Rose Byrne was ‘terrified’ to pitch her new movie to Dolly Parton

OHMYGOSSIP — Rose Byrne was “terrified” to pitch her new movie to Dolly Parton.
The 43-year-old actress stars in the romcom ‘ Seriously Red ‘ – which follows a woman who becomes a a Dolly Parton impersonator after being fired from her job as a real estate agent – but explained she was nervous to meet the country star herself because she knew if she rejected the idea then the project would not come to fruition at all.
She said: ” I was terrified. I went and met Danny Nozell, I was six months pregnant, and I drove down from Atlanta where I was shooting ‘Neighbours 2’ with our friend Nick Stoller. I drove to Chattanooga listening to Christian radio because it was all I could get on the radio stations. It was sort of the unknown, it was such a different league for me, the music business. I don’t know how it works, or how to even begin to penetrate that business. So it was a little bit even more unknown than just a regular pitch where you’re going into an office of whomever, an executive or something.
“We knew without Dolly there was just no way we could do it.”
However, the ‘Bridesmaids’ star went on to add that the ‘Jolene’ legend “really loved” the concept of the project when the script eventually made it into her hands.
Rose told Collider: “We had to try to get this script in [to] her, and to get her blessing, and to see if she could help us get the music. If we didn’t have the music, it would’ve been very different. I don’t know what the movie would’ve become, but it certainly wouldn’t have been a Dolly Parton impersonator. It would’ve become something much different. But thankfully, Danny Nozell, her longtime manager and champion of the movie, he got it into her hands and she was very prompt. Within a few weeks she said, ‘Yeah, I really love it. I’m inspired by it. You have my blessing.’ It was incredible. Then it took another five years to get the movie made. Independent filmmaking at its best.”

The Wanted’s Siva Kaneswaran missed Dancing On Ice due to viral chest infection

OHMYGOSSIP — The Wanted’s Siva Kaneswaran missed Sunday’s (12.02.23) ‘Dancing On Ice’ after coming down with a viral chest infection.
Co-host Phillip Schofield announced on the ITV celebrity ice skating show that the boy band member would be missing from the competition due to illness, but did not disclose what he had come down with.
And Siva, 34, who is partnered with Klabera Komini, has updated fans to explain his absence.
He wrote on Instagram: “Hi guys. I just want to say that I’m so gutted that I can’t perform this weekend. I got a viral infection in my chest and it just got worse and worse. I just can’t shake it.
“Wishing all the contestants good luck this weekend on Sunday. You’ll do great, I’ll be watching. Lots of love guys.”
Former ‘EastEnders’ actress Patsy Palmer was the fourth celebrity to be eliminated from ‘Dancing On Ice’ at the weekend.
All four judges voted to save comedian Darren Harriott and his professional skating partner Tippy Packard in the dreaded skate-off, meaning Patsy and Matt Evers exited the competition.
Flame-haired Patsy had performed a routine to Spice Girls hit ‘Spice Up Your Life’ dressed as Geri Horner aka Ginger Spice in her famous Union Jack dress.
She said of her stint on the show: “I’ve met the best people ever and we’ve been like one big family. Everyone on this show (is a) truly beautiful (person).”
And Baby Spice sent a special video message to the 50-year-old DJ ahead of the former soap star hitting the rink.
Emma Bunton said: “I’ve been watching every week, and you are so, so great. Everyone is so proud of you.”
Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson topped the leader board for the fourth time, earning 36 points for his daring routine to Robbie Williams’ ‘Let Me Entertain You’.
Carley Stenson, The Vivienne, Joey Essex and Mollie Gallagher all remain in the competition.

Claudia Winkleman: My fringe gets complaints from viewers!

OHMYGOSSIP — Claudia Winkleman’s fringe gets complaints from viewers.
The 51-year-old TV star is known for sporting her dark locks over her forehead but revealed that the do often raises concerns from viewers, who are worried about her sight or what she may be hiding with the style.
She said: “I am a walking fringe. But I grew it a centimetre every month and then suddenly started getting complaints. I genuinely get letters of complaint. The main concerns seem to be, ‘How does she see?’ and ‘What is she hiding?’. I also had a, ‘Have you got squirrels under there?’ which was a particularly good letter.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ host went on to add that her fringe is the reason that she does not need any Botox or any plastic surgery on her face as she explained she does not have a strict beauty regime.
She told The Sun newspaper: “I don’t need Botox now. Have you seen how long my fringe is? It is now almost upper-lip length, I cannot recommend it enough.
When you hit 51, just grow an enormous curtain in front of your face. Go full yeti. It works! I don’t have a health and beauty regime. I know that if I stand in front of a mirror in the bathroom applying toner then something has gone terribly wrong. But my main thing is that I nap all the time and never take off my make-up. So essentially what you’re looking at was applied in the Seventies! I don’t drink any water, not even three sips a day!”

