Coleen Rooney’s ‘I’m A Celeb codename revealed’

OHMYGOSSIP — Coleen Rooney was reportedly given the codename “Marple” before her appearance on ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!’ was confirmed.
Wayne Rooney’s wife has headed into the jungle for the new series of the ITV reality series which reports suggesting she’s taking home a staggering £1.5 million fee for the appearance – and now it’s been revealed bosses were keen to keep her involvement secret so they gave a codename relating to her Wagatha Christie drama.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Bosses at ITV were desperate to keep Coleen’s signing a secret for as long as they possibly could.
“She’s the biggest and best for years and they broke the bank to get her, so they wanted to keep schtum on it until the last minute.
“They come up with a codename for all the contestants, and sometimes it’s something to do with that particular person.
“The choice for Coleen was apt and it would take someone with her detective skills to work it out.”
Marple is a nod to the character of Miss Marple – the fictional detective created by Agatha Christie. Coleen became linked to the crime writer back in 2019 when she was branded Wagatha Christie over her online sleuthing which led to her naming an Instagram account belonging to fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy as the source of leaks to the press.
The row led to a multimillion pound court battle after Rebekah unsuccessfully sued Coleen and was ordered to 90 per cent of her legal costs.
Speaking to journalists before she headed into camp, Coleen insisted she wants to put the whole saga behind her.
She said: “That’s a place that I’ve been, I’ve dealt with it. In my life now, I’m just moving forward and not looking back. That’s something I’ve done my whole life, dealt with things, moved forward at the time and got on. There are more important things to think about with the family and kids …
“I think I’d rather just be known as Coleen from Liverpool. Not from any other type of place. It’s just me, as I always have been. So hopefully people just think she’s that Scouser that she’s always been.”
The paper reports other campmates were also given codenames with Jane Moore – who writes a column for The Sun – being called “Moon”, former boxer Barry McGuigan was reportedly called “Cyclones” in a nod to his nickname The Clones Cyclone and McFly singer Danny Jones being named ‘Rocket’.

Pierce Brosnan believes Mamma Mia! 3 is ‘doable’

OHMYGOSSIP — Pierce Brosnan believes a third ‘Mamma Mia!’ film is “doable” following a meeting with producer Judy Craymer over the summer.
The 71-year-old actor has confirmed he would “welcome the opportunity” to return for another installment of the ABBA-inspired films after previously appearing in the 2008 original and the 2018 follow-up ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “[‘Mamma Mia!’ producer] Judy Craymer is a dear friend, and we met during the summer, and I believe that my fellow thespians would all jump at the chance to go and do ‘Mamma Mia 3’.
“I think it’s doable. Of course, it’s always the story. What is the story? I would definitely welcome the opportunity to go back into the world of ‘Mamma Mia!’, for sure.”
Craymer has previously admitted she’s keen to get going on a third film, but she revealed ABBA stars Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson were worried there isn’t enough good material left in their back catalogue to make it work.
She told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “A third movie is something I want to do very much. The studio wants to do it. Benny and Bjorn need a bit more persuasion.
“They’re saying, ‘There aren’t enough songs’. And I say, ‘There are enough songs and I know how they could work’. There is so much you can do with those songs.”
However, another castmember Christine Baranski recently revealed Craymer is feeling optimistic and has even mapped out a storyline.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “I was in London with Judy Kramer at our favourite watering hole, she is planning ‘Mamma Mia 3’.
“She gave me the narrative plotline of how it’s going to happen. That’s all I can say! But, it’s not like, ‘Oh, I wish it could happen!’ Judy Kramer makes things happen.”
‘The Good Wife’ star – who played the part of Tanya Chesham-Leigh in the franchise – added: “People are drawn to happiness and to joy, not doom and gloom.
“‘Mamma Mia’ made so many millions of people around the world happy. Is it a little dumb, a little campy? That’s part of its charm.”

