Jack Nicholson to end retirement to star in Toni Erdmann remake

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Nicholson is poised to come out of retirement to star in an English-language remake of ‘Toni Erdmann’.
The Hollywood icon has not appeared on the big screen since ‘How Do You Know’ in 2010, after which he retired from the business due to memory issues.
But according to Variety, Nicholson is set to star in the remake as an elderly music teacher who creates an alter-ego to become his daughter’s life coach.
The making of the movie would also represent a dramatic U-turn on the part of ‘Toni Erdmann’ director Maren Ade, who insisted earlier this year that she had no interest in remaking the critically acclaimed film – which was released in German in 2016 – for an American audience.
In reference to Hollywood, she previously said: “I’m afraid that here it’s very, very far away from the way I’m working.
“I’m in such a luxury position in Europe and I’m lucky to be my own producer. I have so many freedoms that I think it would be really complicated to give them up – and for what reason?”
Maren – who is poised to executive produce the English-language version of the movie – also quipped that any Hollywood remake would need to cut an hour off the film’s 162-minute time.
However, Paramount Pictures has acquired the rights to the Oscar-nominated movie and Nicholson is set to star opposite Kristen Wiig.
The studio is still looking to attach a director and writer, but sources have told Variety that Nicholson was a huge fan of the original film and, therefore, he approached Paramount with the idea.
The 79-year-old icon has passed up the opportunity to star in numerous films over recent years, but is reportedly very keen to play a central role in the ‘Toni Erdmann’ remake.

Justice League to offer 'complex' group dynamic

OHMYGOSSIP — Zack Snyder says ‘Justice League’ offers a “complex” group dynamic.
The 50-year-old director is at the helm for the upcoming DC Comics ensemble movie – which will see Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), the Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) join forces to battle with the evil Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) – and has said one of the most “rewarding aspects” of making the feature was working with the “complex relationships” that exist within the group of “larger-than-life characters”.
He told Total Film magazine: “One of the more rewarding aspects of creating Justice League was having fun exploring the dynamic between this diverse group of larger-than-life characters with disparate backgrounds, ethics, and unique perspectives all trying to come together and work as a team.
“It not only offers an opportunity for great drama and complex relationships, but it also often results in great fun. It’s an exciting concept to explore and it only gets better when you add the component of our incredibly talented cast – their chemistry really adds to that dynamic.”
Meanwhile, Zack previously claimed he had been excited to take on the ensemble movie because the “fresh” characters were “fun to explore”.
He said at the time: “These guys – Aquaman, Cyborg, Flash – really are just fun to explore. They’re just so fresh. They’re on the edge of their powers at different times in this story and that’s really fun.”
Zack’s positive outlook on the feature comes as he claimed harsh backlash from fans aimed at the preceding film ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ – which he also directed – severely impacted his approach to the hotly-anticipated ‘Justice League’.
He said: “[The hate] did catch me off guard. I have had to, in my mind, make an adjustment. I do think that the tone of ‘Justice League’ has changed because of what the fans have said.”
‘Justice League’ is expected to hit theatres in November 2017.

Megan McKenna east fast food every week

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan McKenna eats fast food five times a week.
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star may suffer from coeliac disease – a common digestive condition where the small intestine becomes inflamed and unable to absorb nutrients – but that doesn’t mean she has to miss out on the meaty feasts at McDonald’s.
Asked what her guilty pleasure is, she said: “McDonald’s. I have it five times a week. I’m not allowed to eat the bun so I just have the meat.”
Despite the greasy grub she tucks into, the 24-year-old beauty isn’t worried about piling on the pounds – despite the fact she doesn’t work out – because of her illness.
She explained to Star magazine: “I don’t [work out], I hate it. But I have to watch what I eat because of my allergy. That’s why I’m slim. My favourite part of my body is my bum, the least favourite is my toes! Sometimes I wish my boobs could be a bit bigger but I don’t like the whole fake look. I’m having with my figure. I’ve just come back from Saint Lucia, so I’ve got a tan at the moment. I always feel better when I’m brown.”
Megan has previously had lip fillers to give her a plump pout but there’s nothing else about her body or face that she’s not keen on and hasn’t thought about surgery.
The brunette beauty said: “I haven’t thought about it [surgery]. The negative comments used to affect me but I just ignore them now because they’re written by lowlives, hiding behind their computer screens. I find it quite fun commenting back.”

