J.D Dillard in talks to direct The Fly remake

OHMYGOSSIP — J.D Dillard is in talks to direct the remake of ‘The Fly’.
The screenwriter, who made his directorial feature debut at Sundance 2016 with ‘Sleight’, is in negotiations to direct and co-write a remake of the classic horror flick for 20th Century Fox.
Should the deal go-ahead, he would pen the script alongside writing partner Alex Theurer, according to Deadline.
The proposed reboot would be based on David Cronenberg’s 1986 horror gore-fest which tells the story of scientist Seth Brundle who mutates into a grotesque human/fly hybrid after a teleportation experiment goes wrong and starred Jeff Goldblum as Brundle and Geena Davis.
Cronenberg’s cult classic is itself a remake of Kurt Neumann’s 1958 film which was based on a short story by George Langelaan that was published in the June 1957 issue of Playboy magazine.
The 1958 original was followed by two sequels; ‘Return of the Fly’ in 1959 and ‘Curse of the Fly’ in 1965.
In 1989, ‘The Fly II’ followed the 1986 version but Cronenberg was not involved in the project.
Should Dillard and Theurer team up for a fresh take on ‘The Fly’ it will not be the first time the pair have worked together as Dillard directed and co-wrote dramatic thriller ‘Sleight’ along with Theurer – which blended science fiction and street magic in a tale set in Los Angeles.
WWE Studios and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse acquired the title after it premiered in the Sundance Film Festival’s Next section last year.
‘Sleight’ hits cinemas on April 28 and until then, Dillard is in pre-production on ‘Sweetheart’, also for Blumhouse.
That horror/thriller, which he co-wrote with Theurer as well as Alex Hyner, is to star Dope’s Kiersey Clemons.

Jeremy McConnell flees to Ireland to get 'space'

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy McConnell has flown home to Ireland without Stephanie Davis and their son Caben-Albi.
The 27-year-old Irish hunk has decided to leave Liverpool, where he was renting a flat near to the 24-year-old actress’ home, because he wants “space” to grieve for his late father and aunt surrounded by his “close friends and family”.
Speaking about the tattooed reality star to The Sun Online, a source said: “Jeremy has temporarily left Liverpool – where he’s been renting a flat nearby Stephanie’s home – to be with close friends and family in Ireland.
“He needs the support of loved ones during this tough time and has headed home so he can have space to properly grieve.
“It’s been incredibly stressful for Jeremy – losing your aunt and dad in such a short space of time would be difficult for anyone.”
Jeremy has endured a turbulent relationship with the brunette beauty ever since the pair met on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ in 2016, and although the on/off couple recently tried to rekindle their romance they have yet again split-up, which is believed to be down to the “strain” the model has been under.
The source explained: “As a result his relationship with Stephanie has become strained again but hopefully some time apart will do them both good.”
And it has been reported the duo’s rows can be over heard by their neighbours outside of their home, whilst other arguments are believed to have spilled out onto the street.
A separate source said previously: “There have been some bitter, furious and shocking rows between them over the past few weeks.
“The neighbours can hear them from inside their house – and at points their arguing has even spilled on to the street.
“Steph’s house is in a very well-to-do area and she has a lot of older neighbours.”

