Danniella Westbrook pregnant

OHMYGOSSIP — Danniella Westbrook is pregnant with her new fiance’s baby – just weeks after they met.
The 43-year-old actress – who already has two kids, Kai, 21, with Robert Fernandez, and Jody, 15, with ex Kev Jenkins – and Alan Thomason, 34, got engaged last week, and they are now said to be expecting their first child together, according to The Sun Online.
The former ‘EastEnders’ star – who played Sam Mitchell in the soap – was recently pictured showing off her engagement ring during a vacation in Spain.
Last week, Danniella posted a picture of the pair kissing on her Twitter account and admitted he “completes me”.
The star also posted a selfie of the pair and revealed she was given two rings during the proposal.
She wrote: “Feeling super special 2 proposals and two rings #AndTheNewMrsThomason #CheckYaSelf #thatsAll #spoiledRottenMe (sic)”
Former cocaine addict Danniella has told fans she is the “happiest” she’s ever been in her life.
She tweeted: “Sorry for my absence from social media but love does that to a girl but I’m back and happiest I’ve ever been in my life (sic)”
But shortly after announcing their engagement, Alan’s ex Charlene Whyment claimed he had proposed to her just four weeks before.
She said: “I’m sickened to my stomach – one minute I think I’m getting married to the love of my life and the next I find out he’s proposed to a woman with half a nose.
“I lived with Alan for three years in the UK before he moved to Spain. I split my time between there and the UK.
“I left to visit my family four weeks ago and he proposed to me at Alicante airport.
“I said yes, of course, I thought we were madly in love and I thought it was forever. I’m in complete shock at what I’ve seen.”
But Danniella – who returned to taking cocaine after suffering a miscarriage in 2016 – hit back on Twitter, joking Charlene’s wedding invite is “in the post”.
She tweeted: “So heart broken she sold a story enjoy your ££ cos I’m enjoying ur ex Oh & ur invites in the post (sic)”

Quentin Tarantino backed for Bond

OHMYGOSSIP — Tim Roth wants Quentin Tarantino to direct the next James Bond film.
The 56-year-old actor thinks his ‘Hateful Eight’ director – who is known for the strong violence in his films – would make the “goriest” installment ever in the spy series but believes it would also have the sharpest script.
According to the New York Daily News newspaper, he said of the possibility: “What fun that would be and we would all be lining up for that one… It would also probably be the wittiest Bond ever.”
While Daniel Craig is set to reprise his role as the suave spy for the fifth time with the next movie, Tim would love to be a Bond villain if Tarantino landed the director’s job.
Speaking at a 25-year anniversary screening of ‘Reservoir Dogs’, Tim said: “Oh yeah, I would love to do that.”
Michael Madsen – who appeared in Tarantino’s ‘Kill Bill’ in 2003 and Bond film ‘Die Another Day’ the following year – also thinks the director would be a great choice.
He said: “He would be good. I have got to make friends with Daniel Craig so I can get in it.”
And ‘Django Unchained’ star Walter Goggins thinks the 54-year-old filmmaker would give a different approach to the classic franchise.
He said: “So often Quentin is not given credit for how important he is visually as a filmmaker.
“He invented his own language. No one writes like he does. It is always magic.”
Tarantino – who recently revealed he plans to make two more movies and will then retire – shied away from the suggestion, but reportedly seemed flustered when asked about his next project, insisting claims it was to be an examination of the Manson Family murders were being “misrepresented”.
He said: “It’s being misrepresented as a Manson film – that is all I can say.”

