Tom Parker’s widow and children to support Siva Kaneswaran at Dancing On Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Parker’s widow and children will be supporting Siva Kaneswaran as he pays tribute to his late The Wanted bandmate on ‘Dancing On Ice’ on Sunday (05.03.23) evening.
The skating celebrities will this week perform a personal routine and the 34-year-old singer and his professional partner Klabera Komini will perform to his band’s own track ‘Gold Forever’ in honour of the late star, who died from a brain tumour last March.
And Kelsey Parker is planning to be in the audience for the performance along with her and Tom’s kids Aurelia, three, and two-year-old Bodhi, though she admitted the tribute is likely to “break” her.
She told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “I’ve told the kids we are going to watch Uncle Siva, that he’s dancing to Daddy’s song, and there are going to be pictures of Daddy around – and they are so excited.
“It is going to be really tough for me to sit there, because the song makes me so emotional. But then it’s bittersweet, because I’m going to be so proud of Siva, and I want to celebrate Tom. It’s nearly a year since we lost him, and he would still want to be in everyone’s thoughts.
“So why wouldn’t we celebrate him? But it doesn’t make it any less hard.
“That we are going to watch someone pay tribute to Tom, dancing to his song is incredible, but it is going to break me.”
Kelsey thinks it is “important” to keep Tom’s name in the public eye because she wants to campaign for more funding into brain tumour research, so she’s thankful Siva will be paying tribute to his friend.
She said: “I have a platform and I want to use it. Tom would have wanted me to use it too. It is shocking how little funding goes into researching brain tumours, and I have the passion to campaign for more, because it really infuriates me.
“If more funding was channelled into that research, Tom would be here. That is why it is so important that we are still talking about him, and that Siva will go on Dancing on Ice tonight to celebrate him. I know that whatever he does will be beautiful.
“It will be tough, but I am going to take deep breaths and try to enjoy it.”

Helen George has ‘genuine fear’ of Call the Midwife axe

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen George has a “genuine fear” of being axed from ‘Call the Midwife’.
The 38-year-old actress’ alter ego Trixie Franklin is one of the few characters on the period drama that has been involved since it began in 2012 but the blonde beauty insisted she doesn’t take her job for granted because “you never know” when show bosses will decide they think characters have come to the end of the road.
Speaking during a live Q+A with RadioTimes.com, Helen said of her concern: “You never have complete control. Absolutely, it’s a genuine fear. You never know. And they might just come to a point where they think, ‘Do you know what, we’ve got nothing more to say about your character. There’s nothing left to do with you. So you’re off.’ It happens.”
Helen also admitted she’d love to see some of her former castmates return when the show finally does come to an end.
She said: “We’ve talked about that. Wouldn’t it be nice? Like at the end of Titanic, all the characters come and it’s just beautiful. It would have been amazing to have everybody.
“Look, you’ll have to wait and see. But it’ll be nice at some point – maybe at the end of the very, very last series – to get some of the old faces back, for sure.”
When pressed on who she would choose, she singled out Charlotte Ritchie, Emerald Fennell, Pam Ferris, Victoria Yeates and “lovely” Bryony Hannah.
But then she added: “All of them!”
‘Call The Midwife’ was recently renewed for another two seasons, meaning it will be on air until at least 2026 so it seems Helen’s reunion dream won’t be coming to fruition for some time.

Jake Humphrey banned from Strictly Come Dancing by wife

OHMYGOSSIP — Jake Humphrey’s wife “banned” him from taking part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The BBC Sport presenter admitted he has rejected a number of approaches to be on the programme, in part because his spouse Harriet had worked backstage on the show in 2004 and witnessed the infamous ‘Strictly curse’ – which has seen celebrity contestants’ relationships end while on the show, often amid speculation about their closeness to their professional partners – in action.
Jake – who has children Florence, nine, and Sebastian, seven, with Harriet – told The Sun on Sunday newspaper’s Bizarre column: “When I was doing Formula 1, I regularly had to field requests from ‘Strictly’ but there were two reasons for not doing it.
“The first was that I was always away at that time of year and the second was that my wife worked on the show, and she was like: ‘You are never going on that show, I know what happens to couples that go on that show!’ I was banned from doing that one.”
Meanwhile, Jake admitted he is desperate to get rapper Stormzy on his ‘High Performance’ podcast after the ‘Vossi Bop’ hitmaker previously professed to being a fan.
He said: “I know that he listens. He invited us up to Glasgow to watch one of his shows.
“We haven’t yet been able to nail a date but I would love to.”
The 44-year-old presenter previously singled out Matthew McConaughey as one of his favourite guests on the podcast.
He said: “He was amazing. He spoke about an optimistic mindset, and said he kept a journal every single day – and when things were bad, instead of wondering why, he read his journal around periods when he was feeling good. And he looked at what he was doing, the lessons he was taking, the people he was hanging out with, and he was able to get himself back into that positive space. I thought that was a really fantastic way of looking at life.”

