Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix ‘laughed a lot’ making Joker: Folie a Deux

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga says she and Joaquin Phoenix “laughed a lot” making “dark” movie ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’.
The 38-year-old pop star is the Harley Quinn to Joaquin’s Joker in the upcoming psychological thriller film, and she has revealed there was “never a dull” moment working with her hilarious co-star on the sequel to 2019’s ‘Joker’.
Speaking on the red carpet at the flick’s premiere in London on Wednesday (25.09.24), she said: “I loved working with Joaquin, it was never a dull day at the office.
“It was always super interesting.
“He’s very funny all the time, as dark as the world of ‘Joker’ is, we laughed a lot on set, and we were always just being as organic as possible.”
As well as her starring role, the ‘House of Gucci’ star has recorded the 13-song album ‘Harlequin’ to accompany the film.
Joaquin recently recalled Gaga “spitting up coffee” when she first heard his singing voice on set.
He told Empire magazine: “I do seem to remember her spitting up coffee the first time I sang, so that felt good, that was exciting, and made me feel confident.
“Gaga was always very encouraging of just, ‘Go with what you feel, it’s fine.'”
He added: “For somebody who’s not a performer in that way, it can be… uncomfortable to do that, but also very exciting.”
Joaquin explained that his mentally ill character’s singing voice is intentionally imperfect.
The Oscar-winning star said: “It was important to protect that with poor phrasing and occasional bum notes.
“Arthur grew up hearing his mother play these songs on the radio. He’s not a singer, and he shouldn’t sound like a professional singer. He should sound like somebody that’s taking a shower and just bursts out into song.”

Margaret Qualley’s husband Jack Antonoff ‘lied’ to Adam Sandler to land her a Happy Gilmore 2 part

OHMYGOSSIP — Margaret Qualley’s husband Jack Antonoff “lied” to Adam Sandler to secure her a part in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’.
The ‘Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood’ actress “begged” her agents to get her a role in the motion picture, because the 1996 original is her “favourite movie” and Sandler was her “first crush”.
Speaking on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, Qualley said: “I saw that there was gonna to be a ‘Happy Gilmore 2′ and I emailed my agents right away and I said, ‘Anything it takes – no part is too small. Please. I gotta be a part of this, I’m begging you. Please. Whatever it takes.’ ”
But knowing how desperate his wife was, singer-songwriter Antonoff took matters into his own hands and messaged Sandler.
In a text message exchange between the pair, Sandler – who will reprise his role as the titular star – asked: “Does your wife golf at all?”
Antonoff replied: “Yeah, she’s actually good.”
But Qualley has confessed it was a complete lie, because she hadn’t “golfed a day in [her] life” at the time.
She said: “What a good husband. And I can’t golf.
“He lied for the sake of the family.
“I never golfed a day in my life. I’m terrible, actually.”
After landing a role in the forthcoming film, Qualley has taken “some” golf lessons, but admitted: “I’m still bad”.
Qualley has insisted she can now “die happy” after landing a small background part in the sequel.
She added: “It’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.
“It’s a tiny part. I’m essentially deep background, but I can die happy now.”
As well as Qualley, rapper Bad Bunny is set to appear in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’, and NFL star Travis Kelce – who is dating pop megastar Taylor Swift – is also expected to make a cameo appearance.
Speaking recently on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, Sandler said: “We have a nice something for Travis. He’s gonna come by.
“He’s a very nice guy. You guys would love him in real life. What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell. He’s a stud and he’s so funny.”
Plot details for the sequel are yet to be revealed, but the original film told the story of unsuccessful ice hockey player Gilmore, who discovers he has a talent for golf.