Anna Kendrick teases more Pitch Perfect

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Kendrick has hinted there are more ‘Pitch Perfect’ movies in the pipeline.
The 32-year-old actress loves shooting the musical films alongside her co-stars, which include Brittany Snow, Hailee Steinfeld, Anna Camp and Rebel Wilson, and admits they would all love to keep returning to the franchise “forever”.
Asked if there could be another film after the upcoming ‘Pitch Perfect 3’, she said: “Hell, yeah. We’d do them forever.”
However, Anna admitted it can be intense because she and her castmates are together “constantly”, but just when it seems it might get overwhelming, the weekend arrives and they go their separate ways for a break.
She told Entertainment Weekly: “It’s totally like summer camp. We spend every waking moment together: We’re shooting together constantly, we’re in the hair and makeup trailer together and when we’re not shooting, we’re in a green room together.
“It starts to feel like ‘Oh, my God if I see these girls for one more second…’ and then every weekend it’s just like, ‘What you guys up to?’ ”
The new movie sees a change of director, with Trish Sie stepping up behind the camera, and the ‘Step Up All In’ filmmaker admitted she became a “stalker-girl” in her determination to get the job.
She said: “When I heard they needed a new director I was just like, ‘That’s it. I am destined for this.
“It was like I was the stalker-girl who sees a guy in the coffee shop and is like, ‘I’m going to marry him!’ It was that crazy, one-sided love affair, but it all worked out.”
And the cast were delighted with what Trish put into the movie.
Anna said: “It’s so nice to have fresh blood on set. It makes sure we’re on our best behaviour… She’s this kind of crazy, lioness woman – a real force of nature.”

Luc Besson wants to make a Valerian sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Luc Besson wants to make a ‘Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets’ sequel.
The director had a great time shooting the sci-fi saga with Cara Delevingne and Dan DeHaan and thinks there is plenty of scope to bring their futuristic cop characters back time and time again.
Asked if he’d make another ‘Valerian’ film, he said: “Yeah, I will sign tomorrow. I would love to. We had so much fun with Cara and Dane. I think the three of us will sign tomorrow if we can do another one or two.
“Because they’re cops, every film is an adventure. There’s a problem, there’s a killer, there’s something we have to discover the truth and you can do 20 films like this, it’s like ‘Starsky and Hutch’ in space.
“Every episode is a new trial. And you’re not linked by the first one, the link is just the two characters, so it could be totally different. It’s more difficult when you have something like ‘Spider-Man’ or ‘Transformers’, as it’s always the same kind of thing, and you can’t explode the thing. Here you can. You can do something totally different, which I like.”
Besson particularly enjoys working on sci-fi films because they give him the “freedom” to do whatever he likes.
He explained to SciFiNow magazine: “I like the freedom of it, because you can reinvent everything. And I don’t think you can do a sci-fi every year.
“I’m glad I have a kind of rhythm. I did ‘The Last Combat’, then 15 years later I did ‘The Fifth Element’ and then 20 years later I did ‘Valerian’. It’s a good rhythm. You need time because you need to reset the entire thing. And then ‘Lucy’ is kind of between, it’s not a real sci-fi.”

Peter Andre’s second movie role

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Andre has landed another movie role.
The ‘Mysterious Girl’ singer revealed earlier this year he was to make his big screen debut in a horror film that will shoot next year, but before he gets to work on that, he could be set to fly out to Los Angeles to work on a different project with the same director, James D.R. Hickox.
He revealed: “I’ve been sent a new film script. It’s completely different from the horror movie ‘The Undoing’ and there’s a very big possibility I’ll be going out to LA in October to film it.
“My good friend James Hickox is involved in this new one and put me forward for the part. If it all goes ahead, it could be made before the first one.”
However, the 44-year-old singer is due to fly out for filming around the same time his doctor wife Emily – the mother of his youngest children, Amelia, three, and Theo, eight months – goes back to work.
Writing in his new! magazine column, he added: “There’s a chance filming dates might clash with Emily going back to work, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.”
Peter previously revealed it was taking him a long time to learn his lines for ‘The Undoing’.
He said: “I’m slowly learning the lines and I have my own way of learning them. First, I read the script out loud over and over. Then, after a few weeks, I read it into a Dictaphone and listen back to it religiously (no, I don’t like the sound of my own voice) and lastly, I write it down. Let’s hope it works!”
The ‘Flava’ hitmaker – who also has children Junior, 12, and Princess, 10, with ex-wife Katie Price – is determined to make a success of his new acting career, so much so that he’s also vowed to hire an acting coach to help him.
He said: “Whatever happens, and I know it’s early days, I’ll get with an acting coach here in the UK and really work hard at it so I can deliver it the best I can.”