‘I shouldn’t have done it!’ Jason Statham reveals worst stunt injuries

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonathan Statham had endured “so many injuries” over the course of his acting career.
The 55-year-old actor has performed a variety of stunts in various action films over the years and has ended up with injuries such as a torn bicep and almost “faceplanted” the ground at a speed of 30mph.
He told Collider: “There have been a couple of situations. I think when we shot ‘Crank’, we were hanging out of a real helicopter. “A lot of the things we do now – with ‘The Expendables’ – anytime you’re on a helicopter it’s usually on a green screen. But with ‘Crank’, we were actually in a helicopter. We’re shooting a fight scene where I was standing on the skids, we have a small pick there. So it was a real stunt, you know, that one was pretty tricky.
“There [were] a couple of jumps in that movie, over this car park, I was hanging on a gold tail, it’s quite almost like a blind jump. There [were] a few things in that gig that were pretty tricky. I did a little jump in the ‘Transporter 2’, or a jump from the back of a jet ski onto the back of a bus. It wasn’t a very safe stunt. I shouldn’t have done it, there was no safety wire, but I just did that. I mean, if I’d have missed the back of the bus, it would have been a faceplant at 30 mph into the concrete. Just silly things that I’ve done.
“Most of the most annoying things, like I’ve had a torn bicep, you have to try and finish the movie. Most of the things are just real niggles and problems with your soft tissue and your joints. You know, I’ve hurt my neck, I’ve got so many injuries that have accumulated over the past just doing stunts and hitting the ground.”
The ‘Wrath of Man’ star – who trained as a kickboxer in his youth – went on to add that he is “nursing” a lot of ailments from his long career but insisted that the pain is worth it because he wants things to come across as “authentic” on screen.
He added: “I’m nursing a lot of bad injuries… A lot of the things we do, it’s because our ego gets in front of us, and we want it to be authentic. We want people to see that that’s us doing it. We want the audience to go for the ride. A lot of the decisions, I think I’m getting a bit smarter now. I think I’ll try and be smart because of the necessity to be smart as my body is wearing out a little bit. Some of the niggles.”

Jonathan Majors and Michael B Jordan want to make more movies together

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonathan Majors and Michael B. Jordan are planning to make more films together.
The two stars are currently promoting their latest movie ‘Creed III’ and had such a good time working on the project – which Michael also directed, as well as starring in as Adonis Creed – they hope to develop an enduring partnership.
Asked if they’ll work together again, Michael told the New York Times newspaper: “We plan on it.”
Jonathan – who plays series newcomer Damian Anderson – quipped: “De Niro and Pacino.”
Michael then added: “We’re excited about that, and I have those conversations with him. Acting is such a solo journey, where you’re fighting for your place on that call sheet for such a long time.
“So when you’ve got somebody that doesn’t care as much about that stuff, it’s like, ‘Let’s go. How much damage can we do together?’”
Jonathan replied: “All of it.”
Michael admitted he put pressure on himself as first-time director, including when it came to pitching Jonathan for the role.
He said: “I was all in my head, like, ‘OK, what are the things I would want to hear? This dude can do a million different things right now. What’s going to make him take a chance on this actor-director who hasn’t directed [anything]?’
“I knew I had to be truthful about what this project means to me and I wanted to make sure he knew.”
After agreeing to sign up for the film, Jonathan admitted Michael’s perception of his performance was the most important thing to him.
He said: “I care most about what he thinks.”
Meanwhile, Michael was nervous about his family seeing the film.
He said: “My mom’s seen it, and my dad just got back from Ghana, so I’m going to show it to him.”

