Alesha Dixon wants Britain’s Got Talent for kids

OHMYGOSSIP — Alesha Dixon wants a kids’ version of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
The 44-year-old star sits on the judging panel of the long-running ITV1 series – which has no age limit and made stars out of such asthen-child singer Connie Talbot, ventriloquist Jamie Leahey and then-teenage dancer George Sampson – with Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, and Bruno Tonioli and thinks that because the children always “show how the adults how it’s done”, it could be an “amazing experience” for the young contestant.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I would love a ‘Kids Got Talent’ because the kids rule, man.
“They always come out and show the adults how it’s done.
“It could be a very celebratory show where all the children have an amazing experience. And it wouldn’t matter who won, I think it would be a gorgeous show.”
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge – who is mother to daughters Azura, nine, and Anaya, three, with her husband Azuka Ononye – gushed about recent auditones the Chickenshed Community Choir “couldn’t be more” to her taste in explanation as to why she sent them straight through to the semi-finals with the Golden Buzzer.
She said: “This act couldn’t be more up my street if it tried to be.”
On the show – which airs on Saturday nights at 8.30 pm – Alesha told the group after slamming down on the prestigious button: “I love every single thing you stand for. Inclusivity is so important. Everyone is represented, and you do that in abundance. And you’re giving young people opportunities and platforms and I don’t know what else is more important than that.”
Simon labelled their audition “really” worthy of the moment after it wowed the judges and the audience at London’s The Palladium.
The 63-year-old music mogul said: “I’ve known about you for a while and what you do is actually incredible. This performance sums up everything you do. This really really really is a Golden Buzzer moment.”

Florence Pugh had a unique experience on Oppenheimer

OHMYGOSSIP — Florence Pugh relished working with Christopher Nolan on ‘Oppenheimer’.
The 27-year-old actress features in the upcoming movie as J. Robert Oppenheimer’s (Cillian Murphy) love interest Jean Tatlock and felt that ‘The Dark Knight’ filmmaker was a “master” behind the camera.
Florence told BBC Radio 1: “Working with Christopher Nolan was quite possibly one of the most thrilling experiences in a different way, partly because he works with professionals. He is a professional.
“But his dedication to the craft of filmmaking and old filmmaking is just magical to watch.”
Florence is joined in the movie by an all-star cast including Emily Blunt, Matt Damon and Robert Downey Jr. and she explained how every member of the cast and crew were willing to work hard for the director.
The ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ star said: “To just watch every single crew member on that set work hard for him, to get his approval. And not like in a weird way, but like everybody knows who they’re working for and everybody’s proud of being there.
“Everybody has so much pride in their own work and so what that does is it means that everybody is constantly trying to be better the next day. And I’ve never seen that feeling on set before.”
Florence added: “Everybody is wanting to be like, ‘I’m good, let me show you how good I am.’ Even us, you know, we were there all day, we don’t sit down. That’s another thing, you don’t really sit down, you’re just waiting seeing what you can be told to do. It’s very exciting.”
The actress recently explained how she “abused (herself)” to get into character for the film ‘Midsommar’, in which she played grieving student Dani – who psychologically breaks down during a trip to Sweden with her toxic boyfriend.
Speaking to James Acaster and Ed Gamble on the ‘Off Menu’ podcast, Pugh said: “When I did it, I was so wrapped up in her and I’ve never had this ever before with any of my characters.
“I’d never played someone that was in that much pain before, and I would put myself in really s***** situations that maybe other actors don’t need to do but I would just be imagining the worst things.”

