Sebastian Stan compares playing Donald Trump in The Apprentice to ‘riding a psychotic horse’

OHMYGOSSIP — Sebastian Stan has likened playing Donald Trump to “riding a psychotic horse through a blazing stable”.
The 42-year-old star portrays the former US president in Ali Abbasi’s movie ‘The Apprentice’, which delves into his early years as a real estate businessman in New York, and confessed that it was daunting to take on the part of such a polarising figure.
In an interview with Empire magazine, Sebastian said: “Working on it with Ali was like riding a psychotic horse through a blazing stable.
“We’re talking about somebody that everyone has an opinion about, that everyone has an impression of, that everyone has strong feelings for.”
The ‘Fresh’ actor explained how he watched plenty of material featuring Trump and others impersonating the controversial politician but didn’t want his portrayal to have too much outside influence.
He said: “I watched everything. I watched stuff that impersonators did. All the things. But I also just had to go towards the collaboration and the vision that I was sharing with Ali.”
‘The Apprentice’ explores how Trump became the figure he is today through the guidance of New York attorney Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong) and Stan declared that the flick “normalises” the former White House chief to an extent.
He explained: “The film normalises him. To some degree.
“There’s a preference to speak about him in a very selective, sort of distanced way. Like he’s this separate entity from the rest of us humans here on Earth.
“He’s either God, in the skies, blessed by everything, or he’s like Satan incarnate into the depths of Earth. And the truth is, he’s a human being.”
Sebastian added: “The movie shows there is much more here to relate and understand than I think we’re willing to admit. And to me, there’s a journey of watching a man turn to stone over a process of time.”

Rudolph Walker was ‘homeless and penniless’ while working on EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Rudolph Walker was secretly “homeless and penniless” for two years while working on ‘EastEnders’.
The 84-year-old soap legend – who has played Patrick Trueman since 2001 – kept his secret “double life” hidden from his co-stars and children but would often break down and cry in “utter despair” as he headed to work.
Rudolph’s problems started in the mid-2010s due to the legal costs of his divorce from Dounne Alexander and, with nothing but his car to his name, he relied on staying with friends and hoping for night shoots on the soap so he’d have to be put up in a hotel.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It was painful. It was extremely difficult. I just didn’t have any financial means. I was literally starting from scratch again in my 70s, with nowhere to live. It was a time of great pain and loneliness.
“Some days on my way to the studio, I would pull up at the side of the road, have a cry.
“I’d pull myself together, arrive at the studio and the environment would act as a tonic, and I was ready to go. I suppose it was a sort of double life.”
Rudolph hit his lowest point after securing a stay in a cheap hotel.
He recalled: “There was a wash basin, small bed, and a TV in the corner, with a communal shower and toilet in the corridor.
“I sat on the bed and cried. Questions of: ‘Who am I? Why am I in this position?’ There was no way the public watching me as Patrick every other night were aware that was what was happening.”
And he claimed only his co-star Diane Parish, who plays Denise Fox, had an idea there was something wrong and would pull her friend aside to see if he was OK.
Rudolph said: “Diane knew there was something going on, but I never revealed the depth of what was happening. I am who I am.”
But the former ‘Love Thy Neighbour’ actor – who has two adult children, Darren, 52, and 48-year-old Sheona – is now “extremely happy” with where his life is now, back on his feet and surrounded by “fantastic” neighbours in Reading.
He said: “I know today, people will go to a psychiatrist, seek help, and maybe I should have done, but I was getting it with the people that I had around me.
“I am where I am today because of decisions I made over the years. Am I happy with where I am today? Yes, I’m extremely happy. [So] maybe someone, the old man up there, is looking after me…
“Never give up. One of the things that always sticks with me is where there’s life, there’s hope.”

