Strictly star Janette Manrara ‘advised’ to have a C-section when she gives birth

OHMYGOSSIP — Janette Manrara “loves” being pregnant.
The 39-year-old dancer is currently expecting her first child with fellow ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Aljaž Škorjanec, 33, and is “counting her blessings” because she knows not every woman takes to pregnancy in the way she has but revealed that she has been advised to give birth via caesarean section because of her hips.
She told HELLO! Magazine: “I am really enjoying being pregnant. I love having a bump and watching my body change and grow. I have felt really good the whole time and I count my blessings for that, because I know it’s not the case for every woman. It looks like we have a bigger than average size baby, but I’m not an average size human and because of the width of my hips it’s advised that I get a C-section.”
However, Janette – who has chosen not to reveal the gender of her baby just yet – went on to add that she feels “really relaxed” about the whole process and praised her husband for his support throughout the pregnancy.
“I feel really relaxed about it all. You really can’t plan everything because there are so many variables and I’m kind of open to all the different options and scenarios. So, I’m not trying to lock in a certain date or procedure, because you just never really know how it’s going to happen until the baby comes. And I think having that kind of openness in my thoughts has actually kept me quite calm.”
“Because we’re both dancers and music is such a part of what we do, I want the baby to be born into that space of music and happiness. Aljaž has been such a great partner. He doesn’t let me lift a finger and he’s been cooking and cleaning and helping get everything ready. He’s been amazing.”

Susan Cookson: Emmerdale helped me cope after the death of my husband

OHMYGOSSIP — Susan Cookson considered training to be a nurse before she was cast in ‘Emmerdale’.
The 58-year-old actress had been married to Malcolm for more than 20 years when he died in 2016 after being diagnosed with a brain tumour but admitted to being “at a bit of a crossroads” when he died and had considered changing careers until she was actually cast as nurse Wendy Posner on the ITV1 soap in 2019.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I was at a bit of a crossroads in my life through one thing and another and I decided that I wanted a more regular job.
“I started to think about changing careers and going into nursing. My husband, who is sadly no longer with us, had been very poorly and I’d nursed him. And I’d played a lot of doctors and nurses over the years, so it was a career I knew a bit about.
“I was in my car, about 10 minutes away from this meeting, when my phone went. It was Emmerdale producer Jane Hudson. I worked with her many moons ago on ‘Casualty’, but I’d not spoken to her for years.
“She said to me: ‘Look, I’m going to cut to the chase, we’ve got a new character and there’s nobody I’d rather play it than you. I know you’d be perfect for it. Do you want to come and live in the village with us? Do you want to have a think about it?’
“And I said: ‘No, I don’t need to, the answer is yes!’ And then she added: ‘Oh, and by the way, she’s a nurse…’”
The soap star – who has Ruairi, 27, and Dan, 21, with her husband – also confessed that she wanted “more confidence” and a “long-term job” so was pleased as punch to be involved in the long-running serial set in the fictional Yorkshire Dales village.
She said: “I want more confidence and I want a long-term job on ‘Emmerdale’, I want it, I need it and I know I’d be happy there’ out loud every morning and night in her bedroom for two weeks.
“I didn’t discuss it with anybody, not even my sisters or my sons or my agent, so it was incredibly weird when Emmerdale called me out of the blue.
“Maybe it was just a coincidence, but I think there is more to life than we know and that things aren’t necessarily black and white, so maybe it did work.”

‘She’s an incredible woman!’ Sara Davies gives update on cancer-stricken Strictly star Amy Dowden

OHMYGOSSIP — Sara Davies says Amy Dowden is in “really good spirits” despite her cancer diagnosis.
The 39-year-old businesswoman has been good friends with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Amy – who was diagnosed with grade three breast cancer in May – since she competed on the BBC Latin and ballroom competition in 2021 and after catching up with her in person, the ‘Dragons’ Den’ star has explained that she still has a “zest” for life amid her illness.
Speaking on ITV1’s ‘Lorraine’, she said: “She was up last weekend and I’ve spoken to her on the phone, I speak to her every few days but I needed to see her in person to know that she was okay. She wanted to show me her boob, she wanted me to check it out, she’s like ‘What do you think of my new boob?!’
“But she is in really good spirits and to be in great spirits to fight it is the most important thing. She feels full of love. She’s still got such a zest for life, she’s an incredible woman and it was a year to the day yesterday that she got married. ”

Thank you for being by my side, spoiling me, being Mr positive when I’m not and choosing to love me!”

