Rachel Johnson broke a rib during Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Johnson broke a rib during her stint on ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’.
The journalist – sister of former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson – was among the famous faces competing in the latest series of the gruelling reality show in New Zealand and she was offered the chance to bow out early after sustaining the injury but she decided “power on through”.
Speaking to journalists, Rachel explained: “I broke a rib. It was a lose-lose situation cos you’re in terrible pain and you go to the doctor and you say, ‘I can’t walk or I definitely can’t run. And I definitely can’t carry my pack.’
“And the doctor says, ‘Well, you know, there’s nothing I can do about a broken rib. I’m not an X-ray machine. Do you want to leave?’ So you just have to power on through.”
Rachel kept going despite the injury while one of her castmates – John Barrowman – bowed out on day one after throwing up his lunch on the way to the first task.
John admitted he wasn’t happy with the vegetarian sandwich and it soon came back up again.
He told The Sun newspaper: “I’m not a vegan or a vegetarian, but they made everybody eat vile tofu. “I would never eat tofu in my life, but you’re so hungry, you just eat it … Then it was projectile vomit everywhere and the tofu came up. I thought, ‘I’m not going to make myself ill or hurt myself in order to try to prove something that I don’t need to prove’. ”
He added of his decision to leave the show: It was seriously me going: ‘I am completely comfortable with who I am. I’m completely a happy person. We’ve all got our issues and problems, but I’ve made a mistake’.”

Producer Tommy Harper is open to Beetlejuice 3

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ producer Tommy Harper has teased “the door is open” for another sequel with director Tim Burton.
The 66-year-old filmmaker returned to the franchise 36 years after the 1988 original with the new comedy-fantasy flick and the film’s producer has revealed it’s possible there could be more entries in the series with the ‘Corpse Bride’ director at the helm.
Speaking to Deadline, Harper said: “I think with Tim’s love for the title and the characters, the door is open, but we’ll see what happens next.”
However, Burton had previously dismissed ideas of another sequel after ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’.
Speaking on a panel at the Venice Film Festival recently, he said: “Let’s do the math. It took 35 years to do this one.
“For another, I’d be over 100 [years old]. It could be possible thanks to medical science. But I don’t think so.”
The film sees Michael Keaton, 72, reprise his role as the titular ghost, though the actor had only agreed to return if Beetlejuice wasn’t the main driving force of the story.
He told GQ: “The idea was, no, no, no, you can’t load it up with Beetlejuice, that’ll kill it.
“I think the Beetlejuice character doesn’t drive the story as much as he did in the first one. He’s more part of the storyline in this one as opposed to the first one, which is a case of this thing comes in and drives the movie a little bit.”
The ‘Batman’ actor – who stars opposite Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Monica Bellucci, Jenna Ortega and Willem Dafoe – added the character would remain a “sicko” in the new movie to ensure Beetlejuice felt exactly the same as his appearance in the 1988 original.
He said: “He’s a thing. He’s more of a thing than a he or a she, he’s more of an it.
“And I’m not saying ‘it’ to be politically correct. I just viewed it as a force more than anything. I mean, there’s definitely strong male energy, like stupid male energy, which I love.
“You don’t want to touch that because it’s not like you go, ‘Well, it’s a new year and this thing would now act like that.’”

The Batman director Matt Reeves teases more spin-offs are to come after The Penguin

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Batman’ director Matt Reeves has revealed more movie and TV spin-offs are in the works.
The 58-year-old filmmaker is currently working on the DC superhero sequel after releasing its HBO spin-off ‘The Penguin’, and has now teased there are “evolved” plans for future films and shows set in ‘The Batman’ universe.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he said: “The things that we’re talking about [now] are evolved versions of those things.
“It’s not like that just didn’t work. It was like, we need to evolve this. I would describe it less as something that didn’t work and more as something that is still along a path toward arriving at its destination.”
The director added ‘The Penguin’ – which sees Colin Farrell, 48, reprise his role as the titular Gotham City mob boss Oswald Cobblepot – would connect directly to the opening of ‘The Batman: Part II’.
He shared: “There are details that actually connect right into the way the next movie begins, and the way that Oz enters the world as we hand the baton back to Batman, and Batman is on another case.”
The ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ filmmaker also revealed he was still planning to make a mainline trilogy in the DC universe, which would follow Robert Pattinson’s Caped Crusader as he becomes a fully-fledged hero.
He explained: “I always wanted to make sure that each of the movies that we did with Rob, that the central arc, the emotional arc of the story would be Batman and Bruce’s.”
Earlier this month, the director revealed he was “finishing the script” for ’The Batman: Part II’, which will see the likes of Farrell, Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz and Andy Serkis reprise their respective roles.
He told SFX magazine: “Colin will be part of the movie. We’ve shared [the script] as we’ve been going along with DC and the studio and they’re super excited.”

