Annabel Croft cried ahead of Strictly Come Dancing debut

OHMYGOSSIP — Annabel Croft sobbed before her debut on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 57-year-old former tennis player is competing in the new series of the hit BBC show but was left overcome with emotion ahead of her first performance following the death of her husband Mel Coleman from stomach cancer in May.
Annabel, who is partnered with professional Johannes Radebe, told MailOnline: “I just sat and cried. Mel was my biggest supporter, my protector. He gave me confidence. He made things right, always had done. I wanted to talk to him. I wanted to say: ‘I am really nervous for tomorrow, but I don’t have you to make it OK’.”
The star added: “I was about to go in front of millions of people and be jolly and happy but I was sobbing, thinking: ‘I don’t know where you are, Mel. Where have you gone?'”
Annabel also discussed the period leading up to her husband’s death and recalled a “cruel” nurse who seemed to “take pleasure in telling Mel he was dying”.
The TV and radio pundit recalled: “This nurse said: ‘Listen to me. He’s got cancer. We are not resuscitating him.’ Like she was enjoying it. I’m haunted by that. So many nights it has kept me awake, remembering the tone of her voice. It was cruel.”
Annabel explained that she never got the chance to say goodbye to Mel as his passing happened so rapidly.
She said: “It happened so quickly. He was drifting in and out of consciousness.
“And then we . . . watched him die. He took his last breath.”
She recently explained how she has been grateful for the distraction that ‘Strictly’ has provided her with as she copes without Mel.
Annabel told the ITV show ‘Lorraine’: “It’s been nice to do something joyful and use my body and try to rest my brain from thinking too many dark thoughts.”

Holly Willoughby taking extended break from This Morning after terrifying ordeal

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby won’t return to ‘This Morning’ for the foreseeable future.
The 42-year-old TV presenter is set to take an extended break from the ITV show after a man appeared in court in Essex this week over a plot to kidnap and murder her.
Gavin Plumb, from Harlow, Essex, has been charged with soliciting a man named David Nelson to commit murder, and incitement to commit kidnap between October 2nd and 5th.
He is accused of planning to assemble a “kidnap and restraint kit” and inviting the other man to travel to the UK to carry out the alleged offences.
After the shocking plot was uncovered, Holly pulled out of hosting the show on Thursday (05.10.23) and she has been given police protection at her house.
A source told The Mirror: “Holly has been left distraught by the news. This has been an absolutely horrible week for her.
“At the moment she really is getting through things hour by hour. Her absolute priority is her own safety and that of her family – who are supporting her through this incredibly difficult time.
“There has been no discussion about when, or if, she will return to the ‘This Morning’ sofa. No decisions have been made about that. But given the terrifying things she has learned this week, the question of returning to work could not be further from her mind.”
After speaking about the kidnap plot during the show on Friday (06.10.12) with Dermot O’Leary, Alison Hammond said: “We’re obviously all shocked to hear the news and want to send our love and biggest hugs to Holly.”
ITV said in a statement: “This news has come as a huge shock to everyone at ‘This Morning’ and ITV. We are providing all of the support we can to Holly and her family at this incredibly distressing time.”

Axed BGT judge David Walliams suffers ‘active suicidal thoughts’ and has ‘lost the ability to be funny’

