Coronation Street's Jane Danson sad she won't work with Kym Marsh anymore

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’s Jane Danson is devastated she won’t get to work with Kym Marsh as much anymore.
The 38-year-old actress – who portrays new mum Leanne Battersby in the long-running soap – has really enjoyed working closely with the brunette beauty, who plays Michelle McDonald, over the past few months but is gutted that their alter egos have now become enemies after it was revealed last week that the restaurant owner’s newborn son belongs to the barmaid’s husband Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson).
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ on Thursday (02.03.17), she said: “I think for Kym and I it’s been a very heavy story. It’s close to both our hearts in so many ways. But we’ve got through it and obviously the big real of the baby was revealed last week so in one sense, although we’ve had all this drama over the last six or seven months, it’s the start of a new chapter, which is how they all deal with the repercussions.
“Given the emotion of the story and the devastating effects that it’s had on everybody’s life but particularly Michelle’s. I don’t know how they can ever go back and you have to look after your own character.
“Obviously, as a viewer, Leanne’s been in the wrong for a lot of it but at the same time I have to look after her and find the reasons why she’s done what she’s done.
“I feel quite sorry for he because never actually goes right…. It’s how they all deal with it. Her relationship with Michelle can’t really go forward, which is a shame because Kym and I love working together.”
The soap came under fire last week when Jane’s character Leanne gave birth in a lift within an unrealistic few minutes but she has admitted they were actually shooting those graphic scenes for two days.
She explained: “It was very strange. I think from a technical point of view, it was very difficult because we had very limited space for lights and cameras and obviously haven given birth twice myself, I know it can be quite a long drawn out process, whereas Leanne’s was about 40 minutes. Although on screen it was literally minutes, we were shooting for 10/12 hours over two days, so technically it was quite difficult.”
Jane has teased that there are a lot of ups and downs to come for the characters involved over the next coming months and, in particular, the breakdown of her relationship with Nick Tilsley (Ben Price).
The 45-year-old actor is set to bow out of the soap as the hunky businessman over the next coming months and, although they’ve still got a little while left before they part ways, Jane is sad he’s leaving.
She said: “I will miss Ben hugely because we’ve worked together for the past eight years and we really get on. Even though the storylines can be quite miserable, we actually have fun and he’s a really good man, really kind and I will miss him a lot.”

Christian Slater to star in Disney's Milo Murphy's Law

OHMYGOSSIP — Christian Slater is set to start in a new Disney Channel show entitled ‘Milo Murphy’s Law’.
The 47-year-old actor will voice Elliot Decker, the arch-nemesis of the titular Milo Murphy – voiced by Grammy-winning satirist Weird Al Yankovic – in the upcoming animated series which will air on the children’s channel starting April 3.
‘Milo Murphy’s Law’ follows the story of 13-year-old Milo, a descendant of the Murphy’s Law namesake and the personification of the law which says anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
Elliot Decker is a volunteering school crossing guard and “self proclaimed Safety Tsar” who spies on Milo as the boy embarks on turning catastrophe into adventure, as Elliot believes him to be a danger to the other people in the city.
Speaking about his role in a promotional video, Christian said: “Elliot Decker, the self-proclaimed Safety Tsar, is certainly a guy who is dealing with Milo Murphy. It’s difficult and challenging as that kid is always getting into some kind of trouble. I’m doing everything I possibly can so that he doesn’t cause any problems.”
Christian also says he is a “huge fan” of Elliot’s look in the show, as the animated character sports sunglasses and a mullet-style haircut.
Other members of the voice vase include Sabrina Carpenter, Vanessa Williams, MeKai Curtis, and Ming-Na Wen.
The programme has been created by ‘Phineas and Ferb’ creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff ‘Swampy’ Marsh, who will also lend their voices to futuristic time travellers Vinnie Dakota and Balthazar Cavendish.
‘Milo Murphy’s Law’ airs on Disney Channel every Monday from April 3.

