Ioan Gruffudd: James Cameron was possessed filming Titanic

OHMYGOSSIP — Ioan Gruffudd said James Cameron was like a “man possessed’ while filming ‘Titanic’.
The 43-year-old actor – who starred in the award-winning movie as officer Harold Lowe – admitted the atmosphere on the set of the 1997 blockbuster was always “tense” because the director was under a lot of pressure from two studios to finish the movie.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph newspaper, the actor said: “If James Cameron was here now, he’d be delightful. But oh, my goodness, on ‘Titanic’, he was a man on a mission.
“There were two studios breathing down his neck… he was a man possessed so the atmosphere was so tense, but he was just getting this movie done.”
Gruffudd also starred in the 2005 Hollywood superhero movie ‘Fantastic Four’ and the subsequent sequel ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’ as Mr. Fantastic but found making a superhero film isn’t the most “satisfying experience” because there’s so much CGI involved.
He said: “Making those movies isn’t the most satisfying experiences, it’s all green screen and technical stuff but once it’s put together it’s extraordinary, doing the promotion, travelling the world first class.
“It was just brilliant for a chap who grew up in Aberdare.”
Now the actor is older he believes he gets considered for more roles because he doesn’t look like a “leading man” anymore.
He said: “It’s exciting because there are all sorts of parts I’d never have been considered for in the past because I was too young and looked too much like a leading man.
“Now, I’ve got a bit of weathering. I’ve put on a bit more weight, I’m a bit more jowly. I can play a character a real person.”
Gruffudd’s name was also thrown into the mix about who could replace Daniel Craig as the next James Bond but the actor has confirmed he was never approached for the iconic role.
He said: “I defy any British actor to deny they’ve not stood in front of the mirror and said ‘Bond, James Bond’.”

Hannah Murray reveals Detroit cast didn’t get full scripts

OHMYGOSSIP — Kathryn Bigelow refused to give all her cast the full ‘Detroit’ script.
Hannah Murray stars as Julie Delaney in the director’s new movie – based around the real life murder of three African American men during the 1960s race riots – and she revealed the filmmaker wanted everyone’s performance to be “fresh”, so kept the knowledge of who survived until the end as secret as possible
Speaking to the i newspaper, the actress said: “Kathryn doesn’t like people to over prepare.
“She likes things to feel spontaneous and fresh. Some people never got the full script, particularly the guys in the movie, she didn’t want them to know if they survived or not, so the stakes felt genuinely high.”
Bigelow, who is the first female filmmaker to win an Oscar, has a number of successful movies to date and before they met Murray thought she would be an “intimidating presence”.
She said: “I had this idea, because of ‘The Hurt Locker’ and ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ and the intensity of those films, that Kathryn might be an intimidating presence, but she is totally the opposite.
“She is really kind and really gentle and put me at ease straight away, so it felt like an easy audition.”
The film – which also stars John Boyega, Will Poulter and Anthony Mackie – was written using court reports and eye-witness accounts of the incident in the Algiers Motel.
One of the eye-witnesses was Julie Delaney – who is played by Murray in the movie – and the actress revealed Delaney was a consultant on the set, though they didn’t really speak about the events depicted in the film.
She said: “We didn’t talk about the incident much. It was more about getting to know her as a person and connecting with who she was.
“She said a couple of things that were really helpful. One was ‘I was a spoilt only child and I felt that I could get away with anything ‘ and the other came after I asked her various questions about why she was there at the motel, ‘I was just looking for a good time and I’m really not that complicated’, and I found it interesting that someone sees themselves like that.”

