ‘Bake Off’ job he would like to follow in Vic Reeves’ footsteps and start focusing more on his art and do TV shows around it.
He said: “I’d love to concentrate on art more as I get older. I love what Vic Reeves is doing, making art documentaries and his ‘Painting Birds’ series.
“Vic and Bob (Mortimer) were a big influence on me.
“Now he looks genuinely happy. I’d love to do something similar.”
Noel is set to front his eighth series of ‘Bake Off’ alongside fellow host Alison Hammond and judge Paul Hollywood, meaning he’s had a longer stint at the helm that the show’s original hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins.
He said: “Who knew that was going to happen? Maybe Paul Hollywood’s hypnotised me.
“I can’t escape the tractor beam of those blue eyes. I loved that original lineup, with Mary (Berry), Mel and Sue, as much as anyone.
“When me and Sandi (Toksvig) took over, we were terrified. We knew it was a massive risk.
“We said, ‘Let’s see if we can last one series.’ The fact that I’m still here is amazing.”

Ben Whishaw expresses doubt over James Bond comeback

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Whishaw doubts he will return to the James Bond franchise.
The 43-year-old actor starred opposite Daniel Craig as the MI6 gadgets whizz ‘Q’ from 2012’s ‘Skyfall’ to ‘No Time to Die’ in 2021, though has now admitted he likely won’t be in the next installment as series producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson will probably want “a completely new cast” for the reboot.
During an appearance on BBC One’s ‘Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg’, Whishaw said: “I don’t think I’m going to be in the next one. I think they’re going to start all over again, and with a new cast, a completely new cast, I think that’s my hunch, but I don’t know. I have no idea.”
The ‘Paddington’ star did suggest that he was open to appearing in the franchise again if the opportunity to do so ever arose.
He added: “I think it might need a kind of new lease of life and a whole new group of people. I think it could be good for it, but if they asked me, I would do it, of course.”
Whishaw isn’t the only James Bond actor to open up over the future of the series, as his co-star Naomie Harris – who played Moneypenny from ‘Skyfall’ to ‘No Time to Die’ – has also recently insisted she has “absolutely no idea” what’s next for the franchise.
Speaking on SiriusXM’s ‘The Jess Cagle Show’, she said: “I don’t know what’s gonna happen for the next.
“I don’t know where they’re going, what direction. I have absolutely no idea and I’m so glad that I don’t have any idea, otherwise, I’d slip up, so nobody tells me anything.”
The ‘Moonlight’ actress added she “will really miss” playing Moneypenny and the familiarity that came with the role.
She lamented: “I will really miss it because as an actress, or an actor, and in this profession, you’re just kind of like a gypsy going around on your own constantly.
“And for the first time, I had a sense of continuity going back to the same place to work with at Pinewood Studios, to work with the same team, and it’s a beautiful feeling to have that.
“So yeah, [I] feel a bit lost without it, to be honest.”

‘I just want it to be fun’: Donald Glover teases Star Wars Lando spin-off

OHMYGOSSIP — Donald Glover hopes his ‘Star Wars’ Lando Calrissian movie will be “more fun” than previous entries in the franchise.
The 40-year-old actor – who took over from Billy Dee Williams as the suave scoundrel in 2018’s ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ – is due to play the character again in the upcoming film and has teased what he envisions for the project.
In an interview posted by WSJ. Style on YouTube, he said: “I just want it to be fun, like, as a ‘Star Wars’ fan myself, I think it’s important that there just needs to be more fun being had.
“It’s very hard to have fun right now. It’s tough because there are very serious things happening, and those are the only things that connect us, weirdly, so I get why things are serious, but, part of the human experience, I believe, is we have a responsibility to have enjoyment. And I just feel like we’re lacking in that department.”
Glover explained he felt the sci-fi series could sometimes be “way too serious” and outlined his aim to add some levity to the franchise.
He said: “‘Star Wars’, I love it, but sometimes it be super serious. Sometimes it be, like, way too serious. It’s like everything that has to do with the Skywalkers, is like so serious.
“Lando, I think the best part about him is he’s a scoundrel, you know, and I feel like people can relate to that. And he’s probably like, ‘Man, this war is wack. I need money.’ Which I feel everyone can relate to. So, I want to just bring fun to ‘Star Wars’. I just want it to be fun.”
In 2020, the project was announced as a Disney+ limited series – with ‘Haunted Mansion’ director Justin Simien due to serve as the showrunner – though three years later, it was revealed the studio had scrapped the programme entirely and was instead intending to make it a movie.
As a result of the pivot, Simien left the picture, and the ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’ actor and his brother Stephen Glover were said to have taken over the project.