Marco Pierre White Junior is in talks to appear on Ex On The Beach

OHMYGOSSIP — Marco Pierre White Jr. is reportedly in talks to appear on ‘Ex On The Beach’.
The 22-year-old lothario – who is the son of 55-year-old British chef Marco Pierre White – is rumoured to take part in the upcoming MTV series, which is also known as ‘EOTB’, after he was caught romping with fellow housemate Laura Carter on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ last year.
Speaking to The Sun Online about the dark-haired hunk’s possible upcoming venture, a show insider said: “Marco’s unpredictable nature makes him absolute TV gold.
“When he was in the ‘Big Brother’ house his antics shocked the nation – and he was only in there for a week.
“He could spend an entire month in the ‘EOTB’ villa, which combined with the sunshine, booze and plenty of hot girls is sure to mean plenty of sexy encounters and huge ratings.”
And it has been reported the show’s producers are desperate to get the tattooed hunk on the next season in the hope it will bring out a much “dirtier side” to Marco, and create the “sexiest ever” series.
The source continued: “Producers think that putting him on a show like ‘Ex On The Beach’ will bring out an even dirtier side of him and make this series the sexiest ever.”
Although the television personality has yet to confirm whether he will be taking part in the reality show, he hasn’t denied the rumours either.
When asked about heading to a hotter climate to appear in the programme, which sees a return of everyone’s former partners make a return to the house, he said: “Maybe.”
However, Laura will not be making an appearance on ‘Ex On The Beach’ despite being approached for the sixth series because she wants to pursue her acting career.
The 31-year-old English star’s representative explained: “She was approached for series six, but declined as she’s going back into acting and had work commitments to fulfil.
“They asked her in for an initial meeting, but she declined because she didn’t want to do reality anymore – but she wouldn’t say no to ‘Strictly’ or ‘I’m A Celeb’.”

Great British Bake Off's host hunt

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Great British Bake Off’ bosses are struggling to find replacements for former hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins.
Channel 4 has been tasked with finding new presenters after the duo walked away from the series last year when the broadcaster snatched the rights to the cooking show from the BBC in a mega-money deal.
But it looks like the challenge is proving to be more difficult than they initially thought when they took over the programme as no one is willing to step into Mel and Sue’s shoes for fear they’ll “upset” them.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Channel 4 is gunning to make it the best ever series yet and is trying to sign up huge names. But talks have stalled as to who will replace Mel and Sue as no one in a small industry wants to be seen to be stepping on their toes.
“Big-name chefs with huge gravitas are all desperate to replace Mary [Berry] because they have seen what it has done for her brand and career but young presenters are running scared at the idea of upsetting Mel and Sue.”
Channel 4 and Love Productions – the makers of the series – were initially eyeing up Josh Widdicombe and Kate Quilton for the hosting gig but negotiations have seemingly broken down recently for “one reason or another.”
The insider explained: “Kate and Josh fitted the mould of what Love and C4 want in a presenter, but it didn’t work out for one reason or another.
“They are determined to get the best possible presenters they can but they are still a while off yet because so many of the obvious candidates love ‘…Bake Off’. No one wants to be the person who took it on and failed.”
But it’s not just new hosts bosses are on a frantic hunt for as they’re also trying to find a replacement for Mary Berry – who quit the show a few days after Mel and Sue walked away – to work alongside Paul Hollywood.
Prue Leith is the hot favourite to replace the baking queen on the show but, although she has admitted she is “close” to landing her “dream job”, she believes she still has competition from someone else at the moment.
She said recently: “I’m certainly one of the runners. I can wish. I can dream. I’ve had two auditions with them and lots of meetings. So I mean I think I’m close but I know there are two people in the running. One other person. Of course I’d love to do it. Who wouldn’t want to do it? I’ve known Mary for years and she loved it.”
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ hit the headlines in September when it was announced that Love Productions had chosen to accept a three-year deal from Channel 4 after negotiations between them and the BBC broke down because they weren’t willing to offer a large enough sum.
Within hours of the news breaking, Mel and Sue – who have fronted the programme since it first hit screens six years ago – revealed they had quit their roles as hosts in order to explore other ventures.
A few days later, Mary decided she too would step down as a judge on the show out of “loyalty” to the BBC, while her co-star Paul, 50, caused a storm when he accepted Channel 4’s offer to remain with the series.