Nick Knowles reveals when Strictly bosses will decide if he can perform on Saturday

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Knowles is still unsure whether he can perform on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ this Saturday (28.09.24) after injuring his shoulder and arm – but he will find out on Thursday afternoon.
The ‘DIY SOS’ presenter was changing a tyre when he hurt his shoulder and arm, but he has been rehearsing with his professional partner Luba Mushtuk this week, to show producers he is still able to dance the American Smooth on Saturday night.
The 62-year-old star admitted his shoulder is “repairing very well”, and following a successful training session on Wednesday, he revealed a decision will be made on Thursday afternoon (26.09.24) about his potential weekend performance.
Speaking in a video posted to his X account on Wednesday night (25.09.24), he said: “So a bit of an update for you. I’ve just got out of soaking in the bath after a day’s training, which went very, very well.
“The shoulder is repairing very well. I saw a great physio today as well that’s helped enormously.
“So, I get another day’s training tomorrow.
“The decision will be made tomorrow afternoon, whether I can actually compete on Saturday. I’m doing my level best to get there – keeping my fingers crossed. So, hopefully see you Saturday.”
Nick is said to have been “pleading” with show bosses to let him perform on the programme this weekend.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Nick is desperate to carry on and is insisting he is fine to perform but the BBC are naturally wary.
“If Nick continues and does more damage to himself in the long run it puts them in a tricky position.
“His health comes first but Nick is pleading with them to continue.”
However, the pair won’t have much time to perfect their routine if they are cleared to perform.
A source said: “Nick needs to learn a whole routine, he has barely any time at all.
“If he is cleared he will need to learn quickly. Luba is an amazing teacher and she is confident they can do it. But, ultimately, it might get to a point that the BBC just put their foot down.”
Following his injury, Nick has been spotted with his arm in a sling.

John Barrowman quit Celebrity SAS after projectile vomiting

OHMYGOSSIP — John Barrowman quit ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’ after throwing up his lunch on his way to the first challenge.
The 57-year-old TV star flew to New Zealand to take part in the gruelling challenge show alongside famous faces including Rachel Johnson and Bianca Gascoigne but he walked away from the series after filming started on the first episode – and now it’s been revealed his exit came after he got sick during a two-hour car journey.
John admitted he wasn’t happy with the vegetarian lunch and it soon came back up again. He told The Sun newspaper: “I’m not a vegan or a vegetarian, but they made everybody eat vile tofu.
“I would never eat tofu in my life, but you’re so hungry, you just eat it … Then it was projectile vomit everywhere and the tofu came up. I thought, ‘I’m not going to make myself ill or hurt myself in order to try to prove something that I don’t need to prove’. ”
He added of his decision to leave the show: It was seriously me going: ‘I am completely comfortable with who I am. I’m completely a happy person. We’ve all got our issues and problems, but I’ve made a mistake’.”
A source previously told the publication John’s departure was one of the fastest in the show’s history. The insider said: “John’s exit from ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’ will go down in the show’s history as the fastest ever.
“They’d all got kitted up in their uniforms and had started filming in New Zealand when he chose to walk out.
“It is an incredibly mentally and physically challenging television show and the task they were facing was difficult. Most of the stars were shocked when after 30 minutes John said he did not want to take part any longer.”
Other celebrities taking part in the show include former ‘Love Island’ contestant Ovie Soko, ‘TOWIE’ regular Pete Wicks, ‘Geordie Shore’ star Marnie Simpson and gymnast Ellie Downie.