Joe Phillips exits The Apprentice

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Phillips has been fired on ‘The Apprentice’.
The entrepreneur exited the BBC show after he failed to impress Lord Sugar during a challenge in Dubai.
The teams were tasked with laying on a corporate event for a high-end client – but Joe failed to shine during the task and he was ultimately sent home early.
Elsewhere, Reece Donnelly was also axed from the show after drinking alcohol on the flight to Dubai.
The theatre school owner was sent home by Lord Sugar because he broke the show’s alcohol ban, even though he’d previously been warned by the producers.
A source told MailOnline: “Reece was sent home and didn’t film in Dubai.
“Producers were unimpressed when he had several alcoholic drinks on the flight even though he was told not to.”
Lord Sugar was shocked that Reece squandered his opportunity on the show.
The insider added: “Lord Sugar was obviously furious, he couldn’t believe someone would risk securing his £250,000 investment for the sake of a drink.”
Lord Sugar also informed the other candidates of Reece’s exit.
He said: “So, as you know, Reece wasn’t able to take part in the task and has subsequently left the process.”
Meanwhile, an ‘Apprentice’ spokesperson said: “Reece was unable to continue in the process, this was discussed and agreed between Reece and programme-makers.”
Prior to the series, Reece revealed that he was looking forward to the challenge and that he was determined to make Scotland proud.
He explained: “I hope you all enjoy the show as much as we laughed making it. As the first Scottish candidate in over eight years, let’s do this Scotland.”

Tanyel Revan dumped from Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Tanyel Revan has been dumped from the ‘Love Island’ villa.
The 26-year-old hair stylist exited the ITV dating show after Jordan Odofin opted to recouple with Ellie Spence.
After her exit was confirmed, Tanyel explained: “Going into the fire pit, I just had a weird feeling that I was going to be leaving the villa. I like Jordan as a person, but I knew that if he had chosen to couple up with me, I’d have been forcing it … I knew there was no spark.”
Tanyel wasn’t shocked by Jordan’s decision to recouple with Ellie.
She shared: “I was expecting him to pick Ellie. She’d given him more time and I didn’t.”
Tanyel tried to “give it a go” with Jordan. But deep down, they both knew that they didn’t have a long-term future together.
She said: “I think he knew in his heart that I was making an effort just for the sake of it. I wanted to be open and give it a go but I think he knew that I didn’t fancy him.”
Tanyel also rubbished speculation that there might be a romantic spark between herself and her best pal Ron Hall.
Speaking about their friendship, she explained: “I’m glad I coupled up with him the first time around because if I hadn’t done that I wouldn’t have realised how good a friendship we could have.
“What made me realise it was just a friendship between us was as soon as we coupled up, we couldn’t flirt. It’s like the flirting went out the window.
“I didn’t expect to get on with him that well. He’s my best friend.”

‘Family time is everything’: Chris Evans won’t be returning to TV

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘TFI Friday’ host Chris Evans is too busy to return to TV.
The 56-year-old broadcaster suggested his days on telly are behind him because his commitment to his Virgin Radio breakfast show is more than enough for him and his young family, wife Natasha Shishmanian and their children Noah, 13, Eli, 10, and four-year-old twins Boo and Walt.
Asked by a fan if he had any TV plans coming up, Chris – who also has adult daughter Jade from a previous relationship – said: “No can do. Family time is everything to me. Radio in the a.m is my limit.”
Last summer, Chris claimed he was bringing back ‘TFI Friday’ – which ran from 1996 to 2000 before returning briefly for a series in 2015 – but suggested it would go online because there was no longer any “need” for it to have a home on television.
He said: “Of course ‘TFI Friday’ is coming back in September. Can I tell you a bit more about it?
“Oh, sure. The thing is, you don’t need a TV channel now. You just don’t need one.”
Chris insisted the new format would will let the team be more creative with plenty of freedom in terms of the length of the show, and what unseen archive footage they can release.
He explained: “It’s amazing what you can do. ‘TFI Friday’ doesn’t have to be an hour long, it could be longer, we could livestream it.
“We’ve got all the annals and the back catalogue and library footage. So we’ve got the David Bowie footage that was never seen, and all that going on.”
Despite his comments at the time, the reboot has yet to materialise.