Tommy Cannon keeps Bobby Ball’s ashes at the bottom of his staircase

OHMYGOSSIP — Tommy Cannon keeps Bobby Ball’s ashes at the bottom of his stairs.
The ‘Cannon and Ball’ performer lost his comedy sidekick in 2020, aged 76, after he contracted COVID-19, and Tommy has now revealed the late ‘Not Going Out’ star’s remains are kept at the bottom of his stairs and he greets him every morning.
Tommy, 86, told the Daily Star newspaper: “Every time I come down the stairs, they’re there, and I say: ‘Morning, pal.’
“It’s so emotional. He was one of the funniest lads ever, and I was just so lucky.”
Tommy and Bobby had a comedy variety show called ‘The Cannon and Ball Show’ on ITV, and it ran for nine years.
The duo met for the first time while they were working at an Oldham factory in the 1960s, where Bobby made the first move to ignite the start of their decades-long friendship.
He recalled: “Going for a job as a welder, he was the first person to speak to me.
“He said: ‘Hiya, you alright, pal?’ and he walked away, and I thought: ‘That’s a funny little beggar …’ and the rest is history.
Tommy is touring the UK with his ‘Rock on Tommy’ show, in which he talks about working with his long-time friend.
Tommy claims he can still feel Bobby’s presence with him on the stage, which gives him the boost to go out and play to a crowd.
Tommy added: “That encourages me to go on, because I know he’s saying to me: ‘Come on, boy, you can do it – rock on.'”
Although COVID-19 forced Tommy to take two years off from work, the show is a “celebration of Bob’s life”.
Speaking about his plans for the show on ‘The God Cast’ podcast in 2022, Tommy explained: “I’m hoping to take a show out where I’m going to be interviewed by a guy, and tell the world about our story together. 60 years in the business.
“Our ups, our downs, the daft things that Bob did and I did. Then I’m going to ask the audience if they want to ask me any questions.
“I want it to be a tribute, but I also want it to be a celebration of Bob’s life. I’ll feel really good about that if we can get that together. I think we will.”

Simon Pegg teases Mission: Impossible 8 will be ‘the best one ever’

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Pegg thinks ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ will be “the best one” in the series.
The 54-year-old actor is due to reprise his role as secret agent Benji Dunn – a character he has played since 2006’s ‘Mission: Impossible III’ – in the upcoming blockbuster, and has now teased the eighth and last movie in the franchise will be surpass fan expectations when it lands in cinemas next year.
During an appearance on the ‘Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum’ podcast, Pegg said: “I have just finished shooting. I have one day left of pick-ups to do. I’ve seen it. It’s bananas. It’s absolutely bananas.”
The ‘Hot Fuzz’ actor added his co-star Tom Cruise – who leads the films as Ethan Hunt – had worked on some huge stunts for the movie that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
He continued: “What he does in this one, it boggles the mind. I think this one is the best one ever. And I’m not just saying that because it’s like, ‘Oh, you’ve got to say that.’ It is going to be great.”
While he finds working on the ‘Mission: Impossible’ series “fun”, Pegg admitted production on the franchise can be “hard” and “sometimes arduous”.
And though he finds Cruise – who is also a producer on the movies alongside director Christopher McQuarrie – is “always very courteous” and often “cracks the whip” to keep things moving during filming, he also admitted his pal sometimes tries to put him off when the cameras start rolling.
The ‘Shaun of the Dead’ star shared: “He’s terrible when he’s in a great mood because he just gets really mischievous. He’ll always try and f*** me over on my coverage.
“There are days when I just see he gets that little glint in his eye and I’m like, ‘You don’t f****** dare man because I’m in this film too.’”
‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ – which also stars Haley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby, Hannah Waddingham and Ving Rhames – picks up immediately after the events of last year’s ‘Dead Reckoning’ as Ethan and his team attempt to stop an all-powerful artificial intelligence known as The Entity before it’s too late for global society.

Richard E. Grant joins Rosamund Pike in Netflix comedy Ladies First

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard E. Grant has signed on to the Netflix comedy ‘Ladies First’.
The 67-year-old actor will be reuniting with his ‘Saltburn’ co-star Rosamund Pike and joining Sacha Baron Cohen in the upcoming rom-com, which will be an adaption of Eleonore Pourriat’s French language film ‘I Am Not an Easy Man’ (‘Je ne suis pas un homme facile’), which was made available to stream on Netflix in 2018.
The original film stars Vincent Elbaz as a chauvinist who ends up in a parallel universe where stereotypical gender roles are reversed.
As well as Grant, Emily Mortimer, Charles Dance, Fiona Shaw, Tom Davis and Weruche Opia are also part of the cast of ‘Ladies First’, which will be directed by ‘Me Before You’ filmmaker Thea Sharrock.
While it was previously confirmed Liza Chasin from 3dot Production and Four by Two Films’ Eleonore Dailly, Edouard de Lachomette would be producing ’Ladies First’, the picture is yet to receive a release date.
Grant could recently be seen in director Emerald Fennell’s dark comedy ‘Saltburn’, which followed Oxford University student Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) who visits his classmate Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi) at his family’s estate, only for series of disturbing events to engulf the boys and the house.
Grant – who played Felix’s father Sir James Catton – previously said he was delighted that the sexual scenes in ‘Saltburn’ “provoked so much” from audiences when it hit theatres last year.
In an interview for the Metro newspaper’s 60 Seconds column, the ‘Hudson Hawk’ star said: “Well, I think in the age we live where you can see anything on social media or download anything at any minute of the day, to have something that is still going to surprise people … and because it deals so forensically with sexual obsession … I love the fact that it provoked so much.
“The director, Emerald Fennell, said, ‘This is a family film. People should watch it with their grandmothers.’ And some of them did. And are still recovering!”

