Darren Aronofsky loves home invasion movies

OHMYGOSSIP — Darren Aronofsky has always been a fan of “home invasion movies”.
The 48-year-old filmmaker – whose filmography includes award-winning dramas ‘The Wrestler’ and ‘Black Swan’ – has just seen his psychological horror ‘mother!’ hit cinemas and it stars Javier Bardem and Jennifer Lawrence as a husband and wife whose world is tuned upside down by a stranger who comes to their house.
Aronofsky has always enjoyed films which pit people being attacked in what should be their safest space, citing 1971 cult classic ‘Straw Dogs’ – which stars Dustin Hoffman and Susan George as a couple who move back to Cornwall only to be terrorised by the locals leading to a bloody and violent showdown – as an inspiration.
In an interview with Time Out London magazine, Aronofsky said: “I’ve always been a fan of home invasion films like ‘Straw Dogs’ and great, scary ideas – like ‘Black Swan’ started with this idea of losing your identity. But there’s also the fear of someone taking over your home. I knew that was a good genre base to start a very surreal, weird film. I like to have these genre pieces that audiences can have tested reactions to. They know there’s going to be humour, they know there’s going to be jump scares, but I also let them be surprised by really shaking up the formula whenever I can.”
‘Mother!’ has a stellar cast that also stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Domhnall and Brian Gleeson and Ed Harris, but it was 27-year-old Lawrence who Aronofsky was most excited about working with and he insists she “knocked it out of the park” with her performance.
Aronofsky – who is dating Lawrence said: “When I first started working on it I wasn’t thinking about her, I never thought someone like her would do something like this. Then I got a phone call saying she might have an opening and I should go and be with her. I thought there was something really exciting about taking such a big movie star on a journey like this. I had never seen her do anything like this before. She’s always playing incredibly strong women, and this woman is very much on the back foot and a caregiver. I had no idea if she could find that within herself. She was able to knock it out of the park.”

Thor: Ragnarok features a ‘grubbier’ superhero

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ features a “grubbier” version of the Marvel superhero.
Chris Hemsworth has reprised his most iconic on-screen role for the soon-to-be-released movie, and director Taika Waititi has teased there will be a new-look Thor in his film.
Taika shared: “He’s a lot grubbier. I think everyone’s a bit too shiny and clean in the other films. I love heroes that really go through ordeals and then come out the other end completely changed. They come out the other side and they’ve been through the ringer.
“We do a lot to this character in the film. A lot of people want to see Ragnarok and know what it means; but, to me, Ragnarok means stripping down the establishment and then building it up in a new way.
“Ragnarok is what we’re doing to the character and to the franchise and to the story.”
And Taika revealed that his overarching ambition with the new movie is to show Thor in a “cool and funny” light.
Speaking to Collider, the director explained: “There were already story ideas when I came on board, but a lot of that changed over the first three or four months.
“Right from the beginning, [Marvel] wanted to lighten [Thor] little bit and embrace the adventure aspect of it. The last two films, definitely the last film, were a little darker.
“Personally I feel if the movie’s called Thor, then Thor should be the best character. My main focus was making him cool and funny when he needs to be and heroic when he needs to be.
“If you’ve seen my other films, there’s always a balance between comedy and drama. I think that’s a satisfying story to watch.”

Daniel Dae Kim set to replace Ed Skrein in Hellboy reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Dae Kim is in talks to replace Ed Skrein in the ‘Hellboy’ reboot.
The 49-year-old actor, who is best known for starring in TV series ‘Lost’, could be starring as Major Ben Daimo, a consultant to the titular character at the Bureau for Paranormal Research, in the Neil Marshall reboot after Skrein dropped out of the movie due to complaints the character was being “whitewashed”, Variety reports.
The casting of the ‘Deadpool’ star had been slammed by fans, as the character is originally portrayed as Japanese-American in the comic book.
Skrein said in a statement on Twitter: “It is clear that representing this character in a culturally accurate way holds significance for people, and that to neglect this responsibility would continue a worrying tendency to obscure ethnic minority stories and voice in the Arts. I feel it is important to honour and respect that. Therefore I have decided to step down so the role can be cast appropriately.
“Representation of ethnic diversity is important, especially to me as I have a mixed heritage family. It is our responsibility to make moral decisions in difficult times and to give voice to inclusivity. It is my hope that one day these discussions will become less necessary and that we can help make equal representation in the Arts a reality.”
The plot in the new movie follows Hellboy as he battles with a medieval evil wizard who is determined to destroy humankind.
David Harbour has already been cast as Hellboy and will be joined by Milla Jovovich, 41, as the Blood Queen and Ian McShane, 74, as Professor Broom, the scientist who adopts the titular demon child, in the Marshall-helmed movie.
The part of Professor Broom was originally brought to life by the late John Hurt in the Ron Perlman starring-movies ‘Hellboy’ and ‘Hellboy 2: The Golden Army’.
The upcoming project has been in the pipeline for some time, but the reboot is set to happen without original director Guillermo del Toro, who couldn’t agree with the studio’s vision for the movie.
Instead, Marshall – who worked on the likes of ‘The Descent’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ – is taking charge of the film.