Brittany Snow was allowed to improv on Pitch Perfect 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Brittany Snow was allowed to “improv” while filming ‘Pitch Perfect 3’.
The 31-year-old actress thought it would be “hard” to make a third film in the series, so she was delighted that producers and found a way, and after so long working on the musical movies, new director Trish Sie allowed her cast to just “be” their characters.
Brittany – who plays Chloe – said: “It seemed like it was going to be hard to bring all those girls back together because they’ve all left college and grown up now but they’ve managed to do it, they go on a tour.
“I haven’t seen it yet but I’ve heard it’s really great and Trish Sie, our current director, really let a lot of us improv and be our characters.”
Before the release of ‘Pitch Perfect 3’ later this year, the actress can be seen in the new action-thriller ‘Bushwick’ by Cary Murnion and Jonathan Milott alongside ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star Dave Bautista, but she was initially “hesitant” to take part in the film.
She told the Metro newspaper: “At first I was really hesitant to even do the movie – I thought it had a B movie premise.
“But then I talked to the directors and they explained they wanted a single-take action video game feel and they wanted to take a stab at what was going on in the current climate.
“What appealed to me was the idea that I only had one or two takes to do a 20-minute scene and it was almost like rehearsing and doing a play.
“I’d never done a movie like that before.”
‘Bushwick’ follows Lucy (Snow) who arrives in the Bushwick neighbourhood, in Brooklyn, and militia forces have entered New York to claim it as an East Coast base of operations.
Taking shelter in the basement of Stupe (Bautista), the two have to find a way to get Lucy to reach her destination through the dangerous streets.
The actress admitted she needed to work on her character and give her a backstory because she couldn’t play a girl who is “clueless”.
She said: “When we got the script, my character Lucy was very much a damsel in distress. She was asking ‘what is going on?’ probably about, no joke, 30 or 40 times.
“As a 29-year-old woman at the time, I said, I can’t feasibly do this, play a girl who is this out of the loop and this clueless.
“She has to have some sort of arc and backstory so we tried to incorporate that as much as we could and make her a fighter.”

Michael K Williams cut from Han Solo movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael K. Williams has been cut out of the untitled Han Solo movie.
The 50-year-old actor’s commitment to ‘The Red Sea Diving Resort’ and TV show ‘Hap and Leonard’ meant he was unavailable for the reshoots new director Ron Howard – who was brought on board the ‘Star Wars’ spin-off following the departure of Christopher Miller and Phil Lord – wanted for his version of the film, so it has been decided to drop his unnamed half-human, half-animal role from the project completely.
He said: “I felt great about what I created with the directors that I worked with.
“We created a kick-ass character, in my opinion. I’m proud of it. When Ron Howard got hired to finish out the film, there were some reshoot issues that needed to be done in regards to my character, in order for it to match the new direction which the producers wanted Ron to carry the film in.
“And that would have required me on a plane a month ago to London, to Pinewood, to do reshoots. But I’m here, on location in Africa. It’s scheduling.
I’m not going to be back on the market until the end of November after ‘Hap and Leonard’, and for them to wait that long for me, that would have pushed back the release date, which I believe is in May 2018. They wanted me now; I couldn’t go. So they had to clip-clip-clip.”
However, Michael teased he could find a part in the ‘Star Wars’ universe in another film at a later date.
He told Deadline: “I don’t think that me not being in the ‘Star Wars’ family in final. I left with a very good taste in my mouth about the whole family, and I hope that I left a good taste in their mouth.
“They’re a great group of people, the Lucas family.”
The ‘Han Solo’ spin-off movie is set to follow a younger version of the titular character, with Alden Ehrenreich taking over the iconic role from Harrison Ford.
Han and his wookie sidekick Chewbacca will be seen first meeting Lando Calrissian – played by Donald Glover – and they will also encounter Woody Harrelson’s alter ego Beckett, who is believed to be a mentor to young Han who guides him on his journey to becoming a space smuggler.
The untitled Han Solo film will be released in May 2018.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will set up Marvel movies ‘for decades’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ will set up decades of new Marvel movies.
Director James Gunn has given fans of the superhero movies an insight into what they can expect from Marvel films over the coming decades, revealing the third ‘Guardians’ will perform a key role.
Asked whether the character of Richard Rider, who is also known as Nova, will appear in future Marvel Cinematic Universe films, James explained: “Yes, definitely. Nova comes up occasionally as someone we might use.
“One of the things I’m doing with creating ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’, it will take place after the next two ‘Avengers’ movies and it will help to set up the next 10, 20 years of Marvel movies.”
James made the confession during a fan Q&A, and the seemingly innocuous query prompted him to reveal some of Marvel’s long-term plans.
He said, according to Collider: “It’s going to really expand the cosmic universe. We’re going to be setting up new characters. It will be the last movie of this version of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’.”
Meanwhile, James recently admitted he’s been agonising about the plot of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’.
The director – who helmed the first two ‘Guardians’ movies –
explained: “In the first movie there is a the mugshot sequence where the characters go through and they’re going through the mugshots and having their picture taken and the Nova Corps has information about each of the characters coming up on their little machinery.
“Now, those things are something that your average viewer doesn’t see at all and doesn’t read but there’s a lot of background I put into those things about who they’ve worked with, where they’re from, what’s going on. And it’s one of those things that I’m thinking about changing.”