Jamie O'Hara dumps Bianca Gascoigne

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Celebrity Big Brother’s Jamie O’Hara has dumped Bianca Gascoigne.
The pair have only been out of the infamous abode four days but the 30-year-old footballer has already called time on their romance because he wants to focus on his sons Archie, six, Harry, five, and George, three, whom he has with his ex-wife Danielle Lloyd, and doesn’t have the time to put his all into a relationship at the moment.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “They are going to remain firm friends but Jamie needs to spend time with his family first and focus on other things in his life. They had a great time in the ‘CBB’ house but unfortunately it has come to an end.”
It seems the hunk has had a dramatic change of heart in recent days as he only admitted last week that he thought the blonde bombshell could be “the one” for him.
He said at the time: “She’s definitely got that potential [to be the one]. She’s someone I want to have in my life. She’s got her situation to sort out [with her ex-boyfriend] but I’m happy with whatever she wants to do. I’ll enjoy spending time with her outside of the house and we’ll take it from there. I didn’t know she had a boyfriend. We were living in the moment so it was hard to know the real situation on the outside.”
Bianca – who is the daughter of the legendary Paul ‘Gazza’ Gascoigne – came under fire earlier this month when it was revealed she had been in a relationship with cage fighter CJ Meeks when she entered the abode at the beginning of January.
CJ claimed he was “heartbroken” when he saw Bianca cosy up to Jamie on national television but she’s adamant he only said that to gain some publicity and cash.

Blind Date to make a return

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Blind Date’ is set to return to television screens before the end of this year.
The classic game show was fronted by the late Cilla Black for almost two decades from 1985 until 2003 but will be given a reboot over the coming months.
Speaking to The Sun Online, a source said: “‘Blind Date’ is the original dating show and it’s huge news to bring it back.
“It’s a classic format that will be rebooted to make it young, sexy and modern. Expect sparks to fly. In an age of Tinder, you have got to earn the right to love on this show.”
It’s not known who will replace Cilla, who tragically passed away in 2015, as the host just yet but it’s believed Vicky Pattison, Olly Murs, Georgia May Foote and Helen Flanagan are among those in talks about taking over as the presenter of the dating series.
Bosses are keen to keep some of the “traditional” elements of the previous run but have decided to give it an updated twist to appeal to a “new generation of viewers”.
It’s expected to run on Friday nights – rather than its traditional Saturday night slot – and will consist of six to eight episodes per series for the first few installments.
The programme sees three singletons grilled by a member of the opposite sex in order to find the perfect match without being able to see them. The new couple then pick an envelope with their holiday destination – abroad or in the UK – inside and will spend the next week trying to get to know one another.
Channel 5 have bought the rights to the dating show but they will have some stiff competition from ITV as it has ‘Take Me Out’ and ‘Meet The Parents’.
‘Blind Date’ proved a hit with viewers for years but the plug was pulled in 2003 when Cilla announced she was quitting during a live episode following a drop in ratings.