Alfonso Cuaron 'dreamed' of making Roma

OHMYGOSSIP — Oscar winner Alfonso Cuaron has revealed he “always dreamed” of making his new movie ‘Roma’.
In his first movie since 2013’s ‘Gravity’ – which earned him the Best Director Academy Award, as well as winning six other Oscars – the 55-year-old writer-and-director has just wrapped shooting on the drama, which is based on a year-in-the-life of a middle-class family living in Mexico City during the early 1970s.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday (14.03.17) announcing the movie, Cuaron revealed many elements of the movie are based on his own childhood which is why it was so important for him to get the project off the ground.
He said: “Returning to my country with this specific project was something very personal, because we made a film set in the 1970s, with many elements and experiences of my childhood.”
Using an anecdote that fellow Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro once told him, he continued: “Del Toro told me that certain movies are like a box of cereal with a prize included, because when you’re a kid, you eat it all up to know what you got. ‘Gravity’ was for me that little toy, and I made the decision to use it to go back to Mexico and make the film I had always dreamed of.”
Last September, Alfonso partnered with Participant Media to make the film, which is his first since ‘Y Tu Mamá También’ made him a star on the international film circuit.
Cuaron explained that the movie is called ‘Roma’ because of how he has seen Mexico City develop over the past four decades. He teased that he captures the changes in infrastructure and the arts in the film but kept tight-lipped on what the script was about.
However, it has been reported that the film will include a major historical event called the Corpus Christi Massacre, in which soldiers killed liberal student protesters in Mexico City on June 10, 1971.
And speaking about returning to his home city to shoot, Cuaron declared: “I can live abroad, but my head always thinks about Mexico and as a Mexican I am always aware of what is happening in my country … returning to Mexico to make movies was a necessity.”
The cast list hasn’t yet been revealed either, though it is believed to be made up mostly of local actors.
Cuaron, Gabriela Rodriguez and Nicolas Celis have produced the film, while Linde, Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King from Participant Media will serve as executive producers.
‘Roma’ is expected to be released in 2018.

The Replacement won't get another series

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Replacement’ won’t get another series.
The writer and director of the BBC One drama, Joe Ahearne, has no plans to give fans another instalment of the popular show despite getting rave reviews from Tuesday night’s (14.03.17) finale, which saw Paula Reece (Vicky McClure) outed as a raving lunatic, who attempted to kill Ellen Rooney (Morven Christie) so she could pinch her man and mother her baby.
Ahearne says he has decided not to give the show another run because he likes leaving viewers “wanting more” and he doesn’t think he could revive both Paula and Ellen.
He said: “I think it’s quite good to leave people wanting more.
“And also, I think it would be quite difficult to get those two characters together without either amnesia or plastic surgery.”
Despite being aware that fans of the programme want to see more episodes, Ahearne admits he wouldn’t dedicate “20 hours” to watching a show like ‘The Replacement’.
He told RadioTimes.com: “It’s very much a self-contained drama. I am very much a fan of beginning, middle and end, and quite a lot of drama on telly both here and in American they want it to be all middle. They like it to go on forever.
“When I am a viewer I don’t necessarily want to commit 20 hours of myself to something.
“So very few stories really repay that. It’s the commercial imperative of TV, it’s what everyone wants.”
As the final show drew to a close, lead star Vicky took to Twitter to pay tribute to her co-star Morven and praise Ahearne’s writing and direction.
Sharing a picture of the pair on Instagram, she wrote: “What a response! Thank you for all your messages. And I can’t express my love for Morven enough! We had the best time making this! Made a friend for life. Joe Ahearne take a bow, your writing and direction was a joy to be a part of #the replacement (sic)”

Robert Pattinson ate live maggots for Lost City deleted scene

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Pattinson ate live maggots for his role in ‘The Lost City of Z’ – but his stomach-churning feat was all for nothing as the scene was cut.
The 30-year-old British actor plays Corporal Henry Costin in the real-life biographical film about British adventure Colonel Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam) who travelled deep into the unexplored Amazon at the dawn of the 20th century and discovers a new ancient civilisation.
As well as growing a beard for his role, Pattinson was prepared to do anything required of him by director James Gray to make his performance as believable as possible including munching on the fly larvae, only to discover his bravery for the cameras ended up on the cutting room floor.
In an interview with Metro newspaper, he said: “It was so gross – I was eating them and stuff. I think they had to cut the scene to get the rating down.”
Speaking about the facial fuzz he had to grow for the role, Pattinson added: “The real Henry Costin had a very dramatic Victorian moustache. I thought with my face that I might look too Noel Coward, so I had to do a full-on beard for eight months. It was pretty awful – I ended up getting these disgusting ingrown hairs all over my face. Gah! I shouldn’t get into that!”
Pattinson – who is best known for playing vampire Edward Cullen in the ‘Twilight Saga’ – and his castmates, including Sienna Miller, had to brave a host of deadly animals when shooting on location in Colombia and although he was fine with the wildlife the bugs that invaded his hotel room freaked him out.
He shared: “There were caimans in the river and me and Charlie were swimming around them. One of the crew got bitten in the face by an arbor viper. The props master went straight in, sucked the venom and spat it out – he had no idea what he was doing, he’d just finished on ‘EastEnders’, but the guy was fine. There were so many dangerous creatures everywhere in the jungle, you don’t worry. But when I’d come back to my hotel, I’d see one ant in my room and freak out.”
Pattinson enjoyed playing the wingman to Hunnam’s Fawcett as he believes the supporting role gave him more opportunities to “experiment” on screen.
He said: “You can plays things more eccentrically if you are on the sideline. You don’t have the responsibility to drive the central story forward, so you can do more flourishes and experiment.”

