Rachel McAdams meditates by stitching

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel McAdams found it “meditative” to practice stitches on the set of ‘Doctor Strange’.
The 38-year-old actress plays Dr. Christine Palmer opposite Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular character in the new Marvel adventure and she learned a lot from real-life medics as part of her research for the role, particularly enjoying sewing wounds together.
She said: “My mum was a nursee and I just don’t posess that gene so I was always fascinated. It’s a job that takes so much guts.
“I shadowed a really great female neurosurgeon in Toronto and one in London, who taught me how to do stitches. It was very meditative, like knitting.
“When I was bored on set, I would just pull out my … stitching wire. I don’t even know what it’s called, some doctor I am. But I would practise and it was great to jump into another world.”
One of Rachel’s favourite things about her career is getting the chance to glimpse at others’ lives and careers in her research for her characters.
She said: “I think it’s the thing I love most about my job, that you get to live so many lives in one lifetime.
“I have a bit of ADD when it comes to things, so variety is the spice of life for me.”
But the blonde beauty also enjoyed the “weird” experience of working with so much special effects and CGI.
She told LOOK magazine: “When I read one of the scenes, I was simultaneously daunted and excited because it was like nothing I’d ever seen before.
“It was fresh and different and weird. It was like choreographing a dance. And Benedict was actually there for a lot of it, up on wires, flying around the room for hours on end.”

Honey G's unique performance for X Factor's disco week

OHMYGOSSIP — Honey G put her unique spin on a disco classic on ‘The X Factor’ on Saturday evening (12.11.16).
The controversial contestant performed an unusual rendition of The Bee Gees’ hit ‘Stayin’ Alive’, complete with her infamous rap and earned a standing ovation from the judges.
Nicole Scherzinger admitted Honey was her “guilty pleasure”, comparing her to a banoffee pie.
She said: “I am scared of you because you’re actually getting better and better each week. Simon has said it before but now you’re my guilty pleasure.”
Whilst Simon Cowell added: “I don’t think I would have actually sang or rapped the ‘Stayin’ Alive’ part.
“But no matter what the theme or the song is, you always give it 100 per cent. You’re the most unique person I’ve ever had on any of these shows.”
Meanwhile, the performances from Simon’s girls – Sam Lavery and Emily Middlemas – caused a row to erupt between the judges as the three of them sided against Simon.
Critiquing Emily’s performance of ‘Wishing On A Star’, Louis said: “I didn’t think it was good enough and I blame Simon.”
Whilst Nicole added: “You did a great job but I have to blame this on Simon because the production just swallowed you up.”
After being told to shut up by Simon, Louis stood up to make his point and argued that the music mogul was “playing it safe”.
However, Simon urged his act to just ignore the others’ comments, telling her: “Emily, forget what they said. You can just be an entertainer and you can sing songs or you can make yourself an artist. What else do you want her to do, cartwheels, Louis?”
But he was in for a shock when Emily agreed with the other judges and told him she wants to do “something more upbeat and show her personality”.
And Sam was criticised for her slowed down rendition of ‘I Will Survive’ with Sharon admitting she would have liked to see another side to Sam.
She told the talent hopeful: “You sang it well. I do want to see another side of you. I want to see you using the stage. You were sassy with the song but I want to see another side of you.”
Elsewhere, Saara Aalto opened the show with a stunning rendition of ‘No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)’.
The ‘X Factor’ continues on Sunday evening (13.11.16) on ITV.

