‘I have an intense relationship with it!’ Angela Scanlon to ‘avoid fake tan’ while on Strictly

OHMYGOSSIP — Angela Scanlon has vowed to “avoid fake tan” while competing on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ due to an “intense relationship” with the product.
The ‘Trump’s Unlikely Superfans’ presenter is keen to don sequins and other trappings of the dancefloor, but she isn’t keen on being bronzed while vying for the Glitterball Trophy on the BBC One Latin and ballroom competition – alongside other stars like ‘EastEnders’ actor Bobby Brazier, 20, ‘Waterloo Road’ star Adam Thomas, 35, and legendary broadcaster Angela Rippon, 78 – because it’s too traumatic due to past experiences.
The 39-year-old broadcaster told OK! magazine: “Sequins? Literally roll me in them. But fake tan? I haven’t worn fake tan in 15 years.
“I had quite an intense relationship with it. I was very committed and it wasn’t a light hue. Maybe a little bit of make-up but I don’t know if I’m going to be getting into the booth every Friday.”
Angela – who will also compete against ‘Channel 4 News’ anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy, 53, and ex ‘Family Fortunes’ presenter Les Dennis, 69 – admitted the time is now “right” for her to hit the dancefloor after welcoming her ‘Strictly’ fan girl daughters Ruby, five, and Marnie, 18 months, with her husband Roy Horgan.
She said: “We’ve had the conversation before, and it hasn’t been right – I’ve been trying to have a baby or thinking about having a baby or pregnant.
“When it came in this year, there wasn’t really a question. Ruby loves the show. She was like, ‘Can I do it, too? Are we doing it together?’ She was quite devastated when she realised she couldn’t dance with me.”
Angela has turned to former ‘Strictly’ stars, comedian Ellie Taylor, 39, and Radio 1 DJ Clara Amfo, 39, for advice ahead of the series.
They assured her to “brace yourself” but also told the TV presenter it is the “best thing you’ll ever do”.
Angela said: “That’s my motivation in life generally, to do things that feel frightening and really uncomfortable, and I feel like I haven’t done it for a while.”

Tommy Fury ‘in talks with Netflix’ for documentary series

OHMYGOSSIP — Tommy Fury is in talks with Netflix for a documentary series about his boxing career and family life.
The ex ‘Love Island’ star, 24 – who recently got engaged to his significant other Molly-Mae Hague, 24, after meeting on the 2019 edition of the ITV2 dating show – is in discussions with the streaming giant following the success of ‘At Home With the Furys’.
The series focused on the star’s older brother, boxer Tyson Fury, 35, and his family, wife Paris, 33, and their six children, daughters Venezuela, 13, Valencia, five, Athena, two, and sons Prince John James, 12, Prince Tyson II, six, and Prince Adonis, four.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Tommy’s appearance in Netflix’s ‘At Home With The Furys’ had bosses at the streaming service wondering whether Tyson’s brother was worth a show in his own right.
“Then, when the documentary turned out to be so popular, that cemented the idea in their minds.”
Molly-Mae – who has daughter, Bambi, nine months, with Tommy – often updates her fans on her family situation via social media, and she recently revealed “solo parenting” while unwell in New York was “no joke”.
She said via her Instagram Stories: “Been very MIA this weekend, but honestly, I’m convinced New York has a curse on me. I always come home so unwell whenever I go.
“This weekend has been a challenge to say the least. Solo parenting when you’re poorly is no joke … especially when you then give the flu to your baby, too [crying emoji]. Very ready for a new week.”

Jade Goody’s son Bobby Brazier thinks late mum would be ‘so proud’