Antiques Roadshow makes pricey find

OHMYGOSSIP — An item brought to the ‘Antiques Roadshow’ was worth a “jaw-dropping six figure sum”.
Presenter Fiona Bruce and her team of experts pitch up at Burton Constable Hall in Hull in episodes airing over the next two weeks, and are stunned by the bizarre items presented for them to cast their eye over.
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, one item is worth the staggering shock amount, while others handed over for valuation included a ship’s anchor found in a garden pond, a medal given for heroism to a sailor in the early 1900s after he helped break Captain Scott’s ship out of Antarctic ice, and a late-Victorian moth brooch thought to have been a fairly cheap wedding present when handed over in 1983, but it turns out to be encrusted with diamonds.
There is also a collection of 1,500 Georgian shoe buckles which prove to be a sound investment.
And one odd item is a bronze figure, which the unnamed owner bought for cash and a round of fish and chip suppers.
The owner said: “It lives with us in Hull. I bought her from a friend and I own a fish and chip shop, so I paid £200 plus 10 lots of fish and chips.”
Expert Chris Yeo replied: “A few fish suppers, that is certainly a first for me when it comes to payment.
“It’s a statement piece and very elegant.”
Find out how much the items are worth when the episode of ‘Antiques Roadshow’ airs on March 26.

X Factor star Kieran Alleyne splits from his pregnant girlfriend

OHMYGOSSIP — 5 After Midnight’s Kieran Alleyne has split from his girlfriend Sophie Johnson weeks before she is due to give birth.
The former ‘X Factor’ star – whose group made it to the show’s semi-final stage in 2016 – has ended his 16-month relationship with Sophie, but still intends to support her and their newborn son.
He shared: “No matter what our relationship status may be, I still consider Sophie to be my best friend.
“I know she will be the most amazing mother to our son. I’m looking forward to us starting a new chapter together as great friends and committed parents to our baby boy.
“We are both incredibly excited to welcome him into the world together.”
Sophie’s pregnancy was one of the main sub-plots to last year’s ‘X Factor’ series and while 5 After Midnight are on the verge of releasing their debut single, Kieran won’t allow his burgeoning pop career to distract him from his responsibilities as a parent.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Kieran will still be at the birth and all his fans and friends know how important that is to him.
“He is also committed to supporting both Sophie and their son going forward.”
Although 5 After Midnight failed to win ‘The X Factor’, the popular trio of Kieran, Nathan Lewis and Jordan Lee did enough to convince music mogul Simon Cowell that they were worthy of a record deal.
Simon reportedly feels the group could eventually become global stars, filling a void that currently exists in the market.
A source previously said: “Simon has been a big fan of 5AM throughout the series.
“Out of all the artists he thinks 5AM have the biggest gap in the market. There are very few boybands around at the moment and even fewer urban boybands who dance.”

