It’s back! Celebrity Big Brother’s live launch show ‘to return for new ITV series’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ is expected to feature a live launch show next month.
The star-studded version of the celebrity spin-off show will air on ITV next month, co-hosted by new ‘Big Brother’ presenters Will Best and AJ Odudu, who presented ITV’s first-ever series of the reality TV show last year.
At the time, the launch show was pre-recorded, which narrator Marcus Bentley said was to “avoid chaos”, but the premiere of the new celebrity season looks set to be live.
A TV insider said told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Producers wanted to bring back that anything-could-happen feel to Celebrity Big Brother’s kick-off, even if it will be a bit more of a nerve-wracking experience for them.”
This year’s ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ full line-up isn’t expected to be confirmed until the stars appear on the launch show.
The insider added: “It will also ensure the bosses will be able to save a few more surprises, in terms of the famous housemates they plan to unveil on the night.
“AJ and Will proved themselves hugely capable hosts on the “civilian” series, so there’s no fear they won’t be able to handle the live launch and take it in their stride.”
Former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ winner Katie Price, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ head judge Shirley Ballas, former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Met Out Of Here!’ star Rebekah Vardy – the wife of England footballer Jamie Vardy – ex-‘Love Island’ star Chloe Burrows, businessman Levi Roots, and TOWIE’s Joey Essex are among those who have been linked to the upcoming series.
Former ‘Love Island’ star Olivia Attwood has also admitted she has been in talks about appearing on ‘CBB’.
During a Q and A on her Instagram Story, one fan asked her: “Also, would you ever do ‘Celebrity Big Brother’?”
She teasingly replied: “We did talk…”
It has also been reported that the Princess of Wales’ uncle Gary Goldsmith – who is the younger brother of Catherine’s mother Carole Middleton – has signed up for the show.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Gary is champing at the bit to get on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
“He finalised the terms of his deal today and can’t wait to enter the house.”

‘How do you follow that?’: Austin Butler didn’t want to wear Sting’s winged underwear in Dune 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Austin Butler didn’t want to copy Sting and wear winged underwear playing Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in ‘Dune: Part Two’.
The ‘Elvis’ star plays the “psychotic” character in Denis Villeneuve’s second film of a two-part adaptation of the 1965 novel ‘Dune’ by Frank Herbert, and as much as he loved the former Police frontman’s leather-like trunks in David Lynch’s 1984 movie, he wanted to do something different.
Feyd-Rautha is Baron Vladimir Harkonnen’s (Stellan Skarsgård) youngest nephew and planned successor of House Harkonnen.
In an interview with Total Film magazine, Austin said of introduction to the menacing character: “Denis described him to me as having a psychotic nature, but yet there’s something sort of seductive about him as well. And he’s hungry for power. I started thinking: well, how did he grow up? What would his voice sound like? How would he breathe? How would he move? That was the real fun, where you start filling in all those details, and putting meat on the bone.”
The former Disney star, 32, said he couldn’t spend too long in character, like he did when inhabited the late King of Rock and Roll, because it’s not a “healthy” place to be.
He explained: “With Feyd, I didn’t think it would be healthy to live in that head-space 24 hours a day.
So l created rituals around it in the hair and make-up chair where I could start shifting my mind over. That allowed more freedom to feel that I could go further in the film, because I knew that it wasn’t going to get out of hand. Once you know that, then it’s so much fun, because he’s so different from me. There’s a challenge in that, but there’s something liberating about immersing yourself in this other way of being. There were possibilities that don’t exist with other characters that were very fun to explore.”
Asked if he requested the winged pants, he replied: “I think he did them so much justice that I had to do something completely of my own [laughs]. How do you follow that? I think he looks great in them… I love that movie, and I love Sting as a musician and as an actor. I feel honoured to be embodying this role that he had the opportunity to.”