Karen Gillan in ‘denial’ about Guardians of the Galaxy ending

OHMYGOSSIP — Karen Gillan is in “denial” about the end of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ franchise.
The 35-year-old actress is reprising her role as Nebula in the new Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ and finds it “bittersweet” to be bidding farewell to the series.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Karen said: “I was holding on to a fair amount of denial. I don’t want it to be over, I’m too sad to say goodbye, but every time we do one of these, it starts to become more real.
“This movie is about to be released to the world and then that’s it, and it’s amazing but it’s bittersweet and sad and it’s all of the emotions.”
Pom Klementieff, who plays the role of Mantis, added: “It feels sad, but I feel very grateful to have been able to experience this rollercoaster of emotions with the cast and (filmmaker) James (Gunn) and to play with these really unique and fun and strong and amazing characters.”
The movie features a one-take action sequence and Karen was “terrified” of making a mistake in the scene as she knew she would collide with the cameraman if she did so.
The ‘Gunpowder Milkshake’ star said: “We went into with the knowledge that we had to get this all right in one take, so the pressure was on.
“It was always really intricate because I had to do all these moves, but I had to be in the exact right position because the cameraman was on wires and I would do my move and then he would fly up and over me. If I was in the wrong place, he was going to collide with me and so I just remember looking terrified before every take.”

‘It was the most insane job ever!’ Khris Davis gained 50 pounds in a week to play George Foreman

OHMYGOSSIP — Khris Davis is grateful for his theatrical background because it helped him prepare for the “insane” physicality needed for ‘Big George Foreman.’
The 36-year-old actor has starred in plays like ‘Sweat’ and ‘Death of a Salesman’ but is now playing the role of the legendary boxer and “understood” how to do certain things with his body as it helped him prepare for the “most insane” job he has ever had.
He told ScreenRant: “This is the most insane job I’ve ever done as it pertains to body changes. Coming from the theatre world, I understand how to do some physical things with the body that can either shrink you or make you appear larger.
“Understanding that kind of physicality [because] I come from theatre… I’m glad I had that background, because then I can go from young to a little bit older. We’re talking about [George Foreman at] 17, and then, in another part of the film, he’s 45. That’s a completely different way of being, so, you know, there was that.”
The ’Judas and the Black Messiah’ star went on to add that because his character in the biopic required an increasing weight to depict the boxer’s muscular state and age, he ended up gaining 50 pounds in a single week in what became the most “taxing” role of his career so far.
He said: “[Also, there’s] the weight gain and the weight loss. In the first half of the film, I was vacillating between 228 to 242 [pounds] week by week.
“To be younger, [you] shrink yourself, than to be heavyweight champion, [you’ve] got to bulk up, got to be Big George Foreman in the ring. Then, later on, [I] gained 50 pounds in five weeks. I went from 225 to 275 in five weeks, eating 7,000 calories a day. It was the most physically taxing job I’ve ever done in my life. “
‘Big George Foreman’ is in cinemas from Friday 28 April.

Shaun Ryder leaves I’m A Celeb after failing a trial with Gillian McKeith

OHMYGOSSIP — Shaun Ryder and Gillian McKeith have left ‘I’m A Celebrity…South Africa.’
The 60-year-old musician had been taking part in the all-stars version of the celebrity survival series alongside ‘You Are What You Eat’ presenter Gillian, 63, more than a decade after they developed something of a rivalry on the regular version of the show in 2010 but had to leave the camp less than a week into the run of the pre-recorded series.
On Friday’s (28.04.23) episode, Gillian and Shaun joined forces as they went up against fellow celebrity pairs such as 2017 Queen of the Jungle Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo and cricket player Phil Tuffnell, as well as ‘Coronation Street’ actor Andy Whyment and ‘Diversity’ star Jordan Banjo as the separate teams fought to remain in the camp by undertaking a series of methodical tasks in Savage Safari whilst handcuffed a long chain as they attempted to free themselves with tools found in snake-and-rat-infested boxes.
As the only team who failed to free themselves, Gillian and Shaun had to leave camp immediately, and upon his exit Shaun reflected: “I wanted to take Phil home with me! I’ve really enjoyed it second time round though!”
Previously in the episode, Gillian – who during her first run on the show had been subjected to six trials by public vote before infamously fainting live on air – had been seen revealing to the camp her spice-stuffed knickers, echoing an incident from 2010 and explained that she decided
Quizzed on why she failed the trial and what exactly was in her knickers, she told hosts Ant and Dec: “There were quite a few snakes in there and one of their heads popped out and I got such a fright. I couldn’t shift the other snake to get to the thingy! I smuggled in 30 teabags, 25 almonds, a whole packet of zinc!”
Just before leaving the screen for the final time, Gillian declared that she has had the “time of her life” on the special edition of ‘I’m A Celebrity’.
She said: “My time on ‘I’m A Celebrity’ has been fantastic, it’s been the best time of my life and I can’t believe I’m saying that, but it’s true!”
And appearing to call time on their rivalry, Happy Mondays star Shaun was seen with his arms around Gillian as claimed he had come out with the “prize” and joked that the pair of them ought to get married.
He said: “I’m a bit gutted to be going but that’s how it is. I’m feeling good and I’ve come out with the prize, so I’ve won! I think we’ve come full circle, now we’re gonna have to get married!”