Sir David Jason: Making Del Boy rich was a mistake

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Jason believes it was a mistake for the Trotters to become millionaires in ‘Only Fools and Horses’.
The 84-year-old actor’s alter ego Derek ‘Del Boy’ Trotter and his brother Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) finally fulfilled their dreams of making it big in the 1996 Christmas special ‘Time On Our Hands’, and the veteran star believes the plot left the show with nowhere else to go because it had been the family’s struggles and desperate quests to make money that had made the show funny.
Speaking at a fan convention, the Daily Mirror newspaper reports he said: “There was nowhere to go after the Trotters became millionaires and it all worked out. It was the end of a journey and the journey was that struggle for survival, the struggle for the family, the way that they behaved, that interaction and all of that stuff that made the Trotters ceased to exist once they had become millionaires, if you like.”
Writer John Sullivan revived the programme for three more specials between 2001 and 2003, which saw Del and Rodney return to their Peckham flat after losing all their money, but the episodes failed to hit the heights of the original show.
David reflected: “It wasn’t that John had run out of steam so much, but he was so used to working mentally with all of the characters, the style of the cut and thrust of learning to survive on the edge of disaster, as it were.”
Despite ending two decades ago, ‘Only Fools and Horses’ is rarely off TV screens thanks to repeats and streaming services and David admits it’s hard for him to go anywhere without being mobbed by fans desperate for a selfie and a chat.
He previously said: “Del Boy is a character that I can’t avoid. He’s become so ingrained in the public’s mind that where I got, I tend to be recognised and then what happens is that people can’t help but interfere with your private life.
“It’s part of the job. It’s part of giving your time and your life to the Great British public, God bless them.”

Tasha Ghouri not concerned about Strictly Come Dancing curse

OHMYGOSSIP — Tasha Ghouri and Andrew La Page are not worried about the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ curse.
The 26-year-old beauty is competing on the new series of the BBC Latin and ballroom contest and while other contestants have seen their relationships crumble due to the stresses of the show and closeness to their dance partners, she insisted it isn’t something that concerns her because she believes her partner – who she met on ‘Love Island’ two years ago – is the “hottest man on this whole planet”.
She gushed to The Sun newspaper: “Andrew, to me, is the hottest man on this whole planet.
“I look at him and I’m like: ‘Yeah, that’s my man!’ Me and Andrew trust each other 100 per cent.
“It’s not a make-or-break for us. We’re going to breeze through this because we’re going to marry each other one day, you know?
“It doesn’t bother us at all. We didn’t have a discussion about ‘the Strictly curse’ because we trust each other.
“It doesn’t play on our mind.”
And Andrew has hit it off with Tasha’s dance partner, Aljaz Skorjanec.
She added: “He has no worries at all. If anything, he was super-happy and could see the great partnership we had. He came to rehearsals the other day and watched for a little bit.
“Aljaz taught Andrew some dance moves, which was funny.
“Aljaz is so happy with his wife [Janette Manrara] and we went on a double date last night, and had a lovely dinner with their beautiful daughter, Lyra. Andrew’s been so supportive through it all.”
Tasha was born deaf and had a cochlear implant fitted when she was five so she hopes to inspire other young girls going through similar issues.
She said: “I’m doing ‘Strictly’ because it’s been my biggest dream. It’s genuinely been a goal for years, even more than Love Island.
“I watch it and I’m like, ‘I want to be on that dance floor one day.’ And I’m doing it for representation.
“I want to inspire younger Tashas out there who struggle with confidence and self-love.”

