Ryan Reynolds: I’ve been prescribed a stuntman

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Reynolds’ doctor prescribed him a “stuntman” when he broke his neck.
The 40-year-old actor no longer does his own stunts after having some “bad injuries” and realised it was time to give them up for good after damaging his vertebrae while filming 2013’s ‘Safe House’.
He said: “I’ve had some bad injuries doing stunts. I broke a couple of vertebrae in my neck. It was a bad situation.
“I remember the doctor sitting in the office – it was about the seventh time I had been there that year – and he writes on a prescription pad, rips off the note and it reads ‘Stuntman’. Point taken.
“So now I use four different guys that come with me. Thankfully nothing scary happened on this one [‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’].”
Despite his fame, Ryan doesn’t have a bodyguard and would feel “ashamed” if he did feel the need to employ protection because he is a “big guy”.
When he and his ‘Hitman’s Bodyguard’ co-star Samuel L. Jackson were asked if they employ their own protection, Ryan told Empire magazine: “Look we’re two pretty big guys. I would feel ashamed if I had a bodyguard.
“The only time I ever have security is when I go to Comic-Con because you need guys to help get you 100 feet.”
But his co-star admitted there are certain places where he needs to have someone to protect him.
He said: “Aggression changes from place to place.
“In France people camp outside your hotel and chant your name. In Germany, you wish you had a bodyguard because Germans are aggressive whenever they want their s**t signed. But most times, I’m pretty OK.
“The first time I went to Johannesburg I was riding around in a bullet-proof car and all that kind of s**t.
“Five guys met me at the airport. One guy was like, ‘Mike will always be on tour right because he draws from his right. I am left-handed. I will always be to your left. If we try and take you down, let us take you down. Do. Not. Resist.’
“I was like, ‘What the f**k? I’m here to do press, man.'”

Marisa Tomei wants to keep acting in Spider-Man movies

OHMYGOSSIP — Marisa Tomei will appear in “as many” ‘Spider-Man’ movies as Marvel are willing to cast her in.
The 52-year-old actress plays Aunt May in the recently released Marvel Comics movie ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ – which sees Tom Holland take on the role of the web slinging superhero – and has said she’s happy to keep appearing in further instalments of the franchise for as long as the studio are willing to cast her.
When asked how many ‘Spider-Man’ movies she expects to do, she said: “As many as they [Marvel] want. There will be a lot of surprises because the end of the film is a new twist. That leaves a creative door wide open. It leads to some really exciting possibilities.”
Marisa didn’t watch any previous incarnations of her character – such as Rosemary Harris in ‘Spider-Man’ and Sally Field in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ – before taking on the role herself, but believes it was “more useful” to remain in the dark about their performances.
Asked if she’d seen the previous Spider-Man movies, Marisa said: “I kept meaning to, but I guess I ultimately felt like it was more useful to not. I didn’t want to shut myself down in reverence.”
Although ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ was noticeably missing the character of Uncle Ben – as the movie is set after he has been killed so as to avoid re-telling Peter Parker’s origin story which was explained in previous reboots of the franchise – Marisa insists his “backstory” was discussed during production.
Speaking to Variety magazine, she said: “We questioned how much of the parenting did Ben do and how much did May do. It kind of seemed maybe Ben was someone she met in school. Maybe he was her professor in grad school. And she had a bit of a sisterly relationship with Peter, and took the reigns when she had to, when Ben was killed. That was kind of our backstory.”

Joss Whedon to start Batgirl in 2018

OHMYGOSSIP — Joss Whedon will start work on ‘Batgirl’ “next year”.
The 53-year-old director is helming the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) movie, which centres around the female crime fighting superhero and her alter ego – who has had many different names including Betty Kane and Barbara Gordon – and according to DC chief Geoff Johns, the filmmaker is due to start working on the project as soon as 2018.
Speaking to IGN.com about the future of both ‘Batman’ and ‘Batgirl’, Geoff said: “But for Batman what I will say is that Batman is more than just Batman and, you know, it’s been way too long since we’ve seen, you know, an expansion of that universe, and Batgirl – we are doing Batgirl with Joss Whedon, it’s going to be super exciting. He’s going to start that next year, and that’s just the start.”
Previously, Joss admitted he was “obsessed” with the character of Batgirl because he can’t turn his attention away from how “intense” the superhero’s life is in the comic book.
He said : “She came up, and I started getting obsessed with how a young woman could get hardcore enough to need to put on the cowl. Like, what’s her damage?
“She didn’t have her parents killed in an alley. Who is this person, who decides – rather than being forced to by their childhood trauma – decides to pick up this life?
“How intense and driven that person is … I just couldn’t stop thinking about it.”
Meanwhile, Joss said he wants to develop the character before he starts thinking of people he could cast in the role.
He said: “I don’t have my eye on anybody. I feel like I’m creating this character, I’m gonna dialogue with her and then we’ll see who joins that later on.”
And the ‘Avengers’ director admitted he “doubts” he will cast a big name in the role, as he wants audiences to focus on the character, rather than the name attached to her role.
He explained: “I doubt it will be a name. This is somewhere where you go and find Batgirl and then you cast her. I’m not against movie stars, they’re great, but you need somebody who’s going to be just right. And a situation like this, the name carries a lot of weight so its not as critical.”

