Shaun Williamson ‘relieved’ to leave EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Shaun Williamson was “fairly relieved” when he quit ‘EastEnders’.
The 51-year-old actor turned his back on the long-running soap in 2004 after playing the role of bumbling idiot Barry Evans for 10 years and, although he’s admitted he would be open to a return in the future, he was glad he left when he did because he wanted to give theatre a go but bosses wouldn’t give him the time off to fulfil his dream.
Speaking in last night’s (03.08.17) episode of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’, he said: “I was in it for 10 years and I either had a great story or I didn’t. Twenty million people watched it, because there was only four channels. It was one of those things before everyone had laptops, that’s what you did. I was fairly relieved [to leave]. You did find yourself after a few years thinking, ‘I’ve done this storyline’. They’ve just kicked it about a bit.”
And, although he was the one who asked to leave the programme, Shaun has admitted there is no bad blood between him and his former cast mates but they’re not in touch.
He added: “When I bump into them it’s pleasant but I haven’t got them in a phonebook.”
Meanwhile, his alter ego may have been killed off 12 years ago, but Shaun hopes, if there is any way of resurrecting the gullible buffoon, he’ll return as a hardman.
He said previously: “I just think it’s pushing it if they try to make out Barry has been hiding in Tottenham for the last 12 years. He was weak.
“Barry started off as quite an edgy character; he gave Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) the number of the hitman who shot Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), he got hold of Cindy’s kids and tried to help get her out of the country and he set fire to the car lot [so I would like him to come back a bad boy].”

John Challis says Benidorm wedding is outrageous

OHMYGOSSIP — Benidorm’s Joyce Temple-Savage is set to get married,
The acid-tongue hotel manager – played by Sherrie Hewson – hasn’t had the best of luck when it comes to love over the years, but it looks like all of that is about to change as her long-time admirer Monty (John Challis) will pop the question and the pair will tie the knot in a very “over the top” ceremony next year.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, John said: “It’s all very over the top.
“It’s an outrageous ceremony. It’s all done on a cliff edge on an island just off Benidorm. It’s all ridiculous and very funny.”
The 74-year-old actor has made sporadic appearances in the comedy show, but he’ll become a full-time cast member in the 10th series, which is set to release in 2018.
He explained: “It’s wonderful filming scenes as Monty and Joyce.
“He loves her so desperately, and when he finally gets her it’s quite moving.”
John is probably more known for his role as Boycie in ‘Only Fools and Horses’ and his character was married to Marlene, played by Sue Holderness, but the actor said Sherrie is one of the funniest ladies he has ever worked with.
He said: “I’m now on my second TV wife. Sherrie’s one of the funniest ladies.
“Me and her really hit it off from the start.”
Meanwhile, the resort show has proved such a hit with viewers over the past 10 years that the creator Derren Litten has decided to pen a version that will work in the theatre.
A source said recently: “It’s going to be more outrageous and funny than the TV show. Casting has already begun and a few of the telly stars have already shown interest. With the show’s popularity at a peak, it’s the right time to do it.”
Not much is known about the theatre version – including whether Sherrie will take part, but it’s believed there are some lucrative offers on the table for the cast.

Linda Barker wants to take part in Dancing On Ice reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Linda Barker has reportedly auditioned for a slot on ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The skating show will make a return to screens next year after it was axed in 2014 following a flop in ratings and, although bosses are still trying to finalise their celebrity line up, the interior designer is determined to do all she can to nab a spot.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Linda has been training really hard in her gym and has been telling friends she’s really enjoyed the discipline of it all. She’s been ice skating constantly and throwing herself into it.
“Linda auditioned in Blackpool recently and show bosses seemed impressed. But ITV have a quite large group of celebrities so there’s no guarantee she will make the final cut. There’s still a lot of training to go as it stands.”
Linda shot to fame on BBC’s ‘Changing Rooms’ with host Carol Smilie and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen but she quit after six years for better offers.
The 55-year-old presenter has appeared on a number of reality TV shows over the years, including ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Outta Here!’ and ‘Splash’.
Meanwhile, bosses are determined to keep details of the revamped show under wraps for the time being but Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby are set to be the hosts.
The presenting duo – who have become known for their work on ITV daytime show ‘This Morning’ – fronted the ice skating competition when it first aired 11 years ago,.
The news comes after it was recently reported that professional skater Sylvain Longchambon is due to return to the show – after having previously appeared in 2011 and 2013 – to help the celebrity hopefuls stay upright in the rink while twisting and turning to music in front of a panel of tough-talking judges.