Jeremy Clarkson: ‘I considered killing myself due to hospital boredom’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson says he thought about killing himself during his recent hospitalisation.
The ‘Grand Tour’ star became unwell while on a recent trip to Majorca with friends and was admitted to hospital where he was diagnosed with severe pneumonia, but Jeremy, 57, has joked that he was so bored that he considered suicide.
He wrote in his column for The Sunday Times: “I’m sure many of you will have found yourself in hospital, not having planned to be there. But for me it was a new experience. And a weird one. Because I was in a room with nothing on the walls except wallpaper, and most of that was coming off. And I was in there for an hour, on my own, with absolutely nothing to do. The boredom was so bad I thought often about killing myself.”
Jeremy – who says his doctor told him he could die if his illness was not properly treated – explained that he has never been ill before in his life and was disappointed not to contract something more exciting than “pathetic” pneumonia.
He wrote: “In all my adult life I’ve never been ill. Oh, I’m sure my children have found me in a white-faced heap on the kitchen floor from time to time, and they must have heard me calling for God on the porcelain telephone, but they’ve never seen me in bed, whimpering and pleading for soup.
“I’ve led an idiotic life filled with smoking and danger and germs, but despite this I’ve never taken a sick day. I’ve never had an antibiotic. I’ve never had food poisoning. I’ve never broken a bone, and I sure as hell have never spent a night in hospital.
“I’d always hoped that when the luck ran out, I’d catch something exotic, something that would cause a doctor to harrumph, reach for his textbooks and then pull together a panel of great medical minds from all over the world to discuss in wonderment what might be done. About the chap with a supernumerary penis growing out of his forehead.
“But no. Instead I got a pneumonia, which is what my mum said I’d catch if I went outside without a vest. It’s pathetic.”

Jodie Kidd didn’t want commitment of Top Gear

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Kidd didn’t want the “huge commitment” of hosting ‘Top Gear’.
The 38-year-old model-and-racing driver is a big fan of cars, but turned down the chance to be one of the presenters on the popular motoring show following the sacking of Jeremy Clarkson and the departure of co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond.
However, she still enjoys watching the programme and thinks Matt LeBlanc and his group of co-hosts are doing a good job.
Asked why she turned the job down, she said: “It would have been such a huge commitment. It just wasn’t for me.
“I love the show though, it’s getting better and better.”
While Jodie has previously taken part in ‘Celebrity Masterchef’ and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, she has no interest in reality shows such as ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ or ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ because she wouldn’t learn anything.
She said: “I feel very lucky that I’ve been given the opportunity to learn amazing skills.
“I’m A Celebrity…’ and ‘CBB’ aren’t for me though. I want to learn something from every project I take on. Sitting in a house or a jungle doesn’t appeal.”
While Jodie turns 40 next year, she isn’t upset about getting older.
She said: “It’s a great age. Finally, life is more settled and I feel less insecure as I get older. It’s a good excuse for a big party anyway.”
And the blonde beauty – who has son Indio, five, with former partner Andrea Vianini and was previously married to David Blakeley for just four months – doesn’t think she’ll be having any more children.
She told OK! magazine: “Not in the foreseeable future. Indi and I are pretty content. I think I might be a bit old anyway.”