Lord of the Rings star John Rhys-Davies reveals the only way he could make franchise return…

OHMYGOSSIP — John Rhys-Davies will only return to ‘The Lord of the Rings’ franchise if he can forgo prosthetics in favour of CGI.
The 80-year-old actor played Gimli the Dwarf in Peter Jackson’s iconic fantasy trilogy and has now revealed the only way he could make a comeback to Middle Earth was if he was allowed to drop the prosthetics and instead use CGI to get into character, which was first utilised for his co-star Andy Serkis, who played Gollum/Sméagol in the films.
In an interview with Collider, Rhys-Davies said: “Well, I’m known to not want to put that prosthetic on again, but out of deference to Andy, whom I love and admire and again who has grown so much, if they invited me … oh God could I dare to put on that make-up again and lose my skin? Maybe with CGI.”
The ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’ star added he turned down a role in ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy – which began in 2012 with ‘An Unexpected Journey’ and concluded with ‘The Battle of the Five Armies’ in 2014 – due to the lengthy make-up process, and stressed he would not put up with any prosthetics if he were to suit up as Gimli again.
He continued: “Before when they asked me to do ‘The Hobbit’, for instance, I said no. No, not at all. Times have moved on and technology has moved on, if I don’t have to spend eight hours a day for three years of my life in a make-up chair, I might indeed do it.”
Even so, Rhys-Davies conceded his age would prove to be a major hurdle in playing the axe-wielding adventurer once more.
“The other thing is physically I am no longer capable of putting eighty pounds of extra armour and stuff on and climbing up mountains.”
The fantasy franchise will next see the animated flick ‘The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim’, which is set roughly 250 years before the events of the original trilogy and will release in December 2024.
After that, the spin-off ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’ – which is slated to hit cinemas in 2026 – will see Andy Serkis return as the titular character, with Jackson due to serve as executive producer.
The filmmaker previously explained it made more sense to give the character his own movie – which is also being directed by Serkis – compared to the likes of Aragorn (Viggo Mortenson), Legolas (Orlando Bloom) or Gandalf (Sir Ian McKellen) because the team “didn’t have time to cover” Gollum’s full backstory in the original pictures.
Jackson told Deadline: “The Gollum/Sméagol character has always fascinated me because Gollum reflects the worst of human nature, whilst his Sméagol side is, arguably, quite sympathetic.
“I think he connects with readers and film audiences alike, because there’s a little bit of both of them in all of us.
“We really want to explore his backstory and delve into those parts of his journey we didn’t have time to cover in the earlier films.”

Davina McCall recovering in intensive care after brain surgery

OHMYGOSSIP — Davina McCall is recovering in intensive care after undergoing brain surgery.
The TV host, 57, broke the news online on Friday (15.11.24) to fans she needed treatment after developing a “very rare” colloid cyst that affects only three in a million people.
Her hair stylist partner Michael Douglas, 50, has now shared an update on Instagram about her health, saying her operation had been “text book” and she is now in recovery.
He said: “Hey all, Davina is out of surgery and according to the surgeon it was textbook!
“She’s currently recovering in ICU as a precaution, as you can imagine she’s utterly exhausted.
“Thanks so much for all the love from everyone on here… it’s super powerful stuff, we are super grateful. Michael xx.”
Davina had announced in an online video she had received her cyst diagnosis after booking in for a health scan.
She said: “I was offered a health scan which I thought I was going to ace but it turned out I had benign brain tumour which is very rare, three in a million.
“I slightly put my head in the sand for a while, I saw a few neurosurgeons, had quite a lot of opinions and realised I needed to take it out.
“It’s quite big, it’s 14mm wide and it needs to come out because if it grows it would be bad.
“I’m having it removed.
“Say a prayer for me. I’m in good spirits.”
Davina added she had been feeling “up and down’ amid her health fright and said she would be in hospital for at least nine days before coming home.
A colloid cyst is a slow-growing tumour usually found near the middle of the brain and contains gelatinous material.
If it grows large enough it can obstruct movement of fluid in the brain and cause sudden death.
Most patients suffer headaches, with others having symptoms including vertigo, memory problems and double vision.