OHMYGOSSIP — David Walliams has suffered “suicidal thoughts” and has “lost the ability to be funny” since being dropped from ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
The 52-year-old comedian left the talent show last November after derogatory marks he made about contestants during a break from filming auditions in January 2020 was made public, and he’s now seeking up to £10 million in damages from production company Fremantle over the leak after accusing them of a data protection breach.
And in court papers obtained by The Sun on Sunday newspaper,
David claimed his earnings have plummeted from £3.7 million in 2022 to just £101, 800 in the first five months of this year and he’s only received one new work booking since his dismissal from the talent show, resulting in “catastrophic results for his reputation and career”.
Lawyers acting for the former ‘Little Britain’ star claimed Fremantle Media “recorded, transcribed and retained” private conversations for 10 years, and his microphone was even on during his breaks from filming and included heart-to-heart discussions with fellow judge Alesha Dixon over his divorce from Lara Stone, his sex life and mental health struggles.
The transcripts of 1,700 hours of audio recordings over 10 years were made available to Simon Cowell’s firm Syco on request, and Fremantle also kept 41, 526 hours of visual recordings.
David has argued the surveillance has also impacted on his ability to perform and he can no longer be “spontaneous or edgy” due to a fear his remarks will be leaked.
His lawyers wrote: “He was extremely upset to learn that private information, including many highly sensitive personal matters, had been recorded without his consent or knowledge, transcribed, shared internally among the Defendant’s (Fremantle) employees and retained apparently indefinitely.
“Furthermore, the Defendant’s breaches have affected the Claimant’s ability to perform.
“He feels vulnerable on entering a studio because he fears that what he says and does in that setting may be recorded and leaked without his consent.
“Because of the constant concern that any unguarded comments could be used against him, he has lost the ability to be spontaneous or edgy — in short, to be funny.
“His inability to perform in this, his signature manner, has caused him further acute distress, because he has lost an important part of his personal and professional identity.”
The lawsuit told how David – who claimed he had no idea he was being constantly recorded until his comments were leaked – has since suffered “a return of severe depression, including suicidal thoughts”.
The document included a report from the comic’s long-term psychiatrist, Dr. Mark Collins, who noted David’s depression was “possibly the worst since I first met him”, and that his client has “severe problems with his sleep” and “is plagued by uncontrollable negative thoughts”, including “active suicidal thoughts”.
David is demanding Fremantle destroy all of the recordings and transcripts and is seeking the £1 million he lost out on from ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, as well as an additional £1.7 million for lost earnings for the last year, £3.4 million to cover future losses for at least the next two years, and unspecified damages for psychiatric harm, distress and upset, plus legal costs.
Fremantle are hoping to resolve the dispute “amicably”.
The production company said in a statement: “We had a long and productive relationship with David and so are surprised and saddened by this legal action.
“For our part, we remain available and open to dialogue to resolve this matter amicably.
“However, in the interim, we will examine the various allegations and are prepared to robustly defend ourselves if necessary.”

Phillip Schofield reaches out to Holly Willoughby following terrifying kidnap threat

OHMYGOSSIP — Phillip Schofield has reached out to offer support to Holly Willoughby after she was the target of a kidnapping plot.
The former ‘This Morning’ co-hosts are not believed to have spoken since the 61-year-old presenter was axed from the daytime show in May following the revelation he had had an “unwise, but not illegal” affair with a much younger male colleague, but he called the blonde beauty after a man appeared in court in Essex this week over a plot to kidnap and murder her.
A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “Phil was absolutely horrified to hear she had been allegedly targeted in such a sickening way and decided to reach out to her, in spite of their lack of contact. He wanted her to know he was thinking of her and her family. They’ve so much history, and this is something you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy.”
Holly, 42, welcomed the call from her old friend and mutual pals hope they can now repair their rift.
An insider said: “Holly and Phil’s friendship was so close before the events of this year. Phil’s decision to reach out, and the welcome it has been received with by Holly, shows that there is still a bond there.
“The hope is they can regain some of the ground lost, and support each other again.”
The ‘Dancing On Ice’ host is now expect to take at least three weeks off ‘This Morning’.

Martin Scorsese: ‘I’m a teacher more than a filmmaker’