Dennis Wise signs his Love Island star daughter to Gemma Owen’s talent agency

OHMYGOSSIP — Dennis Wise has signed his ‘Love Island’ star daughter Amber up to the same talent agency as Gemma Owen.
The former England footballer, 56, has prepared his 19-year-old graphic design student daughter for stardom after her stint on the ITV2 dating competition by helping her “sign up” for the same talent management agency as last year’s contestant, 20, who is the daughter of ex Liverpool player Michael Owen, 43, another footballing legend.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Amber may only be 19, but she’s got her head screwed on — so Dennis and her mum Claire were fully supportive of her joining the show.
“But they know what fame can be like so have helped Amber sign up with Off Limits to look after her career. They know she’ll be in good hands as the agency’s done such a brilliant job with Gemma.
“They helped her secure massive brand deals but, just as importantly, helped to look after the rumour mill surrounding her split with Love Island boyfriend Luca.”
Amber – who has footballer brother Harry, 23, who plays for the New York Red Bulls II – has zoomed in on Tyrique Hyde, 24, while Mitchel Taylor, 26, has got his eye on her after declaring herself “very independent” and not requiring a boyfriend.
She said before her Casa Amor adventure: “I’m very independent. I’ve never needed a guy, now it’s more that I want one. I’m creative, very flirty.”
Gemma has accrued a number of brand deals after the show, such as becoming a brand ambassador for the online fashion retailer PrettyLittleThing and a rumoured reality show with her famous family but has opened up about the “stigma” surrounding starting a career on the dating TV series.
She told the Times newspaper: “There can be a stigma when you do a show like ‘Love Island’.
“But there are amazing opportunities, too if you can just be yourself. I wanted to do it, but only if I could just be me: plain-spoken and real. I am good at not showing my feelings if I have to.”

Alicia Vikander wants roles that ‘scare’ her

OHMYGOSSIP — Alicia Vikander likes to play daunting roles.
The 34-year-old star is keen to take parts that “scare” her and thinks that the sci-fi film ‘The Assessment’ fits that bill perfectly.
Speaking at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in the Czech Republic, Alicia said: “It’s a pretty wild part. Even the producer says, like, ‘What are you going to do?’ And I said, ‘I don’t know yet.’ Which gives you a little insight.
“I’ve said a lot of times that I like to do parts that kind of scare me. I feel like I have not gone there before.”
The picture marks the feature debut for director Fleur Fortune but Alicia was impressed when she delved into the filmmaker’s previous work – which includes videos for music stars such as Drake and Travis Scott.
The ‘Firebrand’ actress explained: “For Fleur it’s her first feature. But I got the script and I kind of knew. It was one of those things where I turned the page, then I met Fleur for the first Zoom.
“I really had done like deep research. And she’s done a lot of short films and music videos and art work with a lot of very interesting people and she really has a clear voice. She’s really impressive.
“Quite instantly I just knew I wanted to work with her.”
Vikander enjoys the sci-fi genre as one of her breakout roles was in the 2014 film ‘Ex Machina’ and thinks that the new movie has the makings of a great flick.
She said: “(It) has the sci-fi aspect in that it’s set in the close future and obviously it can bend certain rules. But when it comes down to it, it has some thriller aspects to it that I love in the game. But it’s also quite an existential drama, with very human emotions.”