Lashana Lynch says playing Rita Marley brought a ‘stillness’ to her life

OHMYGOSSIP — Lashana Lynch says playing Bob Marley’s widow Rita Marley in ‘Bob Marley: One Love’ brought her a lot of “peace” in her own life.
The 36-year-old star always learns something from the various characters she plays, and it was no different when she took on the role of the reggae legend’s wife in the new biopic about his life.
She told Film Stories Magazine: “I’ve been able to harness a stillness that I’ve been looking for in my life as me and as an artist and as a woman through learning about how much we’re able to do everything.
“Sometimes this industry can be so chaotic. Creating art can be so taxing at the worst of times. Especially when you add expectations and pressures to it.
Through playing Mrs Marley and through channelling the energy of my culture, in a film about my culture, has genuinely given me more peace as a person.”
‘Bob Marley: One Love’ stars ‘Barbie’ actor Kingsley Ben-Adir as Bob, and documents the singer’s rise to fame up until his death from cancer in 1981 aged 36.
Meanwhile, Lashana has said she would be willing to perform the next Bond theme after getting the chance to showcase her singing talents in the biopic.
She told On Demand Entertainment: “Oh my gosh – could you let them know!
“I can write a tune or two and do that. Yeah, yeah, sure. I’d be down. I’d be down.
“That’s a great … great idea. That is. Now I’m like, ‘OK, now I must write that down to make sure [Bond producer] Barbara Broccoli knows.”
The London-born actress played Nomi alongside Daniel Craig in his final film as 007, 2021’s ‘No Time To Die’.

Amy Dowden looks to saves lives after opening up about breast cancer battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Dowden has inspired numerous people to check themselves for breast cancer, after opening up about her battle with the disease.
The 33-year-old ballroom dancer, who is best known for appearing on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, was diagnosed with aggressive stage three breast cancer in May 2023, and since announcing her health battle, Amy has been thanked by lots of people for inspiring them to check themselves for the disease.
In an interview with the Daily Star newspaper, she said: “I’ve had people come up to me and say, ‘Because of you, I check me chest now.’
“And I’ve even had people message me online to say that because of me, they found a lump, went to their GP and have been diagnosed.
“This is why I went public about my cancer. I want to keep raising awareness.”
Despite being open about her diagnosis, Amy’s friend Sara Davies recently revealed the dancer considered delaying her chemotherapy because she was worried she would be dropped from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
Speaking on the Sunday Mirror newspaper’s ‘Invite Only’ podcast, the ‘Dragons’ Den’ star said: “What I’ve realised with the dancers is that from being little, they are hardwired to dance. And the biggest blow for her was, ‘If I don’t go down that route, I won’t be able to do ‘Strictly’ this year.’
“I had to look her in the eye and say, ‘Amy, you’ve got cancer. They’ve literally just cut your boob off. They are telling you you need to have this chemo to get better. Don’t worry about dance and ‘Strictly’.
“Her response was, ‘But they might not want me back next year.’ So I said, ‘Amy, you’re amazing at what you do, of course they will want you back. You’re so well-loved. Please, it’s really important. Get well.’
“And then she went on the show without her wig as well. What a phenomenal moment. When I saw her, I cried.”
“She is a lot more positive now. She’s on the road to recovery. But I can tell you, her focus is already on, ‘When do we start training for next year’s ‘Strictly?’ ”