Simon Rimmer joins Strictly Come Dancing line-up

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Rimmer has signed up for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ‘Sunday Brunch’ star is the seventh famous name announced to be taking to the ballroom when the BBC One series returns to screens this autumn and is “excited, terrified, and proud” to be taking part.
He said: “I am so excited, terrified and proud to be invited to be part of ‘Strictly’ 2017. I’ve always been a HUUUUGE fan of the show. When I put on my sequins and hit the floor it will genuinely be my very first time dancing ballroom and latin. Nobody will try harder, have more fun or get more out of it than me. I can’t wait.”
The 54-year-old chef revealed his involvement on ‘Sunday Brunch’ on Sunday (13.08.17), where co-host Tim Lovejoy warned him his job on the Channel 4 show was at risk if he didn’t do well.
Presenting his pal with a tin of fake tan, Tim said: “If you don’t win, you’re going to lose your place on the show.”
Simon is particularly looking forward to trying the ballroom routines.
He said: “I’ll be good at the waltz. I think I’ll be more ballroom than Latin.”
The two stars had teased throughout the show they would be revealing one of the contestants, leading viewers to speculate it would be one of the day’s guests, Martine McCutcheon, ‘EastEnders’ actor Lee Ryan or The Script frontman Danny O’Donoghue.
Simon joins actors Joe McFadden and Davood Ghadami, actress Gemma Atkinson, presenter Ruth Langsford, The Saturdays singer Mollie King, and Reverend Richard Coles in signing up for the show.
More names will be announced over the coming weeks, but the likes of former ‘X Factor’ stars Aston Merrygold, Alexandra Burke, and Olly Murs, ex-‘EastEnders’ star Samantha Womack, ‘The Weakest Link’ host Anne Robinson, and singer Matt Goss have been rumoured to be taking part.

Kirsty Gallacher arrested for drink driving

OHMYGOSSIP — Kirsty Gallacher has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
The 41-year-old presenter was pulled over by police in Eton, Berkshire, at 11.30am on Saturday (12.08.17) after she was spotted driving erratically on her way to pick up her children Oscar, 11, and Jude, seven, from her ex-husband Paul Sampson’s house.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “Kirsty had enjoyed a night out and was driving to pick up the children from Paul’s house.
“As of 5pm last night, she was still in custody.”
Her family are said to be furious about her arrest.
The evening before her arrest, the Sky Sports News presenter had posted a photo of herself enjoying a night out with a group of friends at the Winning Post pub in nearby Winkfield. However, Kirsty didn’t seem to have an alcoholic drink in the picture.
Kirsty had been presenting a 6pm Sky Sports News show on Friday (11.08.17) evening alongside Jim White.
Kirsty – who split from rugby union star Paul in 2014 after four years of marriage – recently admitted she is keen to have more children.
She said: “You have to get up and go to work, and you worry about how they’re doing at school while you’re trying to do live TV. But you do learn, you develop and you do get stronger. You have to learn from your mistakes.
“I would like more children. There, I’ve said it now, but it’s true! If I’m lucky enough to have one more then I’d be thrilled, as I don’t feel like I have finished yet on the baby thing.”

Richard Hammond back behind the wheel

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Hammond has got back behind the wheel, two months after a serious car accident.
The ‘Grand Tour’ star had been involved in a road race in a £2 million supercar in the Swiss mountains in June but he lost control of the vehicle, and it tumbled down a slope before it burst into flames, leaving him badly shaken and with a fractured knee, and he has now gone for his first drive since the terrifying accident
He shared a link to a video on his Drive Tribe website on Twitter and wrote: “Back Behind The Wheel!(sic)”
The Drive Tribe video was captioned: “Today I took my First Drive since my recent visit to Shuntsville”
In the video, the 47-year-old star – who was left in a coma for two weeks after a crash while filming ‘Top Gear’ in 2006 – was visibly emotional and admitted he was worried about sharing the footage because it felt “too personal”.
He said: “I’m back, oh yeah. This feels better than the first time, being 17 and given the keys to freedom because this time, I’m ready.
“This is beautiful, thank you doctors, thank you.”I shouldn’t even be sharing this moment, it feels too personal right now … I mean I’m dressed, but I feel like I’m not.
“This is where I’ve been all this time, in my head. I can go anywhere.”
Richard also admitted he needs to “exorcise” the “ghost” of driving through mountains as soon as he can.
He added: “Wales is over there, it’s got mountains in it, there’s a ghost I need to exorcise, I’m going there.”
The presenter recently revealed doctors have ordered him not to run for over a year because of his knee injury, much to the annoyance of his wife Mindy.
He said: “There’s no walking on the knee for a few months and I’ve been told there’s no running on that for about a year or 18 months. Which is bad because Mindy would often throw the running shoes at me and be like, ‘Get out!’
“I’m driving her mad; it’s the summer holidays too.”