Prue Leith: There's no hard feelings with me and Mary Berry

OHMYGOSSIP — Prue Leith has insisted there’s no hard feelings between her and Mary Berry, as Prue looks set to take over Mary’s role on ‘The Great British Bake Off.’
The 77-year-old restaurateur is yet to put pen to paper on a deal to take over from the culinary queen on the baking competition later this year, but has said there’s “no competition” between the pair as they’ve been friends for what feels like “a hundred years”.
Prue said: “We started together and we’ve been friends for a hundred years. There wasn’t really competition because she was doing much more telly than me for a long time. And then I was doing more telly than her and she was doing all the Aga stuff. Then I started doing ‘The Great British Menu’ and she started doing ‘The Great British Bake Off’ about five years later.”
And Prue also let slip that Thomasina Miers, founder of Mexican restaurant chain Wahaca, and television chef Rachel Allen are the two people in the running to replace previous hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, but said nothing would be officially announced until bosses were happy with their on-screen chemistry.
She told The Sun newspaper: “I know what’s happening, they’re trying to cast Mel and Sue and they’ve got to make sure that we all gel. I don’t know who is in the frame for definite but I’m pretty sure it’s Thomasina Miers and Rachel Allen, who are both much younger than me, much better looking and much better bakers.”
Previously, Channel 4 bosses said they would announce the completed line-up “in due course.”
A Channel 4 spokesman said: “We will announce the line-up for the next series of The ‘Great British Bake Off’ in due course.”
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ hit the headlines in September last year when it was announced that Love Productions – the makers of the series – had chosen to accept a three-year deal from Channel 4 after negotiations between them and the BBC broke down because they weren’t willing to offer a large enough sum.
Within hours of the news breaking, Mel and Sue – who have fronted the programme since it first hit screens six years ago – revealed they had quit their roles as hosts in order to explore other ventures.
A few days later, Mary decided she too would step down as a judge on the show out of “loyalty” to the BBC, while her co-judge Paul, 50, caused a storm when he accepted Channel 4’s offer to remain with the series.

The Matrix reboot is 'in the works'

OHMYGOSSIP — A reboot of ‘The Matrix’ is being developed by Warner Bros.
The movie studio is currently exploring the possibility of relaunching the iconic franchise, which is considered to be among the most influential in recent cinematic history, and Michael B. Jordan is being eyed for a starring role in the new project.
The Wachowski siblings, who wrote and directed the three original movies, are not currently involved in the discussions.
However, it is thought that the studio will want any new movie to at least be given their blessing before Warner Bros. presses ahead with the plan, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Joel Silver, who produced the original movies, is reported to have approached Warner Bros. about making a new film.
But Silver sold his interest in all his movies to the studio in 2012 for around $30 million, and the studio is said to be reluctant to include him in the project because he has a strained relationship with the Wachowskis.
The original ‘Matrix’ movies starred Keanu Reeves – who played a computer hacker named Neo – and the Hollywood star recently confessed he would like to revisit the series.
But Keanu also admitted he didn’t know whether the directors, Lana and Lilly Wachowski, would be keen on the idea.
Keanu shared: “I don’t know about the Wachowskis. They would probably do something really original. I’d certainly like to see what would happen and more exploration of that world.”
He revealed, too, that he was undecided about the prospect of the sci-fi franchise going down the remake route.
Keanu said: “Don’t do that. Not a remake. But you could actually. I think what’s cool … When a story gets embraced, then if it has a tradition, and it becomes to have a lineage.
“I think it’s cool that when another time takes that story and makes it their own, so I wouldn’t categorically say that would be bad.”

Hugh Jackman initially unsure about Logan ending

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Jackman was initially unsure about the ending of ‘Logan’.
The 48-year-old actor makes his eighth and final appearance as the clawed mutant Wolverine in the recently released ‘X-Men’ spin-off, and has said he wasn’t sure about the movie’s final scenes when he first read the script.
In the movie, Wolverine – also known as the titular Logan – meets a noble end when defending X-23 and her fellow young mutants from the Reavers, and Hugh admits he originally believed it would have been “more powerful” if he didn’t die.
Speaking to Yahoo, Hugh said: “It was always floated that Logan would possibly die. I said, ‘Let’s be open, because it may be more powerful for him not to die … James was always certain of that ending, and he was right. Unlike a human character, what’s most poignant for someone who is thought to be indestructible is him dying while saying, ‘This is what it feels like.'”
Meanwhile, Hugh recently said he was pleased he and the movie’s director James Mangold pushed to get the feature an R rating, as it it has been a relief for him to be able to portray the character’s dark side free from restrictions.
He said: “It seems to me that Wolverine may be one of the darkest, most complex characters in the comic-book universe.
“Every time for the last 17 years I’ve seen PG-13, a little part of me has winced going, ‘Wolverine would never be in a PG-13 movie’.
“All Jim and I were apprehensive about was taking off the seatbelt, taking off any kind of restriction and just diving into this character.”
But the star also insisted the movie hasn’t been given such a high rating because of violent content.
He added: “It’s not R rated because of the violence, although there is R-rated violence in it.
“That rating is about the subject matter, the way the characters are treated as well as the way the violence is depicted.
“I think this is far more realistic than anything we’ve done before in the ‘X-Men’ franchise and maybe many other comic-book movies, far more human.”