Ed Balls leaves judges speechless on Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Balls left the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judges speechless by performing a salsa to ‘Gangnam Style’ on Saturday night’s (12.11.16) show.
The 49-year-old politician left the BBC One judges – Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, Darcey Bussell and Craig Revel Horwood – unable to form any sentences to describe his and professional partner Katya Jones’ high-energy performance to the hit track, for which he received a standing ovation from the studio audience.
Head judge Len said: “I don’t think there’s words in the dictionary to describe that.
“There is always a sense of anticipation, far more than any other couple, when you come on stage. It is so entertaining. If you don’t make it to Blackpool, the show will lose a lot of fun.”
Whilst Darcey added: “That, without fail, will go down in Strictly history.”
Craig is known best for giving critical comments to the contestants but even he couldn’t find the words.
He said simply: “3 letters, darling – O. M. G.”
Meanwhile, Ore Oduba and Joanne Clifton came back with a fight with a rumba to ‘Ordinary People’ after finding themselves in the bottom two last week.
Bruno told them: “I love the tonality you give through your dance. You have this way of expressing the music through your body. Beautiful, my darlings.”
And Ore couldn’t help but get emotional as he admitted he loved being on the show and wanted to get to Blackpool next week.
Judge Robert Rinder showed another side to him this week with a stunning foxtrot to ‘You Make Me Feel So Young’ and a tribute to his grandparents.
Darcey told him and his partner: “You improve each week and I can see the effort and time you take to study. You really stretched yourself. You have done a great great job. You are becoming a real dancer.”
And Daisy Lowe kicked off the show with a 70s-themed salsa to ‘Groove Is In The Heart’, with the judges praising her ability to carry on even after a small mistake.
Len shared: “Who better to give us flower power than Daisy. There was a little mistake but you carried on. Well done to you!”
Whilst Bruno added: “What a tasty salsa. I’m sure Mary Berry would approve! I have to point out the difficulty of some of those lifts, which is why you had a little mistake.”
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ results will be broadcasted on Sunday evening (13.11.16) on BBC One before the remaining contestants head to the legendary Blackpool ballroom next weekend.

Danniella Westbrook suing reality TV show for 750k

OHMYGOSSIP — Danniella Westbrook is suing the makers of ‘Celebrity Botched Up Bodies’ for £750,000.
The former ‘EastEnders’ star was rushed to hospital in August with septicaemia and claims dental implants she had fitted on the show are the cause.
She told The Sun: “I’m suing the makers of ‘Celebrity Botched Up Bodies’ for £750,000 to cover lost earnings.
I’ve had sleepless nights and crying about the state my teeth are in.
“Sometimes you want to go out for dinner and have a great big bit of steak but I can’t do that – I’ll probably bite in to it and [the implant] will be stuck in the meat.”
Meanwhile, the 43-year-old actress revealed three months ago that she had to have all of her gnashers removed after contracting the illness.
She said at the time: “I’ve been in hospital. I’ve had to have all my teeth removed for a blood and bone infection, through no fault of my own. I’m not on drugs and I’m not pregnant … I’m just very poorly with a blood infection.”
Septicaemia is a type of blood poisoning, which is caused by bacteria, and can prove fatal if left untreated.
Urgent medical care at hospital is required to stop the infection progressing into sepsis, which occurs when the body’s immune system goes into overdrive and can reduce the blood supply to vital organs such as the brain and heart.

I'm A Celeb secret sex cave

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ bosses have built a secret sex cave for contestants.
Producers of the ITV show have added a cave next to the jungle shower and reportedly hope that the celebrities will be tempted to get frisky and spice up the show.
Producer Oli Nash told the Daily Mirror: “Next door to the shower is a secret cave which will be hidden behind a locked door. It will be used a number of times throughout the series for our celebrities.
“Inside it is just a plain cave with a bench but we will be using it throughout the series for various events. The floors a bit hard – but it can be used for romance.”
A source added: “The celebrities won’t know it is there and some of them will be sent into the cave when they least expect it. Some of them may be put together and others may have to do trials on their own. It is going to make for brilliant TV.”
The only single celebrities in the jungle this year are Carol Vorderman, 55, and Joel Dommett, 30, and he recently admitted he loves older women.
He said: “When I was 22 I dated a 34 year old. It was very exciting. I think it’s just nice because older ladies they’re sorted. They’ve sorted their life.
“But dating anyone that’s older than you it means it’s just nice cause they’ve got their s**t together and it’s taken them a while and they know what they want.
“And it’s lovely.”
Meanwhile, before they entered the jungle, celebrities were sorted into teams by “walking the plank” 32 storeys high.
A tweet from contestant Jordan Banjo said: “The bad news was that he had to walk a plank 32 storeys up in the air!! The good news is Jords got his team!”