James Mangold defends mystical Indiana Jones elements

OHMYGOSSIP — James Mangold has defended the mystical elements in ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’.
The 59-year-old director has helmed the latest movie in the franchise that features Harrison Ford’s Indy and his goddaughter Helena Shaw (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) as they try and find a device that will change the course of history but has rejected suggestions that the plot is too outlandish.
Discussing the film’s time travel elements, James told ComicBook.com: “Well, certainly myself and my co-writers on the picture, we discussed it a lot.
“But it’s not really so controversial, these movies have a very elegant form. The relic always defines the third act and the power of the relic defines the magic of the movie.
“So whether you’re talking about the Ark of the Covenant or you’re talking about the Holy Grail, or at all, we can talk about all of them, but whatever goes down in the third act is usually some kind of reaction to the magic and power and mysticism possessed by the relic itself. And usually pretty mind-blowing.”
Mangold continued: “And I think that has become a staple of all the movies, that each movie ends up culminating with a kind of event, a kind of magical, inexplicable event that forces this doctor, this scientist to suddenly have to wrestle with how he’s going to explain this with simple logic.”
The ‘Logan’ director also explained how watching the franchise’s original film ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ inspired him to get behind the camera.
James said: “I mean, on the simplest level, if you go back to the 17-year-old sitting there, I knew I wanted to be a movie director, although seeing ‘Raiders’ was only galvanising that feeling. But if you told me that I’d be making a movie with those people on the screen, that would blow my mind.”

Coronation Street’s Elle Mulvaney has been offered counselling after her rape storyline

OHMYGOSSIP — Elle Mulvaney has been offered counselling because of her ‘Coronation Street’ rape storyline.
The 20-year-old actress – who has played Weatherfield resident Amy Barlow since she was seven years old – gushed about how the bosses of the long-running ITV1 soap offer a “really good support network” amid her character dealing with the trauma of being sexually assaulted by Aaron Sandford (James Craven).
She told the Daily Star newspaper’s HotTV Column: “There is a really good support network at Corrie in every department.
“And when I was filming the storyline, I had countless people coming up to me and saying, ‘if you ever need a shoulder to cry on, or want someone to talk to…’
“It was really reassuring.”
Elle called recovering from filming the scenes “exhausting” and reflected it is “not always easy” to deal with a serious subject matter like rape but her loved ones are important in her bounceback to her cheery self.
She said: “It can be exhausting and sometimes it can be difficult.
“If you’ve had a long day and filmed lots of scenes with lots of crying, it’s quite difficult… especially with a topic like rape.
“I do find ways to switch off, I talk to my friends and my family. But it’s not always easy.
The brunette beauty – who snagged a TRIC Award for her performance – enthused about how “soaps are so important” by pointing out they highlight serious issues to a wide audience.
Elle said: “Soaps are so important. We shed light on important topics.
“That’s why they stay relevant, and that’s why we’ve been going for over 60 years.
“We have to do stuff like this. When something like an attack happens to someone, they might feel like it’s the end.
“Corrie shows that it isn’t. It gives people hope. I’m proud to be part of the show.”

‘That show is an animal like no other!’ Katherine Kelly looks back at her time on Coronation Street

OHMYGOSSIP — Katherine Kelly says ‘Coronation Street’ is an “animal like no other” in terms of the workload.
The 43-year-old actress played diamond-in-the-rough Becky Granger on the long-running ITV1 soap opera from 2006 until 2012 and reflected that her time on the show was incredibly hectic because she had to learn, rehearse, and film multiple episodes all at the same time.
She told Metro newspaper’s SixtySeconds column: “It’s an animal like no other in terms of TV. When I used to work with actors who did old-fashioned repertory seasons, they’d tell me how they’d be performing a play at night, rehearsing another in the day and learning the next one.
“That’s what my time at ‘Corrie’ was like, because that character was like playing 10 characters in over four years and filming 15 episodes at once!”
Since her time on the cobbles, Katherine – who as former jailbird Becky became the 50th character to work as a barmaid in the famous Rovers Return Inn, had an ill-fated marriage to Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) and attempted to buy her nephew Max from her sister Kylie but eventually left the Manchester backstreet for a new life in Barbados – has starred in dramas like ‘Liar’ and ‘Happy Valley’ but “doesn’t have a preference” over the kind of role she takes on because it has to be “all about” the writing.
She added: “I don’t have a preference; it’s all about the script. Even though these have come out at the same time, I didn’t shoot them directly after each other – I shot something quite serious in between. I have a production company now called Make Me and we made a comedy fiction podcast called ‘Curl Up and D.I’in 2021 when they weren’t massively a thing.
“It’s written by Tony Pitts, starring Jim Moir [Vic Reeves], Morgana Robinson, Mark Benton and me, and it did really well. The world is more thirsty for comedy than ever with everything else that’s going on. People want an escape.