Stephanie Davis' neighbours hear her arguments

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephanie Davis’ neighbours can hear her arguments with Jeremy McConnell from outside her house.
The 24-year-old actress and the Irish hunk have had a turbulent relationship ever since they met on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ last year, and it has been reported the on/off couple, who have recently ended their romance again, can be heard squabbling from the streets outside the former ‘Hollyoaks’ star’s home.
Speaking to The Sun Online about the duo – who have eight-week-old son Caben-Albi together – and their bitter feuds, a source said: “There have been some bitter, furious and shocking rows between them over the past few weeks.
“The neighbours can hear them from inside their house – and at points their arguing has even spilled on to the street.
“Steph’s house is in a very well-to-do area and she has a lot of older neighbours.”
Although the pair have “incredible sexual chemistry”, it is believed their lack of trust in one another is the catalyst for their ongoing arguments.
The source continued: “Jeremy and Steph have incredible sexual chemistry, but there is no trust in their relationship.
“While they both hoped that they could sort out their issues for the sake of their son, it seems that it’s an impossible task.
“Stephanie is jealous and insecure about Jeremy, she always has been.
“But Jeremy is just as a bad, and is constantly bringing up things from the past.”
And both Stephanie and the 27-year-old reality star are reportedly “less than happy” with how their relationship has been going.
The insider added: “To say they’re less than happy with how things are at the moment is an understatement.”
Meanwhile, the Liverpool-born star and Jeremy have both unfollowed one another on Twitter just two weeks after they followed each other.

Jeremy McConnell's aunt has died

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy McConnell’s aunt has died days after his father’s funeral.
The 27-year-old reality television star laid his late parent to rest on March 7 in Dublin, Ireland, and it has been reported the model has since lost another relative, and the second blow of tragic news has come as a “massive shock” to him.
Speaking to The Sun Online about the tragedy and how the Irish hunk is coping, a source said: “Jeremy lost his auntie on Friday – she was an old lady but it’s still come as a massive shock.
“He’s barely had time to grieve the loss of his dad before having to come to terms with another death in his family.”
However, the father -of-one – who has eight-week-old son Caben-Albi with his on/off girlfriend Stephanie Davis – is trying to stay “strong” despite the “horrific circumstances”.
The source continued: “He is doing everything he can to remain strong but it’s not easy given the horrific circumstances.”
This isn’t the first time the ‘Beauty School Cop Outs’ lothario has been forced to say goodbye to his loved ones as he was left devastated as a teenager when his mother, brother and sister all passed away within 15 months of each other.
He said last year: “When I was 15 I was at my cousin’s and my mum fell asleep.
“I got back about two hours later and she was gone – she had a brain haemorrhage.
“Shortly after that my brother broke his neck in a motorbike accident.
“After that, my sister had a heart attack – she suffered with epilepsy. All in the space of 15 months. Of course I miss them, I loved them dearly, but I think that’s what levelled me out a bit – I express myself the way I want to. I just grew up really fast.”