Sir Ridley Scott wants to make Gladiator 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Ridley Scott is “already toying with” plans for ‘Gladiator 3′.
The 86-year-old actor will release the sequel to his 2000 classic next month and he thinks the plot of the new film – which sees Paul Mescal take centre stage as Lucius as he enters the Colosseum to fight and return glory to Rome – has paved the way for another installment in the franchise to follow at a later date.
He told France’s Premiere magazine: “With that, I’m already toying with the idea of ’Gladiator 3’. No, seriously! I’ve lit the fuse…
“The ending of ‘Gladiator II’ is reminiscent of ‘The Godfather’, with Michael Corleone finding himself with a job he didn’t want, and wondering, ‘Now, Father, what do I do?’ So the next [film] will be about a man who doesn’t want to be where he is.”
Ridley recently declared ‘Gladiator II’ to be one of his best ever films.
He told Empire magazine: “It’s the best thing I’ve ever made … One of the best things. I’ve made a few good ’uns.”
This comes after the filmmaker revealed the project – which also stars Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal and Joseph Quinn – boasts the “biggest action sequence” of his entire career, even bigger than his 2023 historical drama ‘Napoleon’.
He explained: “We begin the film with probably the biggest action sequence I’ve ever done. [It’s] probably bigger than anything in ‘Napoleon’.”
Meanwhile, in 2023, Ridley revealed that he decided to make ‘Gladiator II’ because it made sense “economically”.
The award-winning director told Deadline: “I thought the [first] film was, as it were, completely satisfactory, creatively complete, so why muck with it, right?
“But these cycles keep going on and on and on, they repeat globally for the last 20 years. It started to spell itself out as an obvious thing to do, and that’s how it evolved.”

Aaron Eckhart to star in Scorpion

OHMYGOSSIP — Aaron Eckhart is to star in ‘Scorpion’.
The ‘Chief of Station’ actor has signed up to star in director Jesse V. Johnson’s upcoming action thriller, which has been written by Corey Large – who will also produce via his 308 Enterprises banner – and Ed Drake, Deadline reports.
‘Scorpion’ will follow a CIA assassin, who goes into hiding after taking the wrap for a failed mission. But when he reemerges, the past also comes back to haunt him and he needs to take down the agency boss who set him up in order to protect his daughter.
Further casting information will be announced in due course.
The ‘Dark Knight’ actor can next be seen in ‘Deep Water’ and a few months ago, he signed up to star in another of Jesse’s films, ‘Thieves Highway’, with Devon Sawa.
Aaron will play an Oklahoma Stock Detective who is in over his head in the world of modern cattle rustling.
Travis Mills has written the film’s script and it is being produced by Corey Large for his 308 Enterprises banner.
Meanwhile, Aaron previously revealed that he loves working on independent films as the cast and crew are always “on the edge”.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “Independent movie-making is certainly more like the Wild, Wild West. You’re on the edge all the time. You don’t know if you’re going to make your days. You don’t know if you’re going to have enough money for the next day. There’s also a lot of freedom in that.
“It’s exciting to me because I can change the words if I want. I can improvise. I can make stuff up. When I’m on a big-budget movie, I’m not doing that. It’s more corporate.”

Glenn Close says new film The Deliverance has made her body confident

OHMYGOSSIP — Glenn Close’s new movie has made her feel more confident about her body.
The 77-year-old actress plays the complex Alberta in ‘The Deliverance’ and it was a “big step” for her to move away from her instinctive urge to “cover up” her body and “embrace” how she has changed with age.
Asked about becoming her character, she told Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “It started with working with Lee [Daniels, director] and the wonderful cast to determine who this woman really is and why.
“The next big step for me, in terms of the physical transformation, was really about the clothes.
“I wanted to shift my perspective of my body and how I tend to cover up the parts I don’t like – my arms, for example.
“Alberta is the complete opposite of that.
“She embraces her body and all the changes that come with age. She really believes she is the sexiest woman in the world.
“That was a revelation for me in playing this character – and for me as a person, actually. I’m trying to keep a little piece of Alberta.”
Glenn admitted she went on a “real journey” trying to understand her character and how to play the role in the supernatural horror film about an exorcism.
She said: “From the moment Lee Daniels called me, I was immediately fascinated by the story, his vision as a filmmaker and how complex this character he wanted me to play was.
“I honestly had no idea how to play her at first. So it was a real journey for me.
“Alberta is a woman struggling with her own painful history. She has been abused in her life and because of that, she has become an abuser.
“She is doing her best to clean up her life and be a positive influence on her daughter.”