Ashley James to host Love Island?

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley James wants to host ‘Love Island’.
The former ‘Made in Chelsea’ star is currently presenting behind-the-scenes videos for ‘Hollyoaks’ and adores her new job, but she’s also got her eye on eventually replacing Caroline Flack on the saucy show.
She said: “I love working with ‘Hollyoaks’ – it’s surreal being on set as I used to have posters of Duncan from Blue and Gary Lucy.
“[I’d love to present] ‘Love Island’. I don’t want to steal Caroline Flack’s job but I’m obsessed with relationships – maybe because I’m so bad at them.”
After two years away from ‘Made In Chelsea’, the blonde beauty suggested she isn’t too interested in going back.
Asked if she’d ever return to the show that made her famous, she said: “TV is always the dream and I have meetings all the time, but I’m doing presenting now.”
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old star is reluctant to start dating again after so many disastrous experiences, but she’s taking steps to change her approach.
She told LOOK magazine: “I’m not really dating. I’ve been burnt so many times that I think I am a bit hesitant. I’m currently reading ‘The Five Love Languages’ [by Gary Chapman]. It helps you interpret relationships.
“Like right now, I’m messaging someone who’s frustrating and it’s teaching me to be more vocal and communicate how I’m feeling more.”
And Ashley admitted she doesn’t feel very comfortable using dating apps.
She said: “I downloaded Bumble but I swiped the wrong way for ages. I’m bad at messaging – I call people.”

Ant McPartlin’s addiction could have killed him

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant McPartlin’s doctors told him his prescription drug addiction could have “killed” him.
The 41-year-old presenter has recently left rehab after a two-month stint and admitted he agreed to seek help after being rushed to hospital at 5am following an “insane” binge of painkillers tramadol and morphine, along with alcohol, while recovering from knee surgery in June.
He admitted: “I was at the point where anything — prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs — I would take.
“And take them with alcohol, which is ridiculous. The doctors told me, ‘You could have killed yourself’. ”
And of the incident which sparked his hospitalisation, he recalled to The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “It was five in the morning and I was screaming in pain so I rang [my wife] Lisa.
“She was upstairs because I was living in the living room because I couldn’t get around.
“I said, ‘You’re going to have to call me an ambulance. I’m in a bad way’.
“I was insane. It sends you crazy. It was to the point of hearing things, seeing things in the garden and still the pain was getting worse.
“The ambulance came and took me to Chelsea and Westminster [hospital].
“I was depressed through the whole thing because I was in pain and immobile.”
As well as the painkillers, the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ star was prescribed sleeping pills to help him through the nights following surgery this year, but was also drinking heavily.
He admitted: “I was drinking far too much — beer, spirits, wine, anything, really.
“I took sleeping pills too — I was prescribed temazepam and diazepam. They’re really strong and addictive.
“That would knock you out. But with painkillers it’s a very deadly mix.”
The ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ star agreed to go to rehab following an intervention by his presenting partner Declan Donnelly and his wife Lisa, but admitted it was only during their frank conversation that he revealed the extent of his problem.
He said: “It was the very end until I told anyone.
“It wasn’t until I came back home to London that I admitted I was in a bad way.
“I hid it from everyone because I was embarrassed about it. I would lie.
“I would hide pills in different places so it would look like you only had a small supply when you in fact had a much bigger supply.
“Coming out of Chelsea and Westminster, that was when we sat down and it was decided I needed to go into rehab.
“Dec came around and he kind of knew it was at the point where I needed help.
“Once I admitted I was in a bad way, they then helped get a team together because obviously I wasn’t in a fit state to do it myself.
“We had an hour’s conversation then I packed my bag and I went.
“I’m lucky because I have the means to do that. But there are a lot of people who don’t. So I’m very grateful.”
Asked if he fought the suggestion he went to rehab, he replied: “Nah. As soon as I asked for help, I was admitting I was done with it all.
“Lisa and Dec gave me a bit of a send-off from mine. And they’ve been brilliant throughout.”
While Ant – who began taking prescription drugs after damaging his knee in 2014 and had a botched operation that left him in agony the following year – knows his wealth made it easier to get treatment, he also admitted that made it easier for him to get his hands on the strong painkillers as he could afford to visit multiple doctors for more prescriptions.
He explained: “They’re very easy to get a hold of. That’s the problem with someone who gets addicted, you’ll go to various people.
“You can’t blame anyone because you were asking for them.
“You end up abusing that by going to different people. I went to three private doctors. That’s how you can get more. I’ve got the means to speak to people.
“And there were medical teams at shows who would give me them too. I would take as much as I could to just get through stuff…
“From the old lady who lies about her Valium supply to someone like me who was necking tramadol to the point of psychosis, in the end it’s the same thing. It’s addiction.”