Steps star Claire Richards wants to host her own quiz show

OHMYGOSSIP — Claire Richards wants to host a quiz show.
The 45-year-old singer is best known as a member of pop group Steps alongside Faye Tozer, Lee Latchford-Evans, Lisa Scott-Lee and Ian ‘H’ Watkins but has made multiple appearances on celebrity editions of shows such as ‘Pointless’ and ‘Mastermind’ over the years and is “so obsessed” with quiz programmes that she would like to front her own one day.
She told The Daily Star newspaper: “I’m obsessed with quiz shows after starting off doing one for Marie Curie so maybe I’ll have my own show one day. I seem to know a lot about nothing, which comes in handy!”
Meanwhile, the ‘One For Sorrow’ hitmaker – who got her first taste of presenting when she and bandmate H fronted Saturday morning television together in the early 2000s and in later years hosted a cooking segment on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ before enjoying a short stint as a regular panellist on ‘Loose Women’ in 2014 – competed on the 2023 series of ‘The Masked Singer’ as Knitting but recently revealed that she had “horrendous anxiety” on the set of the show as she suffered symptoms of perimenopause.
She told The Daily Mirror: “This last year has been a weird one. I started getting perimenopause symptoms and I was like, ‘Hold on a second, I don’t like this’. When I was doing The Masked Singer, the anxiety was horrendous. I was having the worst palpitations, pounding through my neck. I didn’t feel I could give it my best at all.
“You kind of feel like you’re shrivelling up from the inside out. It took me a long time to address it. It’s a milestone, isn’t it?”

She said: “I believe this as well – Nina said she’s watching from home, morning, Nina!

“So she wants to pass on her thanks for everything – all the kind words people have said.”
Jon concluded: “All our love to you and the family, Nina – that is fantastic, we’re delighted for you.”
Nina shared the news of her pregnancy on Mother’s Day and worked until just her due date, which had been “intense”.
She said on social media: “It’s been a funky few months… involving intense migraines, vomiting, morning kebabs, first-time acne, small acts of violence against fruit, afternoon kebabs, tears, spontaneous snoozes, anxiety and more kebabs.
“I am settling in to the middle chunk (emphasis on chunk) and enjoying the wonders of Mother Nature and her tiny kicks and flutters. The boys and the cat have been enjoying their new chair. God willing, Baby Doner-Shish joins the outside world in the summer.”