Martin Scorsese to producer The Joker movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Scorsese is set to produce a movie based on ‘Batman’ villain The Joker.
The Hollywood legend will be joined on the production team by ‘The Hangover’ helmer Todd Phillips, who is in line to direct the motion picture and co-write a script alongside ‘8 Mile’ scribe Scott Silver.
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. and DC are in the early stages of putting the ‘Batman’ spin-off together and it will be the first movie under a new banner which is yet to have been given a name.
While plot details are yet to be revealed, it is thought the movie could focus around The Joker’s origin story and be different to any other iteration.
It is expected to be a “gritty and grounded” crime movie set in the early 1980s of Gotham City.
Jared Leto is set to reprise his role as the character in the upcoming ‘Suicide Squad’ sequel but he is not due to play the part in the new Joker standalone project.
The studio are thought to be looking to a different, potentially younger, actor.
The Joker has been famously portrayed by Jack Nicholson in the 1989 film ‘Batman’ and Heath Ledger – who died in January 2008 – in the 2008 film ‘The Dark Knight’, for which the latter won a posthumous Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance.
Scorsese has helmed some epic movies over the years, including ‘Taxi Driver’ and ‘Raging Bull’, and The Joker film is expected to be similar to those rather than a usual DC motion picture.
This comes just days after Karen Gillan – who plays blue-skinned alien assassin Nebula in Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ – admitted she would love to join DC as a female Joker.
She said: “Oh can I say something DC? Okay, I’m going to say something DC, and I’m going to play the Joker.
“Maybe a female Joker. This is my calling! Somebody make a call for me and let them know I’m available.”

Courtney Green ‘cries’ over body issues

OHMYGOSSIP — Courtney Green “cries all the time” about her body.
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star – who is dating her co-star Myles Barnett – has admitted she’s really struggling with her confidence levels at the moment because she’s constantly filming with beautiful girls like Megan McKenna and Amber Dowding.
Speaking to The Sun Online while shooting in Marbella, Spain, she said: “I get massively down about my body. Myles is probably sick of hearing about it because I cry all the time. My confidence is at an all-time low. All the girls on the show look amazing like Amber and Megan and when I see myself in pap shots I just feel down. I didn’t even want to wear my swimwear because I wasn’t confident in Marbella this time round.”
The 22-year-old beauty would even like to go under the knife to boost her self-esteem but doesn’t think her mother would let her because she’s too young.
She explained: “I have a list of stuff I want to do plastic surgery wise but I can’t – my mum will go mad at me. I’m too young. I would love a little boob lift and a little bit of everything done but I couldn’t go through with it.”
But Courtney isn’t the only one with confidence issues as Myles is also struggling.
He added: “To be fair I’m feeling pretty similar at the moment but I am a bit more private about it. I haven’t been able to train for the last year because of my shoulder operation. I feel like I haven’t been in shape for months. I am buzzing to get back in the gym.
“Failing that I would love to get a beard transplant – I can’t grow a beard.”

