Claudia Winkleman thought The Traitors should end after first season

OHMYGOSSIP — Claudia Winkleman told ‘The Traitors’ bosses to end the show after the first season.
The 51-year-old presenter – who fronted the hit BBC series earlier this year and will be back for the upcoming second run – has offered some hints for contestants applying for the new episodes, but admitted she actually suggested the show could have simply been a one-off.
Asked what advice she’d give, she told RadioTimes.com: “A – Watch where you stand … no, I think we were incredibly lucky, we had an extraordinary cast…
“I did suggest to the lovely makers that we just leave it there, it’s quite nice just to walk away and be done. To which they replied, ‘Are you ill?’
“What I would want say to them is you think you know how to win, good luck with that.”
On Sunday night (14.05.23), ‘The Traitors’ won a BAFTA TV Award in the best reality and constructed factual category.
After the big win, she admitted: “Nobody’s more shocked than us.”
The show is based on a game of deception and bluffing, but Claudia joked she and the team are ready for any contestants who think they’ve learned from watching the first show.
She quipped: “I think they will be more knowing and we’ll be ready for that because I’m inherently evil.”
When the show returns for its new series, she will once again be joined by 22 contestants – with applications still open – all trying to win the £120,000 jackpot.
Meanwhile, there had been some concerns that the second season could follow the lead of the US version which featured ordinary people and celebrities.
However, it was previously revealed by RadioTimes.com that the UK edition would stay focused on ordinary people.

Eamonn Holmes ‘can’t move for long’ after suffering a fall

OHMYGOSSIP — Eamonn Holmes “can’t move for long” after suffering a fall at home.
The ex ‘This Morning’ presenter – who had spinal surgery – admitted that “every day is a struggle” after taking a tumble that has left him relying on a wheel due to hindered mobility.
The 63-year-old broadcaster told the Express.co.uk: “Every day is a struggle. Normally I don’t like doing nothing. Now? I can’t move for long and walk. I can do 30 or 40 steps and then I need a chair. My broken shoulder has caused no end of problems.
“I spend two hours a day in the gym. I’m not trying to lose 2lbs a week. It’s not about keeping fit. I am literally trying to regain the use of my legs and feet with different trainers and physios. It costs a fortune and I do understand I am lucky to be able to pay for it.
“My right foot won’t do what I tell it to, so I am literally doing brain exercises to open the nerves between the brain and my foot. Walking can be retaught and that is what I’m working on for now.”
Meanwhile, Eamonn – who is married to ‘Loose Women’ panelist Ruth Langsford – recently revealed he has been put in touch with a long-lost family member Down Under.
While hosting his GB News breakfast show, he said: “About a month ago I had to donate some DNA for a gene project, mine turned out to be very interesting.
“They tell me today that they are putting me in touch with a cousin I have in Australia which I didn’t know about.
“And also, a picture of my great, great grandmother…”
His co-anchor Isabel Webster asked: “You have never seen a picture of her before? Amazing!
“Actually, the guy who looked into your DNA, without giving too much away, said in his entire career he had only ever come across one case like Eamonn’s, which doesn’t surprise me.
“When they say one in a million…”
Eamonn said the reunion will be “interesting”.
He added: “He’s an alien, he’s superhuman, or something like that… but that will be interesting.
“Who I thought I was and where I thought I had come from is … apparently it’s all a bit of nonsense, so that’s interesting.”

