Paul Whitehouse hopes to make Only Fools and Horses TV show

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Only Fools and Horses’ stage show could be turned into a TV show.
The West End production – which is based on the iconic comedy series – has been a huge hit with fans, and Paul Whitehouse believes it could be transformed into a TV show.
Paul, 65 – who played Grandad and Uncle Albert in the production – told The Sun newspaper: “We’d love to do a TV version of the stage show and we think it would work well.
“Our story involves both Granddad and Uncle Albert, Del Boy meeting Raquel and Rodney and Cassandra getting married so we basically condense the seven television series into two hours and ten minutes.”
Paul thinks it would be “lovely” to see the show on a TV screen.
He said: “While we can’t compete with the original show, you do get the whole story of ‘Only Fools And Horses’. It would be lovely to see our version adapted for television.”
Meanwhile, Nicholas Lyndhurst previously dismissed the ides of reviving the iconic comedy.
The 62-year-old actor – who played the part of Rodney Trotter – couldn’t imagine making the show without ‘Only Fools and Horses’ writer John Sullivan, who died in 2011, aged 64.
Nicholas told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “We can’t do any more. John was the driving force.
“We’ve also lost quite a few of the cast members now, [so] I don’t think I could do it. I certainly couldn’t do it without John.
“We can’t. At the risk of depressing everyone, I think the last two times I’ve seen David Jason [was] at funerals. We did make a pact to get out for a drink at some stage without planting somebody. We are still close.”

The 52-year-old actress feels proud of her figure and she feels more confident than ever before.
She told The Sun newspaper: “I feel more confident in my body than ever and I’m more than happy to show it off.
“Of course, like everyone, there are days where I feel rubbish and there’s no way I’d be taking pics in my underwear.
“Nobody looks or feels like that all the time.
“But on days where I feel great, why not take a pic and post it on the internet? If I look good, I’m happy for everyone to see it.”
The brunette beauty plays a middle-aged, sex-mad mum in the comedy-drama ‘The Effects of Lying’.
Laila relished the role and she didn’t have any qualms about wearing revealing outfits for the show.

“She is absolutely nuts but I love that she’s not afraid to get what she wants.
“Wearing her revealing clothes didn’t worry me, it made me feel great. I had such fun filming it.”
Laila enjoyed success as a model before she turned her focus to acting, and she’s always been encouraged to embrace her curves.
The former ‘Holby City’ star said: “I come from a culture that celebrates the bigger woman and, growing up, my parents were really determined that I wouldn’t become obsessed with my weight.
“I had four sisters and none of us were allowed a mirror in our bedrooms.
“We had to share one mirror in the bathroom, which meant it was quite difficult for us to get make-up on. “But my mum really didn’t want us to grow up worrying about our weight or what we looked like.”

Time expands when I film my stunts, Tom Cruise shares his unique experience on Mission: Impossible

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Cruise says “time expands” when he shoots his daredevil movie stunts.
The 60-year-old actor is famous for filming as many of his own action sequences as possible, no matter what the risk, and his new blockbuster ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’ sees him continue that tradition, with him even having a knife fight on top of a speeding train in one sequence.
On the first day of shooting on the action sequel, Cruise rode a motorcycle off a Norwegian mountain before jumping with a parachute to the ground, a scene that took eight takes to get the perfect shot.
The Hollywood legend admits that when the adrenaline starts flowing through his body during the stunts time, for him, simultaneously becomes both “short and long”.
Speaking to media at the UK premier of ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’ in London on Thursday night (22.06.23), he said: “When I train there’s so much going on and time expands. When I’m dropping, that six seconds feels short and long.”
It is Cruise’s seventh outing as IMF agent Ethan Hunt and much of the movie was filmed in the UK.
The ‘Top Gun’ star admits he has many ideas for future stunts in the franchise which he wants to film in London.
He said: “I look at buildings here and I think I could climb that building! Where do I start!
“I’ve always wanted to travel the world and work with different cultures and celebrate them and ‘Mission: Impossible’ really allows that. It’s a wonderful privilege to be able to do it.”
During the premiere, Cruise stopped to sign autographs and take selfies for fans who had waited for hours to share a moment with their idol.
He was joined on the red carpet by his co-stars Pom Klementieff, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson and Cary Elwes.