John Noakes was allowed to keep Blue Peter dog Shep, claims new biography

OHMYGOSSIP — John Noakes was allowed to keep Shep, the ‘Blue Peter’ dog, according to a new book about the show’s editor.
The late veteran presenter of the beloved classic children’s programme – who died in 2017 aged 83 – claimed in 1983 that he and his Border Collie were “forced apart by the BBC”, but a new book about Biddy Baxter, 90 – who worked behind the scenes on the series from 1962 to 1988 – has claimed John gave the pooch away when he went travelling around the Balearic islands.
In the new biography by Richard Marson, ‘Biddy Baxter: The Woman Who Made Blue Peter’ – of which an excerpt was published in the Daily Telegraph newspaper – it is claimed that the public broadcaster did allow the presenter to keep the dog, but with the caveat that he was not allowed to appear in other showbiz pursuits, like television programmes and adverts.
The tome claims that on John’s last day working on the show – which also included presenters Valerie Singleton, 86, and Peter Purves, 84 – he ripped up the contract and tossed it on the floor.
However, man and dog were believed to have spent many contented years together and worked together again on the adventure show ‘Go With Noakes’.
Richard wrote: “John and Vicky took the life changing decision to sell their home in Britain and embark on an epic sailing adventure. Neither Shep nor Skip would be joining them.”
John’s widow, Vicky, told Richard: “Dogs find being at sea quite disturbing and get very anxious.”
The book also says Shep was then later taken to live with Edith Menezes, who worked on the show as a long-time pet handler and due to being owned by the BBC had his expenses to paid by the corporation.
When John first said that Shep was removed from his care with force by the BBC, Biddy is believed to have received letters accusing of her of cruelty.
Before the dog’s 1987 death, John went to see him one last time and his wife Vicky recounted their final visit.
She said: “We had just been to see Shep. By this time, he had stomach problems and was pretty much blind.
“But, immediately, he heard John’s voice, whoosh, down the path he went like a bullet, and they were reunited. They were good mates, and John loved him.”

Sue Perkins ‘to host Double Your Money’ game show

OHMYGOSSIP — Sue Perkins is to front ‘Double Your Money’.
The ex ‘Great British Bake Off’ presenter, 53, is set to host the new Channel 4 game show, which will see contestants potentially transform a “seed” fund into a huge cash prize.
An TV insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “On the face of it, this might have a whiff of a daytime TV show where people try to make money from small ventures. But this show is a big prospect for Channel 4.
“That’s reflected in the fact that they’ve signed up someone as well known as Sue as the presenter.
“And bosses are raising viewers’ expectations too, describing it as ‘breaking the mould of traditional game shows’.”
Sue – who recently split from ‘Naked Attraction’ presenter Anna Richardson – recently admitted she suffers from the “seven-year itch” when it comes to her relationships.
She said to Margaret Cabourn-Smith on the ‘Crushed’ podcast: “With me it always ends in an exactly seven-year relationship. Yes, it’s weird. It’s between six-and-a-half and eight usually. I’m an idiot.
“I’ve been lucky in all the relationships I’ve had but where I struggle – the final hurdle – is making something forever, maybe because I’m so frightened of it.
“I was in a very long-term happy thing and obviously we grew out of it, I guess.
“I suppose a lot of my childhood and probably up until … well, quite recently, I was obsessed with relationships and sex and being loved.”
Sue now believes she has “turned a corner” when it comes to co-dependency.
She said: “I think I’ve turned a corner now and I’m just catching up to where most mature people have been for some time.”

Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Culculoglu split

OHMYGOSSIP — Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Culculoglu have split.
The ‘Love Island’ winners have gone their separate ways, less than a year after they won the show together, the Italian model has announced on his Instagram account.
The 27-year-old hunk shared a brief statement, in which he vowed to “continue to support” his 28-year-old former partner, but didn’t give any reasons for the split.
He wrote on his Instagram Story: “@ekinsuofficial +I are no longer together.
“I am grateful for the memories and opportunities we shared together and I wish her nothing but the best.
“I would like for everybody to respect this decision during this difficult time, I will continue to support Ekin in anyway possible.(sic)”.
The former ‘Dancing On Ice’ contestant has yet to comment on the break-up herself, but she is currently in Turkey with her family.
Hours before Davide issued his statement, Ekin-Su shared a photo of herself with some relatives enjoying the sun.
She captioned the image on her Instagram Story: “Finally reunited with mum and auntie [pink heart emoji].”
Ekin-Su recently claimed she “lost every friend” she had after appearing on ‘Love Island’.
The 28-year-old actress won the dating show with Davide Sanclimenti last summer but finding both love and fame has come at a cost as she has “deleted” people from her life after seeing their “true colours”.
She told Cosmopolitan UK: “I’ve lost every friend I had. I don’t have any friends. I have one friend and that’s it.
“Unfortunately, with the fame, you see people’s true colours. People just want to be your friend because of your status, and it’s a hard industry to trust.
“No, I don’t actually have friends left.
“People I’d known for 10 years who were in my life… Selling stories is not very nice. I wouldn’t do that to someone.
“If they were happy, I would support them. Unfortunately, I had that coming out of the villa, I had to delete people out of my life.”
However, the reality TV star insisted she is “happier” now because she prefers to have only a small number of people in her life.
She added: “But I am happier this way.
“Sometimes keeping your circle small is the best, and you don’t always need friends. So long as you know who you are, that’s fine.”