Elle Fanning to star in Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown

OHMYGOSSIP — Elle Fanning has joined the cast of ‘A Complete Unknown’.
The 25-year-old star has landed a role in the Bob Dylan biopic alongside Timothee Chalamet and Monica Barbaro.
The film is being directed by James Mangold and will star the ‘Dune’ actor as Dylan with Elle portraying the ‘Blowin’ in the Wind’ singer’s early 1960s love interest, the university student and artist Sylvie Russo.
‘A Complete Unknown’ focuses on a transformative moment for Dylan as he shook up his folk music act by going electric at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965. The move proved divisive amongst his fans and the music scene but put Dylan on the path to recording some of his greatest songs and albums.
Monica will play folk singer and activist Joan Baez, who performed ‘Blowin’ in the Wind’ at the festival.
Mangold has written the script along with Jay Cocks and production on the film is set to start this summer in New York.
Dylan serves as an executive producer on the film alongside Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Andrew Rona.
Mangold said of the project: “It’s such an interesting true story about such an interesting moment in the American scene, different characters from Woody Guthrie to Bob Dylan, to Pete Seeger to Joan Baez, all have a role to play in this movie.”
The ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ director previously confirmed that Chalamet would be using his vocals in his portrayal of Dylan.
Quizzed on if Timothee would be singing, he told Collider: “Of course.”
Mangold’s Dylan biopic was first announced in 2020 with Chalamet attached to play the lead role. At the time, it was not known if the actor would perform the music legend’s songs but it was revealed that he had started taking guitar lessons in preparation for the part.

Hustle star Robert Glenister joins season 4 of detective drama Grace

OHMYGOSSIP — John Simm will be joined by his ‘Life on Mars’ co-star Philip Glenister’s brother Robert in ITV drama ‘Grace’.
Season four of ITV’s Brighton-based detective drama – which is based on the best-selling novels from renowned author Peter James – is currently being filmed.
John, 52, is returning as Superintendent Roy Grace alongside Richie Campbell (DI Glenn Branson) and ‘Hustle’ star Robert, 63, is joining the cast, too, though his role is not known at this time.
John said: “I’m so pleased to be back on set, filming series four of Grace.
“Four of Peter James’ Roy Grace novels are being adapted for this series and Grace fans will be pleased to know the stories are as dark as ever with lots of twists and turns.”
ITV Drama Commissioner, Huw Kennair Jones, said: “We’re thrilled to be making another series of Grace.
“John and the team continue to bring Peter’s brilliant characters and stories to life in such an exciting way. It’s also great to be working with Tall Story and Vaudeville Productions again as we head back to Brighton for four brand new cases.”
Author Peter James added: “As a writer, the chance to have such a phenomenal and collaborative cast and crew to bring my novels to life continues to be a dream come true.
“Audiences have so generously embraced the series with such enthusiasm and I cannot wait for Roy Grace fans, old and new, to see these four new episodes.”
The first film in the series, ‘Dead Man’s Time’, follows: “A vicious robbery at a secluded Brighton home, draws Grace and Branson into a puzzling enquiry when thousands of pounds worth of beautiful antiques are stolen from the house. As Grace digs deeper into this mysterious crime, he unearths a web of ancient grudges – a web which leads him down a dark, murderous trail through the world of Brighton antiques, in a race against the clock, to untangle who is at the heart of this robbery, and bring Gavin Daly the answers he has been desperately chasing for many years.”

John Cleese will launch Fawlty Towers reboot by killing off main character

OHMYGOSSIP — John Cleese will launch the ‘Fawlty Towers’ reboot with the death of Sybil Fawlty.
The 83-year-old actor, best known for playing Basil Fawlty in the 70s sitcom, is set to revive his much-loved comedy series from the halcyon days.
However, John has confirmed the shocking storyline involves killing off his onscreen wife, who was played by 90-year-old Prunella Scales.
He told The Sun: “The new one starts with Sybil’s death and Basil’s daughter getting a text message from her father saying, ‘Sybil did.’
“She texts back, ‘Sybil did what?’. Basil is about to deliver the eulogy and says what an absolutely wonderful woman Sybil was.
“And then the camera pans around and you see that behind his back he has his fingers crossed.”
‘Fawlty Towers’ ran for 12 episodes across two seasons from 1975 to 1979 on BBC Two. The series followed the exploits and misadventures of the short-fused and arrogant hotelier and his wife.
John is reviving the series alongside his daughter Camila Cleese – who is set to write and star alongside her father.
He added: “Sybil dies and Basil goes to see his daughter because it was all part of a naughty affair that he once had with a guest at the hotel.
“My daughter will probably be a hotelier who’s running this small hotel.
“It’s going to be a sort of slightly posh boutique hotel in the Caribbean with a multicultural staff because that’s the world of hotels.
“And there’ll be no one in except Basil.”
Cleese’s ex-wife Connie Both – who co-wrote the iconic sitcom with her then-husband and played chambermaid Polly Sherman – was surprised at the revival announcement, revealing she wasn’t consulted about the comeback.
She previously told The Times: “I would have appreciated learning about the project from John rather than reading about it in the papers.”