Channing Tatum hired ‘vegetable guru’ for Magic Mike’s Last Dance

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ star Channing Tatum hired a “vegetable guru” for the film.
The 42-year-old actor reprises his role as ‘Magic’ Mike Lane in the latest installment in the franchise and he enlisted an expert to help him stay in shape while shooting the stripper saga.
He said: “I got my diet sorted out for the very first time of my life at like, whatever age. But I have a guru now, she’s like a vegetable guru.”
His co-star Salma Hayek admitted she was surprised by how much the men in the movie talked about their tough eating plans.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I’ve never heard so much diet talk in any movie, and I’ve worked with a lot of girls. They were either talking the diet or in between takes, they were doing pushups, all of them, like my goodness, for me that’s like the worst, that’s a punishment, and they were like, so excited. They were just so happy all the time exercising in between takes nonstop.”
While Channing stuck to a strict diet during filming, he “went crazy” as soon as shooting was over.
Salma laughed: “The day they said wrap, he went crazy! We’re going to the wrap party in the cars and he [was in] the other car shoving the pizza [in his mouth]. Like the Cookie Monster, but it was the Pizza Monster. He was so happy.”
Channing agreed: “I was rubbing it on my face. I was just like, ‘Ahhh.’ ”
The 56-year-old actress nearly had a disaster when the pair were filming a dance sequence and Channing “nearly dropped” her on her head – but the actor insisted it was all his co-star’s fault.
She said: “I remember in one rehearsal he nearly dropped me upside down, head hitting the floor.”
Channing teased: “It didn’t happen, so I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Salma explained she had to “bend [her] legs” but failed to do so in rehearsal, to which her co-star agreed: “Yeah, you didn’t bend them, but I saved that queen. The queen’s crown didn’t hit the ground!”
Salma added: “But it came this close, and then he reprimanded me. We laughed and then he said, ‘OK, let’s review what we have learned from this experience.’ It’s hard to remember what you’re supposed to do when you’re upside down!”

Vin Diesel eyes up Robert Downey Jr to play ‘antithesis’ role in next Fast and Furious

OHMYGOSSIP — Vin Diesel wants Robert Downey Jr. to play the “antithesis” of his character in the next ‘Fast and Furious’ movie.
The 55-year-old actor portrays Dominic Toretto in the high-speed film franchise, and he is keen for the 57-year-old star to join the movie series as a character who “promotes AI and driverless cars”.
When asked who he wants in the next film, he said: “Robert Downey Jr.
“Without telling you too much about what happens in the future, there’s a character who is the antithesis of Dom who is promoting AI and driverless cars and a philosophy that with that goes your freedom.
“There is somebody that believes that’s the future, and that’s at direct odds with the Toretto mentality.”
Quizzed on whether he has approached Downey Jr. about the role, he growled and playfully responded to Variety: “How dare you ask me this question in front of all these people? I have pride and I have dignity.”
Jordana Brewster portrays Dom’s sister Mia Toretto in the film franchise, but in April Diesel told how the ‘Fast X’ script initially excluded her character.
He wrote on Instagram: “When the F10 script came in, it excluded Mia Toretto…. Someone whom I’ve attributed the brotherhood of Dom and Brian to… I was so disappointed that I couldn’t see how I could continue… After all, I wasn’t going to make another Fast unless Brian was back in Four… I don’t need to remind you of the petitions you sent the studio for Letty’s return at the the end of FIve. (sic)”
Diesel – who has daughters Hania, 14, and Pauline, seven, and 13-year-old son Vincent – admitted he has one of his girls to thank for getting Brewster’s character into the movie, the 10th of the film franchise.
He added: “Side note, you will never believe who corrected the very important role of Mia… my daughter, the Alpha Angel, who told the director very plainly and honestly “NO MIA NO FAST 10!” haha. The irony, is that the day she was born I was filming with Jordanna and Pablo and it was Jordanna who I first told… profound right? (sic)”

