Rowan Atkinson set for Mr Bean return

OHMYGOSSIP — Rowan Atkinson is planning another ‘Mr Bean’ movie.
The 62-year-old comic thinks his friend and series co-creator, ‘Love Actually’ writer Richard Curtis, has come up with a “very funny” idea featuring his popular character – who first featured on TV 27 years ago – in his senior years.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, he said: “It would be very funny to see where we can go with him as an old man and what kind of comedy we get out of it.
“Playing an old person can be very funny.”
‘Mr Bean’ aired for 13 one-off , largely silent, TV episodes between 1990 until 1995, with a clip compilation airing at the end of 1995. A previously unseen episode was broadcast in 2006, while the successful series also spawned two movie adaptations, ‘Bean: The Ultimate Disaster Movie’ in 1997 and 2007’s ‘Mr. Bean’s Holiday’. An animated show is still broadcast today and Rowan has reprised the character at the 2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony, and two years later for a Snickers commercial.
Although the ‘Blackadder’ actor has played more serious roles since the creation of Mr Bean, he has said he will never retire from the character.
He previously insisted: “No I don’t really have plans like that. You go with the parts that are offered that inspire you.
“I would never finally wave goodbye to any character – I feel as though I could still play Bean. It’s just the emphasis tends to shift.”
Another one of Atkinson’s most famous characters, Edmund Blackadder, could also be returning after co-star Sir Tony Robinson, who played hapless sidekick Baldrick, revealed the cast have been in talks.
He said recently: “I do think a new series of ‘Blackadder’ is on the cards. I have spoken to virtually all the cast about this now.
“Expectations for a new series will be high because people not only remember the original; they remember who they were when it was on. It’s a big danger.”

Katie Wright quits TOWIE

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Wright has quit ‘The Only Way is Essex’.
The 25-year-old reality TV star has decided to take a “long break” from the ITVBe show in order to focus on her new business ventures and forthcoming bikini range.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, she said: “I am taking a long break from the show to focus on my new business ventures and an exciting bikini range.”
Katie’s decision to turn her back on the programme following just two years in front of the cameras comes just weeks after it emerged that she had struck up a relationship with former professional footballer Rio Ferdinand.
The blonde beauty had agreed to keep her romance with the 38-year-old hunk under wraps, but the cat was let out of the bag when her co-star James ‘Lockie’ Lock revealed that the news of the couple came as a huge “shock” to the entire ITVBe cast.
The loose-lipped hunk said at the time: “Kate and Rio were a bit of a shock to the system for everyone. It came out of nowhere.”
Although the 30-year-old heartthrob wishes the pair all the best, he has admitted his loyalties will always lie with Kate’s ex-boyfriend Dan Edgar, whom she split from last year on the show, because he’s crushed by her dating revelation.
He explained: “My loyalties are with Dan. I’m on side with him. He has a lot of love for Kate and would have liked the idea of getting her back but then Kate met Rio in Dubai so he’s been left in the lurch.”
It’s not known when the beauty met the former sportsman – who has three kids; Lorenz, 10, Tate, eight, and Tia, six, with his late wife Rebecca Ellison – but she was last in Dubai at the beginning of January when she jetted off on a girls’ holiday with her close friend Danielle Armstrong to get away from men.

Paul Hollywood lands new baking show on Channel 4

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Hollywood has landed a new baking show on Channel 4 with the former producers of ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
The 51-year-old baker – who was the only judge to move over to the channel from the BBC for the new series of ‘GBBO’ – has teamed up with Love Productions for a brand new programme, which will show the loveable Liverpudlian’s personal journey to becoming a TV sensation.
Richard McKerrow, the executive producer at Love Productions – who sold the rights to ‘GBBO’ to Channel 4 – said: “Paul’s credentials as one of Britain’s most knowledgeable bakers are beyond doubt.
“How he came to become such a great baker with a passion for everything to do with baking is a fascinating story that hasn’t been told.”
Paul will reportedly take a trip down memory lane as he meets with the chefs that taught him all he knows and inspired his career back in Liverpool to arriving at the ‘GBBO’ tent in 2010.
According to the Mirror Online, the episodes of the forthcoming series are five hours apiece.
Meanwhile, Paul recently said he thinks ‘GBBO’ will “take time” to become a success on Channel 4.
He hasn’t been optimistic about how well it will do in ratings when it moves over from the BBC later this year.
He spilled: “It will take time to build. ‘Bake Off’ from the offset didn’t instantly go ‘click’ on the BBC and it will be the same this time.”
And the silver fox, who is reportedly set to rake in £400,000 a series, has admitted the show’s success is extremely important to him as despite being worth millions he still worries about having no money because there was a time when he was scraping the barrel to get by.
He said previously: “I can remember nine years ago hunting down the side of a sofa for money to go to a meeting in London.
“I know what it’s like to have little money. That’s not going to change.”
The new series will see Mary Berry replaced by Prue Leith and comic Noel Fielding and presenter Sandi Toksvig co-host the show instead of Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins.