Patrick Grant: The Great British Sewing Bee has stopped local haberdasheries going bust

OHMYGOSSIP — Patrick Grant says ‘The Great British Sewing Bee’ has stopped local haberdasheries going bust.
The Scottish fashion designer, 51, a judge on the BBC’s sewing battle reality show, credits the series for giving a platform to local businesses on the verge of closing down.
He told Radio Times: “I had a letter from a haberdashery in Essex. They were on the verge of going out of business but now they’ve rented bigger premises.”
Season nine of the arts and craft show was recently announced, and will see a new set of 12 amateur sewists compete.
Each week, the wannabee dressmakers will take part in three sewing challenges to test their technical and creative skills and create a number of garments ranging from affordable apparel to fancy high fashion.
On ‘The Great British Sewing Bee’ Instagram account, a snap of Sara Pascoe, Patrick and Esme Young was captioned: “The Bee is back. Join @Sara.Pascoe, @PatrickGrantism, @Miss_Esme_Young and a haberdashery full of new sewers. Wednesday 24th May. 9pm. BBC One. #SewingBee.”
Presenter Sara is buzzing to be back presenting her second series, after taking over from Joe Lycett.
She told the Metro: “It’s a really, really fun show to film. The production company are very, very lovely people.
“Some of those shows can be quite hard for their competitors. There are tears and recriminations! But Sewing Bee is really, really respectful.”
Series nine kicks off on BBC One on 24 May at 9pm.

Suranne Jones: My mental health is back on track

OHMYGOSSIP — Suranne Jones’s mental health has bounced back.
The 44-year-old actress took a tactical break from performing after battling personal issues that left her at rock bottom.
In 2018, Suranne pulled out from the West End production of ‘Frozen’ before the end of its run due to a bout of illness.
It wasn’t until a year later that the former ‘Coronation Street’ star revealed the heartbreaking details of her mother’s death – who died in 2016 following a lengthy battle with Vascular Dementia.
Reflecting on the dark days, Suranne shared that she’s in a good place now and doesn’t ever want to feel that way again.
She told Radio Times: “Something seismic happened when I was doing Frozen and I never want it to happen again. Life is different for me now.
“I’ve worked my way through lots of issues around grief and trauma. I know when to slow down. When to calm down. I know I can’t control things but I have things in place.”
Suranne is set to star in the new three-part ITV drama ‘Maryland’ alongside Eve Best ( Rosaline), which follows the story of two sisters who reconnect following their mother’s death.
The former ‘Doctor Foster’ actress explained how her personal experiences affected the ‘Maryland’ storyline.
She said: “I think it’s no secret that I’ve lost both my parents. So obviously, I know grief.
“And that was a huge part of our conversations, was ‘What that is to someone’. It’s either going to come or people have experienced it, and I think what this show does is it doesn’t deal with it quickly, it deals with it over three episodes.
“And there was a very clear marking of when you [Anne-Marie O’Connor, writer] were setting out what your episodes wanted to be, it’s the stages of grief that we stay with. But there’s humour in it and it’s not an easy ride. It’s not a straightforward ride and you don’t get a blueprint of how you’re going to feel.
“So I think knowing sickness, knowing illness, knowing grief, knowing death was a huge part of it. And I think we’re both really proud of how that turned out.”