‘That’s Life!’ star Chris Serle dead aged 81

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘That’s Life!’ star Chris Serle has died aged 81.
The passing of the former BBC radio and TV presenter, who rose to fame on the show alongside TV presenters including Dame Esther Rantzen, 84, was confirmed by his family on Monday (23.09.24) – sparking a flood of tributes from BBC figures and television hosts.
Bristol-born Chris was described by his loved ones in a tribute as a “familiar and cherished figure on British television screens throughout the 1970s and 1980s”.
Dame Esther said she was “very sad” to hear that he had died, adding in a statement: “He was as nice off camera as he was in the studio on camera – funny, clever, charming, a very versatile presenter.
“When I first met him he was a producer, but it was clear that he had all the attributes of the best reporters.
“Viewers and listeners of ‘That’s Life!’ and the many other radio and television programmes he presented will be equally sad.”
Actress Judy Matheson, 79, said online: “This is so sad. He was in my first theatre company, travelling all over US; when I first went to rehearse in Bristol he and his family put me up. He was such a terrific guy.”
She added in another caption on X alongside a photo of her smiling up at Chris: “Further to my last post, a memory with the brilliant Chris Serle, with me in my first job with the Bristol Old Vic, on our US tour in the ‘Garden of the Gods’ in Denver in 1967.
“He never seemed to age. We were both novices in professional theatre, but Chris became a polymath. R.I.P.”
The BBC News first reported Chris’ death, hailing him for his work on popular programmes throughout the 1970s and 1980s including ‘In at the Deep End’ and as the long-time host of ‘Points of View’.
He also chaired Radio 4’s ‘Pick of the Week’ between 1981 and 1988 and was the host of a long-running afternoon show on BBC Radio Bristol.
Chris is survived by his wife Ali and their three children, as well as two kids from a previous marriage.
The BBC reported: “His family said funeral and memorial service details are being arranged and will be shared in due course.”

Corrie legend Sue Cleaver opens up on her ‘promiscuous’ teenage years as she reveals secret abortion

OHMYGOSSIP — Sue Cleaver had an abortion in her teenage years.
The 60-year-old actress has opened up about her life and career in the new memoir ‘Work in Progress’ and spent her younger days in search of “validation and acceptance” but ended up pregnant after falling for an older man, choosing only to inform her mother.
She said: “There were boyfriends, one-night stands. I convinced myself that ‘Oh, if I do this, they will love me’. I was always searching for a way to belong. “It was tragic really and it breaks my heart to think about it now. There’s so much shame wrapped up in my teenage years. I was just searching and searching for someone to make me feel okay.
“Because I didn’t know how to be okay myself. So, I became really promiscuous.
“I was in absolute turmoil. I eventually told my mum – I said: ‘This has happened, I’m going to the hospital on this date, can I have a lift and can we not tell Dad’. I don’t think we ever spoke about it again, but that was my choice.
“I don’t think we knew how to. My dad never knew. I look back and think I was so resilient. I just got on and I dealt with stuff.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Loose Women’ panellist – who is now married to lighting technician Brian Owen but has son Elliot, 26, with ex-husband James Quinn – is known for her long-running role as matriarch Eileen Grimshaw in the ITV soap opera ‘Coronation Street’, and up until getting the role in 2000 had played small parts in Kay Mellor’s ‘Band of Gold’ and ‘dinnerladies’ opposite Victoria Wood.
But she admitted that joining the soap left her “absolutely terrified” of being recognised in public and wouldn’t know what to say to any fans if they approached her.
She said: “For quite a few years, if somebody came up to me in the street, the inside of my stomach muscles would tense up and I’d be thinking: ‘Oh God, don’t come over. Don’t come over. Don’t come over.’
“It absolutely terrified me when people did. I’d be thinking: ‘I’ve got nothing to offer you. I don’t know what to say. I don’t know what to do.’ It was fear, pure and simple. I don’t think I handled it well at all. My confident exterior was paper-thin.”