Louis Walsh gets paid less than girls on The X Factor

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne are paid more than Louis Walsh for ‘The X Factor’.
The singing show’s boss Simon Cowell has revealed that he’s prepared to part with more cash when it comes to nabbing the two females for his judging panel because he knows that the Irish music manager is willing to take any fee in order to reclaim his seat on the series.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Simon said when asked about the recent BBC wages reveal: “For once this is good news. Victory. Yeah, they definitely are. I just don’t tell Louis. He’s got enough money for a bum implant so he shouldn’t be complaining. I’m almost like a pioneer I guess, yeah. If they get the money, it doesn’t matter to me whether you’re a boy or a girl. But I would say we’ve probably paid girls more money than guys over the years.”
And the 57-year-old music mogul – who fired Louis in 2007 and then again in 2015 – couldn’t resist poking fun at the entertainment manager, 64, as he backed up Sinitta’s claims that he’s undergone a Brazilian bum lift.
He said: “He discussed it with me. He’s always had a thing about Kim- and deep down he’d probably like to be the next Kardashian. He’s left it a bit late but, starting with the bum, why not?”
And that’s not the only surgery Louis has had – although Simon refused to divulge any other details.
He added: “One I definitely can’t talk about, but he’ll come out with that.”
Meanwhile, this year’s show will see a huge shake-up regarding format as Simon is on a desperate mission to save it from getting the chop after last year’s viewing figures were a flop.
A source said recently: “Ratings plummeted and Simon knew a drastic revamp was needed. The Saturday night show became so tedious as there was rarely any drama which an eviction would bring. ITV believes transforming it is the right decision.”

Simon Cowell hails ‘courageous’ Ant McPartlin

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell has praised Ant McPartlin for having the “courage” to confront his personal troubles.
The 41-year-old TV host checked himself into rehab for drink and drug addictions in June, and although Simon doesn’t know all of the details behind Ant’s problems, he has heaped praise on the popular star.
He said: “I have worked in entertainment for a long long time and I’ve seen what happens with pressure. I’m not making excuses here.
“I’ve worked with him for 16 years. All I can tell you about Ant is he’s one of the most genuine people you’ll ever meet. He hasn’t changed in all the years I’ve known him.
“I don’t know details behind the scenes. But when someone has the courage to own it, deal with it, made a public statement, we would a million per cent support him. I think he’ll be fine.”
And Simon said Ant has a strong support network around him, including his long-time TV partner Declan Donnelly, as he bids to overcome his troubles.
Speaking to Dan Wootton for The Sun’s ‘Bizarre Life’ podcast, Simon explained: “He’s got great people around him and also he’s got a great family around him. Dec’s his best friend.
“We made it clear we would always stand by them.”
Last month, meanwhile, it was claimed that the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ presenter is “over the worst” of his addiction to drink and drugs.
A source said: “He is doing really well. It has been a tough few weeks but he is coming through it and is now over the worst of it.
“Ant has been very brave and is totally committed to his recovery. All that matters to him is getting well and getting back to his best.”

Gabby Allen grateful for support after ‘racist abuse’

OHMYGOSSIP — Gabby Allen has thanked fans for their support after she and Marcel Somerville were targeted by “horrid and racist comments”.
The ‘Love Island’ couple were rocked by the horrific abuse earlier this week, but the blonde beauty has admitted she is grateful to have a platform to be able to “raise awareness” about the harmful remarks.
In a series of posts on Instagram Stories, she wrote: “Thanks to everyone for being supportive with regards to me sharing horrid and racist comments earlier this week…
“I’m so fortunate to have been given such a great platform off the back of Love Island which is allowing me to raise awareness of all this and make it…
“known IT IS NOT OK to speak or about people like that (sic)”
The 25-year-old star was recently left “absolutely horrified” by “disgusting” messages she has received because she is dating Blazin’ Squad star Marcel.
She said: “Right guys so I have been reading through some of the messages I’ve received over the past few weeks and I’m absolutely horrified at the amount of disgusting racial abuse due mine and Marcel’s relationship.
“It completely unacceptable and to know that this is still goes on in 2017, it breaks my heart. I’ve grown up in multi-cultural and LGBTQIA environments all my life. To know that this is still a thing, I’m mind blown.”
What’s more, the star has also received death threats since appearing on the ITV2 programme.
She said: “I couldn’t believe my phone when I came out.
“I’ve had death threats. I’ve been told to kill myself. It’s crazy.”