Dillon St Paul had brain tumour

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Apprentice’ star Dillon St Paul was forced to undergo emergency surgery last month after doctors discovered he had a brain tumour.
The Irish contestant – who took part in the business show last autumn – was rushed to hospital two weeks ago after he suffered a seizure at work but, despite the pain he was in, he never expected to hear that he had a non-cancerous mass wedge in his brain.
Taking to his blog, he wrote: “After the seizure I was rushed to emergency where they found a tumor in my brain. Before I knew it I was in hospital prepping for surgery to have it removed; what followed was a whirlwind of pain, emotion and disappointment.
“I was about to write that this blog post is the hardest thing I’ve ever done because, believe me, writing this while in recovery is no easy feat (it took me a week and two failed attempts to navigate my way through this keyboard). But in actuality, the hardest thing was obviously surviving the brain surgery – a journey of pain and sorrow unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.”
Dillon experienced his first seizure while he was working on a new project with his friend Vicki – who he co-created the magazine Stellar with – and is so grateful that she supported him during the episode because he had no idea what was going on.
He explained: “My left hand felt like it was moving in thick jelly and my speech froze. I say speech rather than mouth because it felt like the power to communicate deserted me not just the mechanism, if that makes sense. This was the moment my first seizure began. The single most terrifying thing you can ever imagine. I desperately tried to tell Vicki what was happening but my mouth wouldn’t work and the left side of my face felt like it was melting and being pulled to the floor like gooey molasses. I fixed on Vicki’s face but with no way to share what was happening I felt completely trapped. Reality vanished and time stopped.
“Fast forward to the emergency room where they tried to get to the bottom of what exactly was going on within my brain with callous candour. After being poked and prodded they ran a CT scan which showed up a small dark area- so a more detailed MRI was required. when you get an MRI they run a ‘line” into you’re arm and inject you with dye that shows up everything in more detail- this ran into my unusually narrow blood vessels too quickly and hurt like hell and so marked the first of many small necessary “evils” which would plague me for the following weeks. I seemed to be constantly prodded, poked and injected until reduced to tears on several occasions …
“What they found was something called a low-grade glioma tumour. It had caused my seizure and was located on the right side of my brain in an area I was was told was “easily operable”.
Dillon underwent the surgery and, although he couldn’t see in front of him for the first week afterwards, he’s now got his sense of smell back and has been recuperating by watching back-to-back episodes of ‘Absolutely Fabulous.’

Mark Austin's daughter threatened to kill herself

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Austin’s daughter threatened to kill herself.
The 58-year-old newsreader and his wife Catherine had no choice but to call in doctors to section their now 22-year-old daughter Maddy after she stopped eating and shrunk to a tiny five-and-a-half stone in 2012 but his heart broke when the then-teenager said she wanted to commit suicide rather than get better with the help of food.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’ on Tuesday (07.02.17), he explained: “She was there physically but she was gone. She was basically a hollow person and to watch someone to shrink away like that and to get up at four in the morning and find she’s not in her bed because she’s walking five miles come rain, come snow broke my heart.
“I thought pull yourself together, get real and just eat. It was the wrong thing to say. It’s a mental illness. We looked into private health and they threatened to force feed her and she threatened to commit suicide. Catherine gave up work and set up an emergency ward in her bedroom and we looked after her. She got better and is back at uni.”
The broadcaster broke down in tears as he recalled the moment his daughter lost control and, although he’s tried to fathom why she stopped eating, he doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to truly understand why she put him and his wife through “hell.”
He said: “The speed at which it happened was extraordinary. She was an athlete and completely normal and then she just entered this spiral of shrinking away. To be honest, I still don’t know why she did it. She said something about control. It was the only thing she could control, she felt out of control, she didn’t feel worthy. The only thing she could control was what she put into her mouth. All I know is we went through hell, we couldn’t find the help we really needed until well down the road. I was a pushy journalist and my wife was an a&e doctor so we manage to work something else.”

Shooting on the project is due to begin in July.
McConaughey has starred in a stoner comedy before when he appeared in coming-of-age movie ‘Dazed and Confused’ back in 1993.

He was held for nine hours in county jail before being released on a $1,000 bond with all drugs charges against him eventually being dropped and he previously insisted he doesn’t regret what happened one bit.
The ‘Gold’ star said: “I was not raised to be in jail. What’s wrong with beating on your drums in your birthday suit? I have no regrets about the way I got there. [I learnt to] shut the window that has the beautiful scent of jasmine blowing in because it’s two in the morning and you might wake a neighbour.”