I’m A Celebrity South Africa winner to be decided by ‘supercharged’ eating trial

OHMYGOSSIP — The final two ‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’ stars will face an horrific eating trial to see who will win the series.
The ITV1 show will crown the first ever I’m A Celebrity Legend on Friday night (12.05.23), but not before the campmates are whittled down to a final two, who will go head-to-head in a supercharged eating trial with a difference.
Myleene Klass, Fatima Whitbread, Phil Tufnell, and Jordan Banjo are currently in the final four, but two will go before the last trial of the series.
Former campmates will return to watch and cheer on the pair, who will be shown what they could be eating, and they must both suggest the number of each item they think they can chow down on in five minutes.
The campmate who picks the highest number must then try to eat that many in the time given.
If they succeed, they will win a point, but if they fail then their opponent gets a point.
If they both pick the same number, it’s a straight race.
It will be the best of nine dishes, with a menu including fermented eggs and mice tails.
Ant says: “If you do this, you deserve to be crowned the first ever Legend of I’m A Celeb.”
Beforehand, the four remaining stars will be whittled down to three, after former campmates returned to decide which star should exit the competition.
The remaining trio will then face a trial that requires them to count to six minutes, while enduring being covered in critters.
The three celebrities will sit in a contraption that has their feet in boxes, their hands in hell holes and their heads in helmets.
Speaking about the trial, Ant advises the trio: “That’s the only way you can get through this trial … just focus.”
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’ final is at 9pm on Friday on ITV1 and ITVX, and on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player in Ireland.

Phillip Schofield says recent weeks ‘haven’t been easy’ for him and his ‘rock’ Holly Willoughby

OHMYGOSSIP — Phillip Schofield has admitted the last few weeks “haven’t been easy” for him and Holly Willoughby – but insisted she is his “rock”.
The ‘This Morning’ presenter has said he and his co-host of 14 years are “the best of friends” and he has praised her “incredible support”, but Phillip admitted the pair have found it tough of late.
He told The Sun newspaper: “As I have said before, Holly is my rock.
“We’re the best of friends – as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone.
“Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I’ve been there for her.
“The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us.”
Phillip’s comments come after he took three weeks off the show in March when his brother Timothy Schofield was on trial for child sex offences.
Timothy stood trial accused of 11 sexual offences involving a child between October 2016 and October 2019, and he was found guilty on all counts in April.
Phillip admitted the support of Holly, who was recently struck down with shingles, “meant the world” to him throughout the ordeal.
He added: “My family went through a real ordeal.
“And Holly’s support throughout meant the world to me, as did the support of my bosses at ITV, my editor Martin Frizell and the whole This Morning family, including our amazing viewers.
“And of course, Holly has herself been ill with shingles.”
After Timothy was found guilty, Phillip said in a statement released by his lawyer: “My overwhelming concern is and has always been for the wellbeing of the victim and his family. I hope that their privacy will now be respected.
“If any crime had ever been confessed to me by my brother, I would have acted immediately to protect the victim and their family.
“These are despicable crimes, and I welcome the guilty verdicts. As far as I am concerned, I no longer have a brother.”
Following the guilty verdict, Phillip and Holly were then on their usual Easter break from ‘This Morning’, and he returned the host the show alongside Rochelle Humes – because Holly was off with shingles – on April 17th.
While he didn’t directly address the scandal, he thanked viewers for their support.
He said on the show: “I’d just like to say, it is really lovely to be back.
“I have missed the show and everyone here and also to you. I wanted to say thank you for your kind messages and support which were really appreciated.
“Thank you very much indeed. On with the show… Shall we?”
Phillip and Holly were replaced by the likes of Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary as well as Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle during their time off.