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Scorsese views himself as a “teacher”.
The 80-year-old director is proud of the influence he has had on other filmmakers, not just through his own work but by recommending movies made by other people, and in turn he is inspired by them too.
Speaking during a Q+A session at the London Film Festival hosted by Edgar Wright, he said “I’ve always considered myself a teacher more than a filmmaker.
“I’ve felt a sense of pride that I’ve influenced a couple of people not necessarily with my work but by recommending films.
“And then from their films, I get inspired. It opens up a whole new world.”
The ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ filmmaker also told how he struggled to be accepted in the industry, even when he tried “to be a Hollywood guy”.
He said: “They asked me to leave around 1978/79. And not just because of the filmmaking.
“We were younger, and I was going through teenage rebellion at the age of 27.”
The ‘Taxi Driver’ director insisted he doesn’t want to be seen as the “last line of defense” for cinema in the digital age and encouraged the industry to embrace the “extraordinary time” we live in due to technological advancements.
He said: “I didn’t want to be the last line of defense. I don’t know where cinema is gonna go. Why does it have to be the same as it was in the last 90-100 years? It doesn’t.
“Do we prefer what’s been happening for the last 90 years? I do but I’m old. Younger people are gonna see the world in a different way…
“If I had digital or even good video, I would’ve shot ‘Mean Streets’ on that, and I wouldn’t have had to pay for cameras. It would have given us a sense of freedom. Now there’s so much freedom that you really have to rethink what you’re saying and how you’re gonna say it.
“I hope that serious film can still be made with this new technology and this new world we’re a part of.”

‘Like watching home movies from your ex-wife’: Guillermo del Toro refused to watch Pacific Rim: Uprising

OHMYGOSSIP — Guillermo del Toro has compared ‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’ to “home movies from your ex-wife”.
The 58-year-old filmmaker didn’t direct the 2018 sequel after making his 2013 movie and he admitted he’s never seen Steven S. DeKnight’s film, even though he was a producer, because he ultimately didn’t want to know how it compared to his own film.
He told Collider in an interview to mark 10 years since the release of ‘Pacific Rim’: “I didn’t see the final movie because that’s like watching home movies from your ex-wife.
“It is terrible if they’re good and worse if they’re bad, or the opposite. You don’t wanna know. So, I didn’t see it. I did read the final script, and it was very different. Some of the elements were the same but very different.”
Guillermo was originally supposed to direct the sequel but pulled out of the project when movie bosses failed to pay a deposit to secure the sound stages he wanted to shoot in and he wasn’t interested in their alternative option.
He explained: “We were getting ready to do it, it was different from the first, but it had a continuation of many of the things that I was trying to do.
“Then what happened is—I mean, this is why life’s crazy, right?—they had to give a deposit for the stages at 5 p.m. or we would lose the stages in Toronto for many months.
“So, I said, ‘Don’t forget we’re gonna lose the stages,’ and five o’clock came and went, and we lost the stages. They said, ‘Well, we can shoot it in China.’ And I go, ‘What do you mean we? I’ve gotta go do Shape of Water.’ ”

The Exorcist: Believer director says ‘shock value’ isn’t necessary for horror

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Exorcist: Believer’ director David Gordon Green says audiences have become “desensitised” to horror.
The upcoming supernatural film is a direct sequel to the 1973 horror classic ‘The Exorcist’ in which Linda Blair starred as Regan MacNeil, a 12-year-old girl who is possessed by a demon.
The new flick follows another family whose daughter, Katherine (Olivia Marcum), is demonically possessed.
And Green insists the movie is not about trying to be as “shocking” or provocative” as you can be, because it’s practically impossible to “shock” people these days.
Speaking to SFX magazine, he explained: “If you were to show an audience a young girl saying, ‘Your mother sucks c*** in Hell’, everyone would laugh now.
“At the time, that’s an extremely disturbing, totally f*****-up thing for a young performer to say. But now we’ve desensitised that. We’ve done that, and then 10 times that.”
The filmmaker feels that horror has evolved with the new movie, adding: “So the shock value isn’t as relevant or necessary, I don’t think. To me, this is not a movie about how provocative or shocking you can be.
“It’s about the unnerving uncertainty of childhood illness for a concerned parent that has no answers.”
In ‘The Exorcist’, the 12-year-old girl is possessed by the demon Pazuzu.
The sequel has garnered theories that the demon could return to torment another family, but David is staying quiet on the matter.
When he was quizzed about who the antagonist of ‘Believer’ is, the director replied: “I’m so tempted to tell you the name of our demon, but we don’t say it in the movie. So part of me just wants you to figure it out.
“Or if you’re a demonologist, then you know, and then if you have a friend that’s a demonologist, that’s a great dinner. I’m sorry, I’ll probably say at some point, but I’m holding back as long as I can.”
‘The Exorcist: Believer’ arrives in cinemas on October 13.
The Halloween horror special issue of SFX magazine is available to purchase now.