Ferne McCann to front reality show?

OHMYGOSSIP — Ferne McCann is set to get her own show about becoming a first-time mum.
The former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star is just months away from giving birth to her little bundle of joy, and sources say she’s weighing up several offers from TV bosses who want to get her on board for her reality TV comeback.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Ferne is six months gone and is really enjoying her pregnancy. She’s in a good place and has made a fresh start for herself by moving into a new flat and getting her life back on track.
“Several TV companies have been in touch and are keen to document her journey as a new mum. Ferne will return to work once the baby is born and is definitely considering her options.”
The 26-year-old ‘This Morning’ presenter is rapidly approaching her due date, and has been thoroughly enjoying watching her belly grow the further along she gets, and doesn’t mind the “changes” her body is going through.
A source said: “Ferne is embracing the changes in her body – she’s joking that this is the only time she doesn’t care about putting on weight.”
And, although Ferne has had a tough couple of months as she was forced to announce her pregnancy just days after her boyfriend Arthur Collins was arrested on suspicion of an acid attack, the brunette beauty can’t wait to meet her little bundle of joy in November.
An insider explained: “I think she’s more excited about meeting her baby than anything, but she does have moments when she worries and is anxious about being a single mother and facing it alone. She isn’t thinking about dating at the moment, even though she’s had some messages from lads. She’s just focusing on her pregnancy.”

Love Island to tour UK in spin-off show

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ bosses want to take the stars of the show on a tour of the UK to meet fans in a special spin-off show.
The ITV2 reality show – which puts a group of single men and women in a villa together in the hopes of finding romance – is set to tour the country in October in a new show entitled ‘Love Island: Unleashed’, in which fans will be given the chance to get up close and personal with the stars, ask them questions and play games from the show.
Iain Stirling, who narrates the main show, is expected to front the spin-off, and sources have said it will be like “‘Celebrity Juice’ meets Dream Boys meets a massive hen night.”
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “ITV are looking at a number of opportunities for a live event for this autumn. They want to give viewers, particularly fans who can’t make the club appearances, a chance to get up close and personal with the cast.”
It’s not the only spin-off planned for this year either, as another show looking at the couples and where they’re at is also in the works.
A source said previously: “Some relationships will be nothing more than a summer holiday romance but there’s some that are going to last a lot longer.
“Each of the couples have already been pushed to the limits in a very false environment and once they’re back home, they will have more time to themselves away from the camera. There are already discussions behind the scenes as to doing a follow-up series later this year where viewers can see if islanders have stayed together at home – and whether they’re following in the footsteps of last year’s couples like Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen.
“It’s a no brainer for Love Island bosses to do a follow-up as the show has been a runaway success and everyone’s desperate to see more of their favourite couples.”

Dancing on Ice line-up revealed

OHMYGOSSIP — The full ‘Dancing on Ice’ line-up has been revealed, including Katie Price, Paul Burrell, and Saira Khan.
Speculation about the line-up of the ice skating competition – which is set to return to ITV in 2018 after taking a three-year break – has been circulating for some time, but fans of the show need not fret any longer as the names of all those competing in the comeback series have now been revealed by The Sun Online.
Former glamour model Katie Price, former butler to the late Princess Diana Paul Burrell, and ‘Loose Women’ presenter Saira Khan, will be joined by the likes of ‘Great British Bake Off’ winner Candice Brown, psychic Sally Morgan, and ‘Coronation Street’ star Anthony Cotton.
Also in the line-up is female cricketer Ebony Rainford-Brent, Olympic sport shooter Amber Hill, former ‘Waterloo Road’ and current ‘Coronation Street’ actress Katie McGlynn, and footballer’s wife Alex Gerrard.
The star-studded cast is completed by Scottish rugby star Max Evans, children’s TV presenter Toby Anstis, comedian Stephen Bailey, and ‘This Morning’ wine expert Olly Smith.
However, the line-up may come as a surprise to some as it was previously claimed ‘Coronation Street’ star Brooke Vincent – who is known for portraying garage manager Sophie Webster in the long-running soap – would be taking part after she impressed bosses with her audition earlier this year.
A source said: “Brooke has already wowed judges with her skating audition. Bosses feel she’ll be the perfect glam signing.”
As well as an impressive line up, organisers would like Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean to sit on the judging panel rather than reclaiming their coaching roles.
A source said recently: “Torvill and Dean loved their years spent teaching celebrities how to skate but they want to change things up for the new series. Now they are in talks to become judges, where they will finally get to have a proper say on what they think about the celebrities taking part.
“In the original format they were there to help them along the way, but this will mean they can use their gold medal winning expertise to decide who continues in the competition. If anyone is qualified to be a judge, it’s them, and it would be a great way to shake up the format and give it a new lease of life.”