Monty Python star Carol Cleveland has reservations about Fawlty Towers revival

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Monty Python’ star Carol Cleveland doesn’t think the ‘Fawlty Towers’ revival can “match” the original.
The 81-year-old actress – who appeared in 30 episodes of ‘Monty Python’s Flying Circus’ and all four of the legendary comedy troup’s films – has weighed in on the news John Cleese will once again play Torquay hotelier Basil Fawlty in new episodes of the classic comedy.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I’m amazed. I’m no spring chicken at 81. John is 83, which in reality would be too old to run a hotel.
“I can’t see it matching the original, but maybe it’s not meant to. I’m delighted it’s coming back and I can’t wait to see it.”
John is writing the sitcom and will star alongside his real life daughter Camilla.
The comedy, which originally ran on the BBC for 12 episodes in the 1970s, has gone down in history as one of the all time greats, but Carol isn’t sure how her former co-star will navigate writing the show for the current climate.
She added: “It’ll be interesting to see how John gets round today’s political correctness. It might not be as fun if it’s so politically correct.”
Castle Rock Entertainment’s revival of the sitcom was revealed this week, with Matthew George, Rob Reiner, Michele Reiner and Derrick Rossi serving as executive producers.
In a statement, John said: “What I like about Matt is that, unlike many producers, he really ‘gets’ the creative process.
“When we first met, he offered an excellent first idea, and then Matt, my daughter Camilla, and I had one of the best creative sessions I can remember. By dessert we had an overall concept so good that, a few days later, it won the approval of Rob and Michele Reiner.
“Camilla and I look forward enormously to expanding it into a series.”

Vanessa Feltz ‘wanted for Celebs Go Dating’

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Feltz is said to be at the top of ‘Celebs Go Dating’ bosses’ “wish list” for the next series.
The 60-year-old broadcasting legend confirmed last weekend she and Ben Ofoedu have split after 16 years together, and producers on the E4 show are said to be “willing to throw big money” at Vanessa to sign her up for the next installment.
A TV insider said: “Vanessa is top of the wish list when it comes to casting.
“Talks with potential cast mates are going to begin next month and producers are willing to throw big money Vanessa’s way in a bid to get her to sign on the dotted line.”
Bosses are said to be hoping Vanessa can find her “happy ending” if she signs up for the show.
The insider added to The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “She’s been so brave and dignified with how she has dealt with this break-up, and the nation absolutely love her.
“Everyone wants to see her find her happy ending, she really deserves it, so bosses are confident it would be a real ratings winner if she agreed to get on board.
“It remains to be seen whether Vanessa will take them up on their offer but they are going to pull out all the stops, so watch this space.”
Vanessa fought back the tears this week as she opened about what a “horrible shock” her break up has been, admitting her heart has been “snapped into a million pieces”.
She said: “The thing is, that my mum died at 57 years old and I have mourned her every day. She’s missed so much – now I might start crying and I hope I don’t as that would be very unprofessional.
“So, when I lived to be older than my mum, and I am older, I’m 60, I’ve been so grateful to be alive. I’ve been so grateful, because I didn’t think it was a given right? I was so pleased.
“So, I was absolutely determined to wring every ounce of happiness and fun and adventure and excitement from every day. And I really mean it, I’m not just saying it because it’s sloshy and slushy – I really mean it.
“So, when people say ‘Eurgh, you’re 60, you’re old, how do you feel?’ The answer is grateful. I feel incredibly grateful, I’m so pleased to be alive. And I’m so determined to enjoy everything I’m given to have.
“But obviously when you get a horrible shock and your heart snaps into a million pieces and you’re just thinking, ‘Oh my God,’ all that thing about enjoying every minute, it’s a gift, it’s a wonderful thing, just kind of evaporates. It’s very difficult.
“It’s hard then, because you’re on track to be appreciating every minute and you’re feeling so sad. It’s hard, isn’t it? I’m determined to do it, but it is hard. I don’t want to be derailed from it.”