Danniella Westbrook feels 'really strong' after time in rehab

OHMYGOSSIP — Danniella Westbrook feels “really strong” following a spell in rehab.
The 43-year-old actress checked into the Villa Paradiso facility in Mijas, Spain, almost a month ago and Danniella – who returned to taking cocaine after suffering a miscarriage in 2016 – has revealed she is currently feeling happy and healthy.
She said: “I’m having a great time.
“I’ve been here three and a half weeks – my head is straight, I’m not on any medication, I’m not taking any drugs and I’ve worked loads on myself.
“And loads on my past issues. All the stuff that I felt I got left with at the end of last year I’m dealing with and I feel strong, I feel really strong.”
However, the mother-of-two admitted she is looking forward to being reunited with her children once her spell in rehab ends.
In a video posted by The Sun Online, the former ‘EastEnders’ star said: “I’m happy to be alone and on my own.
“I’m happy to be doing this but looking forward to seeing my kids in a few weeks and looking forward to getting back to work and all the exciting things I’ve got coming up.
“I’m in a wonderful place and I’m truly blessed again but thank you one and all for everything.”
Danniella has endured a particularly troubling few months, after she split from her boyfriend George Arnold and miscarried their baby.
But her former ‘EastEnders’ co-star Patsy Palmer has voiced her support for the actress.
She recently said: “Danniella Westbrook is so sweet. We all went through our own struggles. It was intense.”
As part of the rehab process, Danniella has been having one-on-one meetings with therapists, who have been talking to the star about her long-standing battle with addiction.

Gemma Arterton: I've not been posh enough for some roles

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Arterton has been overlooked for some roles because she hasn’t been “posh enough”.
The 31-year-old actress has established herself as one of the most sought-after stage and screen stars in the world, yet Gemma believes her working-class background has been held against her in some instances.
She said: “I can only speak from my personal experience. There have definitely been times when I have not got jobs because it was thought I was not posh enough. I know that.”
But Gemma also acknowledged the idea can be overplayed at times, pointing out that some actors from working-class backgrounds simply wish to steer clear of playing “posh” characters.
She told the Irish Times newspaper: “I think maybe it is a bit of a myth. Don’t forget that actors choose. Not all actors want to play posh.”
As well as starring in big-budget movies, like the James Bond film ‘Quantum of Solace’ in 2008, Gemma has also been hailed for her theatre work, which has included her widely acclaimed performance in the musical version of ‘Made in Dagenham’.
The actress admits that despite the eye-watering wages on offer in Hollywood, the theatre remains her passion.
She reflected: “The theatre has always been my first love. I just love it. I love to be able to go out and just do a play.”
Gemma confessed to relishing the “challenge” of performing in front of a live audience.
She said: “I like to be able to tell a whole story and have it be a little different every night. I love that challenge. I love to take on something really difficult and work at it. That’s why I became an actor.”