Siva Kaneswaran and Mollie Gallagher exit Dancing on Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Siva Kaneswaran and Mollie Gallagher have been voted off ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The 34-year-old singer and the 25-year-old actress have become the latest celebrities to leave the ITV show, following a double elimination.
After her exit was announced, Mollie – who skated alongside Sylvain Longchambon – said: “Honestly, it’s truly been the best experience.
“It’s everything I thought I couldn’t do … Sylvain has been the most patient and talented person.”
Mollie skated to the sound of ‘My Immortal’ by Evanescence.
The actress explained that she listened to the track while preparing to shoot some harrowing scenes on ‘Coronation Street.
Before taking to the ice, she said: “This performance, it’s for everybody out there for feels like they don’t fit in and I’m just proud to do it for everyone that feels that way.”
Ashley Banjo subsequently praised her efforts, even though it didn’t save her from elimination.
He said: “It was your highest score of the series and I hope you’re really proud of it because you’ve grown in confidence.”
Siva, meanwhile, paid tribute to his former Wanted bandmate Tom Parker, who died in March 2020, aged 33.
The pop star skated to The Wanted’s ‘Gold Forver’, which was re-released following Tom’s death.
Siva – who skated alongside Klabera Komini – said: “I never found the words to figure out how I feel about him not being around. It’s really hard. I miss him a lot.
“Tom sings the first line of the song so it’s going to be really hard to hear his voice.
“I learned from being around Tom to use the hurt to do something positive. He used the brain cancer to raise so much awareness and that was the most inspiring thing I saw in my entire life.”

Casey O’Gorman and Ron Hall clash on Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Casey O’Gorman became embroiled in a heated row with Ron Hall in the latest episode of ‘Love Island’.
The 26-year-old recruitment consultant clashed with Ron, 25, after he told Rosie Seabrook that he prioritises spending time with the boys over spending time with her.
Initially, Ron told Rosie: “If you want to prepare yourself for the outside world, [he needs] to get to know you a lot quicker.
“The only way you’re going to do that is by spending more one-to-one time with you … I think he loves being one of the three musketeers [with Tom and Will] a lot … I would say just keep a little bit of space, see where he goes.”
Rosie then told Casey about the advice she’d received from Ron.
Speaking to Casey, she explained: “He made a comment that you prioritise the boys over me and he said that I should take a step back.”
However, Ron subsequently rubbished that suggestion.
He told Casey: “I never said you prioritise your time – I said you like being around Will and Tom.”
Later in the episode, Ron explained how he’d approached the show from the outset.
He said: “When I was a viewer … I thought, the ones who have their drama nice and early and then get comfy and treat it like a holiday, they’re the ones who are probably like, they just cruise.
“I can see why people probably thought, ‘Oh Lana and Ron are just cruising through.’ I’m not bothered by any of that. As I know I’m not, otherwise I never would have made her my girlfriend – it means too much to me.”

Christine McGuinness stayed in ‘unhappy’ marriage because she ‘doesn’t like change’

OHMYGOSSIP — Christine McGuinness stayed in an “unhappy” marriage to TV star Paddy McGuinness because she doesn’t “like change”.
The 34-year-old model split from the ‘Top Gear’ presenter – the father of her three children – last summer after 11 years of marriage and she has now opened up about the breakdown of their relationship in a new documentary which tells the story of her autism diagnosis two years ago.
Speaking in BBC film ‘Christine McGuinness: Unmasking My Autism’, she explained: “My relationships before I met Patrick were not very good. I’d say they were pretty bad experiences.
“Before Patrick, I had been sexually abused, I was raped. I used to pray every night that I wouldn’t wake up in the morning because it was so awful. When I met my husband that was a time when I was very safe and I wonder if that’s why I stayed. I know that I’ve stayed in a place where I was probably unhappy because it was safe and I don’t like change.”
The documentary is due to air on March 15 and Christine hopes it will help shine a light on autism after she was diagnosed along with her twins Penelope, and Leo, eight, and daughter Felicity, six.
In a post on Instagram, she wrote: “I’m excited, nervous and proud to present this incredible short film that I truly hope and believe will help thousands of autistics feel understood, recognised and valued.”
Christine previously appeared in another documentary called ‘Our Family And Autism’ in 2021 alongside her estranged husband which focused on how they cared for their three children.

