Jean-Christophe Novelli told kids about cancer diagnosis

OHMYGOSSIP — Jean-Christophe Novelli’s son found out his baby brother had cancer at school.
The 55-year-old chef and his partner Michelle Kennedy, 40, were determined to keep Valentino’s battle with Neuroblastoma, a rare type of cancer which mostly affects babies and young children, a secret until they had come to terms with the diagnosis, but were forced to tell their eight-year-old son Jean the truth about his youngest sibling after his school friends started to talk about it in class.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’ on Monday (21.11.16), he said: “One day I was driving into school and my eldest said, ‘I don’t understand what is going on dad, everyone is mentioning Valentino at school.’ And then I realised that I’ve got to tell them the truth. I’ve got to tell them exactly what is going on. What cancer is. What chemo is.”
The couple – who also have four-year-old son Jacques together – saw their world fall apart two weeks ago when they were told their now-10-week-old son was diagnosed with the disease following a gruelling MRI scan and various blood tests.
He explained: “The scan experience was not going well because Valentino had difficulty to breathe. I was doing the school run and Michelle was saying that he was having like a heart attack and then when they got the scan ready, we discover this lump. We never got a straight answer and it took time to get the results and when the word tumour or cancer came up, it took about a week to find out that. And then we found out it was cancer, the next problem was what stage the cancer was at.”
Valentino was diagnosed with Stage 4S Neuroblastoma and was told doctors couldn’t operate on the lump because it was so close to his windpipe.
He is now undergoing chemotherapy but has a weakened immune system and needs 24-hour care, although Jean-Christophe thinks he’s making a vast improvement.
He said of the innocent little one: “He’s got no immune system … He’s looked after 24 hours a day … He’s actually doing very well.”
Although they’ve now got the diagnosis, Jean-Christophe and Michelle didn’t want to believe their baby had cancer as they have no family history of the disease.
He explained: “On both sides of the family, there is no history of cancer. On one evening, we were talking about cuddling the baby and for a second, we saw a spot on his neck and you don’t believe it. You think it is part of the growth, he’s taking the milk very well and straight away, we wonder if there’s something similar on the other side of the neck but there wasn’t. I managed to touch it and I could see it was something unusually hard. And I knew immediately it was not right.”

Adele Silva to return to Hollyoaks?

OHMYGOSSIP — Adele Silva has hinted that she’s set to return to ‘Hollyoaks’.
The 36-year-old actress portrayed blonde bombshell Angela Brown for seven episodes last year and, although her appearance was only meant to be temporary, she has teased that she’s managed to secure herself another contract for the popular soap.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, she said: “I’m going to start working again after Christmas. I’ll be back on it. I don’t know what I’ll be doing. I’d definitely like to go back to ‘Hollyoaks’. I wouldn’t rule it out. My character is still alive so never say never.”
However, Adele has admitted playing Angelina, who was desperate to adopt a child after failing to fall pregnant, in programme was tough because she’s gone through a similar heartbreak as her alter ego after suffering three miscarriages herself.
She explained recently: “I know and understand what she is going through.
“I drew on my own personal experience for this role and in some ways, it really helped. Angela is desperate to have a child of her own.”
Although, unlike her character, Adele gave birth to her daughter Sienna in March 2015 and has been taking time off to focus on her little one.
She said of Sienna while working on ‘Hollyoaks’: “She’s amazing. I’m very lucky because my mum has been helping out, looking after the baby while I’ve been on set.”
And, although the Channel 4 soap is renowned for its good-looking cast members, Adele didn’t feel the pressure to lose her baby weight to fit in last year.
She said at the time: “It’s strange because ‘Hollyoaks’ has a bit of a ‘model’ mentality as all the girls are so beautiful, but I’ve not felt any pressure. My job is to act, not to look like a model.”