Loose Women reported to Ofcom

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV’s ‘Loose Women’ has been reported to industry regulator Ofcom after comments made by panellist Linda Robson.
The 58-year-old actress angered viewers when she seemed to describe residents of Stoke-on-Trent as “poor” during a discussion about a woman who was prosecuted for pocketing a £20 note she found on the floor of a shop in Blurton.
Linda said that the store where the incident took place looked “poor”, adding that its customers didn’t appear to have “a lot of money”.
The remarks prompted an official complaint from Blurton resident Kirsty Bailey, who argued Linda’s comments were ill-informed.
She said: “I just thought it was pretty disgusting to be honest. She knows nothing about the area.
“I felt she was speaking ill of the working class and the people of Blurton in general. With all the bad press the city has had recently – this is just another blow.”
Kirsty said that Blurton is distinctly different to what Linda’s remarks would leave people to believe.
She told the Stoke Sentinel newspaper: “The people of Blurton are friendly and community-minded – there is nothing wrong with us.
“It would be nice to see people change their opinions of Stoke-on-Trent and other parts of the city. It was awful the way it was portrayed during the by-election.”
During the discussion on ‘Loose Women’, Linda insisted she would always hand money into the authorities if she found it in the street.
The actress explained: “Whatever I lose, I always seem to get. I love those people who hand things in and that is why I’d always hand anything in that I found.
“If I found £20 in a shop I would have said ‘do you know who this belongs to?’ It looks like quite a poor shop – it’s not Waitrose or Marks and Spencer.
“It looks like they don’t have a lot of money, the people who shop there.”

Tamzin Outhwaite fractures foot

OHMYGOSSIP — Tamzin Outhwaite has fractured her foot.
The 46-year-old actress – known for playing Melanie Owen in ‘EastEnders’ from 1998 until 2002 – has been forced to temporarily pull out of her West End show ‘Stepping Out’, in which she plays Marvis, at London’s Vaudeville Theatre because of her injury.
Taking to her Instagram account on Wednesday (01.03.17) night, the blonde beauty uploaded a photograph of her foot in a brace with crutches perched on her thigh.
A few hours later she admitted that she was “heartbroken” that her painful foot meant that she couldn’t join the rest of the cast – including Amanda Holden – on stage for the first preview at the beautiful theatre and was, instead, watching from the stalls.
She said: “This brilliant cast are doing their 1st preview tonight… they are all amazing and am heartbroken not to be up there with them. Have a ball my friends.”
Producers confirmed that Katie Verner will be stepping in for Tamzin this week and Anna-Jane Casey will take over the role next week until the star is ready to return.
The statement said: “Anna-Jane Casey – Stepping In for Tamzin Outhwaite. . In an unfortunate twist of fate, Tamzin Outhwaite has been forced to temporarily withdraw from the production with a stress fracture of her foot. Stepping into Ms Outhwaite’s tap shoes until she has been given the medical all clear to rejoin her friends in the production will be Anna-Jane Casey (West Side Story, Chicago and Billy Elliot), who will temporarily join the cast from next week. Prior to Anna-Jane’s debut, the role will be played by Katie Verner. . ‘It is sad to lose Tamzin,’ says Amanda Holden. ‘It is ironic and, of course, in keeping with the theme of the show in many ways. However we can assure everyone who comes a fun and entertaining evening and we can’t wait to get started with the previews. We look forward to Tamzin returning very soon. (sic)”
It’s not known how Tamzin hurt her foot or when she’ll return to the stage.

