Ant and Dec’s Limitless Win commissioned for two more series

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant and Dec’s ‘Limitless Win’ has been commissioned for two more series.
ITV bosses are delighted with the Geordie duo’s game show – which sees contestants try to climb a never-ending money ladder to claim the world’s first unlimited jackpot – and now it’s set to stay on air until at least 2025.
Ant McPartlin said: “We’re so happy that ‘Limitless Win’ has been such a hit with the viewers, we love making it.
“It’s such a thrilling and emotional roller coaster of a show.”
His co-star Dec Donnelly revealed the duo are looking forward to seeing how people’s tactics change now they’re “more familiar” with the format.
He added: “We’re bracing ourselves for another two series of high tension and nail-biting drama as more contestants take on the Limitless ladder.
“We’re excited to see how high they can climb now they’re so much more familiar with the show. Bring it on.”
And Katie Rawcliffe, ITV’s head of entertainment commissioning, commented: “Limitless Win has very quickly accrued a loyal family audience and become one of our most unique and nail biting game shows.
“We look forward to more fun on the money ladder in 2024.”
Filming for the next series of ‘Limitless Win’ is due to start later this year, with the next series expected to air in 2024.
The second season saw producers shake things up with a new lifeline that allowed Ant and Dec to help the contestants with the answer to one question, and Dec previously admitted the duo thought it would be too much pressure.
He said: “As soon as it came to the first record and that lifeline popped up, honestly my heart sank. I thought, ‘Oh God. Oh no. What have we done here? The pressure, the pressure.’ ”
Ant and Dec are in for a busy 2024, with ‘Limitless Win’ coming alongside ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ – which is being shelved after next year’s 20th anniversary run – ‘I’m A Celebrity’ and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, while they are also a driving force behind the upcoming ‘Byker Grove’ revival.

Denise van Outen lands ‘Martin Lewis-style’ consumer show for Channel 4

OHMYGOSSIP — Denise van Outen is to present consumer programming for Channel 4.
The 49-year-old star is known for presenting ‘The Big Breakfast’ in the 1990s but has since made a career out of starring on the West End stage and in the BBC soap opera ‘EastEnders’ but after fronting ‘Air Fryers: Are They Worth It?’ for the broadcaster earlier this year, is now “on a mission” to help others with two more episodes of consumer-based programming.
She is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz Column: “Everyone wants to know the difference between brands and own-label — and I’m on a mission to reveal the secrets that could save you a small fortune!”
An insider explained that the former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant – who regularly appears as a panellist on Channel 4’s ‘Steph’s Packed Lunch’ – has carved out a “real niche” at the broadcaster and hinted that more could be on the cards if the episodes are received well.
A source said: “Denise has carved out a real niche at Channel 4 with her consumer-focused programming. And she has been a big hit with viewers. She’s warm, entertaining and strikes the perfect balance between being relatable and reliable. If the next two shows go well, there’s hope to continue in the same vein.”

Tom Cruise ‘dreamed’ of Mission: Impossible cinema release

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Cruise “dreamed” of releasing ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’ in cinemas.
The Hollywood icon reprises his role as Ethan Hunt in the new action blockbuster and is delighted that the movie has finally reached the big screen after the obstacles posed by the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the film’s New York premiere on Monday (10.07.23), Tom said: “We talked about it. We dreamed about it. It’s very, very special.
“On ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, they kept pushing the movie and pushing the movie, and for (McQuarrie) and I, this is such an ambitious movie. And it was a very challenging film to produce, and then everything happened, and it was even more challenging. So to have this response… is very, very special.”
Tom has championed the cinema experience amid the challenges of the pandemic but isn’t feeling under pressure to make the new flick a success at the box office.
The 61-year-old star explained: “I’m just going to make the best films that I can make, and I want them all to perform well, and I want all of the other films to perform well.
“I think about a movie in terms of the quality and longevity, I invest everything in it. So, really, my job is just to try to make the best film I possibly can to entertain the audience for that particular genre.”
Leaked audio footage showed Cruise yelling at a crew member who was not abiding by social distancing rules during the pandemic and his co-star Simon Pegg explained that the star lost his temper as he feared COVID-19 would “wipe cinema off the face of the earth”.
He told Sunday Times Culture magazine: “Everything that Tom cares about, in terms of his job, was at stake due to the pandemic.
“For him there was a danger this virus could wipe cinema off the face of this earth.
“People can argue that cinema is frivolous. But it’s not. Cinema brings people together at a time we’re pulling apart, and that just added to Tom’s determination to put people in a room together. The power of cinema is, for him, precious and it’s vital we sustain it.”