Britain’s Got Talent pooch Pudsey has died

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ winning pooch Pudsey has died.
The 11-year-old adorable pooch won the talent competition in 2012 alongside his owner Ashleigh Butler when the pair captured the nation’s hearts with their talented dance routine, but on Friday (21.07.17) night, Ashleigh took to her Instagram account to announce the heart-breaking news that Pudsey had passed away.
Posting a collection of photos of the pair together, Ashleigh wrote: “I can’t honestly believe I am writing these words. My handsome man has gone, and I don’t know what to do without him.
“My heart is broken, and I don’t know how I’m going to get through this. It hurts so much, that my handsome, incredible Pudsey Bear will never be by my side, where he belongs, again.
“We only had 11 years together, but they were the best years ever. He was my one in a billion dog that will never be replaced.
“I don’t need to write all of his endless accomplishments on here to prove how incredible he was for me.
“Sleep tight my handsome man, I love you lots xxxx (sic)”
Ashleigh’s mother Penny added her own tribute to the late dog on her Facebook account, where she said Pudsey had been battling “acute leukaemia”.
She wrote: “We, as a family, had to make the hardest decision yesterday to let Pudsey go to sleep. We are absolutely devastated and in shock with how quick this has all happened, and our hearts are broken.
“We would have done anything to keep him with us, even for a little longer, but he didn’t have any more time as acute leukemia made us take the heart breaking decision to end his pain.
“We so wanted to bring him home to the place where he was born and lived his whole life, but he was too ill to make the journey home from Davies vets. All five of us were with him when we said goodbye, and he was looking into Ashleigh’s eyes as he went.
“This is going to take us forever to get over, as he meant everything to us. We just can’t believe we won’t see his big brown eyes again.
“Night night, Pud Pud. You gave us everything and wanted so little in return, just to be loved by Ashleigh and to spend your time doing the things you loved – agility, dancing and showing off.
“You were our special boy, and truly a dog of a lifetime. Sleep tight little man. Come and rest your head on our legs once in a while.”

Love Island to lose one couple

OHMYGOSSIP — Montana Brown and Alex Beattie, Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Hewitt and Gabby Allen and Marcel Somerville face being axed from the ‘Love Island’ villa.
As the end of the series edges nearer and the £50,000 prize money becomes even more desirable, it’s hardly surprising that the islanders are going to do all they can to get rid of their biggest threat – and tonight’s (21.07.17) episode proved just that as the gang were set the task of voting for a couple they want to leave the love shack.
Montana and Alex – who enjoyed a romantic dinner in the middle of the sea as part of their final date – received three votes from their fellow competitors, while Camilla and Jamie and Gabby and Marcel pulled in just one vote each.
But, although the brunette beauty and her hunk tallied up the most votes, the public will have all the power as they have the final say on who goes and who stays.
One couple will be evicted from the villa tonight as part of the shock twist – although the scenes won’t air on screen until Sunday (23.07.17) night’s show
And as the end slips into sight, the couples have started thinking about life on the outside as Alex told Montana during their date that he’s looking forward to introducing his partner to his mother when they go home and can see them being best friends.
Montana found that remark really sweet and asked him if he’d be willing to move down south, but said she didn’t want him living with Chris Hughes or Kem Cetinay.
Gabby can’t wait to go back home and see her family but is concerned that Marcel’s mother won’t like her because she doesn’t know how she’s come across on screen.
And Camilla has admitted she can’t wait to leave the villa and actually spend every minute of every day texting her man like a “normal relationship.”

