Peter Dinklage heads The Thicket cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Dinklage is to star in the dark western ‘The Thicket’.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ actor will also produce the movie which has started production in Calgary, Canada.
Peter will be joined in the cast of the Tubi Films project by Juliette Lewis, Esme Creed-Miles, Levon Hawke, Leslie Grace, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Macon Blair, Ned Dennehy, Andrew Schulz, Arliss Howard and Metallica rocker James Hetfield.
‘The Thicket’, based on Joe R. Lansdale’s novel of the same name, follows a young man called Jack (Hawke), who goes on an epic quest to rescue his sister Lula (Creed-Miles) after she is kidnapped by the violent killer Cut Throat Bill (Lewis) and her gang.
To rescue her, Jack enlists the help of bounty hunter Reginald Jones (Dinklage), the alcoholic son of an ex-slave (Akinnagbe) and a street-smart prostitute (Grace). The trio track down Cut Throat Bill to an area known as The Big Thicket – where blood and chaos reigns.
The movie has been a longtime passion project for Dinklage and he has been attached to the adaptation for a decade.
The flick had been in pre-production back in 2020 but was ultimately delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Dinklage, 53, said: “I’m so very excited to bring Joe Lansdale’s riveting story to the screen. A journey into the heart of darkness to find love and return it to its rightful place.”
Adam Lewinson, Chief Content Officer at Tubi, said: “As Tubi deepens its commitment to a wide range of genres, we are incredibly excited to begin production on ‘The Thicket’, which has been a passion project for so many involved.
“This elevated western thriller led by Peter Dinklage and an exceptionally talented team of artists delivers on genre expectations while adding so much more to make the journey into ‘The Thicket’ unique and mesmerising.”

Seann Walsh missed his pooch more than his girlfriend on I’m A Celeb

OHMYGOSSIP — Seann Walsh has confessed he missed his beloved pet pooch more than his girlfriend on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’.
The former ‘Mock The Week’ star was more gutted to leave his dog Mildred to head into the Australian camp for the ITV reality show than his then-pregnant girlfriend Grace Adderley.
The 37-year-old stand-up comic said on his podcast ‘Oh My Dog!’: “I genuinely missed her. In the Bush Telegraph, I tried to talk to Mildred in the voice I use, hoping it would get in the edit. But obviously, the content just wasn’t up to scratch.”
Seann admitted leaving his hound to appear on the show alongside disgraced politician Matt Hancock, radio DJ Chris Moyles, broadcaster Charlene White and eventual winner and Lioness legend Jill Scott was the worst part.
He said: “It kills me. You can’t reassure them you’re coming back.”
Last month, the ‘Live At the Apollo’ star revealed that he and his partner had named their newborn daughter something “posh”, blessing her with the moniker Wylda Primrose.
Seann wrote on Instagram: “I’m really hoping she’s posher than us. Can you tell?
“Can’t wait until the day she makes me take these down.”
Seann also gave an update on Grace’s health, saying she was “better”.
He continued: “Aaaaaaand breathe.”
This came after Seann announced the birth of his daughter while he was in “the very relaxing postnatal department”.
He said: “Grace has had our baby and I’m sat here in the very relaxing postnatal department, and the staff have been great. The nurses have been coming up to me all morning and congratulating me.”
During his time on ‘I’m A Celeb’, Seann addressed his infamous kiss with his ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ partner Katya Jones in 2018 that made the front page while he was in a long-term relationship with actress Rebecca Humphries.
He said: “Me and my dance partner – who was married and I was in a relationship – were photographed kissing when we were on Strictly Come Dancing. Not during the show.
“To be totally honest to you, my poor girlfriend at the time posted a statement and that was the end of me.”

