Gyles Brandreth reveals he once twerked in a lift with Miley Cyrus

OHMYGOSSIP — Gyles Brandreth once twerked in a lift with Miley Cyrus.
The 75-year-old TV star met pop superstar Miley – who won her first Grammy Award on Sunday (04.02.24) for her megahit ‘Flowers’ – shortly after she had finished playing the title role in the Disney Channel series ‘Hannah Montana’ and adopted a far more risque image in which she had become known her squatting and provocatively thrusting her hips and he insisted on re-creating the move with her.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, he said: “I’m a Miley Cyrus groupie, I met her some years ago. She got a lot of publicity yesterday because of her extraordinary hairstyle. On Friday, I told you that I’d been stuck in a lift with Michael Jackson. Well. I’m here to tell you today that I was once stuck in a lift with Miley Cyrus.
“A building at the BBC, I was in the lift, the one on the left-hand side going up. And it stopped.
“I thought ‘This is Miley Cyrus, this is my chance to twerk!’ and she very courteously twerked back. It was quite a small twerk, but she definitely twerked!”
The ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’ star – who has been married to Michèle Brown since 1973 – watched the ceremony with his wife and joked that neither of them knew who many of the acts who performed were but admitted that in the end there was something for people of all ages.
He said: “My wife and I, we watched the Grammys and it was basically ‘Who, who, who? Oh, Joni Mitchell!’ This was good though because it was multigenerational, there was something for everybody!”
Upon scooping Record of the Year for ‘Flowers’, Miley – who earlier in the evening had also won Best Pop Solo Performance for the same song – stressed her life was “beautiful” even without any trophies.
She said: “Thank you all so much. This award is amazing but I really hope it doesn’t change anything because my life was beautiful yesterday. “Not everyone in the world will get a Grammy, but everyone in this world is spectacular so please don’t think this is important. Even though it’s very important, right guys?
“We’re very excited.
“I want to thank everyone standing on the stage right now, Tom, Tyler, Michael and Greg, our teams, my team, my mommy, my sister, my love, my main gaze because look how good I look. All the people that we love. Thank you all so much.
“I don’t think I’ve forgotten anyone… But I might have forgotten underwear! Bye.”

Linda Nolan ‘traumatised’ by losing her hair amid cancer battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Linda Nolan was left “traumatised” after losing her hair during her cancer treatment.
The 64-year-old star was initially diagnosed with stage-three breast cancer in 2005 before overcoming it a year later, but in 2017 she was told that she had a form of incurable secondary cancer, which spread to her hip in 2020, and then to her brain last year and admitted that losing her blonde locks as a result of the chemotherapy was a “big deal” for her.
Speaking at the BOLD exhibition in Piccadilly Circus, London for World Cancer Day (04.02.24), she said: “I’ve always said I was traumatised when I lost my hair. It was such a big deal for me, but this exhibition really reminds us what’s important and that’s support and solidarity.”
The BOLD exhibition featured photos by Caroline Sikkenk of women from around the world who have had to sacrifice their hair as they battle cancer and the artwork was also flashed up in Times Square in New York.
The ‘I’m In the Mood For Dancing’ singer had to travel from her hometown of Blackpool to be at the London event but insisted she “wouldn’t have missed” the chance to stand with other women going through the same ordeal.
She said: “I wouldn’t miss it. It was amazing to be part of the exhibition with all the other women who have either lost their hair, or like me, are in stages of regrowth.”
The former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ contestant – who shot to fame alongside her sisters in the 1970s as part of The Nolans – added that she had a hairdresser friend come round to shave her head and immediately went for a drink afterwards as she insisted that despite well-wishes from others, she is internally screaming at the thought of having lost her hair.
She said: “[My friend] came round and just shaved it. Then I said, ‘Get me a cap, we’re going out for a drink! People say, ‘You look great. Inside I’m screaming, ‘I just don’t want to lose my hair again!’ I was devastated at losing it.”