Vince Vaughn heads Nonnas cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Vince Vaughn is to lead the cast of ‘Nonnas’.
The 53-year-old actor has been tapped to star in the comedy from director Stephen Chbosky that wrapped production last month in New Jersey.
Vince will be joined in the film by Susan Sarandon, Lorraine Bracco, Talia Shire and Brenda Vaccaro.
Other cast members include Linda Cardellini, Drea De Matteo, Joe Manganiello, Michael Rispoli and Campbell Scott.
‘Nonnas’ is based on the true story of Brooklyn man Joe Scaravella (Vaughn) who realises he is wasting his life as a single man in a dead-end job when his mother passes away.
Motivated by his Italian mum’s love of cooking, but with a lack of culinary experience and funds, he opens a restaurant with an unlikely team of chefs – consisting of grandmothers.
The nonnas make their Sunday dinners every day of the week (apart from Christmas and Easter) for anybody who needs to feel at home and Joe finds a new purpose, community and love interest (Cardellini) as he and the nonnas discover that it’s never too late to start again.
Liz Maccie is writing the script for the project that is being produced by Fifth Season and 1Community.
Vince is set to star in a sequel to his 2004 sports comedy ‘Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story’ but explained that he is cautious about doing follow-ups to his hit movies as he doesn’t like reviving films purely for the sake of it.
He said: “I’ve had so many movies that I’ve been fortunate with and I never jumped into the sequels for that reason. Because I always felt like if you’re just doing it because you think it’s a way to get an audience, the problem is you’re not going to feel good on the other side of it. So we’ve waited and I’m sure one of them will make sense, there’s some continuation that will work.”

‘It happened in the toilet!’ EastEnders star Gillian Taylforth reveals ‘weird’ encounter with fan

OHMYGOSSIP — Gillian Taylforth gets recognised in “weird places”.
The 67-year-old actress is known to millions of television viewers for her role as Kathy Beale in the BBC soap opera ‘EastEnders’ and insisted that while she “doesn’t mind” at all when fans call her by her character’s name, she finds it “weird” to be asked for a photo in the toilet.
She told The Daily Mirror newspaper: “I’ve been recognised in some weird places. It’s happened in the toilet. Someone asked me for a picture with the lovely backdrop of the sink. I said, ‘Can we move away from the bogs?’ People call me Kathy all the time but I don’t mind it.
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star – who has Jessica, 31, and 24-year-old Harrison with partner Geoff Knights – went on to explain that her children used to get “so fed up” when she was spotted in public because she would have to spend hours signing autographs but she herself has “never minded” the attention because the fans are the people who keep the show on the air.
She added: “My children used to get so fed up because it took me two-and-a-half hours to go shopping because people would stop me and ask me to sign this and sign that. But I don’t mind. It is part and parcel of being on a soap. So long as people are nice and pleasant, then it’s fine. I’ve never minded because they’re the people who watch the show and keep us going.”
The former ‘Loose Women’ panellist initially played Kathy from 1985 until 2000 but returned to the part in 2015 and explained that she never divulges any gossip from upcoming storylines and has to “get out” of revealing all to friends.
She said: “I don’t say anything to anybody. It’s more exciting for the public if they don’t know what’s going on. Some of my friends will say, ‘What’s going to happen?’ And I go, ‘Oh I can’t tell you otherwise I will have to kill you’. That’s the easiest way to get out of it.”

The 55-year-old TV star – who has appeared on the Channel 4 show ‘Gogglebox’ since 2021 alongside his sister Jane and is known for his witty quips about the week’s most talked about telly – swiftly told the pack of preteen boys to “grow up” when they laughed at him for stature outside the supermarket and found some solidarity with the shop’s security and a “special pal”.
He wrote on Twitter: “Today, some 12yo boys came up to me to point and laugh. I said ‘grow up’.
“I carried on shopping, which took some courage as they followed me.

He added: “There was some peer pressure going on too. I was going to tell them ‘one or more of you isn’t comfortable with what you’re doing right now, stand up for what you believe and you will have a better life than the others’.”
Simon has also used social media to share times when he’s been feeling himself like during last year’s festive period he posted on social media: “Caught myself in the lift mirror and advocated the importance of loving yourself after getting his “Christmas hair”.