OHMYGOSSIP — Bobby Brazier says his late mum Jade Goody would be “so proud” of his success
The ‘EastEnders’ actor was over the moon when he picked up his Rising Star award at the National Television Award ceremony on Tuesday (05.09.23), and while he was excited to be joined by his dad Jeff Brazier, 44, to commemorate the special occasion, the 20-year-old star couldn’t help but think of his late mum – who died of cervical cancer in 2009 aged 27.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk on the red carpet before the ceremony, Bobby said his mum would be “so proud” of him.
He added: ‘And not necessarily for Strictly, I think for everything. My life is a much bigger picture than this and everyone that knows and loves me is proud of me, and I think she’d be the same.”
Whilst on the podium accepting his award, Bobby delivered a heartfelt speech paying tribute to his dad.
He said: “It has little to do with me and everything to do with my dad.
“For over the course of the last 20 years, I’ve consistently heard him say, “Because I can” and him just saying that…because I can.”
The soap star picked up the gong for his role in primetime drama ‘EastEnders’. Bobby joined Albert Square as Freddie Slater less than a year ago and already became a favourite.
Friends and fans inundated him on Twitter with messages support and to congratulate him on his win.
One fan wrote: “A lovely acceptance speech from Bobby Brazier. No doubt his mum would be very proud #NTAs.”
Another added: “I have to say I happy clapped when #bobbybrazier won the award!! He’s got a natural talent for acting and is a great addition to @bbceastenders.”
A third chimed in: “#BobbyBrazier What a great guy he is, so likeable, humble and talented, he’s been a revelation in @bbceastenders #EastEnders as Freddie Slater, he’s come in learning his Acting craft on the job and has improved so much. The GBP will LOVE him on @bbcstrictly #Strictly.”

‘I’m sharing too much…’ Holly Willoughby reveals toilet trouble at NTAs

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby couldn’t go to the toilet for hours during the National Television Awards because her dress was so tight.
The ‘This Morning’ host enjoyed a glitzy night at the ceremony on Tuesday (05.09.23) night at London’s O2, and while she loved her gown, it wasn’t very practical when it came to bathroom breaks during the hours-long event.
Speaking on the ITV show the morning after the NTAs, she said: “So, I loved my dress last night, I love getting dressed up, all glammed and done. The problem with that dress was, it was a bit wiggly, so it was really tight round the old thighs.
“So, I had to go for a pee in the hotel – I’m sharing too much right now, but I’m going to tell you the truth!
“I couldn’t pull it up to go for a pee, and I also was so tied in tightly so nothing fell out the top that I also couldn’t pull it down. So I had to go in the hotel, and then that was it!
“That was it until I knew I was getting home from the O2 at whatever time!”
Her co-host Craig Doyle pointed out that was “five or six hours”, and the 42-year-old star revealed one advantage of her bathroom trouble meant she wasn’t having a wild night at the bar.
She added: “So I was like, nil by mouth. I had half a glass of Prosecco I think, and that was it.”
Craig quipped: “Wait till you get to your 50s, you won’t go 10 minutes! ‘Do you mind if I wear tracksuit bottoms to the awards tonight? Because that ain’t happening anymore!’ ”
‘This Morning’ missed out on the Best Daytime award – or equivalent prizes – for the first time in 13 years as the gong went to ‘The Repair Shop’.
Holly offered “huge congratulations” to Jay Blades and his team, saying: “A massive thank you just for voting for us and getting us through to the shortlist, because you look at that.
“You’ve got ‘The Chase’, you’ve got ‘Loose Women’, you’ve got ‘The Repair Shop’, you’ve got us, so just to make it there was just so wonderful.
“Thank you, always, for your love and support.’

Sarah Lancashire addresses Happy Valley future after NTAs success

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Lancashire has insisted ‘Happy Valley’ won’t return despite a successful night at the National Television Awards.
The BBC One favourite – which was created by Sally Wainwright – won the Returning Drama prize, while Sarah herself landed the Drama Performance gong for her portrayal of Catherine Cawood in the show, as well as being honoured with the Special Recognition Award on Tuesday (05.09.23) night.
Asked if the award show success could extend the drama beyond its third and final season – which aired earlier this year – she told press: “No because the story’s complete.
“It’s a story told as a trilogy, which has been a great way to tell a story, really…
“The danger is to carry on and carry on and it somehow loses its potency but I think this way, we left it on top.”
Although fans have been clamouring for more since the show ended earlier this year, creator Sally has made it clear that she and Sarah were in agreement.
She told Radio Times magazine earlier this year: “We made a definite decision that this was going to be the final season.
“Just because it’s been successful, we weren’t going to let it drift on until it became a pale shadow of itself.”
Sarah wiped away tears as she took to the stage at London’s O2 to accept the accolade following an introduction from Sir Ian McKellen and a compilation video featuring highlights of her career and tributes from past co-stars including William Roache, Dawn French, Nicola Walker, James Norton, and Siobhan Finneran.
To chants of ‘Sarah! Sarah!’, she emotionally said: “You have no idea what it’s like to have so many lovely things said about you by so many people you love and admire…
“I have been so very fortunate to spend my working life doing a job that I love, made possible by brilliantly talented people – producers, directors, writers, actors – and I am exceptionally lucky to have enjoyed every moment of it.”