Carol Vorderman ‘didn’t like’ Janice Dickinson on I’m A Celebrity South Africa

OHMYGOSSIP — Carol Vorderman “didn’t like” Janice Dickinson on ‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’.
The former ‘Countdown’ star was not a fan of the ex-‘America’s Next Top Model’ judge and claimed the 68-year-old supermodel used to “basically screech all day” in the camp.
The 62-year-old presenter told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I got on well with everyone except for Janice. I didn’t like Janice. She would sit on a bed and just basically screech all day and I don’t like that.
“Everyone was very kind to her in the first few days and was like, ‘Come on Janice tell us a story’. I couldn’t have been more encouraging but then she just started playing the reality TV game, which is not my scene at all. So she would just sit there and sound like a bloody seagull.
“She wasn’t doing her jobs either. She was just sitting in a bed and all of that built up over days and days.
“I thought, well, she’s gonna just sit there and get through to the final by doing nothing. You know, it just wasn’t right. So I did have a rant in the Bush Telegraph.”
Carol did get on with the “wonderful” ex ‘Coronation Street’ star Helen Flanagan, 32 – who she is still in contact with daily – and former Olympic javelin thrower Fatima Whitbread, 62.
She said: “She’s wonderful, Helen. I love her. Every single moment you see Helen on screen is exactly how she is. Kind, daft as a brush and lovable is how I would describe her.
“She is cheeky, mischievous and kind. If I lived up North, we’d be hanging out all the time. We text every day, but it’s just like, I love Helen, she is my little meerkat.
“I call her that because Fatima and I would always be up early in the morning. I would go out through the tunnel and drag my mat from my bed to about an hour of stretching, I’m trying to learn to do the splits. I need a new party trick! So I’m learning to do the splits out there.
“And Fatima’s doing weights, you know, with stones and stuff. So we would always have that and then when the sun came up properly, we would go back in and do the cooking and whatever. And Helen’s bed was near the fire so it’s just this rustle of a sleeping bag and then his little head poking out and she would say ‘I love you’ and then snuggle back down again.
“That’s what she’s in my phone as – Helen Meerkat Angel.”
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’ final is at 9pm on Friday (12.05.23) on ITV1 and ITVX, and on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player in Ireland.

The Apprentice’s Thomas Skinner cast in movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Thomas Skinner has been cast in a film.
The former ‘Apprentice’ star has swapped Lord Sugar’s boardroom to appear as the gangster and “absolute governor” Houdini in a new flick ‘Bermondsey Tales: Fall of the Roman Empire’ – which is written by Ray Burdis and directed by Michael Head – alongside John Hannah, Adam Deacon, and ex ‘EastEnders’ star Maisie Smith.
The 32-year-old star told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “My character Houdini is the absolute governor and hopefully, I do him justice. Bosh.”
Thomas – who appeared as an extra in Burdis and Head’s recent movie, ‘Miss The Kiss’, that boasted a top billing of Patsy Kensit and Sadie Frost – was fired on the show by Lord Sugar in 2019.
He has gone on to sign a book deal with HarperCollins and become a breakout reality TV star, but last month revealed he is going to embark on a whole other adventure – being a parent to identical twin daughters.

Kerry Katona and Martin Roberts ‘tasked with drinking own urine on The Big Celebrity Detox’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kerry Katona and Martin Roberts are to be tasked with drinking their own urine on ‘The Big Celebrity Detox’.
The ex-Atomic Kitten star, 42, and the ‘Homes Under the Hammer’ host, 59, were among some of the stars horrified at the thought of downing their wee on the E4 series – which begins on 15 May – with the show’s narrator even claiming it “goes against medical advice”.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “This will go down as one of the most nauseating scenes ever on TV. It’s horrendous, an uncomfortable moment for the celebs, but also for viewers. Kerry was particularly traumatised.”
Princess Olga Romanoff – who is the late Queen Elizabeth II’s cousin and is also appearing on the show – didn’t think it as “bad” as she thought it would be when she gave it a go.
The 73-year-old aristocrat told the publication: “It wasn’t as bad as I thought. I drink a lot of water, so it was very pale and didn’t have an odour or a particular taste.”
Recently, Kerry revealed that she had been diagnosed with arthritis so she has had to take a break from her OnlyFans content.
Writing in her OK! Magazine column, she said: “I’ve had a rare couple of days off work this week, but I’ve been bed bound. I’m in agony with my back and my hips – I have arthritis in my hips.
“I’ve suffered with the pain for a long time, but it’s been worse over the past few days. It’s like my body knows I have time off work so it shuts down.
“I think it’s because I’m always on the go and running off adrenaline. But it’s been nice to have a bit of a break, despite the pain.”