Winona Ryder

OHMYGOSSIP — Winona Ryder was overcome with emotion when she arrived on set to film ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’.
The 52-year-old actress reprises her role as Lydia Deetz in Tim Burton’s sequel to his 1988 supernatural comedy and it was particularly “special” to see Michael Keaton back in character as the titular ghost with the most.
She said: “I was welling up with emotion. To work with Michael again, someone who, like Tim, was so protective and encouraging to me at such a young age, was so special.
“It was so movie for me to be back in costume and in that environment.
“It felt so free, like it was an independent film and we could try anything.”
Winona admits that she said yes to the sequel before there was even a script finished.
Speaking to OK! magazine, she explained: “Like anything with Tim, it has to be right. It was never going to be a sequel just for the sake of it.”
But when she did finally get given the plot, Winona was shocked to find her character had a daughter of her own.
She said: “I have to admit it was an aspect of the character that surprised me at first.
“Because of who she is from the first film, I think you kind of imagine her staying a loner and maybe not having a kid as part of whatever life she does on to lead.
“But as soon as Tim explained his vision for the sequel and Lydia’s part in it as a mother herself now, I was excited.”
Despite her years of success since starring in ‘Beetlejuice’, Winona admitted her memories of shooting her breakout film has always been particularly “special” to her.
She said: “I remember it all… every moment.
“I remember how special it felt and how included I was made to feel by Tim.
“I had never experienced working on something in such a collaborative way before.
“To be that young, just 15, and to be asked what you think about a scene or an element of your character felt very special to me and I have always appreciated and cherished that experience.”

Daisy Edgar-Jones and Jacob Elordi had to follow intimacy ‘rules’ on the set of On Swift Horses

OHMYGOSSIP — Daisy Edgar-Jones and Jacob Elordi had to follow intimacy “rules” on the set of ‘On Swift Horses’.
The 26-year-old actress stars opposite ‘Priscilla’ actor Jacob, 27, in the new drama film that follows Muriel (Edgar-Jones) and her husband Lee (Will Poulter) as well as his brother Julius (Elordi) all starting a new life in Las Vegas together after the end of the Korean War but director Daniel Minahan was keen to ensure that precautions had been taken in order to ensure the “authenticity ” of intimate scenes.
He told Collider: ” We set some rules for ourselves which just seemed organic. When we’re in, let’s say Kansas, it had a very formal film language. When we were in the housing development, it had a kind of rigid quality to it because we wanted it to feel confining. When we were in the private spaces with the queer characters, we were always handheld — it was the one place, in these small places, where they could be free.
“We encouraged improvisation, but we encouraged the operators not to be afraid of making messy frames, not to be afraid of lens flares, so that it had an authenticity to it or a kind of roughness to it. We also really choreographed and rehearsed those with the actors. That was how we got to it.”
Daniel also admitted that several scenes from the film didn’t make the final cut just so moments of dramatic dialogue could really have their time to shine.
He said: “There were a number. There was more with the horse. Horses always eat up a lot of time. There was more with the horse that Julius springs, which we found it was just more effective without those scenes. We just removed some of the horse stuff and pared down a lot of the dialogue, so where there were big speeches, they really had weight.”

TOWIE star Pete Wicks begs Strictly Come Dancing viewers to ‘give him a chance’

OHMYGOSSIP — Pete Wicks wants ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ viewers to “give him a chance” in the competition.
The 36-year-old reality star is best known for appearing on ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ and recently admitted that he had “never” watched the BBC Latin and ballroom show before signing up for it but insisted that his brash demeanour has become a “caricature” over the years.
He told The Sunday Mirro’s Notebook magazine: “It is a different kind of person that watches ‘Strictly’ and many will have a preconceived idea of who I am.
“A lot of press over the years has been a caricature of me. If viewers give me a chance, they might realise I’m not that bad. I just hope I don’t make a complete t** of myself. I don’t even dance at weddings- I stand at the bar and get p*****!”
Pete – who is also currently on screens appearing in ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’ and has also done ‘Celebs Go Dating’ and ‘The Celebrity Circle’ amongst others over the years – admitted that signing up for the dance competition series was not something he ever expected himself to do, and explained that his professional partner Jowita Przystał is determined to start the show all guns blazing.
He said: “I’m just a normal bloke from a council estate. I’ve done some mad stuff over the years, but the last thing I ever thought I’d do would be covering myself in sequins and learning dances I can’t pronounce the names of!”.
“”Someone said, ‘It’s quite complicated for a first dance,’ and Jowita went, ‘No – we’re coming into this competition kicking the door down!’ I just hope she’s not dragging me round like a corpse…