Harry Potter star Robert Hardy dies

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Harry Potter’ star Robert Hardy has died at the age of 91.
The revered British actor had a fantastic career in theatre, television and film and became known across the globe in recent years for playing Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge in Warners Bros’ wizarding franchise.
Hardy also was beloved to British TV audiences for his portrayal as senior veterinarian Siegfried Farnon in the long-running BBC One show ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ from 1978 to 1990.
The show became a massive hit and attracted audiences of up to 20 million. Although the original run ended in 1978, the series was revived ten years later after the BBC obtained permission to write new storylines.
News of Hardy’s passing was confirmed in a statement released by his children Emma, Justine and Paul and the trio paid tribute to their dad’s incredible achievements across his 70-year career.
The statement read: “From his early start, post WWII, with the Shakespeare Memorial Company in Stratford, to his later role in the ‘Harry Potter’ films as Cornelius Fudge, The Minister For Magic, it is perhaps the case he will be most remembered for two iconic roles: as Siefried Farnon in the long-running and much loved BBC series ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ and in his many and magnificently distinguished portrayals of Winston Churchill.
“Dad is also remembered as a meticulous linguist, a fine artist, a lover of music and a champion of literature, as well as a highly respected historian, and a leading specialist on the longbow. He was an essential part of the team that raised the great Tudor warship The Mary Rose. Gruff, elegant, twinkly, and always dignified, he is celebrated by all who knew him and loved him, and everyone who enjoyed his work.”
His children also thanked all the staff at Denville Hall, a retirement home for actors located in Greater London, England, for the care they provided to Hardy in his final weeks.
The statement added: “We are immensely grateful to the team at Denville Hall for the tender care they gave during his last weeks.”
His two standout portrayals of World War II era British Prime Minister came in 2015’s ‘Churchill: 100 Days That Saved Britain’ and in 1981’s ‘Winston Churchill: The Wilderness Years’.
Some of Hardy’s other notable roles included parts in TV shows ‘Middlemarch’ and ‘Little Dorrit’ and big screen performances in cult 1972 Hammer horror film ‘Demons of the Mind’, Kenneth Branagh’s 1994 re-telling of ‘Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein’ – which starred Robert De Niro as the monster – and Ang Lee’s 1995 adaptation of Jane Austen’s ‘Sense and Sensibility’.
He was awarded a CBE for his services to acting in 1981.

Glass will start filming in September

OHMYGOSSIP — Samuel L. Jackson will start shooting ‘Glass’ in September.
The shock ending to the 2016 horror ‘Split’ revealed it was a follow-up to 2000’s ‘Unbreakable’, which starred Bruce Willis as security guard David Dunn who discovers he has super-human strength and resistance to injury.
Back in April, the director revealed in a tweet that the new film ‘Glass’ will be a follow-up to both ‘Split’ and ‘Unbreakable’.
In ‘Unbreakable’, Jackson starred as Elijah Price, who was born with Type I osteogenesis imperfecta, a rare disease that renders sufferers’ bones extremely fragile and prone to fracture.
This led to the character being dubbed ‘Mr. Glass’ by other kids and the inspiration for his search for Dunn’s character, who is his polar opposite.
‘Glass’ is set to follow Dunn as he tries to track down The Beast – the darkest version of multiple-personality sufferer Kevin Wendell Crumb (James McAvoy), who kidnapped Anya Taylor-Joy’s character Casey Cooke in ‘Split’.
Of the new movie, Jackson told Collider: “We start rehearsal on September 18th and I start shooting on the 25th.”
In January, Shyamalan revealed that ‘Split’ villain Crumb was actually included in his first drafts of ‘Unbreakable’ but had to be cut out.
‘Glass’ will be produced by Shyamalan and Jason Blum, who also produced the two previous films for Universal Studios.
Ashwin Rajan and Marc Bienstock will also be part of the new film along with Steven Schneider, who will serve as an executive producer.