Natasha Lyonne auditioned for Wild Things

OHMYGOSSIP — Natasha Lyonne auditioned for Neve Campbell’s role in ‘Wild Things’ but she was “definitely not getting that part”.
The ‘Orange Is The New Black’ star has revealed she tried out for the 1998 movie – which also starred Matt Dillon and Denise Richards – but she didn’t get a call back and she later realised she had got it wrong when she dressed “like a Robert Palmer girl” from the musician’s famous ‘ Addicted To Love’ music video.
According to Variety, Natasha opened up about the experience during a question-and-answer session in Los Angeles to promote her new movie ‘His Three Daughters’, saying: ” I was nailing it. But I was definitely not getting that part. It was not what they were looking for.”
The actress added of Campbell’s performance: “Clearly, she’s a wonderful actress and the film holds up”
Natasha went on to reveal she spent years hating the audition process until she stepped behind the camera and realised rejection isn’t “personal”.
She explained: “I would be crushed again and again. And I discovered on the other side as a producer, a director, a writer [that] it’s so not personal. It was the oddest thing to discover – I’d spent literally 30 years of my life thinking I just needed to do a good enough job.”
Natasha stars in ‘His Three Daughters’ alongside Elizabeth Olsen, who told the audience at the event that she actually really likes trying out for parts.
She said: “I love auditioning. I know that’s not everyone’s feelings but, I mean, you get to go act for a day. You have something to do for 20 minutes, something to focus on.
“You’re going to fail potentially, but you get to try something. And if it works that the other person likes the thing, you’re kind of getting a vibe for one another.”

Can’t wait to get back in the training room tomorrow! Thank you so much for all the support! (sic)”
Amy recently shared how being back on ‘Strictly’ is a “celebration” after she was forced to take a break from the BBC One Latin and ballroom competition after being diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2023.
In an interview with Closer magazine, she said: “It’s been such a celebration. It’s so lush. I feel like I’m home. We’ve worked so hard over the last few weeks on spectacular group numbers, I’m just so excited for the 20th year to be hitting your screens.”
Amy – who was supported during her battle by her friends and family and especially her husband Ben Jones – is extremely proud to be back as there were times during her cancer treatment where she never believed she would be able to dance again.
She said: “It’s so surreal. I can’t believe the place I was in this time last year to what I am now. There were so many times when I didn’t think it was going to be possible. I’m just really proud of myself. I hope it gives others going through treatment hope and courage.”

Sharon Rooney was surprised Greta Gerwig wanted her for Barbie

OHMYGOSSIP — Sharon Rooney thought her agent was joking when she told her Greta Gerwig wanted her for ‘Barbie’.
The ‘My Mad Fat Diary’ star, 35, was obsessed with the Mattel doll growing up, noting “I had Barbie everything”, and landed a small role as Lawyer Barbie alongside Margot Robbie (Barbie) and Ryan Gosling (Ken) in director’s 2023 blockbuster.
But when she heard the ‘Lady Bird’ filmmaker wanted her to appear in her film, she didn’t quite believe it and had to double check her agent wasn’t playing a prank.
She told The i newspaper: “My agent said: ‘I was just phoning to see if you fancied making a film with Greta Gerwig?’. I was like: ‘Shut up. What did you actually phone me for?’
“You don’t think something like that is going to happen on a random midweek evening.”
Sharon – who shot to fame playing Rae, who suffers with mental health and body image issues, in hit teen comedy-drama ‘My Mad Fat Diary’ in 2013 – usually likes to play women who are flawed in some way.
She noted: “I mean, it’s Barbie, Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie. If there’s going to be an exception to a rule, I think it’s that, isn’t it?”
The programme also starred Jodie Comer as Rae’s popular friend Chloe Gemell, and the 31-year-old actress has gone on to big things in Hollywood, landing parts in the likes of ‘The Last Duel’, ‘The Bikeriders’ and ‘Free Guy’, after her breakthrough role as Villanelle / Oksana Astankova in BBC spy thriller series ‘Killing Eve’.
Sharon gushed: “She’s the best – I couldn’t be more proud of her.”