‘Spider-Man’ spin-off Silver and Black gets release date

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Spider-Man’ spin-off ‘Silver & Black’ will be released on February 8, 2019.
Sony has announced the release date for the upcoming Gina Prince-Bythewood directed movie, which will hit cinemas four months after the previously announced October 2018 release of ‘Venom’, starring Tom Hardy.
And fans could be in for a treat as it was previously revealed that Spider-Man could feature in the same universe as ‘Venom’, ‘Silver & Black’, and the other Spider-Man movies being made by Sony.
Amy Pascal recently revealed the studio’s plans for the iconic superhero, seemingly confirming that Spider-Man – who is played by English actor Tom Holland – will feature in a number of spin-off movies.
Amy explained: “Those movies will all take place in the world that we are now creating for Peter Parker.
“They’ll be adjuncts to it, it may be different locations but it will still all be in the same world, and they will be connected to each other as well.”
Asked if Spider-Man will feature in the Venom or Silver & Black films, Amy said: “There’s always a chance.”
By contrast, the studio has previously insisted the spin-off movies would not include Spider-Man, despite his connections to the main protagonists.
Meanwhile, Tom has confirmed a ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy is in the works.
The 21-year-old actor revealed ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ will be followed by two further standalone movies that will allow Marvel to develop the story of the superhero.
Tom explained: “Yes, there is what we call the arc of the character. There is still a lot of room for Peter Parker and Spider-Man, especially, to grow in the next two movies.
“He’s definitely not the finished article by the end of ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and I really look forward to exploring the different ways he can grow up and … go through puberty I guess. It’s going to be an exciting couple of movies.”
Asked to clarify what he meant by a “couple of movies”, Tom said: “There will be a ‘Spider-Man 2’ and 3.”