Kris Marshall thought about Death in Paradise exit 4 years ago

OHMYGOSSIP — Kris Marshall has thought about quitting ‘Death in Paradise’ for “three or four years.”
The 43-year-old actor has just bowed out of playing DI Humphrey Goodman in the crime comedy series but has admitted he toyed with the idea of walking away from the island of Guadeloupe – where the show is filmed – before his first series in 2014.
Speaking to the Radio Times magazine, he said: “It’s something my wife and I discussed three or four years ago. When I was first offered the job, my son was six months old and my wife wasn’t working, so it was a very easy decision. We decided I would do ‘Death in Paradise’ for a few years until it became impractical. It was always quite a finite thing. I certainly didn’t hide it from anyone I work with.”
The role became tough for Kris – who has starred in the movie ‘Love Actually’ – after he and his wife Hannah welcomed their second child – baby girl Elsie – last year.
He explained: “Every year, except last year, we took Thomas [their son] out with us [to Guadeloupe]. The only reason they didn’t come out last year was become my daughter was born and three months old when filming started. Thomas has basically spent half his life in the Caribbean. Every year he went to the same nursery in Guadeloupe. But now it’s time for him to put on scholastic shackles and toe the line.”
However, some of his friends have told him he’s “mad” for quitting a “hit” and their opinion has already started to play on his mind because he knows they’re right.
He said: “Yes, some people think I’m mad, obviously. And there is an old adage, ‘Don’t quit a hit’, which is very true. I’m going to miss it terribly. There have already been times when I’ve thought to myself, ‘Have I made the right decision?’ ”
Although he’s only just announced his departure, bosses have already found his replacement and have confirmed Ardal O’Hanlon will take on the lead role.
The 51-year-old star will join the rest of the cast as DI Jack Mooney in Saint Marie in the Caribbean following his debut on Thursday night’s (02.02.17) episode.
Of his new role, Ardal said: “I am delighted to be joining ‘Death in Paradise’ and exploring what’s made Mooney up and leave London for a life in the Caribbean. I’ve already had a taste of filming in Guadeloupe and can’t wait to get back.”

The Only Way is Essex cast attacked in Tenerife

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Only Way is Essex’s Chloe Sims and Georgia Kousoulou were involved in a vicious late night attack while they were shooting the special in Tenerife last week.
The blonde beauties – as well as Liam Gatsby, Tommy Mallet and two crew members – were left battered and bruised after they were targeted by a group of thugs outside a McDonald’s on the island following a boozy night out at the Papagayos beach club.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Starving cast and crew headed to McDonald’s before getting taxis back to the hotel.
“While waiting for their food, the men got aggressive and started shouting in Spanish, before a full-on fight broke out once they left the restaurant. The girls were screaming after being laid into by the thugs as Tommy and Liam tried to fight back. Police were called and the thugs ran off, but everyone involved was left badly shaken.”
The cast had been protected by a security team for the majority of their trip but, on this occasion, were forced to fend for themselves as they left the nightclub for some food.
A spokesperson for the show explained: “Our cast and crew were subject to an unprovoked attack following a night out in Tenerife.
“Thankfully the group were able to get to the safety of the hotel with no one seriously injured. The team are now safely back in the UK.”
The reality TV stars flew back to their hometown of Essex last week, while their co-star Gemma Collins was forced to spend some time in a hospital on the Spanish island.
The busty blonde was refused permission to fly home with her friends last Thursday (02.02.17) – her birthday – because doctors were concerned about her health.
The 36-year-old star hasn’t divulged why she was rushed to hospital and forced to spend a week on bed rest but she was given the go-ahead to jet home over the weekend.