Amy Hart almost fell over as she walked down the aisle

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Hart almost fell down a flight of stairs as she walked down the aisle to marry her fiance Sam Rason in Spain.
The ‘Love Island’ star tied the knot with Sam earlier this month in a ceremony which was held in an outdoor amphitheatre at the Casa de la Era farm near at Malaga and Amy had to navigate some tricky steps in a floor-length dress and high-heeled shoes as she was escorted to the altar by her dad Ian – and they both nearly tumbled down.
Amy, 32, told OK! magazine: “I didn’t get emotional walking down the aisle because although I knew I’d have to walk down the amphitheatre steps, I realised that in that dress and in heels, it wouldn’t be easy.
“They’re not even, and I started laughing at one point because there was one really massive one and my dad said to me, ‘Oh, we both nearly went there’, so I was really concentrating on where I was walking!”
Amy made it down the aisle to the sounds of ‘You’re Already There’ by Alison Jiear and was able to exchange vows with Sam without incident.
She wore a white lace gown for her big day and admitted she chose it because it had a Spanish feel to it.
The TV star explained: “I used to do pageants and now I get to go on red carpets, so everything I tried on at first felt too pageant-ey or like it should be on a red carpet.
“Then the manager of The Wedding Club asked me if I wanted to try it on, and even in the cubicle I wasn’t sure. But when I walked out and saw it in the mirror, and then they put the veil on, I knew straight away it was the dress for me.
“It looked very Spanish, very ‘Mob Wives’, very dramatic and the craftsmanship was just incredible. It was perfect for me.”
The couple first met in 2021 and welcomed a son named Stanley last year before getting engaged. Sam staged an elaborate surprise proposal at a theatre and Amy later admitted she had no idea he was planning to get down on one knee.
In a post on Instagram, she wrote: “And he said …hey, whatcha doin’ the rest of your life?’ Well and truly the biggest surprise ever We are so happy … ”
Amy later admitted she was “too stunned to speak” so ended up in tears. She wrote: “The woman was so too stunned to speak so she nervously laughed and cried a bit.”

Chris McCausland’s daughter worries he’ll ‘break a leg’ on Strictly

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris McCausland’s 10-year-old daughter Sophie is worried he’ll fall off stage and “break a leg” on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 46-year-old comedian is among the stars competing in the new series of the BBC talent show and he’s become the first blind contestant to take part – but he’s confessed it’s a huge challenge and his little girl is worried he’ll come away with a nasty injury.
In a column for the Telegraph newspaper, he wrote: “Have I mentioned that I was terrified?
“I mean, how can I possibly have confidence in my ability to do something when I can’t see the entirely visual thing that I’m being asked to do?
“On top of that, stick it on live TV where failures are there for everybody to see and where the chance of a generous edit is absolute zero, and what could possibly go wrong?”
Chris added of his daughter’s reaction to his involvement: “I showed my 10-year-old daughter a clip of the show and asked her if I should do it. ‘No, Daddy,’ she said. ‘You’ll fall off the stage and break your leg.’
“She’s a joker at heart, but she’s got a point. Not quite the ringing endorsement other celebrities get. But I’ve checked and there is no stage so the joke’s on her …”
Chris is dancing with partner Dianne Buswell, who has revealed she uses a different technique to help him master the moves on the dancefloor.
During this weekend’s (21-22.09.24) show, she explained: “I can’t show him what something needs to look like.
“I’ve found Chris places his hand on my body and feels how my arms and my legs are moving and then he instantly gets an idea of what he should be doing.”
Chris added: “She is really patient and bringing the best out of me”.
The pair landed in fourth place on the leaderboard after their first dance this weekend scoring 23 points with their Cha Cha to ‘Twist and Shout’ by The Beatles.