Nicholas Ralph wants original cast back for All Creatures Great and Small reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicholas Ralph wants to see original cast members in the reboot of ‘All Creatures Great and Small’.
The 32-year-old actor – who plays veterinarian James Herriot in the Channel 5 remake of the classic drama series – has admitted he is keen for Christopher Timothy, James in the original BBC series based on the books of the same name by Alfred Wight, and other surviving cast members to make a comeback.
He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “We’d love to have them on board.”
Recently, James gushed about how much he and the rest of the cast – including Callum Woodhouse (Tristan Farnon) and Anna Madeley (Mrs Hall) – loved getting to know the show’s many guest stars, including Vic Reeves (Jim Moir) and Adrian Rawlins (Charles Harcourt).
He said: “If we can, we’ll go out for a dinner or a beer with whoever’s in, and it’s always just a lot of fun hearing stories from the industry and things like that. We had another great guy, another fantastic English actor, Adrian Rawlins, who played Charles Harcourt. It was great hearing these people’s stories and having a laugh over a beer. That was a lot of fun.”
His co-star Callum – who was being interviewed alongside him – also said: “There’s an actor who came in, Jim Moir. His stage name is Vic Reeves, he’s a very famous English comedian. And he came in and did a couple of days as Mallock, the knacker’s yard owner, and was very, very funny to work with. He was cracking us all up on set. That was a good day.”
In the same interview, Nicholas said Samuel West (Siegfried Farnon) kept his co-stars entertained with his jokes.
He said: “Sam makes me laugh. Oh, he makes me laugh so much when he’s being funny intentionally, but also makes me laugh so much when I think he’s not intentionally being funny. He’s a hoot. He’s good craic.”
The show is returning for a fourth season.

Love Island’s Cynthia Otseh-Taiwo returns to day job two weeks after villa dumping

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ 2023 star Cynthia Otseh-Taiwo has returned to her day job – two weeks after being dumped from the villa.
The baker and dental receptionist has revealed she is back to baking goods for her own cakes business, Cynful Treats.
Promoting the business told her Instagram followers: “Mother’s Day boxes are live!! Send me a DM or email over at @cynfultreats_ to order from the Mother’s Day range.”
The 25-year-old beauty – who entered Casa Amor a few weeks ago but wasn’t picked during a recoupling – has been documenting her journey since leaving South Africa with her fans on the social media app.
And she heaped praise on the ITV2 show’s welfare team for the therapy they provided her with after she faced nasty comments from trolls.
She wrote recently: “Coming out from the villa you will have people who have their opinion about you even though they do not know you and with that comes some negative comments you can get lost in.
“I’ve had some negative comments which stuck with me for a few days but then I had a therapy session with the welfare team and they really made me realise you can’t please everyone… the perfectionist in me is starting to understand that.”
Cynthia had a brief fling with 26-year-old recruitment consultant Casey O’Gorman during her stint on the programme, however, he chose 28-year-old fashion boutique owner Claudia Fogarty in the recoupling, who he was first coupled-up with.
The baker insisted their split “is what it is” during a Q+A with fans on her Instagram Story this week, and she no longer has feelings for him.

Georgia Kousoulou and Tommy Mallett’s show returning for 4th series

OHMYGOSSIP — Georgia Kousoulou and Tommy Mallett’s show is returning for a fourth series.
The last series of ‘Georgia And Tommy: Baby Steps’ saw the couple nearly split up over Tommy’s undiagnosed ADHD, which he finally got help for, and now they are stronger than ever and their wedding is back on, with the ‘TOWIE’ stars hoping to tie the knot abroad in 2024 or 2025.
They are quoted by The Sun newspaper as saying: “In the last series we faced a lot of adversity as a family, and we can’t wait to show how much we have overcome. This will be a big year for our family.”
Filming has just got underway in Essex.
As well as planning their wedding, the pair are hoping to add to their brood this year.
Georgia, 31, admits she’d like to have her second child before she gets hitched.
Speaking to OK! last year, she said: “I would like another. I need to get a bit of a plan in action if I want to get married in 2024 or 2025. Ideally, I’d have the baby before that. I don’t want a massive gap [in age after Brody]. Please God, I’ll get pregnant within the next year. That would be great.”
And she’s hoping their son Brody, 22 months, will get a big sister, and even has their roles planned out for the couple’s big day.
She said: “I would love a girl. I keep saying, ‘My next baby is a girl.’ Everyone’s like, ‘You can’t say that.’ I’m like, ‘I can.’ You have to talk it into existence – ‘I know I’m going to have a girl, I know I’m having a girl.’ It’ll be really cute to have Brody as the little pageboy and her as a flower girl.”
And though she has set her heart on a Majorca wedding, Georgia won’t rule out a UK ceremony if a venue takes her fancy.
She said: “I don’t see myself getting married here [in the UK]. I think Majorca will be the place. We’ve got a house there and it’s stunning. I need to look at venues over here as well. I can’t 100 per cent rule out a UK wedding. I could see one and be like, ‘Wow!’ but I need that feeling. I’m going by my gut.”

