Danny-Boy Hatchard’s dog has died

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny-Boy Hatchard’s dog has died.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actor returned to his Twitter account today (26.07.17) – following three weeks away – to announce that his pooch Django had passed away.
He wrote alongside a photograph of him and the pooch: “A lot of you may have noticed my recent absence from social media, and that today is in fact my birthday. However, in all honesty, I’m feeling light years away from wanting to celebrate.
“The truth is in recent weeks my heart has been shattered into a thousand pieces, and only now have I began to find the strength to put the pieces back together, and pluck up the courage to release the horrific news that my baby boy Django has passed away.”
The 26-year-old hunk refused to divulge how the blue French Bulldog died but he told fans he will share more details of his passing when he feels ready in due course.
He added: “I am feeling beyond lost and still heavily grieving, but will release a blog with more details in due course. I have written and deleted pages and pages of things to say but I’ve come to realise that I am just not ready yet, so please bear with me.”
Danny then concluded his message by asking fans not to wish him happy birthday but to, instead, prayer for his perfect pet pooch and hold him in their thoughts.
He said: “In the meantime, as a polite request, please don’t wish me happy birthday, but instead say a prayer for my little angel and spare a moment to hold him in your thoughts. I want today to be about him. Thank you (sic).”

John Barrowman has appendix removed

OHMYGOSSIP — John Barrowman has had his appendix removed.
The former ‘Doctor Who’ star was taken to Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, California, for emergency surgery after he collapsed in agony earlier this week.
Taking to his Instagram account after the operation yesterday (25.07.17), he said in a short clip: “I feel like I have been hit by a car. I’m just sore all over and my voice is sore because of the tube going down my throat. The staff in the surgery knew who I was, they were fans which was kind of funny. I was just lucky my appendix didn’t burst, they caught it in time. I was in a lot of agony yesterday. I knew something was up, I felt really bad.”
Although he’s in a bad way, the 50-year-old actor – who also starred in the spin-off ‘Torchwood’ – has assured fans he’s on the mend and will be back home “soon.”
He added: “In the surgery they made three incisions on my belly and then did it by laser. I’m just glad it went well and hopefully I should get home soon.”
And two hours later, John appeared to be in brighter spirits as he posed for a photograph of him in his TARDIS socks that had been knitted by a ‘Doctor Who’ fan.
He accompanied the shot with the caption: “Got my fan made #TARDIS socks on keeping my feet warm in the hospital. JB (sic)”

Michelle Hardwick ‘still good friends’ with ex-wife

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Hardwick is still “good pals” with her ex-wife.
The ‘Emmerdale’ actress split from Rosie Nicholl late last year – just two years after they tied the knot – but, despite going their separate ways, they have remained friends because they have joint custody of their pet pooches Harley and Jess.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ on Wednesday (26.07.17), she said: “We’re still good pals – we’ve got our two dogs.”
Although the 41-year-old star – who came out gay in 2013 – has had a tough year, she has been blown away by how many people have approached her about their sexuality.
She said: “I’ve had a lot of people reaching out to me about sexuality. If I can help one person, then my job is done.
“When I was 21, 22 and discovering my sexuality I didn’t have anyone – there was no one I could have looked up. There’s a long way to go, but we’re getting there.”
Michelle – who is known for playing Vanessa Woodfield in the long-running soap – announced that she and Rosie had split up in February because they started to drift apart.
She said at the time: “It was one of those things where we did drift apart. We had a big fairytale wedding and I still love that day, it was brilliant.
“It’s just really sad and one of those things that happens. We still have our dogs which we’ll share and nobody else was involved, it just happened and it was a mutual decision.
“I grew out of love and she became more of my best friend. It was like we were living as friends, not a married couple.”
Michelle also kept it a secret from her cast mates until recently because she didn’t want to be bombarded with loads of questions when she was trying to get stuck into work.
She explained: “It wasn’t an overnight shock, it was just a slow-burning feeling we both had. I kept it a secret from everyone at work, I just came to work to work and didn’t want to discuss it with anybody. Nothing was posted on social media, we just wanted it to be private. But people have started to notice that I am not wearing my wedding ring.
“I didn’t want to respond until the time was right. It is really, really sad. I can’t help but think about my parents who were happily married at 17 and 18 and are still blissfully happy – and that makes me feel like a failure.”