Ant and Dec want ‘biggest send off’ for Saturday Night Takeaway

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant and Dec want ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ to get the “biggest send-off” when it comes to an end next year.
The TV hosts – who won the Best TV Presenter award for a record 22nd time at the National Television Awards on Tuesday (05.09.23) – front the hit variety show and announced earlier in May that the 19th series would be their last.
Ant McPartlin, 47, told Digital Spy: “We want it to be the biggest send-off because we’re resting it for a while.
“So everybody that we haven’t managed to get on in the last few years, we’re gonna try our hardest to get on.
“It’s going to be a massive celebration of the last 20 years as well, because it’s been running for 20 years, so we’re gonna bring old things back, we’ve got brand-new stuff, we’ve got lots of things planned and we’re gonna have a lot of fun doing it.
“We love it. It’s gonna be sad, but we’re gonna have fun until we get to the final episode.”
Not giving too much away Dec Donnelly teased the final season would host a lot of celebrities who previously turned down coming on the show.
Dec, 47, added: “A lot of the time it’s not just because they don’t wanna do the show – it’s diaries, it’s stuff like that, so we’ve gone very, very early this year with a lot of people.
“We’ve put a lot of calls out.
“A lot of people said yes, which is very good. It’s gonna be a huge celebration, of not just the 20 series but also brand-new stuff, we wanna go out on a high.”
‘Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’ returns for its 20th and final series next year.

Ant and Dec ‘tempted’ by cameo in Byker Grove reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant and Dec are “tempted” to make a cameo appearance in the ‘Byker Grove’ reboot.
The Geordie duo – who rose to fame as PJ and Duncan in the classic series – are reviving the show for a new generation, and they’re have admitted “anything’s possible” for ‘Byker’.
Teasing that they are “slightly tempted”, Dec Donnelly told RadioTimes.com: “We did think when we were first talking about it, ‘I wonder what PJ Duncan do now… in their mid-40s.
“‘PJ moved away and Duncan went off to university…’ I’ve just made that up!
“It would be interesting to know what those characters are doing and if they ever met up again. Anything’s possible.”
Their announcement was incredibly well received by fans, which caught the pair – who just won their 22nd National Television Award in a row for best Entertainment Presenter – totally unaware.
Ant McPartlin added: “I suppose a lot of people grew up on that show and it was important to them.
“It touched upon a lot of serious topics back in the day and it was obviously important to people, so we’ll treat it with respect – and have a lot of fun shooting it!”
Dec noted the pair “were always going to be really careful” when it came to any kind of revival, because it’s so special to them as friends and performers.
He said: “That’s the thing, it’s a show really close to our hearts. It’s where we started, it gave us our break. We were always going to be really careful about bringing it back and what we would do with it.
“But seeing the reaction from everyone online and the reaction when we announced it makes you think, ‘Oh God, we’ve got to be really careful what we do for everybody!’
“It’s not just our show, it’s everybody’s show. Everybody’s invested in it and everybody watched it.”

Strictly’s Ellie Leach ‘lined up for Waterloo Road role’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ellie Leach is reportedly being lined up for a role ‘Waterloo Road’ following her stint on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 22-year-old actress – who previously played Faye Windass on ITV soap ‘Coronation Street’ – is among the famous faces taking to the dance floor this autumn for the latest series of the BBC talent show and a new report suggests she’s being considered for a part in the broadcaster’s hit school drama once she finishes her run on ‘Strictly’.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Ellie was hugely popular when she appeared on Weatherfield’s cobbles as Faye Windass and there’s every chance she’ll be a bigger hit when she gets on the dance floor.
“When the glitter falls on the upcoming series of Strictly, they want to tap into her mass appeal and bring that over to ‘Waterloo Road’.
“They don’t want to leave it too late and have another show snap her up.”
Ellie made her debut on ‘Corrie’ as a child star back in 2011 when she was nine years old but left in May when her character was seen leaving Weatherfield and moving to Slough.
This season of ‘Strictly’ already features one star of ‘Waterloo Road’ – Adam Thomas – who was previously a castmember on ITV soap ‘Emmerdale’.
Other celebrities taking part in the new series of the dancing show include ‘EastEnders’ star Nigel Harman, TV legend Les Dennis, ‘Bad Education’ actor Layton Williams, ‘Sherlock’ actress Amanda Abbington and television presenter Angela Rippon – who at the age of 78 becomes the show’s oldest-ever contestant.
It’s believed the new series will return to TV on September 23.
After her casting on ‘Strictly’ was revealed Ellie called it the role of a lifetime. During an appearance on BBC Breakfast, she gushed: “It still doesn’t feel real that I’m going to be doing ‘Strictly’! It’s always been a dream of mine so I guess dreams really do come true!”