Dave Bautista turned down Fast and Furious role for Gears of War

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Bautista turned down a role in the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise for ‘Gears of War’.
The wrestler-turned-actor plays Marcus Phoenix in the Netflix adaptation of the video game saga, and he has confessed that he declined an offer to appear in a ‘Fast and Furious’ film alongside Vin Diesel because he just wasn’t “interested” in the franchise.
He told Collider: “I don’t mean to offend anybody. I’m not putting down anything else, I’m just saying [‘Gears’] is way more interesting to me.
“I don’t want to pretend like I’m actually interested in something I’m not when there’s something I’m actually really excited about that you guys have under control. Would you consider me for that?”
The 54-year-old star added: “I don’t think there’s any harm in that. I’m not trying to step on anybody else’s toes, I’m just saying like this is what I love and I’m seriously passionate about this. I can do a good job for you guys on this.”
Another role he would love to take on is Batman’s arch-nemesis, Bane.
He told the outlet: “I think I could bring an interesting twist to it, and I think I could do the character justice.
“Not only in performance but also in physicality.”
On what his version of the DC character would be like, he added: “I’d love that role where I’d have to go back up to 320 pounds just to play this character, like that it would happen. I could… play Bane in a way that’s not only menacing and ominous but also freakishly intelligent.”
However, it’s not a role he will likely end up nabbing.
Fans thought the opportunity could well arise after his ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ director James Gunn took charge of DC Studios – alongside Peter Safran – but the star recently insisted Bane should be portrayed by a “younger and fresher” actor.
He said: “I have had conversations with James about that but I think the direction he’s leaning in, completely rebooting that whole universe, he’s starting from scratch and starting younger and fresher and I think you need to do that.”
Bautista insists he “understands” the need for a younger face to portray the character, and doesn’t believe he would “bring justice” to the role at this point in his career.
He added to Insider: “I think for the DC Universe to be revived, you need to start from scratch, and I think you need to start with younger actors.
“You need to start to plan for the next 15 years, and I just don’t think you can do that with me. And I understand that. And, also, I have to say that I appreciate that because I don’t want to play a character that I can’t bring justice to it.
“I don’t think at this point in my career that I can bring justice to Bane anymore. I just don’t know if I could handle the physical part, and I don’t think I would have the longevity to plan ahead for films. So, I just don’t know if I’d be that guy.”

Cynthia Erivo outlines Wicked movie differences

OHMYGOSSIP — Cynthia Erivo has promised that the ‘Wicked’ movies will differ from the stage show.
The 36-year-old actress will star as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, in the two-part film adaptation of the popular stage musical and explained how it will offer audiences the chance to make a deeper connection with the characters.
Cynthia – who will star alongside Ariana Grande’s Glinda the Good Witch in ‘Wicked: Part One’ – told Collider: “I don’t know that you can compare them. It’s like apples to oranges. The show is its own thing. The show is its own legend. I think this film is both an homage to the show and the book.
“We also get to create something really new and slightly different to what you’d be used to seeing. We’re lucky, in that we have the space to really fill the world and to really fill these characters.”
The ‘Luther: The Fallen Sun’ actress added: “You’ll be able to get into the psyche of these women. You’ll get to know them more. You will live with them a lot more, and you’ll live with them a lot longer. I think it’s really special that we get to reintroduce these two women to you, in a slightly different way.”
Cynthia pointed out that the movie offers an insight into the relationship between Elphaba and Glinda.
She said: “You get to see their hearts a little bit more. And you realise that these two women are actually really alike. Yes, they’re very different. But actually, at their very core, they’re two very similar beings who have almost the same wants, but have very different ways of getting to them.”
Erivo also indicated that Jon M. Chu’s adaptation will feature new musical numbers alongside classics such as ‘Defying Gravity’.
She said: “I cannot tell you that. I cannot possibly tell you that. But I think you’ll be pleasantly pleased.”