Gillian McKeith smuggles ‘spicy knickers’ into camp on I’m A Celeb…again!

OHMYGOSSIP — Gillian McKeith smuggled knickers full of spices into camp on ‘I’m A Celebrity…South Africa’
The 63-year-old nutritionist famously stitched a variety of herbs and spices into her undergarments during her appearance on the regular version of the ITV1 survival show in 2010 and appears to have pulled the same trick on a greater scale now that she is appearing in the all-stars version in South Africa, claiming only to have remembered about her contraband after initially forfeiting a bra stuffed with teabags stuffed into it the previous day.
Speaking on Friday’s (28.04.23) episode, the ‘You Are What You Eat’ host told her campmates: “I just want to talk to you about something, all of you. So you know how I had this misunderstanding of contraband and what it actually means, like the definition, Well, I had an epiphany because last night I gave up my bra stuff and then I remembered this morning and thought ‘Oh my God!’ I forgot my spicy knickers! It’s been quite difficult wearing spicy knickers every day, I forgot I had them. It was like an amnesia thing. So here they are and if you’d allowed me to help you with the dinner, you would have had the best meals ever!”
“These are a two-layered set of knickers with a pocket at the back. Now, in here, I had thyme, marjoram, rosemary, oregano, basil, and tarragon. I’ve got dill weed. I’ve got stock cubes, soup mix. I’ve got six pockets in the first layer of knicker.”
In the bush telegraph, boxer Amir Khan explained: “Gillian literally had a whole tuck shop in her underpants, the list just went on and on!”
When former ‘Made In Chelsea’ star Queen of the Jungle Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo exclaimed in wonder: “How did you even make that contraption?, Gillian replied: “I’m very handy, I’m very resourceful. This is gluten-free soy sauce!” whilst supermodel and 2007 runner-up Janice Dickinson said she was “shocked” at how someone could come up with such a “brilliant plan.”
After confirming that Gillian had indeed been wearing the knickers throughout her time on the show, ‘Countdown’ legend Carol Vorderman remarked: “She always ate on her bed so she was obviously having a rummage into her spicy knickers and having a sprinkle!”

Damon Lindelof ‘asked to leave’ Star Wars

OHMYGOSSIP — Damon Lindelof was “asked to leave” his ‘Star Wars’ project.
The ‘Lost’ creator and Justin Britt-Gibson had been hired by Disney and Lucasfilm to write a script for an upcoming ‘Star Wars’ movie but Damon revealed that they were let go.
He told Esquire: “I was in more than talks to join the ‘Star Wars’ universe. I joined the ‘Star Wars’ universe and was asked to leave.”
However, he hasn’t ruled out a return to the franchise, explaining: “Will I get back in line outside the club and try to get back in again? Absolutely.
“If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again, or again again try, as Yoda would say.”
Steven Knight, the ‘Peaky Blinders’ creator who also wrote the screenplays for movies ‘Dirty Pretty Things’, ‘Closed Circuit’, and ‘Locke’, is said to have replaced Lindelof and Britt-Gibson on the secret sci-fi project.
‘Ms. Marvel’ director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is still expected to direct the movie, but details about the plot are under wraps.
The reasons behind the departures of Lindelof and Britt-Gibson have not been disclosed, but the Lindelof had previously hinted at difficulties.
He told SlashFilm: “I will just say, that for reasons that I can’t get into on this Sunday morning, on this day, the degree of difficulty is extremely, extremely, extremely high. If (the film) can’t be great, it shouldn’t exist.
“That’s all I say, because I have the same association with (‘Star Wars’) as you do, which is, it’s the first movie I saw sitting in my dad’s lap, four years old, May of ’77.
“I think it’s possible that sometimes when you hold something in such high reference and esteem, you start to get in the kitchen and you just go, ‘Maybe I shouldn’t be cooking. Maybe I should be just eating.’ We’ll just leave it at that point.”