John Torode and Lisa Faulkner don’t spend ‘all their time’ together despite joint TV stardom

OHMYGOSSIP — John Torode and Lisa Faulkner don’t spend much time together.
The 59-year-old chef has been married to the former ‘Brookside’ actress, 52, since 2019, and while the pair front ‘John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen’ for ITV as well as writing a host of recipe books together, Lisa has now insisted that the time they have together in the studio is actually limited.
She told The Sunday Express’ Sunday Magazine: “The thing is, we don’t really work together very often. When we shoot our show, it’s a 10-day shoot and obviously leading up to that we’re writing recipes, we’re sitting at different ends of the table, just writing or tapping away and then testing. But then John goes off to do ‘MasterChef’ and I might be filming a series in Manchester. We don’t spend all our time together. So when we do get to work together, it’s lovely.”
Lisa – who has carved out her own culinary career since winning ‘Celebrity Masterchef’ in 2010 – also explained that the key difference between herself and John when it comes to cooking is that he has a much more “methodical” approach to things than she does, whilst she isn’t quite so “neat” when whipping things up in the kitchen.
She added: “He is very methodical. Obviously. He’s a chef. Everything has an order. When he cooks, it’s all very, very neat. Whereas when I cook, I think I’m neat, but I’m not. “With John, everything has its order, its place.
“He’s got the plates out and everything. If we have people over on a Sunday afternoon, on Sunday morning all the plates are out, ready. Everything’s sorted. So he knows what’s going on.”

Brookside star Louis Emerick hits out at ‘stigma’ surrounding soap actors: ‘They’re underestimated’

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Emerick thinks there is a “stigma” surrounding soap actors.
The 64-year-old star made his name playing Mick Johnson on Channel 4’s now-defunct serial ‘Brookside’ and went on to appear in the likes of ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘Doctors’ over the years but has hit out at critics of the genre as he claimed that continuing dramas do not always get the praise they deserve.
He told The Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “Soap actors are underestimated. There is still a stigma.
“But some of the scenes you get on a soap wouldn’t look out of place on a drama. Look at the stuff they are doing now. If some of those storylines were on a drama, people would be saying, ‘That’s fantastic’. But because they’re on soaps, people don’t make enough fuss.”
The former ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ star worked alongside esteemed performers Ricky Tomlinson and Sue Johnston – who would later go on to appear as Jim and Barbara Royle in the BBC sitcom ‘The Royle Family’ – on ‘Brookside’ and insisted that things “don’t get better” than that sort of talent.
He said: “When soaps do things well it’s as good and as powerful and as relevant as anything that’s on other shows.
“When I was at ‘Brookside’ we had Sue Johnston and Ricky Tomlinson in the cast. It doesn’t get better than that.”
Louis has also appeared in ‘Casualty’ and ‘Holby City’ over the years and believes that the only two he has yet to conquer are ITV’s Yorkshire-based ‘Emmerdale’ and the BBC flagship ‘EastEnders’.
He said: “I think the only soaps I haven’t been in are Emmerdale and EastEnders. Being in so many of them isn’t something I planned.
“First and foremost I’m an actor for hire. I want to be working and I want to be in something that’s good.
“I want to find something that keeps the creative juices flowing and makes me want to go to work in the morning. Soaps tick that box and I’ve been fortunate enough to be in so many of them.”