Keanu Reeves is desperate to play Wolverine

OHMYGOSSIP — Keanu Reeves has always wanted to play Wolverine.
The 58-year-old actor has never regretted turning down a part in his career but revealed that he would love to portray the X-Men superhero on the big screen.
Taking part in a Reddit ‘Ask Me Anything’ session, Keanu was asked if he rued rejecting any movies and he replied: “No, but I did always want to play Wolverine.”
Reeves has experience in comic book films after starring in the 2005 DC flick ‘Constantine’, a role he is set to reprise in an upcoming sequel.
‘The Matrix’ star confirmed that he had spoken with the new DC Films co-chair James Gunn about the film but did not offer any information other than saying he hopes that it gets made.
Meanwhile, Keanu found it impossible to choose when asked about the favourite film of his career.
He responded: “Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!! F***, aaaaaahhhhhhhhh… I’ve been very fortunate to work on a few films that have changed my life. I can’t pick just one.
“But here are a few – ‘River’s Edge’, ‘Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure’, ‘Matrix’ trilogy, ‘The Devil’s Advocate’, ‘A Scanner Darkly’, ‘My Own Private Idaho’, ‘Point Break’, ‘John Wick’.”
The ‘John Wick’ star also revealed that he has ambitions to star in a musical but is unsure if he has the singing skills to do so.
Reeves said: “I would love to be in a musical… but I can’t sing so I’m not sure anybody else would want me in a musical… but I sure would try. I mean I could sing, but not really well. I can always dream…”

Scream 6 directors are hoping for more movies in the franchise

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Scream 6’ directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are hoping for more films in the franchise.
The duo are at the helm of the latest instalment in the big screen slasher series – which sees Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera as half-sisters Tara and Sam Carpenter alongside franchise legends Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers) and Hayden Panettiere (Kirby Reed).
On the subject of a another film, Bettinelli-Olpin told Deadline: “We hope. We want to be watching ‘Scream’ movies whether we’re involved or not for the rest of our lives.”
Gillett added: “We’re so happy it’s back!”
The newest movie turns the franchise on its head as the horror moves away from Woodsboro to New York City.
Creator Kevin Williamson told the outlet he was initially “hesitant” about the direction writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick were taking things.
He explained: “I was a little hesitant because I was like, ‘How do you make it scary in New York City?’ Well, they figured it out, they knew exactly how to do it.
“I didn’t realise how scary New York City can be and then you go back and say, ‘Well, I used to live here.’
“And there’s so many times you walk down the street and there’s nobody there. And you get on the subway and there’s one or two people, and you’re unnerved.
“It’s scary to think how scary New York City can be because I used to live here … but I think they milked it and they managed to figure out how to make it really scary.”
A seventh movie is yet to be announced, but the franchise continues to be a success and critics have heaped praise on the reinvention seen in ‘Scream 6’.

Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock sheds 6 stone after gastric sleeve surgery