The film was directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who also worked with Cruise on the box office hit Top Gun: Maverick.

Famous faces including Hayley Atwell, Rebecca Ferguson and Vanessa Kirby will also star in the film.

The cast also includes Shea Whigham, Pom Klementieff, Rob Delaney, Cary Elwes, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss, Charles Parnell, Greg Tarzan Davis and Frederick Schmidt.

The second part of the film is expected to arrive next year as both parts were pushed back due to the Covid pandemic.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is due for UK release on July 10.

Swamp Thing will be a ‘Gothic horror movie’ influenced by Frankenstein, says director James Mangold

OHMYGOSSIP — The new ‘Swamp Thing’ film will be a “Gothic horror movie” inspired by ‘Frankenstein’, according to director James Mangold.
The ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ filmmaker is set to helm the upcoming movie which is part of the new DC Universe and he wants to explore what it means to be a man-turned-monster and Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel and the subsequent film versions of ‘Frankenstein’ will be an influence.
Speaking to Variety, Mangold spilled: “While I’m sure DC views ‘Swamp Thing’ as a franchise, I would be viewing it as a very simple, clean, Gothic horror movie about this man/monster.
“I am interested in making something that works from beginning to end — to curtain. Otherwise, I’m working on the world’s most expensive television show.
“I’ve been toying for years with the idea of making a kind of ‘Frankenstein’ movie.”
In the DC comic book series, scientist Alec Holland and his wife Linda invent a bio-restorative formula that can solve any nations’ food shortage problems but after he is a victim in a bomb attack on his laboratory, Alec, who is in flames, runs to a nearby swamp to douse the fire and the formula combined with the plant life creates a new being made from vegetation with Alec’s memories known as Swamp Thing.
James Gunn and Peter Safran confirmed that ‘Swamp Thing’ would be part of the first 10 films and TV shows within their rebooted DC Universe, with Chapter 1 of the DCU being named ‘Gods and Monsters’.
‘Swamp Thing’ was created by the writer Len Wein and horror artist Bernie Wrightson and made his first appearance in comic book pages in 1971.
He first appeared on the big screen in 1982 flick ‘Swamp Thing’, which was directed by horror legend Wes Craven. The movie was a success on home video rental and cable and spawned a sequel, Jim Wynorski’s 1989 follow-up ‘The Return of Swamp Thing’.
The character also headlined a short-lived TV series in 2019.

Alison Hammond stars in Stormzy’s Toxic Trait music video

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Hammond stars in Stormzy’s new music video.
The 48-year-old TV presenter plays a therapist in the video for the single ‘Toxic Trait’, which also features the rapper Fredo.
In the video, Alison says to Fredo: “I want you to tell me what your toxic traits are…”
He replies: “Listen, I’ve just go too many. I don’t even know where to start.”
Alison then tells him: “Well, just start at the beginning.”
Fredo says: “I just feel like I don’t make things easy on myself, to be honest. Whether that’s big things like the company I keep or small things like … not using toenail clippers.”
Alison – who first shot to fame on ‘Big Brother’ – is then seen writing notes in her notebook, as she listens to the rap star.
Meanwhile, an insider recently revealed that Alison is set to be offered a “golden handcuffs” deal by ITV.
The broadcaster is determined to ward off competition for her services by offering her a lucrative new deal.
The source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “ITV bosses want to cut a new deal with Alison. They are seriously worried about Holly [Willoughby] talking to the BBC and fear she could be next.”
Alison will co-host ‘The Great British Bake Off’ with Noel Fielding later this year on Channel 4 – but ITV don’t want her getting involved with entertainment programmes on other channels.
The source added: “While ‘Bake Off’ is factual, ITV don’t want to see Alison working on entertainment formats with any other channel.
“They want to lock her in, and there has even been talk of a golden handcuffs deal solely for entertainment shows with ITV.
“That kind of deal could see her land a salary worth as much as £500,000 a year – but there currently no plans in place for that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Josie Gibson reportedly pocketed £1,700 at Royal Ascot on Wednesday (21.06.23).
The 38-year-old TV star put a wager on Jimi Hendrix to win the Royal Hunt Cup at the races, and Josie managed to walk away with a big profit after making her bet.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Everyone told her she was mad to do it but she fancied a flutter. She didn’t put a lot on, just a throwaway amount and ended up winning £1700.”
The TV star was also joined at Ascot by some of her showbiz pals, including Amanda Holden, Lorraine Kelly and Charlene White.
And Josie was seen fist pumping the air and jumping for joy when her horse passed the finishing post in first place.
Meanwhile, Josie recently described her TV career as a “fluke”.
The ‘This Morning’ co-host shot to stardom on ‘Big Brother’ 13 years ago – but Josie admits she “wasn’t very good at the start” of her presenting career.
She told OK! magazine: “My career is a complete fluke. I didn’t think I was even going to go on ‘Big Brother’, and then when I got out, I thought that I’d quite like to do some presenting.
“I wasn’t very good at the start, because I couldn’t see the autocue, but then I had my eyes lasered, and ‘This Morning’ gave me a chance.
“Fair play to the show – they even stuck with me after I had a panic attack in the studio because I was so nervous. But they really nurtured me and they’ve been brilliant to me.
“I cannot believe I work on ‘This Morning’. I actually cannot get over it. If someone had told me I’d present one of the biggest daytime TV shows I would have laughed in their face. I feel so grateful and honoured.”