Ron Howard reveals new golden R2 unit

OHMYGOSSIP — Ron Howard has revealed an R2 unit will feature in the upcoming ‘Han Solo’ movie.
The Academy Award-winning filmmaker took over directing ‘Star Wars’ spin-off story after Phil Lord and Christopher Miller left Disney’s project due to “creative differences” with screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan, who penned classic ‘Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back’.
And Ron has now given fans a little insight into the much-anticipated movie, posting a picture on his Twitter account of a gold-plated R2 unit rather than its iconic blue bodywork.
He wrote: “These droids can be so damn intractable. But we’ll go until we get it right! #UntitledHanSoloMovie (sic)”
The ‘Han Solo’ spin-off movie is set to follow a younger version of the titular character, with Alden Ehrenreich taking over the iconic role from Harrison Ford.
Han and his wookiee sidekick Chewbacca will be seen first meeting Lando Calrissian – played by Donald Glover – and they will also encounter Woody Harrelson’s alter ego Beckett, who is believed to be a mentor to young Han who guides him on his journey to becoming a space smuggler.
Warwick Davis has been cast in the upcoming ‘Han Solo’ movie but it is not known what role he will take on in the movie.
The actor previously appeared in 1983’s ‘Return of the Jedi’, 1999’s ‘Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace’ and 2015’s ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.
He will also appear in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’, which is slated for release in December this year.
Meanwhile, Ron has also hinted that his brother Clint, who has made cameos in almost all of his films, could make an appearance in the ‘Star Wars’ spin-off.

Helen Mirren says she’s too old for Bond role

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Helen Mirren thinks she’s “too old” to be a female James Bond.
The 72-year-old actress has admitted she would have relished the role in her younger years, but she no longer considers herself to be suited to the part of 007.
Dame Helen said: “I’m too old. In my youth, that would have been great of course.
“But that time was different; we could never even have imagined a woman playing that role.”
The Academy Award-winning actress has enjoyed a career full of major successes.
But Dame Helen believes she should have really been a “struggling artist”, given her modest upbringing.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph newspaper, she explained: “Of course, it’s wonderful to have success, and the thing I love most about it is economic freedom.
“Coming from a background where there was no money – and if you didn’t work, there was nothing to live on – to have bought my own house and to have never been in debt or on welfare is something I feel proud of.
“But there’s a part of me that thinks I should have been a struggling artist.”
This comes shortly after former Bond girl Halle Berry said that the iconic secret agent is “steeped in history” and should always be played by a man.
The 50-year-old star – who appeared in ‘Die Another Day’ in 2002 – reflected: “I want women to be tough but I don’t know if Bond should be a woman. I mean, that series is steeped in history, you know from Ian Fleming’s stories. I don’t think you can change Bond to a woman.
“We can create a new Bond character that’s a woman, and give her a new name, based on that theory, but I don’t know if Bond should be a woman.”

Luc Besson loved turning RIhanna into a modern-day Cleopatra

OHMYGOSSIP — Luc Besson relished turning Rihanna into Cleopatra for ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’.
The acclaimed movie-maker teamed up with the chart-topping star for the new sci-fi adventure, in which she delivers lines from the William Shakespeare play ‘Antony and Cleopatra’, and Luc has admitted he loved the experience.
He shared: “For me that’s the ultimate pleasure – Rihanna, the queen of music, as Cleopatra. It’s the sort of mix I love.
“We can all listen to reggae music in Greenland while eating sushi. We are allowed to do whatever we like!”
Luc, 58, conceded his new movie represents something of a career risk for himself.
But the French filmmaker isn’t afraid to take chances and has described making ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’ as the realisation of a long-held ambition.
He told the Guardian newspaper: “My dreams are my dreams.
“I wanted to do ‘Valerian’ for the longest time. I wondered, ‘Can I do it?’ But once I get started, I’m like the English foxhound: I will never let go.”
The sci-fi movie also stars model-turned-actress Cara Delevingne, who recently revealed she has an “amazing” friendship with Rihanna.
The British star loves how her close friendship with her ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’ co-star has developed since they met at a fashion show five years ago.
Cara also said she was also thrilled to work with Luc on the new movie.
She explained: “It’s been amazing. We met at a fashion show and five years later we’re doing a Luc Besson film.
“We all grew up watching his films so to be appearing in them as leading ladies is incredible.”

Dave Bautista hasn’t read Avengers: Infinity War script

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Bautista refused to read the script for ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.
The 48-year-old actor and MMA fighter will reprise his role as Drax the Destroyer from the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ franchise in the upcoming Marvel ensemble movie, and has said he’s only read his own scenes so he can be as surprised as the general public are when he watches the premiere.
When asked during a Twitter Q&A what his reaction was when he read the script, Dave wrote: “I chose not to read it. Gods honest truth! I want to sit there with my bucket of popcorn and bag on M&M’s and be surprised! #fanboy (sic)”
Dave had no choice but to read his own scenes, however, and was pleasantly surprised to see the “good chemistry” offered between his character and the heroic Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr.
When asked how quickly the chemistry between their characters forms, Dave said: “Immediately. Here’s the thing is that, I went to the premiere in London of ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, and Robert went out of his way to come and meet me and say how much he loved me in the first [‘Guardians’] film. That meant the world to me, so it put me at kind of an automatic comfort level with him, so as soon as we hit the stage man, there was no pressure or walls there, I just felt like, ‘This guy is very supportive of me.’ I think that’s just him, he’s a very giving actor across the board. But for me personally, I just felt totally at ease with him, and it makes for good chemistry when you’re comfortable with someone.”
‘Avengers: Infinity War’ is due to hit screens on April 25 2018.