Richard Curtis was adamant there wouldn't be a Love Actually sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Curtis was “always sure” he would never do a ‘Love Actually’ sequel.
The 60-year-old screenwriter directed the comedy drama starring Colin Firth, Liam Neeson and Emma Thompson in 2003, and although he has admitted he didn’t ever plan to produce a follow-up, it played on his mind that a spin-off would be “fun”.
He told the Radio Times: “I’ve always been sure I wouldn’t do a sequel – but I had sometimes thought it would have been fun to see what some of the characters were up to. Fifteen years later you can be pretty sure that Bill Nighy’s Billy Mack would still be releasing dodgy records.”
However, Richard soon changed his mind in the name of charity and has created a 10-minute short movie ‘Red Nose Day Actually’, which is being filmed for Comic Relief.
He said: “I thought about the night of Comic Relief. Over the years I’ve done specials of ‘Mr Bean’ and ‘Blackadder’ and ‘The Vicar of Dibley’ and I suddenly thought I could do a little special of ‘Love Actually’ set on Red Nose Day. And it seemed like a good moment to make it, too – every year Red Nose Day strikes me as a demonstration of the basic generosity of the British public.”
And the creator has revealed he was desperate to develop the characters plot line and intended for certain actors to have children in the mini-movie, which will air on BBC One as part of their Red Nose Day coverage on March 24.
He explained: “And I did want one or two of the couples to have a kid of two – and see what happened to Liam Neeson’s son once he was all grown up.”

Frank Oz sparks speculation Yoda is in The Last Jedi

OHMYGOSSIP — Frank Oz has sparked speculation Yoda is to appear in ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi’.
The 72-year-old puppeteer was responsible for bringing the diminutive green alien to life in original trilogy films ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and ‘Return of the Jedi’.
Although the Jedi Master died in ‘Star Wars: Episode VI’ after being visited for a final time by Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) he does appear as a Force Ghost to the young Jedi along with Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) and Luke’s father Anakin Skywalker, who came back to the Light Side of The Force from his Dark Side alter ego Darth Vader after saving his son from being killed by Emperor Palpatine.
Oz was quizzed at the South By Southwest (SXSW) Festival on whether he would be voicing the character again for Rian Johnson’s sequel or any other Disney ‘Star Wars’ film and his cryptic answer has sent fans into meltdown that Yoda is coming back either as Force Ghost again to speak with Luke and Rey (Daisy Ridley) or in a flashback scene.
‘The Muppets’ puppeteer Oz – who is married to Victoria Labalme – said: “I feel like I’m a prisoner at war here, and I can only give you my name, rank and serial number. To be true to the people who asked me, and they are kind of my family, I have to say I’ve been asked not to talk about it. I love Yoda. I would be happy to talk to you about it at the time they let me.”
Oz’s Yoda voice did feature in ‘The Force Awakens’ when Maz Kanata presents Rey with Luke’s old lost lightsaber sparking a powerful series of flashback memories which also featured the voices of Ewan McGregor and Guinness who played Obi-Wan Kenobi in George Lucas’ prequels and the original trilogy respectively.
Explaining the significance of the voices, ‘The Force Awakens’ director J.J. Abrams said: “The idea of the voices was, we wanted the audience to feel – but not necessarily be presented right in your face – this idea that familiar, Force-strong voices were connecting with her. At least as well as they could.”
‘The Last Jedi’ will be released worldwide on December 15, 2017, and the returning cast includes John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma), Dohmnall Gleeson (General Hux), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Andy Serkis (Supreme Leader Snoke) and the late Carrie Fisher as General Leia.
While Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran are all newcomers to the sci-fi franchise.

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Bird is set to make his directorial debut on feature film ‘Days of the Bagnold Summer’.
The 32-year-old actor-and-comedian – best known for playing geeky teenager Will McKenzie in Channel 4 TV comedy series ‘The Inbetweeners’ and the subsequent two films – is attached to direct an upcoming adaptation of Joff Winterhart’s graphic novel of the same name.
The tome, which was shortlisted for the 2012 Costa Award for Best Novel, tells the story of an idle summer in the lives of a shy 15-year-old heavy metal fan Daniel and his 52-year-old librarian mother Sue who must spend the summer holiday together after Daniel’s planned trip to spend the summer with his father and his father’s pregnant new wife in Florida is cancelled.