Joss Whedon is 'obsessed' with Batgirl

OHMYGOSSIP — Joss Whedon had to take on the ‘Batgirl’ movie because he is “obsessed” with the titular character.
The 52-year-old filmmaker is taking on directorial duties for the DC Extended Universe movie which is currently in early development stages, and says he couldn’t turn his attention away from how “intense” the superhero’s life is in the comic book.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “She came up, and I started getting obsessed with how a young woman could get hardcore enough to need to put on the cowl. Like, what’s her damage?
“She didn’t have her parents killed in an alley. Who is this person, who decides — rather than being forced to by their childhood trauma — decides to pick up this life?
“How intense and driven that person is … I just couldn’t stop thinking about it.”
Whedon previously said he wants to develop the character before he starts thinking of people he could cast in the role.
He said: “I don’t have my eye on anybody. I feel like I’m creating this character, I’m gonna dialogue with her and then we’ll see who joins that later on.”
And the ‘Avengers’ director admitted he “doubts” he will cast a big name in the role, as he wants audiences to focus on the character, rather than the name attached to her role.
He explained: “I doubt it will be a name. This is somewhere where you go and find Batgirl and then you cast her. I’m not against movie stars, they’re great, but you need somebody who’s going to be just right. And a situation like this, the name carries a lot of weight so its not as critical.”
Meanwhile, fellow director Patty Jenkins – who directed the upcoming DC Comics movie ‘Wonder Woman’ – recently said she was “excited” to see what Joss would bring to the female superhero movie as she enjoys his “fun approach” to making movies.
She said: “If it is done, then I’m excited about it.
“I think it’s super exciting. The tone of Joss’ work is great for female superheroes. He takes such a fun approach and I think he’ll have fun in the DC universe, which will be excited to have him.”
Previously, it was claimed the ‘Batgirl’ project only came into fruition in February, following a meeting between Whedon and those overseeing the standalone picture; Jon Berg, Geoff Johns and Toby Emmerich, President and Chief Content officer of Warner Bros. Pictures Group.
Batgirl has been the alter ego of several different characters in the DC Comics but the definitive version is Barbara Gordon who first appeared in comic book pages back in 1967. She is the daughter of Gotham City police commissioner James Gordon and ally of Batman.

Zara Holland won't do reality TV again

OHMYGOSSIP — Zara Holland will never do reality TV again.
The ‘Love Island’ star has no interest in appearing on screen – unless it’ll boost her career in a positive way – after she had her Miss Great Britain title swiped away from her last year after she had sex while taking part in the dating programme.
She told Star magazine when asked if she will ever do any more reality TV: “No, that’s behind me now. I’m focusing on fashion and my shops. No more reality TV for me!”
Although she doesn’t want to do anymore reality TV, the 21-year-old model’s hanky panky certainly hasn’t tarnished her small screen career as she’s signed on to star in two new TV shows.
She said at the time: “I’m a really busy girl at the moment and I feel really lucky for the opportunities that I’ve got, had and that are coming up … I can’t say what but I have signed for two shows.”
The blonde beauty remained tight-lipped on what programmes she’s planning to join later this year but has hinted that they could involve a drama as she’s determined to throw herself back into acting and has already had castings.
She explained: “I’ve got my clothing range, I’m getting back into acting, I’ve had a couple of castings already …”
Zara came under fire in June last year when scenes aired of her getting hot and heavy with co-star Alex Bowen in the villa.
Miss Great Britain made the decision to take away her title and give it to runner-up Deone Robertson because they didn’t think she was representing the brand appropriately.

Timothy Spall will never do full frontal nudity

OHMYGOSSIP — Timothy Spall says he won’t get his penis out for a film.
The ‘Mr Turner’ actor is currently starring in a new, politically inspired movie but claims he will never flash his manhood on screen after his son Rafe revealed all in ‘I Give It A Year’.
Speaking to Shortlist magazine, he said: “I was stoked that he wasn’t feeling uncomfortable about it himself.
“He did it beautifully, did it well. It’s always a vulnerable thing to have to do.
“I’ve never had to get it out – you wouldn’t want to see it twice, not at my age.”
The 60-year-old actor’s new film ‘The Journey’ follows a fictional car trip with Sinn Fein and politician Martin McGuinness and Tim plays the Democratic Union Party leader in Northern Ireland, Ian Paisley.
While filming, he said he was very conscious about how the family would react to the “outrageousness of discord”.
He said: “The one person I was very mindful of was Mrs Paisley. I was worried that the whole thing was going to upset people’s sensibilities – I’m sure it will, it’s Northern Ireland – but I wanted to find a common humanity within him and make it real rather than reinforce any opinions.
“I mean it’s the outrageousness of discord that makes it funny. There are no gags in it. Well, very few and they aren’t that funny.
“It’s the outrageousness of their implacability.”
Tim played Barry in the British comedy series ‘Auf Wiedersehen, Pet’ from the first season through to the end and wishes Brexit – a term for the United Kingdom’s planned withdrawal from the European Union – didn’t happen simply because of “xenophobia”.
He said: “I think it’s a huge stew of many different things and some sophisticated, liberal-minded people agree with it as well.
“I wouldn’t want to think Brexit is a mere result of xenophobia.”