OHMYGOSSIP — The next instalment in the ‘Alien’ movie franchise is moving forward with a cast of young rising stars.
‘Don’t Breathe’ director Fede Alvarez is taking charge of the ninth film in the sci-fi series – which has the working title of ‘Alien: Romulus’ with ‘The Craft: Legacy’ star Cailee Spaeny taking on a lead role which has been compared to Sigourney Weaver’s character Ellen Ripley – and she has now been joined by David Jonsson who made his feature film debut in British rom-com ‘Rye Lane’ – and Archie Renaux who previously appeared in ‘The Greatest Beer Run Ever’ and ‘Morbius’.
Joining them in the line-up is Spike Fearn – who has been seen in ‘The Batman’ and ‘Aftersun’ – and ‘Fish Tank’ star Aileen Wu.

Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan to reunite for Ghosts special

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan are reuniting for a charity episode of ‘Ghosts’.
The former lovers and ‘Neighbours’ co-stars – who famously played Scott and Charlene on the Australia soap – will make a special appearance in the Comic Relief episode of the hit BBC One sitcom.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Getting Kylie and Jason back together is a real coup and the results are hilarious.
“The episode is really tongue in cheek and they crack gags about their history and music.
“It was all kept hush-hush on set to keep the secret that they were both reuniting for the show.”
The episode will air during the Comic Relief telethon on March 17.
Kylie and Jason, both 54, reunited for what was thought to be the final episode of ‘Neighbours’ last summer, and the pop star admitted it was an emotional day of filming.
She shared a number of pictures of herself and Jason in character as Charlene and Scott and wrote: “Yep, there were tears! Congratulations to the @neighbours team for the heart-warming and celebratory finale. You’ll be in my heart always!!! #neighbours @jdonofficial.”
Kylie joined the cast of ‘Neighbours’ in 1986 but left the series in 1988 to embark on a pop career and went on to enjoy decades of chart success with hits such as ‘I Should Be So Lucky’, and ‘Can’t Get You out of My Head’ and even teamed up with then-boyfriend Jason to release chart-topper ‘Especially For You’ in 1989, which could be heard playing as the on-screen couple made their return to Ramsay Street in the then-finale.
‘Neighbours’ initially aired on BBC One from 1986 until 2008 before being shown on Channel 5 and the soap relied on funding from the British network but in February 2022, the broadcaster confirmed they were to focus on UK drama instead.
However, ‘Neighbours’ was saved by Amazon Freevee, after the premium video-on-demand (VOD) streaming service bought the rights just months after the show came to an end last July after 37 years on screen.

The Fall Guy’s Stephanie Hsu: Ryan Gosling is so silly

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Gosling’s ‘The Fall Guy’ co-star Stephanie Hsu is “so silly” like her.
The pair star as Colt Seavers and Samantha, respectively, in the upcoming David Leitch action thriller, and the 32-year-old actress revealed just what it was like working with the ‘Drive’ star, 42, and how he was just as “weird” as she is on set.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Stephanie said of shooting the flick: “It’s been so fun. David and [producer Kelly McCormick] showed me a sizzle reel last time I was in Australia and I think it’s going to be so good. Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt — amazing, amazing.”
She added of the Hollywood heartthrob: “I’ve been a huge fan of Ryan’s since forever.
“I’ve always felt that he’s cut from the same kind of weirdo cloth actually, and he definitely is. He’s so funny, so silly and such an artist.”
It was just revealed that the original Colt Seavers, Lee Majors, is set to make an appearance in the movie adaptation.
The 83-year-old actor played the role in the 1980s action series about a Hollywood stuntman who moonlights as a bounty hunter, and couldn’t turn down the chance to make an appearance in the upcoming film following a surprise phone call from director David.
He said: “I’ve just filmed a movie called ‘Gettysburg Christmas’. I’m looking forward to another film with the team behind ‘Renegades’ and, here’s an exclusive for you, yesterday I had a phone call from David Leitch who directed ‘Deadpool’ and ‘John Wick’.
“I knew he was doing ‘The Fall Guy’ movie in Australia with Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt but I was surprised by his call. He asked if I would appear in the movie and so I had to say yes!”
Lee – who was married to late Hollywood pin-up icon Farrah Fawcett from 1973 until 1982 – is also known for his starring role as ‘former astronaut, USAF Colonel Steve Austin in 1970s TV classic ‘The Six Million Dollar Man’ and went on to tease that a big screen adaptation of that could be in the works and explained he would definitely take up the chance to be in it.
He said: “I know Mark Wahlberg is trying to get ‘The Six Billion Dollar Man’ movie made, it has been put back several times, but if they asked me to take a role in that, sure, why not? I like Mark Wahlberg, he’s a good kid!”