Olivia Rodrigo ‘walked out’ of new horror Beau is Afraid

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Rodrigo had to “walk out” of new movie ‘Beau is Afraid’.
The 20-year-old star admitted she struggles with horror movies, and she has described Joaquin Phoenix’s surreal tragi-comedy horror – which was written and directed by Ari Aster – as a “bad acid trip”.
Speaking to Phoebe Bridgers for Interview magazine, she said: “I convince myself that I see shit after I come home from watching Insidious or something.
“Also, I watched that new Ari Aster movie ‘Beau Is Afraid’ and I got so scared. I literally had to walk out of the theater.
“I have never had such a visceral reaction to a movie in my life. It felt like a bad acid trip.”
Phoebe agreed, saying: “[It was] the scariest movie I’ve ever seen, but I was laughing the entire time.”
Olivia added: “That’s the only reasonable reaction. Your body just can’t process it. You have to laugh.”
The movie – which also stars the likes of Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Kylie Rogers, Richard Kind, Michael Gandolfini and more – focuses on “a paranoid man [who] embarks on an epic odyssey to get home to his mother”.
The ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ star isn’t the only person struggling with the movie, and Phoenix himself previously warned viewers to “not take mushrooms” before watching.
He told Fandango: “I was told from someone in college that there was this college thread amongst friends, a challenge they were going to take mushrooms and go see this movie.
“And I just wanted to make a public service announcement and say do not take mushrooms and go see this f****** movie.”
Meanwhile, filmmaker Aster insisted the movie “benefits from going back” for another viewing.
Speaking to Empire magazine, he explained: “I don’t think you quite know what it is until you’ve gone all the way through.
“I imagine that the second viewing would be hopefully rich in a way that the first one can’t. It’s designed to be wrestled with.
“I consider the film to be a picaresque, and I think part of that tradition is a certain irreverence towards the integrity of any sort of narrative structure. The film is designed to kind of shapeshift a lot.”

Liam Neeson scolded by George Lucas for making lightsaber noises

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor were scolded by ‘Star Wars’ boss George Lucas for making lightsaber noises during a fight scene.
The actors both appeared in Lucas’ prequel movie ‘Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace’ and Neeson has revealed the pair were very excited to get their hands on the iconic sci-fi franchise’s weapons for a battle sequence – but their enthusiastic noises irked the director.
Speaking on the ‘Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend’ podcast, the actor explained: “The first time I actually had to pull the lightsaber and there’s just a handle and a bit of alumina tube with green tape – mine was green because I’m Irish, Irish Jedi – and Ewan’s was red or something.
“So the first time we got to pull them at the start of a little fight. We both automatically went and action [made light sabre sound effect noises] … George said let’s cut that. Boys we can add that [noise] in later … Of course we knew that.”
Neeson also opened up about working with characters who were added in later via CGI and recalls a candid conversation with the woman who was doing his make-up.
He said: “I was supposed to being doing this scene with [Watto], a little flying monster. I didn’t know what this thing was going to look like so I’m acting to a guy with a stick a … tennis ball on top which will eventually be this little monster. I’m in the makeup chair, and the lady says: ‘I did see a mock-up of the wee monster, and you could be a monkey smoking a pipe and no one is going to be looking at you.’
“And I had a lot of lines to say … to this tennis ball. And when you see the scene it’s amazing.”
During the podcast Neeson – who played Jedi master Qui-Gon Jinn – revealed he isn’t approached by ‘Star Wars’ fans for autographs very often and complained the franchise has been “diluted” by spin-offs.
He said: “Not all the time [I’m approached by ‘Star Wars’ fans] I mean it is a cult. There’s so many movies and spin-offs now I think it’s diluting the whole thing. That’s my personal thing. Occasionally there’s kids after a ‘Star Wars’ autograph and I don’t want to give autographs at the airport. Oh but it’s not the kid, it’s the grandfather, there he is – or the dad. They become 11 year olds.”