Jasmin Savoy Brown says horror movies tend to be ‘straight and white’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jasmin Savoy Brown says horror movies tend to be too “straight and white”.
The ‘Scream VI’ star says the genre “never interested” her before she got cast in the Wes Craven-created franchise – which made a star out of Neve Campbell and still features some of the original cast like Courteney Cox and David Arquette.
The 29-year-old actress told Elle magazine: “I was never interested in horror because it was just so straight and white. That’s just not interesting to me, aside from my one white woman show a year, which was ‘Big Little Lies’ and then ‘The White Lotus’.”
Jasmin admitted that her character’s “queerness” was what attracted her to the sixth instalment – which was directed by Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin – even though it was largely irrelevant to her storyline.
She said: “Mindy’s queerness has nothing to do with her character arc, and no one cares. It’s such a big deal, because it’s not a big deal at all. I love the idea that some people who would not normally interact with a character like myself are now meeting Mindy in that franchise and hopefully in a way that is pleasant for them.”
“It’s allowed me the space to not have to hide, even psychologically. There is something to be said for taking up space in your workplace as all that you are.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Yellowjackets’ star also revealed she loves how she can’t “hide” playing the teenage version of Taissa Turner – whose adult iteration is brought to life by Tawny Cypress – in the Showtime series about a high school soccer team attempting to survive after their plane crashed.
Jasmin said: “It’s allowed me the space to not have to hide, even psychologically. There is something to be said for taking up space in your workplace as all that you are.”

Joseph Quinn joins Gladiator sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Joseph Quinn has joined the cast of the ‘Gladiator’ sequel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the ‘Stranger Things’ actor will star as Roman Emperor Caracalla in the Sir Ridley Scott directed follow-up to the 2001 movie.
Specific details about the flick remain a closely-guarded secret but it has been confirmed that Paul Mescal will take on the role of Lucius – the son of Connie Nielsen’s character Lucilla and Joaquin Phoenix’s Commodus from the original film.
Barry Keoghan is set to portray a character named Emperor Gata, while Denzel Washington will also star in the sequel.
According to Deadline: “When the offer was first presented it was unknown whether he would actually do it; Washington is known for his great taste in projects and doesn’t sign up for anything. But after reading the script, sources close to the project said he was excited about the bad a** role Scott had written with him in mind.”
Meanwhile, Russell Crowe has ruled out returning as Maximus Decimus Meridius in the project – which is due to be released in 2024 – and explained that it won’t be a “direct sequel” to the Oscar-winning original.
He said: “Yeah we’ve had dinner and talked about it and all that stuff. So I know roughly how he’s shaping the story.
“But yeah, if you remember, there was a young kid who wanted to beat the Gladiator, which leads to the ‘My name is’ speech. So that young kid has grown up, and he’s now the Emperor.
“I don’t know what else happens at that point, so that’s the idea. So it’s not a remake. And it’s not a direct sequel. It’s not like the day after, you know, 30 years later or something.”