Ewan McGregor almost didn't take on Star Wars role

OHMYGOSSIP — Ewan McGregor almost didn’t accept a role in ‘Star Wars’.
The 45-year-old actor played Obi-Wan Kenobi in ‘Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace’ but admitted he struggled with the decision to take on the role because he worried it was too mainstream for him.
He told the Telegraph magazine: “‘Star Wars’ is ‘Star Wars’, it’s something I grew up with as a kid. At first, I was very reluctant to do it, because I saw myself as this urban, grungy actor doing films about heroin and stuff, and that’s who I felt like I really was. But the nearer I got to it, the more I wanted to do it: and it wasn’t for money reasons, because it was back in the day I got paid nicely for it, but it wasn’t ridiculous by any means. It was to do with being in it and it didn’t feel like Hollywood. George Lucas hated Hollywood he was in San Francisco following the beat of his own drum.”
Ewan also revealed he felt betrayed by ‘Trainspotting’ director Danny Boyle when he cast Leonardo DiCaprio in the beach instead of him.
He said: “I felt at that time that as an actor I was part of the new wave of something. I was lucky to be Danny’s actor, and I felt part of something that was bigger than all our careers with ‘Shallow Grave’ and ‘Trainspotting’ less so, perhaps, with ‘A Life Less Ordinary’. I felt we’d left our mark on British cinema.
“So when we were approaching ‘The Beach’, I thought I was playing that role and I was encouraged to think so; I was told for many months I would be doing it; and then I was told I wouldn’t. And I was mystified and it had been handled badly, and whatever. But it hurt me very much at the time. I was rocked a bit, and my confidence was dented. And I didn’t quite understand why they went down that path when I thought we were about something else. I understood when it came down to dollars. But it was a Hollywood version of something we weren’t really about.”

Keira Knightley: We have to do something about the Hollywood pay gap

OHMYGOSSIP — Keira Knightley has turned down roles “many times” because of the Hollywood pay gap.
The ‘Begin Again’ actress thinks it is “s**t” that male actors are paid so much more than their female co-stars and won’t consider taking on a project if she finds out her salary is lower than the men in the cast.
She told Grazia magazine: “The Hollywood pay gap is ridiculous and we have to do something about it.
“I’ve turned down jobs many times because of it. It’s s**t.”
Keira’s comments come shortly after Mila Kunis wrote an empassioned piece about the discrimination she has experienced in Hollywood because of her gender.
She said: “Throughout my career, there have been moments when I have been insulted, sidelined, paid less, creatively ignored, and otherwise diminished based on my gender. And always, I tried to give people the benefit of the doubt; maybe they knew more, maybe they had more experience, maybe there was something I was missing …
“I’m done compromising; even more so, I’m done with being compromised. So from this point forward, when I am confronted with one of these comments, subtle or overt, I will address them head on; I will stop in the moment and do my best to educate. I cannot guarantee that my objections will be taken to heart, but at least now I am part of creating an environment where there is the opportunity for growth. And if my comments fall on deaf ears, I will choose to walk away.”
Emma Watson has also spoken about the issue, admitting she used to worry about talking about it because she feared she’d be branded “a diva, spoilt or difficult”.
And Rooney Mara thinks Hollywood is “having the wrong conversation” about the gender pay gap as she thinks the discussion should be about “why” rather than just stating the situation.
She shared: “I think that we’re having the wrong conversation. The conversation isn’t we’re not getting paid as much as men.
“The conversation should be why and where does that come from because it’s just a side effect of something much greater.”
The issue of the gender pay gap in Hollywood has been a hot topic of conversation ever since hacked Sony emails revealed Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams had been paid less for their roles in ‘American Hustle’ than their male co-stars.