Stacey Dooley is an amazing role model, says Kevin Clifton

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Clifton believes Stacey Dooley is “an amazing role model” for their daughter.
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star thinks the 36-year-old TV star has set a great example for their five-month-old daughter Minnie.
The 40-year-old dancer told Metro.co.uk: “First of all, just having Stacey as her mum – I think Stacey is an amazing role model for our little girl and I hope that she’s just like Stacey as she grows up.”
Kevin learned about other inspirational women in his family while filming ‘Who Do You Think You Are’, the BBC celebrity genealogy series.
The dancer is now keen for his daughter to learn about their family history.
He explained: “Having these role models for Minnie is an amazing thing to have. I can’t wait for her to grow up a little bit and hear the stories herself. It was generations of men not acting that great and the women having to put up with it, but just showing such toughness and resilience.
“They were really amazing women and I’m glad that we got to – selfishly – that I got to find out about it all, but also that we got to tell the story of it, so that their stories got told, so it all doesn’t just die with the men that were in control of the situation.”
Kevin believes that his female ancestors have set a great example that his daughter can follow in future years.
The dancer – who started dating Stacey in 2019 – said: “We can point to these women and go, ‘Look what they had to endure. Look how they got through it.'”

Extraction 2 director praises Chris Hemsworth for taking Jackie Chan approach to action movies

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Hargrave thinks Chris Hemsworth has the same action movie outlook as Jackie Chan.
The ‘Extraction 2’ filmmaker – who has directed the new Netflix movie after helming the original 2020 blockbuster – has heaped praise on Hemsworth’s performance as mercenary Tyler Rake because he isn’t afraid to look vulnerable in fight scenes.
He told Collider: “I think that’s one thing that makes Tyler Rake so great, and a lot of that, for me, comes from loving Jackie Chan movies so much growing up.
“And what I think he did that separated him from the Bruce Lee’s and Jet Li’s is, he wasn’t the martial arts expert.
“The viewing pleasure was kind of voyeuristic, you’re living out your fantasies of being untouchable, and you were like, ‘How is he going to dismantle these people?’
“Like Steven Seagal, he doesn’t get touched. How is he going to dismantle all these people? And that’s part of the fun.
“What made Jackie Chan so exciting was he always put people who, whether they were actually in real life or not, better fighters around him, and he would have his character get beaten up.”
Hargrave pointed out that this means future battles are “much more dramatically interesting” because there’s no guarantee he’ll emerge unscathed.
He added: “So, Chris is great in that, when we talked about it, he was very much a fan of being – I mean in this movie, he borders on being superhero status because he does some pretty incredible things – however, we wanted to make sure that he wasn’t just floating through it and not getting injured.
“We wanted him to make sacrifices because the greater the struggle, the more glorious the triumph. So we wanted to make him earn it.
“And in the courtyard, when he gets smacked in the back of the head and he kind of just falls down, we’re kind of like, ‘Oh no, is he gonna make it?’ ”
The director likes working someone who is willing to put any “ego” aside for the good of the story.
He said: “Anyway, I think it’s really refreshing working with an actor who is, is willing to, for the character, he separates his ego from the character that he’s playing and is saying, like, ‘That’s not me. The best thing for this movie and this character is to take punishment so that when I prevail, everyone feels that victory that much more.’ ”