Strictly Come Dancing's Gorka Márquez battered by yobs

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’s Gorka Márquez had two teeth knocked out by a group of yobs just hours after the live show in Blackpool on Saturday (19.11.16).
The 26-year-old professional dancer has been forced to have emergency surgery on his gnashers after he was pounced on and punched in the face numerous times in an “unprovoked and random” attack while heading to Flamingo nightclub in Blackpool with his co-stars Aljaz Skorjanec and Neil Jones after the programme had wrapped.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Gorka and a few of the other dancers were heading to a nightclub to let their hair down after another brilliant show. All of a sudden this group of local louts came out of nowhere. One of them punched Gorka in the face and broke two of his teeth. Gorka was sober, he doesn’t drink.
“This was an entirely random and shocking attack on a group of friends simply trying to enjoy a night out. He wasn’t angry, he was just more shaken by the event.
“They went straight back to the hotel to see if he needed urgent medical care before going back to London for dental surgery.”
The handsome dancer and his partner Tameka Empson were eliminated from the competition just three weeks in, but he has continued to make appearances every week in the group performance and even trained and danced with Anastacia a few weeks ago when her partner Brendan Cole was struck down with a chest infection.
Gorka joined the remaining contestants in the seaside resort over the weekend for the show’s Blackpool Tower special and partnered fellow professional Janette Manrara in a routine to Rick Astley’s seminal 1987 hit ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’.
Despite being battered by a group of yobs over the weekend, Gorka is expected to rejoin the group this week for training ahead of the show in London this weekend.
A representative said: “Gorka was sadly the victim of an unprovoked incident in Blackpool on Saturday night but he will be back in training this week and is looking forward to the group routine next weekend.”
It’s also believed he will partner Frankie Bridge – who came runner-up in 2014 – for the forthcoming ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Christmas special.

I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! plagued with blood-sucking leeches

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ camp has been plagued with blood-sucking leeches.
The 12 famous faces – including Carol Vorderman, Larry Lamb, Lisa Snowdon, Danny Baker and Adam Thomas – have been dished out repellent spray and urged to check their belly buttons and clothing regularly for the parasite after a number of crew members found the worms on them.
Show medic Dr Bob McCarron told The Sun newspaper: “They are attracted to the time of the month and they’re attracted to heat. If it’s the time of the month they will seek out the nearest blood supply. We get camera crew finding them in their belly buttons. What they like to do is crawl into their socks and they do not even know it. If they walk in the rain they need to check themselves. In the first aid kit they have their own vinegar spray. Once you spray it they die.”
The leeches found in camp suck blood from humans and can cause infection if they are not removed properly, while other species of the segmented worms feed solely on decomposing bodies and open wounds of amphibians, reptiles, waterfowl, fish, and mammals.
The majority of leeches, which have been historically used in medicine to remove blood from patients, live in freshwater, but some can be found in terrestrial and marine environments.
But leeches aren’t the only thing the camp mates have been told to keep an eye out for, as eight funnel-webs, the world’s deadliest spider, and a brown snake, the world’s second most venomous land snake, have been found lurking in the show’s jungle in Murwillumbah, Australia.
Bob said: “In Australia we have the world’s most dangerous spider which is the funnel web. In fact this year in one of the camera hides we found eight. That’s the most we’ve ever found in one day.”
However, although security around the base has been kicked up a notch since the eight-legged creatures were found, Bob isn’t overly worried about the spiders as he has anti-venom on hand in case any of the stars do get bitten by them.
He explained recently: “There is an anti-venom and of course none of the celebs have ever been bitten by them – a couple of crew have been bitten in the past.”