Courteney Cox gives update on her status for Scream 7

OHMYGOSSIP — Courteney Cox is yet to sign up for ‘Scream 7’.
The ‘Friends’ star – who has reportedly been in talks to reprise her role as Gale Weathers in the upcoming seventh instalment in the iconic horror franchise – has insisted she hasn’t actually agreed to be part of the movie.
She told Variety: “I’m not officially signed on. I’m not, but there will be a ‘Scream 7.’ ”
It was revealed earlier this year that Neve Campbell will return to the film series, having skipped the sixth movie over a salary dispute.
Kevin Williamson – who wrote the script for the first ‘Scream’ in 1996 – will direct a film in the franchise for the first time after replacing Christopher Landon.
Cox said: “You can’t get better than that choice. It’s going to be fun.”
Filming is set to get underway in December in Atlanta, but the 60-year-old actress hasn’t got a specific timeframe for making a decision about whether or not she’ll be involved.
She added: “They’re rewriting all the time. It’s not like I don’t know what’s going on.”
Whatever happens, Cox is hoping to see her ex-husband David Arquette return as Dewey Riley, despite his character being killed off in the 2022 ‘Scream’ revival.
She said: “I understand the reasons they did it, but whoa! Talk about a missed character. Dewey is so loved by ‘Scream’ fans. They have to figure it out.”
While Campbell is returning, Melissa Barrera – who played Sam Carpenter in 2022’s ‘Scream’ and ‘Scream VI’ – was axed from the series following pro-Palestinian comments on social media about the Israel-Hamas War.
After her comments, production company Spyglass Media denounced Barrera and emphasised that the studio had “zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form”.
The statement read: “Spyglass’ stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech.”
While Barrera was removed from the horror flick, Jenna Ortega – who played her sister Tara Carpenter – also left the project due to scheduling conflicts with the second season of ‘Wednesday’.

Prince Andrew actor Michael Sheen admits he isn’t normally ‘interested’ in playing familiar people

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Sheen “isn’t very interested” in playing someone familiar.
The 55-year-old actor has been noted for his versatility and impressions of celebrities over the years but as he takes on the role of Prince Andrew in ‘A Very Royal Scandal’ has admitted that what he prefers to do is take on the role of someone in real life that allows him to deliver something new about them to the audience.
He told Collider: “Weirdly, the very same things that make it daunting are also the things that make it attractive. It is that familiarity. It is that sense of, “Oh, I think I know this story. I think I know this person.
“And then, it is all about whether the script delivers on going, ‘Well, here’s something you didn’t know’.
“As an actor, I’m not really interested in playing someone who is very familiar, and then you just see what’s familiar about them. There’s no interest in that. “What you’re interested in is somehow giving the audience the feeling that the veil is being lifted and you’re being invited into the secret world of this person and that world. It’s the very familiarity that an audience has with the character you’re playing that is daunting. It makes you nervous because you think, ‘Are people gonna accept me as this person? Am I gonna be able to make people believe I am this person?’
“At the same time, it’s that same familiarity that makes you go, ‘I know we’ve got the ammunition here to subvert those expectations and that familiarity.’ “Funnily enough, it’s exactly the same qualities that make you feel both those sides of things.
The ‘Good Omens’ star also noted that in accepting the role of the royal he had to think “seriously” because he is aware of what a “responsibility” the part is.
He said: “The saying yes, taking on the role, and being part of the project is a much different thing than when I’m agreeing to do something that’s fictional. In the act of saying yes to it, you’re taking the responsibility of portraying real people and real events seriously enough. Is it appropriate, the way that you’re doing this? When I say yes, initially I have to trust that the script that I’ve read is doing that, and that the team who are going to be around me doing this will take responsibility for that and I can trust them.
“Once I say yes, I’m giving up the big picture. Then, I’m focusing on my character. There are all those things I have to let go of because it’s about just immersing myself in that character and trying to play someone as rounded as possible.
“If it’s someone who is revered, then I have to be prepared to show warts and all. If it’s someone who is already seen as a bit of a bad guy, I have to be prepared to show things where they show vulnerability. I’m taking on board my general responsibilities as an actor, rather than my responsibilities to that specific project. Given that I’m giving that up, in a way, I have to really take that seriously before I say yes.

Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris did some ‘soul searching’ during new BBC show

OHMYGOSSIP — Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris did a lot of “soul searching” on their new travel show.
The former ‘Top Gear’ hosts – who presented the show with Freddie Flintoff before his horror crash and the BBC’s subsequent decision to shelve the long running programme – are returning this weekend with ‘Road Tripping’ as they drive across Sweden, Greece and Switzerland.
Paddy said: “There are some moments where we both really do some soul searching and think about how we can make the most of the years ahead of us.”
His friend and co-star Chris added: “Paddy and I have been good friends for many years and we have spent a lot of time together, so I thought I knew him pretty well.
“But this soul-searching mission has definitely changed us; we’ve learnt a lot about each other and ourselves. It’s been great to experience that with Paddy.”
While the former ‘Take Me Out’ host admitted the series was “eye-opening”, he joked that he also came to an unfortunate realisation about his pal.
Paddy quipped: “I have also learnt, however, that Chris has terrible taste in music and should never be given control of the car radio again!
As well as learning more about each other, the pair also discovered things about themselves while filming the three part series.
Chris said: “By the end of the series I come to some quite big conclusions based on the experiences we’ve had, which the audience will get to see.
“I’ve learnt that there are certainly things I can change about lifestyle to improve my health.”
The series will consist of three one-hour episodes, and is set to air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
BBC Studios Creative Director Factual Entertainment Kat Lennox previously teased viewers what was in store, promising “more of an insight” into Paddy and Chris’ friendship.
She said: “Paddy and Chris’ on screen chemistry has always been a favourite amongst audiences and we’re so excited to be bringing more of an insight into their friendship through this adventure of a lifetime. With plenty of bants along the way, of course, it’s certainly going to be entertaining!”

Jane McDonald reflects on the death of her partner Eddie Rothe: ‘You never get over it…’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jane McDonald will “never get over” the death of her fiance Eddie Rothe.
The 61-year-old singer – who was initially married to Henrik Brixen from 1998 until 2003 – struck up a relationship with The Searchers drummer Eddie in 2008 but he passed away in 2021 at the age of 67 following a battle with lung cancer and she often finds herself at a loss now.
She told Best magazine: “You never get over it – I’m not going to lie and say ‘Oh yes I’m fine,’ because I’m not. You go through stages – you’re angry. All your plans are gone. You thought you were going to grow old together but… And remember I had Ed and my mother gone within two years – and you think –‘what do I do now?’”
But the ‘Loose Women’ legend – who previously announced that she had got her best friend and backing singer Sue Ravey to move in with her – is not looking for love right now because she is enjoying the “freedom” she now has.
She said: “Why on earth would I want to do that? Let’s say it’s not top of my list! I have a freedom which I’ve never known before now. I think a lot of women who are widowed find this. You think, I’m going shopping, I’m going to stay in bed and read until four. I’m enjoying being on my own. I’m not saying I’m never going to date again – you don’t know what’s round the corner – that’s the exciting part of life isn’t it?”
Jane – who first found fame as a singer on the BBC docusoap ‘The Cruise’ and has remained a regular face on British television since – is grateful that she could “throw herself” back into work with her ‘With All My Love’ tour and new book ‘Let The Light In’.
She said: “I was blessed in a way that I had my career – I could say I’m going to throw myself into this, I’m off to Japan! I was lucky. But what I want to put across is there’s no rule book.”

Shirley Ballas reveals that non-surgical facelift has ‘shaved 30 years off me’