Honey G's drug confession

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘X Factor’s Honey G previously battled drug addiction.
The 35-year-old rapper says she became addicted to narcotics after being kidnapped and sexually assaulted when she was at university.
She told The Sun: “I have struggled with addiction. I have nothing to hide. I did do some class A drugs like cocaine and I did pills.
“The thing about me is there is actually a story behind me and my life. It’s not like, ‘Hi I’ve just turned up on X Factor’.
“I’ve been a musician my entire life and I’ve been through real experiences. I’m totally real, hardcore and I have experienced things that are real.
“I do not do Class A drugs any more. A pill, a bit of coke, I would not touch that nowadays. I was still doing a bit of coke but I don’t touch it now.”
After Honey G’s confession, ‘X Factor’ bosses questioned her about her drug use and issued a statement.
Spokesman Rick Behari said: “We’ve spoken to Honey and she’s assured us she has not taken drugs while being on the show.”
Meanwhile, Honey G – whose real name is Anna Gilford – recently slammed Little Mix star Jesy Nelson after she recently claimed the rapper is an actress and her inclusion on the show is all an act.
Honey fumed: “I mean literally that’s one of the most ridiculous things that I’ve ever heard.
“It’s annoying and obviously it’s quite insulting to be called an actress.
“I’ve been a musician the whole of my life.
“I’ve got a musical background, I’ve got a degree from one of the best universities for music production.
“I’ve been rapping and producing for about 15 years. I’m also involved closely with BBC Radio 1Xtra which is the UK’s biggest black music radio station.
“So yeah, she needs her head checked because she doesn’t really know what she’s chatting about.”

David Oyelowo wants boxing movie role

OHMYGOSSIP — David Oyelowo has “very real ambitions” to star in a boxing movie.
The 40-year-old actor currently has a movie about fighter Sugar Ray Robinson in development, and though it is a role he’d love, he’s still unsure whether he’ll take it on or remain behind the camera.
He said: “I have very real ambitions of playing a boxer.
“Whether I get to play him – or, I should say, whether I choose to play him or end up just producing that one – that’s something that remains to be seen.”
David famously played Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in ‘Selma’ and thinks the key to the movie’s success was its director, Ava DuVernay.
He said: “That film really taught me something about perspective. The perspective that Ava had meant I saw the female characters become more three-dimensional.
“I saw Dr. King become not just a political figure but an emotional human being. Having a character that went through Ava DuVernay’s female, African-American and incredibly talented perspective meant a much richer character and a much better film.”
David’s grandfather was the king of a part of Nigeria and though he never experienced much of royal life, he thinks his background made him more confident.
He told Esquire magazine: “I’ve never felt subservient or in any way lesser than anyone around me.
“Despite having a fairly working- to middle-class upbringing, the notion of being royalty psychologically definitely does something to you that you go into your life in a more self-posessed state.”

Honey G singing Stayin' Alive for X Factor disco week

OHMYGOSSIP — Honey G will perform the ‘Stayin’ Alive’ as part of disco week on ‘The X Factor’.
In a week which has seen the rapper ‘killed off’ in hoax rumours she has chosen to cover the Bee Gees classic hit from the 1977 movie ‘Saturday Night Fever’ – which starred John Travolta as dancefloor lothario Tony Manero – in what can be interpreted as an ironic nod to the reports.
Honey G announced her song in a video message posted on her Twitter account and urged her fans to vote for her again this weekend and keep on track to win Simon Cowell’s talent show.
She said: “Yo, yo, yo this is Honey G. I’ve just come out of my vocal coaching … This weekend I’m going to be performing ‘Stayin’ Alive’ by the Bee Gees so make sure you get ready to vote for Honey G to win ‘The X Factor’.”
Elsewhere, Saara Aalto will take on Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer’s ‘No More Tears (Enough is Enough)’ in a bid to avoid being in the bottom two again.
Emily Middlemas is to sing Rose Royce’s ‘Wishing on a Star’, whilst her boyfriend Ryan Lawrie will put his spin on Wild Cherry’s ‘Play that Funky Music’.
Sam Lavery once again takes on a karaoke favourite by picking Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’, and Matt Terry is lending his dulcet tones to girl group The Emotions’ ‘Best of My Love’ – which was written by Earth, Wind & Fire’s Maurice White and Al McKay and was a 1977 hit.
And Earth, Wind & Fire and The Emotions will feature on disco week for a second time when boy band 5 After Midnight – Kieran Alleyne, Jordan Lee and Nathan Lewis – cover their 1979 monster hit ‘Boogie Wonderland’.
However, the trio have endured a tough week as Kieran has been sick and had to have Wednesday (09.11.16) off from rehearsals for bed rest.
A tweet posted on the official 5 After Midnight Twitter account read: “Feel so sick today!! – Kieran.”
‘The X Factor’ airs on Saturday night (12.11.16) at 8pm on ITV.