Adam Woodyatt's son walks unaided after horrific incident

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Woodyatt’s 18-year-old son has started to walk unaided after he was run over by a car and had to be “put back together”.
The ‘EastEnders’ star’s boy Sam was mowed down by a motor as he was crossing the road in London on September 29 and had to undergo five hours of life-saving surgery before spending five weeks in a wheelchair, but he finally managed to walk by himself on Friday (18.11.16).
Speaking about the incident for the first time, Adam – who plays Ian Beale in the soap – wrote: “Sam was crossing the road and got hit by a car.
“The London Air Ambulance responded, treated him at roadside, put him into an induced coma and took him to the Royal London Hospital. I’m not going to go into all the details, that’s Sam’s business but the operation to put him back together took five hours.
“Up until last Monday he was in a wheelchair, on Tuesday he started on crutches, yesterday, Friday 18th November, he was walking up a staircase unaided. His recovery has been amazing and we are going to continue with the original plan.”
The 48-year-old actor and Sam are set to run the London Marathon next year in aid of the London Air Ambulance service.
Adam has set up a Just Giving page with the aim of raising to £3,750 for the service – of which he is a long-time ambassador for – but the pair were already planning to run the 26.2-mile race before the teenager’s accident.
Adam added on the webpage: “It sounded like a good idea when talking to a friend about how she managed it last year.
“Having been an Ambassador for the Air Ambulance Service for many years, I wanted to more actively fund raise now that both of my Children have gone to University.
“I then talked it through with my son Sam in mid September and we came up with the idea of him running it and me walking it as a kind of tortoise and the hare to show the difference in transfer times between an Ambulance and an Air Ambulance.
“In case you are wondering, I’m the tortoise, he’s still going to be the hare.”

Mortal Kombat movie adds director

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Mortal Kombat’ movie reboot has added a new director.
Simon McQuoid, who is known for helming PlayStation, Range Rover and Beats by Dre advertisements, among others, has signed up to helm the forthcoming film for New Line.
According to Variety, the Australian filmmaker is one of the most in-demand commercial directors around and he has won several awards.
James Wan will produce the motion picture alongside Todd Garner, Jeremy Stein and Michael Clear, while Lawrence Kasanoff will act as executive producer on the movie.
Greg Russo has written a draft version of the script and while details of the storyline are not yet known, the film will be based on the classic 90s arcade game ‘Mortal Kombat’.
Paul W.S. Anderson helmed the original ‘Mortal Kombat’ movie in 1995, which was also produced by Kasanoff.
The film saw ‘MK’ characters Liu Kang (Robin Shou), Johnny Cage (Linden Ashby), and soldier Sonya Blade (Bridgette Wilson), attempt to try to defeat evil Shang Tsung (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa) in a tournament to save the world and was based on the first game and second, ‘Mortal Kombat II’.
Christopher Lambert played Raiden in the original, and he recently admitted the new movie will have a time travel theme.
He said: “They have a great idea for the third one. It will be very different.
“We are going to be travelling through time, but in a very special way. Imagine characters having a battle in the middle of London and then whoosh, you smash through a window and find yourself on the hood of a New York cab.”

Leslie Ash signs up for Quadrophenia remake

OHMYGOSSIP — Leslie Ash and Gary Shail have signed up for the ‘Quadrophenia’ sequel.
The two stars have agreed to reprise the roles of Steph and Spider, who they played in the 1979 classic movie – which is based on the music of The Who – in the upcoming film, even though the project doesn’t have the backing of the ‘Baba O’Riley’ group.
And though the film has been delayed because of Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend’s objections, production is now well underway, and movie bosses are hoping to sign up some more big names to feature alongside Leslie, Gary, and previously-announced returning cast members Phil Daniels,Toyah Wilcox, Mark Wingett, and Trevor Laird.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “There was a battle with The Who which delayed filming. It has now been resolved and production is moving forward.
“Leslie Ash and Gary Shail are on board and bosses are in talks with a big name that is being kept under wraps.”
Roger, 72, recently slammed the follow-up as “nonsense”.
He said: “It’s just someone fishing to make some money. It becomes a nonsense.”
The original movie centred on the rivalry between gangs of mods and rockers in 60s Brighton.
But Roger does not think that a follow-up set in the present day would do the original movie justice.
He added: “The whole point of ‘Quadrophenia’ was that it was a moment in time captured in a film.
“That moment in time is gone. It doesn’t matter what those characters are doing now. It was about what we all went through at that age.”
Earlier this year, Roger described plans to make a ‘Quadrophenia’ follow-up as “opportunist”.
He said: “It’s just a money-making exercise.
“‘Quadrophenia’ stands on its own and is an iconic film. We haven’t given this project our blessing.
“If someone wants to make a new film about mods, that’s up to them, but they can’t use our characters and trade off our creation by calling it an authorised sequel, which it is not. It seems a bit opportunist.”
The much-discussed new movie is based on Peter Meadows’ book ‘To Be Someone’, which was inspired by the original film.