Bill Skarsgard’s portrayal of Pennywise is ‘brave’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘It’ director Andy Muschietti says Bill Skarsgard’s portrayal of Pennywise is “brave”.
The Argentine filmmaker directed Bill on the set of the new horror movie, in which he plays Pennywise the Dancing Clown, and Andy has claimed the actor’s willingness to take risks helped to make his job much easier.
Recalling his on-set experiences with Bill, Andy shared: “Each scene where Pennywise intervenes Bill provided a new flavour to each take because he was part of the concept of making this monster unpredictable.
“So … and Bill doesn’t shy away from the exploration of that he is so brave in that sense. And it was fun for him to surprise me and surprise himself and surprise everyone with new stuff. And it was, we even discussed with him before shooting we said, ‘Let’s go crazy.'”
Bill filmed scenes multiple times in order for the editing team to capture the essence of the character once the shoot had wrapped.
The director said: “Because there is something in the core of this monster that we want to capture It’s ability, so we do different things and different behaviours and different takes that might amount to something very unique when we put the scene together.”
Andy also admitted the horror movie, which is based on Stephen King’s 1986 novel, gave the production team more scope than usual to be creative.
He told Collider: “Using bits and pieces from different takes. Which is something that normally you don’t do with normal characters or normal stories, but this is not normal at all.”

Jennifer Lawrence popped a rib

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lawrence “popped a rib” during filming for ‘mother!’.
The 27-year-old actress – who plays Veronica in the Darren Aronofsky directed thriller movie – hurt her rib as well as “tore” her diaphragm whilst filming for the role.
Speaking to reporters at the Toronto International Film Festival, she said: “Emotionally I had to go to darker places than I would ever want to go in my life and I would never want to go there again. And finding a more sort of vulnerable, softer part of myself that I think I had been like covering up or shoving away for a long time …
“I popped my chest rib and I tore my diaphragm. It actually took a long time to heal but emotionally I was better as soon as we finished that scene and we could just go home and drink wine.”
Meanwhile, Jennifer previously revealed she told Darren he had “severe psychological problems” after she read the script for the movie.
She said: “It was an instant yes before I even read anything. He told me his ideas and I thought they were brilliant and unique and challenging. I’ve been a fan of his for years – I think he’s bold and brave, and I think I said brilliant.
“But I’ve been a fan, so once he told me the ideas floating around in his head I said yes. Then I got a script and when I read it I threw it across the room and told him he had severe psychological problems. But it’s a masterpiece.”
And Jennifer confessed she felt “severely miscast” when she started shooting ‘mother!’.
She explained: “That’s what scared me and I thought I was severely miscast. I found time to find who she was while working with Darren and I was able to pull out this personality that I didn’t know existed. Darren was lovely. Michelle Pfeiffer and Javier Bardem and everyone was great and super nice.”