Gavin and Stacey ‘returning for new Christmas special’ in 2024

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Gavin and Stacey’ is expected to return for another Christmas special.
The beloved BBC sitcom last aired a festive special in 2019, following a nine-year break, and it ended with a cliffhanger as Nessa (Ruth Jones) proposed to Smithy (James Corden), but the credits started to roll before viewers could find out his answer.
James and Ruth – who co-created and co-write the show – are expected to shoot a new episode over the summer.
According to Deadline, the episode is in development, with a view to airing over the festive period this year.
Mathew Horne and Joanna Page starred as the titular characters, alongside the likes of Ruth, James, Rob Brydon, Alison Steadman, Larry Lamb and Julia Davis.
It’s expected that most of the main cast will be back for the upcoming special episode.
In September, Mat admitted he had “absolutely no idea” if there was going to be anymore ‘Gavin and Stacey’ episodes.
In an interview with the Metro newspaper’s ’60 Seconds With…’ feature, he said: “I’m not sick of being asked. I just don’t have the answers.
“That’s the problem, because the questions inevitably centre around, ‘Is there going to be any more?’ And I absolutely have no idea.”
Alison – who played Gavin’s mother Pam – previously claimed a full series would be “too draining”, but she would be up for another special to continue the story.
Speaking to the Radio Times magazine, the 77-year-old actress said: “The Christmas special cliffhanger ending was brilliant. I was really touched and moved by it.
“A special would be great fun and it wouldn’t be too draining and exhausting.”
What’s more, Ruth, 57, recently refused to rule out bringing ‘Gavin and Stacey’ back.
The 56-year-old writer-and-actress said: “I think we both think that there are pros and cons.
“If I go back to before we did the Christmas special that was 10 years that passed before we did the 2019 special, and I think then we thought we would never bring it back again and we did. I don’t know.”

Lucinda Strafford and Zac Nunns split up

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucinda Strafford and Zac Nunns have split up.
The former ‘Love Island’ star – who took part in series seven of the ITV2 dating show – hooked up with 25-year-old Zac when they took part in ‘Love Island Australia’ last year, on which they finished as runners up, but they have now gone their separate ways.
Zac wrote on Instagram: “Hey guys, just thought I’d let you know that Lucinda and I have decided to go our separate ways.
“I’m not feeling too good about the situation and appreciate all the support so far.”
In October, Lucinda, 24, confirmed she was to take part in ‘Love Island Australia’.
A message on her Instagram account read: “Lucinda is looking for love in the @LoveIslandAU Villa! Stream the new season of #LoveIslandAU from Monday October 30 on @9now.
UK viewers will be able to see the star on ‘Love Island Australia’ on ITVBe and ITVX later in the year, after the show initially airs on Australia’s Channel9 from October 30 (sic)”
Lucinda became the first ‘Love Island UK’ star to appear on the Australian version of the series, after former ‘Love Island Australia’ stars and Australian natives, Jessie Wynter and Aaron Waters, headed into the ‘Love Island UK’ Cape Town villa for last year’s winter series.
During her time in the UK series, Lucinda grew close to Brad McClelland and then Aaron Francis, but failed to find love.
A source previously told The Sun newspaper: “Lucinda is a bona fide Love Island legend so everyone’s really excited for even more viewers to enjoy her special brand of ditzy banter – who can forget her ‘realllyyyy?’ catchphrase?
“She’s so gorgeous, she was a real hit with the lads in the Majorca villa, so no doubt Lucinda will have the Aussie lads’ head spinning too.
“Of course people all around the world watch the global versions of ‘Love Island’ so it’s likely the cast will know exactly who she is – and know she knows how to play the game – which always ruffles feathers.
“Lucinda is so excited to get grafting.”