Logan 'could be made in black and white'

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Logan’ director James Mangold is working on a black and white version of the movie.
The 53-year-old filmmaker is currently basking in the critical acclaim of the sci-fi movie – but has revealed to a fan on Twitter that he has plans to make ‘Logan’ in black and white, too.
@AdamMcDee tweeted the director, saying: “So…@mang0ld, by all that is good in the world, please let there be a release of Logan that is black and white. I need that in my life. (sic)”
And James replied: “Workin’ on it. (sic)”
This comes shortly after James claimed the R rating for ‘Logan’ was key to the movie’s success.
The director – who previously helmed the much-maligned ‘Wolverine’ in 2013 – said that he and Hollywood star Hugh Jackman pushed to create a more adult movie so it would avoid the conventions of a typical superhero film.
James explained: “I knew that if Hugh and I could get an R, then we’ll have the freedom to make an adult film.
“Because the second the marketing arm of a studio realises it cannot market to children, five or six creative things happen. The scenes can go deeper, and can be written for adults. Not just language, not just [violence], as you’re saying, but the themes can be more interesting, the words you’re using can be more complicated. The ideas can be more complicated.”
The director also said that the R rating means there is less pressure to fill ‘Logan’ with the sort of gimmicks that can create merchandising money.
James shared: “The film comes under no pressure to be a platform for the sale of toys. Because there’s going to be no kids to see it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bella Thorne is set to star in ‘Assassination Nation’.
The 19-year-old actress has been cast in the upcoming thriller movie alongside 26-year-old ‘Allegiant’ star Bill Skarsgard, 45-year-old comedian Joel McHale and ‘Selma’ star Colman Domingo, 47, and Maude Apatow.
According to Variety the script for the production has been penned by Sam Levinson, who will also direct the project, whilst Foxtail Entertainment, Phantom Four and Bron Studios will produce the film.
And 25-year-old model – who has graced the runway for designer brands including Burberry and Tommy Hilfiger – will also star in the forthcoming film and play the role of Sarah, alongside fellow model Hari Nef, 24, Odessa Young and singer Abra.
It has been reported the cast will join forces to start shooting scenes for ‘Assassination Nation’ this Spring in Louisiana.
The film will follow a group of four teenage girls who suddenly get unwanted attention from across the globe after personal information about them has been leaked by an unknown hacker.
Foxtail Entertainment’s producers, Matthew Malek and Anita Gou, who will be behind the project are extremely pleased with the “amazing ensemble cast”.
They said: “We couldn’t be happier with this amazing ensemble cast that is going to bring ‘Assassination Nation’ to life in a big way.”
And Malek and Gou believe Levinson’s “strong vision” for the movie and the “killer cast” will make for an unforgettable and entertaining film.
They continued: “Sam has such a strong vision for the film that will combine an incredible story, a unique visual style, and now a killer cast that is anything but ordinary.”
David Goyer – who worked on ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ – will co-produce ‘Assassination Nation’ alongside Malek, Gou, Kevin Turen and Aaron L. Gilbert, whilst Creative Wealth Media’s Jason Cloth and Andy Pollack are on board to executive produce the project.

Kelly Brook slams 'pointless' Lorraine appearance

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelly Brook has slammed her own appearance on ‘Lorraine’ as “pointless”.
The 37-year-old model recently appeared as a guest fashion editor on the morning show but didn’t enjoy the experience because she thought the job was “silly”.
She said: “I’m not trying to be a TV presenter or work on telly in the UK every day.
“If it’s something that’s a bit challenging or fun, then I’ll do it.
“But it was a three-minute segment on a morning show. I just didn’t like all the attention that came with it. It was a bit pointless.
“I don’t mind the attention if it’s something that’s a big deal, but I didn’t think it was – talking about a few dresses on a morning show.
“I left and said, ‘I don’t really want to do this, it’s a bit silly.”
And Kelly suggested she didn’t even like the clothes she had to talk about on the programme.
She said: “Lorraine introduced me as ‘The most enthusiastic woman in the world’ and I thought, well, I’m not really – I’m just trying to make the best of the clothes you’ve given me.”
The former ‘Big Breakfast’ host just doesn’t think she is “cut out” for morning television after being criticised for her chirpy demeanour.
She said: “I think I’m a bit too much for people, I was criticised for being too energetic and loud.
“I was like, ‘Maybe I shouldn’t come back?’ They wanted me to but I told them I thought they should get someone else. I don’t think I’m cut out for morning TV.”
Kelly famously landed a judging role on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in 2009 but was axed after less than a week.
Despite the experience, she’d still like to go back if she was offered the job again.
She told OK! magazine: “I like Simon Cowell and everyone at ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. I’m open to anything. It’s a business and I don’t really feel personal about things like that. It didn’t work and I left. But if they wanted me to go back and thing had changed, of course I’d go back. I don’t really think about it though.”