Alicia Vikander finds it ‘hard’ making independent films

OHMYGOSSIP — Alicia Vikander finds it “hard” making independent films.
The 28-year-old actress stars and helped to produce the upcoming movie ‘Euphoria’, with the backing of her eponymous production company Vikarious Productions, and though the star was “so excited” to work with director Lisa Langseth on the creative side of the production she found the movie making process difficult as the pair spent one year preparing for the project.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about her latest venture, the brunette beauty said: “Lisa and I sat down at a lovely lunch to catch up, and I had already for two or three years about maybe starting a production company one day with my business partner [Charles Collier]. I wanted to be part of the process as early as possible. Lisa mentioned that she was working on this story, and I really, really wanted to work with her again.
“We were both extremely excited to start because it was a year of a lot of [prep] work, a lot of late, late nights and phone calls. Suddenly, we were on set and we’re able to work together again after a beautiful seven-year pause. We’ve both gathered a lot more experience and have even more to work with, because as a filmmaker or an actor, our tools are really our experiences.
“I was part of putting the team together and finding the finance, and we worked again with B-Reel Films. [We] found a way of finding both European funding and private equities to get our budgets, and worked together to finding everything from the set to the crew to the actors, and support Lisa as much as we could with her work leading up to starting filming.
“As with this film, it’s hard to make independent films. A lot of things need to come together, and I’ve only opened this box.”
Although the ‘The light Between Two Oceans’ star is aware of the difficulties in film making she is keen to create more movies, and is “working hard” and reading more texts to find her next calling.
Speaking about her future in the entertainment industry, Alicia said: “But I feel like I want to do more. I’m humbled to do what it takes to put one of these films together. I’m reading a lot, and working hard to find our next story.”
Alicia has praised the 42-year-old creative mastermind – who she has worked with on ‘Hotell’ and ‘Pure’ – for taking “a chance” on her and for inspiring her to explore the production aspect of filmmaking.
She said: “Lisa was my first director who, in one way, took a chance on me, so even though there’s a fear of stepping into something new, it was always filled with so much passion about the story.
“I was 20 when I first met Lisa, and I looked up to her a lot. She was this headstrong woman who has read tons of books and had so many ideas and so much to say. That set a tone for the kind of woman that I want to continue to grow up to be.”

Sir Bruce Forsyth was planning work return before death

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Bruce Forsyth was “looking forward” to going back to work just weeks before his death.
The veteran presenter passed away in August at the age of 89 but, although he had been poorly for some time, his friend Jimmy Tarbuck was surprised by his death because he appeared in high spirits when he visited him a few weeks earlier and he was even talking about jobs.
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’ on Tuesday (12.09.17), he said: “The last time I saw him I went with Kenny Lynch around the house and his lovely misses Wilnelia.
“We sat down – she brought the sandwiches and the tea in for the lads. She [says] ‘I’ll leave you now to go back in time and laugh and we just roared laughing at things.
“[He was] bright as a button doing it all but he wasn’t quite as mobile as he had been. He was in great form. He was looking forward to going back to work.”
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ host’s close friends and family attended a “sad but beautiful” intimate ceremony last week as the legendary star was finally laid to rest. Guests lined outside the church and released 12 white doves into the air to honour the late veteran entertainer as a speaker said: “To the rainbow. Somewhere over the rainbow. Until we all meet again.”
The beautiful moment was captured on camera and shared on Instagram by Phones 4u founder John Caudwell, who accompanied the footage with the caption: “A sad but beautiful moment at Bruce’s funeral. The loss of a dear friend and amazing entertainer that spanned my whole life! RIP Sir Bruce. X (sic)”
It’s believed Bruce’s family are planning another ceremony for his fans at a later date.
Bruce is survived by his wife Lady Wilnelia Forsyth and his six children – daughters Debbie, Julie and Laura from his first marriage with Penny Calvert, Charlotte and Louisa with his second spouse Anthea Redfern and a son with Wilnelia – as well as nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The television icon had been unwell for some time and was hospitalised earlier this year with a severe chest infection but his manager Ian Wilson said Bruce was still cracking jokes even in his ill health.

Holly Willoughby up for fourth child

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby wants to have another baby.
The 36-year-old ‘This Morning’ presenter already has three children – Harry, eight, Belle, six, and Chester, three – with her husband Dan Baldwin but she has admitted she’d love nothing more than to add another one to her brood because she loves being pregnant.
While promoting her new book ‘Truly Scrumptious Baby’ on ‘Lorraine’ on Tuesday (12.09.17), Holly said: “I hate saying no to that question because I hate it being over.
“I love being pregnant, I loved giving birth weirdly, I loved all of that. So the thought of it being over – it’s like not being able to wear a wedding dress again.
“Maybe one day but we’re very happy as we are. Our life feels complete.”
This isn’t the first time the TV presenter admitted she wouldn’t mind having more children.
Last year she said: “You only hear one side of the story and that’s not very helpful, and lots of women really enjoy it. Don’t get me wrong, there is pain, but it is a pain in a different way.
“I love giving birth weirdly – although actually I shouldn’t say that it’s weird. I don’t want that area of my life to be over because it makes me sad to think I’d not be doing it again. I love being pregnant and I love having babies.
“When I had my first, Harry, I couldn’t believe there were so many things I wasn’t expecting. I kept thinking, ‘Why has no one told me about this? Why is this a massive secret?’
“I thought then that one day I’d write a book called ‘It Worked For Me’ and put down all those things I’ve stumbled across or realised.
“By the time I had my third child I felt like I had a really good spectrum of different children and different experiences and it felt like it was time to write it all down.”