Chris Pratt warns of Guardians of the Galaxy heartbreak

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Pratt has warned that ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy. Vol 3’ starts with heartbreak.
The 43-year-old actor opened up about the eagerly awaited third instalment of the Marvel Comic film adaptation, explaining that Peter Quill starts the movie “heartbroken” and this makes his rag-tag gang “vulnerable to attack”
He told HeyUGuys.com: “At the start of the movie, we find Peter Quill heartbroken. He’s sad, is despondent. He’s drinking too much and he’s not able to be fully present to the needs of the Guardians of the Galaxy, which is one of the reasons they’re vulnerable to attack. And he spends the rest of the movie trying to make that up to help a friend.”
Chris – whose character is known for his great taste in music – listed off some of his favourite tracks featured in the new movie namechecking bands like The Flaming Lips, Florence + The Machine and Radiohead.
He said: “For me, my favourite track is probably ‘Do You Realise’ by the Flaming Lips. That’s really good.
“And I also like the Florence and the Machine song. I like ‘Creep’ by Radiohead. Yeah, there’s a lot of good songs, of course.”
Chris praised the cast of the James Gunn-helmed flick – which includes Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Bradley Cooper and Will Poulter – and called them “a family”.
Chris said: “Yes, I feel like they’re a family and I feel like I’m very lucky to have them as a family because often times you get thrown into a cast and that’s your family whether you like it or not. And with us, we have an immediate bond.”

Anthony Joshua set to star in new Louis Theroux series

OHMYGOSSIP — Anthony Joshua will reportedly feature in Louis Theroux’s upcoming new series.
The boxing legend is the latest star to be snapped up by the documentarian for his upcoming run of ‘Interviews’, with the 33-year-old heavyweight champion – following on from the likes of Dame Judi Dench and Stormzy – chatting to the 52-year-old broadcaster before his fight with Jermaine Franklin earlier this month.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “This documentary proves that Anthony is one of the few boxers who are just as big a star outside of the ring as they are inside it.
“Louis is a huge fan of boxing and AJ himself and he obviously loved following him around as he prepared to fight Jermaine. Though it did raise a few eyebrows when Louis was spotted ringside and at press conferences.
“They didn’t just talk sport, however, they touched on every aspect of his world from his upbringing to his private life, which includes raising his six-year-old son JJ.
“Anthony is likely to be the first big name to feature in the new series, with many others set to follow suit once they know he’s involved.”
Last year’s series proved to be a hit amongst fans after it featured interviews with musician Yungblud, comedian Katherine Ryan and adventurer Bear Grylls.
In the first run, Yungblud revealed his childhood was scarred by his parents’ “abusive” relationship, Rita Ora gushed about her “dream” wedding, and Stormzy admitted he wants to reconcile with his father, who previously left his family to start a new one.
He said: “It’s very right that I hold this pain because of what he’s done, with him not being there.
“He’s a flawed man. His mistake was a big one. But I know he’s really sorry and he’s reached out through my mother and my sisters.
“I am going to speak to him – I now have the power to say, ‘I forgive you.’ ”

Myeele Klass thinks reaction to iconic I’m A Celebrity shower scene is ‘hilarious’

OHMYGOSSIP — Myleene Klass finds the reaction to her iconic ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ shower scene “hilarious”.
The 44-year-old star – who made headlines with her white bikini when she went to the jungle in 2006 – is returning to the show as a latecomer in the current all-star spin off in South Africa and she has reflected on the steamy scenes 17 years later.
She laughed: “I find it hilarious the photos of me are out there forever. It was so innocent back then.
“But after doing the programme I saw the photo and I was like ‘my goodness, it does look glamorous, but it certainly didn’t feel like it – far from it!”
“There are worse things to be known for than being really clean! Since then, I have had three babies and I don’t look like that now.”
The singer – who will enter the came on tonight’s (26.04.23) episode alongside Andy Whyment and Georgia Toffolo – refused to reveal whether or not she has packed a bikini for her return to the ITV reality show – or what colour it will be if she does – but she is “proud” of her body.
She added: “I am really proud of how strong my body has been. It has been through lots of trials and tribulations since and part of the reason for doing this all-star version is I want to remind myself of that. It’s also good to remind yourself that you can do it.”
Myleene – who has daughters Ava, 15, and Hero, 12, with ex-husband Graham Quinn and son Apollo, two, with fiance Simon Motson – also reflected on her decision to return to ‘I’m A Celebrity’, insisting it is “a great honour” to be asked back.
She said: “When do you get to do an adventure like this? Doing the all-star series feels like an incredible thing to be part of. It is also a great honour.
“There have been hundreds of contestants to choose from and it feels like we are in the Avengers!
“My children are excited too. They weren’t around when I first went in and it is something we have always talked about. When we sat down together as a family to talk about it, they told me to do it because it looked like so much fun.”
I’m A Celebrity…South Africa continues tonight at 9pm and all this week on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player.
Viewers can also tune in on ITV1 and ITVX.