Siva Kaneswaran needed therapy after Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins

OHMYGOSSIP — Siva Kaneswaran needed therapy for “shell shock” and PTSD after his stint on ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’.
The Wanted singer’s fiancee Nareesha McCaffrey urged him to seek professional help after he became aggressive and very unlike himself after taking part in the gruelling reality show, which sees celebrities put through tough military training.
He told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “I’m quite soft and gentle. Coming out of that, it was shell shock. I came away from the show and felt more full of life and brave, but there was also this aggression, proper aggression.
“I’d be full throttle at everything I did, and Nareesha was like, ‘OK, Siva, this is too much’. I just wasn’t me. I had to take myself to therapy. I was supported by SAS and also my therapist in America to ground me again and remind me of my qualities.”
The 34-year-old star had to become a different person to survive on the programme and he is haunted by flashbacks from the tough training handed out by ex-Special Forces operatives Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham, Jason ‘Foxy’ Fox, Rudy Reyes and Chris Oliver.
He said: “In order to lift a 40kg box over your head and hold it on your shoulder for 40 minutes, you have to get to a certain mindset where you can push your body through physical pain for a long period of time.
“You have to get very aggressive so you come out and your brain is still set like that. It’s an extreme place.
“It gave me a whole new respect for soldiers and people with PTSD and made me realise that I’m not invincible. Even thinking about it gives me PTSD. I start shaking a bit and I can see Billy’s blue eyes staring into my soul.”

Flavor Flav in talks for 1m I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! appearance

OHMYGOSSIP — Flavor Flav is in talks for ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The controversial Public Enemy rapper – who has been arrested numerous times for offences including driving under the influence and domestic violence – is set to earn £1 million for heading to Australia for the jungle reality show, with bosses hoping his outspoken ways will stir up discussion in the camp.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper’s TVBiz column: “Although it’s not a done deal and talks are still ongoing, there is a lot of buzz around signing this big-name American music star at ITV, as he is royalty in the rap world.
“But his previous offences are a cause for concern and won’t sit well in today’s climate.
“There is a huge amount of money on the line for his contract, said to be as much as £1million, one of the biggest in the history of the show.”
While show bosses insisted “any names suggested are speculation”, charity Women’s Aid have hit out at ITV for considering the 64-year-old rapper – whose real name is William Drayton Jr. – because of his past.
In 1991, he was jailed for assaulting Karen Ross, the mother of three of his eight children, and he was charged with domestic violence and drug offenses two years later.
And in 2012, Flav was arrested after an argument when he threatened his partner’s teenage son with a knife.
Women’s Aid spokeswoman Teresa Parker said: “It is disappointing that someone with a long track record of domestic abuse is being considered for a much-loved prime time programme.
“We need to be careful about who we are celebrating in these shows.”
Other star’s in the frame for this year’s series – which is set to return to screens next month – include Fred Siriex and Danielle Harold.

Nikita Kanda leaves Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Nikita Kanda has been voted off ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 28-year-old broadcaster and her professional partner Gorka Marquez have become the second couple to leave the BBC show, after finding themselves in the dance-off against Zara McDermott.
Following her exit, Nikita said: “I don’t want to leave yet – I feel like I’ve let [Gorka] down.
“I’ve had the best time and I love all my ‘Strictly’ family, I’m going to miss you all. This has been a dream come true, I’m so grateful.
“I’ve got to say the biggest thank you to Gorka, he has been the biggest support and I’ve had the best time ever.”
Gorka, on the other hand, admitted to being very proud of his dance partner.
The 33-year-old star also revealed that he had a lot of fun during the show.
He said: “I am beyond proud of her. For someone that doesn’t have any dance experience or performance experience to come on this show and dance in front of millions of people for three weeks, I think it’s incredible.
“You should be very proud of yourself, you have never let me down and I am very proud of you.
“This show is going to teach you so many things about yourself that you can take with you and I take incredible memories. I’ve never laughed so much in three weeks than I did with you!”
All four judges – Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas – ultimately opted to save Zara.
Craig said: “The couple I’d like to save had both technique and theatricality, and that couple is Zara and Graziano.”
Meanwhile, Anton admitted that Nikita and Gorka made some “small mistakes” during their routine.
He said: “Unfortunately there were a couple of small mistakes from one of the couples, so the couple I would like to save is Zara and Graziano.”