Montana Brown to reunite with Alex Beattie?

OHMYGOSSIP — Montana Brown thinks there’s a possibility she and Alex Beattie may reunite.
The ‘Love Island’ couple called time on their romance just weeks after they left the famous villa two months ago because they were struggling to deal with the distance between them, but the brunette beauty has admitted they’re still in touch with one another, get on really well and have a lot in common with one another.
Speaking to the Mail Online, she said: “We call each other still and we’re still on good terms – we do really get on. We have a lot of things in common. We both like going to the gym, we both really clicked in the villa. As soon as we came out the distance was a really big issue. I’m not someone who would want to see someone all the time anyway, but it was more we weren’t seeing each other a lot. We knew we would be really, really busy and it was quite early on to start going out with someone. It’s just seeing if he moves closer or something like that… never say never.”
And the 21-year-old beauty couldn’t deal with how many girls were messaging her on Twitter about her relationship and would rather date out of the public eye.
She explained: “I used to get girls messaging me on Twitter saying, ‘I’m with Alex in a club, he’s with girls and stuff.’ To be honest, I completely trusted Alex, he’s a really good guy. It’s just annoying more than anything else. I think relationship wise I like my private life to stay private and that was the opposite of what happened!”
Their split came just days after Montana – who is hoping to carve out a presenting career – admitted she was not in love with Alex.
Asked if she loves him, she said at the time on national television: “I don’t love Alex yet, no. I’m really true to myself. I don’t want to just say it if I don’t mean it.”

Vic Reeves turned down Corrie role over fears

OHMYGOSSIP — Vic Reeves was offered a role in ‘Coronation Street’ a while back – but refused to call the show’s boss back because he was “too shy.”
The 58-year-old comedian – real name is Jim Moir – will join the long-running soap as Colin next week but he has admitted he could have made an appearance before now if he’d taken up Kate Oates’ offer when she first approached him.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, he said: “I do this with everything – I kind of let things simmer and linger. I’d been asked by a previous producer if I would be interested, but then Kate Oates [the current boss] came to see me on tour and left a note on my dressing room door saying: ‘Would you like to be ‘Corrie’? Give me a ring!’ I bumped into her at some TV awards and she asked again, and finally I said: ‘Yes please!’ I’d received Kate’s note and I was up for doing it but I didn’t ring because I’m a bit shy like that.”
And, although he’s only contracted until mid-October, Vic is hoping that his character will be a permanent fixture.
He explained: “Well, I’m in until mid-October, and after that I don’t really know what happens.
“I’m looking forward to finding out! I’ve spoken to people who came in for a week and stayed forever.”
Not much is known about Vic’s character Colin but he has revealed he’s a very “creepy” lothario.
He added: “He’s a wheeler-dealer, very driven, and he works in marketing for a string of newsagents. Colin is kind of creepy – a bit of a lothario, and he wears these large suits, colourful shirts and pointy shoes. In my first scene, I had to drive a car outside the Kabin and stop. Those shoes have about 2.5in extra length beyond the toe, so I couldn’t operate the pedals! It was impossible!”

Gavin and Stacey won’t ever return

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Gavin & Stacey’ will never make a return.
The comedy came to an end in 2010 after three years on screen and fans have been begging Ruth Jones and James Corden – who penned the three series – to revive ever since but the 50-year-old actress, who also played Vanessa Shanessa ‘Nessa’ Jenkins in the show, has confirmed there will never ever be another instalment.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ on Tuesday (12.09.17), she said: “That is absolutely it. There is definitely, definitely, definitely, definitely, definitely not going to be any more.”
However, it looks like the cast have other ideas as Larry Lamb – who played patriarch Mick Shipman in the programme – is convinced it will return in a film format soon.
He said previously: “I don’t think anybody that was in it would ever say no to it. I think it’s highly unlikely that they’ll ever make another television series of ‘Gavin & Stacey’. I think it’s a distinct possibility that one day, they might make a film, that’s it. That’s purely conjecture… It’s got a huge audience, so I’m sure that’s what they’ll do.”
And, although he’s not usually keen on going back to previous jobs, the former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ contestant thoroughly enjoyed ‘Gavin & Stacey’.
He explained: “‘Gavin and Stacey’ was one of my career highs. The thing was, we knew it was something special. We came together. I knew Alison [Steadman, who played his on-screen wife Pam Shipman], but she was the only person I knew and the first day comes and we all gather together.
“We knew right then it was something special we all had the script and read it but as actors bring the words to life it was something special from the off. I’m still in touch with Alison and we don’t live that far so I still see her at things.”