Channing Tatum ‘begged’ for Kingsman role

OHMYGOSSIP — Channing Tatum “begged” for a role in ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’.
The 37-year-old actor was such a huge fan of the first installment, ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ – which was released in 2014 – that he pleaded with director Matthew Vaughn to let him have a part in the project.
Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con in California on Thursday (20.07.17), Tatum – who portrays Tequila, a Statesman secret agent in the upcoming motion picture – said: “I was just begging to be in this movie.”
The ‘Magic Mike’ star’s character makes a brief appearance in the trailer for the film in which he is wearing a cowboy hat and introduces Taron Egerton’s alter-ego Eggsy to Statesmen, the HQ of a titular group of US secret service agents.
‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ looks set to be action-packed, and Tatum has admitted he’s never filmed fight scenes quite like it before.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I don’t think I have ever shot a fight scene like this. It is so stylised and very different from what I am used to.
“You run the fight all the way through. You shoot it from different angles and shoot the fights in basically, like, two shots, two angles and Matthew is completely at the opposite end of the spectrum.
“It is so unbelievably manicured and sort of just designed. I have never done a fight scene like that before.”
‘Kingsman: The Golden Cirle’ features the likes of Colin Firth and Mark Strong reprising their roles as Eggsy’s former mentor and trainer respectively, and also stars Halle Berry and Jeff Bridges.
The movie – which is based on the comic book ‘The Secret Service’, created by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar – sees the Kingsman agents join up with the Statesmen to try to defeat a common enemy.

Daisy Ridley admits to nerves on Murder on the Orient Express

OHMYGOSSIP — Daisy Ridley could barely hold a cup when she filmed ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ because she was so nervous working with the all-star cast.
The 25-year-old actress is starring as Mary Debenham in Kenneth Branagh’s big screen adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot novel of the same name and the film has a stellar ensemble cast which includes Penelope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Dame Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Josh Gad and Michelle Pfeiffer among others.
Ridley admits she found it difficult to nail her scenes due to her excitement at working with so many major names.
Speaking to the Daily Mail newspaper, Ridley said: “Before a scene my heart is pondering, every time. But my first scene on ‘Orient’ had to be in front of everyone, didn’t it? I couldn’t hold a cup, because it was rattling. But I got through it.”
Depp, who is cast as Ratchett, jumped on-board the project after holding discussions with the director and reading the script penned by Michael Green that he adapted from Christie’s novel.
Pfeiffer portrays Mrs. Hubbard and Dench has been signed to the role of Princess Dragomiroff, while Lucy Boynton is Countess Andrenyi.
Christie’s novel, which was published in 1934, follows the brutal murder on-board the famous train as Belgian detective Poirot attempts to solve the mind-boggling case.
Announcing the project last September, Branagh said: “Christie’s ‘Murder…’ is mysterious, compelling and unsettling. I’m honoured to have this fantastic group of actors bring these dark materials to life for a new audience.”
James Prichard and Hilary Strong, both of Agatha Christie Ltd., will executive produce, while Sir Ridley Scott, Simon Kinberg, Mark Gordon and Branagh are also producers.
‘Murder on the Orient Express’ is slated to be released this November.

Doctor Doom film ‘in the works’

OHMYGOSSIP — A Doctor Doom film is in the works.
Showrunner Noah Hawley has confirmed he is working on a standalone movie for Fox about the ‘Fantastic Four’ villain, who is the alter-ego of scientific genius Victor Van Doom.
Speaking on the panel for FX show ‘Legion’ – of which Hawley is the creator – at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday (20.07.17), he said: “Two words. Doctor. Doom.”
Sources have told The Hollywood Reporter that Hawley has an eye on directing the project.
Doctor Doom is the traditional enemy of the Fantastic Four but he has also gone up against the Avengers, and specifically Marvel Universe characters Iron Man and Black Panther in the past.
He is a sorcerer but also knows a thing or two about inventing, wears a metal mask to hide his disfigured face caused by an industrial accident, and is the ruler of fictional country Latveria.
The third and latest ‘Fantastic Four’ movie was released in 2015 starring Toby Kebbell as Doctor Doom, alongside the likes of Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell.
Julian McMahon played Doom in the 2005 original ‘Fantastic Four’ and he reprised the role two years later in ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’.
Fox have the rights to the characters, who were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