OHMYGOSSIP — Samantha Fox never thought about finding love again after the “traumatic loss” of her first wife.
The 57-year-old star had relationships with the likes of Kiss rocker Paul Stanley before realising she was “definitely gay” and married manager Myra Stratton but after she died following a battle with cancer in 2015, Sam admitted that she hadn’t even thought about looking for somebody new until she met fan Linda Olsen, and the pair tied the knot in 2022.
She told new! magazine: “I guess growing up, I wasn’t sure and thought maybe I was just having ‘a moment’. But then you’d have a few of those and think, ‘Oh, I might be gay.’ The more experiences I had with women, the more I definitely knew that I was. Linda was in a relationship, and I was looking after Myra, who was terminally ill. It was traumatic, knowing I was going to lose Myra. I couldn’t think about anything else during those times. The last thing I thought about was finding someone new. But Linda and I met when she came along to a meet-and-greet event in Oslo. I realised she was absolutely gorgeous, inside” and out. We had an instant connection.”
“I love being married.
Since her heyday as a Page 3 girl for The Sun and 1990s pop singer, the ‘Touch Me (I Want Your Body)’ hitmaker has carved out a successful career in television with appearances on ‘ I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ and ‘Celebrity Big Brother’, and will soon be seen on ‘Celebrity Masterchef’ but is excited to see how her “rollercoaster life” will be depicted on-screen in a new TV drama.

‘Men need to change their ways!’ Former Corrie star Nicola Thorp reveals stalking hell

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicola Thorp was left terrified after realising she had a stalker.
Over a period of two years, the 34-year-old actress – who is best known for her stint as Nicola Rubinstein on ‘Coronation Street’ – was stalked by Ravinderjit Dhillon and after he was found guilty in April, she has now opened up about the ordeal and explained that not being informed of his identity amid the investigation led her to believe that he could be any man she saw in public.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’, she told hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls: “You want to know if you’re going to be able to take care of yourself if he was to approach you in the street. That was the big thing. My main question was, ‘Would he be able to carry me?’ and that’s devastating. Because with these kinds of crimes, when he’s kept anonymous, they become every single person that you meet. He was every guy at a bus stop. He was the person at work who looked at me funny.
“He was the guy in the supermarket. He just became everybody. When I got the phone call, saying that he’d been arrested, I was so relieved. I thought, ‘Fantastic, who is he?’ and they said, ‘We can’t tell you’”
“I asked, ‘But where does he live, roughly?’ They said, ‘We can’t tell you.’ I said, ‘Do I know him? Is he an ex-partner?’. ‘We can’t tell you anything,’ they said.
Dhillon had used more than 25 online aliases to contact Nicola – who since her time on ‘Coronation Street’ has carved out a career as a broadcaster with regular appearances on ‘This Morning’ and TalkTV – and she went on to explain that after finding his name outside of court, she tried looking for him on Facebook and “begged” officers to show her a picture of him.
She added: “For months, I kept begging them, ‘Please, can I just see a photograph of him or [know] his name?’ It was only when I saw his name on the piece of paper outside court, that I saw his name for the first time. I begged them [police], ‘Please can you just show me a photograph of him?’ because he had quite a common name.
“I tried to find him on Facebook.
“They eventually showed me a photograph and said we can only show you here in the police station.”
Nicola explained that she ended up stood behind her stalker when they queued to get into the court day and found herself “frozen” to the spot as she finally laid eyes on the main who had “harassed and stalked” her for a number of years.
She said: “It was a few weeks ago at his sentencing that I turned up to court. You have to queue before you go inside and you go through security. You give your name to the security guard as you’re going through. I was actually stood behind him in the queue. He gave his name to the security guard at which point I just completely froze because that was him. That’s the man who had harassed and stalked me since 2018. And he was right there in front of me.”
The police told ‘Good Morning Britain’ that the investigation was hampered by the “complex and protracted” process of obtaining information from social media companies in order to prove Ravinderjit was the man behind dozens of chilling messages
However, Nicola went on to claim that the onus lies with men to “change their behaviour” and wants the police to “help the victim” throughout the process.
She said: “It is on men to change their behaviour and also for the police and the authorities to give us the tools to be able to protect ourselves. He had all the power.
“When he had this stalking Protection Order taken out against him, the conditions, his bail conditions were that he wasn’t allowed to contact me. And the only person who would know if he had contacted me, was him. How is that right? I just wish the focus wasn’t just on punishing the perpetrator but helping the victim through the process as well.”
‘Good Morning Britain’ weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.