Coronation Street to extend set

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ will get a new park, restaurant and shops as part of a set expansion.
The long-running soap’s boss Kate Oates has confirmed that the new businesses will feature on the show from next spring after producers decided to turn the street into a whole town in order to keep up with the demand for more scenes following their decision last year to add an extra episode a week on Wednesdays from later this month.
Speaking to What’s on TV magazine, Kate said: “There will be a couple of new businesses and we’re going to have a little park area. So not everything will happen at the Red Rec. Sometimes we say in the story office that if Maxine hadn’t died where would people go to think – because it is Maxine’s bench where people have their pensive moments. There may also be another eaterie with a different kind of vibe. We have already got the cafe and bistro. It’s nice to see a community feel.
“It does well for social dynamics if you’ve got people who were friends who are now colleagues or someone is someone’s boss. It always adds a nice energy.”
The first week of the new six episode double Wednesday transmission pattern will kick off in fittingly spectacular style with the double wedding of Aidan, Eva, Jenny and Johnny.
The action-packed week will have viewers gripped to the edge of their seats as Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward) confesses he’s been having an affair with Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) to his fiancee Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) on their wedding day.
But the drama ramps up a notch when the barmaid agrees to go ahead with the wedding and then the hairdresser gatecrashes the wedding in truly jaw dropping style.
The show’s Executive Producer Kieran Roberts said: “Getting ready to deliver our extra weekly episode has taken our amazing team more than a year of hard work on everything from story-lining to studio building. Now we’re thrilled to be launching our extra weekly episode on Wednesday 20 September, at the heart of a truly unmissable week of high drama, high emotion and heartwarming comedy.”

Lauren Goodger wants to rekindle romance with jailbird beau?

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Goodger is hoping to get back together with her boyfriend when he’s released from prison.
The former ‘Only Way is Essex’ star recently confirmed that she’d split from her jailbird beau Joey Morrison, whom she’d been dating for 15 months, but it looks like there’s unfinished business between the pair as she’s praying that they rekindle their romance when he’s no longer locked up.
A source told new! magazine: “They’re still speaking, but not just as regularly.
“She keeps telling her friends never say never to them getting back together. She still wants his babies, so it wouldn’t be a shock if they gave their relationship another go when he gets out.”
The 30-year-old beauty revealed that she’d split from Joey – who was convicted for a string of offences, including possession of a firearm, kidnapping, blackmail and actual bodily harm – via a video message posted on her Snapchat account last week but confirmed they’re still friends.
She said: “There’s been a lot of speculation and claims recently about me and Joey about my weight and our relationship.
“We haven’t been together for a few months now and I haven’t said anything until now as I don’t have to explain my every move and should be allowed to deal with things in my own time. My antics out and about recently are because I am single and enjoying myself with my friends.
“Me and Joey are still speaking, and we’re good friends as nothing happened to make us fall out. I wanted to put it into my own words so it can’t get twisted and also because of all the ‘sources’ out there and people saying stuff.
“Joey will be home in not too long hopefully and I will see him as we’ve been through this last year and half together and have a friendship and respect for each other. He’s helped me a lot just as I’ve been there for him so of course we’ll remain friends. #always #love #respect #bond. (sic)”
It comes after Lauren admitted she was “having doubts” about her relationship with Joey.
Her spokesperson said in July: “Lauren and Joey haven’t officially broken up, but Lauren is questioning her relationship and having doubts. It’s not easy being with someone who is in prison especially with all the scrutiny and speculation. She loves Joey deeply but she needs time to work out if this relationship has legs and whether it will all be worth it in the end.”