Disney confirm Toy Story 5 and Frozen 3 in the works

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Toy Story 5’ and ‘Frozen 3’ are in development.
Disney have confirmed sequels to the two movies, as well as a follow-up film to 2016 motion picture ‘Zootopia’, are all in the works.
Speaking to the company’s investors, Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO, said in a call: “I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises – ‘Toy Story’, ‘Frozen’ and ‘Zootopia’.”
Iger also teased there would be more announcements about the sequels “soon”.
He added: “We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivalled brands and franchises.”
‘Toy Story’ star Tim Allen, who voices Buzz Lightyear in the film franchise, confirmed he will be reprising his role for the fifth film, and appeared to reveal Woody (Tom Hanks) will also be back.
He wrote on Twitter: “See ya soon Woody, you are a sad strange little man and you have my pity. And off we go to a number 5! To infinity and beyond!”
Kristen Bell – who voices Anna in ‘Frozen’ and ‘Frozen II’ – has previously admitted she would be up for returning for a third movie in the series.
Speaking in June, she joked: “I would like to officially announce, with zero authority, ‘Frozen 3’.
“Please bear in mind I did say ‘zero authority,’ ’cause I can’t [actually announce it]. I can’t do that — I’m not in charge.
“But there could be something in the works and something maybe happening, maybe.
“I’ll keep it mysterious. But I know Idina [Menzel] recently said she would do it, and I feel like if we’re all in what are we waiting for?”
In 2019, Menzel, who voices Queen Elsa in the Disney franchise, said she would be “happy” to make multiple ‘Frozen’ films.
Just a month after the release of ‘Frozen II’, she said at the time: “I can see a ‘Frozen 3′. I can see a’ Frozen 3′, ‘4’, and ‘5’, it’s whether they want to make them. I’m happy to be involved.”

The Little Mermaid will be finished next month

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Little Mermaid’ director Rob Marshall has revealed post production will be completed in March.
The 62-year-old filmmaker – who is at the helm of Disney’s live action adaptation of the beloved nautical tale, which stars Halle Bailey as Ariel – has been asked if there are other projects he’d like to adapt once they’re done with the movie.
He told Collider: “So I have to say that I’m now actually looking forward to answering that question in the next few months when I finish up.
“This film will be finished probably at the end of March. It will be fun to say, ‘Well, where do I want to go next? What world do I want to be part of? Where do I want to go?’ ”
He noted that there have been some difficulties working on the movie, describing it as the “most challenging” he’s ever done with added complications due to COVID-19.
He said: “‘The Little Mermaid’, that I’m just finishing up now, has taken four-and-a-half years. COVID just kind of, you know, came right in the middle.
“We were a week away from filming, and we shut down, and then we had to come back up again. It’s the most challenging film I’ve ever done because of the visuals and how to create that.
“I mean, every moment of the entire film is choreographed because it had to be because there’s no gravity. How do you do that? That was crazy. I mean, to figure out how we do that.”
On the subject of his next project, Marshall suggested he would like to continue his goal of trying to do something new.
He added: “I try not to repeat myself. You know, I probably could have done ‘Chicago 2’, ‘3’ and ‘4’, but I was excited coming off of that film to go and do ‘Memoirs Of A Geisha’, as an example, and just kind of go to a whole different culture and a different place and different actors.
“Because it’s your life, you spend so much time working on these things, you want a different experience.
“So, I don’t know what that’s going to be. It’s a very good question, but I’m excited to find out.”

Emmerdale’s Paddy Kirk to ‘say goodbyes’ as he considers taking own life

OHMYGOSSIP — Emmerdale’s Paddy Kirk will consider taking his own life in heart-breaking scenes next month.
The character – played by Dominic Brunt – will begin having suicidal thoughts after a build up of isolation, grief and confusion, and it will lead to him saying his goodbyes to pals in March as his deep depression intensifies.
Dominic said: “It’s a huge honour and a great responsibility to be portraying this storyline.
“It’s an inherent problem in today’s society that most men don’t talk enough about their problems. We bottle them up, we don’t want to bother anyone, we become embarrassed, we feel we should be strong and not show weakness.
“If this story can shine a light on the issue or make even a small change to someone’s outlook or viewpoint, then it will have been worth it.
“It’s also a privilege to be working alongside The Samaritans and Andy’s Man Club in highlighting this issue.”
The loveable character has been suffering since the breakdown of his marriage when he discovered his wife Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) had been cheating with Al Chapman, who was portrayed by Michael Wildman until the character’s death in October.
Paddy has also started making some uncharacteristically careless mistakes during his work as a vet.
During tonight’s (09.02.23) episode, which airs on ITV1, viewers will see Paddy suddenly leave the village without telling his friends or family.
While he will soon be found staying locally in a guest house, it will be clear he is struggling with his mental health and not planning on reconnecting with his loved ones for some time.
In March, Paddy will head back to the village and say some goodbyes to his friends, before leaving again with the aim of ending his own life.
‘Emmerdale’ producer Laura Shaw said: “As soon as we started discussing this story we knew that it was vital for us to get it right and that we needed to open up the conversation about male depression and suicide.
“Paddy is usually very happy-go-lucky in life, always joking and having a laugh, but what we see is that recent events have really taken their toll.
“Despite him being popular and having lots of friends and family around him, Paddy starts to feel increasingly lonely, isolated and overwhelmed by his feelings and this leads to him having some very dark thoughts.
“We’ve worked really closely with Samaritans and Andy’s Man Club every step of the way through this story and their incredible support and insight has helped us to shape Paddy’s journey into a true reflection of what thousands of men sadly go through every year.”
Lorna Fraser, the Executive Lead for Samaritans’ Media Advisory Service, said: “Paddy’s story creates an opportunity to show others, particularly middle-aged men, however difficult times can become, it’s always possible to get help and get through, and ultimately recover.
“Depression and suicide are extremely serious topics, so we’re pleased to have seen the producers work so hard to ensure they got this story right in its telling.
“We encourage anyone touched by this story to reach out to Samaritans, our amazing volunteers are always here to listen, day and night.”
‘Emmerdale’ airs 7.30PM weeknights on ITV1.