Davina McCall wants to turn ‘My Mum, Your Dad’ into a business

OHMYGOSSIP — Davina McCall wants to turn her hit ‘My Mum, Your Dad’ show into a business.
The 56-year-old presenter is fronting a new series of the ITV mid-life dating show that starts on Monday (16.09.24) night, and thinks its concept would be profitable if it was turned into a retreat catering for mature people searching for love.
She was quoted in The Sun saying: “We should actually do ‘My Mum, Your Dad’ retreats as a commercial venture.
“I would have a go if I wasn’t in a relationship.
“It’s such a great place where you go and you learn. You come with a lot of baggage and they do so much work on themselves.”
The show sees a set of parents who have been nominated by their children hunting for love at a country retreat under their children’s gaze.
In the new series, an ‘Intimacy Den’ has been added for the competitors to get cosy, where cameras can be shut off.
Davina said in a separate chat with the Daily Mail she loves the opportunity to give mid-lifers a second chance at finding love as it echoes her own experience falling in love with her 50-year-old hairdresser boyfriend Michael Douglas.
She added about the struggle of finding love in later life: “Loneliness is a topic which is covered quite a lot in ‘My Mum, Your Dad’ and I spoke to Michael a lot about that.
“I said, ‘You know, it’s amazing we got together at this stage of life because I don’t know if I would be with anybody if we hadn’t got together.
“I think women are much happier to be alone later in life but it’s quite sad. “Sometimes for women who get divorced, they don’t get invited to dinners, or they get overlooked as they are not in a couple any more.
“They are a single woman and that just magnifies your loneliness. I think for famous women it’s quite hard. You can’t do the apps, so how do you meet people?
“I didn’t have to do that because I knew Michael – I had known him for 20 years.
“I probably would be off to join a dance class – God knows what I would be doing.”

Anna Maxwell-Martin got ‘lots of letters from paedophiles’ at start of acting career

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Maxwell Martin got “lots of letters from paedophiles” who mistook her for a child when she started her acting career.
The ‘Motherland’ actress, 47, kicked off her acting career in theatre aged 24 in 2001, but because of her youthful looks she said she became prey for perverts.
Anna, who has also starred in ‘Line of Duty’, told The Daily Telegraph: “You couldn’t walk into the National Theatre and be like, ‘Hi’ya? Y’alright?’ You had to be a young ingénue. I was lucky when I left drama school that I looked like an ingénue.
“I naturally fitted into that type of being blonde and small and childlike so I went straight into theatre, and I did the Donmar and I did the National (Theatre.) “I got lots of letters from paedophiles in Wandsworth prison.
“Loads of horrific letters because they thought I was an actual child. And obviously, I was not.”
Anna’s stage roles included a run from 2003 to 2004 at the National playing a 12-year-old Lyra while aged 26.
Her breakthrough TV roles included parts in the BBC’s ‘Bleak House’ adaptation from 2005 and on Channel 4’s ‘Poppy Shakespeare’.
She also played stressed mother Julia in ‘Motherland’ and DCS Patricia Carmichael in series five and six of the BBC’s ‘Line of Duty’.
Anna said her fame came after growing up in a “normal” family, with her father, who died aged 59 when she was 24, running a pharmaceutical company and her mum a housewife.
She said about her humble childhood and how her parents never tried to discourage her from acting: “As a family, we went on a coach holiday every year from Beverley to Tossa in Spain with no loos on board. We couldn’t have afforded any more than that.
“And I was this little person in a family of scientists, doing shows in working men’s clubs, singing Whitney Houston in a bikini, no props.
“Nobody in my family ever said, ‘No. Why do you want to do that? That won’t work out for you’.”

Noel Fielding feels like he’s part of ‘British culture’

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Fielding feels like he’s part of “British culture”.
The stand-up comic turned TV presenter is about to start co-hosting ‘The Great British Bake Off’ this week for his eighth time after he started helping front the show in 2017, and has said it is now deeply ingrained into the UK consciousness.
He told The Guardian about moving from his surreal TV comedy shows to the family series: “When (‘The Mighty Boosh’) ended, because it had been a cult hit, I wanted to make something more avant-garde to satisfy my art school side. “So I did ‘Luxury Comedy’ (on Channel 4.) After that, I didn’t know what to do with myself, then ‘Bake Off’ came along.
“It was a huge curveball for me. I love that it’s old-fashioned TV. Millions watch it weekly. It feels like being part of British culture.”
He added about ‘The Mighty Boosh’, the sketch show he created with Julian Barratt, 56, in the late-1990s marking its 20th anniversary this year: “Oh wow. Me and Julian were proud of everything the ‘Boosh’ did.
“We probably should have made a film. People wanted more and that would’ve been a nice way to finish.
“Julian’s the funniest person I’ve ever worked with.”
He added when asked if he and Julian would ever reform: “What we had together was so special.
“Comedy double acts are such rare beasts, like unicorns. I’ll probably never meet anyone like that again but I loved it while it lasted.
“We stopped at the right time, before the quality dipped.
“As much as I’d love to get back together, I wouldn’t want to do something that wasn’t as good.”
Noel also described his ‘Bake Off’ co-hosts as feeling like a new family after his “feral” upbringing in south London.
He said about the judges on the show: “Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood are mum and dad.
“I’m the cat. Paul would say I’m the teenage son who is secretly a vampire.”