Frankie Bridge brands I’m A Celeb hotel a ‘s***hole’

OHMYGOSSIP — Frankie Bridge has branded the old ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ hotel a “s***hole”.
The former Saturdays singer stayed at the five-star Palazzo Versace hotel when her husband Wayne Bridge competed on the ITV reality show Down Under in 2016, and she was appalled by the poor quality furnishings and overpriced ketchup, while she moaned that the place was packed with tourists.
Appearing on Alan Carr’s ‘Life’s a Beach’ podcast, she said: “There were no cushions. When we asked for cushions, they kinda rolled their eyes. When they brought them out it was like the moths had had them.
“Adam Thomas’s wife asked for a pot of ketchup for her little one and it was $2!
“There was a Christmas tree made of teddy bears and you would get loads of coaches turning up –people would pile out, have a picture in front of the tree and then leave.”
The hotel has since been swapped for the Marriott in Gold Coast.
The ‘All Fired Up’ hitmaker herself went on to compete on the show in 2021, however, it was held in North Wales amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The hit show was filmed at Gwrych Castle in 2020 and 2021 due to travel restrictions.
Despite the freezing temperatures in the historic building, Frankie preferred not to be too far away from her boys.
She said: “I’ve always wanted to do it, I feel like it’s kind of like a rite of passage, but the thought of being on the other side of the world to my kids kind of always put me off, even though I wouldn’t be able to see them or speak to them, that would just be a step too far.
“When it was in Wales I was like, ‘OK, cool, this is the time to do it.’ But then, freezing. Should of ditched the kids and gone with Australia.”
Frankie, 34, finished in third place.

Dancing On Ice will return for another series

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Dancing On Ice’ has been recommissioned for another series.
The popular ITV figure skating show – which sees famous faces pair up with professional ice skaters to compete with other couples on the ice rink every Sunday night – will be back in 2024.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “These days channels must be ruthless to win viewers.
“Only this month we’ve seen shows that were still popular be shelved, like ‘I Can See Your Voice’ and ‘You’ve Been Framed’.
“But ‘Dancing On Ice’s recommission now puts it on a par with other big hitters such as ‘The Apprentice’, ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ and ‘Come Dine With Me’.”
Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby host the show, which first launched back in 2006.
‘Dancing On Ice’s fate comes after ITV axed ‘You’ve Been Framed!’.
The long-running clip show – which was originally fronted by Jeremy Beadle when it launched in 1990, while Harry Hill has served as narrator since 2004 – saw members of the public send in videos of their own surprising mishaps for the enjoyment of viewers.
A source told the newspaper last month: “The fact that ‘You’ve Been Framed’ has been shelved is a sad sign of the times.
“It’s a different world to Jeremy Beadle’s heyday. Why would viewers tune in to a show featuring funny videos when they could see the same sort of thing on the internet?
“Silly clips are hugely popular on social media and the right video can go viral. There’s a thrill in achieving that — even though you don’t earn the £250 fee which ‘You’ve Been Framed’ paid for contributions.”
The most recent episode aired in August 2022 with Harry at the helm, having voiced 341 of the show’s 701 episodes over the past 33 years.
Former ‘Emmerdale’ star Lisa Riley replaced Jeremy in 1998 before Jonathan Wilkes took over for just one series in 2003.
‘You’ve Been Framed!’ has been removed from the ITV website, while repeats shown on Sunday had scrapped the part of the programme which invited viewers to send in their videos in return for the £250 payment.
Although the show was relatively inexpensive and simple to make, it took a while to put together because the videos needed to be vetted by bosses, with acts of deliberate violence and injury banned alongside obviously set-up shots.
Meanwhile, Harry previously revealed: “I don’t get to see the long list but I know there are a lot of fakes — and a lot of sex videos.”