Jodie Whittaker’s medical training for Trust Me

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Whittaker was given basic medical training for her new role in ‘Trust Me’.
The 35-year-old actress portrays Cath Hardacre – also known as Dr. Ally Sutton – in the forthcoming doctor drama and has admitted she was shown how to do resuscitation on a dummy and was given the opportunity to cannulate – a technique in which a thin tube is placed inside a vein to provide venous access – the show’s writer, Dan Sefton.
Asked if she was given medical training, she said: “Yes! The writer, Dan Sefton, who is also medical consultant and a doctor outside of TV production, showed us a load of stuff that he used when he was training people. He brought in the CPR dummy and showed us how to do a cannula and he, very bravely, let me put a cannula in his vein. I did it right, thank God! Also, YouTube is amazing. The genius of the internet is that you can basically sit at home and Google medical procedures, and TV shows such as 24 hours in A&E, which I watched hours of.”
However, although she was given training, Jodie felt she slipped up numerous times but was able to cover it up because her alter ego was “out of her depth.”
She explained: “With regards to the technical stuff, we had an on-set consultant so there was always someone to help when we had to do the procedures.
“The best thing for me was that my character was also out of her depth and didn’t always know what she was doing so it kind of covered my own personal fumbles.
“I’m not someone who likes to over prepare for dialogue scenes, because I think that makes me not listen to what the other person is saying as I’ve already decided how I’m going to do it.
“It immediately makes it interesting and new and you can’t plan for that, which is great. You can’t ‘wing’ the medical stuff so I had to do my research for that.”
The psychological thriller follows the struggles of Cath Hardacre (Whittaker) as she’s sacked from her nursing job on the cardiology ward for whistle blowing after she expresses her concerns about the hospital’s standards slipping.
Drowning her sorrows at a party, the hard-working nurse stumbles upon her best friend Dr. Ally Sutton’s discarded paperwork after she learns that she’s leaving her life as an A&E doctor and immigrating to New Zealand with her new husband.
In a desperate attempt to save her career and make a new life for herself, Cath steals her friend’s identity and accepts a job at a failing emergency department.
But her world looks set to crumble and her big secret could be revealed as her good-for-nothing ex-partner Karl (Blake Harrison) is desperate to win her back and a journalist is chasing her about the issues at her former hospital.
‘Trust Me’ will air on the BBC on August 8.

Marcel Somerville teases new material with Blazin’ Squad

OHMYGOSSIP — Marcel Somerville has teased that Blazin’ Squad will release some new material.
The ‘Love Island’ finalist – who narrowly missed out on the £50,000 prize money to Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies earlier this week – has said there’s a “possibility” of the hip-hop band, who disbanded in 2009, dropping a new album later this year.
Speaking to Digital Spy, he said: “There’s a possibility of a little thing happening.”
And, although the group have been talking about making a comeback, the 31-year-old hunk – who was known as Rocky B Plat’num during the band’s heyday – doesn’t know if he’ll rejoin them completely as he wants to see what comes off the back of ‘Love Island’.
He explained: “I haven’t agreed to anything yet but I probably will turn up. A few of the boys came to the airport this morning when we arrived back from Majorca.
“They were like, ‘Marce, there’s so much stuff on the table man’. I was like, ‘Alright – let me see this stuff first and we will go from there.’ ”
But it looks like Marcel could be persuaded as his girlfriend Gabby Allen – who he met in the villa – has admitted she can’t wait to see her beau perform with his band mates.
She said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing him perform. It’s mad isn’t it? Meeting [Blazin’ Squad] at the airport was so weird. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is so weird!’ ”
As well as his own singing career, Marcel has also offered to help his former co-stars Kem Cetinay and Chris Hughes – who struck up a bromance in the love shack – release their own track after they were approached by numerous record labels.
Grime star Stormzy, who appeared in the villa via video link this month, has also asked to join the duo on the track after he became obsessed with ‘Love Island’ this year.