Ryan Gosling doubted ‘Ken-ergy’ before starring in Barbie

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Gosling doubted that he had the “Ken-ergy” to star in ‘Barbie’.
The 42-year-old actor will play Ken in the hotly-anticipated new movie and credits director Greta Gerwig and co-star Margot Robbie for “conjuring” the character out of him.
Speaking at Warner Bros.’ presentation at CinemaCon on Tuesday (25.04.23), Ryan said: “I have to be honest, I had up until this point, I only knew Ken from afar. I didn’t know Ken from within.
“If I’m being really honest, I doubted my Ken-ergy. I didn’t see it. Margot and Greta, I feel like they conjured this out of me somewhere.”
Ryan explained how it was a surreal experience to be playing Barbie’s male companion and joked that he was living his life before “one day, I was bleaching my hair and shaving my legs and wearing bespoke neon outfits and rollerblading down Venice Beach”.
The ‘La La Land’ star said: “It came on like a fever, like a Scarlet fever. Then I woke up one day and was like, ‘Why is there fake tanner on my sheets? Why I am wearing jackets without shirts? What just happened?'”
Ryan also praised the “brilliant” team behind the movie, which is set to be released in July.
He said: “To work with this group – they’re all brilliant and it was so exciting and then to be conjured in such a way was really special.”
Margot explained how there were other films shooting nearby in Los Angeles and cast and crew from other projects couldn’t resist coming to the ‘Barbie’ set.
She recalled: “You’ve never seen so many grown men find excuses to come to set. It was like a dopamine hit. You were instantly happy, and we felt that every day.”

Speaking on tour at the Corn Exchange, the 56-year-old star cracked as he told the crowd at ‘An Evening with Anton Du Beke’ on Monday (24.04.23): “I have been like this all day, a disaster. My old pal, Lord Len Goodman. We love you Len.

Andy Muschietti wants The Flash to be seen in cinemas

OHMYGOSSIP — Andy Muschietti was desperate for ‘The Flash’ to be released in cinemas.
The 49-year-old director has helmed the upcoming DC Extended Universe (DCEU) blockbuster and was willing to accept delays to the Warner Bros. film to make sure it could be seen on the big screen.
Asked in a joint interview with sister and producer Barbara Muschietti if they ever considered releasing the movie on a streaming service, the pair told Boxoffice Pro magazine: “The only way to release ‘The Flash’ is in theatres. Warner’s knew that, and we knew that.”
Barbara is grateful that the pandemic gave the crew more opportunity to develop the film and is now looking forward to the finished product hitting cinemas in June.
She said: “Of course, it feels great. We have worked solidly on ‘The Flash’ for almost four years. We are very grateful to WB for working with us on using all this time to make the movie better.
“The pandemic allowed us to have a longer development, and, on the other side of shooting, it allowed us to have the time to explore visual effects like never before.
“We all knew that ‘The Flash’ belongs in movie theatres, and we were happy to wait for the right time.”
Andy explained that the way a film is seen is a big part of his thinking when directing a movie.
The ‘It’ director said: “I want our movies to be enjoyed in a communal space, in a theatre where they are being played at the levels that we designed the movies to be at. Any format that gives a more spectacular experience is obviously a plus.
“The bottom line is to give the audience two-plus hours of an emotional ride, where they forget about the world outside and mostly about the smartphones in their pockets.”