‘We’ve got some ideas’: Transformers One producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura teases potential trilogy

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Transformers One’ producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has hinted the movie could be the start of a trilogy.
The animated film – which stars Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson and Jon Hamm – is due to hit cinemas on Friday (20.09.24) and the producer has now teased there might be further instalments to the series provided the flick impresses at the box office.
When Collider asked Di Bonaventura and director Josh Cooley if a trilogy was possible, the producer said: “I don’t think anything’s changed for us.
“The truth of the matter is you never get to the second movie unless everybody shows up at the box office. We both said to ourselves, ‘This is way too hard to make one good movie to start thinking a lot about the second movie.'”
Di Bonaventura – who has been attached to the franchise since 1986’s ‘The Transformers: The Movie’ – teased the upcoming film had several story threads about Optimus Prime (Hemsworth) and Megatron (Henry) that could easily be picked up in a future picture.
He said: “Along the way, there were ideas that we were like, ‘Well, that can’t fit in here. Let’s hold onto that. Let’s not forget that idea.’ Although I’m sure we’ve forgotten some of them.”
Cooley agreed and added they were definitely toying with the idea of making more entries into the series, but emphasised that he and Di Bonaventura were going to wait to “see what happens” with the new movie.
He said: “I can’t help but … Yes, we were thinking of this one story for this moment, for this movie, but it’s about towards the last year of a film where I can’t help but go like, ‘Well, how would this [to] naturally progress?’
“So we’ve got some ideas, we talked about a few things, and we’ll see what happens.”

‘I know nothing!’: Joel McHale addresses rumoured Jurassic World Rebirth casting

OHMYGOSSIP — Joel McHale has denied claims that he is going to star in ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’.
The ‘Community’ star, 52, was rumoured to have joined the upcoming blockbuster but insists that the stories about his casting in the movie are nothing but hearsay.
When Collider asked the actor whether he was in ‘Rebirth’, he said: “If you know something that would be great. Because I don’t know anything. I know nothing! I don’t know; no one’s asked me.”
‘The Bear’ actor – who has children Edward, 19, and Isaac, 16, with his wife Sarah Williams – joked his youngest son had teased him about the rumours when stories about McHale’s casting began to circulate online.
He laughed: “My 16-year-old was making fun of me. He was like, ‘Hey Dad, I heard you’re gonna be in ‘Jurassic World’. Boy, how wrong are they, huh?’
“And I was like, ‘Okay, kid … No, I have not heard — no, I don’t know where that started.'”
If ‘The Soup’ star’s rumoured casting turns out to be true, the actor would be joining the likes of Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey and Scarlett Johansson in the upcoming blockbuster, which is being helmed by ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ director Gareth Edwards and is due to hit theatres in July 2025.
Previously, 39-year-old Johansson had gushed about appearing in the franchise and admitted she had been fighting for a part in the series for 15 years.
During an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, she told the host: “I have been trying to get in the franchise for like 15 years, like, really to do anything at all. I mean, I would happily die immediately.”
The ‘Avengers: Endgame’ star joked she was so excited to have landed a role in ‘Rebirth’ that she had to be reminded to pretend to be scared of the dinosaurs during some scenes.
She said: “So, with every single shot of the movie, I’m like this (staring in awe). They’re like, ‘No, fear, fear is in your eyes!'”

OHMYGOSSIP — Clelia Theodorou has announced she is engaged to marry her long-term boyfriend Tommy Cole.
‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star, 29, confirmed the happy news in a post on Instagram on Thursday (19.09.24) almost exactly a tear after the couple welcomed their first child together by posting a picture of her sparkling diamond ring.
Clelia followed the snap up with a clip of her baby daughter Cielo wearing a babygro emblazoned with the words: “Mummy and Daddy are getting married”.
The TV star added: “A million times yes. It’s crazy to think back to the days when we didn’t know each other then all of a sudden there was you and you became everything. Mummy and Daddy are getting married.”

After the accident, Clelia shared her heartbreak in a post on Instagram, writing: “At the end of May myself and my mum were unfortunately involved in an accident, we both suffered terrible injuries.
“I am continuing to heal from mine after weeks in hospital but it’s with the biggest regret to say that my beautiful Mum couldn’t heal from hers.

“It just doesn’t feel real and it never will, I just want my mum back.”