Joanne Froggatt learned how to intubate patients for new COVID drama

OHMYGOSSIP — Joanne Froggatt learned how to intubate patients for a new COVID-19 drama series ‘Breathtaking’.
The ‘Downton Abbey’ star plays fictional doctor Abbey Henderson in the new show from ‘Line of Duty’ creator Jed Mercurio and based on a book by real life medic Rachel Clarke’s account of the NHS frontlines during the outbreak of the deadly bug in 2020 – and Joanne has revealed she was given training at a “medical bootcamp”.
She told Stylist magazine: “We had amazing medical advisors … who did a sort of medical bootcamp for us, giving us a crash course in medical speak so that we properly understood everything we were saying.
“We learned how to intubate someone. – if you and I were the last people on Earth and your life depended on it, I could probably have a go. Without them [the medical advisors] we probably couldn’t have pulled it off.”
The show focuses on the struggle of NHS workers throughout the pandemic and Joanne hopes it will shine a light on the heroes of the health service as well as the many problems they encountered.
However, she understands it may be a very difficult watch for some people affected by the issues raised. She added: “I hope that people can watch it, if it’s not too triggering, then please do and please don’t look away! It’s so important that we have an inkling of what the NHS did for us, what they’re still dealing with, and how lucky we are to have them.
“The NHS is not perfect, but it’s an incredible institution. I want people to see that.”
‘Breathtaking’ is a three-part series which airs on ITV later this month.
Speaking after completing filming, Joanne previously admitted the script brought her to tears. She said: “I feel truly honoured to be playing Dr Abbey Henderson in ‘Breathtaking’, based on Dr Rachel Clarke’s beautifully written, poignant and shocking book of the same name.
“When I first read the incredible scripts they moved me to tears on many occasions. I felt so passionately that I had to be a part of telling this story, the real story, of what was really happening behind the closed doors of the hospitals during the pandemic.”

Jason Manford returning to BBC to host new quiz show The Answer Run

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Manford is set to host the new BBC One daytime quiz ‘The Answer Run’.
The 42-year-old comedian will front the new show that will see pairs of contestants presented with two answers to select the correct one from.
Jason told The Sun: “I’m chuffed to bits to be back on BBC daytime again with The Answer Run. I really feel like this is going to be one of those addictive TV quiz shows where you’re sat at home shouting at the telly because you reckon you could’ve done better…
“It’s fast-paced, full of jeopardy and requires contestants to be able to make split-second decisions. But I promise we’ll have a laugh too.”
His return to the BBC comes after his game show ‘Unbeatable’ was axed after two series.
The programme, which debuted in 2021, tested the knockout knowledge of contestants against their fellow opponents as they competed to win the jackpot prize.
The format saw four players battle it out solo in the first three rounds by finding unbeatable answers to build up their personal banks, before going head-to-head with the other opponents for a chance to make it through to the final.
Contestants were given six rank-able answers to choose from on each round.
The answer they deemed unbeatable determined whether they’d bank £1,000 or win nothing, and the strongest player remaining went through to the final for a chance to double their earnings.
A BBC spokesperson said: “Unbeatable had two great series but we need to make room for new opportunities. We’d like to thank Jason and the team for all their hard work.”

Adele was nearly offered Lady Gaga’s role in A Star Is Born

OHMYGOSSIP — Adele was considered by Bradley Cooper for Lady Gaga’s role in their 2018 version of ‘A Star Is Born’.
The ‘Hello’ hitmaker, 35, was one of the singers the movie’s director and leading male thought could portray the role of waitress-turned-superstar Ally alongside himself as washed-up country rock musician Jackson ‘Jack’ Maine.
Speaking at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival recently, Cooper said: “I thought about Adele for a while.
“It was like, his career’s not great. He goes abroad. He meets this woman, but no – and then that never even took off at all.”
It was already known that Beyonce was set to take on the part but was forced to pull out.
He recalled of the 42-year-old pop superstar’s try-out : “She was incredible.
“And we went down the road and then it didn’t work out. I remember I was so nervous. I had this weird cough as I was pitching it to her.”
What’s more, former White Stripes rocker Jack White, 48, was being eyed to portray Cooper’s role.
Gaga and Cooper ended up winning the Oscar for Best Original Song for their duet of ‘Shallow’ from the film.
The film’s soundtrack sold more than six million copies worldwide and received a BAFTA Award and four Grammy Award wins out of seven nominations, including nominations for Song of the Year two years in a row.
Adele previously revealed she was open to pursuing an acting career – but for one movie only, which remains a mystery.
She told Vanity Fair: “There is one movie I want to do, but the guy whose movie it would be, he’s not mentally ready to write the script for it.
“I bug him every now and then about it, but he’s just not there yet. But that’s the only role I ever want. Because I think I’d nail it. I think I’d do really, really, really good at it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell rushed backstage at the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ auditions to help a young dancer who suffered a nasty fall.
The TV mogul has been busy filming the try-outs for the ITV show ahead of its return to TV, but the auditions at The Lowry Theatre in Salford on Sunday (11.02.24) were brought to an abrupt halt after a member of a dance troupe suffered a terrifying fall.
According to The Sun newspaper, the dancer collapsed into the wings and a safety curtain was brought down while medic tended to him with Simon and fellow judge Bruno Tonioli heading over to check up on him.
A source told the publication: “It was a real shock when it happened as the lad, who was in his early twenties, was obviously in agony.