Bad Santa 2's original casting plan

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Duvall was originally cast in ‘Bad Santa 2’ before Kathy Bates.
The 68-year-old actress stars in the sequel to the popular Christmas comedy movie as the mother of the main character, Willie – played by Billy Bob Thornton – but it has now been revealed the movie bosses wanted a male to take on the role, and they had the 85-year-old Hollywood legend in mind.
Director Mark Waters told CinemaBlend.com: “There was a whole series of development ideas based around [Willie] and his dad – his dad being the most awful person in the world. And it was like, ‘Let’s get Robert Duvall to play the dad!’ And he was actually named Sonny with an ‘O.’ And then we said, ‘What if it becomes Sunny with a ‘U’ and it’s a woman.’ And then immediately it seemed like ‘Well why not get Kathy Bates?’ I think we were saying, ‘Let’s get a Kathy Bates-type.'”
And the casting issue around Willie’s parents wasn’t the only problem the ‘Bad Santa 2’ team faced, as there were also questions surrounding the return of Thurman Merman, the young boy played by Brett Kelly.
Mark added: “The original, I think, they didn’t know if they were going to try and bring back Tony [Cox, who plays Marcus] or Brett, at first. For many years it was like, ‘Okay, if Brett’s only aged two years, that’s not really funny.’ And I think it was only when they realised, ‘Oh wait, what if it’s his 21st birthday, and [Willie] is trying to get him laid.’ Suddenly that can be funny!”
‘Bad Santa 2’ sees Willie return to cash in on the festive season once again, this time with a plan to steal millions of dollars from a Chicago-based charity.
The movie will be released in the US on Wednesday (23.11.16), before coming to UK cinema screens on Friday (25.11.16)

David Heyman defends casting Johnny Depp

OHMYGOSSIP — David Heyman says Johnny Depp was the “perfect choice” to play Gellert Grindelwald in the sequel to ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’.
The 53-year-old actor plays the dark wizard in the follow-up to the ‘Harry Potter’ spin-off – which stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander – and the 55-year-old producer has said they chose the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star because of his ability to be both “dangerous” and “charming”.
On how the casting came about, David explained: “It was the end of last year.
We filmed it early this year because of availability. What we wanted was an iconic actor to play Grindelwald, because Grindelwald is an iconic character who has a significant place in this story. His ability to persuade the hearts and minds, to persuade people to follow him is essential to this story.”
And on why he was the right person for the job, he told Collider: “He is dangerous in that way.
“We were looking for someone who was seductive and could be charming and could be original, who was iconic, who was a great actor; and that’s what Johnny Depp is. He can be irresistible. He’s powerful. He’s created some iconic characters, and not made the obvious choices when doing so. The unpredictability of the choices he makes is part of what makes him so extraordinary and that was very exciting for us. He was the perfect choice for Grindelwald.”
Meanwhile, although Depp’s character is more predominant in the second instalment, The Hollywood Reporter states that the Hollywood star is also said to make a fleeting appearance in the first of the new movies.
The next Instalment in the five-part series of ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is expected to hit cinemas in 2018.

Ryan Lawrie leaves X Factor

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Lawrie has been kicked out of ‘The X Factor’.
The 20-year-old hopeful was booted from the show on Saturday night (20.11.16) after losing out in the sing-off to controversial contestant Honey G despite putting on a great performance of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Lego House’.
Speaking after his exit, he said: “The highlight has been the whole thing. Just being able to be on ‘X Factor’ and be here. Wow. I’m just so thankful I’ve been able to come sixth in the competition so thank you to every single person on the show because you changed my life.”
And Ryan was full of support for his girlfriend and fellow contestant Emily Middlemas.
Asked who he wants to win the show now he’s gone, he shared: “I hope Emily goes onto win it now.”
Honey G narrowly made it through to next week’s live shows after singing a mash up of ‘Get Ur Freak On’ and ‘Work It’.
Meanwhile, Ryan opened the show on Saturday evening (19.11.16) with ‘Jailhouse Rock’ and Louis Walsh was full of criticism for him, insisting he would never be better than fellow contestant Matt Terry.
He said: “There is a guy on this show called Matt who will always be better than you.”
However, Simon was more positive, adding: “I think this was your best performance of the whole show. It was the very first time you actually looked like you had fun.”
Honey’s performance received good comments from Simon Cowell but on Sunday night’s show (20.11.16), he admitted her performance wasn’t as good when he watched it back.
Speaking on Saturday, he told her: “You are infectious; every time you put on a show. Is it the best thing I’ve heard? No. Do I look forward to you coming back? Yes. It’s time to rip up the rulebook.”
Whilst Nicole Scherzinger pondered: “I love the energy. Towards the end, I started to wonder if I’m seeing the same thing week on week.”
‘The X Factor’ will return next weekend where the remaining contestants will sing songs to fit the ‘Louis Loves’ theme.