Peter Capaldi to help Jodie Whittaker with Doctor Who role

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Capaldi wants to help Jodie Whittaker settle into her new role as Doctor Who.
The 59-year-old actor has portrayed the Time Lord in the sci-fi series for the past four years, but is set to hand the keys to the TARDIS over to the former ‘Broadchurch’ actress in the festive special this year, and has promised to “talk her through the madness” before the scenes hit television screens so she’s prepared for the drama.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, he said: “David Tennant and Matt Smith have been fabulous to me, because some days things can become overpowering and who can I talk to, and those guys do talk to me.
“I hope I can do that with Jodie. I am always here to talk her through the madness.”
The news that the new executive producer Chris Chibnall – who will take over from Steven Moffat – has decided to cast a female as the lead received mixed reviews, but Capaldi is pleased that bosses have decided to change things up this year.
He said: “Anyone who has seen Jodie Whittaker’s work will know that she is a wonderful actress of great individuality and charm. She has above all the huge heart to play this most special part. She’s going to be a fantastic Doctor.”
And it’s not just Capaldi who agrees with Chibnall’s decision to cast Jodie, 35, as producers at the broadcaster can’t wait to see how she’ll depict the time-traveller.
Piers Wenger, Controller BBC Drama explained: “Jodie is not just a talented actor but she has a bold and brilliant vision for her Doctor.
“She aced it in her audition both technically and with the powerful female life force she brings to the role. She is destined to be an utterly iconic Doctor.”

Ross Kemp to do Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Ross Kemp wants to do ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actor has admitted he’d jump at the chance to take part in the ballroom and latin competition in the future after he was forced to turn it down in 2008 as he’d just returned from being shot at while filming his documentary ‘Ross Kemp in Afghanistan’ and felt like he needed time to recover psychically and mentally.
Speaking to The Daily Star newspaper, he said: “I love ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. I have been asked before. I was going to do it. Then I got home from Camp Bastion after being shot at and thought: ‘No, don’t be so silly.’ ”
Asked if he’d do it in the future, he added: “I’ll never say never to anything.”
And the 53-year-old actor should have some time to do the show as his ‘Extreme World’ – a series that has been opening people’s eyes to homelessness, drug addiction, violence and poverty for the past six years, was recently axed by Sky1.
A spokesperson for the channel said previously: “Our focus for Sky1 this year is offering customers even more great drama, comedy and factual entertainment. Going forward we are shifting away from commissioning factual shows on the channel, and ‘Ross Kemp’s Extreme World’ will be coming to an end after its upcoming series.”
Although Ross was hoping to bag himself another series next year, he’s not completely disheartened as bosses have promised him something exciting in the future.
A spokesperson said: “Ross remains a much-loved member of the Sky1 family. He in talks with him about exciting new factual entertainment projects for the channel.”
And that’s not the only door that has opened up for the actor as he’s also hoping to reprise his role as bad boy Grant Mitchell in ‘EastEnders’ sometime this year.
When pressed on whether he would go back to Albert Square, he said: “You know what, in life, particularly if you work in television, who knows? Never rule out anything!”
Ross has appeared in the programme on and off since 1990 and saw his hard man alter ego go back to Albert Square temporarily last year when his on-screen mother Peggy (Dame Barbara Windsor) passed away following a lengthy cancer battle.

Chris Hughes asked for extra large condoms

OHMYGOSSIP — Love Island’s Chris Hughes had to ask bosses for “extra large” condoms.
The 22-year-old hunk wasn’t afraid to get down and dirty with his girlfriend Olivia Attwood while they were inside the famous villa in Mallorca, and was proud of the fact he had to ask producers to buy him bigger condoms because of the length of his penis.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: “They had to bring in some extra-large condoms for me. They gave them to me and I was like ‘okay hopefully these will work.’ ”
And, although the heartthrob was “disappointed” with himself for getting frisky on camera with the blonde bombshell, the wannabe singer can’t wait to watch his sex scenes back so he can examine the facial expressions he makes in the bedroom.
He explained: “I’m definitely going to watch it back. I want to see what my facial expressions are like. I did disappoint myself by having sex in there but I was ridiculously horny. My hormones completely changed.”
The couple – who missed out on the £50,000 prize money to champions Amber Davies and Kem Cetinay – only left the villa on Monday (24.07.17) night but they can’t wait to get back into bed with one another and have sex away from the cameras.
Olivia, 26, explained: “We’re going to have sex at the hotel tonight – without a doubt.”
Meanwhile, although he didn’t manage to win the show, Chris looks set to have a busy career as record producers see huge potential in him and his co-star Kem.
A source said recently: “Top record companies have approached Kem and Chris as a duo and there are big offers on the table. They will be releasing a single.
“Fans have fallen in love with them on the show and the boys want to make the most of their musical talents. It’s definitely not the last you’ll see of Kem and Chris.”
And fans may actually get to watch the boys – who formed a friendship on screen – smash the charts, as television bosses are hoping to secure them for their own show.
An insider explained: “Chris and Kem’s friendship has captured the nation – everyone has loved watching the bond they have together. Viewers have even called for the pair to be eligible to win this series as a twosome. Bosses don’t want to see an end to their bromance and are already brainstorming possible TV show ideas to pitch for when Love Island is over. Fans won’t be seeing the end of them just yet.”

Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies to have ‘shotgun wedding’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies are planning to have a “shotgun wedding”.
The ‘Love Island’ champions – who beat off stiff competition to nab the £50,000 prize money earlier this week – may have only been together six weeks after they fell in love inside the villa, but they’re already thinking about getting hitched and having a baby.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, Kem said of his plans to pop the question to his partner: “This is no banter. I can imagine myself having kids and a family with Amber. This is the bird I’ve made my girlfriend. I am in love, I want to be with her forever.”
Amber added: “I found something in someone I didn’t know was possible.”
And the couple have already started thinking about their nuptials as they’re reportedly keen to return to the famous villa in Mallorca, Spain, for the lavish event and tie the knot in front of their friends, family, their now-former co-stars and the camera crew.
A friend said: “Saying their vows in front of the cast and crew again would be magical.”
And, although some people will no doubt be baffled by the pair’s determination to become husband and wife, wealth management expert Richard Simpson thinks it’s a fantastic idea as it means they’ll stay “relevant” and will possibly nab their own show.
He explained: “They need to stay relevant and must keep their celebrity couple profile high. If they were to cement their love by marrying quickly an d have kids, then they would be hugely in demand as a reality TV family.”
Meanwhile, Kem and Amber were over the moon when they were announced as the winners of the show earlier this week, but bosses decided to put their relationship to the test almost immediately as both of them had to pick an envelope – one containing the prize money and the other was empty – and whoever won the cash could either keep it for themselves or share it with their partner.
After having the grace to let Amber pick her envelope first, it was Kem who managed to bag the cash, and after an audience member told him to share the money with his pal Chris, the hunk decided to honour his girlfriend by splitting the funds with her.
He said: “Of course I’m going to share it”.

Gabby Allen to have boob job this year

OHMYGOSSIP — Love Island’s Gabby Allen will have a boob job later this year.
The blonde beauty has confirmed she will go under the knife to get a bigger bust in a few months’ time after she was riddled with insecurities while she was living inside the villa alongside the likes of Olivia Attwood, Montana Brown and Camilla Thurlow.
Speaking to The Sun Online, she said: “I’m the only girl in my family that doesn’t have big boobs, it kind of just missed me out. I dunno, I just think it would give me more confidence if I had them. I don’t like not wearing a bra or anything like that.
“I wanted to have it done ages ago and went for a consultation and decided against it as I was working freelance so I wasn’t able to take much time off work, but when I have a bit more time it may fit in better, so maybe over Christmas.”
But the 25-year-old star is adamant she won’t go “too big” with the implants because she’s such a small build that she fears she’ll end up looking like a “box.”
She explained: “I won’t go too big because when you have got small boobs you can wear what you want without your boob flopping out, also because I’m quite short if I’m not working put as much my weight does fluctuate and I worry that I’ll end up looking like a box. I just want to have my boobs out and be proud of them.”
And, although her boyfriend Marcel Somerville – who she struck up a romance with in the villa last month – loves her the way she is, the hunk fully supports her decision.
He added: “We were talking about it earlier; I love you how you are. I wouldn’t want you to change but if it’s something you want to do, it’s your decision, it’s your body and your life, you have to do what makes you happy.”
The pair raised eyebrows about the authenticity of their romance inside the villa as they managed to share a bed for two months without having sex.
But they have revealed they finally did the deed after the wrap party earlier this week as they were away from the cameras.
Gabby said: “We had sex last night after the wrap party. We were in a villa with no cameras so we flip reversed it.”

Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies ‘at it like rabbits’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies were “at it like rabbits” in the ‘Love Island’ villa.
The couple – who won the ITV2 show on Monday (24.07.17) – have confessed to having sex the most out of all the couples in the villa, even more than was shown on the programme, as they couldn’t deny the “sexual chemistry” between them.
Kem admitted: “We were at it like rabbits.”
Whilst Amber added: “It was true that we had sex in the house more than any couple. Why not? My mum didn’t want me to have sex on TV, but I never ruled anything out. If you fancy someone and you’ve got that sexual chemistry, it’s a natural thing. By the end everyone was doing it.”
During their stint on the show, the pair had sex in more adventurous locations in the villa than any of the other couples, opting for the sofa, in broad daylight and even trying to get intimate in the wardrobe.
Amber said: “One day we were just chilling and it was overcast and we wasn’t sunbathing.”
And Kem confessed: “I was sitting there and I was just thinking to myself … I think I just gave you the look and you knew. Then we went inside and we was just chilling. We thought we were going to go to sleep but we didn’t end up sleeping.”
The pair even went as far as having sex in the pool when the contestants were celebrating Camilla’s birthday.
Kem said: “Everyone was on floats. We didn’t have one so we were just chilling in the pool. We can’t keep our hands off each other … We was hiding under the turtle. Camilla saw us and just went, ‘Oh my God.'”
And Amber added to The Sun newspaper: “We had a big floaty turtle over our heads. I think we ruined Camilla’s birthday.”

Casey Batchelor: Yoga has improved my sex life

OHMYGOSSIP — Casey Batchelor’s sex life has improved since she’s turned to yoga.
The 32-year-old glamour model is reinventing herself as a yoga instructor, having spent £4,000 on an intensive three-week training course in Spain – and Casey has revealed it’s already paying dividends in the bedroom.
The brunette beauty said: “I went vegan and stopped drinking.
“I used to be a party girl but I barely touch alcohol now.
“I feel like I’ve been reborn. Meditation has changed my life, I don’t get stressed any more.”
And the former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star admits her new-found flexibility has transformed her sex life.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Casey explained: “My boyfriend loves it when I do yoga in a crop top and tiny shorts.”
Meanwhile, Casey admitted earlier this year that she rejected the chance to return to ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ because she has a new man.
The busty star admitted she was approached by bosses of show to re-enter the infamous house alongside her former love rival Jasmine Waltz.
But Casey said: “They put the feelers out there. I think they asked Lee [Ryan] and he said no, which is understandable. It would have been good to bring me back in.
“I don’t know if I would have done it because of the anxiety. And I’ve met someone – it’s early but I’ve met someone. I’m best off not being in there right now because I do end up getting myself into trouble.”

Olivia Buckland was on medication for anxiety

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Buckland used to be on medication for her anxiety.
The former ‘Love Island’ contestant – who competed on the reality TV show last year – has admitted she’s battled with the mental health condition since she was a teenager but credits her boyfriend Alex Bowen, who she met in the villa, for helping her beat it.
She told new! magazine: “I’ve had it since I was in school. I used to be quite popular, but I’d hide it. No one knew. I had bad anxiety when I came out of ‘Love Island’ but things have really changed now and it’s because of Alex. I’ve learned to trust again and he always makes me feel good about myself. It was down to being badly treated by an ex – that was the original trigger – when I was about 17 … I was on medication but three weeks ago I came off it. That shows how much my life has changed.”
And, although the couple are now engaged to be married, the 23-year-old reality TV star isn’t planning to have a baby with her beau any time soon – although he wants to.
She explained: “I tweeted that my ovaries ache last week because I spent time with my nail technician’s two-month-old baby boy, Jackson. He’s so cute.
“Alex and I do get broody at times and Alex really wants a baby. He keeps asking and I’m like: ‘No! We’re too busy!’ Alex doesn’t want to be over 30 when he becomes a dad, so if he’s 30, I’ll be 27 and I don’t mind that.”