Brian Dowling thinks he’s been ‘erased’ from Big Brother history: ‘It would be nice to be included!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Brian Dowling feels that some people are trying to “erase” his history with ‘Big Brother’.
The 45-year-old presenter shot to fame when he won the second series of the Channel 4 reality show in 2001 and later replaced Davina McCall as host when it moved to Channel 5 before passing the baton to Emma Willis but as the ITV1 revival got underway on Sunday (08.10.23) evening, he claimed his association with fronting the programme has been forgotten altogether.
He wrote on Instagram: “Tonight is the night and some may even say, the long-awaited return of ‘Big Brother’. I’ve posted so much stuff on here over the years regarding winning ‘Big Brother’ in 2001 and also winning ‘Ultimate Big Brother’ in 2010 both of these opportunities 100% changed my life. I have the ABSOLUTE BEST MEMORIES EVER as a housemate. I then went on to host the show for six seasons, the first man to host Big Brother!
It’s so odd looking back at myself with no beard I think just over 8 Million people tuned in to watch the first live show. We had some INCREDIBLE HOUSEMATES.
From crowning Luke Anderson the winner to ICONS like Denise Welch, Julian Clary, Heidi and Spencer and of course Rylan I was only 33 years old when I was offered the job of hosting the main show. I, of course, said yes, even though it was the spin-off show I wanted and not the main show. But I would have been a fool to turn it down. Speaking honestly, I always feel some people like to change history and try and erase the fact I hosted the show directly after Davina and then it went to Emma.”
The ‘Real Housewives of Cheshire’ host went on to add that even as recently as last week, new hosts AJ Odudo and Will Best had been interviewed about the reboot and noted that his name did not come up at all during the segment.
He added: “Just recently, on Friday’s This Morning, for example. The new hosts of Big Brother AJ and Will were being interviewed and noted that his name was not mentioned at all during the segmen
were asked if they had spoken to ” Emma and Davina” obviously as the ex hosts and then their pics were brought up on screen. Yet again, there wasn’t even a mention of my time hosting, or even anyone on the production team that would have at least flagged that I was also an ex-presenter. It would have been so lovely to have been included, or to even get a thumbs up from my peers would be INCREDIBLE. I find it so odd that this keeps happening.”
Brian is now married to Arthur Gourounlian and went on to add that he goes into “much more detail” about his time on the show in a new book and the “impact” it had on him but signed off by wishing the new hosts the “best of luck” for the series.
He added: “Arthur and I have our book coming out on the 26th of October this month and I go into much more detail surrounding this time of my life as the host of ‘Big Brother’ and the aftermath and the impact it had on my life. I think AJ is a FABULOUS choice as a host. I don’t know Will, but he seems like a lot of fun. I would like to wish them both the best of luck as the new hosts.