Jason Flemyng opens up about Sean Connery friendship

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Flemyng made a “friend for life” in Sir Sean Connery when the pair filmed ‘The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen’ together.
The 50-year-old actor appeared with the James Bond legend in the 2003 adaptation of Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill’s comic book series which unexpectedly performed poorly at the box office and was panned by many critics, despite bringing together great literary characters such as Dorian Gray, Tom Sawyer, The Invisible Man and Captain Nemo.
Flemyng – who portrayed Dr. Henry Jekyll and his monstrous alter ego Edward Hyde – admits the movie suffered due to Connery’s poor working relationship with the director Stephen Norrington but he personally had a great time making the movie and became great pals with the now 86-year-old screen icon.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper, Flemyng said: “Like anything, it has its day. Why wasn’t it successful at the time? It think it was surrounded by controversy. Sean Connery and the director famously didn’t get on. Connery didn’t really want to promote it. But for me, I made a friend for life and I’ve got some great Sean Connery stories and I’ve got some that are too rude to repeat. Any day you go on set and find Sean Connery there is a success. It’s like going diving and seeing a dolphin.”
The ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’ star is also grateful to the movie for making him the go-to guy for prosthetic work as his portrayal of Mr. Hyde earned him roles in movies such as ‘X-Men: First Class’ and ‘Clash of the Titans’.
Talking about his work in rubber and makeup, he said: “My first one was probably ‘The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen’. After that the studios would look at a film, look at the cost of it and go ‘that’s a bloody nightmare, who will do that with a smile on their face?’
“Then they go ‘Flemyng!’ Actually, they don’t even know I’m called Flemyng. They go ‘that block who was in Lock, Stock!’
“And for about four or five years I was so flattered they’d asked, I was doing ‘X-Men’, ‘Clash of the Titans’… I was never out of full-body prosthetic make-up.”
Joking about the physical and mental toll that type of acting takes on a performer, he added: “There’s a group of actors who have prosthetic depression – it’s a thing. We go to Prosthetics Anonymous meetings and talk about it.”

Will Smith compares Bright to Training Day and Lord of the Rings

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Smith has likened his new movie ‘Bright’ to a fusion of ‘Training Day’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’.
The David Ayer-directed fantasy crime movie boasts a star-studded cast that also features the likes of Joel Edgerton and Noomi Rapace – and Will has urged moviegoers to prepare for something special, likening it to two of the most popular films of this century.
Summarising ‘Bright’, Will told Empire magazine: “It’s ‘Training Day’ smashed together with ‘Lord Of The Rings’.”
Will’s thoughts were echoed by the director, who was given complete creative freedom of the project by Netflix, the streaming service which financed the movie.
David said his latest effort is unlike any movie he’s previously made.
He explained: “This isn’t like some bull**t PG-13, standard-issue studio story.
“You haven’t seen this before. This is a new kind of thing we’re doing.”
Will and David previously worked together on ‘Suicide Squad’, with the actor admitting he appeared in that movie instead of starring in ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’.
Will previously explained: “I had the two screenplays in front of me for the ‘Independence Day 2’ and for ‘Suicide Squad’. I had to choose between the two of those.
“Even the choice of going to ‘Suicide Squad’ – nothing about the qualities of the movie – but the choice of trying to go forward versus clinging and clawing backwards.
“I do want to aggressively go forward and do new things and create and hopefully be able to stumble upon a new heyday.”

Charlize Theron rejected a role in Wonder Woman

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlize Theron rejected a role in ‘Wonder Woman’.
The 41-year-old actress has admitted she was asked to star in the recent DC Extended Universe movie, which sees Gal Gadot take on the titular character as the Princess of the Amazons, because her busy work schedule meant the projects she was working clashed with shooting scenes for the fantasy film.
Speaking about her career opportunities and being approached by filmmaker Patty Jenkins to star in the production on ‘The Howard Stern Show’, the blonde-haired beauty said: “No, I’m not in ‘Wonder Woman’.
“[Patty] She did come to me, and at the time I was either working on something or I don’t know. There was a reason I couldn’t do it.”
However, it is unknown what character Theron would have been cast as.
Theron and Jenkins worked together on the popular crime film ‘Monster’ in 2003, and ever since the pair have become great friends.
Speaking about the 45-year-old director, the ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ star said: “[Patty and I] we’re friends. I think the world of her.”
And Theron believes the duo share such a great relationship because they have a “mutual respect” for one another.
She continued: “We have a mutual respect for each other. ”
Meanwhile, there has been growing speculation that Theron will take on the role as James Bond in the action movie franchise, but the fashion icon has dismissed the idea as crazy.
Speaking previously about taking on the role of Bond and following in the footsteps of Pierce Brosnan, Sean Connery and the late Roger Moore, she said: “Oh wow. That’s so insanely generous and nice. I don’t even know what to do with that. That’s really sweet.”
Theron reassured Daniel Craig she would not be stealing his work.
She added: “Daniel, you got the job. I am not going to take that job away from you.”