Bruce Goodison explains why he chose to direct new horror Black Cab

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruce Goodison decided to direct ‘Black Cab’ after finding “humanity” in the script.
The movie maker has been at the helm of dramas such as ‘Leave to Remain’ and ‘Our World War’ but while he doesn’t normally go for the genre of horror, he decided to take a chance on the new film – which follows a couple who are kidnapped by their taxi driver – because he could see the “moral core” within the antagonist.
He told Pop Horror: “I don’t normally do genre work, as in ghost stories, etc. But what I look for in everything I do is the humanity, even in really bad people, and even more so in really bad people. I find people who do bad things more interesting than the people they do them to, in many ways because you learn more about human nature by looking at what bad people do.
“When I read the first 20 pages and could see that Nick [Frost’s] character has a strong moral core in the way he’s behaving towards Patrick, who is a horror. I mean he really is a nasty, nasty, nasty, nasty man.
“I love what Nick’s character was doing so he has this moral core, but then obviously goes on to do something so horrendous for very good reasons because something very horrendous has happened to him in his life with his child and with his wife. ”
Bruce noted that the supernatural element of the film didn’t “fill [him] full of horror” but noted that it was all simply an “extension of the madness” within the story and wanted to use the notion that terror is within everyone as a “starting point” for the production.
He said: “And the fact that it has ghosts didn’t really fill me full of horror, which I know it should have done because it’s a horror film but it was more that they were an extension of the madness. And because it’s a road movie is another gift, isn’t it? You’re going from this illuminated city into this very, very scary countryside where there’s this folkloric story, this ghost story. For me, I wanted it to be rooted in something that felt coming from character. AMC, Shudder, Nick’s company, were all happy for me to do that with it. But obviously, it could have been taken in a different direction, but for me, horror is always in us. It’s not outside of us. That was my starting point.”
‘Black Cab’ is now streaming on Shudder.

Ali Bastian’s cancer fears

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Hollyoaks’ star Ali Bastian worried about losing her “identity” after hair loss amid her cancer battle.
The 42-year-old actress – who played Becca Dean in the Channel 4 soap from 2001 to 2007 – was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer in June and admitted that losing her hair was a very difficult part of the process.
She told The Sun’s Fabulous magazine: “I trot around with a bald head all the time at home. But I’d had this fear that becoming bald from chemo was me ‘becoming’ a cancer patient, and that was all anyone would see. I thought it would be like losing my identity.
“It frightened me that something which had previously been invisible would now be very visible. The hair loss from chemo is like an outward expression of how raw you feel inside. But losing your hair is a small price to pay to be well.”
Ali’s doctors initially believed the lump on her breast was a blocked duct from breastfeeding her daughter Izzy, 22, and she admitted she is “so relieved” that it did not go untreated.
The actress – who also has Isla, four, with husband David O’Mahony – said: “I’m so relieved I found the lump when I did.
“Pregnancy and breastfeeding are sensitive times for women, and we’re not exempt from needing to check our breasts during this time.
“If there’s anything that doesn’t feel right, get it checked. I’ll do anything I can to raise awareness for women to check their breasts.”

“Three in a million! So I slightly put my head in the sand for a while, and then I saw quite a few neurosurgeons, I got lots of opinions. I realised that I have to get it taken out. It’s big for the space – it fills the space. It’s 14mm wide. And it needs to come out because if it grows it would be bad.”

Rebekah Vardy wants jungle showdown with Coleen Rooney

OHMYGOSSIP — Rebekah Vardy wants ITV bosses to set up an ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ showdown with Coleen Rooney.
After Coleen signed up for the show, her rival Rebekah – who took part in 2017 – begged show bosses to bring her into the jungle in order to face-off with her fellow WAG.
Rebekah told The Sun: “If people really want us to meet up before that, then ITV should get me in that jungle as a special guest. What are they scared of? Confrontation? But isn’t that what the show’s all about? It’s about viewing figures.
“Coleen’s legal team were very dismissive about my reality TV past. They mocked it. So for her to be doing the jungle now, it’s hypocrisy at its finest, isn’t it?
“I think there was always a plan for reinvention. She stayed out of the public eye for so long.”
Coleen, 38, was previously unsuccessfully sued by Rebekah, 42, in the ‘Wagatha Christie’ libel showdown.
It came after Coleen named Rebekah’s Instagram account as the source of leaked stories to the press about her and Rebekah was ordered to pay 90 per cent of Coleen’s legal costs.
The case, which was dubbed Wagatha Christie for Coleen’s social media sleuthing, a reference to the legendary mystery author Agatha Christie, made headlines around the world and Rebekah would love to face-off with Coleen in the jungle.
Insisting she will watch the show, she said: “We’ll be watching avidly. Everyone seems to think I have this massive problem with Coleen going into the jungle.
“But do you know what? If you want to fan the fire, the flames are going to get higher.
“I wasn’t going to carry on talking about this, I had no intention of talking about it, but she clearly can’t let it go.”