Kelly Brook ‘not sure’ about having kids with Jeremy Parisi

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelly Brook is “not sure” about having kids with Jeremy Parisi.
The 44-year-old model-turned-TV star married her longtime partner in Italy in 2022 but she’s now admitted they still aren’t ready to start a family yet because she wants to focus on work and finding a new place to live before they think about having children.
Kelly told OK! magazine: “We have our little fur baby dog, Teddy, but I’m not sure about having children yet. At the moment we are focused on work and where we want to live in the world.
“It’s very hard to think about children when you don’t know where you might be living. We need to be more settled before we think about children.”
Kelly went on to insist her mum taught her not to rush into having children after she became a mum herself at 17.
The telly star explained: “I think my drive comes from just wanting to explore the world and be independent financially. It comes from my mum teaching me not to rush into having kids because she was 17 when she had me, so she made me feel that life was there for the taking.”
Kelly and Jeremy have been spending a lot of time in Italy in recent years and have even been working on their own reality show featuring the couple attempting to harvest olives at his family’s estate in Arpino and she recently admitted they are hoping to spend more time in the region in future.
In a post on Instagram, the former ‘Big Breakfast’ presenter wrote: “Arpino is where we were married and is definitely a place we will be spending more time in the future and I’m looking forward to learning more about the business of olive oil farming.”
Kelly and Jeremy married in July 2022 in the Italian town of Civitavecchia with the extravagant ceremony reported to have cost around £500,000. However, their big day was almost ruined by a rainstorm which forced them to move the outdoor reception under cover.
Speaking on Vicky Pattison’s ‘The Secret To’ podcast, Kelly explained: “It was like biblical rain, you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face. It had not rained in that region for eight months and I don’t think it has since. I look completely stressed and with straggly hair.
“Jeremy watches the wedding video all the time but I can’t face it yet … We were winging it the whole way. It made it so much fun. And it gave it the essence and authenticity of it being Italian and that is what I really wanted. You can’t have the rainbow without the rain.”

‘It was really bad’: Dylan O’Brien recalls Frozen II audition fail

OHMYGOSSIP — Dylan O’Brien has admitted his audition for ‘Frozen II’ was “really bad”.
The 33-year-old actor recalled trying out for the 2019 Disney sequel but left the casting director disappointed when she found out that he couldn’t sing to the standard required for the part.
During an appearance on ‘Late Night with Seth Myers’, O’Brien said: “This poor woman. I remember, actually — this is a specific detail — she asked me, painfully, if I could get to the chorus because she needed to see if I had a certain range. [I was] swimming in the first verse a little bit [and then] went higher … it was really bad. I knew. She knew. It’s okay.
“When she said to me, ‘Okay, okay’… She said two ‘okays.’ I’ll never forget it.
“And then she said, ‘Thank you for coming in. I think we’d probably need a bit of a stronger singer.’ and I was already just nodding, going, ‘Yeah, I know.’ I was like, ‘Thanks for having me.’”
‘The Maze Runner’ star added he knew he likely wouldn’t land the part because he isn’t a “multitalented” performer.
He said: “I knew that I probably wasn’t going to get it.
“They’re looking for multitalented, multi-hyphenate people who can act and sing. And I didn’t check, to be honest, probably either.”
While O’Brien looks back at his ‘Frozen II’ audition “fondly”, the former ‘Teen Wolf’ actor previously admitted that he gets “really nervous” trying out for film roles.
He told Collider: “I get really nervous, going into rooms to audition. When you have to go to the casting, and the director and producers are there and there’s a couch of people, there’s something really triggering about that whole process.
“I don’t know a single person who’s comfortable with that process. You’re insane, if you are! It’s not normal!”
O’Brien explained that he “absolutely falls on [his] face” in the audition room and much prefers taping himself for casting directors because it allows him to be comfortable in his “own space”.
He said: “I absolutely fall on my face in those environments. There’s so much anxiety, so many nerves, and your heart is pounding. You can’t really disappear into it. You have a wall of people staring right at you. It’s tough.
“The tape thing is a lot easier. I would say it’s helpful to be able to be in your own space. Essentially, what you’re doing is trying to pitch your idea, as succinctly as you can in one or two takes of your take on the character and the piece. It’s hard to do that when you’re not comfortable!”