OHMYGOSSIP — Shirley Ballas has got her confidence back after undergoing a non-surgical facelift.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ head judge, who celebrated her 64th birthday earlier this month, has been seeing one of the top cosmetic doctors in the UK for the latest in a series of non-invasive procedures that have rejuvenated both her face and neck.
Shirley said: “I have to say that I think these treatments have shaved 30 years off me. It has made me feel so confident and comfortable in my own skin.
“There’s a famous Beatles song that goes, ‘will you still need me, will you still feed me when I’m 64’, well I turned 64 last week, and I feel like I’ve got a new lease of life.”
The non-surgical procedures have given Shirley a confidence boost as she previously confessed to feeling insecure about her appearance and had considered having cosmetic surgery.
Shirley said: “When I went into my 60s I was very much considering having a face lift. Back then when I looked in the mirror, I saw dull lifeless sagging skin, I had a lot of pigmentation with sun-spots and I had a little spider veins on my nose.”
The former world champion dancer continued: “The whole thing about my face made me feel anxious especially because I’m in the public eye more and more these days.
“Just like anybody, I just want to look the best that I can at my age, but the problem is that when you reach mid 60s and older, it gets so much harder to keep your skin looking in great shape, and I was keen to find a non-surgical way to revitalise my skin.”
Ballas has been having appointments over the past year with leading aesthetic practitioner Dr. Johanna Ward at her clinic near Harley Street for monthly skin-boosting NeoGen nitrogen plasma sessions.
The non-invasive procedure uses super-heated nitrogen gas to rejuvenate the skin from within and achieves a completely natural look.
Dr. Ward said: “The NeoGen treatment effectively tricks your skin into boosting levels of collagen and elastin, two of the main structural proteins in your connective tissues that stop our skin from sagging and gives us that plump, youthful look.
“Collagen level start to decline in late 20s and early 30s, and then drop significantly after 40 and especially during menopause. But levels of collagen can be boosted with NeoGen treatments which create relatively pain-free trauma within the dermis which triggers your body to repair itself with high concentrations of collagen and elastin.
“We have provided six monthly low-energy NeoGen treatments for Shirley this year to continue to boost her collagen levels, and will now do quarterly top up sessions.”
Shirley revealed that she is delighted at the positive changes to her face as a result of the sessions.
She said: “Even I’m quite shocked, and I’m hard to please.
“I would say the biggest improvement for me is the tightening on the jawline and the reduction of the loose skin on the neck and jowls, but also the general skin quality is improved and the NeoGen treatments have got rid of all the sunspots, red marks and spider veins that I had on my cheeks and nose.
“But generally the skin looks fresh and dewy, before I had the treatments it was looking grey and tired but now my whole face glows. It’s just remarkable to see the difference in such a short space of time.”
Shirley also uses Tenplus electrolyte sachets and G Herbal SKIN supplements Centella Asiatica and turmeric before and after her NeoGen treatments in order to boost results from the procedures.
Dr. Johanna Ward runs clinics in London and Kent. Go to neogenplasma.co.uk/neogen-clinics/ for full details of your closest NeoGen clinic.

Bob Mortimer reveals Gone Fishing co-star Paul Whitehouse helped him through his health crisis

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Whitehouse “looked after” Bob Mortimer during his health crisis.
The 65-year-old comedian – who presents ‘Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing’ with his TV pal, 66 – had been left unable to walk due to a six-month battle with shingles in his muscles, and has now praised his co-star for all of the support he gave him during the making of the upcoming seventh series of the BBC programme.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I wasn’t very well and it made it a bit of a struggle but, as always, Paul looked after me and pulled me through.
“For half of the season, I couldn’t walk so it was very challenging at times. When we were in Trent, I was being taken from a wheelchair to the top of the bank. You never see that but you never see me on my feet either.”
Despite his struggles, Bob insisted he was getting better, and was “reasonably sprightly” by the end of the series.
He said: “I just tried to get some muscle back, or get some to grow a bit stronger. I’m 80 per cent back and, by the end of the series, I was reasonably sprightly.”
Looking at the series itself – which returns on Sunday (29.09.24) at 9pm on BBC2 – the ‘Taskmaster’ star teased that “the first two episodes are the greatest of ‘Gone Fishing’ that have ever been made”.
He said: “I think they’re magnificent.
“Paul and I are just getting better and better at it, which sounds boastful. I think we know what the show is now and what people like. I love this series.”
Just like in previous series, the ‘Would I Lie To You?’ star oversees the food and accommodation for the duo’s travels, and revealed his favourite meal from their recent expedition was some hotdogs in a flask that the pair had in Norfolk.
He said: “It’s a lovely and nostalgic thing – two old men having hotdogs by the lake. They were absolutely delicious. It was a genius idea.”

Only Fools and Horses legend Nicholas Lyndhurst reveals if his move to the US is permanent