This Is MY House axed by BBC after 2 series

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘This Is MY House’ has been axed by the BBC after two series.
The BBC One show – which was co-created by former ‘Blue Peter’ presenter Richard Bacon – was fronted by Stacey Dooley for the first season, but she didn’t appear in the second series, and there won’t be a third helping after the corporation pulled the plug.
A BBC spokesman told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Sometimes difficult decisions have to be made, so whilst there will be not be another series of ‘This is MY House’ on BBC One and iPlayer, we would like to extend our thanks to Richard Bacon and the entire team at Expectation plus all our celebrity sleuths for two series of the show.”
The programme saw four contestants try to convince a panel of stars they were the real owner of an abode.
The quartet consisted of the real homeowner, as well as three imposters.
A £1,000 prize was awarded to the homeowner if they were chosen by the celebrities.
Ricky Hatton, Claire Richards, Deborah Meaden, and Robert Rinder took part in a celebrity special of the show for Red Nose Day last year.
Stacey fronted the first series, but there was a voiceover for the second season and episodes were shortened to 30 minutes.
Away from the show, Stacey has had a busy year after she and her partner Kevin Clifton – a former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ pro dancer – welcomed their first child, Minnie, into the world.
She wrote on Instagram: “Our Daughter is here. My little masterpiece! I’m COMPLETELY OBSESSED. Love you Minnie, Love you Kev x (sic)”
Kevin added: “Our daughter is here. The most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. So proud of u @sjdooley. Love u Minnie , Love u Stace x (sic)”

Gal Gadot had ‘so much fun’ playing Evil Queen in Snow White

OHMYGOSSIP — Gal Gadot has had “so much fun” playing the Evil Queen in ‘Snow White’.
The 38-year-old actress found it “delicious” to take on the role of the villain in Disney’s upcoming live-action reimagining of classic animated movie ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ and she relished being able to “stretch” her performance into something “more dramatic”.
Speaking to Hong Kong’s Vogue magazine, she said: “I think it was so much fun to play the Evil Queen.
“There was something so delicious with this part because it’s a fairy tale. It’s the first Disney villain. And because it’s a musical, I could stretch my performance and make it so much more dramatic and so much more animated, that it was just simply delightful.”
Gal even changed her voice for the part, and she’s excited to see the film in its entirety.
She added: “I enjoyed it, and I changed my voice and I did all these different things. And it was just super fun, and I can’t wait to watch it. I can’t wait to see how, you know, how it all turns out.”
The actress previously explained she wanted to make her character’s evilness “interesting” and for the film to explore why the Evil Queen is the way she is.
She told People magazine: “I wanted to make sure that we keep her delightful and delicious, and we understand what makes her tick. Then the evilness is interesting, and not just flat.
“For me, it was making sure the Queen is not just evil for the sake of being evil. There is a complexity. Between the two characters, it’s like a mother-daughter relationship in a weird way. It’s what happens to a woman when she feels like she’s not relevant anymore, what can come out of her.”
And Gal relished the fact people on set were “intimidated” by her look.
She said: “Just to be able to be that character and feel what it makes other people feel. Usually I make people talk to me, open and comfortable. With this one, I truly felt people were intimidated by me.
“Everything was very, not aggressive, but it was very intimidating. But to be that character just feels great, because you feel like it’s effective in the story.”
Her co-star Rachel Zegler confirmed: “Yeah. It’s very intimidating. And it was also the black lipstick, it was the nails, it was the lashes.”