Rosario Dawson to portray activist Donna Hylton in new film

OHMYGOSSIP — Rosario Dawson is to portray women’s rights activist Donna Hylton in new film ‘A Little Piece Of Light’.
The ‘Seven Pounds’ actress has been cast in the lead role and will play Donna when she is an adult in the harrowing true life story.
The movie – base on the biography of the same name – will focus on Donna’s upbringing in Jamaica before she was sold by her mother to an American couple living in New York when she was seven.
Her adoptive father was a paedophile and he sexually abused her over a number of years and Donna would hide in closets to escape him but when she saw a chink of light come into her room she knew he had entered to assault her.
When she was a 19 year old track and field star Donna was arrested for her part in the kidnapping and murder of a Rikers Island real estate agent and she was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison, spending the majority of her incarceration in solitary confinement, however, after her release in 2012 she became a prominent women’s rights campaigner.
Rosario, 37, announced her new role on Twitter, posting: “Thank you so much love! Proud to represent my dear friend and incredibly inspiring activist and advocate @DonnaHylton! #ALittlePieceOfLight (sic)”
Although Rosario has been cast in the movie, no director or screenwriter are in place yet, but both jobs are set to go to women.
Dan Pearson, who is responsible for the rights to Hylton’s life story through his D4 Entertainment company and will be getting the project to the big screen, told Deadline: “We are all looking for the right female screenwriter and director for ‘A Little Piece Of Light’. This is a project for women, by women, of women.”

Labyrinth star Jennifer Connelly remembers 'hero' David Bowie

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Connelly admits David Bowie became a “hero” to her when they made ‘Labyrinth’.
The 45-year-old actress played teenager Sarah in the 1986 cult fantasy film – one of her first major roles – alongside the late singer who played the Goblin King and she has nothing but fond memories of working with David on director Jim Henson’s film which contained an amazing array of puppets.
In an interview with the Metro newspaper, she shared: “It was very sad. I have wonderful memories of working with Bowie and making that movie. In those days, they really did build those sets and those puppets – it was an extraordinary place to be for someone who was just 14. I had a ball making that movie and David Bowie was a big part of it, he really became a hero of mine. He made everyone feel respected and appreciated.”
The ‘American Pastoral’ star has also opened up on how she used to feel “intimidated” by some of the big stars, such as Dennis Hopper, she worked with as a teenage actress.
She said: “I knew who Dennis Hopper was. I was 17 and I was aware of his legend. And I also knew about Muppet creator Jim Henson when I worked with him because of his age. I remember being really intimidated when I was a little kid and I remember I had to audition with Robert De Niro and being nervous. I was certainly aware I just took it more in my stride then.”

Snow throws Emmerdale filming into chaos

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Emmerdale’ bosses have been forced to make last-minute changes to the script after the set was hit by a snow blizzard.
Filming for the long-running soap, which is shot in Leeds, has been thrown into chaos this week after temperatures plummeted and the village was covered with a blanket of white flakes.
Steve Halliwell – who plays Zak Dingle in the ITV show – told the Radio Times Online: “There was meant to be snow starting in the end scene in a depressing way, but we’ve just shot the first scene of the Christmas episode and it’s already covered in snow. We’ve had to adapt it so that there was already snow. We had bought a lot of artificial snow to use this afternoon!”
However, the flurry of winter weather also wreaked havoc for the cast, as Gemma Atkinson – who plays Carly Hope – struggled to get to Yorkshire from Manchester due to the bad conditions.
Taking to her Instagram account earlier this week, the 31-year-old beauty uploaded a photograph of the picturesque set.
She wrote: “@emmerdale Village looking lovely today. A nightmare to get to from Manchester this morning mind you scenery looks like a Christmas card cover (sic).”
Despite the disruption, bosses have assured fans filming for the show will still go ahead – even if they have to rejig episodes.
Christmas in the Dales is expected to be as explosive as ever and bosses have teased the Dingles will be centre of the action.
A source said recently: “It’s fair to say that it won’t be a happy Christmas for a lot of the villagers.”