Lorraine Kelly shares update on Phillip Schofield as she reveals they are still in touch:’It’s hard’

OHMYGOSSIP — Lorraine Kelly was “heartbroken” over the Phillip Schofield scandal at ITV.
The 64-year-old presenter had worked alongside former ‘This Morning’ host Phillip, 61, for decades when he announced his decision to leave the network in June 2023 after it emerged that he had had an extramarital affair with a younger male colleague.
Now, Lorraine – who fronts her self-titled chat show which serves as a lead-in to ‘This Morning’ and follows ‘Good Morning Britain – has remembered her former colleague as “generous” and revealed that she is still in touch with him, noting that he is “doing all right” in the days since his TV career came to an abrupt end.
She told The Sunday Times: “I think everybody lost their minds a wee bit. He was generous. Not all men are, particularly male presenters, but he was. I was heartbroken when all that happened. It’s just a shame for the amazing career that he’s had, for it to end like that.
“He’s doing all right and he will be all right, but it’s hard.”
At the time he left ‘This Morning’, Phillip had fronted the magazine show alongside Holly Willoughby, 43, for more than a decade but she was also forced to take time out from her job when it emerged that a man was arrested for allegedly plotting to kidnap and murder her.
She eventually left her long-running role as host of the show but returned to screens to resume fronting the Sunday night competition ‘Dancing on Ice’ in January, this time joined by ‘Deal or No Deal’ host Stephen Mulhern, and Lorraine admitted that she feels “desperately sorry” for Holly but is pleased to have her back at ITV.
She said: “I feel desperately sorry for Holly. I don’t even know the half of it, but it’s just really lovely that she’s back.”
Phillip – who has daughters Molly, 31, and 28-year-old Ruby with wife Stephanie Lowe – confirmed that he had had an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a young man who worked alongside him and admitted he was “deeply sorry” for his dishonest behaviour.
He said: “The first thing I want to say is: I am deeply sorry for having lied to them, and to many others about a relationship that I had with someone working on ‘This Morning’.
“I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at ‘This Morning’.
“Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television, it was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship.
“That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over.”

Robert Downey Jr. thinks Oppenheimer could launch ‘fiscally responsible cinema’

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Downey Jr. feels that the success of ‘Oppenheimer’ could herald a new era for cinema.
The 58-year-old actor starred in Christopher Nolan’s box-office smash as Lewis Strauss and believes that it could lead to a new type of blockbuster that keeps budgets under control while maintaining the hype of a major movie.
Robert told the New York Times newspaper: “Fiscally responsible event cinema. It almost laughs in the face of what I grew up in: the 80s, bloated, big-budget behemoth that you go, ‘It doesn’t matter, because they’re still going to double their money.'”
Nolan confessed that he was also taken aback by the figures put up by the movie – which tells the story of the “father of the atomic bomb” J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy).
Asked if others doubted the box office appeal of the film, the 53-year-old director said: “Oh yeah. They were saying that to me until the night it opened.
“So that opening weekend was thrilling. The numbers coming in were defying all of our greatest hopes. We always have done well putting challenging material out there, but it was a complete shock for (my wife and producer) Emma (Thomas) and me the level at which it worked. Because we’d made the film very efficiently.”
Nolan recently explained that he had “always wanted” to work with the ‘Iron Man’ star before handing him a role in the atomic bomb blockbuster.
The ‘Tenet’ director said: “With anybody you work with, with actors … you’re looking for some kind of connection emotionally, empathetically.
“You’re looking for some kind of generosity. He [Downey Jr. ] has this incredible generosity of spirit. It means when he’s in a scene with other people he’s making sure they are all doing their best, that they are all able to bring their best to the table. He’s helping them clarify those emotional connections.
“I’ve always wanted to work with him. I’ve always seen that in his work.”