Nicky Campbell exits The Masked Singer

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicky Campbell has been unmasked on ‘The Masked Singer’.
The 62-year-old TV presenter has exited the ITV show, after loving his ‘Masked Singer’ experience.
Nicky – who wore the Dippy Egg outfit – told the audience: “I love the show. We watched it at home with my girls.
“I can kind of sing so when the opportunity came up, I thought, ‘Yeah, absolutely. Incredible.’ And it was.”
Nicky is a long-time friend of ‘Masked Singer’ judge Davina McCall, and the TV presenter became visibly emotional when he revealed his identity to the audience.
Davina, 56, was also surprised that she didn’t guess Nicky’s identity.
She said: “Nicky’s a friend, we’ve been working together for 13 years and I cannot believe I didn’t recognise your voice. I didn’t recognise your singing voice. I know your singing voice. This is insane!”
Nicky, on the other hand, claimed that he doesn’t know who is inside the other costumes.
He confessed: “I have not got a clue who anyone else is. You never see anything because you’ve got masks on all the time, so you can’t see a thing.
“The worst thing about being in the costume is when the lid goes on the top of Dippy Egg, and all of a sudden, it’s like you’re in a deep-sea diving suit!”
Meanwhile, later in the same episode, pop star Melody Thornton was also unmasked.
The 39-year-old Pussycat Doll revealed that she was behind the Maypole costume.
After her identity was revealed, Melody said: “I think that the thing about this show is that it’s all positive. You actually just get to have fun, and it’s been lovely bringing this character to life!”

Coronation Street legend signs huge contract ‘worth £250,000’ to help soap through ‘rocky patch’

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Worth has reportedly signed a £250,000 contract to stay on ‘Coronation Street’ for another year.
The 73-year-old actress has played Gail Platt on the ITV1 soap opera – which managed to pull in just over two million viewers on Christmas Day compared to its usual eight million – since 1974 an insider has claimed amid reports of her new deal that she is “determined” to get it through a “rough patch” ahead of her 50th anniversary on the serial.
A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Helen is dedicated to the soap and is determined to help steer it through a rocky patch.
” She is bonded to her character and is excited about her upcoming storylines for the year ahead. She still enjoys her work and seeing her castmates and crew every day.”
Before landing the role of Gail, Helen had appeared ‘in episodes of ‘Z-Cars’ and ‘Doctor Who’ but the only other role she has played since starting on the soap is that of Molly Silknose in the 1981 animation film ‘Peter-No-Tail’.
Helen is the show’s second longest-serving continuous cast member behind Bill Roache – who has played Ken Barlow since the very first episode aired on 9 December 1960 – and her character holds the record for the most marriages on the show, having been married a total of six times.
In 1979, Gail Potter married Brian Tilsley (Christopher Quinten) and had daughter Sarah Louise (Tina O’Brien) with him; the pair divorced in 1987, and remarried the following year but he died in 1989 after being stabbed outside a nightclub and later went on to have son David (Jack P. Shepherd) Martin Platt (Sean Wilson).
That marriage ended in divorce in 2001 when she discovered Martin had been having an affair with nurse Rebecca Hopkins (Jill Halfpenny) and she went on to marry serial killer Richard Hillman (Brian Capron), who died when he drove the family into the canal after killing two residents on the Street in 2003.
Gail married Joe McIntyre (Reece Dinsdale) in 2010 but he died in a boating accident later that same year whilst trying to fake his own death in an attempt to claim insurance money, and she married Michael Rodwell (Les Dennis) in 2015, only for him to suffer a fatal heart attack a year later.
Gail’s other notable storylines over the years including finding out that daughter Sarah was pregnant at the age of 13 in 1999 and dealing with letters that were supposedly being sent to her by her late husband Richard, when it turned out they were in fact being sent by her son David.
News of Helen’s contract renewal comes just weeks after it was reported that ‘Corrie’ bosses had also given Sally Dynevor and Michael Le Vell a bumper pay rise to stay on the show.
The duo have appeared on screen as Kevin Webster and Sally Metcalfe since the 1980s, and they are thought to receive £170,000 a year each for their roles, but now, it is claimed ITV has given them another big-money deal to retain their talents for another year.
A source said: “Sally and Mike are two of Corrie’s most beloved stars. Bosses were desperate to keep them and they were happy to sign. They both love the show.”