Corrie star Simon Gregson reveals anxiety disorder

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Gregson kept getting “really ill” before being diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.
The 48-year-old actor has played the role of Steve McDonald on ‘Coronation Street’ since he was a teenager and had to visit a psychiatrist after his mental health struggles had led him to believe he was suffering from mystery illnesses.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, he said: “In about 2015, it kind of come to a head. I had no idea what it was. I just kept getting really ill I kept getting these mystery illnesses, I was having heart scans, brain scans, and they thought at one point I had vertigo, all these sorts of ailments. Then eventually I went to see my local GP and a psychiatrist and he said ‘You’ve had an anxiety disorder, and you’ve had it for a very long time.’
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ contestant went on to add that these days when a young actor joins the soap, everything is explained to them about how their life will change but claimed that was not the case when he first joined the cast.
He added: “All the people who come into ‘Corrie’ now are taken off into a room and they’re told about what will happen, press intrusion, how being famous – for want of a better word – will change your life. But when we started, there was none of that so we just had to deal with it. And we kind of became massive overnight.
“It was the late 80s, early 90s and now I think being on TV or in the public eye is a lot easier When it came to a head, it was when I rang my boss and said ‘I’m in the car, but I can’t get off the drive’. For a long time I was doing my job, but it happens to everyone in all walks of life so that’s my goal, to highlight it. I think a lot of people are living with it and don’t know what it is. And as soon as someone said it, a lot of it went. I went to go see the GP and then ITV brought a doctor in. He said ‘Six months off’.”

The 20-year-old actor – who is the son of late Big Brother legend Jade Goody and her former partner Jeff Brazier – is enjoying his time as Freddie Slater on the BBC soap opera ‘EastEnders’ but is also looking forward to “moving his hips and shoulders” when he hits the dancefloor for the upcoming series of the Latin and ballroom competition.
He told The Daily Mirror newspaper: “‘EastEnders’ is great, ‘Strictly’ is great – I don’t think me doing ‘Strictly’ makes my time at ‘EastEnders’ any better. [I’m looking forward] to the sexy dances. I can’t wait to move my hips and shoulders.”

Doctor Who star Freema Agyeman explains why she loved coming back to UK TV after working in the US

OHMYGOSSIP — Freema Agyeman “really resonated” with her character on ‘Dreamland’.
The 44-year-old actress is best known to audiences for her portrayal of Martha Jones on the third series of BBC sci-fi series ‘Doctor Who’ but left the UK to work in the US for almost 10 years and upon returning wanted to find a project that was “really English’ so was thrilled when she landed the part of Trish in the Sky comedy series.
She told Metro newspaper’s SixtySeconds column: “That was absolutely incredible because I’d been in the States and hadn’t worked in the UK for about a decade. And so when I made the decision to come home, I was keen to find a project that was really English in its essence. Then this came along and immediately the character resonated with me, because it is the closest to my upbringing and family set-up and community – that I’ve ever had the opportunity to play. I grew up on an estate and I don’t mean to sound clichéd but we didn’t lock our doors – so much so that if you were coming out of the bathroom without a towel, you would have to run and duck for cover because the front door could fly open at any point with the neighbours coming in.”
The series also featured pop singer Lily Allen in her first acting role and Freema went on to add that she and the ‘Smile’ hitmaker quickly became friends as they played on-screen sisters.
She said: “We didn’t know each other before and within a couple of weeks, she’d already got me backstage tickets for Shy FX at Notting Hill Carnival, so cheers, Lily Allen! No, she’s brilliant – what you see is what you get. She did an absolutely phenomenal job in ‘Dreamland’ because she has a fearlessness about her and that’s going to serve her really well in this.”