‘I feel a bit guilty!’ Nigella Lawson is less keen on big dinner parties nowadays

OHMYGOSSIP — Nigella Lawson hosts fewer dinner parties nowadays.
The 63-year-old TV star – who published her first cookbook ‘How To Eat’ 25 years ago – has taught the nation a lot about hosting through her various culinary TV series but has recently fallen “out of the habit” of getting loads of her loved ones around for a fancy meal.
She told The Times newspaper: “I’ve got out of the habit of it. I’ll have a person or a couple of people over quite often and I keep planning to have people round in a proper, grown-up way but I haven’t yet. I must! I feel a bit guilty because people have had me for dinner and I haven’t had them back.”
Nigella loves a causal vibe at the table and is “happy” for people to rock up in their sleepwear and sharing British junk food with her friends from across the pond like Twiglets.
She said: “I’m very happy for a friend to come over in their pyjamas to have supper.”
“I recently served Twiglets as a starter. There were some Americans there and I felt it my duty to introduce them.”
The former ‘Nigella Feasts’ star prefers “abundance” over lots of little dishes.
Nigella said: “I like to do a big plate of food, taking it out and seeing everyone eat. I like abundance and I feel that’s easier to do with one course.
The ‘Masterchef’ judge called her pals “an extension of” her family but loves getting new faces around the table who love food including vegans.
Nigella said: “I’ve had my friends for so long that they’re an extension of my family. It’s helpful to know what everyone’s favourite foods are but really I like cooking for eaters the most and I sort of don’t care who.”
“I cook a lot more vegan food than I used to simply because I have more vegans coming to the house. That always interests me and I never find it annoying. It’s a good way of cooking a bit differently because it’s not an empty exercise — you’re creating something for a particular person and I like that.”a

‘I do a lot of kissing!’ Stephanie Davis will not be letting her son watch her raunchy Coronation Street scenes

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephanie Davis will restrict what her son sees of her on ‘Coronation Street’.
The 30-year-old actress has landed the part of seductress Courtney Vance on the long-running ITV1 soap opera but is planning on not letting her six-year-old son Caben see all of her scenes with Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) on the ITV1 soap when her character arrives on screen later this month.
She told Daily Star’s Hot TV column: “I’m going to let him watch the first few episodes, and then after that we’ll have to wait and see. It will depend on what episodes they are.
“She’s doing a lot of kissing with Aadi, so probably not those bits”.
Stephanie – who has her little boy with her ex Jeremy McConnell, 33 – admitted that returning to telly following a hiatus after playing Sinead O’Connor in the Channel 4 soap ‘Hollyoaks’ on and off from 2010 to 2019 was “too good to be true”.
She said: “You know when you have that feeling, ‘This is too good to be true, everything is happening too quick’? This was my first audition back after three years.“
“As soon as I read the brief for the character, I was like, ‘This is mine. This is mine’. I did the audition then went through this wave of emotions. I do believe everything happens for a reason, but my first audition back? No one gets that.”
The former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star was discovered as an actress in 2010 when Andrew Lloyd Webber was searching for a girl to play Dorothy in his London production of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ through the BBC talent show ‘Over the Rainbow’ – which was eventually won by Danielle Hope – and recently explained that in the years before she found fame, she had even written a poem about joining the famous cobbles of ‘Coronation Street’ so the career move is a “dream come true” for her.
She added: “I wrote a poem when I was about 13 or 14, which read, ‘One day I will be on the cobbles of ‘Coronation Street”, My mum had put it in her bedside drawer and got it out the other day. She said, ‘How amazing is that? You wrote that as a child as one of your dreams and now you’re doing it’. It really is a dream come true.”