Bad Boys for Life pulled from Sony schedule

OHMYGOSSIP — The third ‘Bad Boys’ movie has been pulled from Sony’s schedule.
‘Bad Boys for Life’, the follow up to the 1995 movie ‘Bad Boys’ and its 2003 sequel ‘Bad Boys II’, was initially set for release on November 9, 2018, but Sony has now removed it from its upcoming schedule, leaving its future in doubt.
Earlier this year director Joe Carnahan pulled out of the movie, due to “creative differences”, plunging the latest instalment of the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence movies into crisis.
The original films starred Will as Mike Lowery, and Martin as Marcus Burnett, who are two pals and detectives in the narcotics division of the Miami Police Department.
The first film charts the duo’s battle to recover $100 million of seized Mafia heroin stolen from a police vault before their department gets shut down.
‘Bad Boys II’ saw the duo investigating the flow of highly-potent ecstasy into the Miami, and although it wasn’t received well by the critics, the film went on to make $270 million worldwide.
Smith, 48, and Lawrence, 51, will reprise their roles as drug cops Lowery and Burnett should the movie still go ahead.
The delay in getting the film to the big screen has been blamed on a number of issues, including Smith’s hectic schedule.
Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer of the original two films, revealed in April last year, that the script was still being written.

Matthew McConaughey’s devilish quality landed him Dark Tower

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew McConaughey’s “devilish quality” landed him his role in ‘Dark Tower’.
The Oscar-winning actor stars as the Man in Black, aka Walter Padick, in director Nikolaj Arcel’s adaptation of Steven King’s fantasy saga, and he had a great time playing a character who wasn’t an “apologetic bad guy”.
Arcel said: “One of the first things I told the producers was I really wanted McConaughey to play the Man in Black because I was a fan.
“I’d just seen him in ‘True Detective’ and ‘Dallas Buyer’s Club’ and I thought he had that devilish quality to him, even though he usually plays good guys …
“He hadn’t read all the novels, he’d read the first one which he loved, and when he read the script he was like, ‘Great, so I’m kind of playing the Devil here.’ And I was like, ‘Sure’.
“He was relishing the fact this wasn’t the apologetic bad guy. I know it’s a big trend, and I agree with that trend, that for villains in modern cinema you have to figure out what their motivation is and it can’t be pure evil, but for Walter … really he is pure evil. There’s no redeeming him. Matthew was like, ‘I’m going to enjoy this’, and he certainly did.”
And for the director, “coolest badass” Idris Elba was his immediate choice for the Gunslinger/Roland Deschain.
He told SciFiNow magazine: “There was a list of ideas for Roland and Idris was very high on that list. I was a huge fan from ‘The Wire’ and so on, so I immediately said, ‘Well I think Idris Elba’s the most exciting of all these to play Roland, and everybody was like, ‘Yeah, we absolutely agree’.
“It’s got to be Idris because he’s the coolest badass. I just had to see him with the guns, he had this aura.”

James McAvoy doesn’t want Bond role

OHMYGOSSIP — James McAvoy doesn’t want to play James Bond.
The 38-year-old actor insists the iconic role of the suave spy wouldn’t “suit” him and he has no interest in being Daniel Craig’s successor.
He said: “Have I been in the running? [Is it the dream role for actors?] Apparently so but not for me. It wouldn’t work, he wouldn’t suit me.”
James can currently be seen as covert spy David Percival opposite Charlize Theron in Cold War thriller ‘Atomic Blonde’ and thinks his part is as big a departure from Bond as it’s possible to get.
He said: “He’s the anti-Bond. He doesn’t wear a suit, he doesn’t drink martinis. Well, maybe he does – he drinks a lot. I’m sure martinis have been in there somewhere.
“He smokes, does large amounts of drugs and he’s riddled with sexual infections – some not even known to man. He’s not in your typical guise of a spy – he’s everything Bond isn’t and loves it, and he probably loves the spy game a little too much.
“There isn’t as much effort put into the actual goal. We’re dissecting the glamorous side of spying with Charlize and then the crustier hobo perspective with my character. It feels very balanced.”
The Scottish star was “astounded” watching his co-star in action because she was so committed to the movie, and he looked to her for guidance.
He told heat magazine: “She is unmatchable, immeasurable – nobody can touch her in light of how hard she trains, just going for it in general, how she commits 150 per cent.
“It’s astounding to witness. If you’re going to take on this story, take on this 80s espionage Cold War action, but bathe it in swathes of neon and insane stunts, you want Charlize leading you into battle. She was my commander on this.”