Ore Oduba practices dance moves in the shower

OHMYGOSSIP — Ore Oduba has been practising his dance moves in the shower.
The sports presenter is determined to do all he can to lift the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ glitterball trophy next month so, as well as the eight hours a day he spends rehearsing in the studio, he’s taken up twirling around while he has his daily wash.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: “The place I really dance like no-one’s watching is in the shower. There’s music going on in my head and I’m twirling around and trying out my moves. Make what you will of the image that’s conjured up.”
And it’s not just his dance moves that have improved over the past two months, as his waistline is also shaping up.
The 29-year-old hunk has managed to lose 11lbs over the past six weeks but doesn’t understand how as, in between rehearsals, he’s been gorging on calorific treats.
He said recently: “A lot of people mentioned weight loss before I started doing it, so I started eating early in anticipation of the dancing. So I put on a little extra. I’ve lost nearly a stone in the time since I got back from the Olympics [in Rio in August] – from just being active, and dancing. Practising for jive week, it just fell off. It was the most we’d sweated and the most we worked.
“(But one day I got through) three bags of Haribo [sweets], two bacon and egg sandwiches, a chicken and bacon sandwich and an entire Thai meal for one.”
And it seems Ore’s bad habits are rubbing off on his professional partner Joanne Clifton because she’s also been demolishing high-carb grub.
The blonde star – who is a former world ballroom champion – explained: “When I used to complete I was on a strict sports diet, but when you’re training for eight hours a day you burn it off anyway.”
However, her parents – former world champions Keith and Judy Clifton – aren’t impressed with her diet and gave her a telling off after she admitted live on air on the show’s spin-off ‘It Takes Two’ that she regularly munches on sausage and mash.
She said: “I got told off by my parents. One of the questions was: ‘What do you eat before a performance?’ As a professional athlete, I should be saying: ‘I don’t eat much, a little bit of pasta.’ But I said: ‘Sausage and mash.’ ”

Richard Hammond and James May quit Top Gear 'nine minutes' after Jeremy Clarkson

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Hammond and James May took “nine minutes” to quit ‘Top Gear’ after Jeremy Clarkson’s departure.
The 56-year-old former ‘Top Gear’ host – who quit the popular BBC series last year after reportedly verbally attacking a producer – has admitted his colleagues decided they would follow suit and leave the programme moments after Jeremy confirmed he would no longer co-present the show with them.
Speaking on ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’, which will air on Saturday (12.11.16) on ITV, the television personality said: “There were nine minutes from me leaving the BBC, to Richard and James saying ‘Actually we’ll come with you.’ And they were the happiest nine minutes of my life.
“Honestly, there was never a question of [them staying at the BBC], everybody left, producers, everybody just walked out the door and then we had to get going and that’s quite complicated.”
And Jeremy – who helmed ‘Top Gear’ for 13 years since the motoring show first aired in 2002 – has revealed he only watched the “first two” episodes of the revamped series with Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc and has hinted he thinks the programme is “different” to how it used to be, although he has to accept his “baby” will change.
He explained: “This is the most political answer I’m ever going to give in my life, it’s not for me to comment on the efforts of other people in the same sphere … They were doing their thing and I watched the first two and thought ‘OK they’re doing that, we’ll carry on doing what we’re doing’. I saw the first two because then we went away, but they were doing what they were doing and now they’re going to do it again, doing it probably differently. There must be a thousand cookery shows, there’s a thousand gardening shows.
“‘Top Gear’ was very much my baby but now we have another one, it’s grown up, it’s become adolescent.”
Meanwhile Jeremy has admitted it was “incredibly difficult” to come up with a title for the new television series ‘The Grand Tour’, which he co-presents with Richard and James.
He said: “Names were incredibly difficult because every single combination of letters and numbers you can think of is already registered somewhere in the world by somebody.
“Everyone has conspiracy theories about it but no it was a pure accident. No it wasn’t.”