Nick Knowles got wedged in Grand Canyon after weight increase: ‘It was seriously terrifying’

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Knowles was left “terrified” when he got stuck in the Grand Canyon after putting on weight over lockdown.
The 60-year-old TV presenter ballooned to 18 stone at one point during the coronavirus pandemic after putting on nearly four stone, and he ended up getting “wedged” in the Arizona rock formation while filming for Channel 5 show ‘The Grand Canyon’.
Speaking on Radio X, he said: “You have to go through ‘horizontal chimneys’ which are for real cavers, who are like whippets – they’re tiny, skinny people.
“But my director was like, ‘Go through here, and there’s a cave on the other side which we can talk in.’
“But halfway along, I was like, ‘I can’t do this, this is just too much.’ I had palpitations, it was seriously terrifying.
“There was a point where I was wedged, I couldn’t get my shoulders through and I was wedged.”
The ‘DIY SOS’ presenter almost needed an SOS of his own, but he managed to calm himself down.
He added: “My heart started to go and I was, ‘Breath, breath, breath.’
“The caver said to me, ‘So how are you feeling about your life choices?’ ”
In November 2021, Nick told how he was going on a diet because he felt “massive”.
The presenter – who starred on ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ in 2018 – said at the time: “I’ve made a living by looking like a bag of spanners on TV. I’m 18 stone, I’m massive.
“I’m always on building sites. During lockdown I put on almost four stone. I’ve taken two stone off now and I’m getting fit again.”
Nick previously confessed that he started gaining weight amid lockdown, as he stopped working out and was instead baking and eating “all the pies”.
Asked whether he’s vain, he said: “I am a TV presenter. I put myself in front of millions of people, so you have to have a certain amount of vanity. Previous girlfriends would say I am.
“I like to dress up, but equally I don’t care if I look like a bag of spanners. I’ve made a career out of looking rough.”

‘That’s what we call diversity’: Michelle Yeoh on her casting as Madame Morrible in Wicked

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Yeoh says her casting as Madame Morrible in ‘Wicked’ is “what we call diversity”.
The 60-year-old Malaysian actress admits it was a “shock” to be chosen for the role in the two-part movie adaptation of the hit musical, because it would have been given to a “Caucasian lady” in the past.
In a cover interview for the March issue of PEOPLE magazine, she said: “In the past, this role would’ve been for a Caucasian lady.
“This is what we call diversity, inclusivity. This is how you make it work. It is a natural process—progress, evolution that we can have as storytellers.”
Michelle – who has reunited with ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ director Jon M. Chu on the films – admits she never expected to be landing major roles at this time in her life and she is “very proud” to be helping the movie industry stamp out “stereotypes”.
She said: “A lot of actresses find, as the numbers get bigger, the roles start to dwindle.
“Over the last few years, I’m very proud that we have been breaking away from stereotypes – it’s not just lip service. It is happening. And it’s happening to me.”
The ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ star added: “You go from shock to bewilderment.
“‘Wow, is it me? How can it be me?’ Because I’ve worked with so many amazing actresses who should have had this privilege, and so I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to sit at the table and to be seen.”
‘Wicked: Part One’ is set to be released in December 2024, with the second following in 2025.

Busy Philipps joins Mean Girls musical movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Busy Philipps has joined the cast of the ‘Mean Girls’ musical movie.
The 43-year-old actress will portray Mrs. George, the mother of Regina George, who will be played by Renée Rapp in the film.
Philipps shared a Deadline article revealing her casting, and wrote on Instagram: “You know something? I really never have been a regular mom… #meangirls (sic)”
Angourie Rice, Auli’i Cravalho, and Jaquel Spivey are also set to star in the movie, which will be directed by Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr.
Jeff Richmond and Tina Fey are adapting their musical for the big screen, and they want the ‘Mean Girls’ musical movie to have a “fresher palette”.
Composer Richmond said: “Right now, the day-to-day is more about the movie adaptation that we’re working on. We’re super involved with that. What we’re trying to do [with the movie] is take the score that sounds like a Broadway score – in a good way – and [give] the movie a fresher palette. To make it sound more like stuff you want to listen to on Spotify, as opposed to when you’re sitting eighth row at a Broadway show or the Pantages. It’s kind of making it a fresher, younger take on the whole thing. We’re kind of reinvented the music for the movie, so it’s really fun.”
Lorne Michaels is producing the movie for Paramount Pictures, with Fey penning the script and Richmond and lyricist Nell Benjamin working on the music.
Richmond admitted he and Fey love working together.
He said: “We know when to get out of each other’s way when we’re working together. Like who’s taking this part? Who’s doing that? Who needs to push harder on getting the script done for this? We’re just around each other all the time. Same office, all the time. She’s a hilariously fun person to be around.”