Lena Headey to play grieving mother in action-thriller Ballistic

OHMYGOSSIP — Lena Headey has been cast in the action-thriller ‘Ballistic’.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ actress will star alongside Amybeth McNulty in the movie about an avenging mother.
Lena’s character works for an ammunition manufacturing company but is left devastated when her son is killed while serving in Afghanistan.
Her despair gives way to rage and desire for revenge when she learns that it was a bullet from her factory that caused her son’s death.
Red Sea Media is responsible for worldwide sales on the movie, which is currently in pre-production and is being written and directed by Chad Faust.
Thomas Michael is producing for Fella Films with David Tish and Lee Nelson involved as executive producers for Envision Media Arts.
Red Sea’s Roman Kopelevich said: “This is a compelling script about the impact on everyday families of our military industry complex and America’s near-constant state of war, from Chad Faust and with Lena Headey as our lead. The film is a perfect fit for international audiences around the globe.”
Michael, Nelson and Tish added: “We loved working with Faust on ‘Girl’ and couldn’t be more delighted to get the band back together for this exciting thriller with a stellar cast.”
Lena previously described her delight at the power dynamic “shifting” in Hollywood with more opportunities opening up for women in the TV and movie industries.
The 50-year-old star explained: “When I was starting out, I didn’t realise I had a voice, and my opinion was not often welcomed. There are still moments where you speak up and your male counterparts say the same thing seven minutes later and then, strangely enough, it is heard.
“But things are shifting within the industry. More and more women are getting producing and directing roles, which is bolstering all of the change, which is awesome.”

The Traitors’ Mollie Pearce wishes she warned her boyfriend over Harry Clark romance rumours

OHMYGOSSIP — Mollie Pearce wishes she warned her boyfriend about Harry Clark romance rumours before appearing on ‘The Traitors’.
The 22-year-old model was said to be romantically linked to Harry, 22, during her time on the Claudia Winkleman-led reality show, and admitted she wished she warned her boyfriend Max about the potential of rumours going into the programme.
She told OK! Magazine: “This is super interesting because neither of us warned our partners about how the public was going to react to our friendship because, for us, it was just that.
“We just happened to be opposite sexes of similar ages. It [the rumours] took me by surprise, and I wish I could have prepared Max, but I never saw that coming. It’s obviously not very nice for our other halves to read that stuff.”
Mollie made it to the final of the BBC show, but lost out on the £95,000 cash prize after Harry betrayed her and revealed himself as a Traitor.
Reflecting on the show, the model admitted she had some regrets, but was still proud of herself for making it so far.
She said: “In hindsight, yes I have some regrets, but I can’t beat myself up about it, can I?
“People are like, ‘Why didn’t you spot this?’ I just didn’t and that’s the end of it.
“I’m still proud of myself for getting to the final no matter what, and I had the best experience. I’ve made friends for life.”
Mollie also hit back at viewers who said she was “too nice”, and insisted that Harry had just “played a great game”.
She explained: “I don’t think I was too nice. It was the game to deceive, and if a Traitor was going to win the game, someone had to trust them otherwise what was the point?
“I don’t think trusting Harry made me too nice, I think it just means he played a great game.”