OHMYGOSSIP — Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock has shed more than six stone after undergoing gastric sleeve surgery.
The 54-year-old former footballer has lost 93lbs after going under the knife, and admits he would’ve “never been able to” achieve that figure through diet and exercise alone.
He wrote on Instagram: “After many years of struggling with my weight, I decided it was finally time to take positive action.
Late last year I had gastric sleeve surgery with Transform Hospital Group @wearetransform and I’m now well into my weight loss journey.
To date I have lost 93lbs – something I would never have been able to do through diet and exercise alone.
My friends and family, especially my wife Leah, have been supporting me every step along the way.”
Razor admits he is still “some way off” the weight he wants to be, but he is feeling a lot better about himself.
He added: “I’m still some way off my final goal weight, but I’m already feeling great about my body and have more confidence in myself.
“This really is a fresh start for me, and I’m excited about this new chapter in my life.”
In June 2020, the ex-Liverpool defender told how he was “technically dead for several seconds” during an emergency heart operation.
He had to stop filming TV show ‘Harry’s Heroes: Euro Having a Laugh’ halfway through to go under the knife, after doctors discovered his resting heart rate was at least 130 beats per minute, when it should’ve been around 60 to 70.
He said: “‘Harry’s Heroes’ sent me to a heart surgeon to check everything was alright because I was getting dizzy just running upstairs. I thought, ‘Oh, no, it could be brain trauma after heading too many footballs.’
“But they found it was from my heart beating too fast, so that was a big wake-up call.
“Just going up the stairs it must have been going at 140 or 150 beats a minute – that’s a workout rate. It’s gone back to 60, 70 or 80 beats now when resting.
“They also found out my heart had been stopping for up to seven seconds every night.”
The former West Ham star admitted the pacemaker op was the “worst pain of [his] life”.
Razor’s op came after years of heavy drinking, and the star admitted he sometimes downed up for four bottles of wine a day, followed by beers and cocktails.
He added: “At my worst I was crazy – I was doing three or four bottles of wine a day, easy-peasy, plus spirits, beers, cocktails.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jill Scott will be the first female captain at Soccer Aid 2023.
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’ winner – who led the Lionesses to victory at last summer’s Euros tournament – admitted she was “nervous” to lead the England team at the annual charity game on June 11 at Old Trafford against the World XI FC, and she’s hoping snag the side’s first win since 2018.
The 36-year-old footballer said: “The Euros, The Jungle and now Soccer Aid for UNICEF – it’s the holy trinity! I’ve won two of them, so just need Soccer Aid now to complete ‘The Treble’!
“I think of all three, this might be the one I’m most nervous about, though – just look at the names involved! Buy a ticket, support this amazing cause and cheer us on!”
Jill is making her debut at the annual charity event – which has raised more than £75 million for UNICEF since its 2006 inception – with three other former England international players; her former England teammate Karen Carney, ex Chelsea player Gary Cahill, 37, and the ex Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, 31, who retired last year and now coaches the club’s under-18 side.
Jack said: “I am really looking forward to lacing up my boots again – and playing with some of my old friends. I can’t tell you how good these legends are and I’m told a few of the celebrities are quite handy too!
“As a father to young children, taking part in this game has extra significance for me – and I would urge people to buy tickets and show their support too.”

Sir Tony Robinson reveals how Blackadder sketch came together

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Curtis sent Sir Tony Robinson the script for the new ‘Blackadder’ sketch as an apology.
The 76-year-old actor will reprise his role as hapless Baldrick for Comic Relief, and he found out after the sitcom’s creator had to suddenly rush home for dinner with his wife while they were catching up at a showbiz party.
Speaking to the Radio Times magazine, Tony recalled: “The next morning I had a fulsomely apologetic email from Richard saying: ‘Sorry I couldn’t stay. There was a chicken in the oven.
“‘I’ve just written a story for Baldrick – how would you feel about performing this on Comic Relief?’
“I read it and texted him back, ‘Try and stop me.’ ”
Tony is excited for fans to see the new sketch, although he has played down the idea of a full blown revival.
He explained: “Everyone’s always said if we made another series, however good it was, people wouldn’t be in the same headspace they were when they saw the original. We couldn’t re-create it.”
Although Richard previously suggested the sketch will take place without his co-creator Rowan Atkinson – who played the titular character Edmund Blackadder – Tony recently insisted Rowan “always contributes to Comic Relief”.
He said: “This just happens to be a script for Baldrick but Rowan always contributes to Comic Relief. I am sure he will be there in some form or another.”
Last month, Richard confirmed the show would be back for the Comic Relief sketch.
He said: “For the first time in 20 years, Baldrick is going to be giving some kind of performance.
“We’re just conspiring about it now, so I think there’s going to be a marvellous, turnip-based thing with Tony Robinson now back in action, so I’m excited about that.”
Asked if Rowan is going to be in the Comic Relief special, Richard laughed: “No. Rowan’s far too serious to do any of that.”
‘Blackadder’ originally ran for four series and two specials from 1983 to 1989, and another special ‘Blackadder: Back and Forth’ aired in 1999.