Trolls 2 set for release in 2020

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Trolls 2′ is set for release in three years’ time.
Universal and DreamWorks Animation’s popular fantasy-adventure film proved such a hit at the box office – raking in $339.5 million – last year that movie executives have decided to make a sequel and have confirmed it’ll hit the big screen on April 10, 2020.
Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake will reprise their roles as the eternal optimist Poppy and the curmudgeon Branch, respectively, in the new musical comedy-adventure but it’s believed that the director Mike Mitchell will not be returning to take hold of the reins because he has already filled his schedule by signing up to direct Warner Bros’ sequel to ‘The Lego Movie’, which has a release date of February 8, 2019, according to Variety.
As well as being a huge hit with film critics, the soundtrack has also been heavily praised as Justin’s song ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ received an Oscar nomination.
However, although he didn’t win the gong at the ceremony last weekend, Justin recently admitted that he was worried that he and co-writers Max Martin and Karl Johan Schuster wouldn’t be able to pen a track that would work for the animated characters.
He said: “This has to work for the moment, these characters, and be filmic. It took a second to crack the code. I remember thinking, ‘We’re not gonna be able to do this.’
“This wasn’t just like writing a song for a movie – it was writing a song for characters that are going to sing it in the movie.
“That part had to work, and that’s the part that made it a task that none of us had ever done. And we had to push ourselves to do something that works in that way.”
But once they got started, the trio discovered knew that they could pull it off.
He explained: “Once we got the hook going, that’s usually how it goes. Once you get the hook you can base everything off that.”

Jennifer Hudson can't understand any of her acts

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Hudson can’t understand what her acts say because of their accents.
The 35-year-old American singer is currently a mentor on BBC One show ‘The Voice’, and with her final contestants now ready to battle it out to be one step closer to their singing dreams under the guidance of the star, Jennifer says there is a dialect barrier.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ on Tuesday (01.03.17), she said: “I’m struggling because I have to look and look and I’m like, ‘what they say?’ ”
She explained to her acts – who appeared alongside her on the show – and hosts Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield: “Because to me each of your accents is completely different and I know mine is different to y’all because y’all give me the same look and you gotta know what I’m saying, and I’ll be like, ‘why you looking at me like that?’ and I’m like, ‘oh wait, you don’t know what I’m saying’ and half of them are like, ‘what did they say’ then it comes to me.”
The contestants that remain on Team Jennifer for the live finals are 21-year-old Mo Adeniran, who won his place in the team after battling against Diamond in the sing-offs. Georgie Braggins, 21, after winning her battle against Liza Baker, David Jackson, 29, who won a battle against Israel J Allen singing ‘It’s Your World’ by none other than Jennifer Hudson herself. Plus Jamie Miller, 19, Jack Bruley, 20 and Tim Gallagher.
And despite being up against fellow judges Will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and Gavin Rossdale, Jennifer is confident she is the right person to find a star – having gone from underdog as a contestant on 2004’s ‘American Idol’ to Oscar-winner.
She said: “I think it does because I can relate to the contestants and I feel like it helps them too, to say, ‘I know what they’re going through’, through each phase and to know how precious this is to them. Because it’s like you get this one moment to have an opportunity of a lifetime, like, I get all of that because I went through it.”
She added: “You have it in your hands, you’re there, you’re in it.”