John Cena loved working with Matthew Vaughn on Argylle

OHMYGOSSIP — John Cena has fulfilled a “dream” by working with Matthew Vaughn.
The wrestler-turned-actor is part of a star-studded cast in ‘Argylle’ – which also features the likes of Dua Lipa, Henry Cavill and Bryce Dallas Howard – but John was particularly excited to work with the acclaimed director.
John, 46, told HeyUGuys: “Poor Matthew Vaughn trying to sell his concept to me, knowing that I’m already in.
“It’s a dream to be able to work with him.”
Matthew, 52, initially tried to discuss his long-term plans with John. But the Hollywood star didn’t have any hesitations about working with the director.
John shared: “I remember his pitch of like, ‘Hey, this is my idea … but in the future I see it as something exponentially bigger’.
“I was like, ‘I’ve got to stop you right there. I’m in. I don’t care what tomorrow brings. You have this idea. I love your ideas. Let’s go to work’. It was that easy.”
Matthew’s previous film credits include ‘Layer Cake’ and the ‘Kingsman’ franchise, which prompted speculation that he could direct a James Bond movie one day.
However, despite being a Bond fan, Matthew has already distanced himself from the long-running franchise.
He told the ‘Inside Total Film’ podcast: “Never say never, but I doubt it very much.
“I mean, I love Bond, Bond has been a huge influence on me as a human being, let alone as a director. But I think the Bond world is the [Barbara] Broccoli world, they’re the master of that domain and I can’t see them wanting me to be anywhere near it.”

The Traitors winner Harry Clark in talks for I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Clark could appear on this year’s edition of ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’
The 23-year-old reality star has quit his job as an army engineer after winning the latest series of BBC hit show ‘The Traitors’ and is now said to have been approached by bosses of rival network ITV, who are keen for him to join the lineup of the jungle-based reality survival show when it returns to screens later this year.
A source told The Sunday Mirror newspaper: ““’The Traitors’ was so huge this year and since they left, the finalists’ feet have barely touched the ground. All of them have been swamped and, as the winner, Harry has been at the centre of the whirlwind.
“Since the win, he has been approached by casting directors from ITV who want him to appear in the jungle this year. He would be a great get for them and he is seriously considering saying yes – it would be a really incredible opportunity.”
Harry fought off competition from 20 other contestants all vying to win up to £100,000 in the famous castle as part of the intense psychological game and when co-star Mollie Pearce wrongly thought that he was a Faithful in the hopes of the pair of them splitting the cash, he revealed that he had been a Traitor all along, meaning that he walked away with all the prize money.
Harry was congratulated by host Claudia Winkleman as he vowed to gain Mollie’s trust back somehow.
He said: “My legs are shaking, oh my, oh my God! I just won £95,000! She’s like crying and stuff. Mollie is the reason that I’m here and I need to gain her trust back. I don’t know if that’s ever gonna be possible but I’m gonna try my hardest, I promise you that!”
Harry toasted his victory with the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge over a glass of champagne and used his final confessional on the series to assure viewers that despite his status as a Traitor, he is in fact a “good person” who was motivated by his family.
“My family knows I’m a good guy so to everyone else, if you don’t think I’m a good guy, I promise you I am! I came here for my family and my loved ones. They are my motivation and the reason I go in live. I can’t wait to ring them to tell them. I feel like I can breathe, I’m just me again.
“I’m Harry again.”

Aubrey Joseph reveals why he would have done Bosco movie ‘for free’

OHMYGOSSIP — Aubrey Joseph would have starred in ‘Bosco’ “for free”.
The 26-year-old actor stars as real-life former convict Quawntay ‘Bosco’ Adams – who was sentenced to 35 years in prison for attempted possession of marijuana but managed to escape with the help of a woman he met through a lonely-hearts ad – and admitted his job was made a lot “easier” because the pair of them spent a lot of time together on set.
He told MovieWeb: “He was there every single day. That made my job a lot easier. On the first day, I felt like I was not necessarily doing the job; I felt like I was doing something that I would have done for free.
“And it was really just to tell my brother’s story because I know he was sitting behind a monitor and watching it go down… So you want to do everything in your power to make it feel as real as possible but also do it justice.”
The film also stars Nikki Blonksy – who is best known for her role as Tracy Turnblad in the 2007 musical film adaptation of Broadway hit ‘Hairspray’ – as Tammy and is directed and written by Nicholas Manuel Pino, who noted that Bosco had been “involved” in the whole process of making the film from the start, even when he was still in prison.
He said: “Even during our development process, he was involved, even while he was still in prison. Aubrey and I were talking to him 15 minutes at a time when he was able to call us… It’s not a guy who’s been dead for 100 years like Napoleon, you know? It’s a guy who’s right here.”
‘Bosco’ is available to stream now on Peacock.

“I was very concerned about Cillian’s sleep when we started shooting because I felt he had a monumental undertaking with this role.
“I thought, like, that’s a good start-of-shoot gift.