Robert Redford turned down The Way We Were

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Redford initially turned down the chance to star opposite Barbra Streisand in classic movie ‘The Way We Were’.
The 1973 romantic drama was a box office success and went on to win two Academy Awards, but Redford almost missed out on the chance to be Streisand’s leading man as he turned down the part of Hubbell Gardiner twice before eventually being persuaded to join the project.
In an extract from her new memoir ‘My Name Is Barbra’ published by Vanity Fair, the singer/actress wrote: “He turned it down … [He] was concerned that the script was so focused on [Streisand’s character] Katie that Hubbell’s character was underdeveloped.”
She explained the actor expressed his concerns about the character to director Sydney Pollack: “Bob asked Sydney, ‘Who is this guy? He’s just an object … He doesn’t want anything. What does this guy want? In Bob’s opinion, he was ‘shallow and one-dimensional. Not very real.’
“I wanted Bob to be happy, so I told Sydney, ‘Give him anything he wants. Write more scenes to strengthen his character. Make it equal.’
“So Sydney hired two excellent writers, David Rayfiel and Alvin Sargent, to beef up Bob’s part and go deeper, beneath that golden-boy exterior. And I told [producer Ray Stark] Ray to pay him whatever he wanted.”
After the script was re-written, Redford turned down the part once again and Streisand revealed negotiations went “down to the wire”.
However, she finally got some good news while she was in Africa working on 1972 movie ‘Up the Sandbox’ when a telegram arrived emblazoned with the words “Barbra Redford!”
The 81-year-old actress explained: “That’s when I knew he’d finally said yes … and I was so thrilled. The courtship had been tough, but Bob’s reluctance had a big influence on the script and ultimately resulted in a richer, more interesting character.”

Greta Gerwig would stand behind the audience at Barbie showings: ‘I controlled the volume!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Greta Gerwig stood behind the audience at some showings of ‘Barbie’.
The 40-year-old filmmaker wrote and directed the smash hit comedy starring Margot Robbie as the iconic Mattel doll and explained that after it was released in cinemas, she would go round to various theatres while it was playing and even took control of the volume on occasion.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “I went around to different theatres and sort of stood in the back, and would then also turn up the volume up if I felt it wasn’t playing at the perfect level.”
Greta went on to add that she has been “incredibly moved” by the reception of the film, which has seen it become the highest-grossing film of 2023, Warner Bros.’ highest-grossing film of all time and the highest-grossing film by a solo female director.
She said: “It’s like this incredible sense of ‘the song that it’s in my heart is in other people’s hearts. It’s been incredibly moving.”
The ‘Little Women’ director also teased that she is working on her next project but remained coy when it came to explaining exactly what that may be although she is struggling with nightmares.
She said: “I’m in the writing process and it’s hard because I’m having recurring nightmares!”
Greta recently explained that she enjoys writing scripts but often finds it to be a “painful” experience.
Greta – who enjoyed success of an actress before she switched her focus to film-making – told Deadline: “Writing is the thing I most enjoy having done but it feels painful when I’m doing it. Writing is painful to me in a deep way.
“You’re by yourself and it’s quiet. Every voice you’ve ever had in your head that says ‘you’re not very good’ is loud.”
Greta also revealed that she doesn’t plan to act in her own films.
She shared: “I like being in the hands of the director and giving them what they want. That’s why I’ve never acted in my films and never want to. I like giving over. I would deny the pleasure of both things if I did that.”

Richard Madeley defends Phillip Schofield over ‘savage’ This Morning axe

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Madeley has slammed Phillip Schofield’s “savage” and “brutal” dismissal from ‘This Morning’.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ host is still in touch with the 61-year-old presenter – who left the ITV daytime show in May after over 20 years following the revelation he’d had an extra-marital affair with a younger male assistant on the programme – and has offered him words of support in the wake of the scandal.
He told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “I feel very sorry for Phillip – it seemed a pretty savage outcome after 21 years [in the job].
“It seemed quite brutal to be honest. I took a paternal interest in it – I kept in touch, told him to take it easy and that it’ll be all right.
“He agreed. All things pass in the end.
“We’ve all been through terrible experiences and the worst ones are the phones that come out of a clear blue sky and you don’t see them coming.
“Politicians say they’re only one debate away from a catastrophe and it’s the same in our industry.”
The 67-year-old star himself hosted ‘This Morning’ from 1988 to 2001 alongside wife Judy Finnegan and enjoyed guest stints back on the sofa in 2019 and 2020, but he’s ruled out making a permanent return to take over permanently from Phillip.
He said: “I enjoyed it but wouldn’t go back.”
In the wake of his departure, Phillip admitted he had “massive guilt” over his fling, but was adamant that nothing inappropriate had occurred despite the age gap.
In an interview with The Sun, he said: “There are accusations of all sorts of things. It never came across that way (an abuse of power) because we’d become mates. I don’t know about that.
“But of course I understand that there will be a massive judgment, but bearing in mind, I have never exercised that anywhere else.
“I assume somebody, somewhere, assumed something was going on, correctly, and didn’t say anything.
“At the time I did not think about it possibly ruining my career. I really probably only thought about it when I saw the rumour mill, and saw it growing.
“Then I saw the link with the drama school photo all those years before, and thought, ‘This looks shocking.’
“But I didn’t lie to protect my career, he didn’t want his name in public. He wanted his own life.
“The lies grew bigger and bigger and bigger and it was affecting both of us deeply.
“It got to the stage where it was out of control and for whatever cost, it had to stop.
“I have massive guilt, and regret. I’ve made a mistake, I’ve had an affair at work.”