Charlotte Crosby cried after finding out ex Gary Beadle will be a father

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlotte Crosby cried when she found out ex-boyfriend Gary ‘Gaz’ Beadle is to be a father.
The 27-year-old reality star dated the dark-haired hunk on and off for five years and, although the ‘Geordie Shore’ co-stars have moved on from one another, the news the 29-year-old hunk is expecting his first child with girlfriend Emma McVey has touched a nerve.
When the television personality was asked about the news on ‘Ireland AM’, Charlotte couldn’t help but break down in tears.
She said: “I get so overwhelmed by all the support, it gets me a bit emotional, it is just so amazing that I get so many nice messages over the past couple of days.”
But Charlotte has admitted the news Gary is starting a family shortly after her brief split from her current boyfriend Stephen Bear, and 16 months after Charlotte suffered an ectopic pregnancy when she dated Gary, made it even harder for her to accept.
She explained: “But not only just the situation with Gary but me and Stephen have had some hard times lately as well. I just can’t even describe how grateful I am for all the support I constantly get.”
However, Charlotte and her 27-year-old tattooed lover are back on good terms, which Charlotte is glad about.
When asked about her current romance, she said: “Thank god for that.”
Although Charlotte was taken aback by Gary and Emma’s news, which was publicly shared on social media earlier this week, she has sent her well wishes to the happy couple.
She said: “I wish them all the best.”
Meanwhile, Gaz “can’t wait” for his new “adventure” with his partner and their tiny tot.
Alongside a picture of the couple, which was shared on his Instagram account, he wrote: “SO SO SO excited to eventually be able to tell you all this… I AM GOING TO BE A DAD… WE ARE HAVING A BABY… I love kids and literally can’t wait for this new adventure… argghhhh literally no words SOOOO HAPPY!!! @emma_jane1392 (sic).”

EastEnders’ Abi Branning to destroy sister Lauren’s life

OHMYGOSSIP — EastEnders’ Lorna Fitzgerald has teased that her evil alter-ego Abi Branning “still has tricks up her sleeve” to destroy her sister Lauren Branning’s life.
The blonde wannabe vet – portrayed by the 21-year-old actress – has already slept with her older sibling’s boyfriend Steven Beale (Aaron Sidwell) in a bid to get back at her, but it looks like things are set to get worse for the pair as she’s plotting even more.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, Lorna explained: “Abi definitely still has tricks up her sleeve! She’s getting more and more involved in Steven, and she’s really driving the plan to destroy Lauren’s life. When I read it, I thought: ‘Gosh, she’s a proper evil mastermind!’ She’s lost all sense of right and wrong.”
And Lorna doesn’t think Abi and Lauren – played by Jacqueline Jossa – will ever be able to get over this row.
She told the publication: “I think it’s reached the point of no return for Abi. I can’t imagine hating anyone that much, let alone my own sister. Abi could have had a chat with Lauren and said; ‘You’re being out of order.’ But she’s gone the extra mile and slept with her boyfriend. I feel quit sorry for Lauren in that sense.”
And, although she loves getting nitty-gritty storylines, Lorna found it uncomfortable shooting the sex scenes with Aaron because there are so many cameras around.
She said: “People on TV must think it’s passionate – but in reality, when you’ve got got 10 crew members staring at you, it’s all a bit awkward. I couldn’t believe it when I found out that Abi would sleep with Steven – I didn’t see it coming. It had never been mentioned before, so when I read the scripts, I was very shocked.”