Sebastian Stan didn’t ‘get sleep’ playing Donald Trump in The Apprentice

OHMYGOSSIP — Sebastian Stan didn’t “get sleep” during his portrayal of Donald Trump in ‘The Apprentice’.
The 42-year-old actor stars opposite Jeremy Strong and Maria Bakalova as the controversial former US president in the upcoming drama, and has now revealed he had several restless nights spent perfecting his take on the maverick politician.
During an appearance on ‘Today’, he said: “Well, [you] try to get sleep, which I didn’t. There’s a lot of research out there, there’s a lot of footage and documentaries. It’s pretty much been very well documented, his sort of rise into what we see today.
“And to me, it’s like playing an instrument. You sit at the piano, you get better at it with practice, and eventually you can just kinda do it in your sleep.”
In order to ensure his performance as the businessman was as accurate as possible, Stan studied roughly 700 video clips of Trump spanning 50 years.
The Marvel star told Variety: “I had 130 videos on his physicality on my phone. And 562 videos that I had pulled with pictures from different time periods – from the 70s all the way to today – so I could pull out his speech patterns and try to improvise like him.”
After studying the way Trump speaks, Sebastian realised he needed to change the way he moved his lips.
He explained: “I started to realise that I needed to start speaking with my lips in a different way. A lot of that came from the consonants. If I’m talking, I’m moving forward … The consonants naturally forced your lips forward.”
The picture’s director Ali Abbasi added the ‘Thunderbolts*’ actor had to find the right balance when playing the presidential candidate so it didn’t stray into the realms of impersonation.
He said: “If he did 10 per cent more of what he did, it would become ‘Saturday Night Live’. If he did 10 per cent less, then he’s not conjuring that person.
“But here’s the thing about Sebastian: He’s very inspired by reality, by research. And that’s also the way I work; if you want to go to strange places, you need to get your baseline reality covered very well.”
‘The Apprentice’ – which will be released on 18 October – follows Trump’s rise to power in the 1980s during his early years as a real estate businessman in New York.

Strictly’s Nick Knowles suffers arm injury

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Knowles is facing an uncertain future on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ after injuring his shoulder and arm in a freak accident while changing a tyre.
The 62-year-old TV presenter is among the stars competing in the new series of the BBC talent show, but his next performance is now in doubt after he hurt himself while fixing his car at the side of the road after breaking down during a trip with his young son.
Nick shared a video on Instagram which showed him with his arm in a sling and he explained what happened, saying: “Good morning. I thought I’d give a little update. As you can see my arm is in a sling and that’s because at the weekend my car broke down at the side of the motorway. I had my little boy in the car, so I wanted to change the tyre as quickly as I possibly could to make sure we were safe.
“And in the process of hurrying to get the wheel off as quickly as I possibly could, because there was a big wheel on my big car, I managed to damage my shoulder and arm a little bit.
“I’m not sure how or what but it’s been quite painful although a little better this morning.”
Nick went on to reveal he was on his way to a clinic in London for a scan before heading to dance training and he feels confident he will be given the green light to perform next weekend.
He added: “So I’m on my way up to London to Harley Street to get a scan done and to get some top medical advice. But I am heading to training afterwards so I can learn the steps of my next dance, and I’ll see you on [spin-off show] ‘It Takes Two’ a bit later today.
“Where hopefully I’ll have more information and be able to update you but I’ll keep you posted during the course of the day anyway. Not ideal but I’m convinced [it’s] not something that’s going to stop me dancing this weekend.”

Pasha Kovalev was addicted to iPhones

OHMYGOSSIP — Pasha Kovalev was addicted to iPhones and used to splash the cash on getting the latest model every time one came out.
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star has admitted he has a weakness for new technology and used to go all out to make sure he had the latest device in his pocket no matter how much it cost.
He told The Sunday Times newspaper: “I used to be obsessed with buying the latest iPhone. Whenever a new model came out I needed to have it. I look back and wonder what I was thinking.”
However, Pasha has managed to ditch the habit and now only buys refurbished phones. He added: “Now I buy refurbished phones, which still have the same photographic and storage capabilities, so I don’t need to break the bank to support my phone addiction.”
He went on to talk about some of his biggest spending extravagances – revealing he used to spend thousands treating his friends to luxury skiing holidays.
Pasha said: “I love travel, so on a few occasions I’ve spent a lot on Christmas skiing holidays to Aspen or Whistler or somewhere in France or Switzerland.