Alesha Dixon’s daughter has plan to deal with Bruno Tonioli

OHMYGOSSIP — Alesha Dixon’s daughter has a plan to prank Bruno Tonioli as payback for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ bruises.
The 44-year-old star has opened up on her experiences working with the ITV talent show’s new judge – who has recently replaced David Walliams on the panel – while filming for the upcoming new series.
Speaking on ‘Capital Breakfast’, she said “He likes to grab my arm, he’s very expressive and passionate. I’ve had a few Bruno bruises on the arms. I bruise like a peace.
“My nine-year-old daughter said I should put a fake arm on to prank him, so next time he grabs my arm, he thinks he’s pulled my arm off!
“Producers didn’t get the memo!”
Alesha compared Bruno – who joins her on the panel with Amanda Holden and boss Cowell – to being “next to an excitable puppy”, although she acknowledged how hard it can be coming in as a “newbie”.
She added: “It’s exhausting… he does not know how to sit still. It’s like sitting next to an excitable puppy. I’m not even exaggerating.
“The first day I was like, ‘What is happening here?’ But, bless him, it’s hard coming into a very established, well-oiled unit.
“I was mindful to make him very welcome and he had big sheos to fill and it’s never easy being a newbie.”
However, Alesha was less forgiving when Bruno broke the rules while filming the talent show.
She explained: “He pressed the golden buzzer about 20 seconds into the act and we’re supposed to wait unitl the end. I was furious, because I wanted to press my gold buzzer for the act.”
Alesha recently admitted she doesn’t ever worry that the UK is “running out of talent” because in each season “people get more inspired” to try out for the ITV1 show.
She said: “Every single year without fail you are seeing something you’ve never seen before and after doing it for 10 years people ask surely you’re running out of talent? absolutely not, if anything it is the opposite, people get more inspired.
“I think after the few years we’ve had, people are desperate to have the opportunity to be on stage and do what they love and this year the talent is phenomenal.”

Harry Hill wants to You’ve Been Framed revival for TikTok generation

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Hill wants to bring ‘You’ve Been Framed’ back for the TikTok generation.
The ex ‘Harry Hill’s TV Burp’ star reflected on the end of the long running clip show – which saw members of the public send in videos of their own surprising mishaps for the enjoyment of viewers – following reports it won’t be returning for another series.
The 58-year-old comic is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: “When it was cancelled, no one noticed because all of the shows are so similar.”
He added: “I’ll bring it back for TikTok.”
The show was originally fronted by Jeremy Beadle when it launched in 1990, while Harry Hill has served as narrator since 2004.
Last week, a source said: “”The fact that ‘You’ve Been Framed’ has been shelved is a sad sign of the times.
“It’s a different world to Jeremy Beadle’s heyday. Why would viewers tune in to a show featuring funny videos when they could see the same sort of thing on the internet?
“Silly clips are hugely popular on social media and the right video can go viral. There’s a thrill in achieving that — even though you don’t earn the £250 fee which ‘You’ve Been Framed’ paid for contributions.”
The most recent episode aired in August 2022 with Harry at the helm, having voiced 341 of the show’s 701 episodes over the past 33 years.
Former ‘Emmerdale’ star Lisa Riley replaced Jeremy in 1998 before Jonathan Wilkes took over for just one series in 2003.
‘You’ve Been Framed’ has been removed from the ITV website, while repeats shown on Sunday had scrapped the part of the programme which invited viewers to send in their videos in return for the £250 payment.
Although the show was relatively inexpensive and simple to make, it took a while to put together because the videos needed to be vetted by bosses, with acts of deliberate violence and injury banned alongside obviously set-up shots.