James Norton wants Daniel Craig to continue as Bond

OHMYGOSSIP — James Norton wants Daniel Craig to do at least another “three” ‘James Bond’ films.
The ‘Happy Valley’ actor is one of the many who are hotly-tipped to become the next suit-wearing spy but he has admitted, although he’s thrilled that his name has been put forward, he’s devastated that the hunk – who has played the titular role in four movies since 2006 – is toying with the idea of walking away from the franchise.
Speaking ‘This Morning’ on Thursday (20.04.2017), Norton said: “It’s difficult, it’s lovely to be part of that whole conversation because it’s big and a lot of people pay a lot of attention to it but I’m a great fan of Daniel Craig and selfishly hope he makes two or three more films.”
However, the 31-year-old star will have to fight off some stiff competition from the likes of Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Aidan Turner, Tom Hardy and Damian Lewis who are also all in the running to take over the as the Secret Service agent 007.
However, Hiddleston was seemingly axed by the franchise producer Barbara Broccoli, who discounted the 36-year-old heartthrob because she thought he was too smug for the role.
A source explained: “Barbara Broccoli doesn’t like Tom Hiddleston, he’s a bit too smug and not tough enough to play James Bond.”
The actor’s brief relationship with singer Taylor Swift in 2016 undermined his chances of getting the role, while Broccoli is also said to have been unimpressed by his speech at the Golden Globes, in which he spoke about his trip to South Sudan.
Meanwhile, Broccoli has reportedly convinced Craig to star in another Bond movie, after the duo successfully worked together on an off-Broadway production of William Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’, which won him the appreciation he has been seeking.
Craig has previously suggested he would walk away from the money-spinning franchise after starring in ‘Spectre’ in 2015 – but it appears he may have since changed his mind.
A source told the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six column: “Daniel was very pleased with how ‘Othello’ went and the great reviews. Now Daniel’s talks with Barbara are going in the right direction.
“They have a script – screenwriting duo Neal Purvis and Robert Wade [who’ve penned several Bond movies] are writing and they’ll go into production as soon as Daniel is ready to commit.”

Patsy Palmer doesn't want EastEnders return

OHMYGOSSIP — Patsy Palmer “doesn’t want” to return to ‘EastEnders’.
The 44-year-old actress was best known for portraying motor mouth Bianca Jackson, who got her own catchphrase “Riiiiicky”, in the long-running soap on and off for 20 years but has admitted, although her alter ego is regularly name dropped in the scripts, she has no intention of stepping back into Albert Square any time soon.
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’ on Thursday (20.04.17), she said: “I don’t know if my character will return. To be honest I never say never to anything, it’s a big mistake to say that but to be honest I’m nearly 45 and I don’t really want to. There is so much you don’t do when you’re in Elstree Studios for 20 years and you can never go in for just one episode. Last time I went back I was there for seven years. You know how quick time goes and you have a lot of friends there. It’s hard to step out of it.”
Although she thoroughly enjoyed her time on the show for the most part, the flame-haired beauty hated that spoilers were let out of the bag before episodes aired.
She explained: “It was two episodes a week but now everybody wants to know what’s going on. I used to say ‘you’re supposed to have a cliff hanger why do you keep telling everyone what’s going to happen?'”
Since leaving the show in 2014, Patsy has moved to Malibu with her husband and three children and, although she doesn’t miss acting, she has revealed there could be some TV work on the horizon – although it won’t be a drama.
She said: “I’m working with a producer, a big executive TV producer. It’s not a drama. I don’t actually miss acting one bit. I just don’t.”