Henry Cavill lost out on Bond role to Daniel Craig because he looked too young

OHMYGOSSIP — Henry Cavill would have been cast as James Bond if Daniel Craig hadn’t auditioned.
‘Casino Royale’ director Martin Campbell revealed the audition process for the 2006 movie, which ultimately introduced Craig as suave spy Bond, revealing that Cavill almost got the part but he just looked “a little young”.
He told The Express: “He looked great in the audition. His acting was tremendous. And look, if Daniel didn’t exist Henry would have made an excellent Bond. He looked terrific, he was in great physical shape … very handsome, very chiseled. He just looked a little young at that time back then.”
And Campbell thinks Cavill, 40, is now at the right age to take over the role.
He said: “By the time Daniel got to [‘No Time to Die’] really he was at an age where one more would have been too old for him. Henry’s 40, so by the time he’s done the third one he’s going to be 50 and anything beyond that’s two, three years per Bond. He’s in good shape Henry, he’s a good guy.”
And Henry previously insisted he is still interested in the role.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: ““I think it would be very exciting to have a conversation with the producers. In an ideal world, I’d never have to turn anything down. Nothing is off the table.”

Ross Kemp almost filmed Titan doc

OHMYGOSSIP — Ross Kemp pulled out of plans to film on doomed submersible Titan amid safety fears.
The 58-year-old documentary maker almost made a TV show about diving down to the Titanic on an OceanGate submersible but his production company pulled the plug, after it did not pass their stringent safety checks.
Ross’ agent, InterTalent boss Professor Jonathan Shalit, told The Sun newspaper: “Their team checked out this OceanGate submersible and pulled out of using it, as it was simply not considered safe or fit for purpose.
“They found other sub dives which have been safe and successful, but by that point Ross was so busy with all his TV shows that he was unable to commit the time.
“I am just relieved not to have had my post note in history as the agent who killed Ross Kemp.”
A source added: “Ross had to get a deep sea diving certificate so he could dive at up to 40 metres, which requires a lot of teaching and learning.
“But when provisional enquiries were made with OceanGate, the question was asked: ‘How much training does he need to go down in the submersible to the Titanic?’ And the answer was: ‘None at all’.
“The company was looked at initially because they were a well-known organisation, but after Atlantic started asking questions, any plans quickly unravelled.”
The Titan submersible hit the headlines this week when it went missing with five passengers on board, during a mission to view the Titanic.
It was later revealed that the five men aboard the mini-sub died instantly when it suffered a “catastrophic” implosion.
They were named as billionaire Hamish Harding, 55, businessman Shahzada Dawood, 48, and his son Suleman, 19, OceanGate chief Stockton Rush, 61, and Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet, 77.

Kevin Clifton taking career break to focus on fatherhood

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Clifton says he has quit all work to focus on caring for his daughter Minnie.
The 40-year-old professional dancer and his girlfriend, TV presenter Stacey Dooley, 36, welcomed their first child together in January and Kevin is taking a break in order to be a stay at home dad.
He told Digital Spy: “It went ‘Singin’ in the Rain’, ‘Rock of Ages’, ‘The War of the Worlds’, ‘Burn the Floor’, then I did ‘The Games’ on ITV, ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ and then back to ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ on tour. Then I started rehearsals for ‘Strictly Ballroom’ the day after I finished ‘Singin’ in the Rain’.
“By the time I finish in mid-July it will have been a 10-month tour of ‘Strictly Ballroom’. So, since we came out of Covid it’s just been back-to-back non-stop.
“So, for the rest of this year I’ve decided I’m going to take a break from all performing work just to be a dad. I just don’t want to miss any of Minnie. So, yeah, my plan is to take a break as soon as this contract finishes.”
And, Kevin recently revealed he and Stacey want to expand their family.
He told OK!: “Stacey’s already talking about Minnie needing a brother or a sister. I can see us having more kids if we’re lucky enough and it happens for us, but Minnie is a handful as it is at the moment!
“It’s the idea of them being a little gang and having each other’s backs. Me and my sister are a little gang and have each other’s backs – that’s what we’d like for Minnie.”