Greg Rutherford leaves Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Greg Rutherford has been booted out of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 30-year-old athlete and his professional partner Natalie Lowe exited the BBC One latin and ballroom competition on Sunday evening (20.11.16) after the judges – Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno Tonioli and Darcey Bussell – opted to put Claudia Fragapane and AJ Pritchard through to next week’s show.
Speaking after his exit, Greg said tearily: “It’s been one of the most incredible things in my life. I’ve been very lucky in my life, I’ve done such amazing things but this is truly one of the best things I’ve done. I’ve made such good friends here.”
Whilst Natalie added: “You’re an amazing man and you’ve never had any dance experience and you got out there and just showed the world you can dance.
“It’s been the most incredible experience dancing every Saturday night with you and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I’m so sorry I couldn’t get you any further.”
During Saturday night’s (19.11.16) show, Greg and Natalie danced the quickstep to ‘Hand Jive’ from the movie ‘Grease’ and whilst he was praised for his travelling and being “bouncy and bubbly”, Craig criticised the sportsman for having too much power in his legs.
He told Greg: “You have too much power into the floor and your thumb was sticking up but you danced it brilliantly.”
Whilst Bruno added: “It was sporty, bouncy and bubbly. It was good to see a brighter side of you but refine the footwork, it needs to glide effortlessly – but your frame was better.”
However, Darcey really enjoyed the performance, telling Greg: “You have natural spring and no problem travelling. You lost control and made little mistakes but you smiled through it and made it fun to watch.”

The star appeared on the programme on Sunday (20.11.16) with her bandmates Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall and confessed that she and Perrie had been out drinking on Saturday night (19.11.16) and ended up in McDonald’s at 4am.

Jesy then said, “Oh we did eat. We had McDonald’s at 4am.”

Jean-Christophe Novelli hasn't told his parents about son's cancer

OHMYGOSSIP — Jean-Christophe Novelli has not told his parents that his baby son has cancer.
The 55-year-old celebrity chef and his partner Michelle Kennedy, 40, were devastated when Valentino Louis, who was born in September, was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a rare type of cancer which mostly affects babies and young children but he can’t bring himself to tell his elderly parents Jean, 77, and Monique, 84.
He said: “I can’t – it would kill them. They have photos of Valentino all over the house but they have not yet met him. Thankfully, they don’t use the internet.”
And the devastated chef wishes he could trade places with his cancer stricken baby.
He told the Sunday Mirror: “We found a lump in Valentino’s neck and we both went to pieces.
“There have been nights when I have sat alone, crying, asking God why this has happened to my little boy and not to me. I wish I could change places with him.”
Jean-Christophe – who announced Valentino’s cancer the same day that Michael Buble revealed his three-year-old son Noah has cancer – added: “Valentino is so tiny. You feel utterly helpless. My heart goes out to the Bublés and any other family facing cancer.”
However, Michelle insisted they are staying positive.
She said: “I used to be scared of my children being snatched. It never occurred to me that they could get cancer.
“I haven’t asked what Valentino’s chances of survival are… I don’t want to consider that there is even a small chance he’ll die.
“These last few weeks have changed us. Being on a children’s cancer ward has made me realise we’re actually lucky because we have some hope. Others aren’t so fortunate. We count our blessings every day.”