Queens For The Night ‘won’t return this year’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Queens For The Night’ will reportedly not be returning this year.
The ITV1 show – which aired as a special last autumn – was hosted by Lorraine Kelly and saw the likes of ‘EastEnders’ star Adam Woodyatt and ‘Coronation Street’ actor Simon Gregson get transformed into drag queens.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “The show was always thought of as a bit of a ‘special’ for ITV but there was always the hope it might take off and become a series.
“That hasn’t happened but it’s the kind of programme channel bosses could bring back sporadically.
“It was a bold choice for ITV1 on a Saturday, but a worthy one.”
THe programme featured pros and mentors Myra Dubois and Kitty Scott-Claus, while Adam and Simon were joined by fitness guru Mr Motivator, rugby ace Joe Marler and ‘Love Island’ star Chris Hughes.
The contestants had to perform as their own glamorous alter ego for a panel of famous judges including Spice Girls legend Mel C, comedian Rob Beckett and Austarlian drag queen Courtney Act.
‘Corrie’ star Simon previously admitted it was daunting stepping out in front of the judges as his drag counterpart Bidet Bardot.
Speaking before the show aired, he told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It’s very, very nerve-wracking. First time on stage, the first time I’m going to be doing what I’m going to be doing.
“The nerves are riding high. It’s a new territory for me, so we will see how I get on.”
Simon – who has played taxi driver Steve McDonald on the cobbles for over 30 years – went on to joke that he is a “really ugly woman” and thinks he looks like an evil creation straight from the mind of George Lucas.
He said: “I’m a really ugly woman! I look like a Star Wars baddie. And the rigmarole I had to go through to get there was a huge process and not comfortable.”

‘The funniest, most sarcastic s***’: Why Hugh Grant was perfect for Wonka role

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Grant was cast in ‘Wonka’ because he is the “funniest, most sarcastic s***” director Paul King has ever met.
The 62-year-old actor portrays a tiny green-haired Oompa Loompa in the upcoming movie – which tells the story as to how ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’s Willy Wonka became a confectionary magnate – and the filmmaker admitted Roald Dahl’s original novels didn’t have much dialogue about the diminutive workers, but their songs were “incredibly sarcastic and judgemental and cruel”, leading him to feel his ‘Paddington 2’ star was perfect for the job.
Speaking at the premiere of the trailer in London,, Paul quipped: “So I was really just thinking about that character; somebody who could be a real s***, and then — ah! Hugh!
“Because he’s the funniest, most sarcastic s*** I’ve ever met.”
Timothee Chalamet plays the title role in the film and Paul hailed the ‘Call Me By Your Name’ star as the “most incredible actor of his generation”.
He gushed: “It was a very short list of people who could play Willy Wonka, and really, it was him.
“I really do think he’s the most incredible actor of his generation, because he’s got this incredible ability to dive very deep into his own personal emotions and convey things with the turn of an eye — he’s very, very controlled, very smart and incredibly emotionally intuitive.”
Nothing the 27-year-old actor has “some extraordinary big shoes” to fill with the role, the director is confident Timothee can “more than live up to” the previous versions of Wonka played by Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp.
He added: “I think he manages to bring that sort of mayhem and mischievousness but with a deep emotional grounding, which is really quite extraordinary.”
‘Wonka’ is due for release in December.

‘The only two who dress like s****’: Why Ncuti Gatwa feels a connection between his Doctor and Jon Pertwee’s

OHMYGOSSIP — Ncuti Gatwa says his Doctor “dresses like [a] s***”.
The 30-year-old actor takes on the lead role in ‘Doctor Who’ later this year and he’s had a great time working with the show’s “incredible” hair and make-up department on creative distinctive looks for his new alter ego.
He told Rolling Stone UK: “The day Russell [T. Davies, showrunner] invited me to meet everybody, they asked me what sort of costume I wanted. I showed them this Ralph Lauren collection that was in partnership with Historically Black Colleges in America.
“I love those pieces, they’re so preppy and so Black. But then they asked what else, because they’d been thinking about lots of outfits, almost a different one each week. Which is new! I love it.
“The Doctor has travelled all of time and space; they’re going to have a sick wardrobe…
“I love Jon Pertwee, the Third Doctor’s, outfits. Lovely velvet jackets and frilly shirts. I feel a connection to him, our Doctors are the only two who dress like s****.
“The hair and make-up department have been incredible. Claire Williams and my own makeup artist, Bella, who is an old friend, worked so well together in creating my looks.”
Of the Afro he was seen sporting a recent 60s-inspired photoshoot as The Doctor, he added: “Originally, we weren’t going to have the Afro, but Bella convinced me and I’m very glad she did. It’s such a shot into the bloodstream. It’s a statement — the Doctor is f****** Black.”
Ncuti teased his Doctor is “emotionally vulnerable” and “lonely”, but hides his feelings with humour and vast swathes of energy.
He said: “My Doctor is emotionally vulnerable. He hides it with humour, but he’s lonely.
“I can’t say much more than that; I don’t want to spoil anything. But he’s also energetic! The poor cameramen struggled to keep up.”