Duncan James wants to become judge on The X Factor

OHMYGOSSIP — Duncan James is desperate to become a judge on ‘The X Factor’.
Last year’s panel – comprised of Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne – on the singing show may have gone down a treat with viewers but the Blue hunk thinks he’d be able to bring more to the table if he were to land the gig.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, he said: “I’d like to be a judge on ‘The X Factor’, if Mr Cowell is reading this! I was a judge on a show called ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ and really enjoyed it. It was great to be in that position of power.”
However, for now, the 38-year-old singer is currently busy starring as bad boy Ryan Knight in the Channel 4 soap ‘Hollyoaks’ and is thoroughly enjoying working alongside Jennifer Metcalfe (Mercedes McQueen) and hopes they have more scenes together.
He explained: “Everyone is just lovely; they’ve all be so supportive. But I’ll tell you who’s been really great to work with – Jennifer Metcalfe. She’s always up for rehearsing off camera and making you go over stuff lots of times so you’re really familiar with it. Sometimes you go on to set with an actor and they have their own stuff going on, like they’re on the phone or doing their own thing. But Jen is really just up for rehearsing.”
And Duncan – who identified himself as gay in 2012 but stated he was bisexual three years prior to that – wouldn’t mind practicing the pair’s snogging scenes again.
He said: “I personally really enjoyed snogging Jen – but then, who wouldn’t? She’s a nice girl and a great kisser. I’m definitely down for snogging her some more!”

Amy Walsh is engaged

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Emmerdale’s Amy Walsh has got engaged.
The 29-year-old actress – who is known for portraying Tracy Shankley in the long-running soap – is hoping to tie the knot with her partner Bradley Jaden next year after the long-haired hunk, whom she’s been dating for five years, got down on one knee in August last year in the rainforest while they were on holiday in Thailand.
Speaking to OK! magazine, Amy said: “It’s an amazing feeling. Everything feels more solidified between us. Thailand was the best holiday I’ve ever had…
“We went out for cocktails – I later found out that it was so people could go into our room and decorate it. After our drinks, we got drive back to our room. I was like, ‘Why are we going there?’ We got back to our room but we couldn’t get in! So poor Brad was stood there with the ring in his pocket while we were locked out.
“There was a really romantic moment when we were waiting to be let in. It was really quiet and all we could hear were the noises in the rainforest. We took some pictures, then got the door unlocked and Bad walked me into our room; everywhere was just covered in flowers and candles.
“The bath was full of petals in a heart shape, flowers going down to our swimming pool and a bouquet of roses on the bed. He handed me his phone and it was playing a video with a montage of pictures of us through the years and him singing.”
The couple – who were introduced to one another by Amy’s famous sister Kimberley Walsh – are yet to choose a venue for their big day and have put planning on hold for the time being because Bradley is currently starring in the international tour of ‘Wicked’.
Amy explained: “We don’t have anything in place. We’re hoping it will be in 2018. When Brad’s back we’re going to look at venues. We don’t want to plan our wedding apart. We’ve tried in the last few months over text and it’s just so hard with time differences.”
However, the loved-up pair are open to the idea of getting hitched abroad.
She added: “There’s a few places abroad we like, though we’re not going to say where. I don’t think we’d choose a church. Brad is spiritual but we’re not religious.”

Andrew Marr opens up about stroke

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrew Marr is hoping to have his leg brace removed next year after he was left struggling to walk from his stroke in 2013.
The 57-year-old political broadcaster has opened up about his recovery after he spent a hefty amount of money on treatment in Florida in the US in December, and how he still takes a while to do simple everyday things such as clothing himself.
In new BBC Two documentary, ‘Andrew Marr: My Brain and Me’, he tells the cameras: “I was never suicidal. I was upset. Everyone who goes through this has periods of depression. It’s the small things that accumulate and make life a bit crappier than it otherwise would be.
“It’s that yet again it takes 35 minutes to get dressed; yet again you drop the toast on the floor; yet again you find you can’t walk from A to B properly.”
The programme looks at the different medical treatments on offer and Marr said it was hard to watch it back because he doesn’t like talking about his ailment, however he hopes it will be useful for other sufferers.
He told RadioTimes: “One of the things I said early on was that I didn’t want to become a poster boy for stroke recovery.
“I don’t really like talking about these things, or certainly being filmed. I didn’t enjoy watching the film.
“But when you are in public life, and something bad but very happens to you, 1.4 million people are surviving strokes at the moment – then you have a kind of obligation to share your experience, particularly if it’s positive, and is going to encourage other people.”
‘Andrew Marr: My Brain and Me’ airs on BBC Two on Tuesday (14.02.17).