Gaz Beadle to quit Geordie Shore

OHMYGOSSIP — Gary ‘Gaz’ Beadle will quit ‘Geordie Shore’ this year.
The 29-year-old hunk has been a major fixture on the boozy reality TV show since 2011, but he has decided to turn his back on the series now that he and his girlfriend Emma McVey are expecting their first child, which is due early next year, together.
A source told The Sun Online: “Gary is leaving ‘Geordie Shore’ this year.
“He’s taking fatherhood really seriously, being a dad is all he’s ever wanted and he wants to spend all his time with Emma and their baby.”
But bosses of the MTV programme are desperate to change his mind as they can’t see the show without him and are trying to coax him back with guest appearances.
The insider explained: “They have offered him the opportunity to make guest appearances in series 16 – who knows whether he will or not – but producers are frantically trying to keep him on the show somehow.
“As far as everyone is concerned it won’t be ‘Geordie Shore’ without him.”
Meanwhile, Gaz and Emma announced they were expecting a little one last night (22.08.17) on their social networking sites and, although they remained tight lipped at the time, the heartthrob later claimed that he knows whether they’re having a little boy or girl but he won’t reveal it until he’s ready, which may be in a “few days or weeks.”
Taking to his Snapchat account, he said: “It means so much, all the messages on Instagram and Twitter. I’m going to be a dad, honestly I could not be more excited. I can’t wait, I’m ready for it, I’m so excited. I love kids. I always have and I feel like this is the right time. I thought I’d be scared but I’m not. Also quick one… I know the sex of the baby, and I’m not going to tell any of yous [sic]! “I’m sure this is going to be an eventful next year, winter… whenever it’s due.”

Louis Walsh says Six Chair Challenge is horrible

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Walsh thinks the Six Chair Challenge on the ‘X Factor’ is “cruel” and “horrible”.
The 65-year-old show judge has been featured on the show on and off since the very first series in 2004 and has seen the format change numerous times over the years, but thinks the new concept, in which wannabe stars try to win a place at Judges’ Houses only to then be ditched and replaced by someone else, is brutal.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, the judge said: “As you fill the chairs and as someone else better comes along you have to take someone off a chair.
“It is cruel and it is horrible but that is the music business. It is tough and it is survival of the fittest. It is all ambition, hard work and a bit of talent.”
Louis is joined on the panel this year by Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne, who were judges on the show last year as well.
Simon recently revealed that he’s prepared to part with more cash when it comes to nabbing the two females for his judging panel because he knows that the Irish music manager is willing to take any fee in order to reclaim his seat on the series.
When asked about the recent BBC wages reveal, Simon said: “For once this is good news. Victory. Yeah, they definitely are. I just don’t tell Louis.
“He’s got enough money for a bum implant so he shouldn’t be complaining. I’m almost like a pioneer I guess, yeah. If they get the money, it doesn’t matter to me whether you’re a boy or a girl.
“But I would say we’ve probably paid girls more money than guys over the years.”
Also, the music mogul reportedly doesn’t want his show to have to compete with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ this year, so has decided to air the ‘X Factor’ final in early December, while ‘Strictly’ will continue on until the middle of the month.