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicholas Lyndhurst isn’t moving to Hollywood for good.
The 63-year-old actor is best known for his role as Rodney Trotter in the classic British sitcom ‘Only Fools and Horses’ and has now swapped the UK for the US to appear as Alan Cornwall in ‘Frasier’ opposite Kelsey Grammar but has insisted that he will only be there for the single project.
He told Radio Times.com: “I’m just here for the duration of the show. I’ll go home to the UK afterwards, but it’s absolutely wonderful to be here for now. I’m in my mid-60s – at this stage of my career, I wasn’t expecting to be walking through the gates of Paramount Pictures every morning. I probably pinch myself every 20 minutes in this job, because working with Kelsey and working in this building is heartstoppingly wonderful.”
The ‘Goodnight Sweetheart’ star also noted how different it is working on a US sitcom as opposed to one that goes into production in Britain, as he noted that “daily changes” can take place right up until the moment the studio audience arrives to take their seats.
He said: “The writing team is big here, and the rewrites happen every day. In the UK, if we were shooting in front of an audience on a Sunday, we’d lock in the script on a Friday, at the latest. At that point, you’d have at least a day to figure out what you’re doing!”
His comments come after his ‘Frasier’ co-star Kelsey, 69, heaped praise on the sitcom legend over their time working together.
He told Deadline: “Nick Lyndhurst. He’s stealth warfare. He is just the sneakiest most talented actor I’ve ever worked with.
“We worked together in London on the musical, Man of La Mancha [in 2019].
“We made plans to get [our partners] together and we became best friends. So when the idea of Frasier having a best friend came into the mix, it was always Nicholas.
“I asked him when we were back in England if he’d like to be in the new Frasier. He said, ‘Are you kidding? I would do anything to work with you again every day for the rest of my life.’ The feeling is mutual.”

Margot Robbie signs up to star in Emerald Fennell’s ‘Wuthering Heights’ adaptation

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie has signed up to star in Oscar-winning writer Emerald Fennell’s ‘Wuthering Heights’ adaptation.
The ‘Barbie’ actress, 34, will appear in the upcoming film alongside ‘Saltburn’ star Jacob Elordi, 27, with the pair set to play Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff in the latest film version of Emily Brontë’s classic novel, Variety has reported.
Jacob’s signing means the movie will be packed with stars who featured in 38-year-old Emerald’s ‘Saltburn’ film – and its star Barry Keoghan, 31, is also said to be interested in a part.
The movie will be written, directed and produced by Emerald, who is reuniting with production company LuckyChap on the project – the firm behind her 2020 film ‘Promising Young Woman’, which won the writer an Oscar for best original screenplay.
Emerald also had a role in LuckyChap’s $1.4 billion-grossing and Academy Award-winning ‘Barbie’ movie, which Margot produced.
Variety reported ‘Wuthering Heights’ is now in pre-production and is gearing up for a 2025 shoot in Britain.
Emerald told fans in July an adaptation of ‘Wuthering Heights’ would be her third feature film, posting the announcement on social media with the message: “Be with me always – take any form – drive me mad – a line from the novel.
Actor Barry Keoghan has told Variety he would be interested in a part in the movie, saying: “Anything that Emerald puts her hands on, I’m there. She’s incredible.”
Margot has told Variety about Emerald’s work: “Emerald immerses you into a world so quickly. She’s so masterful at tone and plot.
“She gets in your brain and she kind of taps into the most depraved parts of it, so that you’re complicit in the story.
“That’s the watercooler moment – the thing that people are talking about two weeks afterwards.”

Johnny Depp ‘has his DNA all over Modi directorial effort’

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny Depp “has his DNA” all over his ‘Modi’ directorial effort.
The ‘Edward Scissorhands’ actor, 61, has just wrapped helming the film ‘Modi, Three Days on the Wing of Madness’ starring Riccardo Scamarcio, 44, as the wild 20th century artist Amedeo Modigliani.
And the producer of the film Barry Navidi, 64, has now told Variety about Johnny’s commitment to the project: “Johnny fell in love with it. He’s got his DNA all over the picture.”
The movie executive added he had no qualms about getting Johnny to direct the picture after his recent legal woes with his ex-wife Amber Heard, 38, which saw him successfully sue the actress for defamation after she wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post in which she claimed to have been a victim of domestic abuse.
Barry said: “He’s exonerated. He won the case. And the reality is, it doesn’t really matter what everybody else thinks because he’s innocent and has a lot of loyal friends in Hollywood.
“I think it’s just a matter of time – that this movie perhaps is going to help and, at the same time, open doors. I know that his popularity is one thing in Hollywood – but the masses, the world, they love him.”
‘Modi’ is set in war-torn Paris in 1916 and follows 72 turbulent hours in the life of bohemian artist Modigliani, which sees him flee police, experience hallucinations and he encounters American art collector Maurice Gangnat, played by 84-year-old Al Pacino.
Barry added he gave Johnny free reign over the project, saying: “I’m not someone who goes after a vision of my own.
“Once I pick the director and I work with them and the crew, I let them be.”
‘Modi’ also stars Stephen Graham, Antonia Desplat, Bruno Gouery and Luisa Ranieri.
Al Pacino first spoke with Johnny about making a film about Modigliani while they were shooting their 1997 gangster movie ‘Donnie Brasco’.