Nicola McLean 'can't see' out of her eye

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicola McLean “can barely see” out of her right eye.
The 35-year-old former glamour model was captured covering the visual organ during her stint on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ earlier this year, and although the star has admitted she has “always” had problems with her eyesight, the rapid development of an “adult squint” over the past few months has left her worried about her health.
Speaking to The Sun Online, the blonde beauty – who had a squint in the other eye rectified as a child – said: “I have always had bad eyesight in my left eye but my right eye has always been fine and then about two months before ‘Big Brother’ I noticed my eyesight changing. Now I can barely see out of this eye, I’m talking barely see, I’ve got a contact in it now. Basically what’s happened is, this right eye, I can’t see out of but it’s also developed an adult squint, which is so rare. That’s why I was so paranoid about it, as what would happen is, I would take the contact lens out, get in bed, then all the arguments would kick off so I’d have to cover my eye.
“I can’t focus with it, so it wanders, without glasses or a contact it just wanders everywhere because I can’t see out of it.”
Although Nicola’s problem can be resolved, she still won’t be able to see out of one eye and she is very “concerned” because it is a “rare” to develop the condition later in life.
The television personality – who has sons Rocky and Striker with her husband Tom Williams – said: “The muscles at the back need to be tightened and that will rectify it being straight, but I still won’t be able to see out of it.
“So we need to work out why the vision’s gone from being OK to so bad.
“I’m OK because with a contact or my glasses it’s fine, mine’s not a lazy eye it’s a proper squint, so if I took my contact lens out now it would just wander.
“It can be corrected but it’s very, very rare to get an adult squint so that’s what it was, I didn’t want to be on telly with an eye wandering so I’d cover it.
“If I don’t cover the right one I can’t see out of the left one, because when the right one shuts down the left one does, so I needed to cover the right to be able to see.
“It is quite bad but I’ll be able to get it sorted.
“The prescription to go from good to as bad as it is is not normal. It’s quite concerning.”

Sharon Osbourne to pull out of X Factor?

OHMYGOSSIP — Sharon Osbourne may be forced to pull out of ‘The X Factor’.
Bosses could find themselves on a frantic hunt for a replacement judge because the 64-year-old music manager – who is set to return to the panel this summer – is suffering from a trapped nerve in her back and may have to undergo surgery to repair it.
The extreme pain meant that Sharon couldn’t record her US TV show ‘The Talk’ last week but she was able to return this week after having an injection in her spine.
She said: “Right now I happen to have trapped nerve in my back and it’s killing me. I have a trapped nerve…a pinch between my L3 and L4 and I had to have, what is it when you have a baby, an epidural. There was no baby, but I had an epidural and I woke up to no baby, just a bad back. Anyway, um yes. That’s why I wasn’t in last week. I wait another week and if it hasn’t fixed it then I have to have surgery.”
The redhead doesn’t know how she damaged the nerves in her back but is currently having daily physiotherapy sessions to try and relive the pain.
She explained: “I just bent down. I bent down picking something up. Nothing, nothing, nothing and it was like ‘oh that was a bit rough’ when I came back up and I didn’t think anything of it. A couple of hours later it was like a stabbing pain.”
However, if Sharon does need to go under the knife to fix her trapped nerve, doctors will no doubt advise her not to travel to the UK from her home in the US and she may, therefore, miss the audition stages of the singing competition.
The line up for this year’s panel is yet to be confirmed.