League of Gentlemen return confirmed

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The League of Gentlemen’ is returning this year.
The cult comedy series will return to BBC2 for the first time since 2002 for three special episodes, the broadcaster have confirmed, after initially teasing fans with a Twitter post featuring a picture of the sign for the town of Royston Vasey – the fictional home of the show – and asking: “Are you local?”
Co-creator and star Reece Shearsmith shared the post and wrote: “We’re back.”
And an official statement confirmed: “‘BBC Two can confirm that the much-loved and critically-acclaimed comedy ‘The League Of Gentlemen’ will be back on screen later this year for three special episodes, to commemorate the twentieth anniversary since their debut on BBC Radio.
“Their career launched with the BBC in the same year they won the Perrier Award for Comedy at the 1997 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, Reece Shearsmith and Jeremy Dyson will be reuniting for a return to Royston Vasey.
“‘The League Of Gentlemen’ ran for three series on BBC Two and won the Rose D’Or and the BAFTA for Best Comedy Series in 2000.”
The ‘League of Gentlemen’ originally aired on BBC Radio 4 before moving to television on BBC Two.
It is based around residents of the fictional Pennines town of Royston Vasey and ran for three series, each featuring six episodes, from 1999 to 2002 and went on to win a BAFTA.
A film adaptation was also made in 2005 called ‘The League of Gentlemen’s Apocalypse’.
Back in October 2016, Gatiss revealed he and the rest of the gang had discussed reuniting to bring back their popular characters like Papa Lazarou, Tubbs, and Herr Lipp.
He said at the time: “We’re hoping to do it again. We’ve talked seriously about doing something. We’re not quite sure what it is yet but we’d love to do something. I think increasingly talking about prescience, we have become a local country for local people and I wonder if there is something Brexity in us that we can do.”

Jamie Vardy lands fly-on-the-wall show

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Vardy has landed his own fly-on-the-wall reality TV show.
The 30-year-old footballer has agreed to let the cameras into his V9 Academy, which he co-founded with John Morris, as he goes on the hunt for the next star of non-league football.
A spokesperson for Sky told the Daily Star newspaper: “With unprecedented access, the series provides a glimpse into the lives of talented amateur players who have been shortlisted to attend the V9 Academy in front of scouts from around the world, in a bid to become the next Jamie Vardy.”
The series will also see Jamie – who plays as a striker for Premier League club Leicester City and the England national team – open up about his career and the journey he made in order to be successful.
He said: “There’s massive talent out there in non-league footballer and I hope this documentary has demonstrated that, by putting the spotlight on players trying to find a way to the top. I’m now hopeful that some of the clubs, scouts and players that were sceptical about what John and I set out to do are won over. There are many more hidden gems to be found outside the league and V9 will do all it can to help players realise their ultimate dream of playing professional football for club and country.”
Meanwhile, although Jamie is wrapped up in his reality TV show, he’s not the only one being approached by television executives as his wife Rebekah Vardy is reportedly set to head into the Australian jungle for ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ later this year.
A source said recently: “Bosses were really keen on Becky last year and had some very productive discussions. They are planning to have another chat with her this year.
“She’s glamorous but she’s fiery too. She could bring lots to the table and she seemed keen before.
“Having had a healthy baby back in January, she’d be available when the show returns later this year.”

EastEnders to be rocked by gas explosion

OHMYGOSSIP — EastEnders’ Max Branning’s sinister plans to get his own back are set to be exposed over the coming weeks after a huge explosion claims the life of a fan favourite.
The conniving businessman – portrayed by Jake Wood – has been on a mission to get revenge on everyone who has done him wrong since he made a dramatic return to Albert Square after being wrongly accused of murdering Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater).
But his wicked ways will be revealed after an horrific gas explosion tears through Walford and leaves at least one resident dead and others fighting for their lives.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “It’s a bold stunt and has taken months of planning. It’ll trigger a load of other storylines off the back of it, but the explosion itself will be a major talking point.
“Viewers will be left wondering whether it was set off on purpose or by accident, and bosses are staying tight-lipped about who will die but at least one is looking like they will. Fans will be hoping it’s not one of their favourites who is being killed off.”
Although it’s not known which characters will get caught up in the explosion, Aaron Sidwell – who plays deranged Steven Beale, who has lied about having a brain tumour to convince Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) to marry him – is leaving.
A source said recently: “Obviously this storyline has caused a lot of controversy.
“Things are coming to a head on screen, but it’s going to be the end of Aaron’s time on the show. He’s got offers of parts in the West End and a tour of the musical ‘Wicked’, and he loves working in theatre, so that’s on the agenda.
“The outcome of the storyline is being kept under wraps. He’s sworn to secrecy and so is everyone else in the cast and crew.”