Nathan Fillion joins Superman: Legacy cast with Isabela Merced and Edi Gathegi

OHMYGOSSIP — Nathan Fillion has been cast as Green Lantern in ‘Superman: Legacy’.
The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ actor is one of three new stars joining the cast of James Gunn’s upcoming blockbuster as he takes on the role of Guy Gardner and his superhero alter ego.
As reported by Vanity Fair magazine, Fillion will be joined by ‘Dora and the Lost City of Gold’ actress Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, while ‘X-Men: First Class’ star Edi Gathegi has been cast as Mister Terrific.
Gunn has taken over DC Studios with fellow chair and CEO Peter Safran, who told the outlet that the overall goal for the franchise is to make all films and shows accessible for fans.
Safran explained: “The good news is, if you’ve seen nothing that we’ve done before, you can watch ‘Superman: Legacy’, you can watch ‘Creature Commandos’, you can watch ‘Peacemaker’ season two, and you can watch ‘Blue Beetle’. All of that.
“We are trying to minimise audience confusion and maximise their enjoyment.”
David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan were recently confirmed as the new Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane in ‘Superman: Legacy’, with Gunn at the helm.
He and Safran made the decision after shooting screen tests over the weekend of 17 June, with Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney also in contention to play Clark Kent and his alter ego, and Emma Mackey and Phoebe Dynevor shortlisted for the Daily Planet reporter.
‘Superman Legacy’ is currently scheduled for release on 11 July 2025, with filming expected to take place next year.
Further cast members – including who will play Lex Luthor and The Authority – will be brought in in due course.
Corenswet will be the fourth actor to play Superman on the big screen, following in the footsteps of Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh, and Henry Cavill.
Cavill had been due to return for ‘Superman: Legacy’ after reprising the role for a cameo in ‘Black Adam’, but he announced in December he had been given the “sad news” that plans had changed.

Amber Heard: There’s a tonne of pressure on Aquaman 2 to be a success

OHMYGOSSIP — Amber Heard says there is a “tonne of pressure” on movies like ‘Aquaman 2’ to have blockbuster success.
The 37-year-old actress – who is embarking on a fresh chapter in her career after her highly-public defamation trial against ex-husband Johnny Depp last year – admits that while she is “honoured” to have played a role in the DC world, she relished getting to work on a “passion project” in the indie film ‘In The Fire’.
Speaking to Deadline, Amber – who will return as Mera alongside Jason Momoa’s titular character in ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ – said: “There’s a tonne of pressure on these big franchise movies, with millions and millions of dollars at stake, and compromises are part of trying to make it the most successful thing it can be. Then on the other end of the spectrum is a small indie film like ‘In The Fire’, a work of art and work of love, with nowhere near the same resources, and so there are compromises there. The best luck you can have as an actor is to be able to balance both.”
Amber loved getting “dirty” with her co-stars and the director to “breathe life” into ‘In The Fire’.
She plays Grace, a doctor from New York, who “travels to a remote plantation in the 1890s to care for a disturbed boy who seems to have inexplicable abilities.”
She added: “‘Aquaman’, that franchise and the machinery behind it, I’m very honoured to be a part of that. And then there are these small passion projects like ‘In The Fire’, where I’m proud to have gotten to know the filmmaker and the cast, and we got dirty together, to breathe life into this story. There’s something cool about that, and I think success is an actor who is able to have both those things.”
Amber insists her career won’t be tarnished by the trials and tribulations of her personal life.
She told the publication: “I think I’ve earned respect for that to be its own thing.
“That’s substantial enough. What I have been through, what I’ve lived through, doesn’t make my career at all. And it’s certainly not gonna stop my career. So let’s talk about this movie.”
The former couple was embroiled in a six-week trial over a piece Amber wrote in 2018 about being a victim of domestic violence, with the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor ultimately winning over $10 million in damages after winning all three of his defamation claims while she was awarded $2 million after winning one of her three countersuit claims.