Luc Besson forced producers to get Rihanna in latest film

OHMYGOSSIP — Luc Besson had to persuade his producers to get Rihanna to star in ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’.
The iconic ‘Fifth Element’ filmmaker knew from the start that he wanted to cast the ‘Unfaithful’ hitmaker in the pivotal role as Bubble in his new sci-fi film, but Besson had to persuade his producers to reach out as they were unsure they could get her in the independent film.
He said: “Bubble is the ultimate artists – that’s the part. And for me, Rihanna is the ultimate – she’s the queen. I thought about her from the beginning. And when we started the cast, I said, ‘For Bubble, I’d love to contact Rihanna.’ They [the producers] said ‘What’s your second choice?’ I said, ‘Why?’ They said, ‘Luc, come on.’ I said, ‘Why not? Let’s try it. Let’s see.’ The first question we asked to the manager is if she’s interested in shooting in the film. If she’s not interested, then don’t even give her the script. But the guy came back and said, ‘Definitely, yes.’ ”
Besson – who is married to film producer Virginie Silla – and Rihanna enjoyed a “normal relationship” on set he says the R&B singer couldn’t have been more “perfect” as a professional during the shoot.
He said: “On set, she was normal. Even me, at the beginning, I said, ‘I hope it’s not going to be Rihanna and the great orchestra.’ But on the first day, she looked at her entourage and said, ‘You, out.’ No one was on set. She came on set by herself. It was a normal relationship between an actor and an actress. When she got emotional she let me get in. She was perfect. The fact that she is the queen of soul is a handicap, in fact. I don’t use that. She’s not singing in the film. She’s not a superstar in the film. She has a specific role. It’s a handicap. And my concern with her was if she wanted to be in the film for the right reason or not, and she did.”
The all-star cast also included supermodel-turned-actress Cara Delevingne, Clive Owen, Ethan Hawke, Rutger Hauer and Dane DeHaan and the cast and director were in London for the UK premiere of ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’ on Monday night (24.07.17).

Hampton Fancher had Blade Runner sequel planned

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Blade Runner’ co-writer Hampton Fancher had a sequel script planned a year after the first movie.
The original cult film was released in 1982 and now 35 years later Harrison Ford is set to reprise his role as Rick Deckard in ‘Blade Runner 2049’ but Fancher – who wrote the original and sequel scripts with Sir Ridley Scott – admits to having an idea a year after the original was released.
Speaking at San Diego Comic Con, Fancher said: “When we finished the first one, within a year we were talking about a second one. Ridley called, I was in New York and I went out to Los Angeles, and we batted stories around. Nothing came of it because of legal problems. I guess, because I was reading in the newspapers, I thought Deckard had come to bad circumstances – he was nowhere – and he got assigned a ‘Blade Runner’ job in Moscow, and it was all Russian, and cold , and snow … John le Carre, you know? That’s what I was thinking of. I remember telling Ridley that ‘Harrison in Moscow!’ Just that’s a good thing, right? And nothing came of it.”
The highly-anticipated sequel will see Ford return to the movie and despite famously clashing with franchise creator Sir Ridley Scott, he insists he still has a lot of respect for the veteran filmmaker, but admitted he had a “very different” experience working with Denis.
Jared Leto will star in the role of Neander Wallace, but director Denis Villeneuve admitted his first choice was the late David Bowie, but when the iconic singer passed away from cancer in January 2016, he was forced to look for someone else with similar rock star qualities.
The film also stars ‘La La Land’ hunk Ryan Gosling as Officer K and Villeneuve recently admitted the part was written for the actor from the start.
Denis said: “The part was written for Ryan right from the start. He was perfect.”

Anne Hathaway in talks for Barbie movie role

OHMYGOSSIP — Anne Hathaway is in the frame to star in the ‘Barbie’ film.
The 34-year-old actress is wanted by Sony and Mattel to take on the role of a character expelled from Barbieland for failing to live up to the perfection expected of its residents, according to website The Ankler.
The part was initially going to played by Amy Schumer but she has pulled out of the project, intended for cinemas in 2018, due to “scheduling conflicts”.
Hathaway is said to be interested in the role and talks have been progressing well.
Director Alethea Jones is in talks to helm the movie which Sony and Mattel want to send a positive message to young girls about body image and self-esteem.
Schumer, 36, admitted she was totally “bummed” to drop out of the ‘Barbie’ film, even though she had been targeted by trolls in the wake of her casting, an online attack which she laughed off with her usual wit.
In a statement, she said: “Sadly, I’m no longer able to commit to ‘Barbie’ due to scheduling conflicts. The film has so much promise, and Sony and Mattel have been great partners. I’m bummed, but look forward to seeing Barbie on the big screen.”
Hathaway will next bee seen in the all-female led crime caper ‘Ocean’s Eight’ and is currently shooting Steven Knight’s new thriller ‘Serenity’.