Katie Price set for reality TV comeback

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Price is set to make her reality TV comeback on ‘Celebrity Cooking School.
The 44-year-old ex-glamour model has appeared on hit shows like ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ and ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ over the course of her career, and she is now said to be gearing up to show off her culinary skills in the Channel 4 competition after being at the “top of the bosses’ wish list”.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Katie was top of the show bosses’ wish list, so they were thrilled when she agreed to do it as they’ll know she’ll make great telly.
“For Katie, it’s a chance to show a different side of herself after all the drama with her bankruptcy court case and her on-off relationship with Carl. She’s looking forward to having some fun and getting back to doing more TV again.”

Steve Coogan to star in The Penguin Lessons

OHMYGOSSIP — Steve Coogan has been cast in ‘The Penguin Lessons’.
The 57-year-old actor is to star in the movie from ‘The Full Monty’ helmer Peter Cattaneo with Jeff Pope adapting the script from Tom Michell’s best-selling novel.
‘The Penguin Lessons’ tells the true story of a disillusioned Englishman who goes to work at a school in Argentina in 1976.
He expects an easy ride but instead finds a complicated and divided nation and a class of unteachable young boys.
When he discovers a small penguin washed up on an oil-slicked beach, his life is turned upside down and the bird becomes not only a valued friend, but also a teacher of life’s most important lessons for Tom, the boys and many others.
Rory Aitken and Ben Pugh are producing the movie alongside Robert Walak for the production company 42.
The pair said: “We were captivated by the true story of the unlikely bond between a man and a penguin from the moment we read Tom Michell’s book.
“Jeff Pope, the master of true story adaptation for the screen, has written an enchanting screenplay, with a backdrop of political upheaval and strife which Tom must navigate with his feathered companion.
“We couldn’t imagine anyone better to take on the lead role than Steve Coogan, one of the greatest actors working today, and of course the brilliant Oscar-nominated director Peter Cattaneo with whom we’re thrilled to be working again.”
Cattaneo explained that he was attracted to the story’s “visceral setting of the political strife of late-70s Argentina and a man’s unexpected bond with a penguin at its heart”.

Zachary Levi lands role in survival thriller Not Without Hope

OHMYGOSSIP — Zachary Levi is to star in the survival thriller ‘Not Without Hope’.
The ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ actor is set to take the lead role in the film that is being written and directed by Joe Carnahan and is based on the novel of the same name by Nick Schuyler and Jere Longman.
Based on a true story, ‘Not Without Hope’ centres on best friends Schuyler (Levi) and Will Bleakley, as well as NFL players Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith, as they leave Florida for a day trip to their favourite fishing spot 70 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico.
When a severe storm heads their way, a trapped anchor causes their boat to capsize and throws the four friends violently into the freezing cold water. The US Coast Guard’s rescue mission is thwarted by the ferocity of the storm and the group must fight to survive in a test of teamwork and endurance.
Schuyler was the only survivor of the 2009 incident as his three friends succumbed to hypothermia.
Levi, 42, said: “I am truly honoured to be part of this deeply moving project. ‘Not Without Hope’ is a tragic true story of loss and courage, that’s important to share.”
Carnahan – who also serves as a producer on the film – added: “Nick Schuyler’s gruelling trial at sea and his ultimate survival is a deeply inspiring tale of determination and perseverance but we have a much greater responsibility with this movie as it will hopefully serve as a lasting memorial to the men who lost their lives alongside him during that terrible ordeal.
“We have to honour their final sacrifice and never lose sight of the larger moral obligation we have as filmmakers with ‘Not Without Hope’.”