Denise Welch embarrassed her sister by spilling intimate details about her on Loose Women

OHMYGOSSIP — Denise Welch has to be careful with what she says about her family on ‘Loose Women’.
The 65-year-old star first appeared as a full-time panellist on the ITV1 lunchtime chat show from 2005 until 2013 and returned to the desk in 2018 but revealed that she once came off air to find she had angered her sister Debbie by revealing intimate details about her private life on live television.
Speaking on stage during ‘Loose Women Live’ on Wednesday (06.09.23), she said: “When you’ve done a show as long as this, you have to edit yourself. Sometimes, our families sit there at home absolutely s****** themselves. There was one time that I came off air and I’d said something that got a laugh.
“My phone was just bleeping. It was my sister. I said ‘Are you all right?’ She said ‘No I’m not, everyone is staring at me.’
“I’d just told the whole nation that she had s****** the best man over the snooker table!”
The former ‘Coronation Street actress was joined on stage in her hometown of Newcastle by ‘Birds of a Feather’ star Linda Robson, Sun columnist Jane Moore and anchor Charlene White as the TV stars – who drank cocktails as they appeared on a more glamorous version of their usual set – treated their audience to a raunchier version of the daytime favourite.
As well as discussing serious topics and taking questions from the audience, Denise tried to teach her fellow panellists a Geordie accent, the ladies confessed all during a risqué game of Never Have I Ever and former ‘Emmerdale’ actress Charlie Hardwick made a guest appearance for an interview.
A rotation of panellists from ‘Loose Women’ are currently making their way across the country for their live stage show, which will see other regular stars like Janet Street-Porter, Brenda Edwards and Kaye Adams reveal never-before-heard stories and secrets.
‘Loose Women Live’ is touring until the end of September.

Michael Imperioli consulted with a witch to get Summer of Sam made

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Imperioli met a witch to get the film ‘Summer of Sam’ made.
‘The Sopranos’ star was living at the notoriously haunted Chelsea Hotel in New York City and explained how he took supernatural steps to get the 1999 crime thriller – which he co-wrote with director Spike Lee and Victor Colicchio – through development.
Speaking in the documentary ‘Ghosts of the Chelsea Hotel’, Michael said: “I had just begun writing ‘Summer of Sam’ with Victor Colicchio – we wrote that script together.
“I really wanted to get it made. So I met somebody who was living here who was a witch, who said he could help me get it made, but it wasn’t going to happen the way I thought it would. I was very ambitious at the time and wanted to get that made, so (I) resorted to tapping into otherworldly means to get it through the studio system.”
Michael, 57, also had a cameo role in the flick, which is based on the real-life serial killer David Berkowitz (also known as the Son of Sam) – who terrorised New York in 1977. John Leguizamo, Adrien Brody, Mira Sorvino and Jennifer Esposito also starred.
The star is best known for his role as Christopher Moltisanti in the acclaimed TV series ‘The Sopranos’ but took aim at Hollywood’s “unimaginative” casting process as people assumed that he was a “gangster” like his character.
Asked if he was flooded with offers for more work, Michael told The Sunday Times newspaper: “Not really. I think at the time a lot of people thought I was that character.
“Kind of like ‘Jersey Shore’ and they’d found us all at the mall and put us on the show. Hollywood is very unimaginative when it comes to casting.”

Samuel L. Jackson set to play US president in The Beast

OHMYGOSSIP — Samuel L. Jackson is in talks to play the US president in ‘The Beast’.
The 74-year-old actor is set to join Joel Kinnaman in the first significant project to be revealed for the Toronto International Film Festival.
The film was packaged prior to the Hollywood actors’ strikes kicking off and has an interim agreement with SAG-AFTRA to continue pre-production.
The movie’s title refers to the presidential limousine that is nicknamed ‘The Beast’ by the Secret Service. The impenetrable vehicle is stocked with grenades, shotguns, armour plating and bombproofing.
When a hostile militia coordinates a coup against the United States, the president (Jackson) discovers the extent of The Beast’s highly classified capabilities.
Separated from his wife, the president must control The Beast – and the monster that lurks inside him – to save his life, the life of Secret Service agent Taft (Kinnaman) and his country.
James Madigan, who has worked on movies including ‘The Meg’ and ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’, is directing from a screenplay by Umair Aleem.
It is not the first time Jackson has played the US president on the big screen as he also did so in the 2014 movie ‘Big Game’.
The ‘Snakes on a Plane’ actor has never won an Oscar during his storied film career but is convinced that a deleted scene from ‘A Time to Kill’ – the 1996 picture in which he plays a man on trial for killing two white men who abducted and raped his daughter – denied him the chance to claim a gong for Best Supporting Actor.
Samuel told Vulture: “My first day working on that film, I did a speech in a room with an actor and the whole f****** set was in tears when I finished. I was like, ‘Okay. I’m on the right page.’
“That s*** is not in the movie! And I know why it’s not. Because it wasn’t my movie, and they weren’t trying to make me a star.”