Disney are rebooting the beloved 1994 animated movie with ‘Jungle Book’ filmmaker Jon Favreau helming the project and now the ‘Doctor Strange’ actor is reportedly in talks to play the villain of the movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Sinister Scar, who is the brother of Mufasa and uncle to the young cub Simba, was originally voiced by Jeremy Irons in the award-winning 1994 animated Disney movie.
Another addition to the cast John Oliver, 40, will join the cast, which includes Donald Glover as Simba and James Earl Jones, who will be reprising his role as Mufasa from the cartoon classic.
Oliver will be voicing Zazu, a hornbill who serves as the king’s majordomo and was originally played by Rowan Atkinson.

Hayley Atwell joins Disney’s Winnie The Pooh live-action film

OHMYGOSSIP — Hayley Atwell has joined the cast of Disney’s ‘Winnie The Pooh’ live-action movie.
The 35-year-old actress has jumped on board the forthcoming project alongside Ewan McGregor after she was approached to play Christopher Robin’s wife, although no specific details have been released about the character, according to Empire.
The movie, which is being directed by Marc Forster, is centred on Christopher Robin – played by McGregor – as a grown-up, who has lost his imagination and is too focused on work to have fun with his family until Pooh Bear surprisingly re-enters his life.
The Christopher Robin character was created by late English author A.A. Milne and featured in his two books ‘Winnie-the-Pooh’ from 1926 and ‘The House at Pooh Corner’ from 1928 – inspired by his own son and his beloved teddy bear – with both tomes focusing on the boy’s adventures with talking bear Pooh and the other animals of the Hundred Acre Wood.
Disney licensed the rights to Winnie-the-Pooh in 1961 and the honey-loving bear and his friends – Piglet, Eeyore and Tigger – have featured in various TV shows, including ‘The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh’, and four animated feature films; ‘The Tigger Movie’, ‘Piglet’s Big Movie’, ‘Pooh’s Heffalump Movie’ and ‘Winnie the Pooh’.
Disney are yet to announce a release date or production schedule for the movie, but it’s believed they are still in the casting stages of the process at the moment.
Meanwhile, Atwell’s casting comes just a few weeks after her legal drama ‘Conviction’ was axed by US television channel ABC.
The network will still produce the 13 episodes it had originally ordered, but no new episodes will be commissioned and the series will not be continuing.

Katie Price had to persuade husband Kieran to take part in reality show

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Price had to persuade her husband Kieran Hayler to take part in her new reality TV show.
The 39-year-old star has revealed her spouse wasn’t overly keen to have the cameras on him 24/7 whilst they were filming for ‘My Crazy Life’ but she confessed she “didn’t really give hm a choice” not to be in it.
Speaking on ITV’s This Morning, Katie said: “I just asked him, I said well basically the cameras are going to be around so it’s just easier for you to be in it then dodge the camera or you’ll never see me, so he did it. He’s quite good with it actually, he doesn’t have a choice really.”
The ‘Loose Women’ presenter also revealed she is the breadwinner in the house and Kieran is the one who stays at home as a house-husband.
She added: “Thing is, I’m the one who goes to work, I’m the breadwinner so he does the bits at home that need doing. We’re modern day now, he’s like a house husband.”
And Katie – who has Harvey, 15, Junior, 12, and Princess, 10, from past relationships and Jett, three, and two-year-old Bunny with her current husband – admits she never switches off.
She explained: “I suppose I never switch off. It’s just chaos but if that all went, I would be so bored. I like the chaos and the loudness and just having fun.”
In one of the recent episodes of the TV series, the mother-of-five revealed her plans to continue growing her brood.
She shared: “Harvey’s 15 next month, Junior and Princess are hitting their teenage years soon. I’ve got these two little sprogs that will keep me on my toes. And then I’ll have more sprogs until the doctor says you can’t have any more. And then I’ll find a surrogate and then I’ll adopt.”