James Norton wants to do Happy Valley again

OHMYGOSSIP — James Norton wouldn’t turn down the chance to do another series of ‘Happy Valley’.
The 31-year-old actor has admitted he’d jump at the chance to reprise his role as rapist Tommy Lee Royce in the popular crime drama if screen writer Sally Wainwright approaches him about taking part in the third instalment.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’ on Thursday (20.04.17), he said: “Sally has said so, so it’s all in her hands but if they would like me back then it would be hard to say no.”
However, not everyone is as willing to do another batch of episodes as Sarah Lancashire threw things into chaos last year when she said she had no intention of reprising her role as lead Catherine Cawood in the show because it was “over.”
She said at the time: “It’s the end of the story for ‘Happy Valley’. I wouldn’t want it to go to a third series, I really wouldn’t – then it becomes something else.
“We set out to tell a story and we have told it.
“The temptation is you see something that is great and you think, ‘This can run and run and run’, but then it becomes a homogenised, diluted thing.”
Thankfully, the 52-year-old actress had a change of heart shortly after she was crowned Best Actress – for her role in the drama – at the TV Choice Awards in London last September and said she would consider doing one more series.
She said at the time: “I thought we’d already had the end but Sally [Wainwright, writer] feels there is a very final ending needed for the show and for Catherine. There is going to be a very big full-stop to the piece.”
Although Sally is yet to sit down and take pen to paper, it’s believed the next series will see Sergeant Catherine – who is still grieving for her dead daughter – contemplate leaving the corrupt police force as she continues to protect her fragile grandson Ryan (Rhys Conna) from his rapist father (James) – who is serving time in prison for raping the officer’s daughter – and his conniving girlfriend.
Sally said previously: “It [the third series] will happen but it will be a little while. I have got some good ideas.”

Chris Packham is cleared of assault

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Packham has been cleared of assault.
The 55-year-old television presenter has reportedly had the claims made against him dropped, which accused him of retaliating with force when two men began to shove him and his film crew while they were making an independent documentary ‘Malta: Massacre on Migration’ on illegal birds on the Maltese island of Gozo on Tuesday (17.04.17), according to BBC News.
The ‘Springwatch’ star is believed to have appeared in court in Malta on Thursday (19.04.17), where he pleaded his innocence, denied all of allegations and insisted he was in fact the victim.
The star was thought to be filming on the roadside when the males approached him and his production team and allegedly began to “shove” them.
In a statement, his agent explained: “Whilst filming an interview on the public roadside, a vehicle appeared and two men jumped out shouting at Chris and his team, shoving them aggressively.
“Whilst Chris and the team stood back, the police joined them. Instead of intervening on behalf of the innocent parties, the police immediately took the side of the aggressors and manhandled Chris and other members of the team off the site.”
Chris previously took to social media to share a short video in which he gave his version of events, revealing he had been charged with “using force against any person, with an intent to insult, annoy or hurt them”.
He added: “I am completely innocent of these charges. Not only was I the victim of being pushed and jostled around I was also then pushed all the way up the street by a policeman.”

Leslie Uggams to reprise role in Deadpool 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Leslie Uggams is set to reprise her role in ‘Deadpool 2’.
The 73-year-old actress has confirmed she will be donning the black glasses once again as she has said her character Blind Al will “definitely” be making an appearance in the upcoming sequel to the popular Marvel Comics movie.
When asked by BlackFilm.com if she has a role in the second instalment, Leslie simply replied: “Definitely.”
Blind Al became a fan favourite after the 2016 movie, after Leslie’s strong chemistry with Ryan Reynolds – who stars as the titular anti-hero – lent itself to some humorous scenes between the pair.
Meanwhile, Josh Brolin was recently cast as Cable in the hotly anticipated sequel, after he was reportedly handed a four-film deal by Marvel studio bosses.
Josh’s on-screen character was co-created by ‘Deadpool’ co-creator Rob Liefeld and writer Louise Simonson, and has previously been described as being the antithesis of the movie’s central character.
Also recently cast for ‘Deadpool 2’ was ‘Atlanta’ star Zazie Beetz, who will play the role of Domino, a mutant who has developed telekinetic powers.
Ryan, 40, broke the news of Zazie’s casting when he took to Twitter last month and shared a picture of domino pieces lined up beside one another to spell out the newcomer’s name on his Twitter account, which he captioned: “Domino effect (sic).”
The star also tweeted a picture of Zazie, whose face has been edited onto a comic book cover, riding on top of Deadpool, which he wrote: “Zazie Beetz Effect. (sic).”
The upcoming production is set to be directed by David Leitch, who replaced Tim Miller in last year’s movie.
‘Deadpool 2’ is scheduled for release in 2018.