Kate Garraway to return to Good Morning Britain just days after her husband’s funeral

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Garraway is keen to “get back to work” following the death of Derek Draper.
The 56-year-old journalist lost her husband Derek in December last year when he died after a four-year battle with COVID at the age of 56 and even though the funeral took place just days ago, insiders have claimed that she will return to ITV’s breakfast show ‘Good Morning Britain’ – which she regularly hosts alongside Ben Shephard – on Monday (05.02.24) for an interview from her home before resuming her presenting duties on Thursday.
A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Kate has had an incredibly rough past couple of months, and it has taken its toll mentally and physically. But she is a workhorse, and journalism, being on live TV, runs through her blood — it’s what she knows and loves.
“Kate is keen to keep busy and get stuck back into work.
“It’s the perfect time for her to be reunited with her GMB family.
“Everyone at GMB has been hugely supportive, and are desperate to support and welcome her back into the family.”
The former GMTV presenter – who has Darcey, 17, and Billy, 14, with her late husband – has been off work since 8 December and is said to be keen to get back to some semblance of “normality” within her life, even though she has thought long and hard about coming back to work at all.
The source added: “They’re excited to have her back after so long away.
“After caring for Derek, and her family, for almost four years, Kate needs to get back to some sort of normality. And she wants to throw herself back into work, 3.45am starts and all.
“It also goes without saying that, in effect, being a full-time carer for Derek has also had a massive impact on her financial situation.
“Quite simply, she needs to work to provide for their kids, and bring stability back into their lives.
“It’s not a decision she’s taken lightly but she’s genuinely excited to get back into the studio.
“She knows she needs to bite the bullet, and now seems as good a time as any.”

Simon Cowell forced to leave Britain’s Got Talent auditions

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell had to leave ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ auditions after becoming ill.
The 64-year-old music mogul is due to return to his role as a judge on the ITV1 variety competition later this year but when filming audition rounds at the London Palladium alongside Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli, and Amanda Holden he suddenly developed a headache is said to have felt “frustrated” after leaving the set.
An insider told The Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “Simon I was due to film as normal but he started to feel unwell. After some deliberation, he told everyone he was unable to take part in filming. To say he was frustrated is an understatement. Simon loves making ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, so he was annoyed to miss it.”
According to the insider, hopefuls lining up for their chance to see the judges were left “upset” because the Syco founder is the one they want to “impress” the most on the panel.
The source added: “The hopefuls were left waiting for quite a while. Then they realised they wouldn’t be auditioning for Simon. Many of them were upset because he’s the one they want to impress.”
The incident means that the former ‘X Factor’ judge will not be seen on certain portions of the new series – which is due to air from March until June -, which has left producers at a loss as well because he is a “ratings winner” they can usually bank on.
The insider added: “Simon is a ratings winner, so it’s not ideal that he will be missing from a chunk of the footage.”
Another source claimed that Simon suffered a “severe migraine” and explained that usually wers glasses with coloured lenses in an attempt to combat the issue.
The insider told The Sun: “Simon was struck down with a severe migraine.
“He occasionally gets them and that’s why he wears glasses with coloured lenses.”

Rick Stein grimly predicts he has got ‘much longer’ left to live

OHMYGOSSIP — Rick Stein fears he isn’t going to “last that much longer” after his open heart surgery.
The TV chef, 77, had the operation at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London, in 2023 after he started to become breathless and he has now said his mortality is on his mind – but insisted he feels “optimistic” about whatever is left of his life.
He told The Times: “Having had the operation and recovered, the improvement in my health has left me tremendously optimistic.
“Even though at my age and with the normal realities of life I’m not going to last that much longer.
“I think as long as you’ve got your health and you’re optimistic generally and enjoying your life, you don’t tend to ponder too much about how little life you’ve got left.”
Rick – who is married to wife Sarah and has three sons with first wife Jill Newstead – was told to get his heart operation by doctor after it was found his aorta wasn’t working properly.
He previously told the Daily Mail about going under the knife: “It was scary before I went into the operation.
“Afterwards you realise if you had died you wouldn’t have noticed, because you were under the anaesthetic.
“An operation like that stops you in your tracks and makes you think about who you are.
“It’s time to review your life. You’ve been through a very life-threatening experience.
“The surgeon says it’s no more dangerous than the appendix these days, but to have your heart taken out, repaired and put back in, personally I’d say that’s big!”

The host is said to have racked up medical bills of more than £1 million while acting as a full-time carer for Derek.
She was seen fighting tears at his funeral the Church of St Mary the Virgin in Primrose Hill, north London – the place where the couple wed in 2005.
The couple’s children, Darcey, 17, and Billy, 14, laid flowers saying “we love you Dad”, while Darcey was one of the pallbearers.