Patrick Bergin joins EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Patrick Bergin has joined the cast of ‘EastEnders’.
The 66-year-old actor – known for his role in the 1991 film ‘Sleeping with the Enemy’ – is “delighted” to be joining the long-running soap as “charismatic old-school villain” Aidan Maguire, a prison friend of Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden), and he can’t wait to get stuck into filming this month – with his scenes set to air towards the end of the year.
He said: “It is an iconic show that has the ability to shape the way people think, whilst also telling big explosive stories that keep the audience gripped. I am really looking forward to seeing what they have in store for Aidan as it’s bound to be dramatic.”
Although not much is known about Patrick’s stint in the show, his character will send shock waves through Walford around Christmas when he rocks up at Phil’s doorstep and the pair embark on a series of shady ventures involving Mick Carter (Danny Dyer).
The show’s executive producer John Yorke said: “‘EastEnders’ deserves the very best and in Patrick we are absolutely privileged to have a truly great actor join the show.
“It’s a huge honour to have him on board, where he’ll be working hand in hand with Phil Mitchell and Mick Carter to carry a truly explosive storyline for Christmas and New Year. We can’t wait to get started.”
But as one famous face joins the programme, two fan favourites are set to leave as Lorna Fitzgerald and Jacqueline Jossa – who play sisters Abi and Lauren Branning – are set to receive explosive exits as part of the show’s festive plots.
A source said recently: “He [John] has form for creating huge plots, so they’re in safe hands over their departure. It will be one of the biggest on-screen moments of the year.
“Sometimes a great storyline comes at the cost of losing some characters. The cast will be sorry to see them go.”

Gemma Atkinson to return to Emmerdale

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Atkinson will return to ‘Emmerdale’ next year.
The 32-year-old actress bowed out of the long-running soap over the summer months when her alter-ego Carly Hope left the village to start a new life with her ex-boyfriend Matt (Jack Hickey), but she has teased that she’ll reprise her role at some point in the future when she’s had time to recover from her stint on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
Speaking to Digital Spy, she said: “Carly Hope will go back at some point. But I might want a holiday at the end of [‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
“I am a hundred per cent sure Carly will return. It’s just a case of figuring out when and why and who she can mess up when she comes back. It’s the end at the moment, but not forever. I never say never.
“Carly will go off and do some living, but she will come back and make amends – hopefully she will find Marlon happy with someone when she does.”
Gemma has just started training for the new series of the ballroom and latin show but has admitted she’s struggling to find her inner sexiness and finds it cringe-worthy when she has to get up close and personal with her professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec.
She said recently: “Being forced to be face-to-face with someone you’ve just met is mortifying. It sounds all lovely. But it’s like doing a scene with one of your mates at ‘Emmerdale’. On camera it looks good, but when you’re in it and doing it, it’s awkward.”
Gemma also revealed she went on an intense training course to prepare her body for the skimpy dance outfits, which she says are heavier than they look.

Megan McKenna was ‘in and out of hospital’ before US

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan McKenna was “in and out of hospital” before she jetted out to the US for her music documentary.
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star flew out to Nashville, Tennessee, over the summer months to film her three-part series ‘There’s Something About Megan’ as she attempted to carve out a country music career, but she has admitted the weeks leading up to her trip were stressful because she was rushed into hospital.
Speaking to The Sun Online, the 24-year-old beauty said: “I was so ill with my belly before I went to Nashville and I was in and out of the hospital and no one knew what was wrong with me, so yes I was thin as I was unwell. People need to realise I’m always going to have problems with this and not troll me.”
Megan has suffered with Coeliac Disease – a common life-long digestive condition where the small intestine becomes inflamed and unable to absorb nutrients – for the majority of her life and has now just found out that she’s also battling with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
The combination of the two stomach conditions has led to her losing a lot of weight, so she was understandable heartbroken when people started calling her “anorexic” and commenting on her body.
She explained: “It’s not nice as no one would call someone fat, but they think it’s OK to call me anorexic. I did respond to one of them, as I was fuming.
“Everyone knows I’m a Coeliac, and I’ve just been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. People need to realise I’m always going to have problems with this and not troll me. I’m always going to have Coeliac disease, it’s a serious thing and it’s life changing.
“It can lead to bowel cancer if you don’t control your diet, so this is a serious thing I have to live with and people need to stop trolling me. I eat enough, I just had a roast dinner, I scoff food and it’s not my fault I can’t keep it in me. I was really ill growing up as my body was rejecting everything.”