Joss Whedon won't cast 'movie star' to play Batgirl

OHMYGOSSIP — Joss Whedon doesn’t want to cast a “movie star” to play Batgirl.

Countdown to remain on screen until 2018

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Countdown’ will remain on screens until at least the end of next year.
The popular game show, which sees contestants tackle tough word and number puzzles under a tight time schedule, doesn’t look like it’ll be leaving the small screen any time soon as Channel 4 boss Jay Hunt has called for more episodes per year.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, host Nick Hewer said: “The show is doing great. I don’t know about the opposition from other shows as scheduling is a mystery to me. All I know is that C4 want 260 shows a year which is more than last year so obviously they are happy. The show works like clockwork and they want more. The show is in the Guinness Book of Records for the longest running show.”
‘Countdown’, which was originally hosted by Richard Whiteley with Carol Vorderman as his sidekick, first hit television screens when the network began in November 1982.
Since then, it’s screened more than 6,500 episodes and seen Richard replaced by Nick and his new sidekick Rachel Riley, who has proven a huge hit with male fans.
Asked if he’d ever take part in the competition, Nick said: “I would be terrible on the show. I used to be quite good on the letters but I am hopeless now. I am better on the numbers.”
It looks like Channel 4’s decision to pump more money in ‘Countdown’ comes just months after it was reported that the money game show ‘Deal or No Deal’ had been axed.
A source said previously: ‘Deal Or No Deal’ doesn’t get the ratings it used to and it is not a cheap daytime show to make. Noel [Edmondson, the presenter] and ‘Deal’ had a great run but bosses have just decided it is the right time to end the series.”
The final episode will air in the autumn and bosses have arranged for a special tour to take place in order to give the long-running show the send-off it truly deserves.
The decision to axe the programme won’t come as too much of a surprise to Noel – who has fronted the show since the first episode – as he admitted last year he didn’t know whether bosses were planning to recommission it.
‘Million Pound Drop’, which was presented by Davina McCall, was also given the chop.

BBC letter says there are 'no plans to have a female Doctor Who'

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Doctor Who’ bosses will not cast a woman as the titular Time Lord, according to BBC complaints officer Joanne Coyne.
Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi is to leave the show at the end of 2017 along with showrunner Steven Moffat who is handing over the reins to ‘Broadchurch’ creator Chris Chibnall, whose first job will be to choose someone to be the next Doctor.
Speculation has been rife that the character could be portrayed by an actress for the first time but the BBC has now revealed that there are “currently no plans” for this to happen.
According to a report in The Sun newspaper, a committed ‘Doctor Who’ fan filed an official complaint to the organisation stating that a switch in gender for the role would confuse his kids but he received a response giving him assurances it would be another man in the TARDIS and that his concerns would be passed onto senior managers and programme makers “including the Doctor Who team”.
Coyne wrote: “We appreciate that you’re a big ‘Doctor Who’ fan and you have concerns that the programme would change should there be a female doctor. Be assured there are currently no plans to have a female Doctor Who.”
The female names in the frame before this news had been Tilda Swinton, Game of Thrones’ Natalie Dormer and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Among the guys being touted for the top job are ‘Death in Paradise’ star Kris Marshall, Homeland’s David Harewood and ‘Plebs’ actor Tom Rosenthal – the son of veteran sports presenter Jim Rosenthal.
In response to Coyne’s answer to the fan, a BBC spokeswoman has said: “No casting decisions have yet been made on Series 11.”
‘Doctor Who’ – also starring Pearl Mackie as companion Bill Potts and Matt Lucas as Nardole – continues on BBC One on Saturday (22.04.17) at 19.20 with ‘Smile’.