Benedict Cumberbatch to portray playboy in new series

OHMYGOSSIP — Benedict Cumberbatch is set to play an aristocratic playboy in a new TV series.
The ‘Sherlock’ hunk will play womaniser Patrick Melrose in the forthcoming Sky Atlantic five-part show ‘Melrose’, which is based on Edward St Aubyn’s semi-autobiographical novels, and act as one of the producers alongside his business partner Adam Ackland.
The pair said: “We are delighted to be part of this incredible series. We have been huge fans of these books for many years and David Nicholls’ adaptations are extraordinary.”
David Nicholls will write the five episodes, which will be set in the south of France in the 1960s, New York in the 1980s and Britain in the early 2000s, based on the novels.
He said: “I’ve been a huge admirer of Edward St Aubyn’s novels for years, and can’t wait to bring these dark, witty, brilliant books to the screen. Benedict is the perfect Melrose.”
The novels are loosely based on the author’s own life – growing up in a dysfunctional upper-class English family, dealing with the deaths of his mother and father, alcoholism, heroin addiction and recovery, marriage and parenthood.
The official announcement explained that the story “hilariously skewers the upper class as it tracks the protagonist’s harrowing odyssey from a deeply traumatic childhood through adult substance abuse, and ultimately, towards recovery.”
Shooting for ‘Melrose’ will kick off in July and is set to air on Sky Atlantic next year.

Toby Kebbell: Kong has a 'massive presence' in Kong: Skull Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Toby Kebbell says Kong has a “massive presence” in ‘Kong: Skull Island’.
The 34-year-old actor provided guidance for the titular colossal ape’s CGI motion capture in the upcoming reboot of the popular creature movie franchise which was first established in the 1933 eponymously titled movie ‘King Kong’, and has said the way technology has moved forward allows for the character to shine as the “lead of the film”.
Speaking at the European premiere of the movie in London’s Leicester Square on Tuesday (28.02.17), Toby said: “I think this time what ILM did with creating the creature and asking myself to come in and give Kong the detail and the emotion, I think you’re seeing a Kong that this time has a massive presence. I think he’s the lead of the film.”
And Toby – who also stars as US Army Major Jack Chapman in the production – believes the reason Kong is such a popular character lies in the fact that audiences hope the giant creature will save them when they need him.
He added: “We’re always frightened of that terrifying thing when we arrive and it’s trying to destroy us, but then when we’re in trouble and we need someone huge then you know, we hope Kong will turn up.”
Meanwhile, Toby’s co-star Tom Hiddleston – who plays Captain James Conrad in the action adventure movie – said Kong’s appeal comes from how “captivated” audiences are by his “power and majesty”.
He said previously: “He is truly monstrous in size and scale and scope. He’s 90 feet tall.
“We’re captivated by Kong’s power and majesty. He is the mystery of the unknown, he is a terrifying force of nature with an intelligence we don’t understand.”

Birds of a Feather to get festive special?

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Birds of a Feather’ may return for another festive special this year.
The last Christmas episode of the popular sitcom, which was shot in Malta, proved such a huge hit with viewers that bosses are in talks to do another installment, but they are in the process of “sorting out dates” so that Linda Robson, Pauline Quirke and Lesley Joseph – who play Tracey Stubbs, Sharon Theodopolopodous and Doreen Green in the show respectively – can free up their diaries to shoot the scenes.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ on Wednesday (01.03.17), Linda said: “Yes, there are talks (to do another series) actually. There are talks of a Christmas special because the last Christmas special did so well. We were so proud of it – it was like a ‘Birds of a Feather’ film that we never got to make. So we went to Malta to film it and everything but yes, there are talks. They’re just sorting out dates and all of that.”
However, there could be more exciting things in the pipeline for ‘Birds of a Feather’, which first aired in 1989 and was revived 15 years later in 2014, as bosses have mentioned that they’d like to have a crossover series with ‘Benidorm’.
Speaking previously, Lesley said: “We’re waiting to hear what we’re going to do. We’re not sure at the moment but ITV have loved it and we’re all waiting to hear if we’re doing another series or a special. I want to go abroad. Linda Robson is queen of the tweets and somebody tweeted her, ‘Why don’t we do ‘Birds’ meets ‘Benidorm’?’ Can you actually imagine ‘Birds of a Feather’ go to Benidorm? It would just be a match made in heaven.”