Gareth Edwards ‘worked backwards’ making The Creator

OHMYGOSSIP — Gareth Edwards “worked backwards” making ‘The Creator’ by scouting futuristic-looking locations and building the film around them.
The moviemaker has admitted he took a more budget-friendly approach to special effects when putting the blockbuster together – admitting the team didn’t start designing the sci-fi world until they had finished shooting on location and had started post-production.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he explained: “It harkens back to ‘Monsters’, my first film, where we had very little money. We traveled around the world, found amazing locations, invented scenes to some extent and reverse engineered the film. We kind of worked backwards. So I wanted to do that with a Hollywood budget and using people at Industrial Light and Magic. I thought that would be a really super exciting way to make a film.”
He added: “We went to eight different countries around the world. We traveled 10,000 miles, and we went to the Himalayas, Indonesian volcanoes and floating villages in Thailand, et cetera. We shot all these different scenes from the film, and then in post-production, I hit screen grab on my laptop and gave those images to people like [production designer] James Clyne and Industrial Light Magic.”
He insisted the technique was much more efficient, adding: “Halfway through the edit, that’s when we started designing the world, and it was much more efficient. We didn’t do anything outside of the frame. Everything is a hundred percent on screen, and we didn’t build sets or do things that never ended up in the movie. ”
One example he gave was a scene set in an underground lab, which they filmed in a particle accelerator in Thailand revealing it took the place of an expensive custom-built set and they only needed to change “20 or 30 percent” during the editing process.
He concluded: “It’s more creative, easier and cheaper, and I don’t want to go back to the other way of doing a big film, if I can help it.”

Cate Blanchett leads Rumors cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Cate Blanchett has joined the cast of ‘Rumors’.
The ‘Tar’ actress is set to start shooting Guy Maddin’s upcoming movie on 9 October after the director signed an interim agreement with SAG-AFTRA to allow the 54-year-old star to appear in the project without breaching Hollywood actor strike restrictions, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed.
The independent movie has been written and will be directed by the ‘Keyhole’ filmmaker with his longtime collaborators Evan and Galen Johnson.
Meanwhile, Cate recently joked she is always “trying to get out” of acting so enjoyed producing her film ‘The New Boy’, which was released earlier this year,
She said at her Kering Women in Motion talk at the Cannes Film Festival: “I’m always trying to get out of acting. I’ve been trying to stop acting my entire professional life.”
Cate was in conversation with her producing partner, Coco Francini, and added their recent producing work behind the lens felt like “an extension, for me, of my work as an actor”.
The Australian star also recalled how she was once advised to stop taking small roles even though she found them more interesting than the lead.
She said: “I remember an Australian film director saying to me really early on in my career that I had to stop taking small roles.
“And I said, ‘Why?’ I said, ‘That was the most interesting role.’ I didn’t want to play the lead. I want that one.”
“It’s about the conversation. And sometimes that conversation involves me being in front of the lens, and sometimes it’s back behind being a little bit too bossy sometimes from behind.
“The facilitation is equally as creative… I’m as interested in the development process as I am in the process of shooting it, and then I’m really interested in the post process right through to distribution and marketing.”
